I reckon so, yeah. Like with the Pathfinder games they have a nice pop-up explanation in the text for certain lore related terms that explain what they mean.
As an introduction to Warhammer, I'd says it's pretty good, it covers the basic themes of the universe, all of them are well, dark. There are no good guys, every faction is bad in someway. Even the ones that seem good, like the Eldar/Aldari, Space Elves, ended up creating the demonic God of excess, pleasure and decadence that now relentlessly hunts them down. For example. (Warhammer was made in the 80s so it's a bit edgy)
Your character has a sort of morality system, so you could act like an absolute upper class dick who looks down on everyone and worships the God of Humanity or put your middle finger up at it all and play someone who is for the people, standing with them, protecting them ect. (or the secret 3rd option) It's got fantastic writing so you can really get a feel for the personality you want to go with and you get some really interesting outcomes depending on how you want to play.
If you don't mind diving into something that has you in a (usually. Secret 3rd option) moral grey area, then I say give it a go if you don't mind dark n edgy fiction.
How's rogue trader? It's on sale on steam and I'm waffling on whether or not to buy. Played the two pathfinder games owlcat made before RT and enjoyed them
As a fan of Warhammer, I love it. They nailed the look and feel of the universe and the 'grim dark' reality of it. I can say it's a bit more harrowing than the Pathfinder games, in a good way. Your choices do have an impact on the game for once.
It's a lot more unforgiving because of it, the combat can be brutal and long, with a big emphasis on tactics over blindly powering through everything in your path but I really enjoy having to plan my next move.
The graphics and voice acting are beautiful as well, like I said, they nailed the look and feel of Warhammer. The companions are interesting and dynamic, with a handful of decent romance options, including an Asexual one, which is awesome. A huge bonus for me, personally, is there is no focus on the Space Marines and we see other factions for once like the Drukhari (Dark Eldar) and the DLC introduced the Gene Stealer Cults.
It was over shadowed by BG3 a lot and it's an unfair comparison, but if you enjoyed the Pathfinder games (I loved the 2nd one as a player of the ttrpg) and like Warhammer, then I say pick it up.
There's not a lot of class options but you can have fun with your builds due to the vast amount of various skills and well, you can be a Psyke, the magic users and they are fun. My first build was pyromancer sniper for example. Also the way you buy and sell equipment is odd, but makes sense since you are a TRADER, so rather than having a pool of money, you hoard anything not nailed down and build reputations by trading the loot you collect for better loot.
OH and mods are encouraged. The mods page in game will directly take you to Nexus Mods but there's not much atm beyond a few fixes, cheats and a massive amount of portrait packs.
It's well worth a look.
#Hope I explained that well enough?#It's dark and edgy in a goofy but good way?#There's demons of various flavours...BDSM elves...battle nuns with big guns...cyborg people who worship machine spirits#Yknow? You have fun with it rather than take it deadly seriously like some fans out there
