This is one of the things I'm really sick of from Democrats, this way they have of saying "HOW CAN YOU SAY THIS PERSON IS BAD? LOOK AT THIS PIC OF THEM PETTING A DOGGO!"
They did this shit with Obama, like "Aww look at this Pic of him smiling with his family!" while the dude's drone program was wiping out 99 civilians for every 1 actual legitimate terrorist target in Rural Pakistan and Afghanistan. While his administration ran guns to Mexican Drug Cartels. After he'd had two US Citizens executed via drone without due process or judicial oversight. After he signed Habeas Corpus out of existence. Etc. Etc. Etc.
Like a bunch of toddlers having keys jangled in their faces, I swear. Harris and Walz are just the next occurrence of the same phenomenon.
Listen, staning politicians is bad. We must remain critical of people in power.
However it is funny to watch Republicans act like this man is the devil incarnate.
This is democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz Gov. Of Minnesota. This man looks like if a capybara was a person. He looks like he'd pull over on the side of the road and help you change a flat tire. He looks like he'd offer you hot coco from his thermos if you were out ice fishing with him.
#Please note this is not an attack on Walz himself#Or an accusation of anything#I'm just tired of this vapid shit#And of people acting like politicians are their beloved aunts and uncles or some shit#Rather than members of a ruling class#That is apathetic to us at best and hostile towards us at worst

Why I Can See Ford Pines as Demisexual
I see a lot of people headcanoning Ford to be ace/aro which is valid, especially after Bill joking/wondering if he's plansexual due to Ford saying he's attracted to preparation and logic. So I thought I'd toss my two cents in and say I can see him more as demisexual.
He's definitely dated before, as mentioned in the journal, but I think the guy probably struggled a lot to connect with people on a base level (whether platonic or not) due to receiving hostility towards his six fingers and not having much positive social interaction outside the family. When he did receive positive interactions, it was towards his academic endeavors (I say this, including his parents and school).
Let's not forget that the 30 years of running for his life didn't help with trusting people easily. Stan was his best friend, and maybe that could've been enough if things didn't take a hard turn for the worst. We see a few times in the journals/BOB how Ford feels lonely even when arriving in Gravity Falls. I think he really wanted companionship/friendship outside of his brother. And he had that with Fiddleford and what he thought with Bill as well. Kind of blinded him to the fact he was being used until it was too late, and that's taking into account Bill was an evil triangle con man.
Not to mention his work ethic was all over the place and lowkey unhealthy? The guy barely got any rest, I doubt he'd prioritize a relationship over his life work anytime soon or be able to manage both.
I feel like he personally puts the person's intellect, lifestyle, etc etc all into consideration as you would with a friend. Like what do you have in common or not, do you also believe in the supernatural and things like that. Literally just a friend and that would be enough, doubt he's actively looking for something more at his age— guy has a lot of catching up to do with family.
He's a smart fella, a bit too smart, but maybe comes off apathetic (as shown in the show), so maybe having someone who can handle that and clock it while not seeing it through the eyes of romance works well. And having trust issues, understandably so, would maybe have a relationship take some time regardless of what kind. He would need to build up some type of emotional bond/trust, especially after Bill.
There are some folks recently saying Ford shows symptoms of have Narcisstic Personality Disorder (NPD) which is quite interesting and after rewatching the show I can understand with the moments we were given.
But idk, when I think about it maybe Ford wouldn't mind romance if he overcame the hurdles of mistrust, certain social expectations, his own ego, better work schedule (with the help of the twins & Stan) and many more things I'd speak on in another post. But does anyone else agree? I can always make a headcanon post on what being with Ford would be like if asked in the ask box.
(I'd appreciate all the reblogs & likes please, trying to be more active :] )

Lately I've been thinking a lot about the distinction between "ethical acts that make people feel positively towards you" and "ethical acts that don't actively make people feel positively towards you" because I feel like people in general care quite a bit about the former but are most of the time at best apathetic and at worst actively hostile towards the latter. Like...okay for example. It's definitely a good thing to like, give money to a homeless person. But I think it's unambiguously a *more good* thing to give money to an effective charity like the against malaria foundation. Because like. It helps people more. It's better for the same reason it's better to give a homeless person a dollar than a quarter.
But I think your average person cares considerably more about the former than the latter, because the former makes a person feel positively towards you and the latter doesnt. The most extreme case here is tipping. Like. Tipping at a place you'll never go again is effectively charity (I mean you could make some sort of contract ethics argument. But I don't think any of us want to be contract ethicists). But I think generally people would think you less virtuous if you switched from "guy who always tips" to "guy who calculates the tip and then donates it to AMF"
And then like. Obviously there's vegans. They fit very neatly into this

Geo cult hear me out-
geo vs sol
How would that go down? Especially since sol is best friends with hyugo. Geo dislikes hyugo while hyugo cares about geo (at least from what we know). Sol is strong physically but geo has body guards and was stated to be good with weapons especially archery.
