Third Person's POV -
It was time for the most amazing months of the year, the Indian Premiere League was here. And you were way too excited for your favourites to clash, Shubman and Ishan. And to double up the excitement your best friend Charles was going to join you at the stadium. Yes Charles, the Charles Leclerc.
You were best friend with him and it was natural that wherever he goes, the camera goes. All the people who saw him were in a state of confusion. And if that was not enough, the camera kept on showing him on the big screen.
“Dekhiye to zaara, humare Indian team ke sitare niche ground pe to hai hi, ek aur bade sitare match ka luft utha rahe hai. Yeh Cricket aur F1 ka crossover kaise ho gaya?” said the commentator. The whole crowd was going crazy. Crazy and baffled at the same time because it was almost impossible for him to be here in a IPL cricket match and plus seeing you beside him. They had already seen you with Shubman before so they were quick to recognise you.
During the drinks break Ishan notices Charles and you on the big screen.
“Damn! wow” he said. “What?” Shubman asked while taking a sip from his drink.
“I didn't know Y/N was dating Charles.” said Ishan making Shubman choke on his drink. “WHAT?” he blurted and Ishan pointed the big screen.
And he saw you explaining something to Charles. You were so lost in the explanation and Charles was nodding & smiling at you like an idiot in love. Shubman felt a little ache in his stomach. You were sitting a little too close to him and that made it worse. And the fact you did not tell him that you were going to be there today was not helping much either. You just wanted to surprise him but now it was going the other way.
“She's not dating him.” he states that to Ishan with a hint of annoyance in his voice.
Shubman was not usually the jealous type but boy oh boy was he fuming now. He was not a stranger to yours and Charles's friendship but also not a fan of him either. He did not hate him though. But nevertheless he couldn't do anything about it as well because despite for having feelings for you he never admitted them to you. Literally everybody knew that he had a crush on you. But what bugs Shubman more was that Charles and you had history. It was more of a fling and that too was almost one and a half year ago, then you became best friends. And Charles knows that you have a thing for Shubman as well.
After the match was over you both went down to meet Shubman. “Great job mate! Congratulations on your first win!” Charles greeted Shubman. “Thank you! Thank you very much.. Good to see you here today. How you've been?” he says.
“I am good. Just wanted to some fresh air you know and landed here.' he laughed. “It's really nice. You even have your own personal guide no?” he said eying you.
“Oh the best...We're actually gonna go to the uh- what was it ma chérie?” he trailed off and looked at you to complete his lost sentence. “Ranthambore?” you smiled and Shubman glared Charles when his brain processed at the nickname he just gave you.
“Yes to see the tigers, why don't you join us mate?” he asked Shubman. “I would really like that but I have match next weekend so...” he said even though his next match is in Rajasthan and he literally have to be in that same city.
“Hey man! Hey y/n!” Ishan joined in for a chat. “How are you man?” Charles said.
“Tough luck.” he patted his shoulder. “Yeah it's okay...” Ishan smiled.
“Congratulations on your win captain.” you said to Shubman. “Thank you y/n.” he replied in a flat tone.
“I need to take Charlie back to the hotel and you must be having all the post match things....so I guess we'll meet tomorrow?” you asked as it was kind of late. “Oh it's fine.” he said and as Ishan and Charles were chatting a little bit far he added, “You prefer to spend more time with him than me. Go I'm still here till noon.”
“Excuse me?” you say. “Why is he here anyways?” he snapped.
“He's here to support you, because I support you.” you replied. “Yeah sure I'll believe that.” he scoffed.
“Why does it even matter to you?” “Oh believe me I couldn't care less.” he laughed.
“This is not you. Why are you acting like this?” you asked because he was never like this.
“Like what?” he asked.
“Awwe you poor thing, you are so freaking adorable when you're jealous.” you giggled.
“What? shut up. I'm not jealous.” he quickly replied.
“Sure Shubman.” you bit your lip seeing him like that for the first time.
“Okay I gotta go, Bye. I'll see you tomorrow.” you said as you saw Charlie gesturing 'let's go' with his eyes.
You waved him as he didn't reply. You thought he didn't hear your goodbye but in reality he was ignoring you like you didn't existed and went to his best friend for a chat.
And that was it. You didn't see him tomorrow. You tried calling him, you went to his room but he was not there. On the way back you ran into Spencer so you asked him if he knew where Shubman was and he said,
“Don't know but we're supposed to be leaving in an hour so he must be here somewhere..”
It was like he just disappeared. He didn't even answer any of your calls either. Your and Charles' was flight was in the noon as well. You didn't wanted to leave without seeing Shubman but you had to because he was literally nowhere to be found. It made you angry.
