hello again! thanks for the clarification abt sylvia... now i'm curious about how the whole turning point from 'evil' to 'good' is going to go down. if hater and peepers still have the same traits of personality as in show, just their moral compass flipped... touch grass lmao

i was wondering if you won't mind fics/stories inspired by your au, but somewhat divergent? my brain got away from myself and i already imagined an so many stories for everyone involved that doesn't really fit your interpretation

hello! and it's not really that they're "evil" or "good", it's more about swapping their roles in the story, like how i'd personally go about making hater and peepers the protagonists without turning them into completely different people & vice versa with their foils.

obv they're not exactly the same people they are in canon, because their circumstances are way different, and they've ended up in different places because of them, but like. their core traits are the same. because i dont wanna shave off any of the things that make wander wander or sylvia sylvia. idk, i'm just doing this for fun, at the end of the day, so whatever interpretation people have for them or any part of this story is up to them, so long as they're having fun doing it.

and i don't mind fics or art at all! in fact i would be thrilled to read and see anything and everything you come up with because i think that's SO cool and art is awesomes and art is forever. ill say it forever i think taking inspiration is literally integral to making art whether u get it from the world u perceive around you or from the other things people make Its unavoidable and its beautiful #anyway

and the megalophobia thing isn't that serious, it makes me uncomfortable to see/be under/be within big things In Real Life but in art i just admire when people can go into the sheer scale of things . i'm a horror fan, so when i see things that specifically freak me out, its cooler? because the things that scare me are like soooo specific and i rarely see people nail them. if that makes sense. so by all means post & tag me in ur scary art about big planets

DRDT + Milgram AU: Undercover (Introduction)

Finally succumbed to the Urges and came up with ideas for a full Danganronpa Despair Time - Milgram AU, and now I feel like sharing. This means giving each character a MV + VD concept (not a full VD though I ain’t writing that much dialogue, and not a full MV because who do you think I am), plus this Undercover post! I’m not sure if I’ll commit to this for a full three trials, or I’ll just drop it after just one, but I can guarantee I’ll do this trial in full. Feel free to make analysis posts (no pressure obvs), but also obvs don't expect this to be that good, I'm doing this for fun.

And if you come from the Milgram side, uh... have fun? I am curious about what people with no prior conceptions of these characters would think, but I do recommend DRDT if you haven't watched it (the overlap between the fandoms is non-trivial, I imagine you'll like it). If not, you should probably look up the character designs at least, but be wary that there will be DRDT spoilers.

As an obvious disclaimer just in case, I am not affiliated with either DRDT or Milgram in any way, this is just a fanmade AU done entirely for fun.

Basic Concept

Pretty simple. What if the 16 students of DRDT were prisoners in Milgram? This means they're all "murderers" by some loose definition of the word, implying most of their backstories must be changed to acommodate for that. For the prisoner pairs, I just paired them based on the Chapter 1 recap. The rest is pretty self-explanatory provided you know how Milgram works; three trials, vote Forgiven/Unforgiven, etc. I won't repeat it all here. You can go to the official Milgram YT channel for more information if you're not familiar.

Meet Es

Although they are of unspecified adult age, this universe’s Es is very similar to canon Es from the main series, at least in appearance. The only differences are red highlights in their hair, as well as sharp yellow eyes and taller height. They also wear arm sleeves on both their arms, being particularly adverse to people touching the left one, and their voice is slightly higher pitch. As for their personality… well, you’ll have to wait for the VDs, right? But as a heads up, they’re quite a bit nicer than canon Es, though they can still get pretty strict with the prisoners.

Their uniform is the same as canon, including the band thing which in Milgram runes reads “reciffO eciloP”. The only difference is that their other band thing is longer and has the following runes:

(As a heads up, since there's no rune for 'q' I just used the rune for 'c/k' in its place. You probably don't need to translate it all to know what this says if you're familiar with DRDT lore)

Jackalope is replaced by DRDT canon MonoTV, no big changes to its personality. It still breaks the fourth wall and talks to an audience,which is odd for the prisoners (and Es) seeing as there is no audience in-universe (at least, that's what it claims). 

*Es’ VD is mostly the same, besides changes in dialogue caused by the difference in personalities. The only real difference is that there is no ‘extra cell.’

*Cover is still Hibana. 

Alright, let's get to the fun stuff.