The outcome may change depending on MC, who their preference is (geo ofc ❤️)- and which route mc takes. but if MC was unsure or didn't care then what lengths would they go to?
Geos advantages
same friend group; close with crowe (how close is unsure but the fact that they are friends says alot). Crowe is close w/ us and has our trust, crowe could get MC to like geo. idk how this could be used as I doubt geo would ask crowe to do this, but what if crowe notices and does it out of kindness for Geo? Not just crowe, but deryl talks good about geo too.
rich; has connections (to the citys founder) & body guards (who are armed with katanas)
popular
Good with weapons, relatively strong. Extremely close with deryl (who's the strongest physically in the whole cast). I dont doubt that deryl would be willing to throw hands for geo if worst comes to worst.
Probably more mentally stable than sol
Could probably expose sol for stalking us or something
Being with him literally guarantees a stable life, hes rich and mc and him would not only be happy together but financialy stable!! A fairy tail 😇
Geos disadvantages
Clearly emotionally constipated, would probably SUCK at being affectionate.
Intimidating, he death glares us and tells us to leave when we ask a question.
Doesn't take action. hes the type to wait for a confession. depending on the type of person mc is, would cause problems.
He seems hostile, not only to strangers but to his friends (clearly in a more affectionate way).this would scare away a timid mc, or even IF mc was outgoing, i feel like geos hostile attitude would just drive mc away sooner or later.
Sols advantages
Hyugo, from our interactions with hyugo he is clearly sols wingman and is trying to get us together
Takes action, unlike geo he asked us for our number (depending on the route). And he is clearly more likely to take romantic advances
Affectionate, hes cheeky / kind with us from the get go, and even after knowing him for only 2 days mc trusts him alot due to how kind he is. Things would progress much more faster.
Protected us in day 2 (depends which route), mc owes him alot, not only that but mc got to see how much sol cares for them, "this man was crying for you". Unlike geo sol would cry and is more willing to be emotional
Strong physically, his skill with weapons are unknown, but if it were just a pure fist fight then sol would win
Probably better at communicating feelings
Sols disadvantages
Mentally unstable and a stalker, being more realistic, this would scare off mc and have a restraining order
Lacks emotion for those other than mc (and hyugo?). If mc had close friends he would be seething of jealousy, and apathetic towards them and again would push mc away because of his possessiveness.
While both sol and geo are jealous, geo doesn't get jealous often, its just that when he does he gets REALLY jealous, and adding the fact that geo isnt as crazy and sol, he would be more reasonable in his jealousy, like he wouldn't get pissy because we are hanging out with our friends like sol does in day 2 ending. Geo likely understands we each need alone time and time with friends and family.
(im not sure about family, as in one of fantasias asks its stated somthing along the lines of "he was to claim a spot in your family)
has crazy rumors surrounding him, its not clear ingame what these details contain, but knowing sol they are probably somewhat true
SORRY FOR RAMBLING!! I didn't proofread so it might be messy... (゚▽゚*)
Hmm, the Geo cult have taken your query into admission, and you shall not be trialed for heresy...yet. (don't worry, you're all good, fellow cultist enjoyer.) ₊˚⊹ ᰔ (˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
Anyway, I assume this is going to involve me pitting Geode and Sol against each other, so...enjoy. <33
- Signed by @biggest-geo-oogami-enjoyer
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'll be honest, for this fight to even happen we need these two in the same place at the same time.
Which will be difficult...unless we utilise our magnificent MC powers to get them to do whatever we want.
Taking all your points into account (which are excellent, good job btw), I genuinely think Geo will win.
Is it because I am devoted to him? (Yes /hj). Perhaps, but let me explain.
Geo has 4 friends (5 if we include you), one of whom being stronger than Sol (Deryl), and I see Deryl as a cute little retriever that'll go rabid if someone attacks who it loves/cares about.
Deryl won't let Sol get remotely near Geo.
Same with Brittney, if she got involved, she'd use the #gossipgyaru perks she has to try and fuck up Sol's rep even more.
Would be the one to give you a talk on why Sol's dangerous.
Geo also has bodyguards, along with a fuckton of money.
He could easily hire a hitman or bribe the police to ensure he has no legal trouble.
Also probably knows Hyugo well enough, so he'd probably be prepared for things his big brother is capable of.
Will use his popularity to get people to ensure Sol is far away from him (and you).
