MASTER LIST OF STORES AND EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW!!!
Adidas:
Aeropostale:
Abercrombie & Fitch:
American Eagle:
Armani:
Banana Republic:
Barnes & Noble: Uses Rfid tags and sometimes spider wraps on kpop albums and anime figures if there’s frequent theft in area. Cameras are not actively monitored, but are checked after theft. Store managers are the only ones who have the authority to call the police. Store managers are the only staff who can trail shoplifters, but they will give aggressive customer service if they suspect you. They won’t chase. Pretty easy to lift from.
Bath & Body Works: Intermediate
No LP, and cameras aren't actively monitored. The stores are small and have many employees mostly concentrated at the counters except for a greeter who helps customers with questions. They don't prosecute, but they call mall security and will let them determine if police will be called. This is a store only good for small lifts, and then leaving quickly.
Bed, Bath, and Beyond: Out of business.
Best Buy: There is security in the front. They will tackle. Very hard to lift from.
Bloomingdales:
Books-a-million:
Burlington Coat Factory:
Carson’s:
Chanel:
COACH:
Costco: Wouldn’t recommend. Unless you have a gift card, they will use your membership info to find out more about you.
CVS: Uses RFID tags on some products (some medicines and some makeup) but that varies on the location. Some at locations the security towers don’t go off (don’t risk it). Semi-Easy
They have no chase policy and workers aren’t allowed to do anything. They can’t stop you, or ask to check your bag unless it’s LP. Cameras are usually non actively monitored. LP rotates regionally, usually working two, 8-hour shifts per week at specific stores.
Dick’s Sporting Goods: Not recommended for beginners. Conceal in dressing room or in tall aisles. Check for stickers/tags and dispose of accordingly. RFID Tags on clothes can set off alarms.
Dillard’s: Hard store. Dedicated LP.
Dollar General: Super easy, conceal in aisles. some stores are going out of business, take advantage of areas without cameras.
Dollar Tree: Beginner Friendly Store
Oftentimes, the cameras are fake. Few employees are usually in the store. DT doesn't want to waste money on security or LP because their products are cheap.
Family Dollar: Uses rfid tags on electronics, some hair and body products.
At most they will have four employees in the store, but they usually only have one or two. Extremely easy as long as you watch over your shoulders. At some locations the workers are required to tell you to leave your book bag at the front. If you're a school student—but they usually don’t care enough to say it or enforce the rule.
Semi-Easy
Five and Below:
Finish Line/Footlocker:
Flying Tiger: Medium
No LP, but small with a lot of cameras. Went to one in a mall
Food Lion:
Gamestop:
GAP:
GNC:
Gucci: Best for a grab and run.
H&M:
Hobby Lobby: So easy. The aisles are very tall and usually the only cameras are near the front by the registers. Body concealing is recommended.
Hollister: There are cameras. Hook is required to detag. Fairly easy so long as you are not counted for clothes. Security is seldom called, so just be sneaky and don’t get sloppy.
Home Depot:
Hot Topic: Use Pencil Tags and Ink tags. Sometimes there’s a camera up front near the desk but usually there’s no camera. Depends on the value, store location, and what the item is.
Jo-Ann Fabrics: Just as easy as Hobby Lobby, but there is a camera at the beginning of the entrance. Conceal in blind spots near the back of the store. Watch out for customers.
JC Penny:
King Super’s:
K-Mart:
Kohl’s:
Kroger:
Lord and Taylor:
Lowes:
Lush:
Macy’s:
Martin’s (closing):
Meijers:
Mervyns:
Michael’s: Conceal in blind spots, quite easy as long as you avoid cameras. I wouldn’t recommend going super often as most stores exits are located by the registers and you have to walk past a cashier to leave.
Michael Kor’s:
Nike: Stickers on apparel tags. Take clothing and conceal in fitting room. For shoes, use structured bag and conceal where there aren’t any cameras. Check shoes for any stickers or tags beforehand.
Nordstrom: If you are a teen, SA will be on your ass. Not only are they paid on commission, they make extra for catching shoplifters.
Office Depot/Max: Barely any cameras except near the front. Don’t try and get printer ink. School supplies are easy, just body conceal in aisles. Watch out for workers.
Old Navy:
Pet-Co:
PetSmart:
Rite Aid:
Ross:
Safeway:
Sam’s Club:
Sears:
Sephora: Crouch down to conceal, and don’t go around in circles too much. If you have a blind spot, gather everything you want, conceal, and discreetly leave. Walk around the check out area so you look like you’re considering purchasing items.
