Agh......
#me currently right now exactly at this time#i am enamored by the show my little siblings are watching#it has awful pacing and very interesting voice acting?? but the outfits are so cute and the concept is adorable?#like the voice actors are so blank and lifeless and then others are weirdly emotional in the wrong way?? like the lifeless ones just sound#like theyre being sarcastic so#theres just this incredibly sarcastic cat that isnt 8ntended to be sarcastic and its GREAT#and theres this other character thats so cruel to the other?? and just mean?? and also#theyre trying to save this animal on the verge of dying and its like#'Rhen oh no we will save you' no pauses just in this monotone weirdly happy voice? AND ALSO THE MORALS OF THE STORIES DONT LINE UP#its a really cute show concept but WOW. how odd.#also theyre very enunciated and like#'Do you need help?' 'oh no i dont im just a bit dizzy' they proceed to take the help#also the singing is terrible its great#a majority of this stuff could be explained with OH MY GOD#THIS CHARACTER TALKS LIKE#'Oh no🤯 Where did Daisy Go?! 😗 Oh No! Where is Everyone'#'Theyre not inside Either 🙀' just like. the weirdest spots to emphasize#i wonder what was going on in their minds...#'Ill use my powers to go into Wandy's mind..'#'How strange- Everything looks black.'#by the way im being generous when i add punctuation. they literally talk with no stop.#The fucking. voice actor change for the song. and its still not good.#god thats hhilarious#they should let me voice act for them i would do so good#anyways now we're watching centaurworld instead of. whatever that was

First impression of each DJATS character after reading and watching?
Well interesting!
Let's see :
Warren
Book : chill funny one. Nice. Liked him. 8
Show: chill funny one. Nice. Good ethnicity change. Cool looks. Liked him. 8
Eddie
Book : Annoying but dignified on the end and understandable. 7
Show : Annoying, childish and rancorous. Didn't like the Camila's Affair. Without dignity. 4
Graham
Book: seemed rancorous and was later an incel. Didn't get over Karen even after 40 years. 4 .
Show: nice, cute, understandable, a good man there that you could marry happily tbh (Warren is like that too, Eddie IS pathetic, and Billy IS an unfaithfull toxic drunkard, as much as i like him, and IS in LOVE with many people at once...the logic choice for a boyfriend IS Graham, lets be honest). 9.
Teddy
Book : bossy. Kinda bitchy. Meh. 5
Show: father like figure, nice. I liked him better here. Ethnicity change works too. 8.
Rod :
Book : chill awesome and gay/bi. 9
Show: chill awesome . Sexuality non mentioned. 8 ( Its the scripters fault)
Karen
Book : feminist brunette tomboy rock star tired of everyone's shit. Not as good friend of Camila as you would think tbh. Did get over with Graham. Tough chick. 8
Show : Barbie Rock star. Feminist. Better friend to Camila at least she seemed to feel genuelly guilty about knowing but non telling Cami. Still in love with Graham. Less tough and nicer. I liked her better I guess? 9.
Daisy
Book : genious but also insane. Very selfish and a bitch, not very lovable, in fact sometimes you may hate her, charismatic but annoying. Camila wakes her conscience. Doesn't really know what she wants. She's said to have ethereal beauty and essence about her that's intoxicating and IS a beautiful redhead with Big blue eyes. 7.
Show : nicer, less selfish , she's not a bitch she is bitchy, but she isn't one you hate, she IS more like misguided but relatable main character with whimsical energy, Creative, artistic, she wants to be loved and a family aka what Camila have, her conscience wakes Itself, she regaings power and dignity in the end by walking away by herself tbh. Genious, slightly crazy, she also has ethereal beauty and essence about her that's intoxicating and IS a beautiful redhead with Big blue eyes. I loved her. 10.
Billy
Book : Hot and a decent dad. I didn't believe a Word he said about anything of the story..He was full of bullshit tbh. I found him unreliable, and a liar . But He was very truly charismatic. His Only reedeming quality was being a good dad apart of being a good musician. Suppossedly adores Camila with cute details like gifts , ice cream...etc But then threats her like crap cheating, falling for another and letting her raise 3 kids mostly by herself (playing with kids and being cute doesn't count, you should do the ugly parts too...Which he didn't do ever, first as a musician then as a composer/ song writer)
Something that bothered me a lot while reading was...If he truly wanted Daisy to find her "Camila" aka her water...why he messed with her??? Why he didn't throw her out the band ? Uh?
Cause he was a Liar!!!! He wanted to have her without the obvious repercussions (and Camila's complaints). Hadn't she left the way she did, prompted by Camila...They would had fallen into the affair hard.
Its just not real and It annoyed me a lot. No man is Schrodinger's cat unfaithfull (like unfaithfull and faithfull at once) , come on!! At least he IS entertaining to read XD . 7'5.
Show : im too biased here cause I love Sam. Hot and moderately decent dad, also a liar , but we saw what he did so...we are ready for his bullshit already XD.
Charismatic as fuck .
His true reedeming qualities are : Sam Claflin, Sam Claflin's singing voice, his fatherhood tiny moments with baby and kid Julia...and did i mention Sam Claflin being a hot rockstar?!...thats It. Whoever casted him did the Lord's job, cause had Billy been played by another actor everyone wouldn't be so in love or rooting for pairings ( Daisily or Camilly) everyone would hate him.
Sam has the talent to make you root for problematic people ( exceptions are in Nightingale and Peaky Blinders... for obvious reasons).
I liked that he relapses, I found It realistic. At least here he Only fuck Up (at the beginning, then he redeems) with one kid, not 3... If the bar for being a good dad consist in being there for the birth and to play a bit with your kid...Then the bar Its more than fucking under the ground, It IS as deep as the metro train!!! . He gets the 9, just because of Sam, excluding my Sam fangirlism... then 7'5 , and being generous, and Its for the relapse and the realistic infidelity approach...
Simone
Book : barely there. Super anecdotic. 6.
Show : my God, It was the best thing ever they did...They give her a soul!!! And interests outside Daisy!!! And a cool story. And a girlfriend...10. I couldn't love her more.
Camila...Brace yourself.
Book: Oh boy, I loved her. Patient , saintly, amazing strong traditional wife , awesome Mom. Good wife...not perfect (unfaithfull too and slightly manipulative) but very good overall. I loved her , so chill, strong and bossy. Tiny force to be reckoned with. 9.
Show: they sucked Camila's energy like vampires suck Blood ugh. They bared her of her strenght and made her say the cringiest quotes of the show , half of her dialogues were pure cringe. Camila Morrone Its so talented she Worked with that and made the changes watchable..
Taller and prettier, model like...it doesn't work as It should, as Camila was supposed to be less pretty than Daisy, here they are on the same level physically . Also Cami comes off as less cool and sometimes could come off even as bland. Her character IS now more realistic but IS the scorned wife™ , that here It doesn't really work, her peacefull confident behaviour with the literal quote "I hope I never see you again" as a prove translates as "I am the Queen and the King IS mine suck It Up bitch I won , go away"... I wish they respected her as she was , even with everything that they changed.
Had they kept her just like she was It would've been epic. But It wasn't. 7 . (For Camila Morrone's acting, not for her script).
Lisa and Julia are barely there, so i like them better in the show, as i'm seeing them, I guess? 7-8.
Nicky...i hated both versions, so yeah XD. - 10.
Thats It!!

my honest review/analysis kinda of the new camp camp special (MEGA SPOILERS!)
okay i’ll start this out by saying i really liked it! when i watched it at first, i wasn’t crazy about it, then i rewatched (almost) the entire series and it gave me a new perspective. i didn’t realize how much of the series i had forgotten about considering i haven’t watched it in 2+ years. so i got to see the characters develop all over again.
i thought the story was very much something kids would go through and i thought their reactions and behavior was very believable. but, throughout the entire thing, i felt like some of the dialogue was very forced and some of it kinda fan-servicey?? like the “somebody fucking has to” throwback felt forced to me, but that brings me to another point. i think the new voice actors are pretty good, max sounds practically the exactly the same (which is good because i thought his old voice was perfect for his character) but his new VA definitely needs to find his spunk, which is completely fair, i’m an actor i know how long it can take to completely get into character. but i think that made some of the dialogue from him feel forced. and not just him, some of the characters who’s VAs didn’t change still had some dialogue that felt forced. and i get why they did it but it was like a drastic change from regular goofy david in the first half to soft and sentimental david in the second where he had his serious, soft voice on the entire time.
i really liked how they had the two stories/fakeout ending thing! the only thing is i wish we would’ve had more time to expand on max’s emotions to the camp closing. i really liked seeing his facial expressions and how he reverted back to his yelling and snapping because he was upset. granted i understand why they couldn’t- they only had 30 minutes not 1 hour+. but i did something i don’t normally do and i watched the credits and listened to the song at the end:
“I hope this letter finds you well. Thought this shit was over, but I didn’t hear no bell. Put my life in every sentence written like it’s jail. The summer’s done, but I got hella stories I could tell. The doctor telling me my flow is sick at every check-up. Rap is my profession cause I went viral on Meta. Whipped the GTR like I’m piloting a Mecca. They talk behind my back, but it’s okay I keep my head up. I don’t give it weight unless they tell it to my face. I’m flashy like I’m in the mob, but I don’t stay in place. I cannot be phased ‘Campe Diem’ everyday. The memories we making they stay with us to the grave. I’m just being honest, every moment has to cease. Oh, this opportunity, the money, rest in peace. I write all these songs because he believe in me, so when the Winter comes I’m gonna still release the heat. (Richie, I said a lot of goodbyes, I said a lot of ‘so longs’).” and then it cuts to someone turning on a lamp on their desk to reveal this
and then it fades out with nothing else
given the lyrics to the song and this ending bit, i don’t know who’s speaking or who’s desk we’re at- max’s or gwen’s. now for the song i think it could be both, i think it could be two different letters written to david- lines like “Put my life in every sentence written like it’s jail,” “Rap is my profession cause I went viral on Meta,” and “Oh, this opportunity, the money, rest in peace” screams that its gwen to me, but then there’s lines like “The summer’s done, but I got hella stories I could tell,” “They talk behind my back, but it’s okay I keep my head up. I don’t give it weight unless they tell it to my face,” “I’m flashy like I’m in the mob, but I don’t stay in place,” and “I write all these songs because he believe in me.” which lead me to believe it’s max speaking. (KEEP IN MIND I HAVE NEVER LISTENED TO THE CREDITS SONGS BEFORE SO FOR ALL I KNOW THEY COULD MEAN NOTHING) so, i think it’s david reading two letters, one from max and one from gwen. to me thats the most logical explanation. now for the desk, i think its max’s. its not david because the walls are blue while in the counselor’s cabin they’re wood. and, max is the one who took the picture. granted, maybe he gave the picture to gwen, but seeing as max wears a blue hoodie, that might be his favorite color so his walls are blue too. i think this is max reminiscing over camp. and i think that’s how the new season is gonna start, with max reminiscing at home.
honestly, i have no clue what the next season will be, this special was set up like it was a finale with all the kids going home. but im very excited!
all in all, i really liked the special and i’m excited for new episodes in 2024! but the special didn’t have jasper in it so 0/10

What would you say are your top 10 Jane Does? What’s some of your favorite Jane Does singing wise as well?