You boarded the flight in the afternoon at 12 and when you reached Jaipur it was 4 and you still had to drive all the way to a ridiculously expensive resort Charles chose to book in Sawai Madhopur. By the time you reached your final destination it was 8 so you two freshen up a little bit and went for dinner.
As it was going to be an early safari tomorrow you decided to sleep early at 9:30.
The next day you were up by 5:00 am and got ready by 6:00 to leave the resort for the safari. Unfortunately your driver was late you had to wait for a bit.
When you two were waiting out in the garden Charles suddenly got up and left.
“Charlie where—?” “One second” he said.
He came back with a little wildflower bouquet in his hand. He had tied up little red poppies, blue cornflower herb and chamomile flowers together with a thin grass.
“Little flowers for my pretty lady.” he smiled handing them to you.
“Thank you Charles!” you smiled even more seeing his perfect dimpled smile.
When he noticed someone in the background his smile changed into a little frown.
“Is that Gill?” he asked.
You turned your head to look in the direction and hoping he was wrong. But it was really him.
“Hey Shub!” Charles called out.
“Why are you calling him here?” you hissed.
“Because he didn't tell us that he was going to be here as well, I want to know..” he said innocently.
“Why?” you glared.
“Bonjour mon ami” Shubman greeted. “Bonjour” Charles took his hand in a bro handshake.
“Sorry we uh it was a sudden change of plan. The boys wanted to go out a little so..” he explained to Charles before he could ask him.
“It's okay man..so glad that you're here” Charles smiled.
Just then a man came to inform you all there that the jeep was here so you and Charles left.
You thought you won't be seeing Shubman's face now till the afternoon but no, his jeep was there right with yours till the whole friggin safari. He watched you two more rather than the jungle and tigers. He watched how close he was sitting to you even though there was much space in the jeep, he watched when you gave Charles half your dupatta to hide under as the sun was very hot, he watched you as you talked and giggled at his words and he watched when Charles helped you put your hair up.
After lunch you three were separated as his jeep went to a different route. Charles enjoyed the beauty of the Ranthambore forest, the impeccable views, the 10th-century fort and he was very happy to see the majestic bengal tigers. You were very lucky to sight two tigers strolling at the bank of Padam talab. At about 6 pm the safari was over and you went back to the resort.
After resting a little you went back out for dinner. Charles wasn't there yet and as you were sitting alone, Shubman decided to joined you.
“Kaisa tha din soniyo?” [how was your day beautiful?] he asked like as if he didn't ignore you for two days straight.
“It was nice. I had a good time. Tumhara kaisa tha?” [how was yours?] you replied.
“It was fine. Boys had fun in the jungle.” he nodded.
“Oh good. How's your hand?” you asked remembering his right pointer finger.
“It's alright. No big deal.” he replied.
You talked for some time and after Charles reached there you three finally ordered food. Charles of course wanted to try the special Rajasthani cuisine but his spice tolerance didn't let him do that. At first he was alright but once the spice kicked in, his eyes went all watery and he couldn’t speak. So he had to go for dal baati and moong dal ka halwa in the end.
It was going to be a long day tomorrow as well so after dinner you wished Charles and Shubman a good night and left for your room.
You are a night owl and there's no way in hell that you will be able to sleep so early. You tried but you couldn't. Also because you were overthinking about Shubman. You pushed off your blanket and sat upright on bed. Just then your phone rang and you got overly excited thinking it maybe him but it was Charles.
“You need anything Charlie?”
“No i just can’t sleep..” he replied.
“Are you okay?” you asked.
“I was thinking that there's a swimming pool here...”
“So?”
“Let's go for a swim. No?” he asked.
“It's like almost midnight?” you said as you had to get up early tomorrow as well. But then you thought you it would help to keep your mind off so you said, “I can't sleep too so why not!”
“I'll come to you then we'll go together.” he said and cut the call.
You put on your one piece swimsuit which you were debating to pack but you took it anyways because it was cute and you never know when you need it like right now. You put on a sarong over your waist, grabbed your important things and waited for Charles outside your room.
You opened Shubman's contact card, thinking of giving him a call but someone bumped into you and you both almost fell down.
“Lady what the fuck—” he cursed but stopped seeing that it was you.
“Y/N?”
“Spencer?”
“Sorry y/n” he said.
“It's okay..” you shook your head.
“Were you going to the swimming pool?” he asked noticing your outfit.
“Yeah” you nodded.
“Oh Shubman is there too..” he wiggled his eyebrow.
“Why would you tell me that?” you frown at his expressions.
