10 questions for 10 writers

thank you so much for the tag @strangethings-everywhere ! secretly I've always wanted to do one of these

1. Is writing a hobby or a way of life?

Way of life for sure; I'm basically never not thinking about it. I start to feel awful and purposeless if I go too long without writing at least something.

2. A journal full of notes or a clean completed manuscript?

Clean completed manuscript, unfortunately. I wish I could be less persnickety about my first drafts but so far that hasn't happened. I do sometimes make extensive outlines though and those are always by hand, but they're usually pretty clean too :/ no scribbly scribbly for me

3. Who or what inspired your writing?

I've been writing since I was five years old and telling stories since I could talk, so I guess I'll say that when I was first reading chapter books I asked my parents why books always have a few blank pages at the end and they said it was so you had space to continue the story yourself if you wanted. They made it up on the spot and they don't remember saying it at all, but it's always stuck with me.

4. Which is worse: Someone you ‘idolize’ reading your first draft or listening to you sing?

Listening to me sing, 100%. I post my barely-edited first drafts on ao3 all the time lmao. But I also feel like with a first draft it's easy to say hey this is a first draft, if there's stuff you don't like I'm happy to hear criticism! Whereas with singing, that's just your voice. You can practice the song but at some point whether they like it or not just comes down to something about you that you can't change. (Although I am a hashtag classically trained singer so my feelings of needing to live up to that might not be universal.) (Don't ask me to sing opera for you because I don't actually like opera.)

5. Has writing from someone else’s POV changed your perspective?

I think most of the perspective changes that have come out of stories have been from reading for me? Like the first time I was really exposed to the idea of transness was a Harry Potter fic (suck on that, JKR) and that obviously really stuck with me. But I think the desire to write from queer povs really helped me come to terms with my own sexuality, maybe more than actually doing it. I guess writing narrative essays, which I do less frequently than straight up fiction, is usually a way for me to explore things I feel about myself and about the world.

6. Tumblr, AO3, LiveJournal, or FFN?

AO3 foreverrrrrrr. I was on ffn in my misspent youth and Very briefly on lj, but ao3 has been my home since 2014 and it would take a lot to get me to move.

7. AO3 word count? And are you satisfied with it?

646,046, and soon enough it'll jump another 100,000. Honestly not sure how I feel about that.

8. What movie/book gripped you irrevocably?

I will never not love Tamora Pierce's Tortall series. I know they're kind of dated and don't hold up in some places, but they've been in my bloodstream so long that they're basically a part of my understanding of the world. They shaped so much of my ideas on literature - how to create compelling characters and relationships, what makes a world believable, what fantasy even is - and honestly I think they're responsible for about 50% of my sense of humor and at least a quarter of my relationship to gender. They were my first fandom and in the end I'll always come back to them.

9. What’s the highest compliment you could ever be given, and have you been given it?

One of my plays deals with a very difficult emotional subject and is quite frankly pretty depressing the whole way through, and after the premiere a friend of mine came up to me and said "it was so so funny; I was laughing the entire time." That's what I always want my writing to do, not so much in fic but out in the world - I want to give people catharsis, and I hope they leave the reading or viewing experience feeling a little better than they did going in. And also I want people to laugh at my jokes.

10. What defines your writing style?

Can I say inconsistency? No but really it's definitely dialogue. I struggle with descriptive prose sometimes, but I never have to work at dialogue. I think it's my strongest area and people always tell me it's snappy (thank you Tamora Pierce). Other than that uhh... too many commas probably.

Are you currently reading anything? Why did you choose to read it? I haven't been reading anything. I do have a book of history essays that I read on-off, if anything...I can only get to it when I'm in a certain mood and if I have the time. And I don't always have lots of the latter.

Do you prefer water slides or roller coasters? Is there a reason? Ooh water slides, easily. I can't ride roller coasters - the motion sickness I get from them is too much. Plus with slides, splashing into the water immediately after always adds to the fun.

What did you do today? Traveled to a place I've never been to before for work; had amazing mozzarella sticks at said place I've never been to before; had the most unpleasant religious conversation during my Grab ride home (why are their drivers more frequently trying to shove their god down my throat hahaha?); ate sisig rolls with rice for dinner; and have since been spending the rest of evening watching clips of my latest hyperfixation - BIGBANG lol.

Do you like writing stories or reading them better? You'll always find me reading them. I've desperately tried writing stories – it's just never been meant for me.

What, other than music, is your “outlet”? Bold of you to assume music is one of them, lmao. Anyway, for me it's pretty basic tbh - I just need YouTube and all the time in the world. I don't really ever run out of things to watch there.

Are you one of the people who believes their iPod/music is their life? No.

Are there any keys on your keyboard that have letters fading away? Impressively enough on this 8 year old laptop, no. Looks good as new.

Are you wasting your time with the person you like right now? I don't like anybody.

Do you remember the exact words that were said to end your last relationship? Continued from last night. No. And I'm thankful that I don't. Remembering the things I'm better off forgetting would be brutal for me mentally, I think.

What was the last song you had on repeat for more than 10 minutes? Home Sweet Home - GD, Taeyang, Daesung.

Is there anyone you used to have a crush on that you’d be embarrassed to admit to now? Yes. I had a few childhood crushes I'd like to keep tucked far, far away in the darkest of closets, lmao.

What was your favourite grade? Least favourite? If I'm remembering correctly, Year III (junior year, high school) was my favorite and best year both academically and in how my social circle exponentially expanded at the time.

Worst is easily Grade 6 - I had no friends, no social skills, and my grades were pretty lackluster. I think this was a time when life at home was difficult, what with my mom being at her peak Abusive Monster Mom phase...so it kinda crept its way into every aspect of my life, especially school.

What grade did you have the best marks? The worst? I made particular efforts in Years III and IV only because your marks in those levels are included in UP's computation for your UPCAT grade – so I definitely went the extra mile to perform well then.

Worst scores I think would be a three-way tie across Grade 4, Grade 6, and Year I. Hahahaha I hated studying so even though I know I could've done better, I just never put in the effort up until the one single point I knew it actually mattered, aka taking the UPCAT.

Is your iPod always charged, or do you leave it dead for a while? I'll refer to my phone for this one – it's not always charged. I'm quite terrible at maintaining the battery on it and oftentimes I'll let it go straight to zero.

Do you like long car rides, or do they bore you? My feelings about them vary depending on the destination. Am I going on a leisure trip with my immediate family? If yes, then I'd look forward to the ride, no matter how long it'd take. Am I traveling 100 km just to attend a work event/shoot? I'd already be dreading it like 48 hours before.

Are you hard to make conversation with? Not at all. I get excited with conversations + have no problem opening up, and enjoy it all the more when the other person matches my energy for small talk.

Do you read lots of magazines? Nope.

In your opinion, who’s the best looking celebrity right now? Aw man I have the fattest crush on G-Dragon these days...other than him, hmmm this is gonna be a problematic/questionable opinion for some lol but I've always found Kendall Jenner pretty. Xu Minghao too!

Would you rather go to a Taylor Swift or Kate Voegele concert? I'd rather stay home or do something else that day.

What is one concert you’re not going to that you’d do anything to be at? None at the moment + for the most part, I've been able to go to the shows I wanted to go to. The only exception was in 2023 when I had to miss out on Bruno Mars since I had JUST come from my Bangkok trip + it was simply impossible to get tickets for his show anyway. The entire Philippines wanted to see him. I wanted to see him, lmao. I'm still bummed and bitch about missing him to this day LOL

What is a song you think is played on the radio way too often? I don't tune in to the radio nearly enough to make a judgment on this.

Who of your best friends have you not hung out with? I haven't really had a 1:1 date with Reena.

Who have you hung out with the most? Why? Angela. It's a bonus that she lives relatively close by; but distance notwithstanding, I know I'd see her the most often regardless. I've said it here many times but we're pretty much sisters and our lives are just super intertwined with one another's at this point that we naturally just spend the most time together.

Who was the last person to buy you something? Probably one of my parents; I can't particularly recall at the moment.

What did you last eat? Did you make it for yourself? A burger from Jollibee.

Are you talking to anybody right now? What is your relationship with them? Nope.

As a child, did you ever go to camp? I did not.

Do you remember who the first person you ever had a sleepover with was? Yes.

Who was the last person you had a sleepover with? I don't have lots of those anymore, lol. Last one was in 2022 when I spent the night at Angela's ahead of our quick vacation in Zambales.

How do you decide which surveys to take? Continued yet again from the night before. I can go for anything, really, but I watch out especially for surveys that are a layer deeper than the basics (favorite color, favorite movie, etc. Which works out for me, since most surveys do a great job of being creatively random.

If necessary, do you think you could go a whole week without eating? I would never do this as an active choice.

What was the last movie you watched, and with who? I'm having such a hard time remembering – I never watch movies anymore! I can tell you the last series I watched a few minutes of, though: Coffee Prince, lol.

What is something that scares a lot of people that doesn’t bother you? Public speaking.

What is something that doesn’t bother a lot of people, but scares you? Fire. I can't even turn on a lighter or use a stove.

Do you like all kinds of music, or are there some you won’t listen to? There's a lot of genres I wouldn't listen to. I'm not much of a music person to begin with, and I tend to stick to the genres I already like.

