World Building Wednesday!~ Etherium

🌼 I decided to share one of my AU worlds that is not Fell based. Yes... I know... what is the world coming to? Etherium in essence is my stab at an Outertale based universe though the story and the designs are very different. I really enjoy this one though I don’t talk about it too much. Let’s get started!

Etherium AU

Classification: Outertale Alternate “Nicknames” Info:

Sans: Nova- Nova is the trickster though he is mostly associated with that of Loki. Loki is described specifically as “Playful, malicious ( ok maybe not that one), helpful, and nihilistic.” He helps others in a kind of goofy over the top way. He just doesn’t take much seriously. Nova is one of the youngest. He acts very childish at times coming to question how long he has been among the pantheon. Some argue his many centuries gave him a nihilistic outlook on life or that he is too young to understand the true ways of the world.

Not to say that Nova can’t be serious but he is pretty laid back. It’s one of the reasons unlike the others he doesn’t really keep his cultural ties in his design. He should have more Norse in it but nah… varsity jackets are cozy right? I mean he is wearing star shorts for stars sake. When asked about his job he mentions, “Hey, there kiddo. Nice of ya to drop by. Been up to? Heh well got a “new” job which is pretty cool. Not as cool as Pollux but I help arrange stars. Ya know, like the ones you see in the sky you can make pictures out of? I think you humans call em… constellations. One time I made this giant whoopee cushion one. “Then I lost ma job. Got a second chance though. Andromeda's constantly watchin me. hehe no harm done though.” Both Pollux and Nova refer to each other as brothers but it is unclear if they are biologically related. Their abilities and strengths are nearly opposite and their mythos even more so.

Papyrus: Pollux- The presumed older brother of Nova. Pollux is associated with Egyptology specifically wisdom. Pollux tends to be the opposite of Nova in that he takes his job very seriously. Once on earth he was known as Thoth gracing humanity with a mechanical and architectural knowledge that astounded the world. His mind and intellect put him at the forefront of innovation making him one of Capricorn's best and most trusted advisors.

He enjoys testing the mental prowess of others using puzzles and riddles of his own design. Unlike canon Pap Pollux cares more about balance in life. Something his younger brother seems to lack. Not all work and not all play. He is kind, helpful, and willing to give advice to anyone that is looking for it. To the little human Frisk he is a good mentor and teacher. (Pollux has made it his pastime to create a series of challenges to prove a humans worth. If they pass then they are able to speak/ see them. No one has managed to prove themselves.)

Undyne: Andromeda- Andromeda is not different from canon Undyne as she embodies the Mayan mythology. She is mostly closely associated with the feathered serpent Quetzalcóatl. A deity of wind and rain. Also known as the life giver. Though Andromeda tends to harken back to her more aggressive roots she has a deep respect for the King and acts as his guard. Just like Pollux she too acts as an advisor, though more on matters of security than strategy or mechanics. Such a position is where she first met Elara and to this day the two are inseparable sharing their very different cultures. Her favorite kind of anime to watch are mech based.

Alphys: Elara- Very similar to canon Alphys just as this version of Undyne is. Alphys is based off of Sukuna-Biko-Na (少名毘古那) or the shinto god of medicine and rain. Elara is still very much a scientist and one that has a unique fascination with living things. Everything from the planets, to humans, animals, and plant life. She particularly enjoys spending time in her private greenhouse creating and taking care of all of the plant life. Before the monsters were forced to leave their place among the humans she was able to collect all the DNA of the plants and animals on the planet.

They are stored in a kind of ark in which to preserve them if anything threatens their existence. Elara is very traditional in her work as her medicines are derived from her magic as well as herbal substances. She is very curious however as she is not allowed to interact with the progress of humanity but rather watches from afar. This is where her love of anime takes hold. Her favorites are ones like Sailor Moon or any type of magical girl anime. She will sit with Andromeda and watch them for hours. Her demeanor is very shy at first but once she opens up she will be a friend for life.

Asgore: Capricorn- The head of the cosmic pantheon he is the King as he is in the original. He is associated with Celtic mythos though he has taken on many pantheon roles in his lifetime. Ambisagrus, a god of thunder and lightning, Ancestor God, Sky God, God of Wind, Rain & Hail is what he is based off of. One such role is that of Zeus who’s main symbol is that of lightning and thunder. Just like the Zeus of mythology Capricorn is constantly debating his involvement with humanity.

Whether that be to stop their technological advances or aiding in their lives. A large portion of his time was spent with his subjects not so much his wife Aurora who is the jealous type. Capricorn is not a ruthless leader but he does know that sometimes hard decisions must be made. Just like UT Asgore he is kind and benevolent, however, he has a temper if you make him angry enough. His magical abilities lean more toward lighting then fire but he has that ability as well. He tasked Elara to watch over human development should a problem arise.

Toriel: Aurora- The Queen to Capricorn she is known to be easily jealous. It would explain why Zeus wife Hera also shares these traits. Her Gaelic deity tie is that of Arianrhod a goddess of the moon and stars. She creates life from the stars she creates sometimes causing them to take a form of their own. They are almost like living constellations. Some say that the Queen made such life to combat her own loneliness which her Son and Husband spent time away. In addition to the stars she is also known for being a loving mother and caregiver. In her time on earth she used to watch over and protect children and their families. Aurora though previously jealous of her simple in the universe has come to accept and embrace it. She is kind but rather over protective. Anyone that forsakes life will feel her wrath.

Muffet: Umbra- Umbra is associated with Hindu mythology as a goddess of wealth and prosperity. Though earthly riches do not concern Umbra she still has a taste for the fine silks and gold that she once had on earth. A little about the goddess that she represents: Lakshmi's name comes from the Sanskrit word laksya, meaning an aim or goal. She is the goddess of wealth and prosperity, both material and spiritual. Unlike UT Muffet, Umbra also focuses on a spiritual wealth. A peace of mind.

She is ever the optimist even when things do not turn out to go her way. In times of need she is called those in the struggles of self worth trying to bring them into a different understanding. There have been many a time when Umbra calms Capricorns quick and rash judgements, much to Auroras displeasure. Just as with the rest of the pantheon she is kind and helpful even with her yearning to return to the people she so loved before they were forced to the outskirts of the galaxy.