“I thought you should know..anyways see you there bye..” he said ran off.
You reached the pool with Charles just after five minutes later Spencer had reached. Your eyes immediately scanned the whole area to find him. And you found him. He was sitting right there on the lounge chair. Shirtless. There were literally no people around except you four.
Seeing both Shubman and Charles half naked at one place was definitely not on your bucket list. It sure was getting hot in there.
Just when you were about to join the boys in the water, you got a call from your friend so you started talking to her instead.
“Y/N come on!” Charles looked over to you with his puppy eyes.
“In a minute..” you replied.
But your call went on for more than 15 minutes...so Charles took matters in his own hands. He got out of the water, caught you off guard by picking you up and threw both himself and you in the water.
“CHARLES LECLERC!! My bloody phone!” you shrieked.
“Don't worry I'll buy you a new one..” he laughed.
“I hate you!” you breathed heavily as you tried to gain some balance in the water by clinging onto his arms.
Shubman watched you two from distance, you cursing Charles and him teasing you. He could feel an unexplained rise of heat in his body. After a while he joined in as well and you had a great time.
As it was almost 2 in the morning you decided to call it a day and hit the sack. You grabbed a towel and headed back to your room. When you were just about to get in a strong pair of hands grabbed you and manhandled into your room.
“When's the wedding?” he said pushing you onto the door.
“Excuse me?” you said not expecting him to say something like that.
“Oh please you're giggling like a schoolgirl when he's talking to you..” he laughed.
“Ohhh...just accept it. You're jealous.” you said giving him a mean smile.
“Please...and wildflowers?” he scoffed.
“what about it?” he definitely saw Charles giving them to you.
“How cliché..” he stated. He was standing very close to you, almost crushing you. You could even feel his hot breath right onto your face.
“It's not. It was cute. He picked them up himself!” you replied. “And why does it bothers you so much?” you added.
His jaw clenched at your words. You thought he'd reply something mean but his actions surprised you as he grabbed your face and kissed you. You didn't protest, you were waiting for it since ages. It wasn't soft, it was hungry like he wanted to devour you. He didn't take much time to slide his tongue into your mouth. His hands trailed down from your face to your hips and he lifted you up. You immediately wrapped your legs around his waist.
Your hands rested on his shoulders for a bit then found their way into his wet hairs. He kissed you until you both were out of breath.
“Took you...long enough..” you spoke between your fast breaths. He just simply smiled and rested his forehead on yours.
Just then you heard your phone ring and you could only think of one guy who would be calling this late.
“Did you guys kiss yet?” Charles asked as soon as you picked up the call.
“umm yes...” you cheeks went red.
“Finally. Shubman was kind of onto me today and it looked like he wanted to commit murder.” he said making you both laugh.
“Where are you by the way? aren't you sleepy?” Shubman asked.
“I was going to take a shower and then maybe go for an ice cream.” he replied and you rolled your eyes at his answer. Typical Charles.
“Charlie it's like 2:30 in the morning?” you said.
“Yeah I know but I just found out that this resort has a really nice vintage ice cream parlor which is open till 4 am..”
“And you were gonna go there without us?” said Shubman.
“I was gonna go with Spencer and if you two lovebirds are done you sure can join us..” said Charles.
“We'll be there!” you replied.
You spent the night eating ice cream, talking and debating Shubman and Charles that they were basic bitches for liking vanilla and, belgian chocolate was a better flavour. Spencer supported you of course.
You all went to sleep very late or rather very early that you had to cancel your next day morning safari and sleep in till afternoon.