OH I LOVE THIS QUESTION I AM KICKING MY FEET
its hard enough to just pick ten of them that i dont think i can rank them 1-10 so im just gonna say my favorites in no order. (also im not going to count emily rohm! i usually dont include the american tour in these sort of questions). just be ready cause i am about to yap SO hard i am going fucking OFF
sarah jane pelzer! the og, but also i just love the darker sort of tone she uses for jane. it really shows a different side of jane that i love.
playhouse collective jane is just so cute and i think such a good take on the character. adore her so much
ofc jane was one of the first i ever saw, and i just really like the characterization and interactions with the other characters. still to this day one of the best vocally that ive ever heard!
usd jane is so precious and sweet and i loveee how she holds herself and the voice she does. and k&e is a production where i have not seen any content of her actually performing but i adore her so much anyways. i just genuinely love her costume so much it makes me so happy as a costumer myself...
ut austin gotta rep my texans.. but rly i am just very into the direction taken with the character in this production and think that all the decisions made for her were very well done. plus i always love a white hair jane and i think the white lashes was also a really nice creative decision.. very ghostly and i think it fits so well.
majestic repertory!! a current production (which i have been waiting for for MONTHS to happen as i am familiar with some of the theatres other work and knew they would do this show so well. (and i was right!)), i love when janes take the more scary route with their movements, similar to my love for roxys downtown jane! and she is a prime example of that. i really love the characterization so much and it is definitely more similar to how i imagine her.
roxys downtown is the best example of how i actually imagine jane to be... their jane is the blueprint to me.. the actors choices and work with movement is so impressive and genuinely captures the character so well i can hardly imagine any other direction. plus the amout of impact their bojd had on future theatres is undeniable there is nothing like it
jungle theatre another one of the earlier productions i have just kind of always adored, the costuming is just so well done and i think we owe all the props to the first marionette jane
and cjt jane i love!!! i found their production from the jane actor themself, we were talking in a comment section and they sent me their theatres tiktok (which had three followers at the time lmao they were still months out to opening) so i kind of have a special place in my heart for them. their sweet childish kind of charactization is just so precious and really encapsulates the tragedy of the situation i think. plus also they made me CRY with their reaction to ocean sending jane back and that has never happened before so.
the best vocally that i can think of would have to be
ashlyn maddox. i wish i could say otherwise but she brought such a fresh voice to the character and is very clearly trained to perform in this register. plus the opt up she does changed me as a person forever and i genuinely cant hear the song without it.
ofc theatre- some of the clearest notes ive heard by any jane, and the stability that she performs is so beautiful. im also obsessed with the gentle vibrato and more sweet tone that she has compared to the intense operatic style of the original material.
beck centre, i havent watched in a hot minute so i cant give the most specific examples but i just remember how healthy and clear her vocals were and that is something that surprisingly many productions are lacking. i really appreciate when i find one where the actor sounds practically effortless.
the cast of mini mirage that there is a recording of. (i cant say anything for the other 2 casts sadly). i really appreciate a young actor who not only can pull off the song alone (WITH HEALTHY AND SUPPORTED VOCALS) but also incorporate the ashlyn maddox opt up!! i love that choice so much and cant believe we moved on from it so fast its such an incredible moment in any production that utilizes it as long as it is well done by the actor. i also just really love this actors vocal tone, i think it is so rich and beautiful and very different from most voices, especially in contemporary musical theatre.
dramatech. some of the softest sweetest vocals ive heard and they sound so healthy too but she does it so effortlessly which is what i love abt her performance most!

This is just me rambling about the lotr musical I just saw spoilers for the watermill theatre production of lotr!!
In no particular order
HOLYMOLY THAT WAS SO GOOD ARRGGRGReatsit
First off I was expecting a new musical (for context there was another musical first performed in 2006 I think) BUT IT WASNT at least the songs weren't I'm not sure about the script since its insanely hard to find anything on it APART from the songs, they can be found online even on Spotify! Point is I thought it was a new one BUT THEN THEY STARTED PLAYING ROAD GOES ON AND MY ASS FELL OFF ISTG Seeing that og musical has been a DREAAAM OF MINE BUT THEY DON'T PLAY IT ANYMORE OR SO I THOOOOOUUUGHT
The music is insane actually it's so good!!!
When I saw the elves and realised they wouldn't have long hair unless the actor already did I was a little nervous since I just find its difficult to portray elves without the iconic long hair BUT MY GOD THEY'RE GOOD I don't know what these guys did compaired to the short hair elves of lotr prime BUT IT WOOOORKS legolas was perfect and GALADRIEL the actress has stage presence if I've ever seen it!!! She had this for lack of a better word fuck ass bob with a gold wreath thing and a PANT SUIT SHE'S MENTAL I LOVE HER!!!
Her voice is insane there was a moment where a group of people all sang together and they seemed to be singing at the usual stage level right but here voice just boomed iver the whole group it was amazing! She was so loud but she did it well!! I find often when people sing that loud it's like shouting but not in a good way, she was SINGING it was beautiful. She captured galadriels aura and power so well every time she was on stage I just wanted to stare at her.
aragorn was so GOOOOD he also sounded a lot like Orlando bloom to me lmao. His outfit was actually perfection and his haircut??? HE HAD this shaved sides thing going on and???!?!?! I THINK I LIKE IT MORE THAN MOVIE ARAGORN DARE I SAY???
Don't even get started on arwen dude. THE COSTUME DESINERS DID AMAZING WITH HER DRESS AND THE ACTRESS CAPTURED HER SO WELL her ethereal feel with a slight bit of young wonderUUuGGHHhHh screams. Her voice is also actually insane I'm chewing bark.
Frodo was done so wellLLLLLLL the moments when he got taken over by the ring were so distinctly not Frodo!! The actor switched between the two moments so flawlessly!! It was like he was playing two people.
AND SAAAm what a sweetheart he is he's perfect in every way can do no wrong ever ever!! His voice was so pretty I'm gonna goble him up for real. Also I think he got slapped in the face?!? I couldn't see it perfectly but that slam sounded very real with the noise so I wouldn't be shocked. Dedication woa.
GIIIMLI meow meow meow he's so good bald king<<<3333 HIS OUTFIT?? punch me in the face please thanks. Bro his face when legolas was being sassy to him MF said >:000 I LOVE HIS PORTRAAAAAAIIIL UGggghhhHHH he's perfect in every way everyone stay back from my bald king RAAAA
Boromir my pookie gone too soon <333 his outfit was so good his actor was so good EVERYTHING WAS SO GOOD UUUGH Meow when he held frodo wrists to get him to stay I was like 🤨🤨🤨🤨😏😏😏 LOTR MUSICAL IS JUST FULL OF HOT PEOPLE
OMGOD GANDALF UUUGH HE WAS AMAZING idk why I thought he's be played by a younger guy in makeup?? Getting an actually older actor makes way more sense and HE WAS AMAZING
Saruman, elrond and golem were all played by this one guy and it was so good?? You could tell visually like his face that it was all him but he differentiates the characters SOOO well!! Bald elrond will haunt my dreams though..
MERRY AND PIPPIN UUUGHGHHG I love I love they made a tiny tweak to pip which was that since he was played by a lovely actress pip was referred to as a girl, but it was done very well! Nothing about the character changed, personality, story beats, outfit, everything was still pippin the only difference was a few she's here and there which is very much how this thing should be done :)) if you do need to or want to switch and characters gender it's good to keep them the same in other aspects otherwise they just come across as a new character with a familiar name! But that didn't happen here at all, the actress portrayed pip amazingly
Merry was also so good! His voice was amazing and he was so charming!
THE OOOORCS they were amazing. They were so unsettling!! I wasn't sure how they were going to play them but they had this gassmask type thing on it was so good! Everytime they came in I was excited to see them.
The way they did the nazgul was so fun. They were these skeleton horse head puppets!! They opened their mouths so wide it was really unsettling!!
AND THE SPIIIIDERRR everyone gasped when the spider came on. They opened these big doors in the back of the theatre right and she didn't even walk on she was right there! She was huge. She's this big puppet maned by like it's gotta be six or seven people SHE WAS AMAZING
AND OH OH OH THE FIRST AND LAST SCENES WERE OUTSIDE bilbos party was out in the garden!! We all got to sit around and the hobbit came and spoke to us all like we were invited to the party! Bilbo came out and asked me if I had eaten today if was great!! Speaking of which he was SOO GOOOOD
ANNNNDD they mentioned Tom!! WOOO at the end gandalf spoke about going to speak with Tom bombadil! We all had a giggle it was fun
It was just generally amazing all round

re a little life - is this the one with james norton as jude? i'd love to hear more of your thoughts about how you found it. was hanya similarly involved in this one as in the dutch version?
oh. get ready, i got thoughts. read more for spoilers i guess. mind you i'm very biased as a dutch person. i don't know if hanya was more involved.
the show's almost exactly the dutch one and it's kinda to its detriment a little when you know of the dutch one (which i still prefer). like the stage's the same (but way smaller as a consequence of dutch theatres just being way bigger than london ones). clothing wise it's even very similar. but this made it extremely difficult for me not to just focus on the differences in acting bc it's the same play functionally.
the show is shorter by 20 min and as a consequence there's not a lot of breathing room for the characters or audience. one specific part i noticed is that the happy years were cut down. that choice is an interesting one bc it does all around make it feel like this version is a bit more of a trauma conga line than the dutch version feels like. this combined with the fact that the rape scenes were simulated way more extensively than it was in the dutch one and you got to wonder: why is this needed for the english version? it's not like we shy away from explicitness in the netherlands.
acting wise it was all very similar direction to the original. james was fine i guess, he wasn't really directed differently from the dutch one but i did sense a different feeling in that i feel that james felt more emotionally open throughout whilst i feel that ramsey really got that internal strife and guardedness that jude had way more. his portrayal is so fucking layered and his screams are guttural. then again ramsey is like. one of The Dutch Theatre Actors. it's no wonder he got the dutch equivalent of tony awards/laurence olivier awards for this role. and was one of ivo van hove's main cast of actors but more on that later. so james was fine. he did have a good challenge in the role i think, which he took to what his heights are.
willem's interpretation here was frankly terrible. my friends and i fully agreed on this; he just didn't feel like willem from the book at all. he's way more of a weird teenager dude bro and there were less moments in the first half that fully indicated that there always was a bit more between willem and jude so in the second half i didn't completely buy that this version would be in love and say it to jude like that. it just didn't feel organic. and in the final death scene - when throughout the second half he felt a bit marginally better - he fully reverted back to this comic relief status like. i just snickered. i'm sure the actor is fine in other work. i just think the interpretation missed its mark here. maybe as adelstitel mentioned in one of our comments they felt he needed to be a comic relief character bc the play is full of trauma and in those tragic stories the audience does need to have release of tension sometimes. but it was way too much.
support cast was good, especially jb was terrific, and i liked andy. have no real feelings about caleb/luke/taylor but i do think hans kesting is way more terrifying in the role, maybe also because of the room he has in the dutch one. like he's got space he can use menacingly that the english actor can't bc of room limitations.
everything was in an american accent. sometimes the accent was quite strong, like with harold. that was kind of.. very distinct. and different from the dutch actor who is flemish and has one of the softest accents and voices. harold also stayed closer to jude at the end. one of the changes i did like is that both harold and jude sang a bit more at each other as a reference to the mahler song.
i think the dutch actors have the advantage of being a set cast of actors who work with each other through multiple different theater plays. there's just something magic there in their chemistry. and i thnk ivo very much knows what he can extract from them and that would be more difficult from a different cast.
so in short; basically the same show so it was good, but different interpretations and comparing them are difficult to avoid when seeing this in multiple languages. i appreciate the booklet giving a bit more background on ITA's existence bc how many times would an international show not in english be able to successfully make the move to english. nevertheless.. it's just subtitles to overcome!

