Can I request Benimaru introducing his long lost brother Hiiro to his wife and child.
Tumblr media
You had been taking care of some household chores while the baby napped, when you heard the familiar sound of the gate and Benimaru call your name.
“Honey! I wasn’t expecting you so…” Your voice trailed off when you saw that he wasn’t alone. “Who is this?”
“This is my brother, Hiiro.”
You were shocked at Benimaru’s news. “I didn’t know you had a brother?”
“Well, we’re not really brothers. Not by blood anyway.”
“Good as!” Benimaru clipped at Hiiro’s reasonable clarification. “We grew up together in the village, and he was always with us. He protected and looked after us younger kids, so we called him big brother.”
You let out a soft ‘ah’ in understanding. If he hadn’t told you, you wouldn’t have questioned that the two of them were actual brothers. The two of them looked more like siblings than he and Shuna. “Well, welcome to our home. It’s an honor to meet you. What brings your to Rimuru City all of a sudden?”
“It’s a long story.”
The three of you sit in one of the open living areas, and Hiiro tells you the story of his life and how he came to be known as ‘Hiiro’. It seemed a fitting name. As you suspected, Benimaru had never mentioned him because he thought he was dead or something had happened to him, which was why he didn’t come back when the village was destroyed. And vice-versa. This must have been a wonderful surprise for your husband then. To find his long lost friend, comrade, and more or less family member after all this time.
“What about you [Y/N]-sama? What is your story to get here?”
“Oh…it’s a very long, and unpleasant one.” You rebuff while scratching the back of your head. “I don’t want to bore you. And, you can just call me [Y/N]. No need for the honorific.”
“But…you are the Young Master’s wife….”
“Here we’re just [Y/N] and Benimaru.” He told Hiiro. Who still seemed unconvinced, but willing to accept your wishes.
“Well then, if not the whole story, what do you do in the city? Benimaru said you are very capable and had a very important job when we walked over.”
“Did he?” Benimaru grinned at you. “Well, I was an ambassador to the human cities. Acting on diplomatic relations with some of the neighboring countries. But recently—”
As if on que, a sharp cry came from the other room. “I’ll get them.”
“No, stay.” You insist when Benimaru moved from his seat. “You two talk. I’ll get them.”
They seemed to want their mother anyway as [B/N] immediately stopped crying from their nap and reached for you. “This has been my job recently.” You said as you came back into the room with the baby in your arms. “Hiiro, this is [B/N].”
The other kijin seemed mesmerized by the bundle in your arms. You have to wonder if it’s surprise in his brother had a child, or that he perhaps thought he would never see another ogre infant again. “Congratulations brother. They are beautiful.”
“Aren’t they!” Benimaru agreed. Beaming with fatherly pride. “That’s all [Y/N]. Without them, they’d have my ugly mug.”
“Everyone knows how handsome you are, Benimaru. No reason to fish.” You scold him.
[B/N] fidgeted a little, then opened their eyes to the world. The maroon orbs blink as the focus on Hiiro in front of them. Then past Hiiro to their father. Then back to Hiiro again.
Suddenly they were crying.
“What’s wrong?! What did I do?!”
“I think they’re just a little confused on why there are two of you.” You tell Hiiro. Who looked absolutely crestfallen that his brother’s child might not like him. “This happens with mirrors sometimes.”
Hiiro seemed to understand, but still seemed very upset. Who wouldn’t be? Children are inherently innocent. So when one is upset you believe you’ve done something wrong, because what possible wrong could they have done.
Trust in this, it was a peridox you had gone over & over in your head for months since your child was born.
“Come brother. Let’s give them a minute to calm down, and we’ll introduce you properly. I’m sure the next time will be better.”
“Of course.” Hiiro got up with Benimaru, and the two went outside together.
The second time did go better. Until [B/N] started pulling on Hiiro’s hair. He laughed it off, and commented on their strong grip.
You could see why Benimaru and the others thought of him as a big brother. And it was nice to see your family growing even further.

I want you all to know. That I just caught up to Reincarnated as a Slime. Right now. And I almost broke my tv over these two, okay!? The Hiiro X Queen Towa had me every minute with gut wretching ANXIETY. There wasn't a sec where something not fatal was happening!! 👹
Also I really now have my candidate for studio to take on an InuYasha anime remake. The studio behind Slime "Eight Bit" they got the right skill, like listen just watch Scarlet Bond and you'll get me. The movie Canon cause Fuse apparently wrote it and Hiiro made a cameo in the manga adaptation 🥹
It's on Crunchyroll if anyone interested.