[ad_1] Daryl Mitchell celebrating with others (PC: BLACKCAPS/X) Subhayan Chakraborty in Mumbai For New Zealand’s men’s cricket team, their topsy-turvy tour of the sub-continent will come to an end with the third Test against India at Wankhede Stadium. It started with a 0-2 series defeat in Sri Lanka, followed by a headline-making washout against Afghanistan in Noida, and is set to conclude with a historic, first-ever Test series win against India. The Mumbai Test presents New Zealand with the opportunity of a clean sweep on Indian soil, something not achieved by any team since 2000. Daryl Mitchell, who kicked off the sub-continent tour with a punchy 57 against Dhananjaya de Silva, Ramesh Mendis and Prabhath Jayasuriya, is looking to end the series on a high. This is the same venue where he scored a stunning 134 off 119 in the ODI World Cup semi-final, albeit to a losing cause. A match-winning, history-making knock here would offer sweet closure to what has been a gruelling couple of months on the road. Some players travel with their families, but for Mitchell, a Manchester United fan, hobbies are crucial. “I wouldn’t say I’m very very good at it but I enjoy it (playing FIFA now EA FC). There are plenty of guys that are better than me at that,” Mitchell tells RevSportz in an exclusive interview. “I’ve enjoyed (gaming) since I was a little kid. Playing those sorts of games like NBA 2K, FIFA, that’s good fun. It’s really important to have a balance,” Mitchell adds. “For me, obviously being a dad of two little girls as well, having my family on tour, as much as we can, around school, that’s important. We make a big effort with the coffee room and have coffee with each other and some boys play PlayStation. When you can’t leave the hotel as much as you could in New Zealand, when you’re over here in the sub continent, you’ve got to find ways to make it fun.” Football is popular among cricketers, and Mitchell is no different. “Devon Conway thinks he’s good, but he’s not great at FIFA. He’s an Arsenal fan, which I’ve got to hold against him. I am Manchester United fan. So it’s been a tough few years for me,” says Daryl, whose father is a former New Zealand rugby union player and coach John Mitchell. In India, New Zealand’s batters have displayed courage and technique to counter the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Players like Rachin Ravindra, Devon Conway, and Will Young have stood out. Despite not having similar conditions back home, the Kiwis have thrived in testing conditions. Mitchell attributes this to observing top players and applying those lessons in international matches and during his IPL stint with Chennai Super Kings. For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Daryl Mitchell and his teammates after series victory (PC: BLACKCAPS/X) “For me, being a Kiwi, growing up and you know, as kids, we got a lot more grass, a lot more bounce. We don’t face a lot of spin. For us, as overseas players coming over, it’s learning in the early part of our careers and trying to work out a game plan. For me, it was watching some of the world’s best players of spin and how they go about it and how I can add to the strength that I’ve already got as a player and try to adapt that to my game,” Mitchell explains. “That’s how I guess I’ve looked at playing spin. We spend so much time over here in this part of the world now with IPL and other series and tournaments that I guess you’re learning (from) and you’re adapting as you go. And the more experiences you have, the better you get,” he adds. Mitchell has taken inspiration from players like Kane Williamson and former Aussie opener Matthew Hayden. Chemistry among the batting unit is also the key. “First and foremost, our own Kane Williamson. I think he’s probably one of the best going around. I’m lucky enough that I show up to work each day and I can learn from the likes of him,” Mitchell says. “Within our own group, we talk a lot about the way Tom Latham sweeps and we all use our own little strengths that we’ve got.
Watching Hayden as a bigger guy, how he went about playing spin although he’s left-handed. Little things here and there and you try and adapt it to your game and see if it works. “It’s something we pride ourselves on. It is the way we adapt to different conditions around the world. It’s not always going to go your way. You understand that. But we’re very clear with how we prepare for these tours and how we want to go about our plans when we’re playing out there,” Mitchell elaborates. “We also talk a lot between each other and bounce ideas off each other. I think that’s what makes us such a close batting unit. We all understand each other’s games inside out. And we can ask, why are you doing this? How do you do that? There’s no judgment. We’re all working together for the same goal, which is really, really cool and (it) makes it a cool group to be a part of.” Mitchell’s IPL experience, even if limited with Rajasthan Royals in 2022, allowed him to refine his game against spin during training. This preparation shone through in 2023 ODI World Cup where he amassed 552 runs at an average of 69. Before that, he had tallied 318 runs at a strike rate of 142.60 in 13 games for Chennai Super Kings. “For me, firstly, to get the chance in Rajasthan (Royals) a few years ago, though I didn’t play much. I was allowed to train a lot and experiment with some things. To take that into the one-day World Cup over here, and as well with CSK and that sort of role at 3-4-5, of having to manage spin in those middle overs. That’s something, I pride myself on and I enjoy,” Mitchell states. Daryl Mitchell and others during the Test series in India (PC: BLACKCAPS/X) Playing at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, where dominating spinners can be challenging for a middle-order bat, was a highlight for Mitchell. “It’s an amazing experience to be part of that IPL and then to be part of, to play at grounds like Chepauk. It’s a beautiful ground. A lower and slower wicket which creates its own challenges. It’s about adapting as quick as you can to the different surfaces around the country and trying to find ways to put pressure back on the bowlers,” he says. For