Fandom(s): Men in Black & MCU! Pairing: (Wait and see) x fem!reader Contents: Language...probably more but I can’t remember right now. A/N: Didn’t do any proof reading this time, sorry. But if you want a tag anyways, just send me an ask and thank you for reading! Also thank you if you don’t want a tag, of course.
On aliens
Slipping into bed late at night, you’d been happy to leave the alarm off for once, assuming that you finally will get to sleep in.
Alas.
A hard knocking wakes you and a glance at the clock shows that it’s just a bit past 7AM. The first attempt at ignoring whoever’s on making that awful noise by burying your head under the pillow doesn’t work, and so you sit up with a groan.
“Hang ON!” Your throat is dry, making the words come out as sharp croaks.
Reaching for the water bottle with on hand and rubbing your eye with the root of the other, you curse mornings and morning people. There’s a reason you preferred evening and night shifts. Whoever’s on the other side of the door must have no sense of proper morning etiquette, because there’s a new knock. Not as loud, but just as insistent.
A few steps and you yank the door up, ready to give the offender a talking to. Jay. Impeccable as always in a suit, though the tie has been loosened slightly, the tall man’s leaning against the door frame with crossed ankles.
“Goooood morning, sunshine.” Treating you to the elevator look, he smiles like the cat that ate the canary. “Heard you had some fun last night?”
The short and faded Foo Fighters t-shirt doesn’t cover you as much as you’d want, making your cheeks burn as a knot of discomfort builds in your chest. Crap. Fuck. Oh, well. Pretending to not give a damn, you glare up at the man.
“Went out with some of the soldier or whatever. What’s it to you?” You know the words come out too defensively, but it’s morning so you’re not about to apologize.
Jay’s eyebrows do a little dance in amusement. If he’s a cat, then it’s the Cheshire Cat. “Heard you had your first encounter too.”
“What business is it of yours who I hook up with?!”
He might have a lot to say in your future here, but some things are beyond he’s limits. Defiant and cross with the constant scrutiny at your every move, it’ll only take a few drops more before you snap…even with the surprisingly kind change in Costa’s behaviour last night.
“That’s not wha–“ apparently catching up with the meaning, Jay smoothly latches on to what was said. “Wait, you got lucky?”
Where’s the hole I can hide in. “What are you talking about?”
“Meeting you first extraterrestrial. You?”
Now, you’re fairly sure that the fuzziness of some of the events wouldn’t be enough to make you forget seeing a real alien but wracking your brain you come up empty. Alright…a few of the customers hadn’t been the pinnacle of human perfection on a lot of levels, but tentacles, green skin or any of the other things depicted in your binder…that would have stood out.
“What?”
…
28.10.2018.
I’ve been here a month, waiting for approval and as such clearance to a higher security level before I get to see some of the E.T. patients. This morning agent Jay stopped by. Why? He claimed I met a real alien last night while in town with Thorpes x2, Costa and a bunch of other people. First, I thought he was joking…I mean, come ON! I didn’t drink that much so I KNOW I’d have remembered meeting a Mars-man.
Well. I didn’t. But apparently an Asgardian woman?
Jay let me have a shower and then we went to the mess-hall for breakfast while he explained things starting with the attack on NY years ago. Pointing out that I’d have recognized those monsters, he just told me to shut up. I know about Thor and Loki and how the former likes popping by on a visit. I didn’t know he wasn’t the only one. Nor the first one.
Fact: Men in Black were established back in the ‘50ies or ‘60ies to keep track and handle visiting extraterrestrials from all over the world universes. Most look like something from a cheap sci-fi movie, like the files I’ve had to study hints at…but not all. Which I guess makes sense with Thor and his brother, but somehow it just didn’t register with me that anyone else like them would be here? Also, MiB are pretty good at disguising the visitors that don’t look human, so there’s that.
Yeah.
Long story short…I may have made out with an Asgardian warrior-supreme last night. A Valkyrie…named Brunhilde. Forget Wagner and big, blond women with horned helmets (which I know Vikings didn’t have anyways). Apparently Asgard is culturally diverse. Or was. The reason a lot of Asgardians are here is because Thor blew up their home to kill a big demon or something and they’ve sought refuge on Earth while looking for a better place? There’s a lot of the back story that I haven’t gotten yet.