have you played fes or portable? it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on how they differ from reload to you!
oh i grew up playing FES & p3p!!!! i would love to go off
i won't lie, persona 3 is an extremely nostalgic and comforting game for me, so i was honestly terrified about a lot of p3r's changes. i remember reading articles months before the game came out about how all of the voice actors for SEES were new and how all of the tracks were gonna be remixed and i was legitimately terrified. i grew up with the original cast and got so attached to them/their careers that i looked up other media that they were in. to this day they are voice actors i can recognize and name right away!
the original soundtrack for p3 is so iconic too and i thought it'd lose its charm when it got remixed, but boy, was i wrong. the new battle theme (it's going down now), the lyrical changes to burn my dread - last battle, even the exam music and changing seasons. UGH, changing seasons has to be my absolute favorite of all of them... adding lyrics to the most catchy part is the best thing they could have done.
i will say (and this might be nostalgia talking), i am still really sad that yumi kawamura got replaced as the singer for nearly every song. i think the main songs that mess with me are the ones where her iconic vocals are replaced ("deep mentality" Specifically doesn't sound right with the new vocals imo), but on the whole, i like a ton of the new songs and the remixes.
onto things that aren't surface-level changes, lmao-
i absolutely adore the screentime they added for strega. they played a part in persona 3, but they were always in the background. chidori got 90% of the screentime. seeing takaya have a crisis over his feelings for the protag & jin being super codependent with takaya was SO good. hearing more about their reasoning and their backstory being more fleshed out ugh;;; the bit with the prototype evoker fucked me up especially. and seeing takaya eventually resort to using an evoker in his boss fight? HURTS
(aigis vc) RYOJI RYOJI RYOJI, DEATH DEATH DEATH. the original game (while playing as the male protagonist, at least) did not focus on the relationship between him and the protag, like...at all. which is so funny because they made it a highlight in the manga AND the movie! i've always loved ryoji to bits, but i've also had to rely a lot on the femc's route and the movie to think about how they could have bonded in the original :( thank god reload gave my boy more content because he NEEDED it. ryoji's connection to the protagonist should really be emphasized in every piece of media, and they FINALLY did it. also just about every day before i reached november, i would rant to my husband about how "there needs to be more ryoji/protag content. it doesn't HAVE to be on the level of "i'd love you even if you were a boy" but i need SOMETHING." and then atlus smacked me with "i want to be something more" and i LOST IT. THEY DID THE THING. atlus embracing the romantic tension between them MY BELOVED. (in case it isn't obvious, ryomina is my favorite ship)
SHINJIRO. the first time i played persona 3, i really didn't care for him (i've never liked characters who are stand-offish and constantly push people away without apparent reason). it was only after i realized the greater backstory that i learned to appreciate and sympathize with his character, and imo, one of p3r's greatest additions was the ability to interact with shinjiro and ken before shit goes down. shinjiro's plotline where you try to convince him to go back to school is devastating, especially when (spoilers) you find a re-enrollment form filled out in his room. absolutely fucking HEARTBREAKING. i already cried during his death (way more than i did in the original game, which is kinda crazy), but damn, they got tears out of me AGAIN with that one. i also noticed that there's a lot more foreshadowing and it is SO effective. i already went off about this on my shinjiro blog, but damn, they fucking nailed it with him.
FRIENDSHIP ROUTES!!! i can't tell you how frustrating it was trying to balance social links between all of the girls. it made me lean more into focusing on yukari (best girl) and nobody else lmao. one of the points of persona 3 was that social links were near-impossible to complete, and they really realized that goal with the girls imo. however!! getting to see the protagonist opt for friendships is really sweet. i love seeing a good rejection where neither party holds a grudge or feels humiliated. it's a really nice touch, especially because i've always wanted to see how friendships would pan out between the mc and the Gorls.
general quality of life changes & the addition of theurgy. i love that theurgy had more depth to it than just a "super move;" looking at the personality conditions is so nice and adds more to the characters than they already had. seeing that shinjiro's resolve deepens when his hp is less than half made me so :'))))
those are big things i love about p3r's changes. aside from the protag not being able to change weapons (my favorite part of original p3), i think the biggest complaint i have is that they left out the answer (p3p has been ported to modern consoles, so you can still experience the femc's route, but the answer is ONLY on ps2 to this day), and even then, i've read that they're planning to add it as dlc.
i've said this before and i'll say it again: i know people have gripes with the answer, but i absolutely adore it. it's the most realistic portrayal of grief among the dorm, which hits differently for EVERYONE. every single change to their personalities makes sense, especially taking their reliance on the protagonist into account. it's made so much more obvious in p3r (which i love), but everyone cares deeply about the protagonist. losing him is a devastating blow. and then aigis gaining his power? yukari is SO justified for being distraught and jealous. that's the realest shit i've ever seen.
also the fights between them because they can't decide whether to go to the past or look to the future...the entirety of the answer is heartbreaking because it hits so hard. yukari, who (aside from aigis) was hit the hardest by losing the protag, obviously wants to go to the past, back to a time when he was alive. the others either want to compromise or move on. the answer is about accepting life's hardships and finding a way to move on and that's beautiful. it's always hit so hard for me.
that's not even delving into metis and aigis UGH... i could go off about the answer forever.
as for p3p-
i played p3p nearly every day when i was in middle / high school. i'd bring my psp to school and play it religiously. i still remember blasting "heartful cry" on my ipod and playing p3p on the bus, lmao.
it's not my favorite iteration of persona 3 now (p3p was good for travel + when i was in school and needed something to get me through the day), but i do have a soft spot for how much effort was put into the femc's route. i will say that i'm not as devastated as a good chunk of the fandom that the femc isn't in p3r or even p3d, but i do love her character and i hope she's also eventually added as dlc (if they're gonna add the answer, then why not add femc again?). i'm really glad she was included in pq2 though, ESPECIALLY because there were so many validating twin moments between her and the male protagonist :')))
i will say, as a final note, that p3r REALLY nailed the feeling of original p3, but i think it made me way more emotional with how it was executed. i've PLAYED the game a million times! i knew every plot detail, i knew exactly how the game would play out (aside from the new additions), and i STILL sobbed several times by the end of the game. i've said this to my husband, but p3r was so well-executed that i felt like i was playing the original game for the first time!! and as someone who has experienced the game MANY times, that's such an incredible feat. i adore the remake. i'm so glad that none of my initial fears were warranted.
for once: thank you, atlus.

MILEY CYRUS - "FLOWERS"
youtube
We may prefer to have flowers brought to us in the pouring rain...
[4.60]
Edward Okulicz: Something about this song clearly resonated with a lot of people, and months later I'm still unsure what it is. My best guess is that the self-confidence of the lyrics is given a mournful undertone by the melody and delivery. Now twice the people going through a break-up can relate! Good work, Miley; it's a strong melody. [7]
Tara Hillegeist: Fucking Miley. [1]
Frank Falisi: What's in a voice? Intention with friction, and then time. To write about Miley's voice in terms of its recognizability risks the redundancy of writing about the sun's warmth or the grass blade's cool. Listen: she sings with one of the seminal grains in pop music. In spite of this fact or because of it, the voice has jostled through myriad transforming forms, since Hannah Montana, since Breakout. Sometimes a singular instrument bargains too recklessly with the free market, and while the chameleonic pop path is far from exclusive to Miley, her voice has been aggressively strip-mined by trends and forecasts, by its singer. And like a Fielder-Safdie-Stone curse, that Billboard cover story where she forced the voice to renounce hip-hop as a regressive and swear fealty to respectable family/blasé liberal politics, the changes have felt like market calibrations rather than aesthetic ones. She apologized, and to be sure, no pop presence deserves to be read one way: part of a stardom's symbolism is that it speaks in a voice all on its own, in fact has no choice in the matter. But the voice's grain has turned to game (show). Everything since has been a reduction: upraising "authentic country", a half-hearted dalliance with Joan Jettness, eventually embracing life as a jukebox quartering out covers; the plastic glam-gloss possibilities of Bangerz barely warble out in the fricatives. "Flowers" is ostensibly a kiss-off, but all it does is reaffirm the transfiguration of a pop arc into a loop. It trades "Malibu"'s domestic bliss for independent womanhood, a similar and familiar commodity de rigueur for re-branding icons. One wonders what the song would do if it rose to the occasion with real venom, if it let the voice (which is to say, the feeling) jab through the veneer of canned narrative. It doesn't. "Flowers" doesn't go anywhere, its chorus maintaining the same no-go goop groove that its verses offer. Not stuck in your head but just plain stuck, a voice circles. [2]
Joshua Minsoo Kim: So labored in its delivery that the message starts to make sense. Yes, I start to think, the sluggish melody has the semblance of pushing through pain. And then those harmonies arrive to shove the Inspiration down your throat. I don't like self-love when it's obnoxious. [3]
Ian Mathers: One of the few faint silver linings of TSJ gracefully exiting the stage is I thought I'd never have to reveal certain shameful secrets once I wasn't writing about certain pop stars. But I have to face up to it: I just don't enjoy Miley Cyrus's voice. It's a perfectly fine voice! And I'm not talking about her performance or anything. There's just something about the timbre of her voice that doesn't work for me. I've never exactly striven for the illusion of objectivity in these blurbs (C'mon. C'mon!), but I admit I've caught myself humming the chorus here enough that I'm trying not to hold my irrational and visceral dislike of Cyrus singing against it. [6]
Jonathan Bradley: As she's grown older, Miley's grainy voice has gathered more charm and personality, not qualities it had been lacking in her youth -- even as a Disney Channel actor she evinced a sharp sense of performance savvy and comic timing. She's also learned that the public will punish her if she gets too outré, which is why her big hit of 2023 was a song of low-key melancholia colored by gestures towards independence that resonate faintly without being at all disruptive. No one's ever going to be troubled if she buys her own bouquet. The result is this year's answer to "Cold Heart": a song catchy enough to become omnipresent and wan enough to quickly wear out its welcome. [4]
Jacob Sujin Kuppermann: Honestly if we had reviewed this when it came out I'd probably be a few points higher on it -- but everything that seemed charming here upon first listen has faded with time. That disco groove feels stiffer and more focus-grouped the more times it loops, Miley's insouciance has morphed to laziness, and that Bruno Mars quote has lost what little cleverness it had to begin with. What remains is a thoroughly under-written event single, a nothing of a song in the vague outline of a hit. [2]
Alex Clifton: I've heard this song so many times and I can easily hum it, but I can't remember any lyrics beyond "I can buy myself flowers/write my name in the sand." Am I just bad at paying attention? I mean, kind of, but I think it speaks to how I view Cyrus's work overall: really catchy, memorable melodies, but weak lyrics that wash away. It's a shame as it's a neat hook, but acts as a six-second intrusive thought, built more for bite-sized consumption. Added a point because I will never be able to buy flowers again without thinking of this song, in much the same way that my brain automatically turns to Katy Perry whenever I see plastic bags. [6]
Leah Isobel: Arid guitars, parched Miley vocals, lyrics so terse they might as well be mirages: this is global warming pop. So when she says "I can buy myself flowers," it's not just aspirational in the sense of being over someone's bullshit; it's aspirational in the sense that flowers will someday cost as much as a house in Malibu. [5]
Nortey Dowuona: It's a little surprising that Miley Cyrus is now a respectable pop singer who makes convincing country pop, mainly cuz for a while she was off following her own weird muse into any direction and making albums with her Dead Petz and singing with Lil Nas X. But now she's making conventional guitar pop with either neatly mixed drums or very lively drum programming that launch each chorus into a brightly lit croon that lights up at the tail end, Miley's last searing "than you can" lingering before the song ebbs and stops. And it's a little surprising because it's actually pretty good. (It ain't Slide Away tho.) [8]
Brad Shoup: I'm more appreciative of ballads than I used to be, and a disco ballad is a great change of pace. Miley is aiming this at the dive bar; there's no show-stopping bit, just a constant smolder goosed by guitar and electric piano. (The strings should've gotten to sob a little!) When the high-stepping chorus comes in all I can think of is "When I Was Your Man": partly the melody, partly the flowers. [7]
Taylor Alatorre: I don't know whether the thing about "When I Was Your Man" being one of Liam Hemsworth's favorite songs is just a cop-out to avoid having to pay royalties to the Smeezingtons, but Miley doesn't seem very determined to disprove that theory here. Her unbothered, above-it-all delivery could stand to be a little more bothered, and parts of the song's structure are just plain frustrating, like the stubborn, senseless pause that precedes every chorus and forces its already-limited stock of momentum to restart back at zero. The wobbly contours of Miley's voice are arresting enough to prevent a complete collapse of listener interest, but it's hard to fashion a convincing portrait of liberated selfhood out of an earlier song that's built on woeful penitence. [4]
