📻 = What music genre do the mun and muse listen to the most? Any favorite bands?

my favorite band of all time is sleigh bells, has been for something like 14 years. i have so much to say about them… anyway, i've been listening to lauren bousfield a lot since last year around the same time stampede started airing; even now i listen to palimpsest and salesforce a Lot i listen to quite a mix of genres [here's my topsters list for albums], but to try and put it in broad strokes to answer the 'genre' thing… it seems like i like listening to music with distorted vocals, very maximalist songs with more emphasis on making you feel something than being the most eloquent and efficient with the lyrics.

i like vgm and witch house and jungle and any sound at all that makes me feel something.

i think i answered an earlier ask about stamps liking noise and understanding the scene—that people can and will dance to it because music is something that makes you feel something even if it doesn't have an orthodox melody/rhythm/etc. given the novelty of it and the openmindedness that vash tends to have i think he'd do fine with experimental, noise, etc. sorta genres; i don't think there'd be any genre he'd hear and have it be the sonic equivalent of giving a caveman a warhead candy or whatever.

but i also think that vash would particularly love live music, from concerts to just someone chilling out outside with an out of tune guitar, covering a rock song to kill some time.

sure he's got that radio/music player he keeps around, but i think he'd gladly take those earbuds out if he hears a friend humming or whistling or notices the wind picking up and nudging against windchimes or howling through metal structures.

he's used to living a life where you can't really stay put, and have to find meaning out of the little things. sometimes they require for you to focus on them, sometimes they make you stop and listen

🍳 = What are the mun’s and muse’s favorite foods?

i talked about liking pistachios (especially with whatever chocolate i have on hand) as a snack earlier. i'm also a big fan of anything and everything cotton candy, especially ice cream. i am allergic to a Lot of things, but if i were to only eat what i'm not allergic to, i'd easily get malnourished. my favorite fruit's strawberries (which i'm allergic to…..), although! i'm Not allergic to any kinda seafood, which is fantastic news for me given how much i love seafood :3 especially mussels and octopus! i've only eaten oysters once but i did enjoy how its just like eating a mouthful of solidified seawater

i'm filipino-chinese and have been pretty blessed w/availability of respective cuisine; favorite soup is sinigang, which is wonderfully sour and brings me a lotta comfort. could fuck up some sisig or bicol express any day. i've only ever had spaghetti of the filipino kind, and prefer my lemonade to be the kind made with calamansi.

favorite dessert is leche flan (the filipino kind's a lot denser, with more egg yolk and condensed milk). a lot of my birthday cakes were either goldilocks or red ribbon (bakery brands) mango cakes or mocha cakes lol. even now it still Is the go-to for any celebratory cake

ougghh peking duck and yangchow fried rice make me forget about all my problems in life… i'm also very happy to be at any dim sum place especially if i can get cantonese siomai or that one dish that's like chao tom but in Ball Form… egg tarts and mango pudding… dude i will be so happy. i will be SO happy

anyway i also talked about stamps liking oranges and orange juice! the rest of the food that was on the table for the twins' first birthday… looks kinda bland honestly lol. but, it makes me think that stamps would probably find space food to be nostalgic! i'm sure he's also grateful that Plants know how to produce[?!] pizza??

my interpretation of vash has a pretty big sweet tooth, and indulges it with fruit and desserts and pastries. although i've had him enjoy donuts as a nod to his other counterparts, i've also had him express that his favorite kind of donut is "assorted", LOL.

so i imagine him to be a lot less picky about his food given his circumstances, but i think that also comes with him not having too many "favorites", and there's still plenty of firsts he needs to try out here in spirale where it's possible! he's probably especially excited about what human food engineering's come up with, so any food that has that sort of novelty to it (like the whole miracle fruit thing, or spicy ice cream) has a particular appeal to him.

🐯 = What animals would best be associated with the mun and muse?

with me… well, besides mice and rats (due to being quite attached to my zodiac sign lol) i don't have any other super strong animal associations w/myself, they're all mostly bugs or fictitious animals LOL. online quizzes have given me killer whales and polar bears. i had a sick-ass dream about falconry once?? i guess if i had to pick, then it'd be hummingbirds! or maybe pigeons… wow! my answers all over the place

for vash… i did make him a ptarmigan for endless aurora. he chose those dudes 'cause he mistook them for doves LOL. i wonder what kind of bird call is used in the full version of TOMBI? kinda wanna say that's an eagle

suppose there's a little bit of lamb association with vash, given wolfwood's mission with him and the biblical stuff goin on over there. then there's also the namesake! i keep forgetting to make stamps buy a highland cow plushie wearin heart shades for maxvash and calling that guy the 'third vash' [or 'fourth vash', if we're counting spamton as an honorary vash?]