May not be as handy in a fistfight, but has prime access and ability to wield a wide range of weapons against Sol. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ However, these are the most...social and physical sides of a fight. What about you? ------------------------------------------------------------------------
To win you over, I feel like Geo would simply get you to warm up to his friends, then him.
After all, you'd be significantly more comfortable and relaxed around him that way, right?
Despite being fucked when it comes to emotion/affection, Geo is perfect at other things.
Like keeping you safe from the man who watches you sleep.
It honestly horrified you when you found out.
And you never spoke to Sol again, hell you even got a restraining order against him.
Will make his group and himself look angelic to try and get you to warm up faster.
Despite his cold geode-like exterior, will try to warm up to you (Deryl is astounded, to say the least).
Will probably tell you Sol's from a fucked home and needs psychiatric help.
You might also just start believing it.
#reminder that geo is superior#the kid at the back#tkatb#tkatb vn#geo subaru oogami#geo oogami#sol brugmansia#tkatb geo#tkatb sol#solivan brugmansia#this was so funny

@someoneinthestars asked me How do you think Maedhros' relationship was with other fugitives? I love your blog❤
I have a number of posts on this, you can find them in the post Angband tag! But I always want to talk more about this so!
The subject and status of former prisoners in Beleriand is one of my very very favorite topics! Please always feel free to ask more!!
I think Maedhros has a complicated relationship with other former prisoners of Angband. He doesn’t actually meet a lot. Ex thralls tend to stray without staying in one location for long. The House of the Hammer of Wrath is an obvious exception to this, and I do think there is a small population in Himring (I talked about this most recently here) But in general, they’re wanderers, even those who weren’t released to carry the will of Morgoth, those who eventually return. Some like Gwindor will make it home but this is rare. Former prisoners are treated with suspicion at best, hostility at worst and even in locations where they find more acceptance or can return to those they knew, they often struggle so much adjusting to the now completely alien world of life outside Angband that they leave.
It doesn’t help that at the time of Maedhros’s rescue up and while Himring was being constructed, the majority of former prisoners were not Noldor (though some ex thralls do tend to avoid, disregard or simply not be aware of other Beleriand politics)
the view of Maedhros in the eyes of ex prisoners varies
There are those who revere him and wish to follow what they see as extraordinary strength in his quest for vengeance. Some see him as a sanctuary. I’ve talked before about the monumental task of adapting to life outside the context of coercive control. Anyone who might understand or be sympathetic to this can be highly elevated.
There are those who resent him whether because of rumors from the fortress itself, rumors on the outside, or because he had people he could return to and not just return to but lead. Many fear him, just as their kin do though their fear may take a different shape than that of the feared kinslayer.
Maedhros’s view of them also varies, depending on the day and his mood. Former prisoners are not uncommonly pitted against each other, pressured intentionally or otherwise to clearly disprove any mistrustful notions about those who have been inside Angband and this can often involve using others in the same situation as a point of comparison. Betrayals are not inevitable but they do happen in the desire for acceptance or simply peace. Maedhros certainly at times feels the need to prove that he is fully devoted to the war against Morgoth and this may or may not involve distancing himself from other former prisoners. It’s not an urge that he always obeys but it’s nonetheless there.
In general though he is empathetic towards them, at least until the Nirnaeth.* He is apt to be moved by the experiences he himself knows only too well, the staring and rumors and questions of loyalty (made worse by the simple fact that there were those who were released who feel that particular pull to the Dark Lord), the doubting your own mind, the mistrust and even hostility, not to mention the actual trauma of captivity and torture.
* (post Nirnaeth Maedhros is just sort of apathetic to everyone).