Grillby: Helio- Helio derived from sun is my OT Grillby. He out of all the characters could care less about either being a deity or an observer. He is known to be at a middle ground. He would rather live his days running a social establishment but during his time on earth he was known for his magic. Originally he was the right hand of Capricorn being depicted as a war deity for his fiery nature. He was the general of grand armies. His armor is something he hung up long ago but if called into court he will wear it once again. It’s design is very reminiscent of Roman centurions.

Though depictions of him are curious since his name back then was referred to as Merlin. He was best known for him magic and alchemy and the concoctions he made during a period of time far lacking in imagination. Just like Nova, Helio, tended to interfere far too often in the affairs of man though noble in purpose. He tends to be outcast among the pantheon for his past conduct but he is content in his lab mixing crazy concoctions. Everything from love potions to disguises. His forte is all about alchemy and magic.

Asriel: Azicree (Azi)- Azicree or Azi for short is the Crown Prince. By monster standards Azi is still very young, however, he has lived for far longer than any human can fathom. His mother used to shelter him until he begged for his father to let him prove himself. He still acts like a child always curious and desiring some form of exploration. Much to Capricorns dismay Azi enjoys spending time with Nova and the two become pranksters in general. He tends to not do as he is told, which is why they are in this mess in the first place. His reckless behavior had him appearing to a human that begged for his salvation.

The matters of life and death are ones that are not to be messed with. Those that do find their souls being tainted for all eternity turning them into something other than just a monster. 9X is an example of such tampering. Azi does learn his lesson and begins to try and shape up to be a worthy successor to his father if such a thing ever did come to pass. He studies off of all those he knows especially Pollux who is more than happy to share such knowledge. His associations are non existent since he was born after the times of gods. His abilities seem to be mimic based.

He is able to learn about abilities and use them at will. It is rare that monsters have children and as such Azi is the little prodigy child even though there are many times he just wants to be a kid. He makes friends with Frisk very quickly and learn a lot from the human visitor.

Gaster: Nero is the Gaster of this universe. He is Capricorns pantheon counterpart. In essence the Hades to his Zeus. He is the monster that everyone thinks about when darkness takes hold. He is the one that associates with apocalyptic events such as ragnarok. He is however not evil by any stretch of the imagination. He would be better suited to be called a god of chaos. He tends to reject the laws placed upon the rest of the pantheon regardless of repercussions.

It’s speculated that both Pollux and Nova were a part of him and crafted into the monsters that are known today. Nova being his more devious side which Pollux is more his intellect and drive. He has been locked away for a very long time in a prison aptly named Tarturus. His abilities are space and time oriented very similar to Nova which makes him difficult to imprison. He of course has been in his cell for quite some time and it is unclear if he actually has had a change of heart or using it as a manipulation tactic.

The only one he speaks with on occasion is Azi wanting to learn more about this planet they all used to call home. It is information that the others tend to not speak of. His father more so as he is afraid it will instill a yearning in his son. Nero’s genius is on par with his godly abilities such as creating artificial intelligence. Something that is not considered life. He uses Azi as a template for this new program...

FLOWEY:

F- Friendly

L- Life-like

O- Operating system

W- With

E- Earthbound

Y- Yearning

F.L.O.W.E.Y was created by 9x and Nova with Azi as a template. He is a charismatic AI who was originally created as a helper as well as to teach the Prince about their planet of origin. Unfortunately Flowey does not have the same reservations about disobeying his father as Azi does. Even going so far as to integrate with key and vital systems in The Capital. He even manages to intercept a human vessel that he finds exploring. Flowey is not evil he just is driven to be the best help he can without regards to any type of consequences. He helps Frisk meet and learn more about their existence. He acts as a companion.

However when Frisk becomes friends with Azi Flowey's AI goes haywire. He begins to feel emotions he is not technically allowed to such as jealousy. This causes him to try and eliminate those threatening him which in this case would be all the monsters. Eventually Azi attempts to program himself into the interface changing it’s initial programming.

Character Origin/Mythos:

Background and Context:

A long time ago there lived beings of great power. They could bend space and time with a simple thought and bring life to their creations. These were the gods. Ones of great benevolence but also great and terrifying power. Humanity, a primitive race just starting to understand life itself, became their focus. At first their interaction was very rare only occasionally appearing to help but as time went on those interactions became more drastic. Their assistance and knowledge was seen as godlike to this humans.

They would bring gifts and offerings to their new deities in hopes that they would look favorably upon them. That they would impart their wisdom and magic if they were pleased. In time this became more and more tradition. A religion built upon pleasing these deities so that their lives would be far improved but this became a conundrum for the beings. Some remained benevolent and helpful while others becomes greedy and wrathful. The power began to go to their minds corrupting their souls. These instances were written down in variation by the humans making up grandiose stories of fiery chariots and jealous gods. Thus mythology came into being for humanity. A way to explain the things in which they did not understand.

As with each religion and deity the monsters each became associated with a specific culture or mythos. Some being pinnacles of their pantheon and others being lesser deities molded to suit a specific task. These monsters rarely interacted with ones of their own kind but as power shifted some of them took on roles of others. One monster could have been the god of war in Greek mythos but end up also as the god of thunder in Norse. There were no limitations to their influence. One such “deity” was that of the trickster. A monster that tended to be rather childish in his ambitions jumping from pantheon to pantheon looking to lighten up his other “deities” stern demeanors.

The monsters began to pull away leaving their presences in name only and occasional help but this was short lived. It caused problems, war, destruction, and feuding powers sadly began to use their civilizations as almost pawns. Their meddling almost destroyed that which they wanted to originally protect. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. The “gods” faded from existence only being remembered in myths and legends. The great prophecy of the Norse. The architectural marvels of the Egyptians. Now they reside in the furthest reaches of the galaxy. They spread out among the stars but a group of them resided in a Capital of sorts. A station at the edge of the Universe. One which no human could ever reach.

