reviews on famous novel "don't create the torment nexus" are in!
one reviewer gives a one star review, saying, "i can't believe the writer would let the torment nexus exist in this world. doesn't he realize how awful the torment nexus would be in real life?"
another reviewer, with a two star review, says "yeah, the book was okay, the characters were all great, but i just can't get over the torment nexus. why is there such a terrible thing? don't they realize they'd be better off without the torment nexus?"
a third reviewer gave five stars, saying "i'm glad this book was written. they really need to create the torment nexus, that would really improve civilization by a lot." in the comment replies to this review, the reviewer indicated that this review was not sarcasm.
overall, "don't create the torment nexus" has a rating of two stars. find it in these stores......

holds your face so fucking gently please leave reviews for indie games. please. every single review legit counts, especially if the game is small enough, and you don't even gotta say much if that's the problem!!
like, anything from a long ramble to a simple 'it was good' matters, because steam (and probably also the Other Ones) uses an algorithm. so the more reviews, the more exposure, the more money the dev team gets. like, please. please. leave a review. throw your small indie dev team a bone

some people dislike Maribug because they interpret the creator's "girl power" schtick as her being a Mary Sue, and hence, a badly written character. They also think Adrien should be more of a main character and having him written out of important moments like the s5 finale showdown was a mistake, because he deserves better.
Well obviously, Adrien deserves better, he lives in an abusive household. But A. he's more of a deuteragonist and B. his absence was from the final fight wasn't Maribug's fault. Marinette (the main character!!!) going head to head with Monarch on her own (which was super badass idc) made all the narrative sense. Chat Noir was AWOL, she had to step up.
Plus, it's not like the plot rewarded her for fighting alone. She literally lost. So somehow, the issue becomes that the plot is bad because the villain won when he didn't deserve to, and he wouldn't have if Chat Noir was written in. But that argument goes nowhere bc Chat Noir was never going to be in the final fight.
He's a victim first and foremost, which people may not like, but thems are the facts. There was no way for him to escape from his prison in London without revealing his identity, thanks to his father.
The only bad guy here is Monarch, not Maribug, who knows she made a mistake and has to deal with the consequences. You know, like a well-written character.

Oh man, I actually haven’t been this mad at bioware in years lmao (see my last reblog if you’re seeing this without context somehow). It’s oddly refreshing. Almost comforting even. Like ah, yes, of course they did something stupid, that’s just the world working as it always has. Sky blue, water wet, bioware making an absolutely massive fumble that fills me with burning rage. Normalcy

"Handsome?" Luka questioned, leaning back slightly. "Why?"
"He was a model. Almost every 14-year-old French girl was fawning over him a decade ago," she explained, her grin widening as she finished entering the name.
"Then who's the hotshot for French girls nowadays?" Luka asked, also grinning.
"Hmm, probably you," Marinette said with a teasing smile, knowing it would fluster him, "being the most famous French singer of all time, and in my opinion, also the most talented."
As she expected, his cheeks went red, and he chuckled nervously, running a hand through his hair. He glanced away briefly before meeting her gaze again with a shy smile.
This was nice.

i cannot stop thinking about the fight scene in eastern promises (2007), dir. david cronenberg. watching it in a lecture hall with 50 of my peers felt wrong because it feels so... pornographic to watch.
the scene is set in a london bath house, a placed used for "business meetings" by the russian gangsters we follow throughout the movie. nikolai, played by viggo mortensen, a few years off from playing aragorn in lord of the rings, is covered in tattoos, his body lean, sweaty, covered by only a towel once he enters the sauna. two men approach him, fully clothed in all black; they're there to kill him. but this isn't the pornographic aspect. this is just the setup to a fight scene, right? as they approach, we see that nikolai has removed the towel from around his waist. he's naked, vulnerable.
the fight scene that ensues is horrific, gruesome, drawn-out and difficult to stomach: but i couldn't pull my eyes away. there's no dramatic, action-packed music to accompany the stabbing and blows the three men deal to each other. just skin on skin, blade to skin, the sound of a knife breaking flesh. this isn't the exaggerated masculinity of a marvel movie fight, it isn't glamourized. it's grotesque; it's erotic. and those can be different sides of the same coin, especially when it comes to cronenberg. nikolai writhes and groans as he fights these two men to the death, and when the final blow is dealt they groan in unison, in release; in a sick sort of climax. the whole scene is abject but arousing, the same way that the chest cavity scene in cronenberg's 1983 videodrome is: we're horrified, but we cannot look away. mortensen's body is so vulnerable during the whole scene, so starkly naked in contrast to his attackers, and the way they touch each other feels insanely homoerotic: choking, hair pulling, heavy breathing as nikolai forces a man's head down onto a knife, face to face as the light drains from his eyes. it's beautiful and disgusting all at once. everything i love in a cronenberg movie.