Wayne Weizhen Zhang: Miley's music as of late has evolved to genuinely interesting places steeped in introspection and authenticity. It's a disappointment, then, that "Flowers" is the biggest hit she's had in years. It retreads ground she's covered in a format that can only be described as maudlin, drab, and too on-the-nose. [4]
Jeffrey Brister: I don't listen to terrestrial radio, like, ever. Haven't in years. All of my music consumption comes exclusively from RSS feeds, social media, and hallowed sites like the one you're reading right now. My only exposure to "what's on the radio" is in segments of seconds as my wife's alarm goes off, notes wafting from a tinny speaker at a progressively louder volume. In those moments, immediately after waking, I'm groggy and confused, unable to form higher level thoughts. This particular song has been a part of that ritual of gaining awareness, and every single time it has come on, my first truly coherent thought is, "man, this Lady Gaga song is not good." [3]
Katherine St Asaph: I know that after the "Blurred Lines" case songwriters reportedly got paranoid about receiving vibes-based lawsuits and started changing or crediting anything that even kind of sounds like another famous song, but is that even true? Have they stopped? Because this is just Cher's "Strong Enough." [5]
Scott Mildenhall: Clever writing, textually appropriate plagiarism and memorable melodies -- but while these flowers are neatly arranged, that just means they've been dispassionately stuffed into a panel. Perhaps it sounded better on first listen, but at this stage it's flaural wallpaper. [7]
Alfred Soto: After a flop album that I enjoyed, Miley Cyrus returned with -- what exactly? Why and how "Flowers" resonated for millions in the first half of 2023 baffles me. Her nasal Stevie Nicks-indebted goat-warble is its own attraction, the hook is pretty good, and... well, what? Combine her timbre with the line "I can buy myself flowers" and presto -- a yearbook quote if yearbooks existed. [7]
David Moore: I'm a digital download pump-priming truther, so I guess if the alternative is fascists getting to #1 for a week or two I'll take a full calendar year's slow and steady drip of Miley's mids as a form of pop chart harm reduction. And this is one of those songs like Bebe Rexha's "Last Hurrah" that I appreciate the personal connection to without it affecting my sense of how dumb it is. My youngest really likes this one! We both laugh about the part where she says she could talk to herself for hours (that seems weird!), and he is fascinated by the idea that writing your name in the sand is something that people who are dating might do, because he also likes to write things in sand and does not yet fully understand dating, but he did, unbeknownst to me, download an app on his tablet to practice kissing, and he also downloaded a "love app" and correctly noted that in one picture the two people are in love with each other even though she's his crush, which means technically she shouldn't love him back (he's six... to her credit, Miley Cyrus has always deeply understood six-year-olds, the low end of her old Radio Disney demo). And hey, speaking of Bebe Rexha and endearing constitutional midness, isn't it kind of funny that the one person in the world worse at being a pop star than Miley Cyrus happened to put out the best Miley Cyrus song of the year and no one cared? They should have paid for more digital downloads! [5]
Will Adams: EDITOR'S NOTE: To prevent attracting attention from Ms. Cyrus' passionate fanbase, this review has been amended for the writer's protection. Ten years on from being a twerk-pop provocateur, Miley has firmly cemented her status as a C-list an A-list pop star who releases some of the most boring iconic music put to tape. From the zen lite-rock of "Malibu" to the shiny-leather pop of "Midnight Sky" to the disco of "Flowers," it seems she's never always had anything something interesting to say, no matter the outfit. Perhaps that's what helped "Flowers" become Spotify's most streamed song globally this year: it sounds like nothing everything. The arrangement is terminally limp serve. The self-love imagery is beyond basic vivid. Miley pushes her voice as usual, but with such staid slay surroundings, the song's failure legend behavior becomes that much more apparent; the flowers have already wilted outsold Ariana. [3]
Michelle Myers: Personhood is fundamentally lonesome, and we should all seek ways to break free from ourselves. Dance, drink, laugh, make music together. Make music that isn't boring nu-disco! You can buy yourself flowers, but a dandelion from someone who loves you means so much more. [3]

if you're still wondering, here's a rundown of both. honestly, comparing them is difficult bc they are not at all similar other than being otome games
(full disclosure, jj is my ultimate otome fave as a huge ishida sui fan. not that i don't like code realize, but....)
code: realize
5 + 1 LIs (sholmes gets a route as of the first fandisc), with two fandiscs. with an ensemble cast that leans heavy into found family.
traditional vn (just choices, no stats), with a very long common route
mainstream popular, so you'll have plenty of fan content and other media to look at, including an anime
alt history steampunk setting, weird and fantastical
romance wise, bc of the long common route its not super fanservicey or heavy on romance. vut there are Moments. there are two fandiscs however so those are all the romance you could want lmfao
tone wise, it's mostly serious, with lots of tragic backstories and emotional damage. there are plenty of death endings, although tbh the bad ends aren't particularly memorable (unlike some games ive played...) still fairly whimsical, not overly grimdark, and a lot of humor mixed in to lighten things up. plenty of action and drama.
overall It Is An Otome. if you want a game that Is An Otome but has action and drama aside from romance, code realize is basically the gold standard.
jack jeanne
6 LIs + solo route, as well as several side character scenarios (that i really want to be full routes ugh)
the easiest dating sim ever. still has dialogue choices like a typical vn. the only thing difficult is perhaps the two styles of rhythm game segments, but you can play those on easy if you like.
extremely long common events, with sparse romance up until the very end. this is kisa's story first and the romance is secondary.
modern day theater school setting. almost no fantastical elements aside from the settings of the plays.
insane level of detail. like, each character has at least a dozen outfits, there are over a hundred CGs (poor ishida...) there are multiple unique events for every free day. the amount of content in this game is astounding.
the theater element means that its somewhere between a sports and a music anime, and about the trials and hardships between. INTENSELY character focused, rather than plot focused.
the songs and performances are really good, it's really hard to describe how i felt the first time i got to a performance segment and got to see, not just the costumes and music, but all the individual components of the play together. it's incredible. (each play is a fully written story btw, you can even view the script after.)
the voice acting is also amazing because you have each person not only voicing their character, but reading lines as the character and showing how their interpretation of a role changes through trial and error. oh, and they fucking sing. genuinely every actor in jj deserves some kind of medal lol
in conclusion, if you want a traditional otome experience, with both plot and romance, you can't go wrong with code realize. it's very balanced. however, if you want a well crafted piece of art, where the otome aspect is minimized, please play jack jeanne. 👍
Reddit is like the worst fucking place to try and ask for opinions on shit, not because the community but because of the mods
"Hey I'm thinking about getting this game or this game, which do you think has more value?"
"this post is being held you will need to edit it to have a paragraph about what you like in games, what you want out of them, and what games you've played."
Suck my right nut I just wanted opinions 😭
#im also not a fan of the otome sub but thats bc theyre weirdly hostile to the mention of non FxM routes.#like if theres five dudes and one girl idc im calling it an otome even if its an oelvn 'amare' its literally whatever.

study session, sex songs
❥ armin x reader | nsfw | 2.3k words
❥ content: semi public sex, vaginal fingering, a sex tape
❥ a/n; an ask i got that i took an ss of and then tumblr deleted my asks, but i HAD to do this🙄!!!
you were bored.
you were so bored that the sound of the rain drops hitting the window next to you was almost a form of entertainment, or maybe the shuffling of people trading books on the shelf.
at this point anything was better than the piece of paper and book in front of you. you had been staring at the words so long that they were all the same. you were rereading the same sentence over and over again, and aimlessly sketching small drawings on the paper in front of you.
studying wasn't your strong pursuit, especially with your boyfriend next to you, who seemed to love it. at the thought of him, your eyes glanced over— a sight for sore eyes when you had been staring at chemistry notes for the past half hour.
a pencil was dancing on paper in between his slender fingers, jumping with every lift of his hand and coming back down to the white sheet like a figure skater on ice. he wore glasses to study, large frames sitting on the bridge of his nose, his hair so close to touching them. those same blonde locks almost hid the earphones that were snug in both ears, and you wondered if whatever he was listening to is what helped him study so diligently. his tongue stuck out just a little bit in concentration, while his eyes flit back and forth between the paper in front of him and the book above it.
he must've been watching you watch him, his attention turning towards you and the mechanical pencil coming to a quick halt mid sentence. he set it down to the table gently, and you lifted yourself off of the surface to balance your head on the palm of your hand. "armin." a whine of his name, clear discontent laced in your voice.
"yeah?" his reply was so simple, so innocent. as if he didn't drag you to the library with him, practically pleading for you to just sit down and study with you knowing you hated studying, especially in the atmosphere of a library. there were too many distractions and you weren't comfortable. not to mention the fact that you were clad in a skirt.
"i can't study, can we just go?" his expression didn't change at the sound of your complaints, eyes still calm and lips still together in a line. you didn't want to come in the first place, he should at least give you the liberty of leaving when you asked— especially considering how long you had been in the quiet library.
"do you think listening to something will help?" armin's eyebrows came together as his hand came to point at the earphones in his ear. you really didn't want to stay, but when you thought about the focus your boyfriend was in that you broke you did feel a little bad.
your legs shifted from under the table and you sat back in your seat, crossing your arms in your lap and letting out a sigh, eyes traveling around the vast library. when they landed back on armin the earbud was already sitting pretty between his fingertips. it was glaring at you and you were glaring at it, but nevertheless you leaned forward and plucked it from armin's fingers, his lips upturning when you did.
he slipped his hands in his pockets to fumble with his phone and you picked up the pencil in front of you to try and get back to studying, checking to see what page armin was on while you waited for the music to play in your ears. what music was armin into anyways? the last thing you could remember him listening to being a spotify playlist full of lo-fi beats.
only... it wasn't lo-fi beats that began to play.
or music.
your body went rigid, pencil in your hand beginning to feel heavy, leaving you to wonder how it hasn't clattered to the table yet. a chill ran down your spine because what you were listening to was all too familiar— from the wet sounds that happily made its way into your ear, to a moan of armin's name that sounded much too like your own voice.
it was your voice, because when you heard another moan it was armin's cry of your name.
it took you a minute to turn your head towards armin, his eyebrows raising over his eyes in question of what you could possibly want now. he hummed a small "hm?" to figure it out, as if it wasn't obvious. that look of innocence was played by him again, blue eyes twirling with curiosity as if there was anything to be curious about. as if your sex tape wasn't a reason for you to look at him funny— eyes blown and mouth agape.
when you didn't respond— only still staring at him dumbfounded, he shrugged his shoulders and continued to scribble on his stupidly neat paper.
were you hearing things right?
your eyes flashed, brows knit as you shoved armin's shoulder, his pencil flying off the paper and messing up the "e" he was in the midst of writing. "you messed up my paper." he grumbled, and oh, was he a little too good at this game he was playing with you.
"what is this?" you questioned, disregarding the flimsy sheet of paper he was writing on because that was clearly the least of his issues.
armin used his pencil to point to your book, confusion taking over the once curious look he had just moments ago. "...a study session i would assume." he wasn't letting up, and your lip twitched at his response.
"no— i mean what am i listening to?"
"well, out of everybody you should know." your body stiffened again, a slow blink at his response that came out almost too smoothly, words sliding off his tongue like silk. you had to pull your gaze away from him as he only did just what he did earlier, going right back to studying like there wasn't anything off about the moment you were sharing.
if he wanted to play with you, you'd just have to join in his game.
so with a huff of breath, and the lewd noises that were still playing in your ear you turned your body back towards your notes in front of you and tried to read them over again. your name was the only thing comprehendible on the sheet, every word below it a jumbled mess.
"light wave... light waves, diffraction pattern..." you spoke slowly, reading as if you were back in the first grade.
your hands moved down from the textbook and to the paper in front of you, nimble fingers forming words on the paper that you could only hope would make sense when you'd read them back.
diffraction pattern - occurs only
"only who?"