Note to self: figure out what THE FUCK is GOING ON!
In other news. Both Jay and Jemma have handed in their assessments. Both positive, according to Jay. I should hear tomorrow what the verdict is.
I wonder how many other people aren’t actually people? Second note to self: don’t take anything or anyone for granted. Things are not as they seem. And where does Hilde stay?
…
Smacking the notebook shut, you stuff it away in one of the drawers before heading off towards the gym. Sure, it might be your day off, but with all the new information there’s no way you can sit still and study and with few other options available the choice lands on training.
You’re starting to formulate the theory that the gym is one of the places that never really is deserted. There’s always someone keeping up with the apparently very high standards for physical prowess, meaning you’re not really alone which until now hasn’t been much of an issue. That’s changed since Jay’s let you in on the big secret that there are aliens walking around in public and no civilian bloody knows. Now you suspect everyone you see of being from some far-off planet, and your nerves are sticking to you’re your shirt (thoroughly mixed with the sweat) as your feet carry you absolutely no further from the frustrating limbo of uncertainty.
The good thing is you break your own record for both pace and distance.
Bad thing is that the physical exhaustion leaves you feeling vulnerable as you step off the treadmill and begin to stretch.
“Couldn’t stay away?” Says a gentle voice right behind you.
Turning with a shriek, you automatically lash out like Taylor has taught you…except not as strongly and your fist is caught in an iron grip. Looking along your arms you find the very same man’s face grinning apologetically at you. Pulling your hand back and with burning cheeks (more than from the work out) you try to stammer out an apology.
“Chill. It’s okay.” The green flecks in his eyes are blocked as he looks away. “I know I can walk quietly.”
An awkward silence settles over the two of you, enhanced rather than muffled by the sounds of other people tending their own work-out regimen to the ambient music typical of any fitness center.
“Still uhm still on for tomorrow?” Anything to break the silence!
The soldier nods. “You better take it easy now…bringing in an extra to help with the training.” And without further explanation he sends you a tiny salute and stalks off, silent as usual.
What?
If he’s asked Costa or maybe even one of the twins, he wouldn’t bother tell you. Maybe. Or maybe he would? More questions and worries are added to your already spinning mind, making it seem impossible to find out which thoughts are even reasonable anymore. Instead of attempting anything else, you breathe out a groan, knowing that there’s only one possible cure left: a steamy hot shower followed by sleep.

Interview given to The Severus Snape and Hermione Granger Shipping Fan Group.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/199718373383293/
Hello CorvusDraconis and welcome to Behind the Quill, thank-you so much for sitting down with us to chat.
You’re a well known and beloved figure in the SS/HG community for your many stories - including a personal favourite of mine, A chance for happiness.
Okay, let’s jump right in. What's the story behind your pen name?
I have always had a fascination for the shiny things and the Northwest Coast depictions of Raven the Trickster/Creator, and, I tend to hoard (and get super protective) of my art supplies. Corvids have always been a positive sign in my life. They tend to show up when I’m feeling down and engage in funny antics in the yard. As for dragons, I’ve always had a love for them and think the Western depiction of them as dangerous beasts with no mind but for hoarding treasure and killing people only to be slain by a knight quite despicable.
Which Harry Potter character do you identify with the most?
Severus, actually. I see a lot of my life in his. Hardships, challenges, bullying— trying to be something better and later wondering about unwise decisions. I have a very similar dislike for dunderheads, but I do not share his inclination to denude rosebushes of their petals. Do you have a favourite genre to read? (not in fic, just in general) I have always preferred fantasy and sci-fi.
Do you have a favourite "classic" novel?
