Eddie’s live-streaming in his studio when Robin asks if he wants the rest of her milkshake. He’s like ‘yeah’ and she says, “Woooow, look at that. Once again, Eddie Munson gets my sloppy seconds.”
Eddie, playing along: Hate to break it to you, Rob, but Steve was with me before he married you, and during, and after.
Robin: Yeah, but I put a ring on it first.
Eddie: Actually, you didn’t.
Robin: In the eyes of the law, I did.
Eddie: Well, I slept with him
Robin: Ew. He confessed his love to me first
Nancy, not even looking up from her laptop: I don’t know about that…

Icarus Part 10
Just a little metal band Steve while the poll for what do with boy w/a bat and werewolf Steve is ongoing. Here if you want to vote.
Corroded Coffin is almost done with their album when the shit hits the fan and Eddie soothes away some of Steve's insecurities (and accidentally creates one more.)
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9
****
Eddie was grateful that with the album ninety-eight percent done the label had released Jeff and him from their jail sentence so that they could go out and be people again. Brian had also been released for good behavior, but Dr. Owens suggested that Gareth stay away from the booze and parties for awhile, so Gareth had chosen to continue the exile willingly.
So to say he was excited to see Steve without all that shit hanging over his head. It was like a rare cool breeze against his skin on a hot summer’s day.
He got a table at the bar he told Steve to meet him at and ordered their drinks. He looked around the room as his knee began to bounce. He didn’t think Steve would stand him up. Steve wasn’t like that. But what if something happened? What the new studio they got was in New York or London or Chicago? How could he suggest that to Steve? He nee–
A warm hand touched his shoulder and all anxiety vanished as Steve murmured his hello.
Steve tapped the center of his forehead as he sat down. “What’s going on inside that head of yours? I can tell you’re spiraling, you’ve got this wide-eyed panicked look to you.”
Eddie rubbed his forehead and pouted. “Everything.”
Steve sighed and tenderly took his hand. He brought it up his lips and kissed each knuckle separately.
“The music business isn’t a forgiving industry at the best of times,” he murmured gently. “But it’s really rough on relationships. All kinds of relationships. Family, friends, lovers. But you’ve got me, okay?”
Eddie let out a low shuddering breath and then nodded.
“So tell me about your day,” he said with a slightly crooked smile. “You talk to Robin and your friends?”
Steve looked around the bar and nodded. “Robin says she’s working on the change of scenery, but she’s not sure how long it’s going to take. As for the other thing... we’re split down the middle. Me and Spence want June, while Simon and Shane want January.”
Eddie cocked his head to the side. “Why the split?”
“Spence and I have hope we can get the,” he lowered his voice, “album,” he raised his voice again, “done and want the time to finish it. While the other two are clawing at the walls, chomping at the bit, and just begging for a chance to travel again.”
Eddie sighed. “I’m sorry, Stevie. We’re pretty much into editing portion of the album and agreeing on the song order. But we can tour whenever. That’s the best part about being us. We can take six months to do five shows if we wanted to and our fans would eat it up. But if your guys want to wait until next summer, then we can do that. If your guys want to leave right after the New Year, fuck we can do that too.”
Steve sighed. “The record label is just pushing us to the limits and I think even Robin is beginning to crack. First there was the mix up with our contracts then this new thing, plus the touring and everything else. It’s a lot put on her and she’s starting to go mad.”
“They like to do that, unfortunately,” Eddie agreed. “I know Celeste is a good manager, but I think that The Fallen could use an actual agent, someone to take the load off of her back.”
Steve chewed his lip. “But won’t they have to be brought in on the secret if The Fallen were to get an agent?”
“Not if you don’t want them to,” Eddie said with a shrug. “A lot people use stage names they have to have contracts. So...” he waved his hand. “I’m assuming Celeste has control of all the fiddly business stuff for each member of the band?”
Steve shrugged. “Pretty much I guess.”
“They could work through Celeste if the band doesn’t want them to know,” Eddie said with another shrug. “But I recommend bringing them in. They can’t put out fires if they don’t know there’s more than just smoke.”
Steve rubbed his bottom lip. “Yeah...I don’t know. I’m not in the band so I couldn’t say for sure, I’m only a lowly peon.”
“Maybe, but they trust you,” Eddie scoffed. “Look I get that you don’t feel like you think the band can trust someone else with this, but agents are there to protect the band. They could lose all their business if they went around blabbing shit about their clients.”
“Maybe they should just get yours,” Steve joked. “Who is it?”
“Nancy Wheeler.”
The color drained from Steve’s face and he shook his head. “We’ll find someone else. I don’t–can’t trust her with a secret that big.”
Eddie tilted his head to side as he considered Steve’s odd reaction.
“Oh shit.”
Steve laughed weakly. “Yeah, oh shit.”
Nancy was another one of Hawkins High’s alums. Bright and powerful, smart and capable. Steve could see why Corroded Coffin had gone with her. Only he couldn’t trust her to hand him a knife, much less a secret as big as this one.
They had dated before she decided that he wasn’t ambitious enough for her and dumped him for Jonathan Byers. But not before cheating on him with the guy first.
Nancy had stabbed Steve in the back once, he had no desire to give her the ammunition to do it again.
Eddie paid for their drinks, and then took his hand to lead him outside. He pulled them into a small alleyway, barely big enough to fit them both, where they would have some privacy.
Eddie took Steve’s face in his hands and pressed their foreheads together, letting their breaths mingle. Steve’s fast and panicked, Eddie’s slow and calm.
Eventually Steve’s breaths matched Eddie’s and Eddie sealed their lips together.
“You’re okay, baby,” he soothed. “I’ve got you. You’re safe in my hands. You know that right?”
Steve gasped, taking in air as if coming up from the bottom of a vast lake and break the water for the first time.
Eddie combed his fingers through Steve’s hair as the other man fought to get his emotions under control.
Steve let out one more shuddering breath and Eddie smiled. “There you are. I was getting worried for a moment there, sweetheart.”
“I’m sorry,” he murmured. “Opening up our secret to other people is always terrifying, but Nancy? That’s monster level dread right there.”
Eddie continued to run his fingers through Steve’s hair. “I understand that, but do know what would happen if she did that? She wouldn’t just lose you as a client, she would lose her whole catalogue of clients. Corroded Coffin included. And not just because of who we are to each other. It would be such a serious breech of confidentiality that she would literally be scorch earth’ing her whole career.”
Steve let out a long breath. He knew that objectively. He knew that she also could just not take him as a client. Decide that The Fallen wasn’t worth the risk.
“What if we sent in Robin as Celeste Baptiste and see what she thinks?” Eddie suggested. “You know Robin’s instinct is killer. It’s why she’s such a good manager. Or even better, why doesn’t Robin meet with Chrissy and have Chrissy go over agents with her and see what Robin thinks? That okay?”
Steve smiled and brought their lips together. “You take such good care of me, Eds. I love you so much.”
“Back ‘atcha, pretty boy.”
Eddie’s phone rang and he picked it up.
“‘Ello?”
He pinched his nose and sighed. “Yeah. How long?”
There was brief pause as he listened to the other person on the line.
“I’ll check Mancharo’s and El Dios and you check out that strip of bars a few blocks south of the hotel.”
Again he listened, his brows furrowing deeper.
“Then I’ll just hit up El Dios and let you know if I find him,” Eddie muttered and then hung up.
“Fuck!”
Steve rubbed the wrinkles between Eddie’s nose until his pinched expression soften.
“That was Jeff,” Eddie murmured when he was calm enough. “Gareth stormed out of his therapy session today and hasn’t been seen since. They thought he was in his room, but when they checked, he was gone.”
Steve ran his hands up and down Eddie’s arms soothingly. “I’m sorry, Eds. Do you want me to go with you?”
Eddie wanted to answer yes, but if Gareth saw Steve he would absolutely pitch the biggest bitch fit outside of literal toddlers.
“Nah,” he murmured instead. “You’ve had a rough day. I’ll call you when I have news, okay?”
Steve nodded. “I love you, babe.”
“Back ‘atcha, darlin’.”
Steve sighed as he watched his boyfriend hail a cab.
He pulled out his phone and went right to Gareth’s Instagram. His location was off but Steve almost recognized the background.
He called Robin and sent her the picture. “We’ve been here before, right?”
“Uh...” she said. “Yeah! Dustin’s twenty-first! The Devil’s End!”
“If you weren’t a lesbian and I wasn’t dating Eddie I would kiss you on the mouth!”
“Eww...” she huffed. “You going to tell me what this is about?”
“Meet me at the apartment and I’ll fill you in.”
Then he sent off a brief text to Eddie.
-Try The Devil’s End. It’s where we had Dustin’s birthday bash.
The reply was almost immediate.
-God I love you.
-On it, babe.
Steve smiled to himself as he put his phone away. He couldn’t repay Eddie back for how kind he had been tonight, but at least he could help with this.
He just hoped Gareth was okay.
He knew that this business could and would chew up the best of people and spit them back out again without a single care.
Having a double life helped keep Steve and his friends humble. But he had no doubts in his mind that that could change at any moment.
Because if it wasn’t the business that would do the trick, it would be the isolation of not being able to tell anyone about what they really do for a living.
If he was being honest with himself, had it not been for Eddie figuring out who he was, Steve would have bet on himself being the first to fall to the Beast.
Both of his parents were raging alcoholics and he knew for awhile there when he was in middle school, his mom had gotten into some pretty heavy drugs.
It was why his high school days were so lonely. Because his dad was either hauling her off to rehab, or going on long trips where he would cheat on her and the cycle would begin again.
But now, with Eddie to keep him grounded?
His bet was on Simon. Hands down. The guy was very insecure outside of his alter ego Asmodeus.
If Steve only knew.
Trouble was brewing on the horizon, just not in the way Steve had thought it would go.

(sorry about the last one! but not that sorry. this builds on it so read that part first!)
Spring 1986
Just once, Steve would like to go twelve months without the world falling apart. Just 365 days without some fresh new hell opening up. That doesn’t seem like so much to ask, but apparently, life has other ideas.