Who was the last person to have their arm around you? Why? My dad...we were just walking around the mall earlier and he rested his arm on my shoulder just because.

What was the reason for you last being mad at your best friend? I was kinda pissed at Reena for not looping me in her plans to get ticket purchasing assistance for Hobi's concert, lmao.

How often do you get mad at your best friend? I never get mad at Angela and Andi. Reena and I have a few fundamental differences that throw me off sometimes, but for the most part we're great and I try not to let it get in the way of our friendship.

Do you feel bad for people easily? Not usually. But what a broad question. I guess it depends.

I can draw any of the above, but facing left has been my default

I was really obsessed with Shyguys

Characters interacting SUCKS but I love drawing it and want to immediately be better at it please and thank you

5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself

I used to post nearly everything that I drew online. Only recently did I start keeping art for myself. So I'd say 80% of my work is out there

6. Anything that might inspire you subconsciously (i.e. this horse wasn't supposed to look like the Last Unicorn but I see it)

If I had to guess it'd probably be Danganronpa, though truthfully I can't imagine what subconsciously inspired me

7. A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate

I really enjoy pancake art! It's one of my favorites

8. What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in

I wanted to do a FoT Five versus Nine animatic to the song "You're Gonna Go Far Kid" by The Offspring. It was already too complicated for me and it's been 6 years since so I dropped it

I name based on what the drawing is supposed to be, so in case I forget what I'm drawing, I have the file name reminding me what it is (they can get very long and descriptive)

None lol, I forgot how to draw clothes

I usually don't, but on some occasions I listen to anything and everything

I found that warm ups end up sapping my energy, so I only do them if I don't plan on doing any big pieces for the day. Just wanna get my drawing exercises in

synopsis: there's a halloween event at your uni and a few students are in the mood for misfit.

A cloud of dust flurries around the room the moment you set one of the boxes down the floor, making you sneeze. You half expected the theatre storage room to be cleaner this time of the year due to the frequent visits and rummaging of the other students, but that sadly wasn't the case.

Your class was one of the few that had a small reenactment planned for tonight's event and you were doing Tangled. Your class president's request to gather the props and costumes needed for tonight was no match for the excitement you felt when you'd been granted to play the role of your favorite character, Rapunzel. You just didn't expect the place to look like it hadn't been cared for in years, and the props and costumes to be as heavy as they are. A little help would be nice right now.

The door creaks and you quickly turn around, sighing in relief when you saw the the chair still pressed against the old door . Your class president had warned you about the door's broken knob. The thing can only be opened from the outside, and once you get shut in, you can only hope for someone to notice and get you out. Unless, of course, you're willing to face the consequences for breaking school property.

You exercised a little caution upon entering earlier, blocking the door from accidentally closing. You check the time on the clock. The play was going to start in an hour or so and luckily you were already in costume, so that's one less problem. All you needed to do now was gather the last box of costumes and you were out. The box was placed at the far end of the room so you make your way there, carefully maneuvering around the dusty cabinets and compartments as to not soil your costume.

Another creak echoes in the room and you paid it no mind, crouching down to check the contents of each box. The chair you placed there was pretty heavy, and it'd take more than the wind to push it away. You continue to check the boxes until you hear another creak and the sound of the door slamming shut.

You frantically stood up and felt the life of you being drained out as you see the door closely shut and a familiar pink hair sticking out from the other side of the cabinets.

"Oof, the winds sure are strong this time of year." You hear the person chuckle to himself and you knew all too well who it was.

You scramble your way towards the front, fuming. "Yeonjun, what the fuck?!"

"Holy—" Yeonjun jumps, clutching his chest. "Y/N?! What the hell was that for?! You scared me." He huffs, trying to calm himself down.

You glare up at him. "Do you even know what you just did?!"

Yeonjun sighs, holding his arms up. "Yes, I know, I know. I shouldn't have entered the storage room, but listen—"

"No, you listen. Do you seriously not know what you just did?" You snap.

Yeonjun gives you a confused look. "Huh? You're not talking abour me coming inside the storage room?" He cocks his head to the side when you don't answer. Poor guy felt like he was in the middle of an interrogation. He was starting to feel uncomfortable with how pissed you looked so he turns toward the door. "Look, if you're not gonna answer me then I'll just come back when you're done and—"

"Oh." Yeonjun tries twisting the doorknob again. "Haha, is this thing broken?" He laughs it off, now facing you. "You have a key right?"

Silence.

"If the key works then I wouldn't be mad right now, Yeonjun." You tell him and the gears in his mind finally click. He just locked you both in.

An idea lights up in his head and he starts searching through his pockets. "Wait, I think I have my phone with— wait, wait— yeah, no." He chuckles nervously, eyes slowly meeting yours. "You don't happen to have your phone, do you?"

"Yeah, well that's exactly why I'm here." Yeonjun sits down on top one of the boxes. "I have to dress up as the Beast and hand out flyers later but it's at the same time as Kai's performance and you know I wouldn't miss it for the world. Plus, he threatened me if I don't show up, so I got someone to switch with me."

You raise a brow, crossing your arms. "That doesn't explain why you're here though."

"Rapunzel didn't exactly have any pockets in her outfit, Yeonjun." You give your costume a quick patting. "What are you doing here anyway? I thought your department was doing this whole Beauty and the Beast themed buffet."

"I'm getting there." Yeonjun winks or at least tries to. "We have a lot of time anyway."

"Speak for yourself." You throw a dusty old rag at him and he coughs after it hits his face. "Our play starts in an hour and I have to get these costumes to them in 10 minutes. And now we're both stuck here because of you."

"Alright, I'll cut to the chase! Let's make a deal."

You throw another rag at him and he catches it, throwing it to the ground. You huff, "You're not exactly in the position to make deals, Yeonjun. You got us into this mess."

"Well, you're not in the position to decline either since we're both stuck here." Yeonjun smirks, standing up. "Look, one of my seniors is in charge of handing us our costumes and he won't be arriving for another hour. I have to get the costume myself so I can hand it to my substitute but I can't do that when my senior's keeping an eye on me. So here's the thing," He walks over to the Beast's costume that was hung up along with a few others. "You let me take this costume and swear you won't tell anyone about it. If someone from the theatre approaches you later asking about the costume, you say you don't know anything. In return, I'll get us out of here ASAP."

You stare back at him in annoyance. As much as you'd like to rat on him as usual, you were one of Kai's closest friends and unfortunately, Yeonjun was also a friend of his, hence why you knew each other. Kai at least needed one of his friends to be there for his performance and it certainly wouldn't be you. He had told you after you'd been chosen as Rapunzel and you both understood that you had your own things going on at the same time so it's fine. You still planned on making it until his last song though.

"Fine. I'm only doing this for Kai and the fact that I'm desperate to get out of here." You agree to the compromise and Yeonjun grins. "But the moment I'll get in trouble for being caught lying, you don't even wanna imagine what I'll do to you."

"Works for me." Yeonjun reaches out his hand and you two shake on it. "Now, I'm gonna need your wig."

"What? No." Your hands instinctively rope in Rapunzel's long ass wig. "It took me nearly 30 minutes to prepare this."

"Fine, then you'll have to do it yourself." Yeonjun walks over to the small window placed up high on the wall. "There's a lot of people down there but I doubt they'll hear us screaming from the third floor. Instead," He grins, pointing at your wig. "You're gonna stick your arm out with the wig and twirl it around to get their attention."

His idea was the dumbest thing you'd heard that day but it actually might be dumb enough to work. You were pretty desperate already. What's a little wig sacrifice? "Fine." You sigh, approaching him. "Hand me the chair."

"Can't." Yeonjun shakes his head. "I moved it outside."

You frown. "How am I supposed to get up there, then? None of these boxes can hold my weight."

Yeonjun chuckles as he opens his arms. "Don't worry, I'll hold you up."

Your feel your face heat up at his suggestion. The room suddenly felt a bit stuffier than it had been a moment ago and you wish you didn't have to be in this situation. "Be careful with the dress."

"Sure, sure." Yeonjun coos, moving in closer to scoop you up.

The two of you struggle for a while to balance yourselves. Yeonjun had his arms wrapped around your legs as he hoisted you up, and you quickly gather the rest of your wig and toss the length through the window.

"Start twirling it around!"

You do as he says and starts twirling the wig around like a madman.

"Start screaming! HEE— ah wait, HEEELP!!"

You giggle when his voice cracked in the middle. "HELP!!"

A crowd gathers on the ground, marvelling at the sight of a spinning wig from the third floor. A few students heard your screams and sent someone up there to rescue you. Luckily, it wasn't the senior that Yeonjun had told you about so she left the two of you to sort things out on your own after opening the door. It still baffles you how his plan even worked to begin.

The clock catches your attention, reminding you of your tight deadline. You quickly gather the boxes of props and costumes you'd prepared earlier and made a quick stop at where Yeonjun was. "I have to go." You tell him.

"Yeah, me too." Yeonjun flashes you a smile but the duffle bag he was holding doesn't go unnoticed. He follows your line of sight and chuckles when he sees you were staring at the bag. "A deal's a deal. Don't worry too much about it, we won't get caught." He attempts another wink, and this time it actually works.

"Bye then." You nod, not wanting to waste anymore time.