TW below: mentions of drugs, alcohol, self-harm, and past sexual abuse
Name: Tenn Species: Irken Age: Unknown (times works strangely in space) Pronouns: She/They Height: SHORT (anywhere between 2'5"- 3'5") Health: Suffers from PTSD and Addiction Personality: Tenn is a grumpy bug and will get hostile if given a reason, but she'll be apathetic towards you most of the time. Once she's warmed up to someone, she tends to get cuddly (platonic cuddling with an equal amount of grumpiness if you make a big deal about it). Irkens are social, cold-blooded creatures so snuggling up to a heat source doesn't seem unreasonable to her. She enjoys music a lot. Musical instruments and singing fascinate her and her favorite possession happens to be a record player. They give off unique vibrations that she finds soothing. She's bitter about her past and drinks to cut off memories and emotions. Drinking also makes her more agreeable and tolerant towards those who grade on her nerves. Sober Tenn is much more on edge and ready to snap if provoked. She has poor coping skills and problems adjusting to stress. Tenn's worst nervous tics involves scratching which cuts through the skin if it goes on for too long. The most common scratching spots are around the neck/shoulder/back area where it looks like she's trying to reach her PAK. These are all subconscious actions and not purposefully intended to be self-harm. History: Tenn was a highly skilled elite soldier, trained to fight and kill, starting as a young smeet in the academy. When given the role of invader, she was assigned planet Meekrob, inhabited by beings of pure energy. Her mission was sabotaged and resulted in her capture. She suffered greatly as their mercy– psychologically inflicted torture, infiltrating her mind through psychic powers. They eventually released her as a prisoner once it was clear she was useless as a soldier to the Irken Empire. She gave up the invader title, her mission, and her loyalty to the Empire after they left her there to die. Tenn allowed everyone to believe she died and took the opportunity to go into hiding. If caught, she would most likely be deactivated for treason and defectiveness. Because the tallest do their best to avoid Zim, she chose Earth as the best place to hide. Tenn has a strong distrust for her own Irken technology so she tries to distance herself from it. She avoids using her ship and refuses to set up a base. Being surrounded by something that can dangerously malfunction gives her extreme anxiety and stress. When PTSD episodes are triggered, her behavior can be unstable, erratic, and unpredictable. At her worst, Tenn "blanks out" in a delusional haze and acts much like a caged feral animal, ready to attack others if perceived as a threat. Her PAK is fully functional but her time on Meekrob left her feeling broken and defective due to her mental wounds and illness. She self-medicates through obsessive drinking but is still a functional alcoholic. To get wasted, Tenn needs to use drugs to overload her PAK, slowing it's process of filtering the alcohol from her system. Sexuality: Tenn should be ace but it's a complicated topic. Irkens had long ago abandoned procreating with each other and replaced it with machine gene mixing and cloning techniques. Sexual desire has been bred out of them and the act is highly taboo in their culture. Most Irkens don't realize they have genitalia since it's all tucked inside a cloaca, but sexual desires still remain dormant inside them. These instincts can be hacked and retained through enough sexual stimulation to the groin. While on the run, Tenn's addictions were taken advantage of, and was coerced into acts that awoke those urges. It's not easy for her to come to terms with it. She becomes frustrated and agitated when aroused because it doesn't feel normal to her. She views it as another "defect" and something to be ashamed of.
Note: I LOVE shipping with Tenn, but unless you're looking for dubcon, it'll take a lot of work for her to feel comfortable in a sexual relationship

Strawberries
@post-itpenny
Since your boy Atlas is in this and he has an awkward encounter
Strawberries…
Really?
He didn’t want to say it in front of Ula, but Atlas thought that was just so darn strange.
Strawberries. Milkshake. Schrader…
Oh shit, this was bound to be weird. Awkward. Hopefully, not hostile.
Atlas gave a sigh as he trotted along a sidewalk in front of a parking lot. He followed the path down until finding the front of a restaurant, causing him to sigh deeply as he looked up at its entrance. The first and last time he went in there, things did not end very well.
However, Atlas put this aside as he held his breath, opening the door as a bell run above him and he entered to eventually walk up to the employee who assigned seatings.
“Table for one?”
“Actually, could I hang out over there by the counter?” Atlas pointed to the mentioned area, so the employee nodded before allowing Atlas to escort himself to the counter. He sat down on one of the stools, placing his hands on the counter as a man approached him.
“Hey, don’t I know you?”
“Uh, I don’t think so.”Atlas slightly shook his head, but the man wagged a finger at him.
“No, no, no. You look rather familiar.” the man insisted, examining Atlas who gave a shrug. “Nah, maybe I’m just imagining things. I’m an old geezer you see.”
“Don’t look that old.” At;as gave a soft chuckle. “But uh, is...what’s his last name...I never learned it…is Schrader here?”
“Schrader? Why, sure he is. Just serving up some customers before he goes on break, whether he like it or not, hehe. What do you need him for?”
“I just need to ask him for something. When does he get out of work?”
“Well, that boy…”the old man shook his head somewhat disappointed, giving a deep sigh. “That boy never takes break, starts early in the morning and tends to finish early in the morning. Sometimes he never eats. If he keeps that up, he’s gonna look older than me! Already has dark circles under his eyes. Anyways, I’ll go call him over for you.”
“Cool, thanks.” Atlas waved to the man who walked through the side opposite from Atlas, eventually disappearing as the deer clown played with his fingers. Maybe he should have gone to buy the strawberries first, it would be a lot more awkward if he came for Schrader and then said that he needed to buy some fruit, Schrader coming along...damn. Well, that was only if he actually came along, he learned more about this guy thanks to Ama.
“What are you doing here?”
Speak of the Devil.
Atlas broke out of his thoughts and looked back up to where the old man had previously been, spotting Schrader who stood with crossed arms, holding a rag in one of his hands.