He’s currently curled up on a chair in the Wheeler’s basement for the second night in a row. In the past seventy-two hours, he’s been threatened with a broken bottle to his neck, found out about two murders at the hands of some unknown dark wizard from the Upside Down, and almost watched Max get taken herself. And it’s still ongoing.
Everyone else is asleep except for Robin, who has the first shift watching over Max. Steve can see her through the dark, sitting with her back against the couch by Max’s feet. Robin’s fingers are drumming silently along her knees, tapping out a frantic rhythm. Steve knows he should be trying to sleep, because he has the next shift in two hours, but he can’t. Not when his mind is miles away in a boathouse on Lover’s Lake.
Eddie is alone over there.
He must be terrified. He was only thrust into this other world a few days ago when he watched a girl die right in front of him. If Steve can’t stop picturing Max lifting into the air while they waited helplessly below, he can only imagine how horrific the afterimages of Vecna’s curse being carried out to completion must be. Eddie was a babbling mess when they found him, and it can’t have possibly gotten easier being stuck in that boathouse by himself the last couple of nights. That has to be the worst part, the being alone. Whenever Steve has been recovering from his brushes with the Upside Down, he’s never truly been alone; there have always been friends to turn to, even if he’s not always the best at doing so. There’s still a world to escape to, places he can go to feel normal again. But Eddie has no one, confined to a small box while police and pissed off jocks hunt for his blood.
Steve doesn’t want Eddie to be alone. He has no idea if Eddie would even want to see him considering how they left things, but Eddie deserves to have someone by his side right now. So Steve lowers his feet off the chair and leans over to tap Robin’s shoulder. She starts and looks at him.
“What’s wrong?” she whispers.
“Nothing,” Steve says, “Everything’s fine. Just—I’m heading out for a bit.”
She angles to face him more fully. “What?” she asks, “You can’t leave.”
“It’s just for a little while,” he assures her, “I’ll be back by the time I need to watch Max.”
“Steve—”
“It’s important, okay?”
“Steve, no offense,” Robin hisses, scooting closer and grabbing his ankle. “But there is nothing in the world that could be more important than sticking together right now.”
Sighing, Steve lowers himself off the chair and sits on the ground next to her. He wanted to avoid this, but it looks like it’s the only way. Maybe it’ll feel good to tell her. He leans close to her to whisper as softly as he can. “You remember last summer, when I told you about that guy I liked?”
She nods.
He leans even closer, voice almost inaudible. “It’s Eddie.”
It’s too dark to see her expression, but she grabs his hand and squeezes it. “Oh,” she whispers, “I understand.”
“I just want to make sure he’s okay,” he says, “He’s been alone for days.”
There’s a pressure as she leans her head on his shoulder. “Go to him,” she says, “I’ll cover for you if anyone wakes up.”
“I love you, Robin,” he says, turning and kissing her on the forehead. Then he gets to his feet. “Thank you.”
He ascends the stairs as quietly as he can and goes out the front door. Thank God he parked his car at the end of the driveway behind Nancy’s. He pulls away from the house and starts heading for the lake.
As he drives, he thinks about the last time he saw Eddie five months ago. He still doesn’t understand what happened. He thought things had been going well with Eddie—he thought they really liked each other. Steve knows he should have done more to tell Eddie how he felt. He knows he shouldn’t have deflected every time Eddie tried to have a conversation about what they were. He knows he was scared. But he thought they’d have time. Instead he’d shown up that day and Eddie had ended things without telling him why. The only reason Steve can think of is his own cowardice. And he hates himself for not being more ready. Maybe if he had been, he and Eddie would still be together.
Steve isn’t sure if Eddie will turn him away now. The two times they’ve seen each other since this all started, Eddie acted like they’d never even met. He came rocketing out of that boat brandishing a broken bottle, holding it up to Steve’s throat like he might really slit it. That was the first time Steve had seen him since he’d slammed the door in his face.
Parking outside of Reefer Rick’s place, Steve gets out of his car and makes his way to the boathouse, wondering what his reception will be like. He just hopes Eddie doesn’t send him back. Steve wants to help, wants to be there for Eddie. He hopes Eddie lets him.
He eases the door to the boathouse open. “Eddie?” he calls softly.
There’s no answer. It occurs to him that Eddie may be sleeping. If so, he doesn’t want to disturb him. Steve moves quietly inside, shutting the door behind him. He looks around, but doesn’t see Eddie. He wouldn’t have left, would he? Or maybe he was found, either by the police or by Jason and his cronies.
Steve moves through the boathouse with more purpose, trying to hold off the panic threatening to bubble up. “Eddie,” he calls again, not daring to raise his voice for fear of alerting the neighbors.
Again, there’s no answer, but he hears the faintest shuffling from the boat. Relieved, Steve crosses to it and pulls the tarp back. Eddie is lying on his back, staring up at Steve with those big eyes.
“Why are you here, Harrington?” he asks.
“I came to check on you,” Steve says.
Eddie looks away from him. “Great, well, you’ve checked on me,” he says, “You can go now.” He reaches for the end of the tarp and starts to pull it back over himself, but Steve grabs it before he can.
“Hey,” he says, “You’ve been alone for days, and you’ve seen some shit. You—” Steve digs in his jacket pocket and produces a pack of cigarettes. “Do you want one?”
For a long moment, Eddie just stares at the offered cigarette, not moving. Then with a small sigh, he sits up and climbs out of the boat to take it. Steve holds out his lighter, but Eddie gets his own out of his pocket. He pushes past Steve and sits on the bench along the wall. After a moment, Steve sits next to him. Eddie won’t look at him.
This is going great so far.
“Do you want to talk about it at all?” Steve asks.
Eddie shrugs. “I’ve already said all there is to say.”
“Alright.”
True to his word, Eddie is silent. Steve listens to the quiet breathing of the man next to him, the long inhales as he takes a drag. He listens to his own heartbeat, loud and persistent.
“How—” Eddie begins. Steve looks over at him and sees Eddie’s hand covering his face. “How do you do it?”
“Do what?”
“This. Handle this shit. I—I feel like I’m losing my fucking mind.”
Steve angles his body, knees almost touching Eddie’s. “Well, you’ve seen me,” he says, “You’ve held my hand through enough panic attacks to know I don’t exactly handle it.”
Eddie drops his hand and looks at Steve, expression pained. Steve holds his hand out. Eddie doesn’t take it. Instead he folds his arms around himself, angling away from Steve. Steve retracts his hand.
“I’m fine,” Eddie says, “Still don’t know why you bothered to come.”
“Because I didn’t want you to be alone,” Steve says, “Because I care about you.”
That earns him a huff of air, an annoyed exhale. “Yeah, whatever.”
“What is that supposed to mean?” Steve asks. “You don’t think I care?”
Eddie takes a long drag of the cigarette. “Why should I think you do?”
Steve stands abruptly. This isn’t getting him anywhere. He wanted to be helpful, but he’s not going to stick around if Eddie’s just going to be a dick. “Alright,” he says, “I’ll go. I need to take over watching Max for Robin, anyway.”
“Yeah, wouldn’t want to keep Robin waiting,” Eddie says drily.
Hands on his hips, Steve turns to stand right in front of Eddie. “What, you have a problem with Robin now too?”
“Why would I have a problem with her?” Eddie asks, shrugging. “Everyone loves your girlfriend.”
“She’s not my girlfriend.”
Eddie raises the cigarette to his lips again. “You expect me to believe that?”
“Well, yeah, considering it’s the truth,” Steve says, “We’re just friends.”
“But you’re clearly sleeping together.”
“Absolutely not, man,” Steve says, “Why the fuck would you think that?”
Brow furrowed, Eddie waves the cigarette vaguely. “You’re so…close,” he says.
“Yeah, she’s my best friend,” Steve says, crossing his arms. “And we survived Russian torture together, so yeah. We’re gonna be close.”
“You survived—what?”
“Not the point. The point is Robin and I are not together. Never have been, never will be.”
Eddie is staring up at him, mouth slightly open. Steve can’t quite read his expression. “You…” Eddie says. “You’re not?”
“No, definitely not,” Steve says. “Is that why you’re so mad at me?”
Eddie stubs out the cigarette and drops it, then runs his hands over his face. “I saw you,” he says, voice muffled. “In October, I saw you at the diner in town all cuddled up with her. I thought she was your girlfriend.”
“You thought—but, Eddie, I was with you.”
Still hiding behind his hands, Eddie shakes his head slightly. “I thought she was your girlfriend and that you were fooling around with me behind her back.”
Steve is frozen to the spot. This is why Eddie ended things? Not because Steve wasn’t ready to label things but because Eddie thought he was a cheater?
“I wouldn’t do that,” Steve says, his voice coming out angrier than he expected. “And it sucks that you think I would.”
He turns and takes a step towards the door, but he’s held back by a hand on his wrist. “Wait, Steve,” Eddie says. He stands and moves around to face Steve. “I—I really thought—”
“I’m not that kind of person,” Steve says. He’s not. Even in his King Steve days, he never kept multiple girls on the line. When he loves, he’s all in. He’s not a fucking cheater.
Eddie puts his hands on Steve’s arms like he’s trying to keep him from running away. “I’m so sorry I thought that,” he says, “I just—I didn’t understand why you would be holding her like that. I mean, how was I supposed to know what your relationship was like? It’s not like you ever introduced me to any of your friends.”
That feels like a slap in the face. “You could have asked.”
Shaking his head slightly, Eddie goes on. “Sorry, no, I shouldn’t be trying to blame you, I—” He pinches his eyes shut. “It really didn’t make any sense. I didn’t understand why you were with me. You with me. It doesn’t—I mean, look at me.”
“What do you mean?”
“You’re—Steve Harrington. The golden boy,” Eddie says, opening his eyes. “And I’m a freak.”
“No you’re not,” Steve says.
“I am,” Eddie says, “You know I am.”
“Okay, well, I really fucking liked you,” Steve says, “Whatever you are. I don’t care if you have, like, unconventional interests. I really wanted to be with you.”
Eddie looks like he might cry. “I wanted that too,” he whispers.
“I wish you had talked to me,” Steve says, voice gentler. “I wish you’d told me what you thought you saw so I could have explained then.”
Eddie closes his eyes. “I thought I already had my answer,” he says, “I thought you—I mean, I tried to talk to you, about what we were. And you always avoided it.”