The Humans Impressions:

When the monsters left the humans to their own devices they worship continued long after. Eventually the magic and the miracles that had once been performed faded into history. The monsters were all but forgotten unless mentioned in mythology or scary stories. The humans never harbored any animosity toward them since they no longer believed in their existence in any form. They only understand what their ancestors depicted them as. The monsters as well don’t really have anything against humans either. All in all, they just go about their jobs and enjoy the universe, helping from time to time discreetly if need be but never showing their faces.

Main Plot Synop:

The plot to Outertale is very simple as it is more based around the world than it is the actual plot. It is very similar to that of the regular UT timeline with some notable differences. Once the humans reach an age of technological advancement they begin to spread out and search the stars. Some of them encounter monsters which they mistake for aliens (hilarious enough. I mean Jerry looks like an alien.) They begin to build colonies living more and more outside the reach of their own galaxy. Humans however tend to turn on their own creating factions within the space colonies. Some more prosperous than others.

Frisk’s colony was one such beast being cut off from the other colonies as a drifter. Unfortunately Frisk’s family was nearly non existent and being stuck on a space colony was little to be desired. After seeing a streak of fire slamming into the outskirts of the colony. Frisk decides to investigate. They have always been the curious type disobeying orders and questioning everything. The colonies outer and more dangerous regions became their playground finding old pieces of technology. Eventually they stumble upon a crashed ship. One that It seems to damaged to be used but it’s nothing like they have ever seen before. Everyone else on the colony consider it to be cursed.

The strange runic language is confusing but Frisk finds that there is one lone computer onboard that seems to still function. It flickers with a bright yellow light showing an almost pixelated Flower with a =) face on the screen. Over the next few days Frisk returns to decipher the runes with the help of their new friend which they find out is called Flowey. It is a project that the curious human enjoys and for once it is nice to have a friend. Eventually the runes are deciphered claiming some sort teleportation capability. Once Frisk is close enough the system fires up on its own sending the human straight to the monster Capital on the farthest reaches of the universe. A place that no human has ever been.

The rest of the story is an exploration of this new environment. Frisk befriends the monsters who don’t attack first. They actually mostly want to engage with the human showing off their ability a little bit. A part of them misses the previous worship. Nova seems to take a particular interest in this new human especially when they befriend Azi. They work to help shut Flowey down only for Azi to impart his knowledge on the interface helping it understand. Frisk has nothing to return to so they stay with the monster and become Azi’s human tutor so that one day maybe the monsters can return and live side by side the humans once again. Both Azi and Frisk are almost like siblings coined the star children.

Alphys Being Transgender Needs To Be Canon

(Spoilers For Chapter 2 in this, so don’t read if you haven’t beaten the game in the Pacifist Route)

if you look up the development of Alphys,

you will find out that she wasn’t originally a female character

and she was originally suppose to be male, but was changed into female.

I think that Undyne would still love Alphys and know she was just following her heart and soul and being true to herself.

so yeah I believe that both versions of Alphys in Undertale and Deltarune,

are technically Transgender and it should be made canon and be revealed in a future chapter of Deltarune.

also I want to mention I had a weird dream where I saw a lot of changelings from MLPFIM, but I think I said I wouldn’t be able to feed them.

guess it’s like me knowing I wouldn’t have enough love and I think I might of had thoughts before....

well if you think about it, the Changelings from MLPFIM might be technically

Fairy-Ponies, well maybe....we know there are other types of equine besides the earth-pony, unicorn and pegasi.

like the “Sirens” that Stygian met, could of been Kelpie who took the forms of Siren-Ponies corrupted forms.

and those Kelpie had corrupted the Sirens they had copied the forms of,

and they end up as their scapegoats and banished to the human world.

the negative magic energy is what transforms the Siren-Ponies into their corrupted forms.

so yeah I believe as soon as Stygian got back with help,

the Sirens were made the scapegoats for the Kelpies.

but anyway back to Alphys, I think it be a good idea that Alphys being a Transwoman is made canon.

and by the looks of Chapter 2, the canon of the ship between Undyne and Alphys is strong.

if it turns out that Susie doesn’t have parents, and it is just her and her unknown sister....and maybe other siblings.

then Undyne and Alphys can become Susie and her siblings new Moms.

well if Susie only has one sibling, then those two would just end up being the adoptive mothers of just Susie and her younger sister or older sister.

it be cute if Susie accidentally calls Alphys Mom in class.

Noelle might find it really sweet, Kris might well....

I think they might give a thumbs up.

and Berdly might go call “My Teacher Is Going To Be My Mother-In-Law” Panic.

I hope just like the whole Pie turning out to be canon, it turns out Susie will do that in the future.......I can only hope.

Susie finding a family in Undyne and Alphys is my O.T.F.F.

which stands for One True Family Found.

it be nice if Susie becoming Alphys’s adoptive daughter becomes canon in a future chapter, that would be awesome.

or if she already is, then maybe it will be revealed in the future.

oh and yes, Berdly having a crush on Susie is the spoiler....

of course he didn’t get the crush until he found out a bit about Susie being a Gamer, that being in Dark World.

and it is pretty obvious he still has a crush on her when they got back to the Light World....

I wouldn’t be surprise if Snowy and Berdly get into a fight in the future

because Snowy is bad mouthing Susie.

wouldn’t be surprised if that happen, I mean Berdly has fallen for Susie and even has made Yandere Noelle mad....

who would of thought that Yandere Noelle would be canon....O_O

well at least in the pacifist route she only choked him.

Susie is now in a Love Triangle....

and well it is possible Berdly wont get into a fight with Snowy, and will try to play off his feelings for Susie as just a crazy dream.

that is until he finds out in the real world she really does play video games.

Susie is still in a Love Triangle though....

I wouldn’t be surprised if she is going to have a Omni-Harem.

Omni-Harem is what I started to call those who have both males, female and even nonbinary who are in love with the main protagonist.

I have the DVD of the first season of my life as a villainess,

and well I can’t help but think of it as a Omni-Harem type.

it isn’t really a Reverse Harem, plus it just seems more of a Omni-Harem.

if there was a Anime I would love to get Alphys hooked on, it would be that one.

it is really good, well I think it is....