“Um, hi.” Atlas awkwardly cough, adjusting his glasses before looking Schrader in the eye. He could sense some kind of tension going on in between them, but it was best to talk as cautiously as possible to not repeat the other night’s happening.
“Schrader, hi. How have you been?” Atlas now cleared his throat as Schrader gave an apathetic stare. “Okay, I hope everything is going well for you then-”
“Get to the point, I’m working.”
“Right, right.” Atlas nodded, then glancing at Schrader once again who’s expression did not change in the slightest bit. “I need...a bit of a, favor? It’s not necessarily tha-”
“You’ve got to be kidding me, a favor?” Schrader interrupted as his expression now changed into an odd one with a hint of confusion. “After everything that’s happened between us. I thought that helping find Ula would be en-”
“That’s precisely the point!” Atlas quietly exclaimed as he leaned in closer towards Schrader. “You see, this is about Ula.”
“Ula?”Schrader frowned. “What do you mean by that?”
“It’s really good that you still really care about Ula because I trust you enough to not tell anybody about this. Ula woke up today and...she was acting a little, ‘off’. She...have you seen that scar on her back?”
“I was her boyfriend Atlas.”
“Alright then, the point is, that scar on her back hurts. That scar hasn’t hurt her ever since she got it basically and I checked the stitches. The wound looked somewhat ‘fresh’ and the stitches like they had been reapplied just recently.”
Schrader gave a weird face at everything he was hearing, then leaning in as he propped his elbows on the counter Atlas also leaned against.
“And you see, this is probably not important but even Cordelia found it to be very weird. It was even weirder with how she practically demanded it.”
“Demanded what?”
“Ula...had this desperate craving...for strawberries.”
“Strawberries?” Schrader turned to the side, pondering at that statement for a moment. “This sounds too familiar.”
“Familiar? What do you mean?”
“One time she came to visit me here late at night. She always orders a peanut butter milkshake but on that night, she specifically asked for strawberry.”
“So...do you think it’s normal then?”Atlas was clearly worried and hoped that it sure was normal. “Because both you and I know Ula doesn’t like to eat fruits and veggies, so, maybe this is just some random craving she gets once in a while?”
“No, it can’t be.” Schrader shook his head while still thinking to himself, eventually turning to Atlas. “Ula doesn’t like the taste of fear on her prey, what makes strawberries any different? Her mother and siblings hate fruits and vegetables as well, and it’s not normal for her to suddenly have a need for something she hates eating.”
“Well her mom did crave mangoes when she was pregnant-”
“Trust me, that’s not the case and it has nothing to do with hormones. I know. Don’t ask.”
“Okay then...well, I do have to ask one thing though.” Atlas leaned in even closer to Schrader who scrunched up his face, not liking such proximity. “The day you brought in Ula, neither you or Ama mentioned where you found Ula.”
“So?”
“Please Schrader, I need to know. We all searched for Ula for a week or so and found nothing, not even a clue. But you, we tell you she’s missing and you find her the next second!” Atlas pleaded to Schrader who really didn’t want to give an answer. “Please Schrader, it’s pretty damn concerning to see an old wound of hers that nearly killed her just hurting all of a sudden and literally showing that somebody stitched her up again.”
“The lighthouse.”
“What?” Atlas was now the one with a scrunched up face, confusion written all over it. “No, that can’t be-”
“There’s a spot on the island that Ula never showed you or Ama, only me. We found her in there with vines wrapped all around her.” Schrader gave a sigh while running a hand through his hair, feeling ashamed for telling. “She was unconscious and it took her a while to wake up. She was surrounded by some glowing flowers…”
“You need to take me th-”
“No.” Schrader firmly said, even startling Atlas a bit. “Ula swore me to secrecy, so you can’t even mention that place. You pretend you never even heard me say these things to you. I’ve already upset Ula enough.”
“Schrader, who’s this young man?” the pair turned to the side where the man from before came, standing next to Schrader. “I met him a while ago, he’s the one that sent for you of course.”
“Oh, Sonny-”
“Schrader!”
“Relax, this guy’s one of those too.”Schrader shrugged off the old man’s concern. “This is Ula’s boyfriend, the guy who came by the other night with Ama.”
Atlas saw as the old man turned to Atlas, his kind expression taking an immediate turn to a glare which surprised Atlas.
“So you’re the-”
“Sonny.”Schrader turned to him, giving a shake of his head. “It’s alright.”
“But Schrader, this is the kid who-”
“I said it’s alright.”
Sonny gave one last glance at Atlas before patting Schrader’s back, walking away as he still wasn’t alright with the interaction taking place.
“Is that your dad?” Atlas took a peek at the man who had now gone off to serve others sitting by the counter.