“I’m sorry,” Steve says. Tentatively, he lifts a hand to Eddie’s hair and Eddie leans in ever so slightly to the touch. “I should have told you how I felt about you. But I was scared. I mean, I’ve never liked a boy until you. It’s been—terrifying.”
“I understand,” Eddie says, opening his eyes. “And I’m sorry. Maybe we both kind of suck at talking.”
Steve smiles slightly. “Yeah, maybe.”
“Do you think we could, uh, start over?” Eddie asks, “Pretend all of that never happened and just go from here?”
“I’d like that,” Steve says. He puts his arms around Eddie, burying his face in the other man’s shoulder and they stand like that for a while, clinging to each other. He knows they’ll need to talk more, work out the issues that led them to this place and figure out where they’re going from here. But for now, he’s happy to just be touching Eddie.
“Hey, Steve?” Eddie asks, gripping him a little tighter. “Will you stay for a little while?”
Steve runs a hand through Eddie’s hair. “Of course I will.”
Eddie takes his hand and leads him over to the boat, climbing back in. They lay side by side on the bottom, tucked close together. It’s not even remotely comfortable, but Steve doesn’t really care. All that matters is that he’s holding onto Eddie and Eddie is holding him back.
“When do you have to leave?” Eddie asks, face against Steve’s shoulder. Steve checks his watch.
“In about an hour.”
“And why—you said you’re watching Max?” Eddie says. “Why does she need watching?”
“Oh,” Steve says. He sort of forgot that Eddie doesn’t know. “Vecna almost got her.”
“Holy shit,” Eddie says, tilting his face to look at Steve. “Is she okay?”
Steve shrugs. “I think so. No broken bones or anything,” he says, “But she’s definitely freaked out. We all are.”
Shifting a little, Eddie frowns. “How did she survive?”
As quickly and coherently as he can, Steve explains the discovery that Robin and Nancy made about music and Max’s description of what she saw. He stumbles over the explanation, since he’s not sure he completely grasps it. He wishes Dustin was here to describe it better. But Eddie nods along like he gets it.
“Music is powerful shit, man,” he whispers.
Steve nods. “Yeah, it saved her life,” he says, “We have her listening to the song on loop, and somebody staying awake to keep an eye on her in case she starts lifting again.”
He feels Eddie tense slightly, probably remembering Chrissy. “I’m sorry you had to see that,” he says.
“It was fucking terrifying,” Steve says, “I’m so sorry you had to go through it alone.”
Eddie tucks his face back against Steve’s neck, not saying anything. For a long time, they just hold each other. As terrible as the circumstances are, there is something oddly comforting about being in this boat with Eddie, bonded by their shared history and this new misery.
“You can sleep, if you want,” Eddie whispers eventually. “I’ll wake you up when you need to leave.”
“No, that’s okay,” Steve says, “You should sleep.”
“I’m not tired,” Eddie says, “I slept all day when it was light out. I can’t seem to fall asleep in the dark.”
Steve knows that feeling exactly. He’s gone through it enough times to know how much worse the darkness makes the nightmares. Now though, he’s so exhausted from the day that all he wants is to sleep. “Are you sure?” he asks.
“Sleep, baby,” Eddie murmurs, and Steve could cry from the return of that name. “I’ll wake you up.”

This was written in snippets on a discord server, thought I’d clean it up and slap it here! Haven’t been able to stop thinking about roadie Steve 💕 There’s a lil bit of spice in here, just to keep things fun :)
Steve, after everything that happens, doesn’t really know what he wants to do. Working at Family Video is… fine, but Robin is finished with her gap year and now she’s getting acceptance letters and scholarship offers from colleges and trying to decide where to go.
She keeps asking him if he’ll be okay and Steve tells her to go because he’s excited for her! She’s excited too! And yeah, they’ve had nights where she stays over with him and they cry about how they won’t get to be attached at the hip, but they can’t stay in Hawkins, it’s not realistic. They’ll never be… okay, if they stay.
She goes off to college and absolutely loves it, she thrives there, and they’re in constant touch, but Steve feels like he’s lost a part of himself. His platonic soulmate, the woman he’s so used to just… being there, is gone. So when he’s invited to a Corroded Coffin gig, he jumps in, thinking that if nothing else, it’ll be a solid distraction from his wallowing.
They’ve played a few cities in Indiana, a frontman accused of satanic murders is pretty great for their image surprisingly enough, they’re just waiting for Gareth to finish school before they jump in fully. The show is pretty local, just barely outside of Hawkins city limits, but it’s refreshing for Steve to be… somewhere else, just for a night. And the gig is fun! Steve can’t hear the words to the songs too well, can’t keep up with the music so great, but he can feel it in his chest. And he loves the energy of it.
Partway through, something goes wrong with one of the amps and they’re trying to get it fixed. Steve offers to give them a hand, and in just a few minutes and some tinkering he has it working again. And the pats on the back from the guys and the bright smile from Eddie sparks something in Steve.
The next day, he finds himself in the library, checking out books on electrical equipment and instruments and anything he can think of, and starts reading up. By the time Gareth graduates and CC has a few shows set up, Steve comes along. He’s able to handle any technical difficulty they come across, he’s the guy making sure it all goes smoothly.
And suddenly they’re recording their first album and blowing up and Steve is their go to guy for live shows, he’s the first person on their payroll. For awhile, he’s the only one, he runs everything that isn’t playing music, but eventually, a few more hands are needed.
Eddie makes it clear that Steve is in charge, naturally trusting him to be the head of the road team.
The band is doing great and soon enough they’ve upgraded from Eddie’s van and Jeff’s station wagon to an actual tour bus. Eddie is so amped about it and it’s hard not to let his energy be infectious.
Of course, driving across hours of plains dims some of the excitement, but Eddie and Steve start to come up with… interesting ways to pass the time. Ever since they left Hawkins, Steve’s eyes have been wandering a bit. Turns out metal heads are his type, who could’ve guessed?
At first it was making out in an alley in Indy with a girl who had shaved hair and piercings shoving him against the wall and making him beg to eat her out. Then it was the boy in a leather jacket in the mosh pit in the middle of summer, sweat slick skin covered in ink and a gentle hand but commanding voice in a motel room. And then it was his own fantasies, covering his mouth as he touched himself in a shared hotel room bathroom thinking about Eddie, who else?
So there’s an ongoing game of gay chicken and Eddie hasn’t been quiet about his own conquests along the way. It’s little things, Steve shifting a little closer to Eddie on the bus, a hand on the thigh that creeps upwards, whispering in hushed tones just a little too close.
It finally snaps in California, a sold out show attended by Argyle and Jonathan (who moved back out west a few months after the world didn’t end). They’re slipped a few “party favors” before heading off to a motel for the night, a reprieve from the rumbling, uncomfortable mattresses on the bus. One of the rooms only has one bed because of a booking issue and before anyone can complain, Eddie snatches the key and declares that “Stevie’s with me”.
So the band splits up to go to the rooms, Eddie has to wait while Steve inspects the bed closely to make sure there’s nothing gross, and then they settle in, still sticky with sweat and buzzing with adrenaline. Eddie lights a joint and teases Steve a little with the way he groans and sighs as he takes a hit, but Steve gives as good as he gets
He straddles Eddie’s lap and asks to shotgun in this pretty, lilting voice, cocking his head in a way that makes his eyes, sparkling with mischief, catch the light just so. And Eddie isn’t going to deny a pretty boy on his lap, not when he’s seen Steve in those tight jeans. He takes another hit and tugs him in by the shirt collar, breathing out the thick smoke into Steve’s waiting, parted lips. And Eddie is treated to the sight of thick eyelashes fanned against freckles cheeks, the expanse of pale skin on Steve’s neck as he tilts his head back to avoid blowing the smoke back in Eddie’s face.
And Eddie can only restrain himself so much as he leans in and kisses the faded scar that cuts across Steve’s adams apple. Steve licks his lips and is looking at Eddie’s mouth when he opens his eyes and something between them snaps. He leans in and whispers, “kick me if I’m misreading this” before kissing Eddie on the lips. It’s firm, but not messy, charged and searching. Eddie has to take a second to remember how to move his limbs, holding Steve tight around the waist, careful not to bump the lit joint against his shirt.
He kisses back, but it’s not enough, he needs more, wants to ride out the low thrum of the coming high with Steve. He pulls back just long enough to take another hit and lifts a hand to cup Steve’s jaw. He breathes the smoke out, letting his tongue trace Steve’s lip as he takes it. Steve holds the smoke like a fucking expert, tangling his tongue with Eddie’s as he lets the smoke back out from the corner of his mouth. Eddie distantly wonders if he looks like a dragon like that, a thought that has him giggling. And then it’s really hitting him that he’s 1) a rockstar 2) making out with his high school crush Steve Harrington and 3) absolutely rock hard.
Judging by the pleased expression on Steve’s face when they part for air and the way he grinds his hips down slow and teasing, he definitely noticed that last part.

personal fav fics of 2023
here are some of my favorite fics that i've written this year!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway, It's About Old Friends ; Steddie | 25k | ongoing
In 1987, Steve Harrington ends up going on a cross-country trek with Eddie Munson and it ends as well as one might think. In 1992, after a chance meeting in an airport and a weekend attending the same wedding, they go their separate ways. In 1998, they become friends.
Young, Scrappy, & Hungry ; Ronance | 11k | ongoing
Nancy Wheeler and Robin Buckley find themselves working for the same office. Their similarities start and end with their passion. Where Nancy is a cut-throat workaholic, Robin is more subtle about the work that she does. Where Robin is personable, Nancy is ready to fight anyone who stands in her way. Can they set aside their differences and work together as a team to keep the Congresswoman's seat in her highly contested district? Or will they let their silly little rivalry get in the way of doing the work that they both have dedicated their young adult lives to?
Catch Me (I'm Falling) ; Steddie + background Wheelingham | 32k | complete
He punches a number onto the keypad and hands it back to Steve. Before he can fully bring the phone back into his possession, Eddie takes hold of the dangling Hello Kitty charm, using it to pull Steve back toward him, just a bit. “No funny business, Harrington.” Steve looks at him then down at his cell phone, the rhinestones on it leftover from Robin’s bedazzling phase and the Hello Kitty charm he’s holding hostage and then back up at him. “Get a fucking clue, Munson.” He laughs and snaps his cellphone shut. He doesn’t wait for Eddie’s blank stare to catch on before he’s turning to leave. - or - the early 2000s college cheerleading AU that nobody asked for.