I also think I will need to clean my glasses, I will clean them after this post.

I hope that some of you can agree that Alphys being Transgender needs to be canon, cause she was originally going to be male but was changed to female.

and if it turns out it can’t be canon, I guess it can just be Fanon instead.

but here’s hoping just like the Pie and Yandere-Noelle, it turns out to be canon.

Noelle: Stop Calling Me Yandere!

Kris: Berdly is kissing a picture of Susie behind a dumpster.

Noelle: *turns around slowly to Kris with a very creepy smile*.....which dumpster....?

even if Noelle is sweet and can scare easy, it is best not to make her mad when it involves Susie.

but now that I think about it, I think the Love Triangle might be a Love Diamond.

because I think Catti (which I pronounce as Katie, so not to confuse with her older sister Catty’s name.)

might have a crush on Noelle, but it is just a theory.

but if it turns out that Catti does have a crush on Noelle,

and with Noelle having a crush on Susie, and Berdly having a crush on Susie.

the Love Triangle might really be a Love Diamond.

the way Catti talks about Noelle makes me think she might have secret feelings for her, and that is one of the reasons why she doesn’t like Susie.

I don’t think Alphys has feelings for King Fluffybuns in Deltarune.

I think their relationship might be 100% platonic and friend zoned.

it be funny if King Dice called Devil “Fluffybuns”

Best Day Ever If that happen.

and even if the rumors about Cuphead having a crush on King Dice were true.

it would be clear that King Dice wouldn’t return the feelings,

and it be one sided and only Semi-Canon.

then again it would just be rumors that might not even be true.

I heard about the crush thing over on Youtube.

plus if it turns out to be true, and Devil finds out,

we the fans would have to give Cuphead the advice to save his life....

“Run.”

even if Alphys might only have platonic feelings for Asgore in Deltarune.

she might still end up with Undyne, and it if turns out that Alphys is transgendered then I think that Undyne would still love her.

but there is a fact that it might not become canon or show in future chapters of Deltarune, the whole Alphys being transgender, not the whole Undyne x Alphys.

I think Chapter 2 has shown that there is hints of that ship in that game.

it would be interesting if you could play match maker and those who match will end up together at the end of the game.

like Susie with Berdly, and Noelle with Catti.

or Susie with Noelle, and Catti with Berdly.

it is clear that Alphys in Deltarune is different from the one from Undertale.

because the Alphys from Deltarune is a fan of Mew Mew Kissy Cutie 2.

which might not be a bad thing, from what we read in her review.

wouldn’t be surprised if those two Alphys met and they fight over which is better, and then a third Alphys says she likes both.

well even if I do like the Powerpuff Girls Reboot too, I can still find some problems with it and if it was allowed to continue maybe they could of fix it.

one of the parts I loved in that show, is the friendship between Blossom and Princess, and Bliss the Older Sister of Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup.

that show can be seen as taking place in a different timeline, where the girls are a few years older than their past selves and share the same past like their counterparts but their futures ending up differently.

PPGD is my number one favorite though, I mean I still love PPG

but Powerpuff Girls Doujinshi (or just Powerpuff Girls D)

was out way before Powerpuff Girls Z,

and it has been running way longer than the canon and semi-canon series of the Powerpuff Girls.

it is also a Crossover series, and even if Buttercup has a crush on Sensei Jack...(who is Samurai Jack.)

I think he might be from a timeline where his true love Ashi died.

but in the timeline he ends up in, his counterpart and Ashi had descendants.

and one of the descendants happens to be Professor Utonium,

and if one of the ingredients for Utonium’s chemical X

happens to be some of Utonium’s blood which has traces of Aku,

then that would mean that Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup have traces of Aku in them as well.

it be interesting if Alphys agreed on this theory lol.

but yeah after discovering that Samurai Jack might be the Ancestor of the PPG (which that would include Ashi as their Ancestress.)

it might be for the best that Buttercup’s crush goes from the puppy-love crush

to just fondness and platonic feelings, because Sensei Jack possibly being a alternate timeline counterpart of her ancestor.

but that might not be added to the PPGD,

but one can only look out for when it does.

Hello everyone, today I come to present you a new au that I will be doing together with Overwrite Dreamtale, this au is inspired by the game Mogeko Castle, which is one of my favorite video games, well starting with this I will introduce you to the characters that I have for now next to a chapter of MogekoTale

Characters:

1. Frisk: Frisk is a boy who is male, although he usually acts and looks like a girl, he generally keeps a secret that he is a boy but does not identify as a girl when It seems that he only likes to see the expression of others when they find out that he is a boy since he always ends up saying that he is a boy before leaving where he is.

2. Chara: Chara is a creation of the mogekos since after King Torien (he is the male version of toriel in my au) lost his queen because she gave him her heart in an operation so that he lived the last The queen's wish was to have a child with Torien but she could not have children so King Torien decided to do an experiment from which prince Chara was born, which like Frisk likes to dress as a woman although unlike Frisk he does not hide the one who is a boy.

3. Sans and Papyrus: These are two Mogeko brothers, Sans the older brother and Papyrus the younger brother, Sans was going to be crowned king of the kingdom but he decided to give his position to Papyrus because he always wanted to be the king of the Mogeko kingdom despite to know that his father King Gaster put Sans as heir to the throne but even though Sans if he wanted to accept the position he decided to give it to his brother because he preferred to see him happy and not sad since Sans knew more than anyone how much papyrus worked to obtain that position but King Gaster did not seem to care much, after Sans gave the position to Papyrus, over time he began to become selfish with his own brother, he even ripped out an ear to Sans for not wanting to obey an order. Well those are the characters that I have for now, in the next MogekoTale blog I will share more characters such as Torien, Undyne, Gaster and those who manage to do since the things of the aus and stories occur to me from the night already that no one distracts me at that time so it is easier for me to create things.