I am not sure if you would call it a classic novel, but grew up on all things Tolkien (and even puzzled through the Silmarillion at the grand age of seven), and have a special place in my heart for Watership Down. While I’ve read pieces like War and Peace, Iliad, Ulysses, Pride and Prejudice, Grapes of Wrath, Moby Dick, Great Gatsby, Little Women, Catcher in the Rye, Tom Sawyer/Huckleberry Finn, Scarlet Letter, Don Quixote, To Kill a Mockingbird, Animal Farm, Jane Eyre, Lord of the Flies, Tale of Two Cities, Heart of Darkness, Robinson Crusoe, Alice in Wonderland, Great Expectations, Odyssey, Frankenstein, Dracula, Crime and Punishment, Heart of Darkness, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, The Secret Garden, Treasure Island, Anne of Green Gables, Les Misérables, Peter Pan, Gulliver’s Travels, all things Jack London, 20000 Leagues, etc.— they never captured me as aptly as Anne McCaffery’s Dragonriders of Pern or Mercedes Lackley’s the Last Herald Mage. Though, if I were to pick classic stories I read more than once (litmus test for things I like) it would be things such as The Secret Garden, Call of the Wild, Wild Fang, The Hobbit, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and The Last Unicorn. At what age did you start writing? The moment I could pick up pencil and paper, I was writing. I had notepads full of stories I wrote as a kid. Alas, my dad found them one day when I was off to college, made fun of them, and I came home and burned every single one in mortification.
How did you get into writing fanfiction?
The moment TV shows did “stupid things” to their characters. I used to write things about Beauty and the Beast (the old CBS show) when they killed off the main character, Knight Rider, Robocop, Transformers— there are probably far more that I just don’t remember now. I was writing it long before there was a fanfiction dot net or a term to even call it. What's the best theme you've ever come across in a fic? Is it a theme represented in your own works? I am a shameless romantic for the beauty within and sometimes the quite literal love for a monster (not just some person who acts like a monster and changes into a better person.) The misunderstood monster is perhaps my most favourite theme, and it shows up in my stories often if not always. What fandoms are you involved in other than Harry Potter? I ship SessKag from Inuyasha, Lucard/Sophie from Dracula: The Series, and Loki/Hermione when I’m feeling crossover-y. If you could make one change to canon, what would it be? Do you have a favourite piece of fanon? Other than my favourite fanon that Severus lives/survives/finds a better life free of two masters and his guilt, I would say I would want Harry to wise the heck up and realise his father was a swine, his godfather was an almost successful murderer that used his own best mate to try and kill off another student, and his mother wasn’t all that hot either. I would want him to find value in himself without having to make stuff up about his “perfect” parents. Then again, I would want Vernon/Petunia to be arrested for child abuse and put in gaol, but— then the story would have been very different XD Do you listen to music when you write or do you prefer quiet? Sometimes quiet, sometimes music. But usually, I am best mates with Spotify.
What are your favourite fanfictions of all time?
In the HP universe: I honestly don’t read many of them because I’m always writing my own stuff XD, but when I really feel like I need a good Ron bashing SSHG HEA, I read just about anything by IShouldBeWritingSomethingElse. However, that being said, I often return to “The Sun is Often Out” by Hannah-1888 for just the right amount of angst and HEA to make me happy.
In the Inuyasha universe: A Trick of Fate by PristinelyUngifted
In the Marvel universe: Mutual Respect Sends His Regrets by moor
In the Star Trek universe: Gratified By Your Company by starfleetdream
Are you a plotter or a pantser? How does that affect your writing process?
I go by the seat of my feathered rump, to be honest. Inspiration is a fickle, unpredictable beast, and I usually don’t know what is going to happen until it does.
What is your writing genre of choice?
Fantasy
Which of your stories are you most proud of? Why?
Chance of Happiness because it was my very first publication. It may not have been my best, but it was my first, and it very well could have been my last yet somehow wasn’t.
Looks Can Be Deceiving and One Step Forward, Two Decades Back are two epic tales that seemed to demand being written. The fact I finished them was something I think deserves a little pride.
Did it unfold as you imagined it or did you find the unexpected cropped up as you wrote? What did you learn from writing it?
Looks started off with me attempted to write Dramione just once. It failed. Draco demanded to be her brother of the heart, Viktor came in and said “nope she’s mine,” and no one was more surprised at the outcome of that story than me. The characters did what THEY wanted.