Undercover

(It is highly recommended you know what the canon Undercover looks like before reading this, since a lot of it is pretty similar)

The opening is still the same minus Es' different appearance and MonoTV replacing Jackalope, and only starts changing when the prisoners begin showing up.

(Don’t- Don’t expect this to actually work as a song btw. I’m not insane enough to make that work)

UNDER Split in between decisions, my conscious is made up of torn stitches

Levi (01) holds a mostly neutral expression as he holds up his prisoner card, which displays his face alongside an image of an alleyway. His pose keeps changing slightly in smash cuts. Levi’s face darkens right before there’s a switch to the next prisoner.

(Note: I won’t mention the pose switching and the face on the card all the time, since that’s part of canon Undercover. Just assume it always repeats)

UNDER The beauty in simplicity, wilting with rising complexities

Arturo (02) has his chin up arrogantly at first, showing a prisoner card with a picture of a bathroom. He scoffs and turns around before the switch. 

UNDER A liar? No, that’s wrong! My honesty shines like a star in the night

David (03) (speaker persona) smiles nervously, rubbing at his cheek with a finger. His card shows a bedroom. He covers his face with his free hand, sighing before the switch.

UNDER A sinner? No, you’re kidding! I’m innocent as can be, just don’t mind the gaps

Whit (04) throws a cheeky grin to the camera, doing a finger gun with his free hand. His card shows a park. He nervously rubs the back of his neck before the switch.

(Note: Yes I gave him 04 because of the tetraphobia thing sue me-)

UNDER With a fury and a passion, unstoppable, show them your fangs

Ace (05) snarls at the camera. His card shows a city street. He throws it to the floor angrily before the switch. 

(Note: Sometimes I wasn't quite able to tie their talent to their murder, so it's either tangential to their story or has been replaced with something similar. I am mentioning this with Ace for... no reason in particular, sure, you'll believe that)

UNDER Your fears and anxieties, Respond to the stress, show me fight or flight

Nico (06) hides under the part of their cloak which looks like a scarf, peeking out nervously. Their card shows a locker room. They take a step back as the scene switches.

UNDER Each existence is like no other, Lucky, unlucky, showtime reaches all

J (07) holds up her card with an unsatisfied expression. It shows a bridge surrounded by camera equipment. She rolls her eyes as the scene switches.

UNDER And yet, it’s all the same In the end, this wretched still life goes on

Rose (08) yawns as she holds up her card lazily. It shows a large dining room. The card slips from her hand as she falls asleep.

UNDER It’s too much, too much, I’m high strung, please forgive my sins

Hu (09) looks nervous, glancing around as if to find a place to hide. Her card shows a zither in a non-descript room. She drops her card, and closes her eyes with a pained expression, a hand on her chest. 

UNDER Please do condemn me, Bloodletting, the horror inside us is what makes me feel.

Veronika (10) spins and gives the camera a bright smile as she pulls out her card. It shows a rooftop. She throws the card in the air dramatically, laughing as it spins around and falls beside her. Her eyes fall back on the camera, and she smirks menacingly. 

UNDER  Unopposable, incontestable Merry kings, life’s queens, for me they bow down.

Arei (11) is sticking out her tongue and looking to the side dismissively. Her card shows a bowling alley. She laughs into her hand before the scene switch.

UNDER My weakness haunts me, Alarm bells are ringing, there's no going back.

Eden (12) fidgets with her hands, shaking nervously. She hides her face behind her card as she shows it, but her teary eyes are still visible over it. The card shows a bedroom full of clocks. She cries into her hands before the switch.

[The music winds down, a bridge of sorts. As it plays, a few scenes are shown, where only the characters’ silhouettes are visible, white noise covering them]

[01: A steaming kettle covers most of the foreground. In the background, Levi is seen sitting at a table, head slumped forward. Most of the table is visible, but no one else is in the frame]

[02: Arturo is seen to the left, holding a white turtle neck shirt in his hands. Behind him, an open suitcase sits on a bed, clothes splayed haphazardly around it]

[11: Arei stands in front of a bathroom mirror. She’s holding the right side of her hair, the only part that’s visible. It looks very unevenly cut]

[12: Eden is holding her head in her hands, slumped over a work desk full of small machinery. Behind her are a multitude of analog clocks of various designs, all showing the same time; 6:00]