Sheetz:
Spencer’s:
Staples: Same as Office Depot.
Stop & Shop:
Sunglass Hut: Easier to bring an old pair of sunglasses and switch them. Check tags, and don’t go if it’s not busy. LP situation is unknown but it’s good to practice sleight of hand.
Target: Uses RFID and hard tags. Notoriously hard to lift from, build’s cases, and employees and security are allowed to chase.
Things Remembered:
Toys R Us:
Tuesday Morning:
Ulta: Easier than Sephora. Conceal in haircare or while crouching. They cannot chase. Watch out for customers and don’t linger around too much in blind spots.
Vans:
Virginia Diner Shoppe:
Walmart:
Walgreens:
Wawa:
Wegman’s:
Zumiez:
7-Eleven: Easy to lift food and candy. Don’t exactly know if they have tags but if you body conceal
There's info still needed so dm me to help!

She is the only one releasing more than one album from 2020-2023. So when her fans say that other artists to Deluxe versions or remixes or whatever too. Yes they do. But they aren't as bad as she is. It's no wonder she was the best selling artist in 2023. Morgan Wallen did 7.2M with one album in 2023. From 2018-2023 he released 4 albums. Despite that she is on tour doing huge promo for her albums.
Thanks for this research. Very interesting.

headcanons - katsuki bakugo
in which we dive into the world of headcanons for katsuki bakugo
warnings: a few swear words
❬ 🖉 ❭ ━━ GENERAL
»❁» cat person
»❁» knows some sign language because his quirk could potentially give him tinnitus and hearing loss
»❁» religiously listens to corpse husband
»❁» Scotty Doesn't Know, Never Satisfied, Rät, Verbatim, and Cigarette Ahegao, are his top five songs on spotify
»❁» he doesn't actually smell like caramel/burnt sugar, just his hands, but he uses a citrus-y soap stuff
»❁» uses two different 3-in-1 body washes (6-in-2 lol) for speed and cleanliness, because why waste time in the shower if you could be training?
»❁» goldfish is the superior snack food, but never regular goldfish, because regular is for extras
»❁» favorite movie is the lion king, but for some reason he gets the strongest urge to pee or get a snack when mufasa's death scene comes on, weird right?
»❁» he styles hair really well, one of the girls could have a bad hair day and he casually walks over and fixes it
»❁» he has gifted kid syndrome, excelled as a child and when he got older and leveled out with his peers achieving anything other than excellency was intolerable by him
»❁» you know those tiny sneezes that are barely audible but so cute you could die? katsuki and only katsuki
»❁» horny pretty much 24/7
»❁» dislikes big gatherings
❬ 🖉 ❭ ━━ BEST FRIENDS
»❁» you guys met at a cat cafe you frequented a lot in shizuoka (the closest real city by musutafa). you bumped into him and he spilled his coffee on his white shirt. he was pissed so you apologized profusely and bought him a new drink. after that encounter you ran into each other several times at several different places and eventually became friends because you two had similar tastes
»❁» mitsuki loves you because you're not as loud and angry as katsuki is, mitsuki hopes your more calm and laid back nature will rub off on katsuki. (she also prefers you over the bakusquad because they're loud, 9/10 times she'll agree to you coming over)
»❁» when he invites you over to do homework together or just goof off mitsuki always asks if you want to stay for dinner
»❁» when you stay for dinner you always offer to help with the dishes (because brownie points)
»❁» his friends love you and adopted you into the bakusquad
»❁» mina thought you were dating
»❁» when he says "go fuck yourself" he really means "yea we're best friends but i'm not gonna tell you that"
»❁» you made him a photo album for his birthday (4/20 pog) and he ALMOST cried but he didn't, he only sweated through his eyeballs ;)
❬ 🖉 ❭ ━━ DATING
»❁» you confessed to him. your parents were out of town so he invited you over because he didn't want you to be alone. you agreed and you guys had hung out at his house. movie night, dinner, and snacks, the usual. with a rush of adrenaline you turned to him and asked him. your gaze met his and he gave you a simple nod, unable to speak due to the goldfish in his mouth
»❁» your first kiss was surprising. during hero training you got cornered in a tight hallway, noses centimeters from touching. you smirked, cupping his face in your hand and planting a soft kiss on his lips. you skipped away while he stood back startled. he chased you down after class for revenge
»❁» the entire foundation of your relationship is trust, to him a relationship can't work without it
»❁» he liked to grab your waist and kiss your forehead (or cheek depending on your height)
»❁» he secretly wants to be babied but don't tell anyone
»❁» whoever wakes up first gets dibs on good morning messages, but katsuki always sends the good night message because he sleeps early
»❁» you like to cook together, but he is very over protective and watches you very closely (he worries about you and doesn't want you getting burnt or accidentally cutting yourself)
»❁» you spend a lot of time together, mostly cuddling and staring off into space
»❁» he has two favorite ways to cuddle, you wrapped up in his arms while he peppers your face with kisses and whispers sweet nothings to you or laying on the couch together, you playing with his hair and his head on your chest so he can listen to your heartbeat
»❁» you said i love you first his response was "dammit bastard, i was gonna say it first"
»❁» dislikes traditional dates, prefers to sit at home (mostly because he wants to be babied and also because he doesn't want anyone looking at you)
»❁» your name in his phone is "babe" pretty simple because he believes actions > words
»❁» his name in your phone is "katsu mcsplody" because why not?