"Wait!" Yeonjun holds on to your wrist and you turn around, meeting his gaze. "Good luck."

"Yeah, we both know that's not what you want to say." You grin.

"You're gonna try to show up later right?" Yeonjun smirks. "I'll save you a seat next to me."

It was morning in Japan, winter was about to end and trees were slowly recovering after shedding their withered leaves by growing lush green ones in their place. Innocent birds awakened by the first rays of the sun started chirping their favourite song, the fellow humans waking up to their melodious vocals. Well, except for one.

"Jonita-san~!! Wake up, it's eight already!!" the lady of the Kujo's residence yelled from the kitchen. The lady had her favourite apron on and was making breakfast, her golden hair tied in a loose bun and her hands working skillfully as she prepared the morning delicacies.

The one who was known as Jonita, though sleeping in the room two doors away from the kitchen, heard the lady clearly, but all she replied to it was a groan and a snort, and she let her head down abruptly onto the pillow and fell asleep once again.

"Jonita san~~!!" The blonde lady called her once more, but still the sleepy-head gave no response. The lady then sighed and shook her head. Though it had been 3 days Jonita came to stay in Japan, she still wasn't used to her sleeping schedule.

The lady had already given up on waking the stubborn girl up, until a young boy ran with his sock-clad, little feet into the girl's room. He giggled, and sat beside her head, and started to ruffle the sleepy girl's violet locks with his little hands, which finally made the girl slowly open one of her eye and smile at the boy.

"Good morning Jotaro" she said sleepily. "Morning Jojo!!" the boy named Jotaro giggled once more. Jonita grinned and got up from the futon, fully awaken, and sat cross-legged. She then lifted Jotaro up and made him sit on her thigh.

"Did you sleep well, Joot??" she asked the child as she caressed his soft raven locks. "Yeah I did, and I dreamt of the ocean" Jotaro replied with a certain pride in his tone.

"Again?? You really seem to love the ocean, huh??". Jotaro grinned and nodded vigorously. Jonita giggled and ruffled his hair.

"What about you Jojo?? What did you dream of??". "I dreamt of my children. All of them were playing in the garden while me and my husband were having a picnic under a huge tree as we watched our children having a good time. I wish it comes true one day" Jonita ruminated.

"Hmmm......Well, thinking of dreams is making me feel hungry. I bet Mama has made something good today". "Boy, she always does. Holly's cooking is worth dying for".

Jotaro then got off Jonita's thigh and quickly ran towards the kitchen to get the bulletins of today's breakfast menu. Jonita then stood up and folded her futon, remembering how Holly taught her to do so. She then stretched herself and started to get ready for today.

After she had changed from her pyjamas to purple track pants and red full-sleeve cropped hoodie and combed her hair nicely to let it down, she then made her way to the dining room.

"So you are finally awake, Jonita-san" Holly commented. "Yeah, sorry. I had a really good dream and I didn't want to wake up" the purplenette rubbed her neck.

"Was it about your husband again??" Holly asked. "Yeah. I just miss him so much. It has been years since I have seen him" she said as she sat down to have her food.

"Hmmm....I wonder when I will fall in love madly with someone as you have" Jotaro told her as he settled his head on his palms.

Jonita choked on her own saliva as soon as she heard Jotaro say that. She then clears her throat and replies.

"D-Don't you think you are too young to fall in love with someone, Joot??". "B-But I'm 7 years old!! Is that not enough??" Jotaro asked.

"I-I guess but, for falling in love with someone, you will need time. Love is when two people like each other so much that are ready to sacrifice themselves just for the well-being of their lover. In order to love a person, you need someone to whom you feel a certain attraction".

"Certain att-rec-sion??" Jotaro tried to pronounce the word. "Yeah". "But where will I find such a person??". "You will have to wait, Jotaro. You cannot hurry love, always remember that".

"Alright everyone, eat quickly before it gets cold" Holly clapped her hands. Jotaro and Jonita said their prayers in Japanese (Jonita had to learn it otherwise Holly never left her alone) and then started to eat their breakfast.

"Jonita-san, you do remember that you have to take Jotaro out today, right??" Holly asked. Jonita stopped chewing her omelette and looked at the blonde lady hovering over her. She then grinned stupidly at her, the omelette still inside her mouth.

Holly sighed and crossed her hands.

"You forgot, didn't you??".

Jonita swallowed the food she had in her mouth and said "Forgot?? No No, I was just......caught off-guard, that's all" she argued, but Holly didn't take that.

"Listen Jonita-san, Jotaro is at a growing age, and if he doesn't get any exercise, I'm afraid he might become very weak when he grows up, and you are the best person who can get him into some good physical activities" Holly said worriedly.

"Don't worry Holly, Jotaro is of the Joestar bloodline. There is no way he would ever grow up as weak. Even if he doesn't workout, he would still grow up to be as buff as a bull" Jonita caressed Jotaro's raven hair as she smiled at Holly.

Holly sighed once more and looked at Jonita with pleading eyes and a frown. This made Jonita drop her stupid grin, and soon she admitted defeatedly while letting out a big puff of air from her mouth.

"Fine. Exercise, right?? I will make him do it".

By hearing that, Holly got to her usual cheery self as clapped her hands once more. "Okey-Dokey!!" and then she twirled into the kitchen while humming a tune.

Jonita giggled as she ate the last piece of her breakfast. Jotaro too had finished his food and Jonita collected both of their dishes to keep it in the sink.

"Listen Joot, I'm giving you 10 minutes. Get into your best attire as we are going out to practice" Jonita spoke as if she was taking Jotaro out for a war.

"Yes ma'am!!" the boy saluted the purplenette and ran to his room. Jonita smiled to herself. She was sure that Jotaro would grow up to be a very cheerful and bubbly person, just like his mother.

A few minutes later, Jotaro arrived with a white full-sleeve shirt and black short suspenders on. However, Jonita bursted into a fit of laughs as soon as she saw the young boy.

The reason was because Jotaro had worn the shirt inside-out and over the suspenders. Also, his black hair was in a tangled mess as compared to before.

Jonita then kneeled in front of him and started to correct his attire, starting from removing his shirt.

"You should have called me to dress you Joot" Jonita told him. "But I wanted to show you that I'm not a little boy anymore and that I can dress myself" Jotaro pouted.

Jonita chuckled as she finished correcting his outfit. "You are 7 Jotaro, Not 17".

She then ran her palm against Jotaro's head to smoothen his short hair. However, there were some curly ends which were impossible to straighten so she let them be.

"There you go. All set" she then stood up. "Ready to go, big boy??". "You bet I am". She then grinned and then both of them got into their shoes.

"We will return soon Holly!!" she shouted. Holly came to the door with high speed and hugged Jonita hard which made her tumble a little. "S-Stop...I can't breathe" Jonita giggled. Holly then lets her go as she smiled at her.

Holly then gave Jotaro his goodbye kiss. "Mom, I'm too big for goodbye kisses now" Jotaro pouted. "But you will always stay small for Mama, Jotaro" Holly replied. Jotaro blushed and looked at the ground.

Jonita then chuckled and exited the house, Jotaro following her. Both of them waved to Holly and she waved them back. "Come back soon!!" she said, and then she went inside, picking up another tune.

*30 minute time skip, brought to you by Everything is a Cake*

"OK, that's it for today" Jonita informed. Jotaro fell on the ground with a thud as he finally dropped his plank position and let out a puff of air from relief.

"You did a great job Joot. Don't you feel good??" Jonita asked the tired boy with satisfaction in her tune.

"No" the boy replied breathlessly.

"No?? What do you mean 'no'??" her smile dropped. "I'm really tired Jojo" The boy told her.

"Already?? Your grandfather was more active than you when he was 7 years old!!" she stated.

"And second of all, all you have done today is 15 situps, 30 pushups and 2 minute plank hold. Joseph on the other hand used to do twice as much as you have!!".

"Why do you always compare me with Grandpa??" Jotaro gained some strength to sit cross-legged and rubbed off the mud on his cheek.

"Because I want to make you stronger than him, Joot". Jonita then lifted Jotaro up on his feet. She then dusted him off and cupped his cheeks.

"Jotaro, you are the successor of the Joestar bloodline, so you need to be strong. Your mother has the right to be worried about your health as many obstacles will come in your way and you have to be strong to battle them all. Understand??"

"Hmm" Jotaro nodded. Jonita then smiled and kissed Jotaro's forehead. She then stood up and asked the young boy.

"Since I'm happy with your progress, how about we go and get some ice-cream??". Jotaro's mood turned brighter and nodded vigorously with a big grin. Jonita chuckled and then lifted him up, keeping his head on her shoulder while supporting his bottom with her hand.

"To the ice-cream shop then!!!". "Hai!!!!" and then they both sprinted towards the nearest shop.

*Two minute time skip, brought to you by Wide Putin*

"Are you really saying the truth Jojo??". "Yeah. Your grandfather once dressed as a woman in order to sneak in the military base". "Did it work??". "Ehh, almost. But it looked pretty obvious that it was a man dressed up as a woman. I mean, in those days, women with big muscles were not a thing, not to mention the guards were a bunch of perv--AAAH!!!"

"Oh, I'm so sorry Dear. My child didn't mean to hurt you deliberately". A woman with cherry red hair was holding the hand of a boy with the same hair colour. It looked like the boy was the lady's son. The only difference was that the boy had an exceptionally long, wavy bang which was almost as long as his face.