all-format cricketers like Mitchell, adapting between white-ball and red-ball cricket is a significant challenge. Shuffling between minor technical tweaks and mentality is crucial. How is tackling spin in white-ball and red-ball different? “That’s an interesting question. I pride myself on for playing all three formats. It means a hell lot more to play Test cricket, but also with the two white ball formats as well. It’s adapting your game. You don’t want to go changing too many things within your game,” Mitchell says. “It’s adjusting your risk-taking, your options and weighing up your times to put pressure on them and when not to. In T20, you take more risks than in Tests. But you still try and put pressure on them when you can. So, yeah, being able to play all three formats is something I’m very proud of and hopefully I can keep doing for a long time to come.” Discussing what makes the New Zealand batting unit special, Mitchell emphasised their cohesiveness and playing with the ‘minds’ of the bowlers. “I think you can see the way that we played as a unit in the first two Tests and hopefully we continue to do in the next Test as we want to keep trying to find ways to not let their bowlers bowl good balls for long periods of time. We want to keep finding ways to put pressure on them and ask them to adapt as well. Yeah, they are going to bowl good balls and you got to trust your game. But at the same time, you want to keep trying to score runs as well.” While the focus is on potentially whitewashing India, New Zealand players celebrated their historic series win after the victory in Pune. “It is nice to create history for our country. It’s something we’ve never done. So, we enjoyed each other’s company that night in our team room, but we also understand that we got a Test match to go and we’ve got another
chance to go about doing what we do out in the field and hopefully, that brings a win and we’ll see what happens.” The IPL retention deadline day became a topic before the Mumbai Test. Mitchell, who had been a consistent performer for CSK in the previous IPL, reflected on the thrill of being part of the biggest T20 tournament. “It’s an amazing experience. It’s something I’m very grateful to have been a part of in the last few years and hopefully I get many more chances in the future. We’re taking on the best players in the world in what is such a massive tournament and the crowds that come with it is pretty special. It’s a pretty cool experience to be a part of.” Observing India’s World Cup-winning captain and CSK’s MS Dhoni has been a learning experience for Mitchell, particularly off the field. “I just really respect how he goes about his business. The amount of pressure that he has on him as the face of a franchise in the country, how he can go about being such a humble, nice, quiet guy and so down to earth. I respect him very highly and I was very lucky to share a changing room with him,” Mitchell concludes.
Fantasy sports have taken India by storm, evolving from a niche hobby to a booming industry. With the rise of various sports fantasy apps in India, more and more users are looking for ways to capitalize on their sports knowledge.

Understanding Fantasy Sports
Let's break down what fantasy sports is in simple terms before digging into making money. Fantasy sports can be described as a virtual team of actual players from a particular sport. Points are scored based on the actual performance of those players in real games.
Strategy in picking the best performers is what makes fantasy sports the strategy behind choosing the best and letting one face others for a reward.
Fantasy sports in India
India has a strong sports culture - cricket being the top of the list. Smarter smartphones and high-speed internet facilities have found avenues for fans to view their favorite games.
Over time, several fantasy sports platforms sprang into existence, where people could win money as a consequence of the action. The top fantasy apps in India include Dream11, MyTeam11, and MPL, with millions of users.
How Users Can Earn Money from Fantasy Sports Apps
Earning money through sports fantasy apps in India requires a little strategy, some knowledge, and sometimes luck. Here are the ways by which you can monetize your fantasy sports experience:
1. Join cash contests
Cash contests are the most straightforward way to earn money in fantasy sports apps. Paid leagues are available on all popular platforms, and often, entry fees pay a prize pool. Here is how you can win these contests:
Know the Players: Keep an eye on the form, injuries, and statistics of players.
Scoring Systems: Each app has its scoring system. A user needs to know how points are scored to pick up the right guys.
Diversify your teams: Do not put all eggs in one basket. It helps you enter multiple contests with different team lineups, thus increasing your chances of winning.
2. Refer to Friends and Bonuses
Most of the fantasy sports applications have some kind of referral program. It could be in terms of bonuses or a percentage of what your friends would pay to join the platform. Here's how you can maximize this opportunity :
Use Social Media: Use your social media account to refer friends, sharing the referral link or code, to reach more people with it.
Create Interesting Content: Blog/Video on Fantasy Picks and Strategy with your Referral Link.
3. Utilize Offers and Campaigns
Most fantasy sports apps offer a range of offers like deposit bonus and free entry contests. Track the same and understand how to use them:
Sign-Up Bonuses: Most applications offer welcome bonus for a new user, use these bonuses to participate without risking their own money
Seasonal Promotions: Participate in big tournaments, be it IPL or World cup when most apps offer increased prize pools.
4. Know The Skill of Choosing a Player
A fantasy sports game starts with the selection of good players. Here are a few tips to guide you through this process:
Study Past Trend: Check past game performances and statistics of different players. This will help you predict their future performances.
Follow Tips from Experts: Many sites give the site extra tips by experts. Utilise these to fine-tune your strategy.