“Here, let me give you the details so you can figure that out yourself book worm.” Schrader gave an annoyed look, holding up a finger for every thing he said. “We look nothing alike. He’s a deadlight. I literally called him by his name. And I don’t have any parents.”
“What?”
“At least not a decent one. The one parent I do have is the fucking worst.”
Atlas stared at Schrader in silence, not knowing in what other way to react. It was a real surprise to hear that, but then again...maybe that was why, from what he could tell at the party the other day, his brother was so involved with him. He scratched behind his neck at first, looking around at anything other than Schrader due to the awkward mood that was now set. So the, Atlas reached a hand out to Schrader, gently patting his shoulder in a comforting manner.
“What the fuck are you doing?” Schrader made a weird face before Atlas retrieved his hand, looking away somewhat flustered as he replied with a small shrug.
“Look, Schrader...maybe you don’t have such a great parent, but you’ve got your brother who seems pretty okay and all. And...and you’ve got cool friend who care about you too, even that guy who was ready to plummet me into a hole.”Atlas shrugged yet again. “You don’t have to go through things alone.”
“What is this, a therapy session?” Shrader plainly stared at Atlas before heading towards one of the milkshake stations that was right by. “Look, you came here to tell me about Ula and that’s it. Now what does she need?”
“Well for starters, strawberries. Like, she just badly wants some.” Atlas coughed, trying to forget what had just happened. He then saw as a box of strawberries was plopped right in front of him.
“What else?”
“I could have gone to bu-”
“What. Else.”
“A strawberry milkshake.”
After some time, Schrader then placed a strawberry milkshake in a disposable cup in front of Atlas who started to take out his wallet.
“Don’t pay, just tell me what else.”
“But I ins-” Atlas started, noticing Schrader’s expression that made him nod before speaking again.”This might sound a little weird but...you…?”
Once again, Schrader gave Atlas a weird look. This guy pretty much had that face reserved for Atlas.
“She asked about you, wanted to see you and I...said I would...bring you over to her…” Atlas explained with a nervous chuckle. “So, um…”
“No.”
“Sorry, what?”
“I’m not going.” Schrader crossed his arms. “Besides the fact that my shift isn’t over and won’t be anytime soon, I don’t want to be going back there or around any of that family. Fuck, I didn’t even want to be aroud you.”
“Well, I can understand that...but, is that really more important than Ula?”
“Look, you don’t understand what goes on in my life. Like I said before, I’ve already upset Ula enough and you know what’s happened between you and me. I don’t want to bring anymore trouble, it’s best I stay away from everybody. Especially Ula.”
“What trouble? None of what happened was your fault.” Atlas was now the one making a weird face at Schrader. “I’m pretty sure we both know how Davey is with his sister’s suitors and-”
“This isn’t just about Davey. It’s everyone.”
“Dude. Can I call you dude?”
“No.”
“Okay. Schrader, if you’re saying that nobody in that family wants to see you, you’re completely wrong.”
“Highly doubt that.”
“Schrader, look, I have to admit.” Atlas gave a deep sigh as he ran a hand through his hair. “Everyone in that family from what I can tell, they all love you.”
“That’s not-”
“Jelly and Lennie, Ula’s parents, literally treated you like a son! They were there asking if you needed anything at all. Your band friends, all over you. And don’t get me started with the kids...they were clinging onto to you like you were Santa Claus about to give them all their gifts before it’s even Christmas!” Atlas exclaimed, making a few people turn to him before he quieted down. “Look Schrader, you don’t see it, but we all do. And hell, if you don’t believe that any of those people care about you...at least believe me when I say that Ula does, and she really wants to see you right now.”
“I agree with him.” the pair looked over to see Sonny once again, patting Schrader’s shoulder. “I suggest that you go and see your...friend, Ula.”
“I have to work.”
“Don’t worry about it, you know I always cover for you if not pretend you’re still here. And besides, you need a break, so I doubt the bosses will mind.” Sonny smiled at Schrader who gave a sigh, then turning to Atlas as he picked up the strawberries and milkshake.
“Alright, let’s go.”

R O N A N R E E V E S - B i o g r a p h y
Character Name: Ronan Reeves
Age: 26
Faceclaim: Samuel Larsen
Species: Werewolf
Additional Species Info: Lywayerer Pack
Role: Gamma
Faction/Side: Southside/Lupis
Usual Haunt/Frequented Location: Works at Lolita’s (Hangout) as bartender/Frequently passes the time at Crescent Lake
Motivation(s): Once, a lifetime ago, adventure and excitement ruled Ronan’s heart. He was a wild, rambunctious child, with edges a little too sharp and serrated for comfort. He feared little and laughed often and had a stubborn habit for refusing to look before he leaped. And, ultimately, this was his downfall: too fierce, too eager, too proud. Now, all Ronan wants is peace. A way out of the nightmare he so foolishly begged for. But, life isn’t a fairy tale - he knows that. So he goes to work and he keeps his head down and minds his place in his pack, even if he chafes under the lawlessness of their leadership.
