This feels like such a painful "be careful what you wish for" bittersweet sort of victory. If it can even be called a victory.

Joonghyuk will never regress again, just like he's wanted for thousands of years now, but of course it's right when he wants to regress more than anything. 😢

And oh man, the gaze that he's always felt from the universe, that lone reader who was always there with him not being there anymore. 😭 And there's something so very, very sad about reading the line "he was no longer the protagonist of the story" even though logically Joonghyuk has never been the protagonist of this story.

Ughhhh and we've still got 10 chapters of the epilogue to go but I'm just sitting here slamming my head on the desk because I swear they're just making everything worse, they literally changed Dokja's ■■ to Epilogue and scattered his soul across the universe.

And now they're gonna try crossing into different worldlines? To collect all these different Dokjas who don't even remember them??? Ahhhhhh!!!

Actually, the fact that Dokja actually did break up into many, many Dokjas leads back to the Library and the fact that it has so many versions of the same story, including ones Dokja doesn't remember. I think that this is why???

And like I said in the previous post, I'm wondering if this will eventually lead back into the fact that we are reading the novel and so perhaps we can maintain the worldlines by reading ORV.

That or this is just the buildup for all the side stories that apparently exist after the epilogue, which I have no clue if they continue the main story or if they're like missing scenes or if they're other characters' povs or what.

do you ever think about how the dark castle arc really is a classical greek tragedy. in its set-up at least. they know that kjd is going to die because its a direct consequence of his own + the people around hims fatal flaws. Kim dokja is self sacrificing in nature, he tells Shin yoosung that the most important thing is herself, that if it came down to it he’d sacrifice the korean peninsula for her. -but time and time again he puts himself in deaths way, dying again and again for the ‘greater good’. so when the peripeteia hits and everything falls into place, you slowly realize there is nothing the characters could’ve done. because by being who the are, they’ve already doomed themselves.

-this applies to the greater narrative too! if it was anyone else that our main characters (writer reader protagonist), or even if one person was replaced, the story would’ve never happened. each of their fatal flaws (that in any other situations would be their strengths) causes their downfall + the time loop. Yoo joonghyuk will always take the regression stigma, will always seek out Kim dokja. Kim dokja will always read ways of survival, he will always put the lives of the characters he read about above his own, and he will always save 1863rd Yoo joonghyuk because that book and those characters saved him from suicide. and since Kim dokja saves 1863rd Yoo joonghyuk, 1863rd Han sooyoung’s plans will always be foiled. despite/because of this, 1863rd Han sooyoung will always write ways of survival. because she would rather doom the world to the scenarios, doom herself to never have a happy ending, than Kim dokja killing him self.

Remember this part where Yoo Joonghyuk told Kim Dokja to get lost? It is also the first time that Joonghyuk felt "phantom sensations" of the Demon King of Salvation. He feels like DKOS has always been there even if he doesn't remember who he is because he lost his memories like a severed limb. It's the first clue that Kim Dokja is Yoo Joonghyuk's sponsor, the first time that 1864th was being foreshadowed to be linked to 0th. It's also the first time that it's implied that Kim Dokja can understand Yoo Joonghyuk better than other constellations do because Kim Dokja is also a regressor. The stigma of regression came from him. The time loop will always have Kim Dokja replacing the current Oldest Dream. Therefore Kim Dokja is a regressor and the only constellation to ever understand Yoo Joonghyuk as a regressor. And yet he still does not understand Yoo Joonghyuk fully as a person.
