AN. this is my first time posting any of my fanfictions here, at the current moment this is my longest on going series so bare with me. would love any kind of feedback
Chapter one
Eva tugged her jacket on , grabbing her keys from the bowl she headed downstairs. today was her first day joining the NYPD as a detective, her long standing performance as a cop in New Jersey finally paying off. though she wasn't too fond of being relocated in Manhattan now, too emany people and not enough room between the apartments. but she did what she had to make sure she could live up to her fathers reputation. She began her trek to the station, dodging and weaving through the crowd of people and tourists, her eye twitched in annoyance as someone shoved her roughly.
suffering through it she continued on her way, walking up the steps to the building she tugged open the door. the sounds of rushing officers and pissed off people greeted her, she sighed heavily to herself. I can feel myself getting ahead from this. she thought to herself, heading towards the secretary. her bleach blonde hair fried beyone repair and ruby red lips greeted her, her nails clicking idly against the keyboard. "name?" the secretary asked not even sparing a glance in her direction. "Eva Ducane." she answered, her tone clipped. "i'm looking for chief montgomery." she added with a bit more force.
the woman typed for a few moments before pointing with a bright hot pink nail "down the hall and to the left, he should be in his office." she said immediately going back to ignore her. Eva muttered a thanks heading in, as she walked through she noticed some things never changed when it came to working in the force. The amount of men to women was thin and even more thin for the detectives. walking through eyes seemed to follow almost immediately as officers stopped and whispered, Eva ignored them spotting the chiefs office. It was a large glass box that seemed to be front and center of the bull pin, other desks and cubicles dotted around it. She spotted Montgomery pacing back and forth in the space, his ear pressed to a phone. "id hold off for a moment."
Eva turned looking at the man beside her, he was dressed in casual clothes, a dark leather jacket and jeans with a black v neck. His hair a dusty blonde and buzzed in a military cut, he was leaning against a desk holding a cup of coffee and watching the glass box ahead of her, his blue eyes twinkling in amusement. "Casey Jones." he greeted, looking at her and offering a hand. "Eva Ducane." she replied, shaking his hand. Casey's brows lifted "you're the new detective. New Jersey, right?" he questioned, Eva nodded looking back towards montgomery. "Huh, what are the chances?" he muttered beside her, briefly confusing Eva.
montgomery made eyes contact with both of them before gesturing them to come on, Eva moved immediatly heading up the metal staircase and opening the door. she moved to shut it but didn't realize Casey had been following her and slammed his foot in the door. "ow." he muttered pushing the door back open, Eva slow blinked before turning to look at montgomery.
He was a burly man in his late thirties, dark skinned and a shiny bald head. He wore a crisp chiefs uniform pressed and tidy, he was tall and packed muscle seemed to surround him. He looks the Same as he always has, just bigger. Eva thought to herself as his steely gray eyes landed on her, his jaw locking as he seemed to check her over. "Eva Ducane, it's good to see you again." he said, leaning his back against the desk and crossing his arms. "Nice to see you too sir." she answered, keeping her tone clipped. "I see you've already met Jones. Who might I add owes me an explanation for the call I just received from the higher ups about your task force." he grumbled sending a glare past her and at Casey. so he was a detective as well, and had his own task force? for what she wondered.
"the foot got a bit rowdy and i had to improvise.'' Casey stated nonchalantly, Montgomery's eye twitched and irritation and instinctively Eva stepped to the side. "improvise?" he scoffed, "three freight boxes have sunk to the bottom of the hudson river not to mention the amount of damages and press im having to deal with. you're supposed to keep the brothers in line, not let them tear up my city." he fumed, the more they began to bicker back and forth the more Eva became confused. How did fright boxes end up in the river? Why was Montgomery so adamant about the press not getting anything? she cleared her throat slightly causing the two men to pause and look at her now.
"apologies but where exactly am i being stationed?" she asked, despite her even tone she was praying she wasn't about to get fired for talking out of turn. Montgomery leaned back with lifted brows "apologies Eva but you'll be stationed with Casey and his task force." he explained , Eva's brow furrowed slightly. "Jones shows her the ropes and tries not to lose this one; she's like family." Montgomery gestured to Eva before turning his back dismissing them. Eva looked at Jones who was wearing a smirk, he gestured for her to follow him. "Come on, time to meet the rest of the team," he called. Eva moved quickly following Casey out of the precinct and into the parking garage. she climbed into the passenger seat of his hellcat in mild panic, Casey turned over the engine. "So what is this task force exactly?" Eva asked, glancing at him sideways.