I learned that trying to plan a story from start to finish is useless when the characters decide what they want. The story demanded more, and I was just a conduit that typed it down. For me, at least, attempting to outline and plan is utterly useless
How personal is the story to you, and do you think that made it harder or easier to write?
I think every story I write is personal in some way. The inspiration comes from somewhere inside, and I often have no idea what it is until I go back and read it later. I think the story wrote itself in a lot of ways, which made it easier in a way, but there are a lot of things I can’t say were from personal experience because as a high fantasy of talking gryphons and such I can only imagine it. There is no basis in real life on how any of that would go down. There is a freedom in that but also many challenges in making it real enough to identify with despite how alien and fantastic the idea is.
What books or authors have influenced you? How do you think that shows in your writing?
Dragonriders of Pern introduced sentient dragons and the idea that despite a vast difference in species there could be teamwork and love between the two as they teamed up against a greater threat.
The herald-mage books by Mercedes Lackley were also important staples in my childhood because it impressed the values of responsibility despite having powers others did not, and that people were fallible despite greatness and potential.
Gandalara Cycle by Randall Garrett and Vicki Ann Heydron: I cannot tell you how often I read this story. I had dog ears on these novels because there was so much I loved about them. It was a search for humanity when displaced in a seemingly alien world, societal clashes, and the great sha’um (the giant rideable cats) that were the main characters’ partners for life.
The Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia C Wrede: A princess rebels against her arranged marriage by running away to be a dragon princess.
All of these books had creatures in it that chose to partner with a human and be with them for life, not as lovers that you find in the more modern supernatural romance blender out there, but the ultimate friend for life— the family you choose.
Do people in your everyday life know you write fanfiction?
Oh heck no. Hah. They have their secrets, and I have mine. Personally, I think mine are more healthy than theirs.
How true for you is the notion of "writing for yourself"?
Very.
I write for myself. Sometimes I’ll write a story for one of my betas or a sshg friend, but for the most part, I write for my own entertainment because nothing like what I write is out there. There is a lot of SSHG out there, but mine is almost always a creature feature story. I blame X-Files growing up. It tickles me that others enjoy my stories, but in the end I write to get things down and out of my head. They just so happen to entertain others as they do me.
How important is it for you to interact with your audience? How do you engage with them? Just at the point of publishing? Through social media?
I will often engage in A/N talk at the end of chapters, but I really don’t engage in the fandom. I loathe social media. That being said, I read every review, and while I don’t reply to everything because FF dot net is a horrible platform for messaging anymore (or ever was really)-- I appreciate every single one. Sometimes it helps to know people are enjoying the story for the story’s sake.
What is the best advice you've received about writing?
Get a beta, even if you are pretty good at writing. Get one because a second pair of eyes will catch things you don’t. Read your own stuff out loud. If you trip over it, your audience will too. If you stumble, so will they.
Get a beta who isn’t afraid to tell you that your shite stinks in places and you make no sense. You may want a cheerleader, but what you need is a beta. If you are super lucky, you can have both at once.
What do you do when you hit writer's block?
I play computer games and sew things. I’ve sewn a lot of things lately. Scrub caps and masks for work—
There has been a lot of writer’s block lately due to the times, and I will not write when I’m uninspired. I will not force inspiration. That’s not fair to me or those unfortunate enough to share in the reading. I want to be able to go back on a story I wrote and enjoy it and not curse at myself. XD
Has anything in real life trickled down into your writing?
Sometimes certain catch phrases and things from real life friends have trickled in as a sort of Easter egg (unbeknownst to them since I don’t tell them I write fanfic). Sometimes random news stories or whatnot find their way in. Lessons of the day. Random events. Things that are too odd not to stick in my brain somehow. I can’t say I always do it on purpose, though.
Do you have any stories in the works? Can you give us a teaser?