Faces Freedom With A Little Fear ; Steve Character Study + background Steddie | 7k | complete
Her eyes were filled to the brim with tears as they sat there, both adults now. Adults technically, and even if Steve felt like he'd grown a hundred times over in the last few years, he still felt like a little boy watching his sister watch him. The fear in her eyes more chilling than any of the monsters he's had to face. If only she knew what he had been up to these last three years. - Steve Harrington's older sister shows up.

Works in Progress
Okay, this is literally every single work in progress that I currently have on my drafts!
I am the worst at summaries so I put the literal request underneath each one of them 😊 If it's not here, I didn't get the requests, loves so, let me know 😁
I know it's a lot and I really hope to get all of them up soon, it's gonna take me a while, but they are coming! if you'd like to request a preview of one, go ahead 😊 polls might come back in the future since they seem to be working somehow! I'll also be updating my Masterlists
I would like to thank you all again so much for yyour requests, love and patience!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Steve Harrington
Drabble (Untitled) [Mixing 2 requests]
1. wishingtobeforeveryoung1019 - Hey can I get a Steve and reader imagine where she works with Steve and they both like each other but they don’t realize it. They both think each other are way out of each other’s league. Can be Scoops Ahoy or Family Video, whichever you prefer. Fluffy please 2. Anonymous - Could you write a dialogue for Steve Harrington where the reader works at Scoops Ahoy and Steve and Dustin are in the back talking and Steve tells Dustin how much he likes the reader. Steve says "I really love y/n." and the reader opens the little window and says something like "you know I heard that whole conversation, right?" Steve and Dustin are both really shocked and Dustin runs out the back door, and Steve gets really flustered. And it ends with something really fluffy and cute, and they kiss. You totally don't have to write this, it was just an idea I had.
Ongoing Series - How Will I Know
You have walked the halls of Hawkins High unseen. If it wasn’t because Eddie Munson and his Hellfire Club had found you, you probably wouldn’t even have any friends. You knew someone like your all-time crush Steve ‘The Hair’ Harrington wouldn’t notice you in a million years. Until you get paired up for a project and he finally learns your name.
Tumblr media
Eddie Munson
One-Shot - Alone Together [Mixing 2 requests]
1. mycobrakai1972 - Hello love, me again 😁 but instead of Charlie I have a Eddie request (even through they closed, so if you have to much just keep it for later or if you don’t want to, just ignore my request). So I thought about the reader is to shy to play with the Hellfire Club but she really wants too. And Eddie is thinking about a campaign that he can play only with her like a D&D date night and that has a romantic twist in it? Love your writhing, and look forward to everything that is coming soon. 💗💗💗 2. lunamadhatter99 - Oohhh let me go with Eddie and a shy one😍 Reader is a shy, quiet one, she's always seen (IF she is seen) at the library and there is where our boy notices her, reading basically a book a day. He's a little shy himself, at first, more because he's worried his reputation would scare her, but one day he tries sitting at the same table and... oh boy, when she smiles at him, he's done. He would start slowly: small talk, little glances in the hallway too, making jokes every now and then. To make her feel comfortable, first thing, always. He would start to flirt, careful not to cross any line, but he made her feel so at ease that she. Flirts. Back! But that only means that he need to try try harder to see that sweet blush he loves so much😏
Ongoing Series - There Are Worse Things I Could Do
[Harrington!Reader] Your senior year was supposed to be the best one in your life. But when Jason broke up with you and turned the entire school against you by spreading rumors about you, you can count with your hand the people that talk to you. Dustin, Mike, Lucas, Max, Nancy, and Robin. But there might be a new one you can add to the list. One you never thought possible. Eddie Munson.
Tumblr media
Argyle
One-Shot - A Kind of Magic (might become a drabble)
Anonymous - Heyo! I’m the anon who requested the learning disability imagine! Talking specifics, I’ve got major dyscalculia & a bit of dyslexia. Social anxiety also didn’t help being called on in class, but yea 😅 thanks for asking!! 🥹🥹🥹
Dialogue (Untitled)
Anonymous - So I saw your post about shy!reader x anyone and I was wondering if you could do shy!reader x argyle where he introduces you to his friends in Hawkins (the older teens) and reader doesn't have like the best experience meeting new people so their scared and wants to like not see them because they have social anxiety and like he cuddles then I'm the end ( I always need Argyle cuddles)
One-Shot - Cielito Lindo
Not requested - [Byers!Reader] Argyle is staying with your family when his parents are out of town. You know he’s been feeling down because he has to celebrate his birthday without them. So, you try to do something to cheer him up. (Sequel to Build Me Up, Buttercup)
Ongoing Series - (500 Miles)
[Hopper!Reader] After moving to California with your sister and your new family, you think maybe you’ll finally get some peace. But, of course, you are now driving across the country in your boyfriend’s pizza van, on your way back to Hawkins.
Tumblr media
Billy Hargrove
One-Shot - Highway To Hell [Munson!Reader]
itslaqueefababy - Hey Idk if you’re taking request but since you have writers block, Maybe a Munson!reader x Billy Hargrove? Eddie and Billy hate each other and there’s a lot of drama and tension whenever they get around each other. It’s gets really annoying and out of control that reader eventually gets fed up and upset that they don’t care how she feels. She gives them the cold shoulder and silent treatment then eventually comes up with the idea to runaway on purpose for them to get along by searching for her and all? Something funny and angsty?
One-Shot - A Little Death [Mixing 2 requests] [This might be Hartington!Reader]
1. Anonymous - Where the reader breaks up with Billy because he has been toxic and Billy goes and tries to find love in other women. But he gets frustrated because they don't touch him (physically and mentally) the way the reader always did. He gets angry trying to teach them but none come close to the actual thing until he gets so frustrated that he crawls back to her and tries everything to fix it. 2. Anonymous - “I feel like I’m falling apart.” with Billy Hargrove?
One-Shot - RIP, Love [Munson!Reader]
Anonymous - Where the reader is known to break hearts. Not because its fun for her but she does it to protect herself and the person. She is convinced that whoever gets close to her heart either ends up hurting her or she ends up hurting them so she always ends it by leaving them - ultimately hurting them before they can hurt her. When Billy starts getting interested in her and she suddenly leaves just when he thought things were going good, he doesn't back down to find out why and once he does he makes it his mission to show her that he is there to stay and protect, despite being known for leaving and destroying. 2. Anonymous - since you are taking requests, could i request a Billy fic with the following prompts from the prompt list you talked about in your latest post ? "Wake up. You have to wake up. Please. For me." "Just, please don't leave me." "I don't want you to die for me. I want you to live for me." + "As you begin to fall asleep, you feel a gentle kiss pressed to your temple and a blanket draped over you."
Tumblr media
Steddie (Steve Harrington & Eddie Munson)
One-Shot - Running Up That Hill (I keep renaming it 😂)
Anonymous - I know you have many request and this one can definitely wait, but maybe Steddie x cursed!reader?? I need some angst and idk if this would help :/ but I understand if you don’t want to! Maybe one where reader bones end up snapping in the attic? It’s like Instead of max being cursed it’s the reader :)
Drabble - Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now
plk-18 asked - OK first of all i love your work!!! So I don’t know if your requests are still open and I’m really sorry if you already did something like that and I just forgot. But I would love a steddie one-shot, maybe they are not together yet but there is some sexual tension and we have a ‘only-one-bed’ situation👀🤍🤍
One-Shot - A Sunday Kind Of Love
Not requested - For six months, you had been fine with having a secret relationship with Steve Harrington and Eddie Munson. But that changes when a very special day for you approaches and you want them both by your side and for that to happen, a few rules might get broken.
Tumblr media
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
Tumblr media
Sirius Black
One-Shot - Out of The Woods [Lupin!Reader] (the request focuses more on Remus and the reader so I put it under Remus for now)
Anonymous - ahh your requests are open!! I love that!! but anyway, I could make a request where Remus has a younger sister who is a year or two below him and she discovers the way the Marauders found to help him deal with his problems during the full moons and decides what she wants to do the same for her brother but Remus doesn't allow it and they just fight about it until one night she decides to follow them anyway but ends up getting hurt because she's not an animagus like the rest of the boys? If you can make her be in an established relationship with Sirius I would appreciate it and sorry if I said something wrong this is not my first language
Drabble (Untitled)
oursilversoul - Heyy❤️ could yo write a Sirius black x slytherin reader where they somehow end up dancing together in the Yule ball with an enemies to lovers undertone? Thank you I love you soo much :)
Ongoing Series - Just Give Me A Reason
[Snape!Reader] Coming back for another year in Hogwarts meant you and your brother were away from your worst tormentor. But when your school tormentor finds out about it, things are about to change and you are not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. (Warning: mentions of abuse)
Tumblr media
Remus Lupin
Dialogue (Untitled)
Anonymous - Hiii i don’t know if u are writing now but i’d love to read your take on remus being unconscious for a prolonged amount of time after transformation and fem!reader taking care of him and talking to him. fast forward to him waking up and confessing he heard everything she said while he was sleeping. i just love the way you write and it would be fun to read it!!
Drabble (Untitled for now)
2. Anonymous - HI! Could you do the prompt “We’ve been by each other’s sides for years, you think I’m gonna leave now?” With Remus Lupin where they're still in school and someone really close to the reader (like someone in their immediate family) died and the reader is miserable and asks Remus not to leave her too? Btw your work is amazing!
Ongoing Series - Too Good At Goodbyes
Twelve years ago, Lily and James Potter were brutally murdered. Twelve years ago, Sirius Black was sent to Azkaban for a crime he did not commit. Twelve years ago Remus Lupin left you to take care of a one-year-old Harry on your own. Twelve years ago Severus Snape was the only person who was there for you. And now, Remus is back to teach at Hogwarts with you, as Harry courses his third year, and Sirius Black escaped Azkaban.