The redhead had kicked Jonita's leg so hard that she almost dropped Jotaro, but instead of being angry at the kid, she was actually impressed that the boy being so young was able to make a grown-up adult stumble.

Setting her thoughts aside, she gave a weak smile to the lady and said "It's alright". The lady too smiled at her and then she continued to walk with her son to the opposite direction.

"Are you OK Jojo??" Jotaro asked the girl. "Yeah I'm fine" she replied. She let Jotaro down and started to rub the area where the boy had kicked her.

"Say, are you OK Joot?? You didn't get hurt, did you??". "N-No, I'm fine" Jotaro looked the ground.

Jonita raised her eyebrow at him. Something was wrong with Jotaro. He didn't usually behave like this........unless he was very flustered.

"Jotaro". "Y-Yes??". "Are you blushing??". "What?? N-No I'm not" Jotaro tried to cover his cheeks with his hands. "So you ARE blushing" Jonita stated. She then scooted closer to Jotaro and asked.

"Tell me, is it because of that boy??". Jotaro's eyes widen as he tried to hide his face from the purplenette.

Jonita then made a smug face and asked "Love at first sight huh??". "S-Stop teasing me Jojo" Jotaro whined. "I'm not teasing you. I'm just saying the facts".

Jotaro them blushed more than before. Jonita tried to hold her laughs but she couldn't, and she began to giggle at Jotaro's cute behaviour.

"Anyways, Joot". "Hmm??". "Wanna know if he likes you back without asking him??".

Jotaro was now full red. He looked at Jonita and asked "I-Is it really possible to know that??". Jonita nodded with a smile. "It's a very old trick but it's very accurate". "S-S-Sure. Let's try it then".

Jonita smirked and then made Jotaro face the direction where the redheads were going. "OK so, you can see the boy walking, right??". "Yeah".

"The thing is now that Joot, if he has fallen for you, he would turn around and look at you" Jonita spoke. "And that's it??" Jotaro looked at her. "Yeah" she replied. "OK" Jotaro shrugged.

"Oh you just believe in me Jotaro, he will definitely turn back at look at you with those innocent eyes". "S-Stop it Jojo". "Sorry".

The redheads didn't show any sign of stopping as the kid walked slowly along his mother.

Turn around.......

Jotaro and Jonita watched each and every step they took, looking for at least a slight clue.

Turn around......................

They had almost reached to the end of the road and still there was no sign. The Joestar and the Kujo still stared at them. They were 100% sure that the boy was going to turn back. And guess what happened...........

Turn around, Dammit!!.............

The little boy finally shifted his body back to look at the two who were staring lasers at him with his big, amethyst eyes, showing curiosity and..........longing. A light blush was visible on his fair cheeks as he gazed at the young ravenhead.

Jonita gasped and fell backwards to the ground, not caring about getting hurt. She then screamed on top of her lungs.

"MY BABY IS IN LOOOOOOOOOOOVE!!!!!!!"

The redhead laughed at the silly lady's reaction and tried to cover his laugh with his mouth. The mother however was taken aback by the immature girl's behaviour as she turned around and cringed.

"What a weird mother. No wonder why she looks so young. She must be a teenager mom" she said to herself.

Jotaro had lost himself in the redhead's violet eyes as he locked his own green ones with the other boy, but soon snapped himself out of it and waved at the redhead with a grin. The young boy's blush grew more as he returned the wave with a small cute smile.

"Come on Noriaki, look forward otherwise you might trip yourself". The boy whose name was Noriaki turned his attention to his mother and followed what she said. After that, they completely vanished from Jojo's eyesight range.

"Y-You were right Jojo. How did you know that it will work??" Jotaro asked with amazement. "I have lived for more than 500 years Jotaro. How can I not know about love??".

Jotaro chuckled and then pushed Jonita up again. She then dusted herself and then spoke. "Let's tell your love story to Holly first after we get some ice-cream". Jotaro nodded and followed Jonita to where they were going next.

*Five minutes time skip, brought to you by Baby Yoda*

"HOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLYYYYYY!!!!!!" Jonita sprinted into the Kujo's residence in search of the blonde lady.

"Jonita-san, is everything OK??" Holly came out of a random room and asked her. As soon the purplenette spotted blonde hair, she lunged at Holly and gave her a death hug while lifting her up.

"J-Jonita-san, what happened??". "Jotaro........he is in love!!!". "What, really???" Holly's eyes brightened up. Jonita nodded, confirming her statement.

Just like Jonita, Holly gasped from happiness and hugged Jonita with a high-pitched squeal, and then they both jumped round and round squealing like high-school girls.

"So who is the lucky girl??" Holly asks. "Well, it's a boy, actually" Jonita replied. Holly's smile dropped a little. "A boy??" she asked. "Yes" she replied. "I-I see" Holly tucked a strand of loose hair behind her ear.

"Mama mama, I'm in love!!" Next was Jotaro who ran to his mother and hugged her. Holly hesitantly wrapped her arms around Jotaro as he started babbling about how good-looking his love interest was.

"And he had those pretty purple eyes. They were like the colours of pansies. And his hair was so red. Even the reddest of apples were nothing in front of him. His smile was the best thing of all".

"That's really......nice, Jotaro". By hearing her reply, Jotaro looked at his mother with a little disbelief. She sounded disappointed, he thought.

"I-It's really good to fall in love but, with a boy?? It doesn't seem normal to me". Jotaro let go of her mother as he backed away from her. Was his ears deceiving him?? Did his mother just called him.........adnormal??

"Jotaro I.....I got to talk to Papa. You stay here with Jonita-san. If you are feeling hungry then there is food in the kitchen. I'll be right back" she then went away to the opposite direction without saying anything else.

Jonita just stood where she was in shock. She didn't expect Holly to react like this. She was literally standing there, praying that all she just witnessed was a bad dream and nothing else.

Idle Hands - Mana

To say I heard about Idle Hands and their debut LP here via a little bit of underground hype would be an understatement. As long as a month ago I was hearing the most zealous praise (from those with advance copies) for this album as the undisputed album of the year that no other album would be likely to beat. I feel like at this point it's probably pretty predictable from my intro sentences how I'm feeling about an album when I'm bringing up how much underground metal fawns over an album, and yes, once again, I'm not seeing it this time either. I know bringing up my view in the context of its contrast to other metalheads' is probably getting old, but I do so mostly to offer up the grain of salt myself when I'm falling in what I'm seeing as the critical minority. It's not a personal or professional (I'm not professional here) mandate by any means, I just want to provide context for how other people are feeling about an album, I don't want to get hung up on it, and I'm even tired of being so frequently against the grain with the metal underground at this point myself too. But the way people have been just foaming at the mouth over this album has had me way more perplexed than the usual cases when I disagree with such mad adoration. So what are these people making such a big deal about?

Idle Hands are a relatively young four-piece from Portland, Oregon whose members united with a good deal of experience from other bands within their local scene. They released a short EP last year, but this debut full-length has certainly been the big attention-grabber, and an efficient and effective one at that. As any metal paleontologist could probably predict from their sharp, clean, spiderweb-laden logo, the band play a very traditional style of metal with plenty of gothic influences strewn all throughout. And as far as I can tell, that rather meager style combination is what is blowing minds left and right. And I dig the style too, but this album is definitely not near the first or the best to do it.

The band seem very focused on maintaining their aesthetic on this album to the point where it sounds like it's a constant struggle for them to do so. They have the basics down, and frontman Gabriel Franco's uncannily Volbeat-esque vocal style does fit well with the sound of this album, even if he sometimes honks on a bit like a horn through the sections where he uses very little of his range. There are also these brief grunts he frequently uses that get really annoying as the album wears on. But for real, the vocal resemblance to Michael Poulsen on the already Volbeat-ballad-ish "Jackie" was so unsettlingly uncanny. Especially those "woah"s.

The classic heavy metal guitar interplay between clean or distorted rhythm and the leads are certainly on of the album's strengths, and the occasional blast beats and double-bass the drums provide like those on "Blade and the Will" and at the end of "Don't Waste Your Time" are definitely refreshing amid the homogenously slow-droning compositions. Indeed, it's the compositional department, which basic, repetitive, and dragging songs like the title track, "Nightfall", and "Cosmic Overdrive" illustrate, where the band aren't quite as accomplished as their disciples swear them to be, relying on the little novelty of their style to stretch them across typical structures and very little emotional potence or variety.

The band do seem to do a bit better with the faster and more energetic cuts like "Give Me to the Night" and "Double Negative", even if they do shed a bit of gothic mystique for it, but it's worth it for the dynamic these more directly metallic songs bring to the album's cruise-control joyride through clean-cut traditional metal tropes.

I will say, though, that the patient build from the clean guitar intro on "It'll Be Over Before You Know It" through intermittent drum hits provides a great segue into the soulful gothic power balladry of the expressive "A Single Solemn Rose", probably one of the most consistently engaging moments on the album.

