I watched the Chip ’n Dale Rescue Rangers Movie. My thoughts?

As a Chip 'n Dale Movie, I think it's okay at best. As a Rescue Rangers Movie? It's pretty bad. It makes me glad that DuckTales 2017 turned out as good as it did. That show was made by people who loved the Disney Afternoon cartoons, and tried to do it some justice for the new generation. This one feels like the people here wanted to make "Roger Rabbit 2" instead and simply chose a nostalgic property because reboots are the cool new thing.

When I first heard of the movie being made, I was expecting "The Rescue Rangers take on Fat Cat/Nimnul/an original villain in their most dangerous scheme yet!" Or "The Rescue Rangers have gone their separate ways, but join together once more to take on a new threat!" Or "This is a new origin story for the how Rescue Rangers came together to stop Fat Cat!" Not "Who Framed Roger Rabbit 2: Starring Chip 'n Dale from the Rescue Rangers!"

While Monty's kidnapping does drive the plot, Gadget and Zipper only help out at the very end of the movie where they fly Dale to his destination, and even then they remain uninvolved in the final conflict! Like, you could’ve replaced them with almost anyone else, and things still would’ve been the same. If this is supposed to be a “Rescue Rangers Movie,” why not have Gadget and Zipper team up with the duo to help find Monty? You mean to tell me Monty called in Chip n’ Dale for help, but not Gadget and his best pal Zipper?

Heck, why not have Fat Cat and Nimnul help out as well? Sure, you could argue “they’re evil, they would never help those Rescue Rodents,“ but as previously mentioned, in this world, The Rescue Rangers are actors.

In an early scene in the movie, both villains seem to be enjoying making the episodes alongside the heroes. I’m sure they would be more than happy to help them find one of their missing co-stars. Imagine Ellie going “You guys are helping? Aren’t you villains?“ and Fat Cat snarking back at her “Uh, hello? We’re actors. That was only in the show,“ with Nimnul following up with “We’re really nice once you get to know us,” or something like that.

Speaking of which... Gadget and Zipper? Really? This pairing really feels like it’s a spit on the fans than anything. I’d rather Chip/Gadget, Dale/Gadget, or just Gadget living by herself than that. (And I’m not even a massive shipper in the Rescue Rangers fandom)

I’d probably be less upset by that if they weren’t so selective on what Rescue Rangers lore they brought back. Like, Monty’s obsession with cheese wasn’t something that Monty “the character” was obsessed with. Monty “the actor” is also addicted to cheese, and it’s treated like a drug addiction. (And nobody in-universe cares that they wrote his addiction into their script because...?)

Heck, Gadget herself comments that “I guess my character from the old show and my character in real life are basically exactly the same!“ I might be remembering wrong, but didn’t Gadget sometimes display an interest in Chip, despite her being rather oblivious to love?

Heck, Zipper was shown being interested in Queenie the Queen Bee in one episode. Seems to me like they deliberately chose to ignore these two facts simply to spite the original fans.

And then there's the whole Peter Pan situation. Even ignoring its very unfortunate ties to the Bobby Driscoll tragedy, his backstory has a major plothole when Peter encounters one of the Lost Boys when he and his minions are chasing the two chipmunks.

How did that kid not age a day while Peter did? Never explained.

There was that one leak that suggests that PLUTO was intended to be the main villain. And you know what? That might just be the case. When you watch the film with that scrapped plot in mind, you start to notice some things. Like how our main antagonist Peter - originally “Mean Dean” in the leak - doesn’t really have a lot of lines of dialogue before he transforms into that amalgamation of a cartoon, especially compared to the second antagonist of the film. Heck, Mean Dean may not have even been intended to be Peter, only for that to change when they rewrote the script! But I digress...

That being said, there were some enjoyable moments here and there. I even think the flashbacks to Chip 'n Dale's childhood was pretty cute. But it's not enough to save the movie for me, and I pray a sequel to this - whether it's following Chip 'n Dale or Darkwing Duck - never happens. If you absolutely have to watch it, then I suggest you “set sails on the high-seas, matey!“ and never look back.

It’s true what they say: “Sometimes, some films deserve to slip through the cracks.“

SSB4 - Rick vs Morty vs Rozen

((AKA That one battle I hd with my online buddies that had a funny ending))

Since Miiverse is ending VERY soon, I thought I’d post this video that was recorded by both @volcanicfires And their sibling, @thewispguy (through a shared account, which involved a rather random battle That involved their Mii renditions of Rick Sanchez and his grandson Morty against my Gaming persona, who’s seen wearing Majora’s mask. 

This match was a lot of fun, and the sudden death ending ALWAYS cracks me up every time I watched it. 

Maxie, Wispguy, I had A LOT of fun battling with you guys on Smash Bros. I hope to do so again sometime in the future.

So Super Mario Maker 2 got a recent update, and one of my wishes came true; you can fight Bowser, Bowser Jr., and all 7 Koopalings all at once! (and Kamek as well)

This is both awesome and terrifying.

Well, I definitely wasn’t expecting a Team Rocket Outfit, or even Sans joining the battle as a Mii Gunner with a remix of Megalovania. (also Sakurai deciding to acknowledge Nuts & Bolts through one of Banjo & Kazooie’s taunts)

And more DLC Fighters?! I would’ve expected that to be announced after the Final Character was revealed! I’m expecting them to be Nintendo’s own characters this time (Pokemon Gen 8 and Fire Emblem Three Houses rep) but I won’t mind being wrong either way.