Tumblr media
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
Tumblr media
Charlie Weasley
She Is Love (One-Shot) [Mixing 2 requests]
1. Anonymous - something about a shy reader, who's friends with the twins. Charlie and the reader have a crush on each other and he loves to see her blush and get all nervous, so it's like his mission to make her blush a lot, she kinda likes it though. But when someone else does try to tease the reader, not in a comfortable way, unfortunately, Charlie comes to the rescue and later on confesses his feelings. 2. Anonymous - I am begging for Charlie kissing shy!reader for the first time please
One-Shot - I'm Yours [Mixing 2 requests]
1. Anonymous - One where he gets jealous because of how close you’ve always been to Fred and George, even though Charlie really has nothing to worry about. 2. Anonymous - I have a dialogue request for Charlie Weasley and “Pay attention to me” where maybe the reader is friends with the twins and she’s having a ‘situation’ with charlie that no one knows about?
Drabble (Untitled)
Anonymous - Hi friend! Can I interest you in a dialog prompt for Charlie Weasley and “I’m sorry but I love you and I’m not going anywhere?”
Tumblr media
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
Tumblr media
Evan Buckley
Drabble or One-Shot (Untitled)
Anonymous - Could I request a Buck x plussize reader? One where someone says something mean about the reader and buck defends her and comforts her after? Idk I just feel like I need some buck fluff in my life 😂
Drabble or One-Shot - Late Night Talking
Anonymous - Can you write a Buck x reader fic where they both work at the 118 and are really good friends. They both have a crush on each other. One night reader comes to visit him at his apartment because she doesn't want to go home(she still lives with her parents and they have a argument or something) Buck is happy to see her but also knows that something is wrong. They spend some time together and maybe there is a love confession at the end.
Tumblr media
Eddie Diaz
Drabble or One-Shot - Cramps
Anonymous - One being eddie and the reader are going about they're day. Reader feels unwell but thinks nothing of it until they get back from a call/at the end of one and reader has appendicitis so they rush her to the hospital? Eddie is there when she wakes up and looks after her.
Drabble or One-Shot - Proposal
Anonymous - eddie is planning to propose to reader and he's all fluffy and cute about it?? Maybe gets Chris involved and the team are congratulating them? All fluffy and cute again.

Note
the end goal of writing a good show (or story) isn't to please the fans, it is to write a good show that has interpersonal conflicts, personal conflicts andd story conflicts (like Steve and Nancy still having feelings for each other, Wills sexuality, and Eddie and Alexei dying, or even that Will never confesses his feelings, because the story is set in the 70s and 80s after all).
If the writers end up pissing the whole fandom off but make a show that is cohesive, structurally sound, and makes sense for the characters they have created (not the ones fandom have created), well then we all win, honestly.
If they end up listening too much to us fans, and thus end up making the characters do weird things (like if they didn't make the romantic feelings between Nancy and Steve linger - because that makes sense for people and especially those two, and the point of a show isn't always to sent a message about something revolutionary - Steve and Robin used most of season 3 talking about how they struggle with romantic love!), well then we all lose - even if it means Eddie won't come back or that byler isn't end game.
We need to stop acting like a writer's worst fear is or even should be pissing of the fanbase. Bad publicity is still publicity, and honestly why would they care what a bunch of people who've never taken a writing class in their lives think?
i am deeply confused as to why you are saying most of what you are saying to me right now and most of what i Do understand i disagree with and i also find your tone condescending but i'm just gonna ignore all of that to focus on the last two sentences of your ask. because i was gonna just delete this ask and move on but that last bit was so wild to me i just had to respond.
i've been talking about viewer response to stranger things mostly because stranger things is a massively popular show and one of the few remaining shows that gives netflix any sort of creative legitimacy. netflix has had a Lot of bad press recently and they don't have the reputation for quality that they once did. stranger things has been ongoing for a long enough time that netflix's reputation has pretty much completely changed from what it was in s1 (innovative, outside of the box, challenging traditional hollywood and telling stories that couldn't be found on linear television) to now being The Slop Factory that charges way too much money and still wants to make you watch ads. considering how crucial stranger things is to the netflix brand, i think it's very reasonable to assume that the writers don't want to piss people off with the ending.
also, considering how long the show has been ongoing and how passionate the fans have been, i think it's very reasonable for a writer to say, hey, i don't want the people who've been invested in my story for five years now to walk away from it feeling disappointed and unfulfilled. that's a very normal thought to have as a writer and i don't think that taking audience response into account is, like, counterproductive to making a good show. if anything it's kind of the opposite. how can you possibly write a good show if you never stop to think about how your audience will interpret and respond to the thing you're writing?
we also know that the duffers like fanservice! they're responsive to what becomes popular among fans and as such i think it's reasonable to factor "how fans would respond" into your guesstimates about how the duffers are likely to end the show. which is what i have been talking about. not what would make stranger things the most artistically sound, but what i think is most likely to occur.
i don't think that a writer's "worst fear" is or ought to be pissing off fans, but it is also deranged to say "honestly why would they care what a bunch of people who've never taken a writing class in their lives think?" by that logic, i could run around saying "why would they care what a bunch of people who've never gotten a degree in film think?" in order to argue that my opinions about media are somehow fundamentally of greater worth than other people's opinions. but i would obviously not do that because that would be an insane thing to say. in fact i think i said that as a joke on an episode of the long way round podcast once because it's so transparently stupid. i literally said it as a bit because it is such self-evidently bad logic.
anyway television writing is not some highbrow intellectual jerkoff session where you get to act like the fuckin uneducated rabble aren't allowed to have opinions about stories. in fact the entire goddamn point of television is to tell stories to a broad audience. most people on this earth will never take a writing class, but all people on this earth will hear stories, and watch stories, and read stories, and tell stories, and their opinions are not meaningless just because they haven't taken a fucking writing class. of course writers should fucking CARE what their audience thinks regardless of what classes they have or have not taken!! what, are these people good enough for you to take their time and money but not good enough to treat as living, thinking individuals capable of complex thought? jesus fucking christ man. my god

i wanna cut to the feeling (chapter 3)
Eddie Munson x Steve Harrington
Summary: Robin drags her best friend to a Corroded Coffin show. How were they to know sparks would fly between Steve and a member of the band? (aka, the fic where Steve fixes Eddie's hair before a show and falls in love immediately)
Word Count: 2.7K for this chapter, but it's an ongoing fic
Warnings: Everybody is a gay disaster, Hairstylist!Steve is a petty bitch, Rockstar!Eddie is a bit of a diva, Robin knows Steve too well, nothing crazy yet but I reserve the right to get crazy later
A/N: Here we go again, folks! I can't stop writing lol. Steve's jealousy in this chapter makes me laugh, so enjoy! PS, would anyone be interested in me creating fake lyrics to Corroded Coffin songs? As always, thanks for reading ❤️
Previous Chapter ~ Next Chapter
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“No way. Dude, that’s so fucking dope.” Eddie could not believe what he was staring at. “Guys! Come see this!” He gestured for the others in the band to come closer to him and this fan - Bri, that was her name - who had gotten a Corroded Coffin tattoo. She had an actual, permanent, badass tattoo about Eddie’s band, and that was the coolest thing that had ever happened to him. A tattoo? Hooooly shit. “Thank you, we are so honored.”
“You’re welcome,” she responded. “The song just meant a lot to me, you know? Like, I don’t know exactly what you were going through, but it’s so universal I think.”
The tattoo was a reference to one of the band's earliest songs, ‘86’  - written entirely by Eddie his senior year. He was flipping burgers at the time, which was totally humiliating, by the way, and they used to always use the term 86 when something ran out. Anyway, at that point in his life he felt rejected quite a bit. Left out. Eighty-sixed. You know?
It was probably their softest song, sound-wise, but that didn’t mean it was less angry than their other music. In fact, it was one he wrote while he probably felt the most angry, or hopeless at least. They hadn’t played it tonight, because it didn’t match the vibe, but it was one of his favorites.
And this girl, Bri, had a tiny 86 on the inside of her wrist. She had lots of tattoos, actually. He noticed one on her collar bone of a slice of watermelon.
“What’s this one for?” he asked, curious.
“I just really like watermelon,” she replied.
Eddie smirked. He kinda liked this girl.
-
“Tattoos are so cool,” Robin sighed, staring wistfully at her future date. “I wish I had one.”
“You can get one, you know,” Steve responded. “Oh, right. You do know, because of the time you dragged me to a shop and got all the way to the chair just to panic and run out of the store.”
“I thought we agreed to never mention that again.”
“It was relevant,” Steve shrugged.
He watched Eddie interact with Bri, like he was smitten or something. Steve wondered if that’s what he looked like. He figured he held it together enough before in the dressing room, but now? He really had to keep himself restrained.
This is fine. Pretending he didn’t like guys was something he used to do all the time. Eddie smirked at something she said, and ran his fingers through his beautiful hair. This is fine, god dammit.
Steve couldn’t get a good read on Bri, despite the intrigue. She was facing away from him, so it was hard to tell exactly how she was feeling, but she seemed somewhat receptive to Eddie’s charms. It’s just that she had also just accepted to go on a date with Robin.
Not that it’s bad for someone to accept a date and then flirt with other people. She was completely in her rights, and it didn’t really have anything to do with her anyway. With awesome, perfect, beautiful Bri who somehow had the attention of both Robin and Eddie. Fantastic.
Eddie was fully enraptured in his conversation with her, now.
Yes, okay, fine! Steve was kind of a jealous person! I mean, he had jealous tendencies. Or, more accurately, when he felt jealous he turned a little petty. If he had to have a bad quality, there are worse ones, you know? But otherwise, he thought he was a pretty good dude. He made decent money for a 24 year old. He was good at his job. He was loyal and protective, and he always tried to see the good side of things - tried being the key word there.
Eddie was way too good at flirting with these women, almost like it was nothing. How could he do that? Do the fans really mean that little to him that he’d just go after them all and wait for one to stick? It wasn’t the worst tactic, and it’s not like he was being disrespectful about it, but still. He was laying it on so thick it was insane.
Ah, shit. It was none of Steve’s business. Eddie could do whatever he wanted with whoever he wanted, but Steve had the petty, judgemental thought anyway - Am I attracted to a fuckboy?