Chapter 0: It was a normal day like any other, Frisk decided to take the bus to get to Mount Ebott faster for a school excursion with all his classmates, everything was fine until he fell asleep, after a while someone woke up Frisk and he The train was empty so he continued to get off the train and saw that he was on Mount Ebott but something was strange, there was no one there and when he decided to take a step he fell unconscious and when he woke up he realized that somehow he reached a great kingdom full of strange beings who wanted to attack him until King Torien arrived who helped him pass some things and hide him from other beings, frisk was confused with all that and he knew that he had to get out of there as soon as possible so he decided to ask him for help To Torien to get out of that place who recommended her to stay there in a bit of a scary way.

This is where you decide which course Frisk will take. The course with the most likes will be the one that will be taken in the first route since there are more than 3 in my au:

1. You decide to listen to Torien and stay with him

2. You decide not to obey Torien and leave the place because it seems that something is not quite right in this place

3. Stay for the night and while Torien does not see you go

Well guys up to here chapter 1 remember to say in comments which option you chose, I must warn that the Routes will go from the one with the most likes to the one with the least likes, I will leave a comment with each option and so I will be able to know which option it will be so they must comment on the option they want and thus the option they chose will be taken

1) is there a story you’re holding off on writing for some reason?Right now, it’s ‘Journey to Heaven’s Gate’, mostly because I don’t see much enthusiasm for it and honestly maybe cause it isn’t as good? Eh, who knows lol

2) what work of yours, if any, are you the most embarrassed about existing?Honestly, my Left 4 Dead stories, at the moment. They were written on a whim at the request of a /lot/ of readers, and it basically took the joy out of it for me? It took the stories places I really didn’t want to take it, but hey, you work for comments and sometimes, you hate yourself for it.

3) what order do you write in? front of book to back? chronological? favorite scenes first? something else?Mostly chronological, though I have been known to skip out of order if a scene hits me, or if I realize I started at the wrong place.

4) favorite character you’ve writtenFor characters from fandoms: definitely Undyne, Mettaton and a few others from other fandomsfor OC’s, that would be a self-insert character, or my OC for rping Timmie.

5) character you were most surprised to end up writingDefinitely Mettaton from HIAPOTS; I didn’t think I was going to add him to the story (mostly cause he just doesn’t interest me as a writer), but low and behold there he is, haha.

13) your strengths as an authorI’ve been complimented on my ability to make people feel certain things when I write, lol. Other than that? Probably that I don’t usually find it hard to sit and write a certain number of words a day as a goal--whether its for a project or just writing in general to keep me sharp.

14) do you make playlists for your current wips?Sometimes? Its more often that I hear one or two songs that make me think of a certain WIP or a character from a WIP and I listen to that on repeat until I hate it, haha.

15) why did you start writing?I started small stories with I was really young, but didn’t get serious about it until I started writing bad poetry as a child to try and cope with my parent’s divorce. From there it was all downhill, haha.

16) are there any characters who haunt you?A few; some are waiting for me to actually write their stories, some haunt me cause my characterization was unfair. A few haunt me because of what they represent to me as a part of myself.

17) if you could give your fledgling author self any advice, what would it be?Start writing 2000 words a day and stop feeling guilty about ‘wasting’ your talent writing fanfiction. It’ll save you the heartache and let you enjoy it more.

18) were there any works you read that affected you so much that it influenced your writing style? what were they?Honestly, I try to take something out of everything I read, but there are a few things I read that helped me understand the scope of what I could write, and what it meant to tell a story.

19) when it comes to more complicated narratives, how do you keep track of outlines, characters, development, timeline, ect.?By the seat of my pants, honestly. The big details I remember easily, because that’s a part of characters that I know from head to toe. Its the small details that normally catch me.

20) do you write in long sit-down sessions or in little spurts?both, honestly? I prefer to have a long sit down session so I can keep my thoughts organized, but more and more I find myself sending out little spurts over my phone to my google docs.

21) what do you think when you read over your older work?Gross. Lol. Well, honestly, most of it is so far removed from what I am now that I tend to see it more as a reminder of who I was at the time. I can read a few older pieces and remember exactly what fucked-up bullshit I believed at the time because of my family. Sometimes the real me won out and I can look back with a little more pride, but most of it is kinda gross.

22) are there any subjects that make you uncomfortable to write?I’ll write about any subject, but I may not share it. There are some subjects that I think deserve a certain tone and understanding, and if you aren’t 100% sure that you gave those topics the understanding they needed, then sharing it would likely be a mistake. Hell, even if your 100% sure.

23) any obscure life experiences that you feel have helped your writing?Any and all, lol. My writing is more fluid if i can picture myself in the scene, so if I’ve done it, or seen someone do it, then awesome.

24) have you ever become an expert on something you previously knew nothing about, in order to better a scene or a story?God, all the time. I have so much useless knowledge in my head just because of the stories I’ve chosen to tell.

Words didn’t have to be wasted, the two of them could find comfort for their pasts within the silence each other; the kind of silence where everything that could be said had already been uttered and there was no awkward ‘it’ll be ok’ or lies of trying to believe in a future one could hardly guess at. Some things I’d like to see in the new Smash Bros game. Not necessarily working with realism here in the slightest.

A Kirby character with copy abilities. Could be Gooey, could be Shadow Kirby, could be the animal friends, could be someone else too. Kirby himself has hardly changed at all since Melee, but there have been a lot of abilities introduced since then that get no representation in his moveset, and even quite a few from before that game that don’t get to show up anywhere. Having a new character to show off a wide variety of other copy ability moves would be nice.

Cubivore. Cubivore got a trophy in Melee before the game was even released, but has dropped off the face of the earth since then. Getting even a little notification would be nice, at least give it an updated trophy. Maybe even appear as an assist trophy, that’d be cool.

Alolan Sandslash, Araquanid, Salazzle, and Dhelmise. A new pokemon generation passed since the last Smash and with it came new pokemon. Notably, this generation didn’t add many new creatures to the game, but out of the ones it did add and modify, these four are the ones I find particularly cool. Seeing them appear in pokeballs or at least trophies would be nice.

Something from the Mario & Luigi series or first three Paper Mario games. I do like my Mario RPGs, but they don’t get much representation in Smash aside from an occasional trophy and a 3DS Paper Mario stage that didn’t really capitalize on anything I found great about the series. Having a stage that was the Paper Mario 2 battle stage is something I’ve found a suggestion for pretty often, and yeah, that’d be great. Having Fawful or Popple or some other character appear as an assist trophy would be cool.