[13: Min is sitting on a chair, slumped forward and apparently collapsed over a notebook. A pen sits just beside her right hand. A bit of the writing can be seen, showing this:]

[14: Xander, the focus of the shot, stands in front of a crowd, standing on a simple chair. His fist is in the air, and so are the fists of everyone in the crowd]

[15: Charles is kneeling over a grave, the name on it hidden behind the silhouette. Charles is pulling at his hair with his hands. Other graves are visible around him, but the edges of the screen are darkened and it’s impossible to see them well]

[16: Teruko’s hand is reaching out to a black figure, this one without white noise. The figure is completely non-descript, more a simple shadow than a proper silhouette. Blinding white light surrounds this figure] 

UNDER No mistakes, no corrections, 100% Perfection, results shall not vary. 

Min (13) wears a neutral expression, and she holds her card perfectly upright. Her pose changes only to match the exact angles actual mugshots use. Her card shows an untidy bedroom. Before the switch, she lowers her hand, and looks briefly to the side, before turning back to the camera. When she does, her left eye flashes magenta behind her hair. 

UNDER Fighting for true justice, Stand strong, a reflection of the will of the many

Xander (14) is glaring at the camera, moving his card around flippantly. Said card shows a window overlooking an entire city. Xander throws the card away before throwing a punch at the screen.

UNDER Leave no room to hide, No hesitation, a chain reaction of truth unfolds

Charles (15) looks serious, if a bit annoyed as he holds up his card. It shows a laboratory table with several test tubes. He turns his back to the camera, adjusting his goggles, but gives one last, softer look behind him as the scene switches. 

UNDER Or shall the secrets remain? What lies beyond the lies, armageddon untold

Teruko (16) looks at the camera with cold eyes, but a hint of a frown on her lips. Her pose never changes; unlike everyone else, her segment is one continuous shot. It starts with her holding her card at an angle such that only her face is visible on it. She closes her eyes solemnly, before finally flipping her card around so only the backside is shown. It has the Milgram logo combined with the DRDT logo. She never shows the rest of the front of the card, as the scene switches moments after. 

[Pre-chorus, as the prisoners hold their hands to their mouths before a scene of them smiling plays. At the end, for a few frames, a white camellia blooms, before there’s a sudden shift in scenery as we hit the final chorus. All the prisoners’ silhouettes have a still shot each with Es, with a blood splatter always under the latter. The scene starts to focus on each individually]

[Levi’s punching Es in the face, Es thrown to the floor from the impact. Brass knuckles are barely visible on his hand. Levi’s shouting, as are all the other prisoners]

[Arturo is kneeling, facing away from Es. The latter is laying on the floor behind him in what would be a pretty uncomfortable position. Arturo is holding his head in his hands, his mouth visible from the side and open in a shout. One of Es’ shoes is off]

[David is holding Es by the neck of their shirt, shouting at their face (from now on I’ll stop clarifying that they’re shouting). The following symbol appears over where his eyes would be, glowing yellow: 正] EDIT: I forgot to mention one of Es’ shoes is off. RIP to the theorists I’m so sorry-

[Whit is pointing what looks to be a gun at Es, who is recoiling as if they’ve been shot in the heart]

[Ace is seen running, Es’ body falling to the ground beside him and twisting as if they’d been bumped into]

[Nico sits on top of Es’ back. With one of their hands, they’re grabbing onto Es’ hair and apparently pushing it forward. With the other they’re holding two ends of a wire firmly planted on Es’ neck]

[J stands normally, pointing what seems to be a remote control at Es. The latter is face-up on the floor, their limbs contorted in unnatural angles]

[Rose is standing, facing away from Es, who is kneeling and grabbing at their throat. A small jar sits beside them, the cap taken off]

[While standing, Hu is grabbing Es by the throat with both hands, blood coming from the Warden’s throat]

[Veronika is kneeling besides Es’ face-up body. Her hands are on her chest, and there is blood under her as well as the Warden. Meanwhile, Es’ limbs are contorted in unnatural ways, and one of their shoes is off]

[Arei is violently swinging a bowling ball at Es’ head, causing their body to twist around as it falls]

[Eden is standing, covering her eyes. Her right hand has a Ⅵ symbol glowing bright yellow. Es is uncomfortably laying face-up on the floor]

[Min is standing with her back turned to Es, who is kneeling on the floor and grasping at their neck. Min is shouting into a landline phone. Along her arm, an equation glows bright yellow:

[Xander is grabbing Es’ shoulder, plunging a knife into their stomach]

[Es is standing neutrally, but there is still blood on the floor. A glowing yellow question mark floats above them. Charles is nowhere to be seen]

[Teruko is kneeling calmly besides Es, who is lying face-up with their hands crossed over their chest as if in a coffin. A question mark glows on Teruko's left hand. Teruko is the only prisoner besides Charles who is not screaming]

[The song winds down while a sped up and translucent version of the video plays in the background. A shadow begins growing in the middle, and for just a moment, two sharp yellow eyes stare at the camera from the center of the screen. The finale simply has Es exiting to the left as they do in canon Undercover]

Oh God. David Heard There's Room Service In Hell!!

Once again, I am testing my drawing ability by NOT doing any of the MANY illustrations I need, but I would've been sad if I couldn't finish an illustration. And look! I made it! I CAN DRAW! (And collage, obvs not my suitcase or BG, but all Public Domain)!! Well, my stylus needs a new battery, BUT, IN THEORY, I CAN DRAW! It's low res like all my test images, and I don't think I'm gonna put Vivziepop out of business anytime soon, but I'm fond of it.

That's why I'm so sad that it'll NEVER EVER HAPPEN. As a storyteller (albeit an obscure one) let me elucidate...

Strictly in terms of narrative viability, David hails from an incompatible universe. For an Invisible, he's middling. The Compelling Voice he's so fond of seems to be standard-issue, he's just more of an asshole about using it. In Tin Soldier and Soldier On, he's not all that hard to beat. Some people even have a natural immunity! He's only a threat in the first place because nobody knows what he can do.

But the minute he rolls up to the Hazbin Hotel, not only does nobody know what he can do, nobody has that natural immunity, and it would be hard as hell (haha) to beat him with their combat-friendly magic system. David isn't doing that Capcom-esque "freeze the enemy for a few seconds while they're looking at it" hypnosis. He's issuing unbreakable commands. If you're not deaf, the only way to beat him is to forget what he said. And that seems like it would be difficult, if not impossible, for most of the cast. Alastor certainly won't stoop to inflicting head trauma or hypnosis or amnesiac-levels of liquor on himself.

And that MIGHT not be a problem, except as soon as Dave meets Al he's gonna go from zero to nemesis in about three seconds flat. "Hmm, let's see. Neat freak, carefully-curated personality, perma-smile, never a moment's weakness... That's a pathetic little traumatized man-baby and I'm going to pull him out of his shell if I need to use a crab fork!" And, canonically, Alastor is also willing to make enemies that quickly. David has a sense of humour and no sense of self preservation, combat tentacles and veiled threats ain't gonna do it. Round one, David's gonna mop the floor with the Radio Demon.

...And by that, I mean he'd stuff Alastor into one of Niffty's frilliest little outfits and literally make him mop the floor, and even Charlie encouraging him to be a better person wouldn't get him to quit. Also, he'd be ignoring her and bending over backwards to get Angel's attention.

"Oh, listen. The man is over one hundred years old with zero interest in one-night stands or whirlwind romances. Prohibition isn't a thing anymore, drinking and dancing just doesn't cut it. Give him a chance to develop a fetish for something a little bit taboo..."

But David would, inevitably, pass out. Most likely after binging and doing untold damage with Angel. And Alastor would kill him... And that's where we have the biggest fucking plot problem of all. Alastor's go-to method of disposal is tearing people to pieces while broadcasting it on the radio. And it seems like their screaming continues for quite some time, perhaps eternally.

I have expressed this in song form, because I have a weird brain and I couldn't resist.

oh jeez! i can immediately see dean generally tending towards psych/phys, obv, and sam more confident with intellect/motorics (like lol e.g. i think it's more or less canon dean is a somewhat better shot, but that boy does Not know what composure even is, let alone savoir faire)

i do think they're fun custom builds though — sam is defoooo high up on volition scale, to the point it's my closest contender for signature, and suggestion—a deadly, borderline sociopathic combo, when you remember all that composure and rhetoric waiting in the wings. but with that much volition—he has a final say in what he is, always and ever, as demonstrated in swan song, the entirety of s9, the list is endless.