Be AWARE of Conditions: Weather, pitch conditions, and venue history might be more than what one would consider while making judgments about the players. Monitor all those variables.
5. Discover Fantasy Sports Communities
Join a community if you want to double your chances to win. You will know many other fantasy sports enthusiasts with whom you can share your strategies, insights, and tips through those communities. Here's how to join them:
Other ways to do that might include
Joining online forums: There are websites and groups in social media where fantasy sports people gather.
Participate in webinars: Apps sometimes have webinars where experts would share ideas, techniques, and approaches.
6. Define a coherent policy
Fantasy sport is the word for consistency. You will come to know which things you must do systematically, and based on that decision, you will decide well. Some elements to consider here:
Budgeting: Set aside a budget for playing contests and stick to it. Do not gamble on a single contest.
Review and Adjust: You have to review after every game or series of games. Learn your weaknesses and how best to improve them.
Top Fantasy Apps in India
With that being said, however, there are countless fantasy sports applications for you to choose from in India, and it becomes essential that you choose the right one that suits your needs. Here's a quick look at some of the top fantasy apps in India:

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB): A Deep Dive into Their Playoff History
Tumblr media
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is one of the most iconic franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Despite their popularity and star-studded lineups over the years, RCB has had a complicated journey in the IPL. The franchise is known for its explosive performances and dedicated fanbase, but the elusive IPL trophy has remained just out of reach. A common question fans often ask is, "How many times has RCB qualified for the playoffs?" The answer is that RCB has made it to the playoffs nine times as of 2024. However, their performance in the finals has been less than fortunate, as they have reached the finals three times but are yet to win the championship.
RCB’s Journey to the Playoffs: An Overview
RCB has had a roller-coaster history when it comes to qualifying for the IPL playoffs. Despite a strong batting lineup and some of the most iconic players in the IPL, the team has struggled with consistency. Let’s break down their playoff appearances season by season:
2009: After a disappointing start in 2008, RCB found their rhythm in the 2009 season. Anil Kumble led the team to their first playoff and eventually to the final, where they faced the Deccan Chargers. Despite a spirited effort, RCB lost the final. However, this marked the beginning of their journey as one of the top contenders in the IPL.
2010: In the 2010 season, RCB maintained their competitive form and once again reached the playoffs. However, their journey ended in the semi-finals, where they were eliminated by the Mumbai Indians. Although they didn’t make it to the final, RCB proved they were a force to be reckoned with.
2011: The 2011 season was a golden opportunity for RCB. They topped the points table, largely thanks to the power-hitting of Chris Gayle, who was in sensational form. RCB reached the final for the second time but fell short, losing to the Chennai Super Kings. It was another heart-breaking defeat, as they missed out on the trophy despite a stellar season.
2015: After a few seasons of inconsistency, RCB bounced back in 2015, reaching the playoffs again. With Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Mitchell Starc in their ranks, RCB looked strong but were eliminated in the semi-finals by Chennai Super Kings. It was another close call, but the wait for their first title continued.
2016: The 2016 IPL season was RCB’s best chance at clinching their maiden title. Virat Kohli was in sensational form, scoring a record 973 runs with four centuries. RCB reached their third final, but despite being favorites, they were beaten by Sunrisers Hyderabad. The loss added to their tally of missed opportunities, as the title continued to evade them.
2020: After a four-year playoff drought, RCB made a comeback in 2020 under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. Although they had moments of brilliance, they were knocked out in the eliminator by Sunrisers Hyderabad. The season ended in disappointment, but RCB’s return to the playoffs was a positive sign.
2021: RCB secured a playoff spot for the second consecutive year in 2021. With consistent performances throughout the season, hopes were high. However, they were once again eliminated in the eliminator, this time by Kolkata Knight Riders. Despite the loss, RCB showed they were building a consistent, competitive team.
2022: In 2022, RCB made it to the playoffs for the third straight season. They won the eliminator against Lucknow Super Giants but were defeated by Rajasthan Royals in the second qualifier. While the wait for an IPL title continued, RCB’s consistency in reaching the playoffs was becoming a hallmark of the team.
2024: In the 2024 IPL season, under the leadership of Faf du Plessis, RCB qualified for the playoffs once again. Although they put up a strong fight, they were unable to make it to the final. With nine playoff appearances, RCB has consistently been among the top teams, but the elusive IPL trophy remains a distant dream.
How Many Times Has RCB Qualified for the Final?
In addition to asking, "How many times has RCB qualified for the playoffs?", another common question is how many times they’ve reached the final. RCB has made it to the IPL final on three occasions: 2009, 2011, and 2016. Unfortunately, RCB has lost all three finals.