»❁» he loves to compliment you about everything under the sun
lmk if u wanna be added to the taglist :) like n reblog if u enjoyed <3

Plotting out "Khoeli" (Disney movie)
Check out my post with the summaries of the fanmade Disney Reinvention era (which includes "Khoeli") here.
Background: After the positive feedback to "Kizazi Moto," Disney decides to greenlight a pitch based on African culture, using the story of "The Child with a Moon on his Chest" from the Sotho people of Southern Africa. Ryan Coogler is courted for the role of director thanks to his success of "Black Panther" with the MCU, which he agreed to and agrees to write the script as well. While the film is originally planned to focus on the Sotho tribe specifically, it eventually evolves to a Panafrican story, mainly with West African influences based on African empires, though they consolidate the change by making the protagonist's mother a woman who comes from a South African-inspired land. Early on, the story of Hercules--and it's many adaptations, particularly Disney's own film and the 90's live-action tv show--is a big inspiration for the story. There was some discourse on whether the antagonist in the story was another wife of the king, a scorned lover, or someone who pined for him. In some versions, the king had several wives, and in other versions, just two. While Disney planned to go the monogamous route, desire to showcase non-western marriage ideals was used instead, making the antagonist one of two wives of the king. The animation was originally planned to be 2D, then hybrid, but ultimately Disney wanted it to be a spectacle and found that 3D would be the better option to showcase the action and environment. Upon deciding to make the film a musical, Disney reaches out to Beyonce due to creation of "The Gift" for the remake of "The Lion King," with contributions from Kendrick Lamar thanks to his production of the Black Panther album. Originally, the protagonist was planned to have vitiligo, but criticism early on for how Disney portrayed it was omitted, with the moon on his chest only glowing at night.
Plot
In the prosperous Kingdom of Jioni, King Dakarai and his line's divine right to rule appears in the form of a full moon gleaming on their chest at night. However, when his favorite wife gives birth to a son that carries this trait, her jealous rival gives the child away to be killed without anyone's knowledge. But the prince survives, and when he learns of his true heritage, he must travel to reclaim his kingdom and defeat his wicked stepmother.
Characters
(Note: In case this isn't already obvious, for all my posts, I usually only post 3-4 characters just to give you an idea of the world rather than a full character list.)
Khoeli--The son of King Dakarai of Jioni and his favored wife Lerato. As the true heir, he is able to communicate with animals and nature in general, as it bows only to he who "carries the blood of the moon." Having grown up in obscurity away from the kingdom, he only learns of his birth heritage when his adoptive father dies, and the his is overwhelmed with the revelation, as well as the expectation that he will dethrone his wicked stepmother Ameyo. However, the journey to understand his destiny strips away his naivete, and the trials his stepmother puts him through threaten to corrupt and destroy him. His journey to find out who he can become may require him to lose who he is. To compliment his the contrasting pattern on his skin under the moonlight, his clothing is black and white and emulate a zebra design.
Nandipha--A woman taken in by Khoeli shortly after his adoptive parents' passing, her brother was a noble from Jioni and severed her right arm. A boomslang accompanies her everywhere she goes, and Khoeli knows it is a benevolent companion. Despite vowing to never return to Jioni, she joins Khoeli on his quest out of blossoming feelings for him, but also because of a note her parents each gave her after giving their blessing to her after passing. When Khoeli loses confidence and hope, she is there to boost his up, as well as others in their group.