-
“Well, it was so great to finally meet you. Hopefully I’ll catch you at another show sometime.”
Eddie was impressed at how cool and collected Bri was. She seemed to completely respect his work, and even though she was a huge fan and had a Corroded Coffin tattoo, she didn’t come off like she had an altar at home dedicated to them or anything like that - although Eddie couldn’t deny he’d still think that was dope.
“Yeah, I hope I do.” He smiled at her, genuinely, without a trace of the fake flirtation he was so used to putting on for these women. She smiled back, then waved goodbye and took off, leaving only Steve and Robin in front of him.
“Well, well, well.” Eddie’s eyes narrowed, eager to find out how this conversation was going to go. “If it isn’t my knight in shining…polo?” He noticed Robin snort at his joke, but Steve crossed his arms, defiant.
“Fuck you, it’s a Cuban collar.” Eddie’s eyes widened in surprise, which was the first big reaction Steve had been able to get from him. It’s kind of what he was going for, despite the fact he was coming off a bit aggressive. “And I don’t own any shiny clothing, that’s tacky.” He allowed the corners of his mouth to turn upwards just enough to show that he was, in fact, being a dick as a joke. Robin shot him a suspicious glance, and he knew it was only a matter of time before she figured him out, like she always did.
Steve tended to act kind of mean like this towards guys he liked.
“Please forgive my friend, it’s well past his bedtime,” Robin chimed in, sending another quick glare in Steve’s direction.
“I’ll let it slide since he saved my ass earlier,” Eddie replied. “Good to see you, Buckley.”
“You remember me???” Steve tried not to groan at how excited Robin sounded. He really needed to calm down. None of this was really a huge deal, anyways. It had just been a long day, was all.
“Well yeah, you were the only person in English class worth talking to. Come here, doll.” Eddie pulled a completely stunned Robin into a hug - this was two unexpectedly positive interactions with people in a row for her, and entirely unprecedented. Steve felt a pang of jealousy at the idea of Eddie having a crush on Robin, or even just him flirting with her right in front of him. Why did Eddie get no sass at the term doll when Steve was always yelled at for calling her darling? It was a stupid reason to be jealous, considering Eddie had no shot with Robin, and besides, why did Steve care so much about who Eddie flirted with anyway? They literally just met.
“So you guys actually…knew each other back then?” Steve asked, confused.
“Not well or anything,” Robin clarified. “We just had one class together my Freshman year. But yeah, Corroded Coffin started in Hawkins. How do you think I learned about them?”
“Shit,” Steve said, eyebrows furrowed. “I had no idea.”
“Seriously, where the hell were you in high school?” Robin asked, annoyed.
“I know, right? It’s not like my presence was subtle,” Eddie chimed in.
“I was…busy, alright?” Steve had been dealing with his own problems back then, so he wasn’t really in tune with a lot of what was going on at Hawkins High. He knew about the sports teams, because he was on them. He knew who hosted the best parties, and who started the chlamydia outbreak senior year - that was a wild few weeks.
“Yeah, busy being a douchebag,” she teased. Eddie burst out laughing, which pissed Steve off even more.
He didn’t know Robin back then, but she knew him, and she made it very clear they would not have been friends. But none of that mattered, because Steve matured a lot once the stupid teen pressure of popularity, social status, and the constant need to look cool disappeared. Robin was the one who initiated all that change, basically, when they worked together the summer after he’d graduated. The rest is history.
“Well, I’m glad you came out tonight.” Eddie did not make it clear whether by you he meant you in the singular sense, as in Robin, or you in the plural, as in you all - you both.
Despite growing increasingly annoyed with Eddie and his stupid sexy hair, Steve obviously hoped it was the latter.
-
Steve was somehow both exactly what Eddie expected while simultaneously full of surprises. Perhaps it wasn’t Steve’s actions and words that were surprising, but the way they came off. Steve was actively being an asshole, just like he had been years prior, but this time it felt less obtrusive, and a whole lot more amusing.
Fuck you, it’s a Cuban collar. That was the most ridiculous sentence Eddie had ever heard, and Steve’s sincerity made it even better.
It must have been hot in the pit or something - Eddie noticed Steve had unfastened the button closest to his collar (the one of Cuban variety, apparently - although Eddie had never heard that term before in his life). His hair was a little more disheveled, his posture more relaxed, and the way he talked to Robin was vastly different than the way he’d appeared to Eddie before the show, or how he’d ever looked back in high school.
Ah, shit. Eddie sighed, unable to put the stupid thought away once it had been created. Am I attracted to Steve Harrington?
Eddie tucked that thought away to deal with later, because he sure as hell wasn’t going to let it ruin his fun for the night. It’s not like he never thought about Steve’s looks - of course he did. It’s that Steve had always been attractive. He had always been known to be attractive, by everybody. It’s part of the reason Eddie hated him so much.
And it was supposed to be the loser’s turn now - Eddie’s turn - because he was finally starting to feel confident in himself and his looks, and he was finally starting to become successful.
Everything was coming up Eddie Munson.
Steve Harrington and his perfect arms were irrelevant.
Eddie was extremely pleased to see Robin doing well, however. She had been in the lower ranks of popularity with Eddie, even though neither of them were ugly people or anything. Now, she obviously had more confidence (even though she was still the same in regards to her nervous energy). She was wearing a crop top, showing off her midriff. Eddie didn’t know her too well, but most people could have deduced that she would never have had the courage to wear something like that in high school. Not that she’d have been allowed to, for stupid dress code reasons, but whatever.
“Hey, man, you ready to head out?” Eddie looked next to him to see Jeff, and realized the rest of the band had already packed everything up while Eddie was busy talking to the people at the door. It was kind of a point of contention sometimes, between him and the rest of the band, that they always seemed to do the behind the scenes cleanup while Eddie got all the credit. But it’s not that he planned it that way - the fans were the ones who would make them famous, give them money. Eddie was basically networking, although it didn’t hurt that it stroked his ego at the same time. The band, however, were being all professional and shit, which was nice too but not super metal. They’d hadn’t gotten in trouble yet or anything, and that was all because of them.
Which was good. But Eddie couldn’t foresee himself ever missing out on these interactions outside the stage door. Just the way it was.
“Uh, yeah,” Eddie responded. He turned back to Steve and Robin. “You guys still down to come along?”
Robin nodded, enthusiastically, which was a reaction Eddie expected. He braced himself for whatever snark Steve was going to give him - maybe he’d even make some excuse about having to go home because it was sooo late or whatever - it was literally not even 9pm.
But, yet again, Steve surprised him.
“Yeah, where do you have in mind?”
Eddie didn’t know why Steve was so down to go out still, because of the way he’d continued to look mildly annoyed the entire night.
And then he remembered the goofy way he was jumping around, singing earlier at the show, and he figured that Steve was somewhere in there still. And that Steve seemed like a good time.
Eddie told them their usual bar that they went to when they were in the area, and they all agreed to meet there.
-
“What the hell is wrong with you? He was being totally nice, and you were acting like a jerk for no reason.” Robin was lecturing him in her tiny green car that she loved so much as they made their way to the bar Eddie told them to go to - neither of them had been before, but she’d heard of it from a coworker and it sounded like a fun place.
“I know, I’m sorry. I’ll be better at the bar, I promise,” Steve said.
“You better, because this is a really cool thing to have happened to us and I’m not letting you and your stupid romantic self-sabotaging tendencies ruin it.”
“Oh my god, it’s a mildly cool thing, Robin,” Steve insisted, before processing the rest of her sentence. There was no point in saying, what are you talking about? Because he knew. They both knew. “And I only self-sabotage when absolutely necessary.”
“That’s a lie,” Robin scoffed. “You’re getting special treatment from an actual Rockstar just because you were in the right place at the right time. Just submit to the fact that it’s awesome, okay?”
“Okay, fine!” Steve exclaimed with his hands in the air.
“So you have a crush on Eddie Munson,” she stated. Steve groaned at the words being out in the open. “What’s the big deal? We’re not in high school anymore, and Eddie’s a good-looking guy.”
“First of all, it’s not a crush. I barely know him,” Steve corrected.
“I think you crossed into at least acquaintance territory when he let you cut his hair,” Robin replied. Steve thought about this, and couldn’t disagree.
“It’s also when I crossed into gay panic territory,” he admitted. Robin laughed, then nodded in understanding.
“Yeah, seems like an intimate thing. I don’t know how you’ve gotten this far without wanting to bang a client before.”
“Robin!” Steve yelled, exasperated. “We’ve been over this. It’s -”
“Extremely unprofessional, I know. Steve, you have to loosen up a bit. You’ve gotten a little…” She paused, grimacing at the hole she’d put herself in.
“A little what?” Steve waited patiently for her to finish. She sighed.
“I’m sorry,” she prefaced. “But you’re so focused on work nowadays that we don’t have as much fun anymore. And it’s kind of like…Well, like when I first met you.”
“Noooo, you take that back,” Steve snapped, shocked. He wasn’t upset with her or anything, he just couldn’t believe he’d ever get that bad.
“Think about it,” she responded. So he did think about it. He thought about all the nights he’d stayed in, how he’d become a bit of a Debbie Downer, how he’d become less open and more judgemental. It had even been a while since he’d called and checked in on Dustin. He sighed.
“Shit. I’m sorry, Robin.”
“Don’t sweat it, just do better. Mmkay?”
He’d do anything for Robin, literally anything. So, he was going to be the most fun he could possibly be for the rest of the night. It was one drink, with a decent band, on a Friday night, and it was going to be fun, dammit. Minor crush on Eddie Munson be damned.
It was just a crush, right?
For your fic writer asks:
8) if you had to write a sequel to a fic, you’d write one for…
i mean i could cheat and say my ongoing true detective series... but i won't. i'll take this opportunity to talk a little bit about the hypothetical ronance companion to sub-culture, which obviously never emerged and likely never will.
it was going to be titled gut feeling, after the devo song, and it was going to fill in all the gaps left out of sub-culture, entailing robin and nancy getting together on the other side of the story. i wrote a chapter of it and never got any further but it was once again going to be chock full of queer history and music references. it was from nancy's perspective and its opening scene was her perspective of one of the early scenes in sub-culture, when eddie is complaining that steve doesn't seem to like him when they're washing dishes in the kitchen. essentially fanfiction of a fanfiction. and i do regret that i won't be going back to it but i think the moment has passed.
thank you for the ask! fic writer asks
About me!