No, I have a goal this year to finish off the unfinished stories. This is made harder because Dragon and the Rose keeps adding more and more bunnies into the idea bin, and my brain wants to run with them, but I’m like NO DANGIT, I HAVE STUFF TO FINISH STILL! It’s a hard thing trying to finish what you start when so much interesting stuff pops up and waves at you like “heeeeeyyyyy I’m cool too!”
Any words of encouragement to other writers?
Keep writing but remember you can always be better. You can always improve. Writing isn’t a popularity contest. It isn’t about how many reviews you get or how many fans you may or may not have. Write because you want to write. Write what you like not what other people like. Write for you because in the end, you are the one who goes back to read it and say “I wrote this story, and I still love it” instead of forcing yourself to write something just because the topic is “popular” and gets a lot of visitors. Write something you’ll be proud to go back and read and enjoy. You’ll find when you write something genuinely, readers will come. And if only one person leaves you a paragraph review on how much your story meant to them out of someone else’s hundreds of “great!” (with nothing else)-- think of what you value more.
If my story helped someone through a dark time.
Just one person—
Then it was a good effort.
Maybe that person didn’t have the bravery to leave a message. Maybe they are ashamed. Maybe they send you a PM instead of a review.
That is, to me, the ultimate reason why I realised that despite writing stories for myself that there are people out there that needed to hear my story at just the right time in their life. If my story can bring a little joy to someone else, then it doesn’t matter how many reviews I have. It doesn’t matter that I don’t have thousands of reviews like “that other author.” What matters is that I told my story; someone out there read it and it spoke to them.
I love hearing from people and what they liked about my stories, but I also am glad that there are some people out there who secretly like my stories but do not feel safe enough to review.
So, I would say to the aspiring author: write for yourself but share it. You never know whose day you will make with your story. They may never tell you. They may tell you years later (happened to me!). There is a good chance that someone out there needs your story as much as you need to write it. That being said, find yourself a beta to share your journey with you. You may find a few friend in the process.
Thanks so much for giving us your time.
You are quite welcome.

So I wrote this in the middle of the night a couple days ago while running on fumes and hyperfixations... Bear with me
So I had this whole crossover tHiNg in my head... Between Avatar the Last Airbender and this book series the Night World. If you don't know of one or both of them, I highly recommend both. (The first book in Night World is a bit tedious and they are all pretty heteronormative but the rest are all centered around strong teenage girls)
(I don't know how to do a Read More thing, so sorry)
100 years after the epic fight between good and evil was supposed to happen. All 4 wild powers needed to fight together to win, but Aang disappeared. They lost. This is the aftermath
Zuko: human (doesn't know it, but is actually half-vampire), vampire/supernatural hunter, needs to restore honor (scarred by his dad after speaking out against his father's plan to raid an enclave and kill a lot of vampires, but would kill more hunters), hunts Aang so he can deliver the wild power to his father to ensure that he fights for them
Azula - human, (doesn't know it, but is half-vampire), sorta unstable hunter that believes that the ends justifies the means, as long as all vampires die, doesn't matter
Ursa and Ozai - Ursa is actually a lamia vampire. Ozai convinced her to have kids with him (after failing to convince her to make him a vampire) so they would have the benefits of both worlds and be stronger, Ozai makes Ursa kill his father (leader of the hunters) and then banishes her
Iroh - reformed hunter, part of Circle Daybreak, tries (and eventually succeeds) to convert Zuko and they both fight to make sure Aang stays safe, knows that Zuko and Azula are half-vampire
Aang - a wild power, either a made vampire (why he didn't age for 100 years) or a dragon shapeshifter (because it'd be cool), fled from the first apocalypse and ended up in some cave
Katara - lamia vampire (because bloodbender), strong telepath, helped restart Circle Daybreak with her brother and others, finds Aang in a cave while out hunting and realizes he was the wild power who disappeared, soulmates with both Aang and Zuko (finds out because she bites Zuko to protect Aang and has the brain explosion thing), was there when the apocalypse occurred, so knows how horrible the first affects were, desperate to teach Aang and find the new wild powers to drive back the darkness
Sokka - also a lamia vampire, reluctant Daybreaker, weak to no telepathy, makes up for it was his wit and boomerang
Toph - a blind witch, like the blind maiden, has a special affinity for the earth and rocks, is a Harman, so especially protected since she's one of the last girls and also is blind, has to run away to join the Gaang. One of the last wild powers was her great grandma, so she has a little knowledge of how it works so to teach Aang
Mai and Ty Lee - close friends of Azulas, specialized skills for hunting, both are completely immune to vampire telepathy/mindcontrol
The Gaang needs to teach Aang how to use his power and try to find the new incarnations of the other three wild powers so they can push back against the apocalypse that is happening
Thanks if you read all of my ramblings, I know they are super coherent but oh well.