Banjo-Kazooie. What can I say? I like the bear and bird duo, Banjo-Tooie is one of my all-time favorite games and they fit right in with the cast of Nintendo characters. Getting to have Banjo and DK have a Rare-themed smackdown would be cool.

Shovel Knight, Shantae, Undyne, or Reimu Hakurei. I mean, I wouldn’t mind multiple, or even ALL of these characters making it in, but they all generally represent the same field of gaming that’s really missing from the Smash lineup. The indie gaming scene is stronger than ever and churning out character after character who would be fantastic for Smash Bros. Granted, Shantae is older than Shovel Knight and Undyne, making her debut on the Game Boy, and Reimu is even older and, notably, less directly affiliated with Nintendo, but at the end of the day I’d say all of these characters have made a major mark on the gaming industry in their own way, would be fun to play as, and generally mesh well with the established cast.

Then, the big thing, All of the stuff I’ve mentioned so far has mostly been fluff. Sure, I’d like to see all of those things happen, they’d be great! But there is one thing that I need this new Smash game to have, one thing that really determines whether I buy it or not. It could have all of the things I mentioned previously but not this thing, and I wouldn’t get it. Conversely, it could have none of the things I mentioned previously, but if it DID have this one thing, then I’d most certainly buy it. What is that thing?

A fulfilling single-player experience.

It could be a robust character unlocking scheme like Melee. I’d LOVE for it to be an expansive story mode like Brawl’s Subspace Emissary. It could even be a collection of fantastic side modes, like Smash Run eight times over. Either way, no matter how crazy the character roster or representation becomes, it’ll always come down to this: what can I do with them? In Smash 4, that answer was “nothing interesting.” Outside of the basic Smash Bros combat, there was nothing else to the Wii U version. I bought the game, but then proceeded to never play it at my home at all. When I did play it, it was at a friend’s house, and at that point I may as well have not owned my own copy. I got more mileage out of the 3DS version thanks to Smash Run, but quite frankly even that couldn’t hold my attention as long as Melee and Brawl’s fulfilling single-player challenges did. Smash 4 already had essentially a perfect roster as far as I’m concerned, any other character announcements that could get me legitimately hyped for the game are so out there that I don’t even remotely expect them to happen. Now, it’s time to give me something amazing to do with that roster. Give me the story mode. Give me the unique and interesting challenges for any given character like the 64 and Melee Break the Targets challenges. Give me the fantastic character interactions. You’ve brought all these fantastic characters together, now I just need something to do.

World Building Wednesday!~Yokaifell

🌼One of my personal favorites was chosen this week and I am so excited! It was a tie between Wiccafell and this and I just decided to do a little coin toss. I am happy to also announce that the ideas in Yokaifell will also be appearing in a more original form in the Souly Damned Universe. I will talk more about that on SD Saturday!

Yokaifell AU

Yokai Masterlist:

[Red] Ryutsuki (Ryou) 龍月- Kitsune (Kitsune Ebi- Shou & Rin)

[Boss] Kuro 黒- Gashadokuro

Doomfanger- Maneki neko (a variation of the bakeneko this kind brings good luck and fortune which I thought would be cute for the brothers. Hilariously Doomy was with Boss before he died coughs. Doomy is kind of like that cricket in Mulan supposed to be lucky but... questionable.)

Flowey: I am unsure if I am planning on putting Flowey in this or just have him as Asriel. Either way, he would most likely resemble the higanbana. These are also Red’s flower of choice, which is…ironic if you know the language of flowers.

The Dreemurrs: (this is a hard one. There are no Yokai as far as I can recall that are goat like, however there are some good candidates that could work. I have a few in mind right now and that is the kotobuki, hakutaku, shisa, Kirin or even the baku.

Undyne: Uni nyobo

Alphys: Honengyo (This is kind of the “Godzilla” idea she would just be mini XD)

Muffet: Jorogumo

Grillby: Onibi (this is a strange one because he would have to be a combination of onibi for this to work but don’t worry I am on it!)

Gerson: Kappa/ Genbu (due to his wisdom)

*{The lesser monsters would be a variation of yokai not exactly pertaining to their UT counterparts unless I can make that connection. The Underground/ Underworld, in this case, it basically the spirit realm so it’s not really necessary. They are not exactly trapped like in the original.}*

Main Plot Synop: Frisk is a foreigner trying to start a new life across the world in Japan. I am still trying to pick a possible location in Japan but that is a minor detail. I will say that I would like it to be a little more secluded. It is also modern day (I settled on Izumo). The people she moves to live among tell Frisk of their traditions and stories but her being from the West she has a hard time understanding. Frisk is told not to stay out too late and wander the nearby forest but hey who listens to reason? She ends up getting lost, alone, and afraid. That is until a series of flame like lights presumably show her the way back to the town. This happens a few times but she becomes more and more curious by them until they lead her deeper into the forest. She comes upon the entrance of an abandoned shrine stopping before a Torii Gate as the lights disappear. These are kitsunebi by the way. Only when she is hesitant to pass through it do they appear on the opposite side.

She ends up being startled by a white haired human that seems to have just appeared out of thin air. He tries to speak to her but she barely understands the language if only a few words. In frustration the stranger steals a kiss from the shell shocked human girl only for her to suddenly be able to understand what he is saying. A still highly confused Frisk ends up learning that he is in fact a demon or rather her interpretation since she is from the West.

It turns out that in order to give her the ability for her to understand him a dose of his magic was required changing the physical makeup of her soul causing it to become desirable to other hungry yokai that roam both the spirit realm as well as the night. Not believing his claim and rather angry at his sudden advance she storms off heading back toward the village. She begins to see more than she should as spirits appear out of the woodwork.

An oni appears in front of her ready to devour the poor unsuspecting human in which she ends up running back to the gate in order to avoid the giant monster. At first Ryou is not interested in saving the human girl but it is his fault that she has ended up in this situation. He saves her but not before she ends up accidentally running through the Torii Gate attempting to dodge an attack. The beast follows and Frisk ends up trapped in the spirit realm when the monster destroys the gateway. Kuro, Ryou’s older brother makes quick work of the beast.