"only you fuck me like this, armin, please!"
the tail of your y went a little too low, and your legs turned to jello, squeezing together when you heard your voice swim through your ears. blood was rushing to your cheeks, and you leaned closer to your book, burying your nose in it despite not actually reading what was on the pages— at least well. with a suck of breath you continued to write,
diffraction pattern - occurs only you fu
your eyes shot open mid sentence, and you scrambled to spin the pencil around until the eraser met the paper, erasing what you had written furiously, and you swore you heard a small chuckle leave armin's lips, you biting your own and scrunching your nose up at your pitiful mistake.
your hands came up to rub at your temple, the sound of a moan armin drawled from you a couple nights ago was what you heard next, and it might’ve sounded nice those nights ago, but now it was embarrassing.
you squeezed your eyes shut, much like your legs and as flustered as you were you couldn’t help but feel... aroused.
it was something about hearing armin fuck into you so nice. the way that even though there was no visual for you to look at, you could visualize the moment so clearly— so vividly, because the more you listened the more you could remember making the tape, remembering what happened during the tape.
armin’s hands had slid up your back, a handful of your hair being grasped by his hand, a sinful arch being created by your back, and you let out a choked whimper, that you didn’t even realize you reciprocated in real life.
armin’s head slowly turned to you and his lips were forming a sick grin, and you would’ve been mad if you didn’t want him so bad, if you didn’t want every moment you could hear to stop being the past and become the present, the very moment that was playing in your ear to play out in front of you.
a whine, a pleading look on your face; eyebrows turned upwards and your hips grinding down into the chair below you.
armin could’ve almost laughed if he wanted to, and he almost did when your hand slid into his lap to grab his and pull it to the hem of your skirt, the fabric brushing lightly against his fingertips, but he didn’t push forward.
“armin,” his name never sounded so nice on your tongue, never sounded so desperate. your grip on his wrist tightened and urged him forward, and so he let them slip under the soft fabric of your skirt, and even past the band of your underwear, and the closer he inched towards your aching cunt the wider your legs spread for him.
his finger felt cold against your clit when he touched it, rubbing small circles right away, and your face looked like it was melting at his touch, your body was melting at his touch.
and he was being kinder than expected— letting his fingers dip down further until your slick allowed for him to enter into you, your body shivering at his touch, at the stretch.
your head fell forward onto the table with a louder than expected bang, and it caused both you and armin to jolt, the people around you stirring a bit.
you didn’t care too much, but armin did, his fingers stilling and his eyes going back to his textbook, eyes darting back and forth between the words as if he was really reading them, and you wanted to give him a prize for best actor right then and there.
“shh.” he said without looking your way, but his fingers began to move again, and you tried your best to not let out a moan. “gotta be quiet if you want me to fuck you with my fingers... this is what you want right?”
the sound in your ears were practically drowned out by your thoughts, by the squelches of your juices being moved around by armin’s middle finger, by the sounds that only you could hear— and maybe armin if he listened enough.
“yeah... i want it.” the small pants that were leaving your parted lips, and they only increased when armin inserted a second finger, his hand making itself comfortable in your underwear, fabric harshly rubbing against his pale hand with every thrust of his digits into your pussy. “want it so bad.”
you looked like a dog, a puppy in its heat, pushing your hips forward to get him deeper into you, but it just wasn’t enough.
you were needy and needed more, so your own hand smoothed down to your clit and you began to rub circles, whimpering at the sensation, the pleasure flooding through your lower half, almost making you dizzy.
hell, you were dizzy— drunk even; drunk on the lust that was twirling in your pretty head, and drunk on armin’s fingers— it was like the way his hand moved when he wrote notes, moving precisely and ease.
his fingers fucked up into you, curling when they were deep enough, and making your body lurch forward. “again.” you needed to feel that again. the fingers on your clit went a little faster, because you knew you were close. “again.”
and he did it again, hitting that spot that made you clench around him, and he kept doing it, and your fingers kept moving, you were progressively getting louder, but it didn’t matter as you were getting closer to coming as well.
and you did, body tensing up and every nerve in your body pinching, mouth dropped open and eyes rolling to the back of your head as your hand came to hover just over your mouth just in case any sound left you.
you slumped over onto the table, pulsing around armin’s fingers but your own slipping out of your skirt and onto the space of the chair your legs made.
armin finally let out a stupid small laugh, his soaked fingers finally leaving your sloppy cunt and entering his mouth, tongue twirling around your release. it was a shame you weren’t looking.
you could hear it though, the obnoxiously loud slurping sounds he made and the hum of content he made before popping his fingers out his mouth. what you couldn’t hear was the tape. it must’ve stopped in the middle of armin fingering you.
and you also heard the slide of armin’s chair against the floor of the library, the sound of a book cover meeting it’s back, and the shoving of books into a bag.
armin looked over his shoulder with a bored expression, one that was eerily similar to the look you had given him just earlier when you were bored of studying.
your eyes met his; eyes still calm and lips in a line once more... “i can’t study anymore. let’s just go.”

I am This Close to watching the untamed
So if you want to perhaps yell about it or something (since you’ve gotten me into stuff that way before) that could be cool idk
OH MY GOD PLEASE WATCH IT
okay to start with. the live action show is very good and a great place to start but it has some important differences from the novel and the donghua (animated show). i personally prefer a combination of cql (the untamed/the live action, that's the acronym i'll be using for it from now on) and the donghua; the novel suffers a lot of lost in translation effect and whatnot and i personally dislike the way the relationship is built in several places in it as opposed to how the adaptations do it, but it's definitely still worth reading. (dm me on discord if you want a copy of a pretty good fan translation of the novel and also like, a link to a place you can watch the donghua, btw.) other problems with cql: censorship hits the live action the hardest and their budget was i'm pretty sure basically nonexistent (they very clearly spent most of it on the costumes and the props, which you know what, the costumes are fucking stunning so great choice). so they changed the worldbuilding some and like.... the fight scenes? are really not good. they're really not good. also the special effects are universally pretty bad. it can make watching some parts of it difficult to get through, and there are some plot elements that are changed as well that i dislike, and a lot of the moral greyness of the original story had to get removed because again, censorship issues (if you want the most accurate, non-morally-whitewashed take first, you'll want to start with the novel, which is also what has the explicitly gay stuff). it's also not explicitly gay - but the actors played it as gay and there are multiple marriage metaphors and holy fuck like. honestly. there doesn't need to be a kiss or a confession or anything it's REALLY FUCKING GAY.
what cql excels in is its character interactions. the acting is absolutely stunning, the soundtrack is beautiful, and every single scene is just done with so much heart and emotion in it. so definitely keep that in mind going into it. i've watched it all the way through i think 3 or 4 times and i still keep seeing new fun details in the background that i hadn't noticed before.
the donghua, on the other hand, has an absolutely stunning art style, very very good voice acting, the worldbuilding and plot are more accurate to the book, and the magic and combat scenes are much more realistic for a fantasy and the powers they have. however, it, especially specifically the third and final season, is very rushed (and it has its own plot changes to fit how much they had to condense things, mostly just in the second half of season 3) and excludes some details, so it can be confusing if you don't know what you're seeing first. i recommend either watching cql or reading the novel first, then watching the donghua!
in terms of like, actual fandom stuff! so the main character of mdzs is, obviously, Wei Wuxian. i'm not sure how much you know but he's like. an incredibly ADHD man with horrible self-worth issues (despite being arrogant as hell) and a very strong sense of justice who is extremely brilliant and goes through a shitton of tragedy. he is known for inventing a viable form of necromancy, which is considered incredibly heretical and, among other things, gets him killed, and then gets him resurrected, so you know. pros and cons. he does magic by playing the flute. he is a disaster bisexual and also a bit of an alcoholic (okay a lot of an alcoholic) and i love him. his love interest is stoic and serious and incredibly autistic-coded and has been in love with him since they were teenagers and literally wrote him a love song. the two of them get trapped in a cave together and have to kill an ancient corrupted divine monster without weapons. it's very romantic. wei wuxian as a younger teenager is basically the epitome of a child pulling a girl's pigtails because he has a crush and is desperate for attention.
anyway, i'm not sure how much you know about the plot, but there's two timelines going on - the present and the past. the present is after wei wuxian is resurrected, and he and lan wangji (the love interest, in case you haven't picked up on the names yet - everyone has like two or three names and it can be hard to tell them apart at first) are basically going on a fun little murder mystery quest while also babysitting a bunch of teenagers which then abruptly devolves into politics, murder, more politics, and more murder. the past on the other hand goes from a high school definitely-not-a-romance to a goddamn war drama to politics and back to. hm. not exactly a war drama anymore but i'm really not sure how to describe everything that happens after a certain event. it's all very much a tragedy and the real "villain" of the story (which is less obvious in cql, again because of moral whitewashing due to censorship, though honestly i feel like they did a pretty good job of staying as true to the source material as they could all things considered, a whole lot of the scenes were word for word from the novel just slightly edited to fit the adjusted worldbuilding or plot changes) is the mob mentality, rumors and gossip and hearsay, and society itself!
lastly, because i am trying not to overwhelm you here, i am going to link you a couple great amvs i've found on youtube that will probably not make a lot of sense without context but will at least hopefully intrigue you?
youtube
and
youtube
and
youtube
the other one i really want to link i cannot because it definitely will make absolutely no sense without having watched the show and so you have to come talk to me when you've finished it so i can give it to you. also hey please feel free to come dm me on discord i Will ramble at length about this. especially about wwx he is my BLORBO and currently taking up residence in my brain. and also i need your live reactions if/when you start watching things oh my god
be glad it's almost 2 am and i'm still recovering from my covid booster or this would be even longer
#asked and answered#long post#i am not apologizing actually#mdzs#i want to yell more but i don't want to spoil things and i also don't want to sound totally deranged#i mean i am deranged but like. plausible deniability here#anyway he plays a FLUTE ginger. to do NECROMANCY. in the live action they didn't do this but#in the donghua you get to see his eyes go red when he does it and it is WONDERFUL#also he goes through so much trauma and there's like. a whole entire war which he wins basically singlehandedly#because of the necromancy. while having a prolonged fight with his not-boyfriend who he had a not-breakup with after he came back from#a three month disappearance (in which he did some Marinating in Spooky Hell Energy) after which he reappeared with a glowup#and a murder flute that he raised the dead with. so like honestly it's not unreasonable that lwj was concerned#wwx is just incapable of handling things normally. like ever. also has no emotional intelligence when it's other people's feelings for him#ANYWAY this man has like all of my mental illnesses but Worse i'm so attached to him <3#wow i completely failed in not sounding insane huh

Musical December I: Singin’ in the Rain (1952) - Review
Well...this movie is perfect.
I know, I KNOW, this is the lazy answer, it would seem. But I mean it...this is an amazing film, and I genuinely can’t find any flaws with it. Like, seriously. I’m making this post as a formality, but there’s very little for me to say here. It’s an excellent musical, it’s an excellent film, it’s just excellent.
But OK, I’ll do a breakdown, I promise. It’s a good opportunity to test something out. See, given the fact that I’m covering musicals at the moment, it’s a good chance to change up the review scheme just a little bit. Here’re the changes:
Cast and Acting: Still basically the same, but singing talent and ability will now be included in the criteria for judgement.
Plot and Writing: This is in reference to the overarching plot, the use of music within the plot, and the writing during the spoken portions. Songwriting will be covered elsewhere.
Directing, Cinematography, and Choreography: Just what it looks like; we’re adding choreography to this category.
Production Design and Editing: We’re folding these together this time around. Why? Well...
The Songbook: Yeah, this has to be its own category, since we’re talking about musicals. Obviously, a proper songbook is also a part of writing and choreography, but this category is focused upon the quality of the songs in and of themselves. So, the songbook gets its own category.
And with that...
Check out Parts One and Two for the Recap!
Review
Cast and Acting: 10/10
God, I love these guys. Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor, and Debbie Reynolds are, individually and together, some of the most enjoyable and charming protagonists I’ve ever seen in a musical. I genuinely love seeing them interact whenever on screen, and in any combination of the three characters. They’re genuinely perfect in terms of their interpersonal chemistry, and just a genuine delight.
And obviously, they’re not the only notable actors in the film. Millard Mitchell shines in the latter half of the film, Cyd Charisse ekes mystique in the “Broadway Montage” sequence, and Jean Hagen...holy shit, Jean Hagen. Jean Hagen is a funny and despicable villain in this movie, and I grew to love her squeaky-ass voice (which is not her real voice, of course). She’s a horrible and petty person, but I had a lot of fun watching her. I had no problems with anyone at any point, seriously.
Plot and Writing: 10/10
The plot is fantastic, and well-done. But the writing! OH, THE WRITING! For a musical film, for a member of a genre with no obligation to use spoken words to get plot and story across, the writing in this movie has no business being as funny as it is! Not only do actors like O’Connor, Kelly, and Hagen say them with such perfect timing and grace, but writers Adolph Green and Betty Comden just genuinely wrote a funny-ass movie! God, some of the lines in this movie are amazing. Any interaction between Hagen and Kelly is bound to be funny in it pure acridity. And O’Connor is just constantly funny. Just...fuck, I love this movie.