and no one can beat his endurance+pain threshold combo. we saw many try. it's just easier to hit him in a thinner spot (electrochemistry seems to be one. not much care over it, but also not much control. the rubys and lady tonis of the world see it plain as day. it won't make him open up to you, but it will work as a carrot for choice goals.)

dean, i imagine, lives life immersed in a conversation between half-light (isn't it fun to think of moc > demon dean pipeline as his natural half-light predisposition steadily getting maxed-out to the point it cancels out his psyche sensitivity?) and drama (which, in his case more of a genuine mutability + desire for connection and participation than a performative weapon. comes with the ability to see through it in others (ruby anyone?) and i'd go with it for signature.)

i believe all of this is modified by his high empathy turned endless feeling of responsibility, leaving half-light in more of a fear of abandonment+pessimism line of thought position than a deranged aggro position.

i'd also bet he's not bad on shivers (all those long drives in the impala, talking gently to the road!) and very much an esprit de corps guy when it comes to hunting teamwork, while sam is the resident encyclopedia king, not opposed to flexing the authority either.

all of this is just the usual framework where sam is immutable and dean is relatively easy to mold, but not easy to fundamentally change, whatever he might think about his own liabilities and failings, of course.

and a little of those unique skills, as a treat; i know DE fandom loves inventing those, which makes all the sense, we don't all live in harry's head, so.

i'd give dean the one called family business, haha. that would be john's voice in his head when it comes to all that hero responsibility paid for by own desires (it would have a field day with WIAWSNB dean or the pre-s6 family guy dean), hunting community (e.g. the whole bobby deal), taking in companions and friends to that end, occasionally finding himself in a mentor position later on. mostly unpleasant. always loses checks against anything sam-related.

sam, i'd go with boy king, lol. his natural ability to pick up and use supernatural skills that, when maxed out enough to mess with his volition, gave us the beauty of s4, let lucifer get hold of him to the degree he did in s7, and in later years made him suitable for trials and rowena's trust and occasional spellwork, but, from his point of view, is just kind of a nuisance, and a dangerous one at that. imagine what fun it would be to listen in on this tempting voice always suggesting he go back and flex those powers, it would be so easy to just—yeah.

deckai is one of those ships that i indulge in a fair bit of and enjoy when other people talk about them but i never actually put much thought into them.

First of all, Declan is utterly obsessed with Kai. I mean that's basically canon, have you SEEN his Kai posts. I imagine that in the era when they liked eachother before getting together, Kai was super chill and lowkey and Declan is over there just losing his fucking mind wondering if it's mutual or not and kai is unbreakable and he's so close to just shaking it out of him

I also saw someone bring up the idea of like, them being very possessive, which i LOVEEE. like i feel liked they'd be easily jealous and want the other to be fully theirs. Kai is more of the standing in the corner and sending dirty looks to someone hitting on Dec, while Declan's more of the walking up and putting a hand around Kai's waist type of person

This isn't much, but as i said i kind of mindlessly indulge without giving much individual thought when it comes to them 😭😭😭

saw spiderverse. in keeping with my 2021 tradition of having lots of spider opinions here are my thoughts. spoilers obv:

gorgeous film. kind of goes without saying but it really was just remarkable visually, so so so cool. gwen's universe was my fave visually i think? absolutely ruled. and with my untrained eye i'm sure i missed some cooler things they did as well.

like: did i imagine it or did the look change somehow (? i can't define how) after miles got sent back to his universe?

i had misc spoilers for things and my intuition about the arc of the plot was mostly correct. but i managed to not be spoiled for The Big thing at the end so it still got me and i enjoyed that very much

i will say i knew the movie was going to end on a cliffhanger, and then it felt like they set up five or six different possible cliffhangers, and i started getting antsy. i feel the movie could've lost some time, somewhere. the cameos are fun (i liked seeing the live action guys. bite me), but maybe we needed less of them, i don't know. or maybe the guy in the seat attached to mine just needed to stop fidgeting constantly for the last 45 minutes lmao

i don't think the script was as funny as the first movie. it wasn't UNfunny, but i don't remember having quite as many "oh, clever!" type laughs in this one. ah well. it was pretty solid though. i was honestly worried lmao, first because of a writer changeover and then because the way everyone hyped this movie up i felt like it could not possibly match to what people were saying. but i did thoroughly enjoy myself

on the trans gwen discourse, usually i dismiss stuff like "bisexual lighting" because, well, it generally means nothing except wishful thinking. and that honestly might be the case here too but WOW was her 'coming out' scene the trans flag lmao y'all weren't kidding. i'm pretty adamant about not giving stuff laurels for being "canon" when the media hasn't earned it, so i won't do it here, but uh yeah i see how everyone drew that conclusion. trans gwen real

so where does this land in my giant spider movie ranking? not sure. definitely near the top, but does it beat #1? would probably have to ruminate on it and see it again at some point. the list is missing no way home as well. my work is never-ending.