I definitely know the feeling of being so incredibly moved by something that seems like no big deal to the unimpressed. I know it's a common phenomenon of fanboying Meshuggah: feeling moved at the very core of one's being by something many others just don't get that feeling from. And I am willing to offer that that may be what's going on here with Idle Hands, and I'm on the other side of the table this time, but I have to at least express what my experience with this album has been. And it really hasn't been bad. I know the hype train it rode in on probably did more of a detriment to my getting on to enjoying it, but it is still a strong debut album with good bones that I think just needs to be groomed a bit more. Mana is just very much a debut album and it seems the band still need some time to figure out their best approach to this style, and I don't think the instant critical acclaim from some people is doing them any favors when there are definitely aspects of their craft that need honing, as most bands younger than even my measly blog often need. I think they have a good thing going for them and if they do focus on improving their signature sound, then they can certainly make the magnificent retro gothic metal masterpiece their ardent supporters think this album is.

One who takes into consideration that the world is his oyster, Kid Pro effortlessly plummets your favorite rapper's career.

As an active member of society, Kid Pro has tapped into a higher knowledge that most don't possess. In the midst of flipping the pages of philosophical books that speak on self-absorption & swimming against the current — he also impliments it into his own work. If he isn't speaking on racial issues or our very corrupted government, then the all-around prophet is slapping around those with "murder on their mind" with a word of advice, e.g Classified ft. Mickey Jaggs which speaks on how we're still slaves in todays society, police brutality & how we sell our own stories to tabloids. Mickey Jaggs: "Taking attention of off the sh*t where the focus should be at/Gave us freedom to choose but don’t give a f*ck about the choice/We all pawns & the bosses are anonymous/So distracted by idols that they idolize never even notice that they feed them lies.. goodbye” Yet his deep appreciation for golden hip-hop gives him the ability to mesh all of these subjects together with hard-hitting rhymes like "“Last name 'fuck', first name 'don’t', middle name 'give a so-nigga what you want." or “My true knowledge only came from true suffering now a nigga 4G so I ain’t never buffering.” (Technical Difficulties), boom bap & east coast vibes.

To simply put it, Kid Pro keeps in mind that there's always room for improvement. If he isn't venturing into his own Cons & Pros "The protagonist been laying low/Charging up like a proton." then he's encouraging others to "think global" & to "never get stuck on the locals." (ProZilla)

Bleeding yellow, red & blue — Kid Pro basks into his Columbian heritage with pride.

Even though he's from Parsippany, NJ where the music scene isn't booming, Kid Pro has found a way to make it work. "It’s a big enough town to hold two high schools, but small enough to where everyone pretty much knows or knows of each other."

Asides from being an MC, Kid Pro is an influx of other things.

On the whole he's an producer, engineer & even a father of two who teaches them about life. Yet he also learns more about himself in the process. In a word, KID PRO says it's an enjoyable journey that continues to levitate with time. " My constant pursuit is to be the best version of myself that I can be. I’ve gotten to a point in my life where I can no longer stand by & just do nothing. Any day spent just lounging around is a wasted opportunity to learn a new skill, improve on an old one, read a book, write a new song, etc. I hate that it takes death to appreciate life, but Nipsey’s passing hit me harder than I thought it would because of all the good he was doing outside of music. We were practically the same age & he was able to change & affect so many lives for the better. That continues to speak volumes to me and it’s been one of my sources of inspiration."

The moniker he chose stands for three important elements needed in order to live a prosperous life, "K stands for “Knowledge”, I stands for “Intensity”, & D stands for “Determination." According to the artist, if one wants to become a Pro at anything, these things will get them far. Hence "KID PRO."

If it wasn't for “Midnight Marauders” by A Tribe Called Quest, Kid Pro's love for hip-hop wouldn't be so massive. Still, them along with 9th Wonder & Little Brother have paved the way for his conscious sound.

His music journey started off with poetry in a middle school English class, which then transitioned into rapping in a basement on a $10 USB microphone & posting songs on Soundclick & MySpace.

According to the MC it was just something he thought was cool because he always watched music videos & listened to rap. But over time, it became his passion & therapy. For Kid Pro, making music allows him to express himself in ways that he isn't able to with just speaking. In fact, he can perform those same songs on a stage in front of people & have them relate to what he's saying. "My life was all about music." Kid Pro adds.

Thus far, Kid Pro has been blessed with many opportunities. He's traveled to different open mics/showcases/competitions & always meet new acts that are bringing new energy & rocking new flows that keep him on my toes. To Pro, the new generation of MC’s in that 20-25 year range look the absolute hungriest & impress him with how they’re able to command a huge presence not just on stage, but with social media in order to help push their brand.

Ultimately, Kid Pro is moved by those that go beyond their boundaries & don’t accept any limitations because the idea of making something out of nothing & presenting it to an audience to help them feel something comes with great joy & a never ending addiction. But his main source of inspiration comes from those he holds dear to his heart: His family.

As he asserts into lyricism, Kid Pro takes into account that music is forever changing. "I would say my strength comes in not being afraid to explore new concepts, flows & beat selection.” Kid Pro adds "You never want to get caught up in recreating what’s hot currently, but being a trendsetter for the next wave. I enjoy every aspect of the writing process. Being able to tell a story over a beat, rhyme & have consistent imagery & metaphors throughout, all while keeping the listener engaged with a melody is not the easiest thing to do. If it’s done right(& marketed right), you can change the world, & that’s what I aim for each time I pick up the pen."

Likewise, Kid Pro's main message to the crowd is to always strive to be the best version of yourself at all times. After all, tomorrow is never promised for anyone & we all have to live life as if we won’t get to see another day. "Before I get off stage at a show, I always recite a small “poem” I wrote randomly a few years back: “Keep Your Eyes Open/Open Your Mind/ Mind Your Business/ Business Before Pleasure/ Pleasure Your Life/ Life Is Good/ Good Night”.... It means a lot to me." he adds.

With this in mind, Kid Pro overcomes all in order to achieve true greatness. He gives those listening a crash-course on how to perceive, act & think about obstacles. He's learned how to deal with the source & never the middle man. And so, he aims to test his limits. Wait until mid-June, Kid Pro will be releasing an upcoming collab EP with @obbeatzz titled “KICKvSNARE” on all streaming platforms along with a solo project which will release in the Fall.

In the meantime, check out his freestyle series called #VersesAboutNothing. In this series he films & edits his own music videos. Kid Pro also showcases his lyrics over classic beats & original beats from producers he's met throughout the years.

Spell work:

I don't have too much time to put into this as I really need to get to sleep (This waking up at witching hour nearly every night is taking a toll one 🤦‍♀️ but I've heard it happens more frequently when your really starting to open up more to the spiritual world and learning more... So I'll take it but dang I need to learn more on how not to wake up in complete panic of being late for work.)

So as I've taken a deeper understanding to tarot cards and have been wanting to expand my collection of not just Tarot but also Oracle cards I thought I'd maybe even dive into spell work. When I was at McKays with Meek I found a few books, one called 'Magical Healing' but Hexe Claire which even though it intimidated me a bit I felt the need to get it. I also fount 'The apprentice witch spell book' by Marian Green and my ADHD brain thanks me. I knew it would be great because it's more colorful and has fun pictures to it so it will keep my brain entertained while trying to learn.

Now I haven't performed any spells from the books yet, I actually found a spell on a video I was watching, a small candle spell about accepting blessing into your life. Now I know I've never been good about accepting help, love and comfort from other people, I've gotten a lot better at it but it's not my favorite thing. I've been wanting to work on gratitude more and accepting love and blessing, after all, it is the season for it.

I performed it the first time the other night though, the same night I swear a spirit latched onto me from the haunted road I went on with Lex the night before. I saw the video and noticed the spell only required a candle which I had, most spells I see require other elements to them. It's a simple one though, just meditate on the blessings you seek while holding the candle, say the spell out loud and then set it on your alter for some time before sending you're intentions to the universe.

I tried the same spell tonight, this time I had a better understanding of what I was doing and readjusted my sort of...session? With my spirit guides. I meditated on the candle first, focusing on the flame, locking eyes with it, I noticed a sort of blue hue to it which I would like to look into more. I also found as I watched for a good five minutes that I wish I understood the meaning of flames more. The flame started to dance quite a bit as I stared, I took note of any air flow in my room but the way it danced wouldn't have been from any fan or draft.

At first I let the flame dance in awe, I then asked out loud if any of my spirit guides were with me and the flame pause for a second before going wild again. I felt this overwhelming feeling of comfort it me like I wasn't so alone and it brought tears to my eyes, I don't have much of an idea who my spirit guides are but I believe my grandmother is one of them and that always brings a familiar comfort too me. Although a side note, my empathy has been crazy lately too, so much so tiktok videos make me cry dammit 🤦‍♀️ I swear someone could enter the room to me sobbing like a baby and ask what's wrong and I would blubber out something about a dog and a baby cuddling or some silly video like that, also all the angel neighbors, everytime I look up I see them, all day. I swear it's like spiritual menopause or something.

Anywho I asked if my guides would be willing to communicate through tarot and the flame danced again and then I watched for another minute or so after, saying some random things here and there. At one point I watched the flame go completely towards me and sort of move left to right and then I saw it start to sort of make this o shape, I really found that to be interesting and it sort of mesmerized me.

After that I did a tarot reading and cot damn it was a good one. I felt more connected with the cards and my guides. I felt like I really was learning more and challenging my incredibly adhd (Which has also been raging lately) heavy mind.