Directing, Cinematography, and Choreography: 10/10
THIS MOVIE HAS NO BUSINESS LOOKING THIS GOOD. From Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen’s amazing direction and choreography, all the way to Harold Rosson and his cinematography, the look of this movie is stellar from bottom to top. And I do mean how the film is shot and composed, to be clear. Not only are there some downright gorgeous shots, but the way that the musical numbers and dances are filmed is masterful. That is, of course, on top of the already masterful dance numbers. I will gush about Kelly and O’Connor until the day I die, and about the Cocteau-esque ballet sequence far after that point. It’s stellar. And that still isn’t including the next category!
Production Design and Editing: 10/10
Y;know, I considered giving this one a 9/10, purely on Adrienne Fazan and her editing. That’s because of the Broadway sequence, because I’d roginally thought that it was too long. But honestly, real fucking talk? It’s still a beautiful and flawless sequence! It drags a little, but I wouldn’t skip it at all! And if I were showing this film to anybody for the first time, I’d laud this entire sequence! The production design is stellar throughout the movie, but this sequence is particularly spectacular on that front. So, yeah, even the thing I like the least about the film is STILL too good for me to take a point off. Production and art design are fucking flawless.
The Songbook: 10/10
...WELL? WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT FROM ME, IT’S SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN, FOR CHRISSAKES
Yeah, it’s perfect! The songbook, for literally being cobbled together from older songs and movies, is executed absolutely perfectly. It’s so utterly flawless, that the songs aren’t associated with any other musical but this one! It’s a jukebox musical that broke the fucking jukebox! And during these sections, by the way, I’ll be going into my favorite song of the musical. And for this one, that’s a nearly impossible question. “Singin’ in the Rain” is obviously a timeless classic. I’m a huge sucker for “Good Mornin'” as well, and both “Fit as a Fiddle (And Ready for Love)” and “Moses Supposes” are fun as hell. But I said this was a nearly impossible question.
Holy shit, do I love this song, and this scene.
This is, without a doubt, my favorite song in the film. Not only is the song memorable and a lot of fun, but Donald O’Connor’s vocal and physical performance will never leave me. It’s genuinely one of my favorite sequences in any film, and I love it more than I could possibly express. God...God, I love this movie.
Yeah. 100%. Genuinely one of my top favorites.
Which, yeah, is crazy for the first musical of the month. How in the hell am I gonna top this? Understand, this movie is amazing. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend watching it at least once. I’m gonna watch it far more than that. This is one of those movies that, if it’s on, I’m watching it. It’s just unabashedly joyous and happy, and I can’t resist movies like that. Has no business being this good, but it is.
It’s moments like this that I wonder if I’m exaggerating. Maybe the emotions from the film are still lingering, and maybe time will temper my judgement. But I genuinely don’t think so. Just in case, I’ll go into the next one. Gonna be another film from the ‘50s, another film from the long list of musicals I should’ve seen by now, and another musical prominently starring a ghost singer. And finally...it’s a film that I am a little scared to watch.
Next: The King and I (1956), dir. Walter Lang

Reaction to Matilda The Musical on Netflix
This is a completely live writtwn reaction, my opinion may change after watching it (*cough* school for good and evil *cough*), and my only knowledge of Matilda is that one movie where Ms.Trunchbull throws that one girl by the pigtails.
Warnings: Spoilers, swearing, caps, 0 context given
sonny boiii
Pretty pony
How many logos are in this thing
Why is there a Wonka bar?
I get that it's Roald Dahl but why didn't they have a picture of the book Matilda and then open it so it says Roald Dahl instead of a Wonka bar? This isn't Charlie and the Choco Factory bruv
I like the music right after that happens its like a music box
Oh thats a cute quote
Oh this is so cute the little baby kids
I like this song so far, they're praising their kids while still being like "Yeah it's a bit rude for us to say our baby is better but look! They're raising their fist slightly! Adorable!"
Ok the children voices at the beginning were like raw like an actual child singing (like not an actor kid yanno?) But now it's all harmonized and very pretty
A whole song about parents loving their kids saying their miracles and the first line is "I'm not having a baby" lol
Perfect timing and I love the cinematography all the parents walking down the hall in the center of the camera with their babies
Is she the judge from a series of Unfortuanate Events? Go off queen, deny your pregnancy
Stop singing this woman is giving birth bruv! Your a doctor get back in your scrubs!
wow the most common thing in life is life? Wowwww
Ok Rafiki, put down the baby this ain't Lion King
"My son is a girl?" Parents when their mtf kid comes out the closet
But the balloons say boy! Give that baby sex change surgery right now doctor! Get the hormones started early!
Mrs.Wormwood looks traumatized lmao I love her
you can tell their good singers that are being bad on person to fit their characters and I love it
Also the way the Missus is holding the baby like it's a big burrito and not a fragile human life? It sends me, it's giving soon-to-be-dropped child
Mister W really said winky dink like that's a term anyone uses lmao
I love this set it's so cool the stacks, the choreography is so cool
Many kids: My mommy says I'm a miracle! straight to Just Matilda: My mummy says I'm a lousy little worm, I love the juxtaposition
Especially that everything in the other scene was orderly and clean and kinda minimalist and bright and now it's like reality it's a bit messy it's kind of empty almost despite being full of stuff while the other place was only filled with people but could otherwise be called empty
Is she on top of a food truck?
Oh it's a pop up library
Oh yeah my parents LOVE me at home. Live your fantasies hun, hope the coping mechanism works until you can get some proper therapy
I love the conflict with the parents
Not the complete misinterpretation of a very simple quote Mr.W you are something else
They said homeschooling and I think the school inspector and who I assume from the preview Netflix shows is Ms.Honey are immediately like "oh... is that so..."
They can clock that these two have a combined iq of 4
"What do you teach her" "Make up and welding" wow well that sure follows the school curriculum
Also it just hit me now that Mr.W called Matilda a boy like she hasn't been a girl for... what 10 years? Idk how old she is
Aw Ms.Honey and Matilda first interaction
School-schooled
Intense wow your really selling school school
Matilda you ducking nerd
Ms.H rides a bike? Why didn't the school inspector offer her a ride? Smh chivalry is dead
Did it ever occur to them they could put her up for adoption? I know the system can be fucked and im no expert but I think it might be better for her rather than living with 2 parents who literally say she ruins their life. Like they don't have an aunt or uncle to pawn her off on?
I love this song, it's so matilda
Girl your talking about how their fates are inevitable because they were written for them and then your questioning why the characters with no free will aren't changing their story? Hun I thought you were smart?
Ok unnecessary cartwheels
A little bit naughty? Sounds like foreshadowing to a song we all know from tiktok. Is Matilda gonna be red beret girl or something? Or is this a repeated line? I think it's the latter
Imagine Matilda cuts and dyes her hair, I'd scream lol
Not the sneaking into the parents bedroom to jump on the bed
Bear it as she falls into a pile of bears, that's wonderful
This seems to be a very pink, plushie filled room. It seems like the room Marilda would've gotten if her parents gave a shit about her
THE BLEACH
GIRL YOURE FONNA FALL GET DOWN
GET OFF THE ROOF
Why is his hair green? Shouldn't it be blond
Gymnastics star Matilda with the walking handstand
Superhero pose!
Sneaky little one
Shes making up a story on her way to school what a cutie
I love this library lady she's so nice
Ok this story is not as cute as it was when she was just making up a Lil love story
That's a long ass title for a circus trick, kinda gives away what the trick is but Matilda is a child so that's understandable
Like they literally went insane cause they didn't have a baby
"Don't get in trouble" says library lady. "Unless it'd be a good thing" says Matilda. She may be a girl but she's got balls
Oh the little newt how precious
If anything, you know. No I don't know
Red beret!
Ok French tragedy calm down
I saw this song on tiktok too, as a promo for the movie
These kids are so good ohmigod
I love the use of the alphabet and how it's very natural and not forced and it's literally just repeating the first half but now they're pointing out the letters
The one girl in the window making the cutting off the head motion lmao
I recognize Marildas little friend I think
Why are these kids in the boiler room?
Lavender I think I remember her from the other movie
Nigel calm down its math you doing even have to do
Why are all the kids so keen on cleaning the board
Its like a holiday in your head, that great bit did the rest of the class manage to get the book your reading for school?
Also who tf reads Moby dick for fun Matilda your allowed to read fun books, get this girl a geronimo Stilton or two on me
An exception to the rules? Goddammit you just gave that girl a fucking death sentence
As evidenced by this song
Oh course this school has a color guard that trunchbull runs
I think it's a weird choice for her to be waving a white flag though, idk the significance in like color guard or flag waving or whatever but she never surrenders so I think a different color would've been better. Maybe red because of her aggression
Or green to match her military uniform that she's wearing despite her never bring in the military I think
OMG MR.W LOOKS LIKE AN OOMPA LOOMPA
THATS WHY THEY HAD THE WONKA BAR, HES GONNA GET RECRUITED TO THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY
Stip misgendering your daughter it's been ages since she was born
Lol him struggling to do the whole book at once
THE HAT AND THE GLUE YASSS GIRLIE
Big stupid, then struggles eith the lock
Telekinipsis
Pigtail girl and eater boy!
Not the chokey O.o
The chokey is a literal iron maiden in the woods, how is this legal? How did Trunchbull not get shut down
Matilda Wormwood, professional liar. Love it
All the kids immediately agreeing with Matilda is great
Wow if Trunchbull hates pigtails then she must hate that one kid dancer who has dreadlocks
Chrck and see if the kid is still alive, HOW IS SHE IN CHARGE OF A SCHOOL?!
A promise is a promise is a promise
That was such a good transition, so seamless
And straight to the carnival where the trick will be how great
Trunchbull as the evil step sister love
She finally has a child and they cancel the show ♡
But I'm sure the evil step sister will be doing something
I was right
Pit down the contract Ursula
A contract is a contract is a contract, I love callbacks
I thought she was gonna make them fall in the shark water but go off little miss letter of the law
Excuse me you're gonna have to wait til tommorow for the next bit, you don't have enough coins to buy the next episode early bitch
Art imitates life and Mrs.Phelps is catching onto Matildas shtick
Ok not only is she a genius and a storyteller and a gymnast but also a amazing artist? What's next? Is she the next Masterchef or something
Not me being jealous of a child
Did she just cross out the child of the acrobat and the escapologist? Is she gonna kill them? I love that for her
That food looks so gross and mushy and yuck
I think it's useful rice tho lol
Awww I love Ms.H she is the only one looking out for these children
She said move and they immediately dissembled the lunch table lmao
Ah yeah Matilda is truly the anti christ how dare she be smart
You have 2 choices, be punished or be punished
The belch heard around the world, you covered your mouth too late babe
Not the air bubble
Brucie boyyyyy your about to eat a fuck ton of cake baby Boi
Oh that actually looks very good, a very nice cake indeed
not the pact with Satan lmaoooo
Hunky this is a pact with beelzebub, learn your demons babe
Im getting thrown in the chokey for this
The dancing behind Trunchbulls back, so well choreographed and this song is so fun
Do they think his name is spelled Brooce?
Wtf lmao
These kids are so good
The cuts to Matilda who is clearly in a different place than all the dancing kids and her being stagnant is really setting her apart as the mc
I thought the cherry would hit trunchbull in the face but it went to Bruce instead
Ok calm down Ms.H, he didn't invent the cure for cancer, he got diabetes
you goddamnliar he ate that all
Yes Matilda tell her off! You're gonna get thrown in the chokey tho
Stop playing tug a war with a child
Stranger things have happened everybody thinks I'm crazyyyyy
Its getting to the point of the film where I don't have to pause every two minutes anymore
These kids singing about grown up things that actually are just teenage things
Most grown ups I know go to bed at like 9 and ngl, that's just my mom and one aunt
I like Ms.h having a verse for grown up I think it really shows how you're never grown up, cause your always growing even when you are an adult
I like all the call backs that Matilda makes while telling her story you can see how her life affects her story
THEY DID IT
nevermind
She died in childbirth omg Matilda you dark bitch I live for you
Wait is the acrobat Ms.H or am I racist
LETS CALL THE POLICE even if it's a story because it really is not
Youve lived with your parents for how long to not know they are cheats
Matilda I love you and your a child so I won't you insult you this time on this matter
I love her story, she's the escapologists daughter that's so cute
Shes got something to fear
Theres still an hour left in this and really the only development is in Matildas made up story but honestly this movie is interesting enough for me not to care.