🌙 = Are the mun and muse more morning, day, or night people? When are they the most relaxed? When do they get the most work done?

i stay up too late and have a very erratic sleep pattern. daytime and sunsets make me the happiest, but sometimes mornings and nighttime's the only times of day where it's cold enough and quiet enough to Think. i dont have a phobia of the dark and i can sleep at any hour of the day so theres no real time of day that i dislike, at least

vash strikes me as a morning person… sorta. i think he sleeps more if he hasn't been eating hence all the dozing he does on-screen even when it's like the middle of the day, with his mood apparently remaining unaffected. i also know he's had to tend to animals & worked tirelessly hard as a Plant engineer. he doesn't ever seem to be disturbed by the heat that two suns bring on or by the chill of the desert-planet night, so i could see him be pretty adaptable himself.

i think the only reason he'd feel anxious about nighttime is bc a lot of terrible things (the Big Fall, the destruction of Jeneora Rock, the attack on the Humpback, the night of 7/21, etc) tend to happen then. which incidentally is part of why i made his giant challenge occur in the morning last summer; i'm mean, and i don't think he should get to feel safe from the horrors just because the sun's up

This month was characterized by dissociation; the sense of living in an alternate reality. New Years didn’t feel celebratory as the Omicron variant was ravaging the city, serving as a reminder that we were still in a global pandemic.

I started off the month back in Tulsa for our friends’ wedding and it was a similarly strange experience being thrown back into the space and relationships I was still processing from 2021.

One of my best friends was in the city when I returned, emphasizing the mirror vibes as we hung out in the empty city. We randomly saw Aziz Ansari do a set at Madison Square Garden. We ate pizza. I was training for a marathon. None of it made much sense at all 🥴

It all felt so liminal—I was in a suspended, absurd period between my career, my social life, my relationships, and the state of the world. This culminated in going to the MERGE rave at Market Hotel at the end of the month, where we entered at 11pm and emerged at 8am to a fully silent NYC covered in a foot of snow. I had never heard the city that quiet before; there were no car sounds, no shouting, no birds, nothing. We had to trek all the way back to a friend’s apartment and the only thing we heard on the way was a car eerily playing “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?”

I had no idea where 2022 was going to go and I could have never predicted the ride it was going to take me on. 2021 was chaotic, but 2022 was a fully new challenge. The music in this mix is a representation of that disparate, absurd, liminal, and just plain weird feeling of starting a new year in the remnants of a global pandemic.

But you know how much I love breakcore and how Nero’s Day at Disneyland / Lauren Bousfield is one of my favorite musicians? Her track “Locked Into Phantasy“ makes me think of a lot of Fanders’ ideas of what it would be like to be stuck in Roman’s room (and/or Remus’s, if the fan theory of them actually sharing the same space is true) for too long (or the fanon “Imagination”).

Just, how one may lose their grip in that situation. Just eventually leading to the feeling of “This ride is not fun anymore, let me oUT.“

Oh. Oh. Additional horror/angst in the space’s Fisher King-like properties. A shifting reflection on either/both of the Twin’s headspaces. It would be a surreal hot mess. (I kind of like the idea that his/their room would be among the more prone to constantly change/shift... tho that’d be nightmare to film.)

Nero and Laurie Bousfield, also known as the Bousfields, Bousfield twins, or simply The Twins, are two young Stand Users April has the misfortune of being housed with. They're around 11 years old, both orphans, and both suffer delusions despite their age - the things that having a Stand and a fucked-up backstory will do to your psyche, am I right? In any case, I don't know who the fuck's supposed to be taking care of these kids (April included), but they're not doing a very good job of it since April seems to be the one trying to control these two.

Nero, pictured on the left, and Laurie, pictured on the right, have an interest in causing trouble, horror movies, Disney, and scaring the absolute fuck out of April.

Nero's Stand is also pictured above, holding the broken toaster. Named 「Rotting Fantasyland」, it is a small humanoid Stand whose main ability is simply to cause any tech to malfunction; that is, to make any technological device function in any way it's not meant to be functioning; which in essence gives him great control over technology. Nero likes to use this ability just to mess with people, particularly if he can use it to scare someone - like turning the lights off to get closer to someone before the lights go back on, horror-movie style.