I restructured my board a little bit, mostly to highlight the important parts more. I should point out that "Glowing Weapons = Divine" is obv not a Voice of Cards specific thing, I just left Lanca's weapon there to have some sort of anchor point because it seems that we have two Divine Weapon "Archetypes" so to speak - on one hand pink flower weapons and on the other pure white glow weapons.

Regarding the "It should be obvious with the next one" bit from last time:

It's still not obvious with the next one. All of these costumes could really just be a NieR-ian takes on "Divinity" that kind of accidentally mimic the VoC:FM gods or it could be costumes purposefully referencing them in vague ways (to reiterate why this would be huge if true: It would basically confirm that the spirits from VoC:FM are the Watchers) - but I still think Akeha's was just simply too close to Lac for me to just outright dismiss it.

Also it's just far too much fun to do this so I'm probably not going to stop until somebody makes me.

My findings on Yudil's costume can be found on the board. I kind of assumed Yudil would get a Kraken/Blue Spirit motif just because it would have been easy to handwave away since boats are kind of a character motif for him... but I certainly won't complain about more Ivory Spirit-based costumes. And they would have had to repeat/move on from the spirits eventually anyways since there are only 5 of them (6 if you count the superboss) so this isn't that big of a deal.

Aside from that I don't have particularly much to say though. I mean the costume is veeery pretty. And I just noticed it's kind of shaped like a dragon, it has two wings and a tail made up of scales (you can kind of see it in my screenshot of Yudil's backside to the right of the artwork) Hmm. I wonder if that was intentional.

And while I'm talking about Yudil - did you know that you can canonically interpret* Yudil as a bisexual non-binary person? *when it comes to pronouns somebody is bound to complain about localization meddling so take overly specific wording :PPP bc I can interpret all I want and you can't stop me

His first four hidden stories (as always shoutout to nierrein.guide) tell the story of how Yudil learned to be a thief - he learns it from a kidnapped prince while he helps him return to his homeland - and in hidden story 3 the prince tells Yudil about a story he was read as a child in which basically the exact thing happens to a thief and a princess, except when they arrive at their goal they end up marrying. And when the prince points out these similarities Yudil narrates this:

We certainly qualify as thieves, yes, but he's hardly committed any grave crimes. The similarities were superficial at best. Besides, it's hard to imagine myself playing the part of the beautiful woman. Then again, I do remember him taking my hand and running. "I'm not that pretty," I say. "But you have such a beautiful face," he says with an earnest look. I can't find the will to argue. I simply let sleep take me. In my dream, I become something so shameful that I can never tell another soul about it.

And then, if that wasn't queer enough for you, in the fourth story the only time somebody refers to Yudil with pronouns after that the prince uses they/them pronouns. So take that as you will.

Note: Most of the game uses He/Him pronouns for Yudil btw (which is why I still do so too for the most part, I personally see it as a He/They sort of thing) - but for those really scared I dare to misinterpret the intended reading of the author by saying Yudil is non-binary: It's also fully in line with Yudil's Event Story where he just cross-dresses without any sort of hang-ups about it so if it comes up again then some degree of Non-Binary Yudil is very much intended. And I trust Yuki Wada to know about queer people, he wrote Priyet and L'via Voice of Cards.

Anyways. Now that I made you read all that, here are the stories:

Alright so it's actually two fic. The post-sgrub one focused on Gamkar, and a Many Years In The Past one that was going to focus on Kurkri.

Holy shit this got long. Putting the rest under a cut.

so I don't know how long you've been around in Homestuck fandom but there was a point during one of the early hiatuses, before the alpha kids and everything were introduced where a post-game theory that spawned a lot of fic was that everyone would just sorta.

Get dropped back into their original universes like nothing ever happened.

Like obviously that got jossed to hell and back, but honestly I kind of adored the concept.