The escapologist is a telekinetic and then he died in a car crash ig
She broke the trash can just like the escapologist did
I took a break here to go eat dinner so friendly reminder that you all should do that too
Actually fuck that here's a FORCEFUL reminder to EAT AND SUSTAIN YOUR BODY or else THE TRUNCHBULL will come and THROW YOU BY YOUR PIGTAILS >:(
wtf is going on
Ihhh their thanking her for standing up to trunchbull
The lights dim when she walks in the room
Thats right kids change in the middle of a public hall where anyone can see you, trunchbull is a pedophile for that
Ew that's so gross
Girl why are still wearing your pigtails she literally tried to kill you
DID SHE JUST SET OFF AN EXPLOSIVE OMG
SHE DID OHMIGOD WHO FUCKING HURT YOU BITCH
Ok no need to flex on the literal children
Just say you wanted the role of Ms.Hannigan from Annie and move on T
You can do that you look old enough to retire, go to the forest no one will miss you
Calm the duck down bitch they are like 4
The scoreboard with Agatha v Maggots is lovely detail
You tell her Ms.H! Cut her throat!
Yeah no shit she's wet it's raining
YOU FUCKING PYSCHO PUT HIM DOWN
Trunchbull should've been put down years ago on God
Someone call the police please
Hun your explaining overstimulation and unfortuanately you're trauma makes you involuntarily rip yourself away into your little castle on the cloud in order to cope
Code red code red someone get a therapist cause all these kids are gone need it cause when her balloon pops and she comes back to eatth trunchbulll is gonna kill Matilda and all these kiddos are gonna watch
She legit just threatened to tear apart that child someone call the cops
Theirs a newt in her panties
What Trunchybee you don't have a newt-in-the-knickers kink? Sad
Oh thats so embarrassing it's not- oh it is working
Everyone clap now, she lifted a cup! Thats not sarcasm, clap in your bedroom or bathroom or bus that your resding this in
Miss Honey is like, hm this bitch is a bit crazy but I'll go with it
Matilda keeps quoting people that feels neurodivergent somehow
Tuberculosis is an asshole for presenting her grieving niece with a fuckung bill, you know she was taking care of her everyday and writing in a notebook "she chewed the electrical cord that'll be 14 euros." Insgead of being like THE BABY IS CHEWING ON THE CORD OMG
TB killed Ms.Hs daddy oof
I just fell in love with this asbestos ridden, mice infected, dirty little shack with a roof that's might give in and end my misery at any time
The spirit of nick diramio is slowly possessing me
It may be enough but dare to dream bigger babe
This isn't your house this is your shack, I'm not being mean, she caled it a whack first
Ita a different little girl now, Matilda isn't the baby girl anymore
Maybe Ms.H is the daughter and that's why we're seeing these flashbacks
I FUCKING CALLED IT BITCHES
1 second before it happened I fucking called it
Trunchbull is gonna rip your head off baby girl listen to ms.h
Matilda first look at the chokey
Is she gonna kill chokey? She exploded the chokester ooh
Oh don't worry baby your the main character it's all gonna be OK
Practicing telekinesis on the way to school nice
Oh no not the only play structure
Whats with the sandbags? She's gonna hang the children isn't she
How do you know how to spell? We dont teach rhat until the 11th grade!
YOU FUCKING DUMB BITCH YOUR GONNA KILL A CHILD FOR YOUR FUCKING EGO
You go kiddos spell those words wrong fuck her up
You said rebellion when there wasn't one and now you've got one congrats.
Oh it was for the dramatic reveal of a fuckton of chokeys
Your fucking insane bitch
Maybe I should read the book this is crazy and I heard somewhere it's more accurate to the book than the other movie
GET HER MATILDA
Hang her like she wants to hang you
She made a monster version of Magnus! And he's destroying the chokeys ♡
We love to see it
Matilda fucking girlbossing out here
HER HAIR IS POGTAILS! How terrible shut tf up trunchbitch
HELL YEAH JENNY
Wait but where's the naughty song from tiktok it feels like that should've been part of the revolution but I guess it's the resolution song
Is Bruce wearing a fat suit? His body doesn't fit his legs or face its all just his stomach
Hun Trunchbull already left where you revolting now
The revolution is over it was all Matilda yall are a bit late
The misspelled words and I thought red beret would be more of a character instead she's just a dancer ig
I will say that this is a great number and I love it
I feel like the should've shown red beret get thrown in the chokey and then she would've felt like an actual character. Maybe she was trapped in there and Matilda got her out and then she exploded the chokey
Also pigtails should've changed hairstyles after being almost killed I get its her defining character trait but still she's just stupid to keep wearing them
He stills can't get his stupid hat off lol
I was thinking why is she sitting on the driving wheel side? Then I remembered this is British
HE SAID DAUGHTER?! OH MY GOD THERE IS A FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING ♡♡♡
Ok well can you say it louder your standing 5 feet apart from everyone and no one can hear you
Awww she took off his hat ♡
So sweet
Wait what about her clothes and books and possessions? We saw she had a room chock full of them where did those go?
Tthe first check ms.h gets to keep is all going towards Matilda getting new clothes
Awww the babyhold
Shes telling library lady the rest of the story with its new happy ending
Trunchbull did not take good care of this house
Ew the big friendly school? Did you let the kids choose the name?
This feels like the part where I'm supposed to cry but I'm not getting the tears this emotional end feels like it's had not build up because there is no real scenes of honey and Matilda connecting, it's all just rushing from on point to another. Maybe it's cause I'm writing this commentary tho
Why is there a giraffe?
Overall this was a very cute, sweet, beautiful beautiful beautiful movie
All the songs were well sung and the actors were amazing

Malcolm and Marie live blog
I don't usually do liveblogs for movies but yea.
Spoilers ahead!!
I love that its modern timed but very 70s stylized.
A tune indeed.
When you are high and drunk on success and
How the white critic reacts is why I feel like gatekeeping my scripts. At the same time some things I do make are about race or involve.
Marie sitting on the patio smoking is a mood whenever men are talking.
So he's pretentious and unaware.
Whoever chose the music for this, I feel like we would be Spotify mutuals.
Can this nigga stop pacing.
Also can he stop talking;
Marie is so tired and unimpressed.
Also little booties matter and are to be bitten.
Oooo the tension and the jazz.
Title Card over mac and cheese.
Shitty boxes mac and cheese but still mac and cheese.
Tbh i always wonder if spouses/significant others get upset when their spouses don't acknowledge them during speeches.
John sounds so much like his dad but I really hope his acting style differs from his dad a lot.
Guilty confession?
He did not profit off of his partners backstory and then not even acknowledge her.....I.....
If that ever happened to me catch me cussing my partner out during the beginning credits, the end credits, in the car, and at home.
GASLIGHTER!
The way I'm excited for Zendaya to give me some, oooo can she work with Regina King. Please on my knees I pray.
Um no that's not your job to coddle your lead.
He's a dick and the type of dick who makes himself look like a good person around other people.
If Sam Levinson is trying to make his viewers more of misandrist, it's working.
I feel like Marie has her flaws probably a lot of them and we will surely see as this continues, but Malcolm needs to learn how to apologize sincerely.
70s vibes! 70s vibes!
Them kissing and talking about criticism and dreams makes me miss a partner. A partner that I've had and haven't had.
Women really are behind every great man.
Yea sir you fucked a happy moment.
Oh visual allegories for looking in from the outside and cat and mouse chasing and looking from the outside in.
She's saying she doesn't feel noticed by you.
Gas lighter :0 he called her an emotional support dog, bruh.
I would LOVE to co-write or take a writing class held by Sam Levinson. The fights i write are very much in this same realm of reflection and anger and monologue.
Sam.....sam.....are all the sides inside of you doing okay sir?
The ugly side of dating and being in a relationship with someone who struggles with their own demons.
Honestly I could close my eyes and listen to this script being read without seeing these characters visually. Just close my eyes and get a sense of these characters like it was a radio story.
Oh. Oh this is a new wheelhouse of Zendaya acting; a different voice is like breaking through here and her expressions aren't the same we are used to. You can literally hear another character in there....hmm.
Mans is outside really fighting with his invisible demons lmfao.
Selfish ass, how after everything she said you came out of it thinking about your own craft and self instead of how you hurt her.
So she's conditional.
Me: did sam (a white man) say nigga this many times in his script or are the actors adding their own inflections. Not just the lingo used but the topic of race and directing etc. being written by a white writer about black characters is always gonna be a critique when you're writer is a white person.
Alexa play Broken Girls by Saba
He is so hurtful.
A clown nigga a clown look in the fucking mirror you bozo head ass looking like you need some Mehron clown white and a size 16 in clown shoes.
John is doing a really swell performance and reading of these lines.
He is reading her for her insecurities by bringing up his experiences with other women and that.....is yikes.
Arguments can get messy like this in real life but it takes a lot of maturity and control to either not let it get to this point or have a healthy conversation afterwards.
This film is really shot on some very crisp lenses.
They sitting there like 🚬🧍♀️🧍️.
Leftover Mac and Cheese and unfinished cigarettes.
The nyt etc. pay walls are so annoying, but there is a work around look at the articles on incognito or add a period at the end of the url.
He sounds like his daddy so much here, weird, this is the only part I'm eh on the dialogue it feels real but a bit out of pace in how they are bouncing off one another.
Nail scissors? So the end is not the only part he based off of Marie. 🙄
ITS A GOOD REVIEW YOU DINGUS but also its a full review they are going to critique things. She isn't wrong though he did profit off of a woman's story that was not his own to profit from.
Yes Malcolm because unfortunately all marginalized people look through a lens of life that is inherently political because of the world they live in.
He is so mad and upset and had a lot on his chest. But I think he Malcolm and Sam are talking about something thats an issue and a non issue. Being critiqued for you art is hard but also Malcolm is not super self aware. He's like a stand in figure of for example rich depop sellers who wanna be oppressed so badly they yell at others instead of examining their own personal behaviors and ethics.
Oh Marie, when you know the spark is gone and you pick fights because.
He ain't even ask her to read?
One critic I have for most of hollywood actors is they learn their cry and that is it. A change from this is Margot Robbie, I adore her fluctuations of crying being similar but the crying is carried differently for each character. If I had to say any actor that does a cry scene amazing its this woman right here (Amy Adams)
You stole her story from her and gave it away, she has a right to be upset and angry and a rubber band ball of emotions.
Citizen Kane, not the cinematography, but the story is it even that good? (Unpopular opinion but meh, maybe in my rewatch it will be better.)
But that is what people want authenticity and whatever authenticity means to them. What is real for one is false for another.
To be honest look at the criticism of Euphoria, well earned, but a lot of people were like this isn't real even though he literally wrote about his own life. People said it was inauthentic like....wtf.
Ahh the smoking is just a habit, he quit and she didn't.
CAST ZENDAYA IN A HORROR MOVIE PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING. Get Lupita and Zendaya and some more black actors preferably less known ones in a horror movie. One with a interesting script and story, directed by Regina King. Please and thankyou.
I love Marie yep that was amazing.
Behind every great man is a greater woman, one that deserves her credit for how she has stood behind. I wonder the stories of those women, what they have sacrificed or not sacrificed. Their thoughts and feelings when the world is surrounding their partner and views them as a plus one. (I'd write a short script about this but I think do I have the time, can I, or am I equipped ?)
He is a shitty person for bringing up his exes, like she even said I don't wanna know any of that.
Imagine being on anti depressents and rarely having a sex drive and then when you do your partner starts talking about their exes and tearing you apart for all your faults.