Now I've done a bit of research into the meaning of the flame I had tonight and I feel pretty good and confident in my spell. Of course it is a small one but I'm not trying to mess with anything crazy for a first spell.

I found the meaning behind the direction the flame goes. Now I'm horrendous with direction so I can't speak which direction it was going but for reference for myself

North: If the flame flickers toward the north, it's said to be an indication that the cause is a physical one, not from a spirit.

East: A flame flickering toward the east indicates the mental part of your spell is working.

South: The bending of the flame toward the south demonstrates a great deal of physical energy surrounds your intent.

West: When the candle flame tilts to the west, it reveals the depth and energy of very strong emotions that are part of the spell work.

I also discovered as I went back for reference that a blue flame flickering can mean that a spirit is present, a red or yellow flame can mean a spirit is not present bit that it doesn't make the flame any less powerful.

Okay yes, fun learning. I want to add before I go that I need to look into 'A little book on candle magic' by DJ Conway.

Random fun things to note though while we're here:

Pup and I have matching Christmas pajamas which are super cute, the rents are trying to come and visit for the giving of thanks which could murder any relationship I have with my sister's, I've been looking at RVs which is fun, the new bakery will be opening late December/early January 🤩🤩, and we are so fucking close to 2020 being over finally!!!

All in all, I've been pretty happy, I'm at a good mental spot, I'm proud of my growing and honestly this is the first year that I can remember where I can smile and say "yeah there's been some shit but I've fought every fight with everything I had, picked myself up from every downfall, kept fighting and won every battle." It's been a year that's felt like 10, but fuck man, I feel like I gained the knowledge of those 10 years. I'm by no means a 34 year old, but fuck . I feel the blessings coming my way though, I know they will and I accept them all with open arms, an open mind, and an open heart 💓

Also 'Movement' by Hozier, I don't know why yet but my guides sent that song to me a few times today, so I'm making note of it.

These were fun! Well, most of them. For questions 21, 30, 42, 43, 49, and 50…they aren't things I've thought too much about before. I'm not in the right frame of mind to try at the moment and I didn't want to let the ask sit there unanswered until I did manage to think of something, so I'm just going to go ahead and skip them for now, sorry! ^^;

1: what inspires you?

Having a good idea I can be excited about? IDK. X'D

2: one of your favorite comments/reviews on this chapter/verse?

I love all my comments. ;u; I love the comments that go into detail about what they thought, the comments that are just a mess of flailing, the comments that tell me they stayed up all night reading, the comments that are just a line or two to say they liked it, and everything in between. Even if I could decide on one to use as an example, I wouldn't want to make anyone feel like I didn't appreciate their comment because it didn't look like that one.

3: what motivates you?

Being excited about an idea, getting to write a part I've been looking forward to, getting a nice comment on a fic, having the house to myself.

4: what time of the day/night do you like to write?

Either afternoon or at night once my mom's gone to bed.

5: do you write scenes in a linear fashion or do you write future scenes/dialogues sometimes?

I'll write snippets of future scenes if I think of something I don't want to lose, but otherwise I write pretty much linearly (aside from going back to rewrite previous scenes/chapters).

6: hardest/easiest character to write for?

I don't know if any of them are easy, exactly. It also depends on the scene and what they're going to be doing. Sometimes I know exactly how they'll behave, and sometimes I just can't picture how a character would react to a particular event or line of dialogue.

But generally Zoro isn't too bad. (Also Travis, because he's my character, though that still doesn't mean I know how he'll respond to things all the time, unfortunately.) Hardest is probably Flirty!Sanji and Franky. I've never tried writing from Franky's point of view, but he's hard enough from someone else's that I'm not eager to try. Chopper and Robin aren't too bad from someone else's POV, but I think I might have trouble writing from theirs. And Luffy can be difficult occasionally, depending on the situation. (Also Sven is hard, even though he’s my character.)

7: hardest/easiest verse to write for?

Well, I only have one at the moment, so… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Though once I actually start writing some of my other ideas, I have a feeling Mistyverse will still be the easiest, just because I've been working in it for so long.

8: (if you have either or both) how do you manage time with writing, work, school etc.?

Very badly. ^^;; I'm terrible at time management.

9: what tv shows, books, or movies inspire for this verse, if any?

Story-wise, I can't think of anything specific (there may have been and I've just forgotten, but). Character-wise, Archer from Fate/Stay Night and Furuya Rei/Amuro Tōru/Bourbon from Detective Conan were a big influence when I was developing Travis.

10: any writing advice?

I don't feel confident enough to give advice to other people, haha.

11: (if you use) what do you like about archiveofourown?

The tag system. It can be very helpful in finding a certain subject or giving me a better idea of what the fic is about. Also the "mark for later" option. And the ability to have a series. It makes it much easier not to miss things when there are multiple fics in a story. And I like that the author isn't sent a notice when someone subscribes/can’t see the names of people who have subscribed. I feel much less awkward about subscribing to fics that are years old or about a very guilty pleasure. :P

12: anything you would do to make archiveofourown different/change it?

I…kind of have a list…

– Add a way to sort subscriptions by fandom! Sometimes I want to reread fic for a particular series and if I don't remember the title(s), going through multiple pages of fics and opening them one by one is such a pain.

– Give us a way to mark main vs. minor characters and relationships in fics. It's really annoying searching for fics about a certain character or pairing and getting dozens of fics that focus on someone/thing else entirely, with whatever you were looking for getting maybe a couple of scenes in the background. I've seen authors try to tag things to indicate this themselves, but most (including me ^^; ) don't do it, and in any case, I'd like an actual option I can mark in a search.

– It'd be cool to be able to put spoiler warnings on tags. Click to view, highlight, something.

– Filter IDs are very helpful, but it would be so much easier if we could just click a button to exclude things like explicit fics, “multi” fics (I’m so tired of being overrun with smutty “multi” fics when I search for “gen” without a filter), NOTPs, fandoms I don’t like…and so on.

– Being able to choose whether or not crossovers are included in the search results. I like a good crossover, but sometimes I just want fics for the one series.

– Don’t have author replies count under total number of comments. Also a PM system would be nice.

(If any of this is possible and it’s just that I don’t know about it, someone please tell me. X’D)

I find it hard to put things like this into words (and I don't want to give spoilers), so…I'm going to pass on this as well. ^^;

I'm glad you didn't ask for any because usually I love giving spoilers but we're far enough into the story now that most things I could say are Big Spoilers for the climax/ending that I really don't want to give away ahead of time. So thanks for not tempting me. XD

16: do you ever hand write? why or why not?

Once in a long while, if I think of a line I don't want to forget after I've turned my computer off, I'll jot it down on a notepad so I'll remember it the next day. Otherwise, no. My handwriting is slow as molasses and makes my hand tired. ^^;

17: do you listen to music while you write?

Almost always. 8D Just instrumentals, though.

18: any fanmixes you’ve made for this fic/verse?

Not really, no. I have a playlist I use when I'm writing scenes with Travis, and I'm working on one for fight scenes in general, but that's the closest I've got.

19: any edits or art you’ve made for this fic/verse/any edits readers have made? if not, what visuals would you use for one?

All the art I've posted for Mistyverse is here (If I get any fanart in the future, that's where it will be, too). I have quite a bit of art I haven't posted, mostly of Travis or unfinished attempts to draw specific scenes (I have an attempted map of the island in OtMS that I'm too embarrassed to look at again X'D).

20: what songs were you listening to during this scene/chapter?Mostly I just shuffle my giant instrumental playlist. Or if I'm in the mood for something new, I go looking on YouTube or similar places for writing playlists. As far as music for specific scenes/chapters, I think I pretty much covered that in question 13 here.

22: favorite line/quote/inner monologue from this character?

Zoro… At the moment, probably:

Zoro's heart had nearly stopped when he'd seen those hands. Or it would have, if he'd still had one.

23: feelings on epistolary fic?

It can be interesting. c: I like it best when letters/diary entries/whatever are mixed with more traditional narrative, but they can make for a fun story.

24: do you outline?

Yep! Not super-detailed outlines, usually, but I prefer having some sense of where things are going.

25: if you outline, do you edit it frequently?

Not that often, no. I don't think I've even looked at the outline for FMaA in a while, actually, because things got very vague toward the end, outside of a few specifics, and I have most of the necessary info in my head at this point.

I think this is supposed to be "that you're worried readers might not like". Because otherwise…why would someone liking my stuff make me worried? Barring creepy stalkers and the like. Assuming it's "not"…

Ohhh yeah. I might hide under the covers for about a week when I post those parts… X’D

27: when you read fic, how often do you comment?

Not…very often. ;;OTL I know how much comments mean to writers, especially now that I've had firsthand experience, but I still find it a difficult thing to do. And lately, when I do comment, more often than not I do it anonymously, even if all I have to say is praise. It's just more comfortable for me that way. If I leave a signed in comment, it usually means I really liked the fic.

28: any scene/line you wrote that you didn’t expect to write/that surprised you once it was written?

Uhh…first thing that comes to mind is when they were at the museum and got roped into playing themselves. I had planned for their disguises to be seen through and for it to be assumed that they were cosplaying, but the rest of it just sort of happened. Including Maya; I knew she was going to be in the story, but I didn’t know she was going to be on that island or working at the museum until she showed up in the fruit room. X’D I don’t even remember how I was originally going to introduce her, except that it was going to be a lot closer to the end.