Space Nurse 3/?
Fandom(s): Men in Black & MCU! Pairing: (Wait and see) x fem!reader Contents: Pretty chill, save for a few curses, I think. A/N: Still diary-format.
Third entry
1.10.2018
Holy flamingo! I’m completely wasted both physically and mentally. The three friendly comrades from my trip (who, by the way, are called Costa, Hoffmann, and Taylor) have been put in charge of a harsh physical training regimen. I knew my physical shape wasn’t amazing, to say the least….but it seems to have been in the negatives! Every part of me is aching all the time, and I haven’t even begun the combat training they keep mentioning! Never once do they compliment the effort I put forth! They just make fun of me, ridiculing how weak I am compared to them. They have trained for years with elite soldiers, shaping their bodies with muscles that are both created for intense strength and endurance.
Costa has a sharp-witted sense of humour, often dancing verbally around her two friends. Short, chestnut hair and deep-brown eyes in a heart-shaped face with tan skin.
Hoffmann’s…well, I don’t know much about him yet, as he doesn’t seem to trust people easily. It doesn’t seem like he holds back once he considers someone a friend, at least, becoming chatty…even boisterous. He’s tall, muscular, plenty of scars littered across the parts of his body I’ve seen so far, which is more than I had expected because that man doesn’t have any sense of prudence and he began undressing after a round of sparring with someone else. Right there! In the gym!
Then there’s Taylor. Sounds American, has blues eyes, and for the rest looks like he got drafted in Mumbai. A black shock of hair which must be a hell to contain the way protocols dictate. He’s dwarfed by Hoffmann what with his own lithe build and wiry muscles. Some of the training he does attracts quite a few onlookers with its elegance. Mainly, I’m too busy sweating under Costa’s or his orders to notice much.
The three are my private tormenters. Pushing me, ridiculing me, ignoring my background differs from theirs, and it pisses me off to know end, but there’s no time to think about it when training’s over, because there’s been endless briefings on safety protocols and whatnot.
I’ve also started reading through all the files. Most of it is extensive medical information on the people working here and the standard tests for their monthly (!!) physicals. The interesting stuff, however, is in the thick binders where there are pages upon pages of isolated anatomic features of a variety of animals. I think. Some of the data doesn’t quite add up, but I’m a nurse…not a zoologist. I tried to ask why I needed to read this but got no answer.
I never do, no matter who I ask.
John Smith’s is around for all the interviews and briefings, constantly frowning at his laptop. He’s always there with his slicked-back, black hair and the glasses with thin, silvery frames partially disguising the grey eyes. In a way, he might be handsome in a sleek manner. But I get the feeling that he’s not particularly happy with me, but of course there’s no explanation from him. So, I’m stuck with speculations and training as if I’m supposed to be some impressive soldier rather than a nurse. This isn’t what I’d expected when they offered me the job with a warning that I’d need some special training.
….
Addition:
One of the doctors I’ve seen at my first physical came by to chat and show me a round a bit more. She seems nice. Immediately asked me to use her first name, Helen.
She showed me backstage of the infirmary, as she calls it, and woah! Everything here’s insanely high-tech, beyond my wildest imagination. Honestly, not even Star Trek has gotten close to this level of medical technological ingenuity. Some of the machines are developments of stuff I know, but a lot is completely new to me. Helen promises that it’ll make sense soon enough.
Also: I’ve now got a locker in the changing room plus access to uniforms etcetera, everything needed for a shift on my new job.
That’ll be tomorrow.