Hello, I’m Iri!
If you have come here from my Stranger Things twitter or my AO3, welcome.
I’ve been around fandom for a long time and on tumblr for longer but I wanted to start fresh here.
I’m a multishipper to my core. I love Steddie in my grubby little rat heart but I’ll ship anyone with Steve, Eddie or many combinations of my little barbie doll characters.
I have no tolerance for any hate. I’m into a lot of Dead Dove concepts, A/B/O and I refuse to tolerate ship or character slander.
I’ll be accepting prompts and headcanons as I love interacting with people and bouncing ideas around.
I love to write and I’ve been trying to push myself to write more so I’d really love to be pushed out of my comfort zone to write! I have no preferences really on dynamics or top/bottom so if you’re interested we can bounce ideas around!
My AO3
My Twitter
Links to my current works!
Choking Loneliness to Hope : (Complete) A study of Steve Harrington through the years and his fascination with the hands of everyone around him
Make Me an Offer (I Cannot Refuse You): (OneShot) Steve just needs weed for this party and Tommy sends him instead. When Eddie tries to overcharge him for it, he figures the can work something out but he ends up getting a bit more than he bargained for when he makes too much of an open ended offer.
It's Crazy What You'll Do (For a Friend): (WIP) A season 4 that we could have had if they'd just let Gareth be dragged into everything along with Eddie because he would've smacked Eddie upside his self sacrificing head, I just know it
I Don't Like Anticipating my Face in a Red Flush: (Complete) The five times Eddie Munson kissed Steve on the cheek and the one time he didn’t
The Bat of it All: (OneShot) Kas survives the upside down and becomes the leader of the bats but there's a catch when his friends stumble back into the upside down
Love Comes Hand in Hand: Ongoing Series
I Want You (like you want me too): (Pt 1) Chrissy Cunningham and Steve Harrington are a cheerleading power couple but they have a secret life that no one knows about. When Chrissy looks a little closer at how her boyfriend looks at Eddie Munson, she devises her own plan to make them all happy.
In Good Hands: (Pt 2) A sequel to I Want You (like you want me too) from Wayne's point of view when he comes home in the morning
Raccoons, Cheese and Other Surprises: (Pt 3) Eddie finally got the boy AND the girl. No one told him he was dating a pair of Disney princesses though, complete with the wild animals that come with them.
i will grow bold (in a barren and desolate land): (Oneshot) Tommy walks in on a scene he never expected in his own parents bedroom, luckily he's invited to stay
Something New (for me, for you): (Oneshot) Eddie knows that Steve Harrington has a penchant for helping people lose their virginities and he’s finally feeling brave enough to anonymously throw his own hat in the ring. Unbeknownst to him, Steve has plenty of plans of his own.
ok so, what’s your honest personal opinion on harringrove? What do you like and dislike about it? do you ship anyone specifically with Robin or Chrissy?
(Eddie x Chrissy 4life fight me.)
And what’s your honest opinion on mrs wheeler?
Hey, IDK how long this has been sitting in my inbox, so sorry to keep you waiting.
Ahh, Harringrove my beloved. Honestly there's not a whole lot I don't love about the ship, aside from I do get annoyed when I see Harringrove fics where Billy is worse than canon just for added angst. Honestly, the Harringrove fans are a big part of why I love the ship. (There's a particular ship I avoid whenever possible, and a major part of it is the shippers.) There are so many talented artists and writers but more importantly, amazingly kind and open-minded people. I wish the rest of the Stranger Things fandom was like this.
Robin I'm pretty open minded about with ships, but my favorites are Robin/Vickie (yes we don't know much about Vickie but that's never stopped a rarepare shipper before; hopefully she'll get a bit more focus in Season 5), Robin/Heather, Robin/Chrissy (the mental image of Robin bluescreening over a cheerleader crush is so delightful I wish we'd gotten to see it, and Robin would be such a sweet if awkward girlfriend to Chrissy), and last but not least, Robin/Sheena (if you haven't read 'Rebel Robin' I highly recommend it and can provide a link to a free online version if necessary; Sheena Rollins is one of my favorite characters in the book and I found her way more interesting than Tammy 'Muppet Voice' Thompson).
As for my favorite Chrissy ships, I especially love Eddissy/Hellcheer, Robin/Chrissy (as mentioned above), and Harringrovesonham, or Steve/Billy/Eddie/Chrissy (I mostly blame @robthegoodfellow's ongoing WIP 'Only One Bed' for getting me into this ship).
Ooh, Karen. Not a fan of hers, at all. She's not the WORST mother on the show (Laura Cunningham I'm looking at you) but I HATE how so many people overlook her lusting over Billy just because Cara Buono is attractive. As my mother said when I told her about Karen's interactions with Billy, "She's a grown ass woman twice his age; she should know better." If the roles were reversed and it was Ted (or a genderswapped Karen) lusting after a 17/18 year old Billie Hargrove to the point of acting like a teenager at her workplace with friends, I can't imagine it would get the same amount of support/defense from fans.
stepping stones to hell ch. 3 (ronance fic)
this is chapter 3 of an ongoing fic, you can find all previous chapters here.
word count: 2,310
.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
After soundcheck Robin made her way back to the dressing room areas. She needed to drink water and ice her wrists with what little time she had left. She knocked on the first dressing room door, hoping Steve would be inside.
“Come in,” she had heard his voice from the other side.
Relief flooded through her just at the sound of her best friend's voice. She pushed the door open and groaned. As she shuffled into the room, Eddie was already holding a bottle of water out for her. She grabbed it thankfully and plopped down on the couch next to Steve. “Well, how’d it go?” He asked.
Robin waited until she had drunk almost half the water before answering. Trying to decide what to say. “It went well. I wasn’t expecting Nancy Wheeler to be there. Why didn’t you say that?”
“Well, I just know tensions used to be high between the two of you. I was afraid you might turn the offer down had I told you beforehand.”
Robin cocked an eyebrow. “What are you talking about? I’ve always liked Nancy. Sure, we may have not been compatible friends back in the day but.. I’ve always respected her as a person and not to mention she’s a hell of a writer.”
Eddie lifted his water, “Cheers to that.”
“It was nice though. Nancy asked me questions that mattered and that were centered around what I had to offer to men. It was a really good environment. I fear the pictures might look… Well, I don’t know.” She looked in the large mirror across from them. The lipstick didn’t look bad. She didn’t look bad. “Okay, fine. I look great. But, I just feel like posing is hard. I probably look like a stiff board.”
Steve laughed then patted Robin’s knee. Robin’s thoughts drifted back to the last question Nancy had asked her. “What do you guys think about me coming out?”
Steve tilted his head but it was Eddie who spoke first, “To who?”
“Like everyone?”
Robin could feel her cheeks heating, “It was just an idea. I just thought maybe,” she started but paused to hear any protests. But they both were silent and listening closely. “Well, you know the point of this is to like, be a role model right? Women for women and such. It’s important for young girls and women to have women in all industries they can look up to.”
“Okay, go on,” Steve encouraged.
“But, what about queer women? Like sure there’s representation with me doing an article cursing the patriarchy but what about what coming out could do? I just think of someone who was like me. Young, confused and just wanting someone to look to. I just-” she choked. Why was it so hard to say? “I just think coming out could give hope to people out there. Not just gay women, but anyone in our community. I’m just afraid of opinions.”
“Opinions of who? We already know your gay, babes,” Eddie said.
“Well, what about Nancy? Will she even publish a story focused on a gay woman?”
Robin bit her nail but Steve smacked her hand away from her mouth. “We just painted those.  But, no? Why would Nancy care?”
“Well, because, well-” But Robin had nothing to add to that. Of course an all woman magazine would be progressive.
“I think you’re more scared of yourself than anyone. Why?” Eddie asked.
Robin rolled her eyes. She hated when Eddie spoke deeply and started making sense. “I’m not scared.”
“Really? You’ve only ever had one girlfriend and you wouldn't even bring her on a double date.”
Robin threw up a hand, Steve had no right to bring that up. “I was young! I’ve been busy. I’m not dating because I don’t want to. I just can’t right now. I’m focusing on this band, obviously.”
Eddie and Steve exchanged a silent look and Robin groaned. She hated when they spoke with their minds. “Nevermind, just forget it.”
She stood up and grabbed an extra water. Before she made it to the door Steve stopped her, “Robs. You know we are proud of you no matter what. We will always support you and stand behind your decision. You can come out in this article or months down the road. Don’t ever ask us how you should do it. We are standing behind you no matter how.”
Robin’s chin quivered and she nodded, “I know that. I love you guys and I’m very thankful for you both. I’ll think about it. Maybe I’ll know after the show.”
Robin followed the hall down to where she knew dressing room ‘C’ was located. She tapped on the door twice and pushed it open before hearing a response. Gareth was sitting on the sofa, tapping drumsticks against a practice pad. He looked up and smiled, “Oh hey, Bubs. How did the interview go?”
Robin took a seat beside Gareth and sighed dramatically. She laid her head on his shoulder and he wrapped an arm around her. She couldn’t remember when Gareth had given her the nickname but it had been years of him using it. Their practice sessions had led to them becoming very close. He was practically her best friend after Steve. “It wasn’t bad, was it?”
“No, no. It was fine! Nancy Wheeler was actually the person interviewing me.”
“At least you knew someone. Did they take photos?”
Robin nodded, “They did. I felt sort of silly alone but I think it’ll be okay. The work they’re doing is great.”
“That’s good, I know how much it means to you.”
That was true. Robin was very grateful for all of her bandmates. On more than one occasion they had stood with her, signs held high at different protests. Not only gender equality protests but also LGBT protests. “I think it’s going to be good. Nancy is a phenomenal writer.”
“One of the best,” he agreed. Robin notes his silence and he knew he was thinking of her article she wrote for Eddie. Truly she deserved a large portion of credit when it came to Eddie’s name being cleared.
