I noticed health and wellness repeated a lot throughout the magazine I picked up at the grocery store today. It was an organic magazine that included various recipes for healthy dinner options with low calories and health benefits. The brand "Flax" was particularly repeated a lot in the magazine, so I included it every time it was shown. It's a plant-based brand that is dairy-free, soy-free, keto, and no sugar-added products.
According to an article written by Joel Ozue called "The Effect of Repetition on Consumer Memory in Advertising,." He claims, "Repetition works by tapping into the mere exposure effect, a psychological phenomenon where people develop a preference for things simply because they've been exposed to them multiple times. In other words, the more we see something, the more familiar and comfortable it becomes." Which makes a lot of sense. The more I started to see Flax, the more intrigued I was to find out more about why the brand was showing up so many times. I was exposed so much to the huge letters printed in bold black font.
I find that the more I see any type of product, whether a friend uses it or a close relative has always had it in their home, I gravitate towards that product more than others. When I shop in the store for toothpaste or lotion, I usually steer more toward a product my parents would buy rather than a foreign brand.