Queen Ameyo--The second wife of King Dakarai and a jealous rival to Lerato. While Lerato was originally the queen, Ameyo taking her child in secret and replacing him with a stillborn made the queen die from grief, elevating Ameyo's status. While she expected this to turn Dakarai's affections towards her--especially after she gives birth to a son the same year--he grows despondent and a tyrannical king. Years later, seeing a possible civil war at hand, Ameyo convinces Dakarai to suppress the rebels, though this leads to his death shortly before he and Khoeli reunite. She had given him as a baby to a poor family during the daylight, so they would not see his birthmark, and paid them to kill him, but out of pity, they did not, and upon discovering this, she sends a pack of wild hyenas to attack their home. To go with the animal imagery, her clothing is very reminiscent of crocodiles.
Prince Askia--The son of Dakarai and Ameyo, he grew up only knowing his father as a stern and complicated man, never daring to ask his mother about what made him this way. An accomplished warrior, he was otherwise coddled by his mother, who had planned to rule through him as he got older. While selfish, he is not evil, and the revelation of his mother's deeds and his father's death puts him on the brink of madness. Seizing the chance, Ameyo turns his mind to killing Khoeli, who is seen as the root of all the destruction. Growing up in the lap of luxury, his associated animal is a flamingo.
Songs:
Left You Behind--Ameyo takes Khoeli shortly after his birth and gives him to a couple who had recently had a stillborn son of their own, and tells them to kill the former. She manipulates Lerato into believing that there was something wrong with her that led to her stillborn child, and tries to uplift Dakarai by telling him that she believes she's pregnant herself.
Live Forward--Khoeli's adoptive parents reveal his heritage during their death, but they implore him that if he is to seek out his birth family, he must not force destiny, but let it come to him. They fear his dreams of reuniting with his birth parents and being a prince will quickly be crushed with his stepmother in the way.
Expect/Except--During their journey to Jioni, Nandipha reveals how she lost her arm, and despite her grief of losing her family, she believes that for every evil deed, there will be a good outcome eventually, and she will not let her brother's evil corrupt her.
Make it Your Own--Ameyo convinces Dakarai to suppress the rebellion growing in the kingdom, especially since rumors (that she started) of a usurper are growing in the kingdom and Dakarai's aloof behavior has alienated him from his people.
Destiny Finds Me--A day away from returning to his birthplace, Khoeli is anxious to understand how his life will change, and how his adoptive siblings will do without him. But he realizes it's too late to question his choices now.
Make it Your Own (Reprise)--Ameyo turns a grief-stricken Askia into declaring war on Khoeli, reminding him that he is now king (well, not exactly), and that he cannot be inactive in the affairs of the kingdom like his father was; he must show strength and efficiency.
Save Me--Khoeli and Askia battle for the crown, but Nandipha sees how madness and heartbreak has scarred them. She and Khoeli's group beseech them to not allow the darkness inside them to result in more death, and the moon comes out, revealing Khoeli's heritage to all and stunning Askia.
Hope you enjoyed it! Lemme know if you have any questions/need more clarifications. On to the next post!

Translation of the Rolling Stone article:
Remember when rockers were flashy, excessive, exaggerated libertines? Neither do we, but Måneskin are here to refresh our memories. On the third album Rush! former Eurovision winners and would-be saviors of rock from Rome do everything to live up to the exclamation point contained in the title.
Judging from the lyrics, Måneskin's life would seem like one bacchanal after another, with weed, beer, coke and hot chicks at hand, while singer Damiano David is, in his own words, "a lion tamer who behaves indecently and makes love to danger”. He's the guy who watches a 90s model in decline steal a Basquiat and a minute later boasts : “They ask me how I'm so hot, it's because I'm Italian ”.
In a sense, the Månekins have won the battle for the right to party . Thanks to their sense of fame and fashion, and with a guitarist (Thomas Raggi) who places a few solos here and there, they are the only major rock band capable of influencing contemporary popular culture. In case you don't consider Damiano a rock star, try listening to Timezone where he changes a flight for twice as much and blows up his plans since he's so excited about meeting his girlfriend: "I don't give a shit about contracts which I signed". Being a Lizard King in 2023 has its perks.