So the fic there goes,

The trolls get dumped back on alternia. Everything sucks. They have a couple perigees before ascension and Karkat spends nearly all of it freaking the fuck out because, y'know.

And ascension comes around. Gamzee has a plan, you see. He's been doing some reading. Things are so much clearer now. It's so much easier to make sense of things sober.

Because palemates are sacred. He doesn't know how he missed these passages before. Must've been pretty fucked up. Anyhow, palemates are sacred and good as family, and anyone who lays claw on family, rust to tyrian, the church horde will fuck that person up.

So all Gamzee has to do is get Karkat onboard the church fleet and he'll be fine. This is a "Karkat gets adopted by the cult of the Mirthful messiah's fic."

Karkat obv thinks this is a stupid idea but he's gonna die one way or the other so~

And then they get on-fleet and Gamzee is called to see the grand highood who's descendant he is, and Kurloz is Very Sad that Gamzee doesn't have a palemate with him because Karkat is gonna be in hiding until they can get him registered as Gamzee's moirail.

And then Gamzee meets Kurloz's moirail, the best-kept secret in the church fleet. Because Kankri fucking Vantas is not only not executed, he's painted fucking Mirthful and has been spending the last several hundred sweeps very gently guiding the church and by extension the entire empire into a kinder, gentler form. Meanwhile Kurloz has spent the last several hundred sweeps very gently convincing Kankri that some trolls are annoying enough to deserve culling. Neither of them really get it, but they're doing their best. Imagine if a staunch conservative American politician fell head over heels with a hippie time-jumped from woodstock, but also killing your way out of a problem was socially acceptable as a form of conflict resolution.

Gamzee and Karkat, who knew both what alternia was like pre-sgrub, and Beforan Kankri and Kurloz, both exchange the shadiest fucking looks and decide to never mention it again. Gamzee has a few dozen crises of faith but this is a "we're ignoring all the shit I didn't like post-cascade" fic so they're not irreconcilable crises. He probably gets in a lot of theological arguments with Kurloz for the rest of his life.

Anyway the rest of that fic is about Karkat becoming Clown. I'm a little sad it won't get written at this point because it was fun.

The prequel is about Kurloz and Kankri and I swear I was planning it well before 2020. I stopped writing Homestuck or planning new fic in like 2018.

It was very much a riff on the lion and the mouse, playing into kankri-as-christ(flawed) and also one of my favorite tropes "you're my enemy but I have a duty of care and I'm not even going to do a shitty job because I have pride if nothing else and also I'm going to heal the fuck out of you out of spite."

So there's a plague sweeping alternia. Some kind of pox, like a full on bubonic thing. Alternian healthcare is almost as bad as American healthcare, even pre-ascension in the early centuries of the Condesce's reign, so it's spreading out of control and killing a disproportionate amount of lowbloods. I like the (head ?)canon that Kanaya has some amount of first aid/medic schooling, so translate that up to the Dolorosa having an amount of herbalism/hedgewitch/healing woman knowledge, translate that to Kankri being incredibly fucking stubborn about saving as many trolls as possible and getting himself a reputation as a miracle worker and prophet.

Until the Grand Highblood, newly risen to power, falls ill and none of his priests or medicullers are able to do anything to stop the progression of the disease until one of his younger Acolytes (Sirrah, not yet titled Infernal, one of my oldest and most loved fanclowns, a right bruiser butch bastard of a disaster lesbian and who I want to be when I grow up) in her desperation goes and does the thing Kurloz hasn't been able to do for sweeps, tracks down Kankri, and begs him to come and heal her brother.

Anyway that's the first chapter, the rest of it is Kurloz's recovery and Kankri trying to heal this asshole and also not get his stupid ass killed and also the fucker won't rest for five fucking minutes

There's a little coal inside that diamond, but adversity is the spice of life.

Hope of Morning Sequel

Let's call it 'bottled memories'

So full disclosure, I fully intend to end HoM someday but I just came off a *hellish* career mistake so it'll be a minute.

So I'm gonna try and describe the sequel without spoiling what's left of the main story. I may or may not be successful because I dont actually remember much about where the last chapter left off.

Bottled memories is focused around the resurrection and reformation of the Mirthful Church. The thing about laughsassuns is it's hard to be sure you got *all* of them. The thing about trolls is the mother grub is gonna keep churning out wrigglers in all colors so long as the jades bring her slurry. The thing about (my) clowns is that purple lusii aren't shit, so clowns make do.