29: do you eat or drink anything while you write?

Not while I'm writing, but I like to have a drink and sometimes a snack before I start. Most often chai. It helps me get in the mood.

32: what are your stats for this story/verse?

Is…this supposed to mean, like…number of kudos/comments/hits. etc? If it means something else, someone tell me and I'll adjust my answer. :P

Ah…hmm. I haven't actually written any one-shots as in "self-contained, stand-alone story" yet (I have plans!). Out of the one-shot extras that I wrote for Mistyverse…maybe Proof? It was the most self-indulgent of the three and the most fun to write.

34: a scene/paragraph you wrote that you’re proud of

I'm pretty happy with most of the stuff in chapters 18 and 19…and the scene in 16 where Zoro reveals himself…and Zoro and Travis’s fight in the museum in 15…and probably more that I’m not thinking of, but I’m not going to reread the whole thing again right now. :P

35: any foreshadowing/symbolism you wrote that you hope readers didn’t miss?

Yes, but at the same time I hope most people don't put the pieces together until things get revealed later.

I guess maybe the stuff with Zoro and Chidori in 17? Kind of?

Nope, I don't.

Yes, I love titling chapters. Even when I can't think of anything good. Favorite chapter title is definitely Law and Order. Because it has a double meaning/pun (the structure and rules of Whitestone + Law showing up at the end).

39: any alternate fic titles you were considering for this verse?

I had a couple others I was playing with, at least for FMaA, but who knows what they were? Not me. XD

40: chapter you’re most proud of in this verse?

At the moment, I'd say it's a tossup between 15, 16, 18, and 19.

41: chapter that was the most fun to write in this verse?

Hmm. 12 was the easiest, and it's always fun when I'm not struggling with a chapter. The whole arc on Crinia (chapters 13 – 15) was pretty fun, even when it got difficult. 18 – 19, too. And I felt like chapter 20 was crap while I was writing it, but it was silly fun, and it doesn't seem as terrible when I reread it now.

44: have you shared your outline with anyone? if so, what did they think of it?

The outline itself, no. Parts of it are pretty different from what I actually ended up writing; it might be fun to share some of it sometime. c:

*ignores the "ship" part* Hmm…I have no idea if I'll ever actually write it, but in my list of ideas for FMaA bonus scenes I have one where Zoro cooks for everyone (just because he can't eat anymore doesn't mean he can't cook—he lived on that island by himself for a long time before he died, after all). Also (for the benefit of anyone else reading this), sircerenade and I have discussed Brook and Zoro bonding over stuff before (being "grandpa figures", sharing skull/ghost jokes, etc.). Some of it may be more bittersweet than happy, but it’s a cute bittersweet, so.

1. Is there any scene that you've ever written that's actually scared you?

No because in my writing, I'm the god of my world. I know all. Sometimes however, my scenes are ejust generally creepy and instill fear but they don't scare ME.

2. What genre are you generally uncomfortable writing?

I hate realistic fiction. I already have to deal with real life. I just think it's boring. I niether read nor write it.

3. How many different types of writing do you write? Example: novels, short stories, poetry, etc...

I write novels, songs, comics and plays. The plays and comics are usually collaborations.

4. How old were you when you started writing?

I started taking writing seriously in 5th grade. Ever since then, I've been writing and watching writing videos and tips, reading, analyzing other authors and their styles. I wrote my first official book in 7th grade. (Of course it remains hidden in the Chambers of my Google docs lol.)

5. How confident are you in your writing?

I know that I can always be better than what I am, but I'm actually really confident about my writing. It's really improved through the last 5 years, and I just really proud of it.

6. Have you ever written/ posted anything that was very personal to you?

Not really, nothing that wasn't just a rant. All of most of my writing was just fantasy/ sci-fi and action.

7. What inspired you to start writing?

I can't remember. I could say something really heartwarming, but really I think it was just the fact, that the things I wanted to read didn't exist.

8. Which of your OCs do you relate to the most?

The OC I relate to the most is...I think Veronica. I try a lot to be tougher than I actually am, and I'm really assertive. I'm trying to open up more though. 😁

9. Do you have any self insert fan fiction?

Sadly yes. It was a collaboration between my former best friend and I over both a TMNT thing and a LOTR thing, both of us were big fans and we wrote it together...well I did all the writing, she just helped me with ideas.

10. What's your favorite piece you've ever written about?

Definitely my manuscript right now. I love it. I'm most proud of my characters and I believe in it.

11. How frequently do you actually sit down and write?

Well I have a lot to juggle, school, and theatre really takes a lot out of me. I usually try to make time at the worst times, like during class itself. But there are also times when I sit down during the weekends and force myself to get things done.

12. How many hours at a time do you do research for your writing?

I'm always doing something while supposedly writing. One of these things is researching. I spend around a good half hour intervals on research, and most of it is fighting related or medical. But usually I leave concepts to the readers imagination, like a surgery scene where it was mostly focused on the emotions rather than the procedure.

13. Do you like to branch out in your writing or do you tend to stick with what you know?

I like to branch out for the most part, but most of my writing has to do with sci-fi or magic. Even if it's supposed to be a historical fiction or a realistic, I will always find some way to incorporate magic into the story, or sci-fi.

14. What would the antagonist of your current WIP have to say to you if they meet you in person?

Well, he's a very successful biochemist, with great power in politics. He probably wouldn't see the need to talk to me. But if he did he would ask why I made him bad, if he's only trying to fix things.

15. Do you think of yourself as your OC's god or just their guiding hand?

Well I'm a Christian, but the closest way I connect to my God is by making parallels to him being an author, and considering I created the characters and the world, maybe, but it's just too broad a statement.

16. What do you think you'd be doing with your time if you hadn't have gotten into writing?

Damn. What do other people even do? Maybe just...read more? Probably focus more on art and movies, but it was all those things that ultimately lead to me being a writer.

17. Have you ever written a smut piece?

Haha...yes. WHAT!? IT WAS HIGHLY REQUESTED STOP JUDGING.

18. What was the first thing you ever wrote about?

Ok I actually have a story for this. So first of all, understand, smol Ashton used to draw a collection of animals that for some reason would all be friends. These animals would always include, a horse, a dog, and a bird. Then I would draw the female versions of them. I can barely even remember this, but I remember it was a romance between the two horses and the side characters would also eventually fall in love too. Anyway, that is literally the first story I ever remember writing.

19. What's the most creative creature you've ever created for world building?

Hmm, this is hard, because I have two fanfictions AND that one book I wrote in 7th grade. In the Avatar TLA I created an entire new race that could shapeshift and they came with their own religions and lore and shit. And yeah. That's all I'm saying for now.

20. Tell us one random fact about your WIP that you have yet to tell your fans?

Uhhh, there is a fight club scene with my boys.

1. Is there any scene from any piece you’ve written that actually scared you? If so, describe the scene.

Nope, not yet. I don’t get scared by stuff I know is coming generally, especially if it came out of my own head.

2. What genre do you feel most awkward writing?

Probably drama, like realistic fiction. Like those sappy movies. I can’t stand those, so I doubt I’d be able to write it. You would think I’d also hate romance in general, including romantic comedy but actually I find it quite fun. I just hate realistic fiction with lots of drama.

3. How many different types of writing do you write? Types of writing include novels, short stories, poetry, song lyrics, etc.

Novels are my main focus. Well novels and novellas. I do a bit of short story writing too. I also write a bit of poetry, but it’s no good. I can’t for the life of me write songs or simply song lyrics. I have, in the past, dabbled in script writing and, because of my love for movies and musicals, I would love to return to that when I have more time.

4. How old were you when you started writing?

Haha would you believe it if I said it was the number for this question? No seriously I was like four. I started writing my name at a very young age and after that it developed into very short, but incomprehensible stories, with help from my mom.

5. How confident are you in your writing?

It varies from day to day. Sometimes I just utterly hate myself and my writing and other days I feel like I am the next big thing. As of late it’s almost entirely the former.

6. Have you ever written and posted anything that was very personal to you?

I wrote an autobiography about my life struggles (yeah I’m seventeen, but I’ve gone through some stuff) on a writing app when I was fourteen. That was personal. Deals with happy things like a certain family member of mine going to jail, among other things. Things are a lot better now, don’t worry.

7. What inspired you to start writing?

My parents told me stories all the time growing up. Those inspired me to be creative. I got serious about being a writer when I read the Harry Potter series if fifth grade, although I was already really interested in it. I finished the Deathly Hallows and said “That’s it. That’s what I want to do.”

8. Which of your OCs do you relate to the most?

Luna or Jackson, the two most important characters. She’s the talkative, hyperactive magician always up for a fight and he’s sarcastic, narrates his own life, and never knows what’s going on. I don’t know about you, but I relate to that.

9. Have you ever written self insert fan fiction?

…Yes. For both Harry Potter and Gravity Falls. Oh and Fairy Tail.

10. What’s your favorite piece you’ve ever written about?

Completed works: Gold (check it out on Wattpad; my username is NaLulikeJolly)

Uncompleted works: I am hopelessly in love with my WIP The Guardian Of Magic. And I love the short story I wrote that takes place at the end of the trilogy. I can’t say anything about it though, cause obvious spoilers.