"it was a task force created to handle matters involving the foot and other gangs, but we work with...a small group who specializes in them." Casey drawled, "so like a GIU?" she refuted, Casey chuckled. "not exactly, these guys are...off the books in most cases. for personal reasons their identities are not to be revealed to the public." he stated cryptically as he drove.
Eva chewed the inside of her cheek mulling over his words, she shifted in her seat uncomfortably. reaching behind her she tugged out what she was sitting on, inspecting it she noticed it was a roll of tape. "So how did you lose the last detective?" she asked curiously, tossing the tape into the back seat. Casey let out a small snicker "lets just say he was a bit too close minded for what he needed to do, it why you were chosen for this job. Montgomery thought a woman's touch may help, plus from your background check you've done a lot of volunteer work outside of the job. these guys are different and we need someone who can keep an open mind." he explained, Eva hummed glancing out the window.
"My father was best friends with Montgomery, which is probably the only reason I even got this job." She was dismissed. "Now that I doubt. open the glove box thiers files inside that explain what the job entails and specifics." he instructed, Eva leaned forward opening the glove box. a large manilla folder sat on top with a bright red classified stamp. she tugged it out, opening the folder and scanning over the pages.
she flipped through, most of it was basic information repeating the information Casey had told her. She paused, seeing four separate tabs with names on them, Raphael, Donatello, Leonardo, and Michelangelo. "ah you might want to read that before we get there, were about twenty minutes out." Casey informed beside her, she glanced at him before slowly opening the first tab under the name Raphael.
name- Raphael
height - 6'5
weight - 340 lbs (with shell)
Eva paused squinting and double checked she read that right, with shell? "Keep reading, kid." Casey commented, Eva glanced at him but did as she was told.
gender- male
eye color- green
species- mutant turtle.
"What the hell? this has got to be a joke." she muttered looking up at Casey, his face remained bored and unphased. "it's not keep reading." he repeated, Eva scanned the documents further down.
"During a research study in the year 1999 conducted by Eric Sacks and Kirby O'Neil a fire broke out in the laboratory, kirbys younger daughter at the time rescued and retrieved the following test subjects. Raphael, Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and their father are referred to as Splinter. freeing them into Manhattan underground network of sewers the test subjects began to mutate beyond what was originally anticipated for the research program. rapidly growing in size and intelligence, following the fifteen years after the fire the turtles were trained in the art of ninjutsu taught by their adoptive father Splinter. "
"in 2014 Eric Sacks attempted to recreate the mutagen and poison the city of Manhattan to release a cure and reap the financial rewards. in lue of attempting to recreate the mutagen Sacks and the shredder created what is now known as the Foot Clan. April o neil, kirbys daughter began her involvement with the subjects while attempting to investigate leads on the Foot Clan's assaults resulting in April being an active member of the task force. primarily for press involvement relating to the turtles and their existence."
she leaned back in the seat now looking ahead at the road, her face down turned in a small frown. "I remember this, the antenna tower fell, destroying much of the lower blocks. my dad was called in to send men to help with clean up and crowd control." she stated in slight awe, "i wasn't there for that one but i was for the one in 2016." Casey replied, she turned towards him, lifting a brow.
"2016 was when I met them, it's also the Same year the task force started. see the turtles don't have any authority but have been basically running security for the state of new york long before any of us even knew they existed. only a select few know of their existence, now that includes you if you choose to stay.'' Casey explained, he pulled the car under a bridge practically empty except for a few abandoned cars. Casey pulled to a stop in front of a wall and pile of garbage, he flicked his visor down pushing a small button. Eva watched as the wall began to shift and the pile of garbage split apart and an opening emerged beyond the stuff. "So what happens if I decide to say no, what about their secret?" she asked as Casey pulled into the dark tunnel flicking his head lights on.
"the majority of the police department knows except for the newbies that were hired, other than that civilians don't know. it would be a press nightmare for the department and Montgomery so it remains under wraps." he offered, Eva shook her head. "It can't be that simple, cops talk. constantly." she countered, Casey pulled the car in park. "not with them they dont." he stated with a smug smile, Eva scoffed in confusion.
"come on.'' Casey called climbing out of the car and slamming the door, Eva glanced down at the files now. tucking them under her arm she opened her side climbing out, she looked around the space. dark brick surrounded her in a box, tool benches and random ensembles of tools were scattered about the place. a large garbage truck was parked and she stopped looking it over, noting the truck had been heavily modified for what she had no idea. "Ducane.'' Casey called, Eva looked back at him, he curled a finger in her direction. quickly she caught up with him as they stopped at a large garage door, a key bad at the bottom right side.