I love when you see peaks of Zendaya's cadence in roles.
Tension, what if's and he didn't even bring her up in his speech.
Marie to herself and the audience:
He is not afraid that he will loose her but as my character says in my unreleased story, "i can't wait til you give me a fucking reason to leave your ass." Malcolm expects everything in order for not even doing the bare minimum and she is only asking him for something as simple as consideration. She just wants him to be considerate. He wants to get married and considers their relationship like rolling down a hill at full speed and he cannot apologize, he cannot be considerate, and he cannot admit his wrongs. He can only offer her I love yous that he probably does mean but he does not back up outside of what he's done for her in the past. The past which was more of her experience than his and he sees his part in it as a burden. He doesn't use his own vantage point of the past to further his career he uses her. He does all of these things without a real apology or thankyou because he is not afraid to loose her.
The restrictions of quarantine and the panorama have made Sam's writing very no frills. I wonder how other films from other directors and writers that are filmed in small contained crews like this will be structured. But this was a very good movie gonna add to my letter box 3.3-3.5
Oh shit this is my song,
Ratings/overall thoughts:
Script is like a C+, B- : I could go into my heavier big brain thoughts on the script but I don't feel like it. You catch hints of it above it centers conversation on race and privilege, mainly the writers and questions i have that won't be answered but Sam did make me grow disdain for Malcolm over a short time. Which is sometimes hard to do because im one sympathetic person but the sympathy i have for Malcolm is at 0. Maybe a 2 at some scenes but then it quickly goes back to 0. Some parts of the dialogue miss the mark or hit the are off balanced. While some of it like Malcolm's bathroom speech albeit mean is really strong or their conversation when he comes back from peeing really shines for me.
Performances: B+ to A- because they carried the script further than it could of gone with less talented actors. The monologues do well to showcase their current skill levels which are already high af and leave room for anticipation in where these actors go next.
Zendaya holding a knife: A+ with a gold star. That switch on and off and on is delectable.
John being a shitty boyfriend but following Marie like a lost puppy: B+ with a good job written at the bottom of the paper, Malcolm being nervous a frantic dialed up with more realistic nervousness would have sold me completely on Malcolm's anxious waiting.
Cinematography: A and a participation award.
The mac and cheese: A+ for the easy mac. Wish it was like Annie's or Velveeta.
Cigarettes: Participation award and their picture hung up for student of the month. Why the grill lighter? Everytime Malcolm opened up his mouth Marie was like sparks fly.
The music: A++ with a prize. Whoever picked the music probably makes good Spotify playlists.

bless i can't write anything straightforward or normal to save my life
33. Celebrity/Fan AU (modern AU, singer Obi-Wan)(1.8k)
Obi-Wan had only wanted to cook, really.
He’d decided on Tuesday night that he would take Friday off as a sort of self-care day. He needed it. In the midst of a world tour, finally with a week to breathe back in his home city, he’d wanted to relax for a day. One day without music or an audience of any kind, just him in an apartment filled mostly with dusty counters and almost expired foods.
He loves his fans, because of course he loves his fans. He loves the fact that people relate to what he writes enough to listen to his albums, although he has gone through several different sounds over the course of his career. He loves that he can be 39 and still touring the world, even though he started his career as a 13-year-old-child-actor turned teen-pop-sensation turned serious musician turned perhaps-washed-up-serious-musician turned very-much-serious-musician-actually-this-time.
If not for his fans, he wouldn’t be able to afford this house on the outskirts of his town. He wouldn’t be able to boast his performances in three-fourths of the world’s major cities. He wouldn’t be able to continue to have a career. No. He loves his fans.
It’s just that sometimes he doesn’t. Sometimes he just wants peace and quiet, a moment to himself, where he can float away without concerning himself with the flow of the setlist, the timing of the encore, the lyrics and rhythms of songs he wrote a decade ago when he was practically a different person.
It’s just such a shame that Obi-Wan leaves the handle of the wooden spoon too close to the stove’s open flame when he stirs and adjusts the heat to low for an hour so he can go soak off his stress in the bath.
It’s just such a shame that the smoke alarms from the kitchen cannot be heard over the music he’s playing in the master bath.
Obi-Wan sinks beneath the water, enjoying the unyielding pressure. He doesn’t want to retire, he tells himself. He has so many more songs to write. Sure, he hasn’t written an actual good song in two years and people are starting to notice. Sure, the intense scrutiny is driving him up the wall and killing anything creative that he’s ever harbored in his soul. Sure, his muscles and bones ache and he had almost had a breakdown the other day when he first walked through the door of his home and couldn’t remember if there was a bathroom on the first floor, but.
But he doesn’t want to retire yet. He just has to admit he’s waning, even to himself. Whatever inspiration he had has been used up or otherwise escaped. All he has now to his name are songs that have already been sung.
He doesn’t know how long he spends in the bath, really. Long enough that the album changes twice. Long enough that his fingers prune up and his eyes grow lax. Long enough that he tells himself that no matter how soothing the lavender essence is, it would be very dangerous for him to fall asleep in the bath because the news articles alone would be enough to raise him from the dead only to strike him down again.
(Long enough for the wooden spoon’s handle next to the pot to catch on fire. Long enough for that fire to burn down to the oil on the spoon itself. Long enough for the dishtowel it was resting on to ignite as well.)
The smoke alarm clues in before Obi-Wan does.
Luckily, Obi-Wan had paid extra for a smoke alarm that, when registering a certain threshold of smoke, sends a notification to the closest fire department.
Luckily, this all happens while Obi-Wan is unaware, but before he becomes in peril.
He actually remains unaware of the whole thing right up until the moment a fully-suited firefighter kicks through the door of his bathroom.
That’s when he jerks up, very unceremoniously. “Fucking Chr--what?” he shouts, raising a hand to cover his exposed chest for reasons unknown.
“Obi--??” the masked firefighter starts to say, in something akin to shock, but like Obi-Wan is going to give ground here and now. He’s cornered the market on shock on this occasion, thanks much.
“What the--”
“Your house is on fire!” the man yells over him, looking around the bathroom wildly until he sees a fluffy off-white bathrobe hanging by a hook near the door. He throws it at Obi-Wan, who just catches it before it can get wet.
“My house is what?” Obi-Wan splutters, standing automatically to put on the piece of clothing. The helmet of the firefighter turns away to give him privacy. Despite himself, he finds it rather endearing. He ties the belt around his waist tightly, stepping out of the tub.
As soon as he’s out of the water, the other man swoops him up and over his shoulder. Obi-Wan lets out a scream which he’ll probably be absolutely mortified about later.
But now, what’s more distressing is the way his body is responding to the hold he’s been placed in. He’s thirty-nine years old. He’s definitely too old for this. He should definitely know better than to be even slight aroused by such a display of...strength and stalwartness and--
The man walks him out of the bathroom and the very first thing he notices is the heat that hits his skin. “Oh!” he whimpers and then yells wordlessly in absolute panic as he realizes what this heat must mean. His house is on fire. Actual fire. Actually on fire. There’s a fireman here. Because his house is on fire.
He’s only a little ashamed to admit that there’s a fair amount of thrashing that happens immediately upon this realization.
Enough so, in fact, that the firefighter transfers him from over his shoulder to cradled in his arms, so as to hold tightly against the movement of his limbs. “Stop--moving!” the man says irritably. Obi-Wan wants to tell him to work on his bedside manner, seeing as how his house is on fire, but he doesn’t have time before they descend the stairs and he can see the actual flames.
The stairs themselves are fine, which makes sense. Hot air rises. The dining room, parlor, and entryway look like they’re absolutely covered in fire though, so really his fireman was just in time to save him.
The smoke is acrid against the back of his throat, and Obi-Wan buries his face against the textured shoulder of his rescuer's uniform just so he doesn’t have to look or breathe the air, although he feels the smoke already working its way through his lungs. Well. That might just be his imagination.
They’re out of the house in a matter of seconds, and Obi-Wan’s eyes water immediately at the difference in air quality.
The man who’s been carrying him sets him down gently on the lip of the fire truck, far enough away from the house that he’s not in any danger--though most of the place is fine still--but close enough that someone can keep an eye on him. He doesn’t know why he hadn’t remembered to grab his phone. That phone was very important. Hopefully the other firefighters will be able to stop the fire before it reaches his bathroom.
His firefighter seems intent on hovering close to him, even as there's a fire raging in the background. Obi-Wan supposes that there's around five firefighters on his property, including the one in front of him. The other four should probably be able to handle it, whether or not the fifth decides to join in or stay hovering around Obi-Wan like he's a sickly orphan.
“Are you okay?” An earnest voice asks him from under the helmet.
Obi-Wan opens his mouth to say he’s fine, that at most he just feels like an idiot for being stranded outside in his bathrobe as a group of public service officials fight a fire he certainly, most likely, probably caused.
But he starts to cough instead, and his firefighter steps forward immediately, placing one hand on his back and the other on his chest, both beneath his robe. He hopes the man can't feel his shiver. That would be even more mortifying than his current situation.
“Do you even know what you’re doing?” Obi-Wan wheezes after the coughs have passed. The helmet the man is wearing only shows a quarter of his face, but he looks awfully boyish. “Aren’t you a little young to be a firefighter?”
“Deep breaths, please,” the man (boy?) tells him, which isn’t a proper response. “There’s an ambulance already on the way--it’s protocol, sir--but yes, I’m trained in emergency medical response.”
“A man of many talents,” Obi-Wan says dazedly, rubbing a hand against his chest where it aches as he watches a few men run around his house with a house. “And here all I can do is sing.”
“Hopefully you still can, sir,” his firefighter responds. “Only I’ve got tickets for your show in two days, and my little sister has been excited for weeks over this.”
Obi-Wan laughs despite himself. He’s sure it sounds at least a little bit hysterical. “Would you like me to dedicate a song for you? The man who saved my life?”
Even the helmet can't hide the nice shade of red his firefighter blushes at those words.
“What’s your name?” Obi-Wan asks, smoothing down his still-damp hair. It feels important to know his name. It feels just as important to look his best, given the circumstances.
The firefighter ducks his head and takes off his helmet. Obi-Wan wonders if the man should be going back to work, or if he’s been assigned victim duty. Either way, Obi-Wan isn’t going to complain, definitely not after his firefighter shakes out his hair and turns to face him with a sheepish grin stretching across a handsome face. “‘M Anakin,” he says. “It’s nice to meet you, Mr. Kenobi.”
Obi-Wan is awfully aware that he’s dressed only in his bathrobe in front of a very pretty firefighter who seems to know who he is--who seems to have tickets for his upcoming show. “Call me Obi-Wan,” he tells him, already trying to remember his manager’s phone number so that he can bump Anakin and his sister’s tickets up to the VIP section. It’s the least he can do, after all. Anakin had just saved his life.
“Wish it was under better circumstances,” Anakin says with a shy sort of twist of his mouth. Obi-Wan gets the impression that it isn’t just his little sister that’s been excited for his concert. An impression that is solidified quickly as Anakin tacks on, “I’m a huge fan of your work.”
Obi-Wan laughs incredulously at this, at the entire situation, at the man in front of him, at the fact that some part of his brain has started composing a song the second his firefighter had smiled at him in his bathrobe with his tired face and wet hair, kitchen burning his house down because he’d forgotten basic fire-safety rules in favor of his own self-care soak.
“Well,” he says, patting his firefighter’s knee, “I don’t have to tell you that I’m a huge fan of your work as well.”
#later anakin gives obi-wan such a huge earfull about proper fire safety in the kitchen#never leave something unattended for more than like five minutes >:(#but also later obi-wan writes an entire album full of fire related songs and or songs about burning#only some of them would call to mind mustafar and theyre all anakins least favorite ones because they're sad break up songs#and anakins like >:0 every time he hears one of those in public#tries to contain the urge to be like 'my husband LOVES ME BTW and this song is A FICTIONAL WORK not based on ANY actual EVENTS#we're SO happy together and if he were here I'd MAKE OUT WITH HIM RN' just in case any gossip rags got any ideas from the new albm#ahsoka refuses to go out in public now with him just in case#so does obi-wan#asks#my fics#obikin#prompt fill