11. How frequently do you actually sit down and write?

Daily. Well not of late. I’ve taken a break for the last three days, cause some major block. But besides the last couple days of abnormalities I write 500 words a day.

12. How many hours at a time do you do research on your writing?

I don’t usually do hours of research in one sitting. I find what I need to write and move on. I don’t understand over what period of time this question is asking.

13. Do you like to branch out in your writing or do you tend to stick to what you know?

I used to branch out a lot. I was writing a romantic comedy, a fairytale with a twist, a screenplay, a superhero fic, and a zombie apocalypse story at the same time. I mostly stay with some sort of fantasy now, but I still like exploring other options. My WIP that is not The Guardian Of Magic is a dystopian without any magic.

14. What would the antagonist of your current WIP say to you if they saw you in person?

She probably wouldn’t have any reason to talk to me. She’s a boss rich politician with magic powers, looking to recruit other people with powers, or at least skills, to destroy other magicians. I am not rich or having of magic powers, nor am I stupid enough to insult her to her face. She would have no reason to talk to me, but if she did she would probably just call me an idiot in a more sophisticated way. Halfway through. If you actually read my answers the password is zirel.

15. Do you consider yourself your OC’s God or just kind of a guiding hand (or other? If other, please list)?

As a Christian I hate to admit it, but I think of it as the universe I created as I manipulated them. So you know, the former, but it makes me uncomfortable to say it.

16. What do you think you’d be doing with your time if you’d never gotten into writing?

I honestly can’t imagine not being a writer. It’s how I define myself. Nothing else compares. But I guess I’d be even more into art and I’d probably be more serious about animating and directing. Oh and cryptid hunting.

17. Have you ever written a smut piece?

Haha no. I have never read a smut I found interesting. They bore me so much. I’d never be able to write that.

18. What was the first thing you ever wrote about?

I wrote a book about my brother as a superhero called Action Ethan. I still have it’s much better (but still crap) sequel called Action Ethan and Ninja Noah.

19. What’s the most creative creature you’ve ever created for world building?

I have a creature that is an angler fish, vampire bat, and spider. I’m still working on it and it doesn’t have a name yet, but it’s the only creature that I made up, rather than just using a cryptid.

20. Tell me one random fact about your WIP that you have yet to tell your followers.

It takes place in New Jersey and I’m currently at about 60,000 words.

THE TRUTH YBOUT BON JOVI I once used to be the greatest Bon Jovi Fan. For almost 10 years. But somehow then everything broke down. Now I just hate that guy. I am not a usual hater. I have my good reasons, understand it or not. I had that pretty picture of Bon Jovi, but unfortunately i figured out that that´s not true at all. When you only know the official stuff everything seems so perfect. But when you consider it deeper... His whole image is just a FAKE. Jon Bon Jovi is just a BIG FAT LIE! It´s said everywhere that he never has scandals and that he is sooo faithful and a great husband. He has such a good and clean image. He seems like a very good paragon. But in fact he is not. Not at all! He only seems like a good paragon. He is a hypocrite! I got to know stuff, believe me! I have safe insider sources! He only claims he doesn't like the typical Rockstar lifestyle at all and he always seems to be very clean. BUT, when you take a deeper look, you can find out what he is really like. He is the typical cliché Rocker! He even gives many hints in Interviews (like when he say's he's praying for last night's sins, or when he appears in shows like Howard Stern), and also Songlyrics like Dirty little secret or I'm your man. If you really pay attention this is even very obviously. He seems to have some kind of "opened marriage". He's got a "misteress" in LA, he always visits when he's in town. He said that a blowjob is no sex to him and he gets it really often when he is on tour. The people he hooks up with usually accept a contract to not make anything puplic. He still uses to go to Stripclubs frequently and his wife knows about everything. They might have some kind of "deal" there. He is not that innocent at all! Believe it or not. He has the money to keep up his shiny fake image. He is not what he seems to be! Eg. he acted in Ally McBeal just to have sex with the main actress. It didn't want to happen though. Rumor has it also, that he dated a swedish Model in 2005. Bon Jovi seems to have a good deal with the press that they don't write anything too private. He also said that he has a wonderful thing going on with the Paparazzi. He has the money too keep his private life private. He even says there are some things that he will take to his grave. And he doesn't wear underwear (at least in 80s time) and his wedding ring on stage. What a stupid pervert asshole! He wants to own a sportsteam very bad. He is very intrested in this and he is supporting much of it. He even pushes his children to get into this as well. In 2013 he tried to buy some NFL Team but he failed. Many haters started burning his CDs. I can understand that. Why can´t he just be a musican and keep out of that fuck?! He also wants to go into the politics. This makes me so aggressive! And I am going to prophesy you, that he defenately WILL buy such a team in the future. There´s no doubt about it! His music,- more and more of it is just STOLEN! E.g.: Saturday night gave me sunday morning. It is 1:1 copied from Nickelbacks Gotta be somebody! Water made me is stolen from David Bowie, Fingerprints by the Eagles… there are so many more. I could make an endless list. … He always pretents to be so good and nice, but behind his treacherous fassade he is such a big liar! He started making music because he wanted to "pick up some chicks". He is more about girls than the music. Today, he only still makes his music because of the money! And that´s not even a secret. He has a bee farm so that he does not even have to pay his fucking taxes. He is a controllfreak and wants to be the boss of everything. He doesn't answer to some questions in interviews, if an interviewer asks a not wanted question, he's about to end the interview. He hates interviews and is a very different person with them. He is often unfriendly to reporters because of that. The Album Burning Bridges was only a fullfillment to the Recordlabel. The label did not gave him all the money he wanted. He recorded a angry hate Song against the label and wanted to leave. The other songs on the album are older songs he did not like, but also not throw away. But he said he thinks these songs are so bad, he wants to burn it. Paradoxly, he described THIS Album as a "Fan record." The Album that he only made for fullfillments and because of money. Embarrassingly for him, a year later he crawled back to his old label. He seems to have a very splitted character, as the ones who watch interviews may have noticed. For example: He says he doesn't want to sing cheesy tounge in cheak songs anymore, but he does exactly that. (Labor of love) He says he doesn't want to be a nostalgia act, but on his shows he plays only the greatest hits and not much from the new Album the tour is about. He pretents to be anti bullying, but he was the one who started a fist fight with 60 other people against one single person in 89. Today he says A, tomorrow he says B. Maybe he tries to make it right for everyone, or maybe he is just an undecided person. And he is very selfloving. He really claimed that the kind of music he makes was not there before him. And he does lie so often, even though most of all it´s about small things, like he claims he never dyed his hair, or he never had a plastic surgery... What about his teeth, huh??! And he colored his hair for years. + he doesn't like cats AND dogs. It seems like he doesn't like animals very much in general and he wears very often snakeleather and so on. This makes me really hate him. Jovi still makes music because he thinks he has to do it because its his Job! He is touring because of the money only. He wants more and more. He is a businessman, nothing else. He makes his music just to sell it. He knows how to keep up a good, clean image that makes people love him. He is good in marketing himself. But the real man behind this shiny pretty fassade is a totally different guy! There have also been so many broken promises. Like when he says the new Album would be a big rock record. No it´s not! And he also promised Videos, or other things, that never happened. He changes his mind like a girl changes her clothes. You can never believe what he says. Most of his fans are dumb old whomen drooling over his look. This is so terrible. I never was friend with those people. They always hate around and attack each other. I never had a chance. There are so many bad memories. I´ve been through so many fights and doubts. I can´t stand them all! Bon Jovi is so fake, the whole image is a fake! He´s are not at all what he pretends to be. He is more than the cliche of a rocker! He is lying and lying all over! He dont even regrets it. I used to be a big fan, i really loved him once, but then i realized who he really is. I fucking hate it now! This is so wrong! This shiny pretty picture,- all a lie! I AM SO DISAPPOINTED! Fucking stupid Rocker who only takes the piss out of his idiotic drooling fans. Dear Jon Bon Jovi: You dont deserve all the fame, success, love, luck and the bitches you fuck. I know about your secret behaviors and why you do what you do. Please stop it! I always hoped you changed but you´ll never do. You make me so sick! motherfucking asshole, and I thought you were better. You broke me, assrocker!! The reason why I made this channel is to upload only one video, and my text here. Because I want the world to know what´s so wrong with Bon Jovi! I burn my Fan stuff to finally let it all go. I´ve had so much pain because of this. I had so many doubts and i suffered. Yeah, I AM ANGRY, ANNOYED, FRUSTRATED and SO ENDLESSLY DISAPPOINTED! Everything that I ever liked about BJ was a big lie! Everything I never wanted is true. I had to let my frustration out. Yeah, i am a psycho. And i am a wreck. He destroyed and disturbed me in the deepest way. I´m insane, i know. So, how are you? Is there anything wrong? I'm okay. I had a terrific 6-day break that I spent running errands and having an extremely productive Wrestlemania marathon, but this Sunday evening I'm winding things down with surveys so I can be relaxed and calm for when I come back to work tomorrow.

How do you handle awkward situations? It definitely depends on the situation, but a safe go-to is to just use my phone and pretend to look occupied.

I fantasized running away and cutting off my family, having tattoo sleeves, and was still busy being the problem child/black sheep of the family.