Eva looked around a bit more as Casey typed in to it, she noted there were a few other vehicles there. a motorcycle and another van, graffiti seemed to dot around the space in bright neon colors catching the eye. "dammit." Casey cursed behind her and she turned around looking at him. "damn code isn't working." he sighed lifting a fist he banged on the door. "Donnie!" he shouted.
a few seconds later the garage door creaked and began lifting, the sound of rushing water emitting beyond it followed by drums? she tilted her head confused, Casey ducked under and Eva followed, stopping just shy of the doors, her eyes going wide. The space was large, decorated heavily in various random objects, signs and new york memorabilia. "Welcome to the lair." Casey gestured wildly with his arms, Eva spun in a circle. The space was massive, the sound of rushing water echoing as she noticed simply put was a water slide directly in front of her. she noticed Casey move, blindly following him she continued to look around.
Noticing heavy Japanese influence throughout, a podium like structure next to the slide. countless incense and candles lit in a circle and a small cushion in the center. her eyes danced around the space, "this is amazing." she muttered.
"thank you miss Ducane, i'm pleased to see you like our home.'' Eva yelped at the new voice turning around quickly. Now just a few feet from her stood a large rat, dressed in traditional Japanese robes and leaning on a cane. "Ducane this is sensei Splinter.'' Casey introduced her, and Eva bowed immediately. "Eva Ducane, NYPD detective." she greeted back before straightening, Splinters black eyes seemed to study her from afar. his ears flicking and his paw sticking his overgrown whiskers which were tied together matching the small bun on his head. "how long have you been serving the city?" Splinter interrogated moving around her, his tail dragging behind him. Eva folded her hands in front of her, following him with her eyes but keeping her head forward. "since i was eighteen, i joined out of highschool with enough college hours to join the academy. i was promoted to active duty in 2018 with the new jersey police department, recently promoted to detective last year and joined the NYPD." she recited continuing to watch Splinter.
"wow Monty wasn't kidding when he said you were clean cut.'' Casey chuckled, placing a hand on his chin. Eva frowned a bit at that, she always had the habit of wearing a facade when she worked. perfection beaten into her from her mother. "ah seems Casey may have pricked a nerve." Splinter shared walking around her.  Eva lifted a brow at the rat as he stopped in front of her. "people see what they chose to see rather than whats really there.'' Eva muttered glaring at Casey, he lifted his hands in mock surrender. "ouch." he teased. ``and what is it that you see when you observe Casey?" Splinter asked, stopping beside her and leaning on his cane.
"Despite his laid back attitude he enjoys and works hard for his job, moreover his attitude seems to be a recurring issue with the chief. He's cocky , arrogant and a bit of a show off, he plays hockey in his free time, evidence to the tape in his car. lives alone, unmarried but is seeing someone from the lipstick stain on his collar. oh and your fly is down." she elaborated, Casey looked down immediately fixing his zipper. Splinter chuckled beside her as Casey combed over his appearance. "I'm mildly offended." he jabbed a finger towards her, she tilted her head shooting him a wink. "You should fit quite nicely here, Miss Ducane." Splinter agreed, lifting his paw towards her. She took it, shaking it and giving him a kind smile.
Splinter released her hand "my sons come greet the detective." he called out into the lair. The lighting in the lair shifted causing her to look up as four large shadows darted around, one by one they dropped behind Splinter. four large anthropomorphic turtles stood behind him, each one wearing a mask in different colors. red, blue, orange and purple. "She ripped you a new one Casey." the one in orange spoke first snickering as he shoved Casey.
" Miss Ducane, these are my sons." Splinter introduced, "in blue is Leonardo the leader, beside him is Raphael, Donnatello and of course Michelangelo." he added pointing one by one to each of the turtles. "pleasure to meet you miss Ducane.'' Leo bowed his head towards her, "please just call me Eva, miss Ducane makes me feel old. no offense sensei Splinter." she greeted waving him off.
"None taken Eva, forgive me. I must retreat to my room for now. Please feel free to ask questions. Donatello and Casey can fill you in on the rest." Splinter dismissed himself shuffling away towards the back of the lair. Eva watched as his door slid shut and the entire group seemed to relax in front of her. "She's hot." Mikey whispered to Casey, Eva lifted a brow at him. Casey tilted his head checking her out. "I will shoot you Jones." she threatened, "hah even she won't put up with your flirting." Raphael muttered with a smug smile.
"anyway, Eva if you could follow me.'' Donatello brushed past them, she nodded as he walked to her right. She noted even with her 5'9 frame Donnie towered over her causing her to crane her neck to look him in the eye. ``You read over the files?" he asked as they walked. "Most of it I didn't get very far into your individual files." she confirmed.