The rest of the story revolves around Frisk trying to return home which requires a journey since a human does not belong in their realm and the gate to “leave” is on the opposite side of the realm. It is incredibly dangerous for someone like her to be there so she ends up in disguise with the help of Grillby and Ryou. Ryou is a kitsune so he is able to create the perfect disguise adding more magic to her soul to fool it into becoming a yokai temporarily. He is surprised to find she is the same kind as him, a kitsune.

Their journey takes them all the way across the spirit realm to find another gate and on the way they run into a colorful cast of characters. Some are helpful spirits. Others are man eating demons that are looking for a delicious human soul to devour. At first Frisk is content staying with the brothers but a human does not belong in their realm and that causes complications.

Yokai Lore/ Spirit Realm world:

The spirit realm is a dangerous place that few humans have ever set their eyes on. It the world between. A space that is home to various yokai. Humans cannot naturally see spirits as the modern setting has diminished the humans that still believe in them. They are not trapped but rather there is a hierarchy that is established. The more powerful the yokai the more they are able to interact with the human realm.

Hierarchy brief explanation (restrictions and interactions):

Servants of the gods- Yokai that can interact with the human world during the day or whenever they see fit. They are messengers for their respective deities. They are not known to be troublesome or mischievous.

Kitsune- A more rare type of yokai that can shift its appearance at will but mostly represented by that of a multi tailed fox. Some of them are servants of the gods but those who have no alignment can walk among the living during the day for a duration of time. When the night comes they can walk freely and interact with humans as they see fit. They are mostly known for luring humans away with kitsune ebi or fox fire.

“Boss” Yokai- Yokai gain their status by either specific species or their prestige. That can either be obtained by LV gain or doing favors for the gods. Some are hostile and some are passive it depends on the encounter. They can walk freely during the night without hindrance but unlike the two prior they cannot take form during the day.

“Lesser?” Yokai- Yokai that are relatively weak and unable to hold a physical form in the human realm. They can move objects and possibly possess humans but they have no ability to interact on a substantial level. They can be seen by some humans as little dancing and vanishing lights. They can rarely pass the barrier as is.

Lost souls- Lost spirits that wander between realms. They cannot interact with humans but can be seen from time to time. They are what the west consider the typical ghost.

Human Struggles Info {Plot}:

A human does not belong in their realm which also means that the world is also an enemy. The power of the soul plays a huge factor in this as weak souls are more susceptible to the world influence. There are three different outcomes that are possible for a human if they end up trapped in the spirit realm.

Dinner is served- A large number of yokai are known for their man eating tendencies finding human souls and flesh a kind of delicacy. Some are beasts that kill for pleasure but humans worst outcome is being eaten or killed.

You’re one of us now- A strong human soul slowly can be changed. The soul decides what kind of yokai that humans can become or will become. It is entirely possible that most of the yokai were once human but it is unknown. They are usually lesser yokai or spirits.

Lost soul- What the title implies. A soul unable to remember who they were. They wander for the rest of eternity searching for answers they will never receive. They are miserable creatures that pull others into their fate. Their depression is infectious and anyone already questioning themselves could easily find themselves among their ranks. They are not malicious only confused and desperate.

Symptoms of becoming a Lost Soul:

Confusion

Memory loss

Random emotional outburst/response

Physical weakness/fatigue

Relationship {Plot}:

Ryou and Frisk become close for a reason that they are both unsure about. They could be soul mates or his magic that is embedded in her soul begins to spread making her have feelings for him. Either way her love for him never wavers. A human can never fall in love with a yokai. It is not only forbidden but also very dangerous. *whoops* Their soul bond only grows stronger as their outward feelings increase. They spend the night together not understanding the consequences of that kind of action.

Unfortunately, Frisk begins to show symptoms that her soul is not powerful enough for this world and she begins to lose herself and forget. In desperation Ryou and Kuro make the decision to travel all the way to the end of realm to get her back to the human realm. When they get there she has a choice. She can stay and become a lost soul for the rest of eternity or leave and forget everything about them. Since Ryou and Frisk are soul bound she would feel a loneliness for the rest of her life unable to understand why. It is like losing a part of yourself. It hurts but she chooses the second option returning to the human world a little bit changed from before.

Epilogue {Plot}:

Though Frisk has forgotten about her soul mate and her time spent in the spirit realm she still has these feelings. She finds herself spending more and more time peacefully sitting by the gate or in the forests surrounding her home. It is calming and peaceful for her. What is even more curious is her new condition. She finds out by some miraculous way (not really she just doesn’t remember) that she is pregnant. When she has her children she finds them as normal children for the longest time until they turn 10. They start seeing things that they shouldn’t including dancing among little fire like lights that she swears she has seen before. She could swear she sometimes sees little fox creatures dancing in the flames. A trick of the light...right?

Frisk doesn’t know but Ryou’s ability to walk in the human realm has him visiting his children and her even though she is unable to see him any longer. Sometimes she wakes up in the middle of the night feeling like someone is there. A kind of warmth that she leaves her feeling cold when it’s gone. Her two children begin to show physical signs of being yokai including little fox ears and tails which she does not seem to question. It feels right to her for some inexplicable reason. Her children eventually see their father through the gate one day and Frisk is hesitant to step through it (for obvious reasons). She follows her children only to leave the human world behind once more meeting a stranger that to her is not so strange. Her memory slowly returns his Ryou’s help and they live happily together with their kids. It turns out that giving birth to two yokai children strengthened her soul from before giving her the ability to stay and become a yokai herself. As before she becomes a kitsune.

Senpai! Any tips on world building? :D

🌼Whooooo boy, that’s a lot of talk about Mambo X’D and I love you so I will do my best!