A little late, but Pokemon Masters looks pretty cool! Guess Red's getting ANOTHER redesign. (Unless it's supposed to be an older Classic Red) Hope Green/Leaf shows up. Also, Rosa confirmed as the canon Black 2/White 2 Protagonist?

Kris and Lyra in the same room together in Pokemon Masters! If that doesn't scream "they're separate from each other" I don't know what else does.

Unless it's something like "Classic Red" and "Modern Red" though I’m kind of doubting that’s a thing.

Just got to watch Invader ZIM: Enter the Florpus!

It was awesome! I thought it was going to be a sort-of adaption of the first issue of Invader ZIM from the preview clips I saw, but beyond the first few minutes, it heavily deviates and does it's own thing. There were even a few things I wasn't expecting to happen in the special! It might not be "Invader Dib" or even a "Grand Finale" like "Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie", but it's still nice to see ZIM return to animation, even if only briefly.

There were a few animated parts that had that "flash animated" look to it, but otherwise it wasn't noticeable. (to me, anyway)

But beyond that...

Peace is nice, Peace is nice, Peace is better than CHICKEN & RICE!

New info on Pokemon Sword and Shield: My thoughts

Kind of late on this, but here we go! Click and read on!

You know, with the culling of the PokeDex, I thought Alt Forms would be the first things to go. Seem like I was wrong.

Galarian Weezing is sporting a nice Mustache, Beard and hat!

Galarian Zigzagoon and Linoone sure are edgy-looking. Obstagoon looks pretty cool, tho!

Doubt we’ll see the return of the Alolan Forms, but we’ll see. We’ll see.

Morpeko seems like our new Pikachu clone. Looks like it's gimmick is switching between two forms. Wonder how well it'll do compared to Mimikyu?

We aren't just dealing with friendly rival Hop! Bede could be the jerk rival the majority of people have been asking for. I mean, he looks smug. Meanwhile, Marnie might be the N/Lillie of the game. I'm looking forward to see how the three of them will progress and develop!

And then we have Team Yell, the villains(?) of the game. Looks like they'll be as goofy as Team Skull. And perhaps like Team Skull, they aren't the REAL villains...

I know people are giving Sword and Shield some flak for the "National Dex Crisis" - something I can sympathize with - but I am curious to see how Sword and Shield will develop regardless. Until next time!

Quick thoughts on the Pokemon Direct

Team Sopple right now, though Scorbunny comes at a close second. Grookey looks kind of silly, and not in a bad way, mind you. Also, Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield? Guess Aegislash is playing both sides... Will Rotom Dex return?

Kind of hate to say this, but Joker's looking like Bayonetta 2.0 for Ultimate. Granted, I could be wrong, that's just first impressions from a video. I do wonder if his Down-B can't block Powerful moves like Smash Attacks, tho.

So, I found online videos of the battle against Classic Red, Classic Blue, and Green. I’m posting my thoughts in the Read More. (spoilers, obviously)

Red’s about what I expected, you fight him, he leaves, the end.

Blue helping you out during the Team Rocket Takeover was pretty cool, even tho it basically boils down to “You and Trace take care of this, I’ll go off elsewhere, taking down there grunts while searching for their Boss to see if I can stop him!“ And then later o you fight him again for a Gym Badge.

Green was looking for Mewtwo, only to be too slow because YOU caught Mewtwo first. She challenges you to a battle, loses, gives you the Mewtwo Mega Stones you were looking for, and then says this

and proceeds to throw Poke Balls at you before running off.

I guess she borrows the quirks from her Manga counterpart. Didn’t expect her to be kind of rude. Guess Red’s the only nice one. :P

Now if only Green had a Jigglypuff on her team...

Hot take on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Nintendo Direct

I can't believe a Piranha Plant got in before Waluigi. At least he's got Petey Piranha with him, so that's cool. Better then Geno imo. Also I'm upset Waluigi didn't show up at all. But at least the rumors about him are dead.

I'll also miss the trophies. :( (at least they showcased Hinoka instead of Camilla, but she did make a blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance, so that's cool) Also, RIP in spaghetti-Os, Shantae, no one cared about you. (but her being a collectible spirit probably doesn't mean she CAN'T get in as DLC. maybe)

Also, way to go not showing Mario speak. Also, Kirby's the hero/main character, really? Stupid Pink puffball was already the star back in Brawl alongside Meta Knight and true Protagonist King Dedede. (actually I'm not that mad about it) Now to find out WHO MADE THE GRINCH LEAK. I personally didn't put to much stock in it, but I'm AM upset Banjo & Kazooie are dead again. Also, I was not expecting the main theme to have LYRICS!!

Everybody hating on Byleth for being "another Fire Emblem character" but I'm more upset that learning that Hilda is on Team Claude.

Maybe he's not as bad as I think, though. He could be cool.

Anyway, guess I’ll buy the Cuphead DLC just for the additional song. Didn’t expect Cuphead to be in the game alongside Sans.

Finally got to watch Detective Pikachu. I quite enjoyed it! integrated the Pokemon pretty well into Live-Action. (thought I spotted a Kirlia early on, but it was a Sneasel. also, I guess Togepi was in there somewhere, but I didn’t see it...)

My mom happened to notice one of the plot-twists that was gonna happen in the movie, but didn’t comment on it until the end.

That plot-twist being Ms. Norman - the lady that brings Tim and Pikachu to Howard Clifford - being a Ditto, although in her case it was more “Jeez, her arms look really plastic...“

Gotta admit, never thought I’d see a competent Evil Ditto in the movie.