Yo the Tensura movie was so damn good, if you can see in theaters I highly recommend it. It's literally just more Tensura in a movie, and it technically fits the canon timeline too
I will say though I correctly guessed the main antagonist literally 10 minutes, but I know about the story beyond the current arc so that's not surprising
The animation and occasional CGI were absolutely fantastic, you can tell they were given crazy budget for this production

[Movie Review & Spoilers] GOT TO LOVE SLIMES! “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond”
youtube
Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fG8fUTen5NI&ab_channel=CrunchyrollCollection

Reincarnation has been a popular premise in anime and manga (generally fiction as a whole) for some time, allowing characters to come back from death in a new form and allowing them/us to explore a different version of life in another world or the same one from a new perspective.  That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is one such series, and it is one of my favorites with its ridiculous plot progression that jumps from final boss-level worries in one episode to the internal drama of a tight-knit community in the next (not to mention the fantastic cast of characters). Therefore I was ecstatic to learn that the series was getting a movie, Scarlet Bond, and even more delighted to find that there would be an international release.
DUB vs. SUB
The movie was equally as entertaining as the show and manga. I ended up seeing the film twice. Once in Japanese with subtitles and once with English dubbing. There were some minor changes between the two texts, like Towa’s ending speech or how characters responded to some things, but I wouldn't say that it changed the meaning of the scenes in any significant way. To be honest, I found the dubbed version to be more enjoyable. While I am used to subtitles and have a slight grasp of Japanese, I was able to really take in the art and the action scenes better when I wasn't trying to switch between reading and watching on the big screen. Moreover, the voice actors for the new characters–specifically, Towa and Hiiro–were phenomenal.
Part of my favorite thing within the That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime anime is the over the top fight scenes and this movie was no different. There was some dramatic ones, there were some flashy ones, and there were ones that just looked epic. I felt like I got to enjoy these more when I was watching the dub version, because I could pay more attention to what was happening on screen. With the subtitled version, I was definitely reading a lot and there times when the subtitles disappeared too quickly for me to finish the sentence or second line of text. While I wasn't sure I was missing too much because the context was pretty straightforward, it certainly made me feel a little frustrated.
[Spoilers] Should I see it if I haven't watched the show?
No. I would not recommend seeing this movie if you haven't seen the show. Firstly, the movie opens in the midst of troubles with the Demon Lord Clayman (the Orc Lord arc), and there are a lot of things that tie in with events from Season 1 and Season 2 of the anime. I could maybe see missing Season 2 and still understanding the set up for the movie, but you'd need the context of Season 1 to fill-in some of the larger blanks since there aren't really character introductions. I think a lot of anime movies which continue a series tend to give brief characters introductions, and this one sort of does but it's not so much that I think you could miss Season 1 and still get the gist of the dynamic (at least, that's my opinion). Note: The movie picks up directly after Season 2, so there is not a big time gap between the events seen in the film and the show.
My Feelings
I loved the movie. I loved the new characters–particularly Hiiro. I loved the animations. I thought that the opening action scene was epic and emotionally impactful. I felt invested in the progression of events and loved seeing the characters work out what was happening.
I thought it was excellent and would rate it a 9/10. I give it a 9/10 only because I saw it in theaters but this would have received a 10/10 had I watched from home. It was worth the ticket prices to me, because I wanted to see it in theaters but this was probably one I could have enjoyed from home in a pay-to-watch sort of situation on Amazon Prime, YouTube, or–if they had the option–Crunchyroll/Funimation.
If you are a fan of the series, definitely add this to your watchlist!

Anime of the day: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: The Movie - Scarlet Bond
Tumblr media
Alt title: Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken Movie: Guren no Kizuna-hen
Released: 2022
This is a movie spin off about Tempest aiding a small cursed country called Raja. Benimaru and his older brother figure Hiiro reunite. I’m on volume 17 of the light novel, and so far I have yet to see this story pop up, so it’s probably not canon, think Naruto movies. However, it was nice to see everyone in action again.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: The Movie – Scarlet Bond (2022)
A fun watch with a focus on the Kijin characters that connected to the plot of the film. It was also satisfying for Diablo to have some time to shine. I liked the newly introduced characters, Towa and Hiiro, and was invested in them having a happy ending.
They avoided throwing more big events directly at Tempest by introducing another nation under threat (though it seems like dealing with Veldora and Milim playing back home was eventful enough), but the threats were nothing that Rimuru and company couldn't handle with aplomb.
The highlights of this film were definitely the action sequences, which involved highspeed chases as well as a variety of dynamic fights. I also enjoyed the quieter moments of reflective conversation between characters and the importance given to the kindness of Towa and Rimuru as leaders.
I casually enjoyed this film as I never felt like Rimuru and his friends from Tempest were in legitimate peril but the story was eventful and entertaining.
