The People You Know

Yesterday I found out that one of my closest friends and his family, who I always thought were pretty great, are the exact opposite of that (I had another friend tell me what they say behind my back). I had always been suspicious of their characters but I had always hoped to be wrong. With my new discovery, I am positive that they are possibly the lowest forms of life. I have never been so unfortunate to have met such poison, and worse, to have brought them into my life and even considered them family. My own family is all the poison I need. I am not angry with them (irritated maybe), I don't even hate them (if I did I would be just like them), but I am far from ever forgiving them. I have been nothing outside of a great friend to them, and to think that they think so little of me is a slap to the face. Hearing their thoughts proved to me how selfish and inconsiderate they really are. I always knew what they thought, I have a basic understanding of their personality types, but I always hoped that I would be wrong. I also never thought that they'd consider me a liar. While I may be capable of telling lies and being convincing about it, I choose not to lie because lying is boring. One should always trust that someone who calls themself your friend may not know the definition of the word.