2009 Final: RCB’s first final appearance came in 2009, where they faced Deccan Chargers. Despite a strong run to the final, they couldn’t cross the line and finished as runners-up.
2011 Final: RCB was in prime form in 2011, largely due to Chris Gayle’s exceptional performances. They finished at the top of the points table and reached the final. However, Chennai Super Kings outplayed them, handing RCB their second final defeat.
2016 Final: The 2016 season is often remembered for Virat Kohli’s record-breaking run-scoring spree. RCB looked destined to win their first IPL title, but Sunrisers Hyderabad had other plans, defeating them in the final and leaving RCB without a trophy for the third time.
Challenges Faced by RCB in Playoff Matches
RCB’s struggle in the playoffs can be attributed to several factors. Despite having some of the most explosive players in the league, the team has often faltered at crucial moments. Here are some of the challenges RCB has faced in their playoff runs:
Inconsistent Bowling Lineup: One of RCB’s primary weaknesses over the years has been their bowling attack. While their batting, led by stars like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Chris Gayle, has often been their strength, their bowling has lacked consistency, especially in the death overs.
Over-Reliance on Key Players: RCB has frequently relied on individual brilliance to carry them through matches. While players like Kohli and de Villiers have delivered spectacular performances, this dependence has often left the team vulnerable when these stars fail to fire.
Pressure of Knockout Matches: RCB has struggled to handle the pressure in high-stakes knockout matches. Whether it’s nerves or strategic missteps, they have often underperformed in finals and eliminators. Building a mentally resilient team is essential for RCB to go all the way.
What Lies Ahead for RCB?
RCB’s repeated playoff appearances show they are always in the mix, but winning the IPL title remains the ultimate goal. For them to break the jinx and finally claim the trophy, a few key factors will be crucial:
Building a Balanced Squad: RCB needs to focus on assembling a well-rounded team with depth in both batting and bowling. Strengthening their bowling lineup, especially in the death overs, will be critical.
Developing Young Talent: Investing in young players, especially bowlers, will add depth to the team and allow RCB to be more consistent. Nurturing talent will help them avoid over-reliance on a few star players.
Mental Strength in Big Games: RCB’s history in knockout games shows a pattern of faltering under pressure. Addressing this issue and building a mentally resilient squad will increase their chances of finally lifting the IPL trophy.

Conclusion
So, how many times has RCB qualified for the playoffs? The answer is nine times. Despite their numerous playoff appearances, RCB is still in search of their first IPL title. With a strong fan base and a competitive squad, RCB remains one of the most exciting teams in the IPL. As they continue to build and improve, fans hope that the long-awaited IPL title will soon come their way.

Without a question, one of the best batsmen of all time is Steve Smith. However, his fielding skills are as impressive. With lightning-fast reactions, he performs best when positioned at the slips. Steve Smith is such a terrific fielder that if you’ve edged one behind and he’s in the slips, you’d be better off walking without even checking to see if he’s grasped onto the catch. Putting on blinkers and clinging to the simple ones, he will make every catch appear incredibly simple.
Faf du Plessis: South Africa
Tumblr media
In the ODI and T20 cricket formats, Faf du Plessis is among the world’s finest fielders. He has an uncanny ability to read the game and judge the ball’s trajectory and route. He performs best in the mid-on, mid-off fielding positions. He gives it his all every time he’s on the pitch, never holding back either making a deep dive to finish a catch or sprinting behind to take a challenging one. He is a very skilled batsman and captain in addition to being one of the top fielders in cricket, qualities that have helped the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL in recent years.
Ricky Ponting: Australia
Tumblr media
Ricky Ponting is regarded as one of the greatest fielders in cricket history because of his safe catching, powerful arm, and amazing accuracy. He has ran out more batsmen than virtually anybody else. On the pitch, he was incredibly skilled and athletic. Ponting could always be relied upon to aim crisply at the stumps and make impossible catches look simple. Furthermore, Ponting is considered as one of the three greatest batters of all time. One of the greatest players in cricket history, he guided Australia to two World Cup titles as captain.

IPL 2024: SRH, RR Face-Off To Seal Final Date Against Kolkata Knight Riders
Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will lock horns against Sanju Samson's Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Qualifier 2 match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have already reached the final of the 17th season of the IPL, and whichever franchise wins today's match will lock horns against the Kolkata-based franchise at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday.
The Hyderabad-based franchise is in their top form in the IPL 2024 and etched their name on the record book by breaching the highest team total in the IPL three times this season. Earlier, it was Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) 263/5 in the 2013 season which held the landmark of the highest team total in the history of the IPL.