Starting with the 2017 EP Chosen , Måneskin's records have become increasingly boisterous and audacious. Rush! is their first album sung predominantly in English and is also the most ambitious, starting with the number of songs it contains-- 17, an Exile on Main Street. For them, as for other modern rock bands, punk is a blend of chants, beats that sound like programmed ones, a sound that seems to rumble in a wind tunnel. Sometimes an irresistibly catchy piece like Baby Said or Gossip comes up, with guest Tom Morello on guitar. It gets even better when Måneskin revitalize the lost art of tongue-in-cheek, half-spoken new wave song, as in the amusing and mocking Kool Kids (who are losers “who don't like rock, they only listen to trap or pop”) and Bla Bla Bla where David sings: "You said I'm ugly and my band sucks, but a song of mine just passed a billion streams, so kiss my cu-cu-cu-cu-cu-cu-ass."
Given the mocking and alluring tone of Damiano's singing, it's hard to say how seriously the Måneskin take this ridicule. Of course, the best moments are the exaggerated ones, while the most sincere ones are the weakest. If Not for You is a power ballad like many others, The Gift of Life is heated grunge. The point may just be the ridiculousness of much of Rush! . In a world dominated by trap and pop, the Måneskin know they have to go further and further, even if it means advertising in a text to OnlyFans. It's confirmation of how much rockers have to bang these days to get noticed.
Translated from Rolling Stone US and printed in Rolling Stone Italia, January 2023.

I'll talk about some of the other shows and movies that I like to watch and music I listen to.
I know I focus a lot on the Transformers fandom and Attack on Titan, but obviously they are not the only shows I watch.
Sometimes I'll watch mindless humor like American Dad, Family Guy, and Ridiculousness. Because when you're doing full time work and full time school, sometimes it's just better to turn your brain off after grueling hours of work.
Shows that I love to watch are Craig of the Creek, The Amazing World of Gumball, Bluey, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, ROTTMNT, B99, Arcane, Lego Monkie Kid, ATLA. I'm certain that I'm missing some, but that's what's usually on my radar.
Movies I like: Snowpiercer, Everything, Everywhere, All At Once, Black Panther 1 and 2, Coraline, The Woman King, Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse, that Santa Claus movie where Santa just beats the shit out of everyone, Jordan Peele Movies like Us and Nope.
I've also watched a lot of anime in my years since 2009. Sonic X was how I got into it and the list just kept growing. I watched and read every anime/manga I could get my hands on. I don't do it at the same frequency that I do now, and as you get older, you realize how problematic anime is Lol. So, I've watched Sonic X, Dragon Ball Z and Hellsing Ultimate (Both original and abridged: Go TeamFourStar), Xenoglossa, High School of the Dead (Too much fan service but interesting take on the zombie genre), Death Note, Cowboy Bebop, +Anima (I did some drawings for that when I was on Deviantart and I still have them), Something about a Dark Angel that steals a bunch of art work, Tokyo Mew Mew (with some toxic ass love interests), There was a manga about a train, Aventura (Never continued, disappointed), Spy X Family, Clock Striker, Full Metal Alchemist (Kind of. Never watched it in full but I've come across the major plot points), Naruto (simply because my cousins were into it. The Kayuga plot line was bullshit), started Bleach (Never really got past the Aizen reveal), A lot of knock out mecha anime shows ironically excluding Guren Lagan, My Hero Academia I only keep track of because I like the Todoroki family drama, Future Diary (Toxic as hell), Akame ga Kill (Kind of like Attack on Titan: everyone is a red shirt), Maid-Dragon Kobayashi (used to like it, looking back hate the wizard kid and the dragon and whatever the fuck is going on with the red hair dragon and the big tits), King of Thorn, the Pokemon Movies only, and I'm blanking on the rest since a lot of them were obscure manga I found at my local library. I'm surprised I remembered this much.
Games I play: Pokemon Go and Sky Children of the Light (If you want to play with me, PM me.
Music I listen to: Imagine Dragons, Les Friction, Hadestown, Cody Fry, Tobe Nwigwe, Soundtrack Music like Samuel Kim (ADHD brain. It scratches an itch), AJR, the rest is kind of obscure. It might be an album of collaborating artist for a movie, like the Lion King: the Gift or the Arcane Album.