The door swung open quickly and Nancy’s head popped in. Her eyes went big, “Oh, I am so sorry! I didn’t mean to interrupt anything. I just missed something but,” Nancy looked down at her notes, her brows furrowing. “Uhm, I’ll just find you after the show.”
She turned and shut the door behind before Gareth or Robin could respond. “That was weird. Maybe go talk to her?” He suggested.
Robin debated it for a moment then stood up, letting out a small sigh. She exited the room and saw Nancy standing at the end of the hallway. She held the notepad in her hands but was looking straight forward at the wall. “Uh, Nancy? What did you miss?”
“Oh! Oh, uhm,” she paused. She looked down at the notes and sighed, “Nevermind. I had read it wrong, I thought I missed half of the answer to the growing up question but I drew an arrow to the margin and for some reason I missed that.” She inhaled, “Sorry I stormed in. I didn’t mean to interrupt your privacy. Steve just told me where to find you and,” she shook her head then smiled. “Please tell Gareth I’m sorry.”
Robin raised an eyebrow. Nancy was acting like she had walked in on something scandalous. “Oookay. It’s not like either of us were offended. He was just asking me about the interview.” Robin took another step toward Nancy, “You said you’re going to stay for the show?”
“Huh? Oh, yeah! Steve said it was fine and I wanted to take some notes to maybe have some stuff to fluff up your article. Is that okay?”
“Do whatever you want,” Robin gave a smile then thought again about what she had discussed with Steve and Eddie. “How long does it take to run an article?”
“Well, we’re hoping we get this one bumped to the issue that drops in two weeks but it really depends on the printers. It may be next month's issue.”
“Okay, cool. Does that mean we could change some things around?”
Nancy raised an eyebrow, tucking her notepad under her arm. “Like what?” She smoothed her shirt down and Robin noticed now she was wearing a short gray skirt, almost the color of her shorts. “Was there something you didn’t like?”
“Oh, no! Everything was great! I just feel like I could have answered one of the questions differently. You know,” Robin paused to take a breath. Her chest felt funny as the internal debate with herself started again. What would the outcome of this be? Would it have the impact she thought? And why did she feel the need to have validation? “Maybe I’m just overthinking stuff. Everything was great.”
Robin rocked back on her heels and Nancy looked at her curiously. She needed to change the subject so she clapped her hands together. “Have you ever been onstage before a show? The doors open soon but we have enough time to take a tour. Would you be interested?”
Nancy’s face cracked into a smile and she nodded, “Yes! That would be perfect!”
“Come on,” Robin motioned for Nancy to follow her.
They walked through the hall staying silent, Robin was unsure of what to say. It was nice though, she has to admit. Being around someone from her past and a woman at that.
As they approached the black curtains that separated them from the stage Robin quickened her step to go and hold them open for Nancy.
Nancy stepped out on the stage slowly with Robin following. She turned taking in the whole venue. “Holy shit,” she said almost breathlessly. “It always seems so big when you’re out in the crowd but seeing it from this angle?”
Robin watched Nancy as she stepped towards the middle of the stage. With the overhanging light above, Robin could see the colors she had added to her hair better. There were blonde streaks but also reddish brown ones. “This many people? All around America? Incredible.”
The room had an upper balcony seating with back of house seating in the back as well. The pit stretched to the seats in the back making the venue able to accommodate nearly five thousand people. Tonight was a sold out show. One of the largest they’ve played.
Robin took her usual seat at the drum kit, “London. Mexico. Brazil. We’ve been a little bit of everywhere now.”
Nancy shook her head as she turned to look at Robin. “That’s so crazy. It seems like just yesterday we were still in Hawkins. Now you’re on planes, touring the world.”
“Plans suck. The worst. I have to be medicated just to step on one.”
Nancy chuckled, “Really? I don’t think they’re that bad. I kind of like being that high up. It’s nice looking down at the world.”
Robin shook her head, “You’re bonkers. I can’t even look out the window when I’m on one.”
She laughed softly before sitting at the edge of the platform Robin’s drums were on. She stared out at the empty room for a long moment before Robin saw her shoulders lift in a shrug. “I’m really proud of you and the rest of the guys. It’s so crazy, don’t you think?” She turned to look at Robin and the light caught the glitter in her eyeshadow, “You guys started playing music and now you’re doing it. You’re living out people’s dreams.”
Robin nodded, “You are too. I mean, you always wanted to write, right? And I mean, all those times you were dismissed and made to be a secretary? Now look at you! You own your own magazine and employee only women. That’s so fucking bad ass.”
Nancy’s cheeks turned pink and she nodded, “I think we both turned out pretty badass.”
“Doors in five!” A security guard shouted toward the stage from the back of the room.
Robin gave a thumbs up, hopping off the platform. She offered a hand to Nancy to help her up. Nancy pulled herself using Robin for support. “Thanks for showing me this. It was super neat.”
“Are you going to watch to watch the show from side stage?” Robin led them back behind the curtain and towards the dressing room areas once again.
“Well, I actually got Steve to agree to an all access pass. I’m going to watch from the barricade.”
“Nancy Wheeler,” Robin said in sort of shocked but delightful tone. “I did not take tour for a barricade kinda girl.”
Nancy made a snorting noise, “Okay, one thing about me? I love live shows. Another thing? Stepping Stones to Hell? Favorite song ever.”
Robin felt a small bulb of pride fill her chest. Gareth had actually written that song with Eddie. It was her favorite to play because she had an extended drum solo while the rest of the group paused for water. “Well, Wheeler, that just happens to be the best song we play live.”
The two them entered a room where there were more snacks and refreshments. They both took a water then sat down across from one another at a table. “Are you supposed to have favorites? Isn’t that biased?”
“I think you’ll know why after you see it tonight.”
“Alright then, looking forward to it.”
“As fun as this has been, if you want barricade you better be getting down there. It’s going to fill in quick once the doors open.”
She stood, finishing off her water then bowing her head slightly. “Thank you for the advice. Im looking forward to your show.”
“At least you know it’s mine and not the guys,” Robin said jokingly.
Nancy shook her head with laughter, waving at Robin before hurrying out the door.
Gimme that summer camp snippet or tell me more about me and BLAME ME FOR IT 😈 (it’s me, Frenchie)
I absolutely blame you for it!
Okay, so - I have put this one hold for a bit because I have too many other things ongoing and posting that I want to finish before I dive back in but I still plan on writing it.
I do have a complete but very rough outline for the fic. I have a feeling it's going to be a little bit long. What I have planned spans over the course of two summers. Eddie and Steve meet when they work at the same summer camp. Steve and Robin had both been going there for years as campers but now they are 18 and old enough to work their first time as counselors and are so excited. Eddie gets hired at the camp as part of an exchange program (He's English)
WIP Wordsearch Game!!!
rules: share snippets of your work containing each of the words the previous poster selected for you (optional addition: if you can't find the word in your WIPs, or you simply don't have any WIPs, you can just write a sentence around the word)
My words were: Debt, Linger, Throw, Flinch, and Camp
Thank you @ghost—enthusiast
——————
Debt (like with Flinch I didn’t have the word but this includes the word owe so 🤷‍♀️):
“Steve Harrington, you are a menace to society.”
“What did I do?”
“You know that I am so happy for you and Eddie, and I am glad you are getting your back thrown out like you deserve, but you decided to abandon me with the stoner twins and Nancy today.”
“Robin, we had to leave at that moment, I promise-“
“I was with you when you bought all of the sex toys you own, I know what was happening today. That doesn’t change the fact that you owe me, because while I was abandoned by my best friend so he could get dicked down, I had to sit through Jonathan bringing up the fact that Nancy owns a god damn strap on.”
————
Linger:
Years later, after the Upside Down is completely gone, everyone is at his house for a barbecue. He and Robin had hidden away in the back corner up against the fence and beneath a tree. They had split a blunt a little while ago and are currently drinking cups of a horrifically alcoholic punch that Nancy made. All this being said, they are far from sober, which is likely why Steve, eyes lingering on Eddie’s form in the pool as he lifts El above his head with a monstrous yell, says what he does to Robin.
“I think I’m in love with Eddie.” Robin actually has the audacity to choke on her drink as he says it, which gets him to focus on her, albeit reluctantly. “I definitely reacted better than that when you came out to me.”
———
Throw(er):
“Wait! You need more protection than just the spear and shield. Do you have hairspray?”
“Do I have- oh, Dustin Henderson, you little genius. Yes I have hairspray, and a couple different lighters.” Eddie grinned and ran to his room, grabbing the hairspray can from his closet and he found four different lighters on his dresser. “Alright, flamethrower achieved. You watch him, okay? I’ll be back.”
———
Flinch (Didn’t have flinch but this is a fun thing similar to flinching):
Eddie finally looks up as the other people at the table begin yelling in a panic, an evil grin spread across his face - and he makes direct eye contact with Steve. Steve sees the exact moment his presence registers in Eddie’s mind because his grin turns to a look of shock and he falls out of his chair with a shout that could maybe be Steve’s name.
Every immediately stops talking to stare at Eddie, who quickly pops back up, leaning on the table while staying on his knees.
“Well, children, your mother is here. Looks like you’ll have to deal with the red wizards next week.”
———
Camp:
“Where is my stuff?”
“What stuff?”
“All of my stuff. The things I had on me when I took the plane down, the things from camp that I left behind, the things in my apartment in Brooklyn. I want my things back. If you don’t want me to leave this place and find a way to kill myself, you’ll give me my shit back.”
“Some of that belongs to the Smithsonian, we can’t just-“
“It belongs to me. It was given to the Smithsonian when I was presumed dead but I’m not dead and a lot of my belongings are incredibly personal and I want them back.”
———
Debt came from a little thing I had half written about Stobin who share too much with each other
Linger came from a drabble I’m working on about Tommy being in love with Steve and Steve coming out
Throw(er) comes from my currently ongoing AU for the different meetings and I won’t be giving more context
Flinch comes from the WIP I have about Erica roasting Steve and Eddie and Eddie falling out of his chair because he was surprised by Steve was close enough
Camp comes from the Captain America AU I wrote bits and pieces of but who knows if that will ever see the light of day
Next round here you go! @nburkhardt @readysteddiecook @steddieas-shegoes @henderdads @artiststarme