With the likes of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi in the top batting order, SRH have successfully entered the T20 tournament with an aggressive approach. They are the only side to score 100 or more runs in the powerplay this season.
The Rajasthan-based franchise started the season on a good note and kept a four-match winning streak two times in the tournament. However, as time passed and we came into the second half of the IPL 2024, the Royals started to maintain their consistency. In May, RR's first win came in the Eliminator round when they beat RCB to book their place in the Qualifier 2 match.
The Royals don't have a destructive batting lineup as compared to the Sunrisers but they have a fiery bowling attack with the likes of Trent Boult, Avesh Khan, Sandeep Sharma, Yuzvendra Chahal, Nandre Burger, and Ravichandran Ashwin.
The Qualifier 2 match will be an interesting clash as the best bowling attack will take on a destructive batting lineup to book their place in the final match of the IPL 2024.
Hyderabad finished the league stage of the T20 tournament in second place with 17 points and a net run rate of +0.414 after winning 8 of 14 matches. While the Rajasthan concluded their league matches in third place with 17 points and a net run rate of +0.273 after winning 8 of 14 matches.
The Royals are coming into today's match after beating RCB by four wickets in the Eliminator round of the IPL
2024. On the other hand, SRH conceded an 8-wicket loss against KKR in the Qualifier 1 match of the tournament.
Rajasthan Royals Squad: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Sanju Samson (Wk/C), Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Rovman Powell, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Avesh Khan, Sandeep Sharma, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shimron Hetmyer, Nandre Burger, Shubham Dubey, Tanush Kotian, Donovan Ferreira, Navdeep Saini, Keshav Maharaj, Kuldeep Sen, Abid Mushtaq, Kunal Singh Rathore.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Squad: Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen (Wk), Abdul Samad, Shahbaz Ahmed, Pat Cummins (C), Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, T Natarajan, Sanvir Singh, Umran Malik, Glenn Phillips, Washington Sundar, Jaydev Unadkat, Mayank Agarwal, Aiden Markram, Anmolpreet Singh, Upendra Yadav, Mayank Markande, Jhatavedh Subramanyan, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Marco Jansen, Akash Maharaj Singh.

[ad_1] Left: Sourav Ganguly, Right: Delhi Capitals. Source: X Franchise teams aren’t easy to run, and they tend to throw up something out of the ordinary from time to time. The Delhi Capitals story is one such. That there were issues between the two corporates who run the franchise was known. And yet, nothing really surfaced. To their credit, things were kept under wraps for a long time. Having said that, it was always an issue as to how the team would be run going forward. Now, it has been decided that JSW, led by Parth Jindal, and GMR will take turns to run the team for two years at a stretch. While the auction will be done jointly, the Delhi Capitals men’s team for 2025-6 and 2026-7 will be run by GMR. JSW, on the other hand, will run the women’s team for those two years, as well as the Pretoria Capitals franchise. Is it viable? Can such an arrangement ever be implemented in reality, and how it will work on ground are questions that we don’t have answers to just yet. Things have been brewing at DC for over three months now. From what we know, there were multiple meetings before this decision was finally arrived at. In the two years that GMR will run the team, JSW will have no more than a supporting role. The appointment of coaches, senior management, team director and all other executive decisions are likely to be taken by GMR. Two years later, the roles will be reversed and JSW will start taking calls about the men’s team. This also means that Sourav Ganguly, who is extremely close to JSW and Jindal, one of the most passionate and hands on IPL owners, will not be team director for the next two years. He will be involved with the auction, yes, but will not have a hands-on role for the next two seasons. Will such an arrangement give confidence to the players and the support staff? Can such volatility inspire long-term confidence? Who will the support staff be loyal to, and when JSW take over two years from now, will there be new support staff in place yet again? The truth is, none of this is really known. While both JSW and GMR remain tight-lipped, a press release was issued on Thursday. What is also known is that Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav are three players likely to be retained at 18, 14 and 11 crores respectively. With the IPL auction just over month away, the first real test of this arrangement will be then. Will the new support staff led by Hemang Badani take calls, or will it be done in sync? Will too many power centres complicate things for DC? No franchise has ever worked with a similar arrangement before, and in that sense, it is a first in the history of the IPL. Two things to sum up – first and foremost, this arrangement can’t be the best for any franchise. It just doesn’t inspire confidence, and is the result of a governance crisis. Secondly, if results don’t go their way, things could well come to a boil way earlier than the two-year timeframe. It is time now to wait and watch how all of this unfolds.