Worldbuilding is a lot of work and is constantly an exercise of questions and answers. A lot of times worldbuilding happens at random. I never thought that I would worldbuild half the universes I was messing with. I just have this drive to connect the dots, so to speak. It usually starts with a character for me. I will use Nova as an example since he seems to be the catalyst of my now fully fleshed out Outertale. Nova was just design at first but with every design I do, I have a need to tell a story. A lot of times people overlook the importance of clothing in their storytelling and being from that background I definitely put hints and lore into what the characters wear.

Sometimes even scrapping old designs to fit an overall narrative later on or fitting it to that mold. I originally drew Nova in a varsity jacket and as I developed the story I realized that I either had to make that choice believable or scarp it all together. I decided that his personality would be more rambunctious and trickster like this also led me to make him based off Loki. I decided to keep his jacket because his kind of uncaring and aloof attitude toward how the Monsters conduct themselves and their traditions made him a huge contrast. He prefers comfort over symbology basically.

The first question you have to ask is why. That is super vague but why are you making this world? What purpose does it serve? Is it something that answers questions about characters? There are four specific pillars for storytelling, plot, setting/ environment, character, and emotion. All of these are used to make a lot of the stories we see and hear today.

Nova, my OT Sans, needed kind of a purpose. I wanted my Outertale to be different in that way. I wanted to answer the question of why the monsters would leave in the first place. It turned into a rabbit hole of constant back and forth. It doesn’t really matter where you start on these four pillars but questions are so important. I know I keep saying that but it’s true. I will give an example.

Starting with Character/Environment: Characters are important to any story. They are the ones that your readers or watchers will be attached to. They are a mirror almost. Someone relatable. Now that doesn’t mean they have to be this pure bean. I would argue that making those kinds of characters actually makes it difficult to relate to. We all mess up so having a character with flaws that overcome them are even more relatable. Not to mention it will add to the emotional component. Our responses and our social skills revolve around our environment. This includes the “mechanics” of the world and genre.

WTU is a great example of this, though the world of Undertale is relatively well established there are a lot of loose ends. Even more so when you make a Fell variation. In order to be a little more unique with how I handle my verses, I tend to start at ground 0. The original. I will use Grillby’s as an example. Grillby Magmaran is one of my favorite side characters in the story but due to his personality and the world, he is set in I had to change some things around. The setting of WTU is odd. Most people tend to make Underfell this gritty, dark, and violent place but I wanted to add a few more... let’s say real-world layers to it.

Grillby to me was always kind of set in stone, character-wise. I wanted him to be kind of a playboy. One who just seemed to care about only his own self-interest, on the surface. A lot of characters I have “re-written” have this mold. That they can’t outwardly express what they want to because it makes them vulnerable. A vulnerability that is mirrored in the fact that Asgore doesn’t really rule over the Underworld like most think. (A side note on calling it the Underworld as well is this idea of underground and shady dealings.) The most power is actually given to three characters. The third I will stay quiet on due to spoilers but the other two are Muffet and Grillby. Each with their own industries capitalizing on the hopelessness of the inhabitants.

Grillby is all about vices which is why I changed his usual restaurant into a multistory nightclub and bar. A place for the monsters to blow off some steam so to speak. It also plays into his kind of sleazy outward appearance hiding behind liquor and vices. Muffet’s Black Widow Casino plays on greed. A rather fitting industry for her character since the original is also obsessed with profit. It is little things like that I would continue to dig deeper on. Why is Grillby this way? Heck, why would he stay in Snowdin? The answers sometimes take some time to really think about but it’s something I really enjoy doing. The answer I came up with was simple. Contrast. Grillby and Muffet used to have a very 1920′s don and mistress vibe in their original relationship but Muffet’s personality was a little too much to take for Grillby who fell into vices after his own grief. Snowdin vs Hotland. I think you can pick out the contrast. He wanted to be as far away from that spider as possible.

The town of Snowdin is actually a place that monsters can find sanctuary. It is not like Undyne’s monopoly of Waterfall or Muffet's rule of Hotland, why though? Well sticking with the original source material I still wanted Papyrus to be a character that you could love even if he was a little more rough around the edges. He is Head of the Royal Guard already so that decision led me to think more about how he would use that power. He basically becomes the protector of Snowdin Town and the townspeople reward him by placing a statue of the Captain in the town square. That boosts his ego but he still has noble intentions, protection. This also adds to his character since Papyrus in my version is the older of the two brothers. The only reason he is harsh on Sans (or Red in this case) is that he knows of the cruelty outside their little town.

This also explains why there are so many deadly traps all over the place leading into town. Very few monsters live outside the center of the town. It is his way of putting up defenses against any of the monsters that may be entering from outside the town. They have been used to kill humans, sure, but their main purpose is to create a blockade.

I am going to kind of get on a soapbox a little bit in this so just bear with me. I think that a lot of Underfell creators do a huge disservice to the universe and its concept. *shakes head* It is one of the reasons that I decided to finally put my story into the public. It took a long time to muster up the courage to do that. Making things for the sake of darkness or edginess to me is... very... uh... how do I put this? Well, it’s a huge pet peeve of mine. Dark storytelling can be talked about effectively if the elements are there and other things balance it out. I see this a lot between Red and Boss. Specifically their relationship and how that is handled. There are plenty of stories with characters being close in a dark and harsh environment. They don’t turn into abusive a-holes. WHY!? Why would you take something like the original skele-bros and their relationship and do that? Granted. If there is some reason behind it. If there is a well thought out answer to the question of why then that is perfectly fine. What I find more and more, however, make these kinds of choices just for the sake of it. IT DRIVE ME BANANAS.

Now I am not saying my story and verses don’t have plot holes. Most of the time when you dig deeper into a project you realize that closing one could open a few lesser ones but it just upsets me that people just randomly make these choices just for the sake of it. Shock value. There has to be a purpose. Good storytelling is about relatability and believability. Small things can sometimes take you out of it if they seem out of place. Remember that everyone goes about these kinds of creative choices differently. Mine is pretty much all question based or design-based. I am by no way saying that my way is correct. It is just something I have worked on for a very long time. I can kind of come up with my answers on the spot.

I was actually was asked to make a video on it so I may do that in the future. Just remember to have fun while doing it. Stories are fun to read but at the end of the day the world is yours and you should enjoy it!