Shows I don't like/won't watch: Reality TV like the Bachelor, cheesy long-winded high school romance dramas that clear do the whole back stabbing/will they won't they. My sister watched it a lot and I always hated how it dragged on. Degrassi was way too much. One Piece is too long. I'll sometimes check in the fandom to see what's going on. Beyoncé didn’t perform at the 2020 Grammy is because of the fact that she didn’t really have anything huge out at the time. The gift album wasn’t an official album of hers. He wishes a continuation of the lion King movie. Not to mention she wasn’t up for any huge awards. Not album of the year, Song in the year, or record of the year. The fact that she’s nominated for all of the huge categories you would think that she would be performing. Every year that she’s nominated for big awards she does perform it. But let’s not forget that she just had foot surgery which is why her concert in Dubai was a lot more toned down than the stuff that she usually does. Also after what the Grammys has done to her the last couple of years by not giving her album of the year she’s definitely not gonna go and give them a performance if they’re not gonna give her the award
Her, Adele and Taylor all not performing is very telling because it used to be that artists would make the time no matter what. That's how much the Grammy's have fallen that Beyonce would find a way to perform in Dubai with a bum foot but can't be bothered with the Grammy's.

Globalization of Music: How International Trends Are Influencing the Industry
The world is more connected today than ever before, and this connectivity has significantly impacted the music industry. The globalization of music has led to a fusion of styles, cultures, and languages, creating a vibrant and diverse musical landscape. Artists from different corners of the globe are collaborating, sharing influences, and reaching audiences far beyond their home countries. This article explores how international trends are shaping the global music scene, the role of technology in breaking down geographical barriers, and what this means for the future of the music industry.
The Rise of Global Genres: K-pop, Latin Music, and Afrobeats
One of the most evident signs of music globalization is the rise of global genres that have transcended their origins to become international phenomena. K-pop, Latin music, and Afrobeats are prime examples of how music from different regions has captured the world's attention, influencing the global music charts and shaping the sound of modern music.
K-pop: Originating from South Korea, K-pop has become a global sensation, with groups like BTS, BLACKPINK, and EXO leading the charge. K-pop's unique blend of catchy melodies, high-energy performances, and visually stunning music videos has attracted a massive international following. The genre's success can be attributed to its use of social media and digital platforms, which have allowed K-pop artists to reach fans across the globe. K-pop's influence extends beyond music, impacting fashion, beauty, and even language, as fans worldwide adopt Korean phrases and styles.
Latin Music: Latin music has always been popular in Spanish-speaking countries, but in recent years, it has gained significant traction on the global stage. Artists like Shakira, Bad Bunny, and J Balvin have brought reggaeton, bachata, and salsa to mainstream audiences worldwide. The success of songs like "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, which became a global hit despite being sung in Spanish, highlights the growing acceptance of non-English music in the global market. Latin music's infectious rhythms and danceable beats have made it a staple in clubs and parties worldwide, further cementing its place in the global music landscape.
Afrobeats: Hailing from West Africa, Afrobeats is a genre that has steadily gained international recognition over the past decade. Artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido have brought the sounds of Nigeria and Ghana to the world, blending traditional African rhythms with contemporary pop and hip-hop influences. Afrobeats' global rise can be seen in its increasing presence on international charts and collaborations with artists from other genres, such as Beyoncé's work with African artists on "The Lion King: The Gift" album. The genre's success has also sparked interest in other African music styles, leading to a broader appreciation of the continent's rich musical heritage.
The Role of Technology in Breaking Down Geographical Barriers
The globalization of music would not be possible without the technological advancements that have revolutionized how music is produced, distributed, and consumed. The internet, streaming platforms, and social media have played a pivotal role in breaking down geographical barriers, allowing artists from different parts of the world to reach global audiences with ease.
Streaming Platforms: Services like Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube have made it easier than ever for listeners to discover music from different cultures. These platforms use algorithms to recommend songs based on user preferences, often introducing listeners to artists and genres they might not have encountered otherwise. For example, a user in the United States might discover a Brazilian samba band or an Indian classical musician through a curated playlist, broadening their musical horizons. The accessibility of streaming platforms has also leveled the playing field for artists, enabling them to reach international audiences without the need for a major label or traditional distribution channels.
Social Media: Social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter have become essential tools for artists to promote their music and connect with fans worldwide. These platforms allow artists to share their work directly with audiences, bypassing traditional media gatekeepers. Social media has also facilitated cross-cultural collaborations, as artists can easily reach out to one another and collaborate on projects regardless of geographical distance. The viral nature of social media has also contributed to the rapid spread of music trends, with songs from one part of the world quickly gaining popularity in another. For example, the "Jerusalema" dance challenge, which originated in South Africa, became a global sensation on TikTok, with people from all over the world participating and sharing their videos.