Why are they in Calamity: Growing up, Ronan had a fairly normal childhood. A mom, a dad, even a dog. He was wild and unruly and full of life, but he was loved. It wasn’t until around age 15 that tragedy struck. An accident - a collapsed tunnel in their living quarters that buried both of his parents in an instant. Ronan hadn’t been home at the time, and while some saw that as a blessing, he could only think it a curse.
After that, Ronan was sent to live with his uncle Gerard - a strange, reclusive man who hadn’t really been around that much when Ronan was younger. And for good reason, too - he’d been keeping a secret from his brother (Ronan’s father): he was a werewolf. Not born, but bitten, many years prior.
It took months of living with Gerard for Ronan to catch on (his grief and apathy blinding him) and then years for him to finally confront the man. When he did, he demanded (begged) for the bite. He wanted to be himself again - to feel, in the primal way that animals do. Gerard refused, initially. Told Ronan he would regret it, that it wasn’t going to take away the pain of losing his family, or bring back the person he used to be. Ronan insisted. Weeks turned to months and then to years and the relationship between nephew and uncle soured so severely that, in a fit of desperation to keep Ronan from doing something idiotic, Gerard finally relented and agreed. For quite awhile, the bite was everything Ronan had wanted. The first year was tough, sure, but his Uncle’s pack (the Lywayerers) was there for him, even if they were…. just as weird as he was. He had a family, again. Power. A purpose. It was perfect.
Until the shine wore off. Until he noticed, really looked, how the Lywayerers operated - their ruthlessness. Their crazed ideologies. Their willingness to throw each other under the bus to save their own skin. Slowly, the people who had helped him transition were beginning to look down on him - for being too soft. Too weak for being unable to let go of the past, his “poor little tragedy.” With his uncle usually unwilling or unable to shield him from the pack’s ire, Ronan eventually became the pack’s favorite whipping boy. For a while, his sense of self was all but erased. He lived only to please the pack, and that was like chasing his own reflection - futile and ultimately disappointing.
As soon as he was able, he got a job at Lolita’s and then his own place. His role in the pack as Gamma (another odd punishment, serving only to highlight his supposed failures) was ceremonial, at best.
Bitter and exhausted, he tries to live for himself now, as much as possible. That looks different, day to day, but he’s hoping eventually he can find a scrap of that ambitious, outgoing kid he used to be.
Wanted Connections: Having someone play Gerard, his uncle, would be really cool! They have a strained relationship, which is always fun to play out. Descriptors/Traits: +Resilient, Kind, Generous / -Sensitive, Impulsive, Passive
Headcanons:
1.) Ronan is a plant person. He keeps his 3rd floor walk-up stuffed to the brim with both simple and exotic specimens. His balcony boasts an impressive selection of hanging pots and his entryway is slowly being overtaken by creeping vine. The greenery calms him and botany is a skill he picked up from his mother - one which he’s determined to keep alive.
2.) What Ronan craves more than anything else in the world is acceptance. Belonging. A place to fit in. He’s certainly not found that in his own pack, so in recent years he’s been entertaining the idea of forsaking his bonds and defecting to another pack. He’s told no one about this tenuous plan, but it lingers in the back of his mind every single day.
3.) Outside of his own pack, Ronan is pretty apathetic toward other Supernaturals. He doesn’t hate or despise any one group or species, and generally goes by a “Live and let live” type of code.
4.) Ronan is only bold when he’s drunk. Or extremely angry. His typical answer to hostility is mild sarcasm at best, total silence at worst.

→ History Malia Agyeman grew up just outside of DC in a wealthy suburb. The daughter of a Federal Judge and a college professor, she was instilled with just how important education was. Her father, the second of the DC cat pack, was a busy man. His schedule was always filled, though he tried to make time for his family. Often when Chane was making important pack decisions, Malia was there on his lap absorbing what he did and how he did them. Their pack was facing many challenges from the rising unrest in the supernatural community. Weaker packs were destroyed, and begged for mercy to the larger ones. The witches and human shifters were slowly making it impossible for any animal shifter to let their guard down. Malia witnessed the cruel hammer fall on many supernatural creatures and it shaped her to become who she is. She decided that she was going to stop the supernatural world from tearing itself apart. She attended Georgetown University and studied political science, and began talking to as many different species of supernatural that she could. Her alpha and her father were very much against her actions in college, but they imagined it would end once she graduated and she’d take up a position as liaison in their pack. Malia had other plans. When she was in her final year she began looking for places where change could happen, that weren’t as broken as DC. That was when Chris Bialar’s school for young cats caught her eye. She flew out to Chicago to meet with Greer and Noel during spring break, and fell in love with the city. Her mind was made up, and in the June following her graduation she moved.
