Fox demons- they do get around don't they? In this 10 minute per episode drama, we learn that a fox demon has managed the ultimate promotion- to emperor. Did he do it for the power? The glory? The sweet wardrobe? Or did he do it so he could scour the country for the mysterious woman in a painting he's obsessed with? I won't keep you in suspense, it's that last one!

Fox Demon, Emperor, this year's winner of the Scorpion King Excellence in Eyeliner Award: Bo Qiu.

But let's start this tale from the beginning:

We begin by meeting our female lead Su Xiao Huan, who is grifting a group of townsfolk by first spinning outrageous tales of the dastardly doings of the fox demon emperor and then claiming that she can eliminate him (for a fee).

5 minutes later...

The townspeople see through her scam and leave in disgust. But handsome newcomer Lord Qiansui (and his personal assistant and/or assassin-on-call) is delighted to have found an old friend, even if she doesn't recognize him.

Su Xiao Huan is happy to leave with him, but less than happy to hear about his plan to entrap the fox demon.

He wants to send her to the palace to serve him- not like a servant or even in a creepy concubine way- more like in a To Serve Man way. Yes, he wants to offer her up as a snack. Su Xiao Huan has bitten off more than she can chew and finds herself entering the palace.

Once there, she meets Bo Qiu, the Fox Demon Emperor. Bo Qui realizes Su Xiao Huan is the woman from the painting, but she doesn't remember him at all.

Su Xiao Huan, for her part, is more concerned with not being consumed.

Threats like this will become a wellspring of flirtation in subsequent episodes (example below)

Finally we get what I thought was going to be a montage of their shared past, but just turned out to be the ending theme because these episodes are short! (I do think some of these scenes are flashbacks though)

When there was only one set of footprints, it was the fox demon emperor lugging your ass through the snowy landscape while the outro music played.

The Good

I love the low cut, slightly slutty way Bo Qiu is wearing his robes

Su Xiao Huan has a cute pet hedgehog

The Bad

you can't fuel a drama on hotness alone (but you can coast on the fumes of hotness until you reach the gas station of a better drama)

the hedgewiggle exhibits more acting ability than some of the cast

Hedgehog seen here giving us classic second male lead syndrome.

Final Thoughts

Imma keep watching it.

The Starry Love-ending was... but it was nice till then.

Warm on a Cold Night-I need them in another drama together. Hopefully Modern.

Taste of Love-this was so bad

My Little Happiness-rewatch

Definitely Not Today-so underrated. It's only 8 episodes but it's a very important story.

The Lady in the Butchers House- she was abusive

Delicious Romance-absolutely hated this

Royal Rumors-pretty but very boring

The Love You Give Me-meh

Rewriting Destiny- this deserves so much. I know it's low budget but I actually really enjoyed this drama so much. He needs bigger roles.

Here We Meet Again- boring most of the time and long winded but very pretty because that's the only roles this man does

Romance on the Farm-as yall know I have a love hate. I LOVE them so much. But that ending SUCKED. The romance was sprinkled so don't expect so much. It was a family drama with lots of redemption that wasn't deserved. I watched for these two.

Wrong Carriage Right Groom-kind of boring but at the same time I enjoyed them? Just wish they went a more mature route.

Forever Love- OKAY HEAR ME OUT. It's a mini drama. It's bad but it's good and I know yall know wtf I mean.

Hello I'm At Your Service-He picks "mature" romances and I appreciate that.

Promise in the Summer-HEAR ME OUT AGAIN, ya'll cannot expect perfection out of mini dramas. This was just fun and I admit that. Their height difference>>> the comfort scene>>> Just a good time.

Parallel Worlds-chem was there. A bit rushed in some aspects, but if they would have cut this drama DOWN some episodes it would have benefited the other points of the story. Good fantasy though like very interesting world.

You Are Desire-he is soooo good looking and she fits him well. But the career choice for him and the storyline following was such a snooooze.

Hidden Love-controversial drama but I SWEAR you watch episode 1 and then skip like 4 episodes and its smooth sailing. It's not creepy but they have a girl playing her younger self that looks way too young and she's not THAT much younger so it made it seem weird. This was a VERY well done drama.

A Date With the Future-Long and boring.

The Furthest Distance-very beautiful and I love Leo but the pacing is weird to me and the ex is annoying.

Dine with Love-a horrible Male lead. Like he's the worst. But you root for them. idk. Makes you hungry

My Everlasting Bride-mini drama with a mini budget as ya'll know. I had a good time for the two hours. Yes it was absolutely ridiculous. He was so fine.

My Decoy Bride-I mean. They were pretty. Another mini.

The Snow Moon-another mini. It's tragic. And I actually enjoyed for the most part and thought because it's mini that it would end differently. NOPE.

The inextricable Destiny- they do everything in THEIR POWER to make you hate this drama. There were so many points where they could've done better and didnt. I hate that. Don't waste your time.

Fireworks of my Heart-Unpop opinion but he makes incredibly boring dramas. Female lead has NO backbone. And he promises he wont go back but does.

Watching Ep 7 of The Snow Moon with Zuo Ye and the SML is putting on a show in front of the FL, being all caring nobleman, giving the common people his personal rice stock and the cloak off his own body, and I just can't take it seriously, because 1) i know it's a show to get her sympathy so she'd side with him against the Fox Demon Emperor ML and 2) i'm not here for you SML, I'm here for Zuo Ye the Fox Demon Emperor.

really looking forward to the snow moon which has our precious elder yue, zuo ye, as the ml! idk what's going tho since i saw that it was supposed to premier on 7th september and yet it's not here yet? i'm hoping that it's only delayed and not canceled...

anyway, i watched the trailers and i gotta say that i'm keeping my expectation very, very low for the fl bcs she seems to be the type of character that...may be endearing to some people and irritating to others.