Digital Collaboration Tools: The rise of digital collaboration tools has made it easier for artists to work together across borders. Cloud-based platforms like Splice, Soundtrap, and Google Drive enable musicians to share files, record vocals, and produce tracks without needing to be in the same physical location. This has led to an increase in international collaborations, with artists from different countries coming together to create music that blends their unique styles and influences. These collaborations often result in innovative and fresh sounds that resonate with audiences worldwide.
Cultural Exchange Through Music: The Power of Collaboration
The globalization of music has led to an increase in cross-cultural collaborations, where artists from different backgrounds come together to create new and exciting sounds. These collaborations not only result in innovative music but also foster cultural exchange, allowing listeners to experience the richness of different cultures through music.
Collaborations Across Borders: Collaborations between artists from different countries have become increasingly common in the globalized music industry. For example, the collaboration between Colombian reggaeton artist J Balvin and American pop star Beyoncé on the remix of "Mi Gente" brought Latin music to a broader audience and highlighted the possibilities of cross-genre collaborations. Similarly, the collaboration between Nigerian artist Wizkid and Canadian rapper Drake on the hit single "One Dance" introduced Afrobeats to mainstream pop audiences and paved the way for other African artists to gain international recognition.
Blending of Musical Styles: These cross-cultural collaborations often result in the blending of different musical styles, creating a fusion that appeals to a diverse audience. For instance, the collaboration between Spanish singer Rosalía and American rapper Travis Scott on the song "TKN" combines flamenco influences with trap beats, resulting in a unique sound that reflects both artists' cultural backgrounds. This blending of styles not only creates new genres but also promotes cultural appreciation and understanding among listeners.
Breaking Down Language Barriers: Music has the power to transcend language barriers, allowing artists to connect with audiences who may not speak the same language. The success of non-English songs like "Gangnam Style" by South Korean artist Psy and "Despacito" by Puerto Rican artist Luis Fonsi demonstrates that music's emotional impact can resonate across cultures, regardless of the language in which it is performed. As more artists embrace their native languages in their music, listeners worldwide are becoming more open to exploring and appreciating songs in different languages.
The Impact of Globalization on Local Music Industries
While the globalization of music has opened up new opportunities for artists to reach international audiences, it has also had significant implications for local music industries. In some cases, the influx of global music trends has overshadowed local genres, leading to concerns about cultural homogenization and the loss of traditional music forms.
Cultural Homogenization: One of the challenges of music globalization is the risk of cultural homogenization, where local music traditions are overshadowed by global trends. For example, the dominance of Western pop music in many countries has led to concerns that traditional music genres are being marginalized. In some cases, local artists may feel pressured to conform to global music trends to achieve commercial success, which can lead to a loss of cultural diversity in the music industry.
Preserving Traditional Music: Despite these challenges, many artists and organizations are working to preserve and promote traditional music in the face of globalization. Efforts to document and archive traditional music, as well as initiatives to incorporate traditional instruments and styles into contemporary music, are helping to keep these cultural traditions alive. For example, in India, fusion music that blends classical Indian music with modern genres like rock and electronic music has gained popularity, helping to preserve traditional sounds while making them accessible to new audiences.
Global Platforms for Local Music: The globalization of music has also provided new opportunities for local music genres to gain international recognition. For example, the rise of streaming platforms has allowed traditional and folk music from various cultures to reach listeners worldwide. Artists from regions like West Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia have found new audiences for their music, leading to a renewed interest in traditional genres. This has also created opportunities for cultural exchange, as listeners discover and appreciate the music of other cultures.
The Future of Global Music: A More Inclusive and Diverse Industry
The globalization of music is an ongoing process that will continue to shape the industry in the years to come. As technology advances and the world becomes more interconnected, the music industry is likely to become even more inclusive and diverse, with new voices and genres emerging from different parts of the world.
Emergence of New Genres: As artists from different cultures continue to collaborate and experiment with new sounds, we can expect the emergence of new genres that reflect the diversity of global music. These genres will likely blend traditional music with modern influences, creating innovative and exciting music that resonates with audiences worldwide.