It's also partially focused around one of my fanclowns. It's a crying shame the only longfic I ever got around to writing requires all my clowns to be dead because I love them. Especially Kalton, who has been around for something like 7 slutty, slutty years.

If you want more than that you'll have to ask because I crave attention constantly.

Okay so I'm a slut for doomed romances and dancestor echos. I'd have to go back to the post to remember which one I was thinking about specifically, but generally I want it to go like this:

Kurloz is a fucking bastard okay? But you know what, so is Kankri. They're assholes. Maybe Kankri lures him into a debate. Maybe it's a murderstuck-style emergency romance, maybe Kurloz only ever meets him once he's on the jut and knows the instant he looks into those burning eyes that he has done something unforgivable and irreparable. But my favorite is where they somehow make it work, and Kankri stays a well-kept secret among the upper castes, enacting subtle changes in alternian society while Kurloz is slightly less murder-happy with a Vantas holding his leash.

I do want to talk about the bad blood between condy and Kurloz, but I'm falling asleep on my phone, so that will be in a reblog tomorrow.

I'm one of the ones who've asked about the alternate ending. With that being said, I'm still very invested in how they get together. Like it's your story obv. And either way I'm reading til the end. I kind of want to see Reader have a few one night stands and Billy to see. She doesn't know he's across the street so it wouldn't have to be revenge, maybe just her building up her self esteem and having some fun. And she won't even need to mention it to him, he'll KNOW but she won't bring it up 😂

Levi is so intriguing and I agree with you, the risk of not being able to adopt is curious for a single het man and his being single while being so cute and kind is strange for a church that would be full of young women who just want to marry and have kids.

I have two Levi and K&K related ideas:

A) Keefe finally comes out to Kelvin and before he can declare his love, Kelvin simply hugs him and promises him to find his perfect partner. So he asks Levi for a date.

For more shenaningans: Levi doesn't understand why Keefe is doing here when Kelvin should be here and Keefe being very confused bc he thought Kelvin would be here and this was just a dramatic way to ask him.

B) Levi and Keefe are sort of friends, bc being a gay man in a church full of married het couples is easier together. Levi obv knows everything about k&k pining for each other so decides to take action and fake dates Keefe.

Bonus if even Keefe doesn't know what is happening, just that suddenly Levi is touching him more and being very sweet with him while Kelvin knows perfectly what is going on and he won't stand that Levi will steal his bff!

And about my help Kelvin with his virginity au, I have another little piece but it can also being alone: imagine Kelvin trying to woo Keefe (this is can be bc he really wants to date Keefe or because he is trying before doing it with his "real" person) and Keefe is just so oblivious it makes Kelvin furious! He tried to bring him to a new restaurant and Keefe was so uncomfortable and wanted to spend time alone in the house (this bc maybe they have weekly friend date like mac and Dennis in it's always sunny, so it is a normal thing for them, but usually they go to their usual restaurant, not a five stars one)! But when Kelvin tried to pull his move while watching a movie in the home theatre Keefe thought he was cold and went to fetch a blanket.

At his wits end, he is found by Keefe while he thought to be alone pouting and he explodes a little bc he really wants to successfully asks Keefe out but maybe he is not effective or Keefe noticed and ignored him bc he doesn't want the same.

Keefe, who didn't notice anything and would really love to go out with Kelvin, is very surprised to discover he is on his 45th date with the love of his life.

I am very happy that you are having fun writing dialogues!

I think it is very difficult to write following the show's writing bc it is very specific and a balance between grotesque and dramatic can be tough to achieve. I wish you the best of luck and I am very excited to read it, once your story will be ready!😍

Oh my GOD! Mac and Dennis! I knew there was a dynamic that Kelvin x Keefe loosely reminded me of!!!! (Obviously in a non-toxic way, of course, 'cause whoa, I love them and all but Macdennis are something else heh 😅) but you're totally right. Kelvin and Keefe (have the fandom come up with a ship name for them yet? Keevin? Kelfe? StoneChambers? Gembers? 🤣) would definitely have dinners and regular hang out spots and everything else a co-dependent more-than-friendship friendship would have. 100%. I love that idea and think it's more than likely canon at this point.

And yes, poor Keefe would have no idea if Kelvin was into him, I think. He strikes me as just never allowing himself to believe it's a possibility, poor guy.