Donatello hummed, he stopped in front of a large set of screens and various bits of information passing through them. a large desk rested underneath various things scattered along it, a large chair in front made of skateboards and curved for what she guessed was to accommodate their shells. "Wow, it's like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs had a love child." she commented, Donatello let out a chuckle. "You code?" he asked, and she nodded. "Here and there were more of a hobby when I was in highschool." she elaborated.
Donatello sat in the large seat now rolling up to the desk, "well this here is my personal network, with all of a hacker's needs. it synced up to the NYPD database and file system allowing us to access them remotely. it also allows me to access the phones distributed by the apartment."
"So you can hack Casey's phone and get all of his dirty secrets for me?" she suggested, Donnie peered at her over his glasses. "As much fun as that sounds, he's got another cell he uses." he commented playfully. "damn." she muttered, Donnie turned towards her. "Can I see your cell?" he asked, Eva reached in her back pocket, taking out the device and handing it to him. "I'm going to install some security software and apps on it, it's more of a precaution for us and the department." he explained plugging her phone in, he began typing away the screens flickering briefly.
a download bar popped up on screen and Donnie turned, folding his leg over the other and resting his hands in his lap. "Do you have any questions?" he asked, Eva opened her mouth before closing it quickly. "Is master Splinter alway that intense?" she blurted, clapping a hand over her mouth in panic. Donnie chuckled at her "only when you first meet him, he likes to get a feel for the people who are recommended for the task force." Eva let her hand fall away.
"Casey mentioned the last guy didn't make the cut." she stated, Donnie tilted his chin in a nod. "Kevin was too close minded, tended to butt heads with Raph  And Leo. Which you'll learn quickly is never a good idea, especially with Raph . you're actually the first female we've had, women tend to be more understand and sympathetic to our...uniqueness.'' Eva hummed in agreement. "Despite how i was raised i try to not judge a book by its cover, according to this file you and your brothers have saved our asses more than once so." she wiggled the folder emphasizing her point. he watched for a second, his eyes darting over her apperance like he was analysing her.
"do you always have the tendency of hiding your tattoos?'' Donnie asked his eyes flicking to her sleeves, her brow furrowed following the motion. given what she was wearing she was positive all of them were covered, she rotated her wrists checking her cuffs. "i um..it's a habit. most men don't approve and my parents definitely don't, doesn't make me look femine enough." she tugged her sleeves down to her wrist concealing the tattoos again.
"may i see them?'' Donnie asked curiously, leaning forward slightly in his seat, Eva blinked slowly at him. she undid her cuffs tugging the sleeves of her shirt up and revealing the tattoos underneath. they covered the majority of her torso, smaller pieces on her stomach, back and chest. she was confused why he was so curious but then again her entire day had been nothing but odd.
"holy shit those are cool!'' Mikey cheered, bounding over towards them with Casey in tow. "woah i didn't know you had tattoos Ducane.'' Casey commented, Eva shrugged. "not really an interview question." she chuckled, sticking her arms out as Mikey bent over looking at them. "How far do they go?" he asked curiously, Eva smiled happily. "my entire upper half is mostly covered." she explained, slightly amused at his childish behavior. "Mikey likes art.'' Donnie muttered as she made an oh expression looking back at Mikey. "you want to see the rest?" she asked tilting her head, his eyes went wide as he nodded enthusiastically.
Eva let her arms drop, untucking her shirt she lifted it over her head revealing the black tank top underneath. "holy shit.'' Casey muttered, glancing over her now. she set her shirt and file on Donnie's desk holding her arms out, Mikey circled around her. "started when i was sixteen and just kind of continued" she explained, soon Mikey began asking numerous questions about them, Eva happily explained each one and their meanings while Donnie and Casey listened in.
Eventually Donnie tugged her phone from the computer and handed it to her, she took it unlocking it instinctively. Donnie explained the app and added security, the biggest addition was a tracking program so they could monitor her location. "We run patrols nightly so if you happen to get into any trouble use that app and we'll come." he explained, Eva nodded to him.
"She set up?" Leo asked, she turned around. Leo and Raph stood now next to Casey. "yup, i'll run her through the open cases back at the precinct." he started lifting his wrist he checked his watch. "time to go kiddo." he informed, Eva's eye twitched at the nick name. "Stop calling me kid." she snarked grabbing her shirt and tugging it back on, buttoning the cuffs she adjusted her sleeves and tucked her shirt back in. "oh come on." Casey groaned "I'll still shoot you." she cut him off, the group around them laughed. Casey scoffed walking away and towards the garage, "it was nice meeting you all." She dismissed herself.
"See you soon sugarcube!" Mikey called as she walked away, she chuckled while following Casey back to his car.