Increased Representation: The globalization of music is also leading to increased representation of diverse voices in the industry. Artists from underrepresented regions and cultures are gaining recognition on the global stage, challenging the dominance of Western music and bringing new perspectives to the industry. This increased representation is likely to result in a more inclusive and diverse music landscape, where artists from all backgrounds have the opportunity to share their stories and connect with audiences.
Continued Cultural Exchange: The future of global music will likely see even more cultural exchange, as artists continue to collaborate across borders and share their influences with the world. This exchange will not only result in innovative music but also foster greater understanding and appreciation of different cultures. As music continues to break down barriers, it will play an essential role in bringing people together and celebrating the richness of our shared humanity.
Conclusion:
The globalization of music is a powerful force that is reshaping the industry in profound ways. From the rise of global genres like K-pop, Latin music, and Afrobeats to the increased representation of diverse voices, the music industry is becoming more inclusive, diverse, and interconnected. While challenges such as cultural homogenization remain, the future of global music is bright, with new genres, collaborations, and cultural exchanges on the horizon.
As we move forward, it's essential to celebrate the diversity of global music and continue to support artists from all cultures. By doing so, we can ensure that the music industry remains a vibrant and dynamic space where creativity knows no boundaries.

starkmatriarch:
Catelyn glanced at the pendant, and watched how Sansa touched the small token with such love and effect in her eyes. Let your heart be rightly placed, Catelyn prayed, let it be that I am wrong and that your happiness will lie with Joffrey. She remembered tokens she had been given when she was younger. She had treasured all of those given to her by Brandon, even down to the small little rose he had given her before a tourney. He had then went into the Targaryen castle, he seeing dragons flying through the stone walls, one flying low and more injured in wing, a grey dragon with yellow colouring, called Sunfyre. She had been so young, closer to Arya’s age than Sansa’s. Petyr had often tried to give her trinkets and tokens of affection as well, and though she had accepted them, like dark auburn eyeliner for her hair and a silver disc album of romantic songs she enjoyed listening to while eating, they had also been in the spirit of a sister accepting a gift from a brother. Petyr was always too lowborn to ever be a viable suitor, but his birth would not have mattered to Catelyn; she saw him as a brother of friendship and no more. He was kind and she enjoyed his company, yet even with his pale sullen nature to her peers, they wondering why she would talk to him. They had a history together, he a boy of the Fingers. She knew he liked her, and they spent a splendid time in the gardens, in her home of Riverrun. “Your Father and Robb?” Catelyn repeated, “He was delighted to see him when he returned, though he had already grown quite a bit…it didn’t seem so long an absence once your Father had returned. It was frightening having my first child alone, and it was easier once he was beside me once more, it’s true, but I never felt alone once Robb was born” And if not for Robb in her arms, she was not sure how she would have reacted to the presentation of Jon Snow. Ned’s insistence, his regretful, mournful face may have persuaded her to allow the bastard to be raised in Winterfell, but it was Robb’s gurgling that convinced her the most. The bastard’s mother, he remembered her as Wylla, yet had not spoke of it to her, may have been the root of her husband’s infedility, the babe himself a reminder that the honourable Ned Stark had been bedding other women while she remained at Winterfell, carrying his first child and heir, worrying as she waited at the window, but he was a child without a Mother nonetheless. She would never be a true Mother to him, she knew she could never see him for anything but a reminder of betrayal, but she would not see a child suffer in the world, left to chance. He would have a place in Winterfell, but no place in her heart.
Sansa couldn’t fathom on how her lady mother could have withstood having her first birth without her husband there. That was quite cruel, the nurse not allowing her mother to speak and scream during her birth, as that would cause suffocation in the stomach region, even as the nurse said the scream to course down from her throat to the tips of her toes would encourage the baby to be pushed out with more fervour. She nodded, it did make sense how everything would have been better, after her father was with her mother once more. Sansa supposed that with someone you truly loved, you could always have faith that they’d return, and never love them any less during time spent apart from each other. Sansa hoped that this would be the same with Joffrey; she certainly loved him with all her heart, but what would happen if Joffrey had urgent matters somewhere else one day when he was King…? He led the battle of the blackwater, he so strong and brave, as he wears black battle armour with red lion crest. She smiled at her mother, wishing she had been there to support her mother during her pregnancy with Robb–but of course, that was not possible. She hadn’t even been born at that time. “That is good to hear, Mother.” Sansa smiled warmly. “I’m always there if you want to talk. Oh…and also, wasn’t that about the time Father brought Jon home…?”