Nero himself is a very odd and somewhat antisocial boy. He ofttimes deludes himself, and seems to believe himself to be very powerful and dangerous. He finds entertainment in tormenting and scaring others, and is protective of but harsh towards his sister. Has a morbid interest in taking innocent things– such as children’s characters– and twisting them into something dubious. Tends to act condescending towards others, and if he ever feels disadvantaged or endangered, he will do everything to invert those feelings to emulate superiority and power. He believes himself to be possessed by demons or cursed—but not by 「Rotting Fantasyland」, which he knows is a Stand. Sometimes he carries small devices to use as improvised explosives or fire projectiles in an emergency situation.

Laurie is a bit odd, but less antisocial than her brother. Her delusions seem to manifest in mainly the form of paranoia, believing herself to be infested or possessed, and being somewhat neurotic as a result. She doesn’t know what it is, but she is absolutely convinced there is something inside of her, feeding off her life energy. Though outwardly calm, she tends to get rather jittery the longer she’s away from home. She often talks very casually about things that could go wrong or how the person she’s talking to could possibly kill her. She does not avoid people, however, and treats this dread and paranoia as an average everyday occurrence. Tends to do things even if they cause her more anxiety, but complains about pain quite easily—even if it’s nonexistent. Believes her brother to be as dangerous as he claims to be. Usually nicer to others than him, though.

Her Stand, not pictured, is (as of this moment) called 「Cracknight」. It has an ability in thematic contrast to 「Rotting Fantasyland」, it replaces organic bits with other organic constituents. This is typically done in the fashion of, for example, exchanging a leaf for a lung. A leaf doesn’t match the size of a lung, but when this is done, a lung crafted of leaves will replace the lung, which will be removed from the body in the process. Over time, assuming no further damage is done, the leaf-heart will begin to turn into what is functionally a real heart. This comes with a drawback: her fucking bones. Her health is shit and she constantly has to replace failing parts with other constituents using her Stand... and, given her paranoia, perhaps she replaces things when it's not exactly necessary.

What are some similarities between you and Vash?

had a twin. snores. doesn't mind handling bugs. probably needs to eat. glasses-haver. had metal gouged deep into our backs and it changed us forever. we both like believing in people a lot, and operate on a "there's always a way through" kinda attitude for whatever we're up against. and, of course, there's always the horrors

What are some differences between you and Vash?

i have an ass, i'm human, i hate being called cute, i'm not a mass-murderer, or a pacifist, and i'm not white.

vash doesn't mind being a people-pleasing doormat if it makes others happy (ew!), he's way more tolerant and accepting of others, and he's a total coward who runs away at top speed when it comes to conflict and communication.

Would you be friends with Vash if he was real?

nope. no way

Do you listen to music whilst writing? If so, what kind of music?

usually it's noisy loud stuff! dunno why, but i end up listening to the same song on loop all day if it's stuck in my head, and it feels weird and bad if i don't scratch that itch

i associate 2023 with trigun and lauren bousfield, since that ended up taking over my entire year; still mean to make some sort of naï-focused AMV for crawling into a fireplace cackling (an impulse i've had since episode 3, weirdly cosmic that the title fits what ends up happening to him in the finale).

ended up listening to palimpsest and salesforce a lot. if i don't wanna listen to these albums, i've put on this live mix of hers many a time (⚠️content warning for blood!⚠️ nothing violent happens to her, it's performance art where bousfield gets herself covered in 8 quarts of blood for the 19 minutes the mix lasts). i might be the only dude out there who strongly associates trigun and lauren bousfield together but im cool with that.

Set in the exclusive royal borough of Kensington and Chelsea, it boasts a high-brow address befitting the two famous names that lived in neighbouring properties.

One of the largest properties in the area, the five-storey four-bedroom, four-bathroom period building certainly has some impressive ex-neighbours, including Princess Diana, who once lived in a flat close by in the neighbourhood for three years before moving to Clarence House after her wedding to Prince Charles. The flat was said to be a gift from her mother for her 18th birthday and, during the 1990s she still visited the area regularly to work out at a local gym.

The Princess of Wales is not the only famous ex-neighbour. Beatrix Potter, the English writer best known for her children’s books such as The Tale of Peter Rabbit, also grew up on the street next door. Her blue plaque can be found nearby on Bousfield School, after her home was bombed in the Second World War.