Malia settled in quickly with the Chicago pack. She met Esther and clicked almost instantly, and she found so much inspiration in the city. She’d never seen every type of supernatural living together in one place civilly before, and she quickly met and developed friendships with many other supernatural creatures. About 5 years into being in Chicago, a soft spoken man named Miles King moved in. He had a kind way of speaking, but one that Malia initially wrote off as weak. She was used to the powerful vibrato filled men of her childhood and current packs. It wasn’t until Miles swooped in during a hunting trip gone wrong that she saw the side that was in plain sight if you looked at him long enough. He saved her from a Colt with a bear trap, and took Colt’s arm off in the process. They became friends, and then fell in love gradually.
→ The Present
One thing Malia is trying to improve about herself is the way she treats others. She gets so lost in her mission and her what she is working on that tends to ignore how she is acting towards others. This has caused a lot of frustration especially with Miles and Esther. There will be weeks at a time where she either ignores what they say, or only comes to them to ask for help with things. It had put a stress on her and Miles’s relationship, to where they postponed the wedding. That was a wake up call she needed and she moved her relationships to her focus. They’ve improved, and she’s actually started to talk a lot more to her family and friends in DC. Now that the wedding is over, a part of her is itching to get back into her cause.
Her ultimate goal is to have the equality and diversity of Supernaturals that she sees in Chicago spread out across the United States and eventually other countries. She truly believes that the community needs to band together. Humans are finding out more and more and the only way to protect the magic within all of them is to create a community. She’s tried to reach out to most of the species within Chicago to ask them questions about what they think they would need to be thriving in a city. Then she can try and advocate for not just what the cats need but for the supernatural community as a whole.

like. my impression of the original mythos, and most takes on cosmic horror in general, has very much been that it’s much less “cosmic struggle between good and evil” and more “the most powerful cosmic forces are at best uncaring and apathetic towards humans and at worst actively hostile”
while this book heavily emphasizes a younger, mostly benevolent generation of gods overthrowing the older, hostile ones, which is fair enough given that they’re trying to connect the mythos to actual mesopotamian myth which in some cases does have that structure to my knowledge (although im not sure that the equation of the primordial gods with death, unspeakable mind-breaking horrors, evil sorcerers, etc, to the degree this author is going for is actually derived from babylonian myth tbh; my memories of the enuma elish are a bit fuzzy, but this particular setup seems like an artifact of “we had to incorporate that element somehow and the older deities seemed an obvious choice”). i’m aware lovecraft also has a distinction between like. my brains blanking on terminology but the elder things and the actual Incomprehensible Horrors. but it’s not emphasized as much in most of his work, and fuck if i honestly understand half of what’s going on there (one of my frustrations with lovecraft’s work, beyond the much bigger problem of his various horrific bigotries, is that he’s too vague on what he’s describing--which i am aware is supposed to be part of the appeal of the genre, that it’s incomprehensible, but it just feels like there IS a cosmology and Abomination Lore, which is usually left so unclear that i genuinely cannot figure a lot of it out just from reading the stories. and that’s frustrating.)
additionally, the statement of humanity having been created by the younger gods from the blood of the older gods (and thus having ties to both, and draws to the “ancient ones”) is interesting and fun and a cosmological concept i’m honestly quite fond of, but it feels really out of keeping with the cthulhu mythos specifically; i would have to do more research to know if that’s another thing lifted wholesale from babylonian myth or if the author’s drawing on other dualistic or pseudo-dualistic traditions too; it almost reminds me of cathar theology, but that feels like a bit of a reach and again i don’t remember the enuma elish particularly well so it’s entirely possible it’s from there. at any rate, the whole idea of the gods being that involved feels like it’s out of keeping with a lot of the tone of lovecraft’s shit (with the possible exception of the mountains of madness and stuff of that ilk?)
although i do think it’s interesting that the author seems to have seen the conflict between the kind of uncaring, despair-inducing cosmic abyss favored by that genre of horror and the idea of a benevolent pantheon, and tried to resolve that by repeatedly saying that the gods are distant and forgetful, and have to be reminded to protect us--and, additionally, that the older gods will rise again (and presumably re-overthrow their usurpers, though this isn’t stated outright that i recall)
but at the same time, the introduction seems to indicate that the author legitimately does somehow think the cthulhu mythos is dualistic in that sense, and i’m not sure what to make of that
the attempt to rework the cthulhu mythos into something much more dualistic (as far as i can tell without the author thinking of this as a reworking in any way) is really quite odd

I'm not doing too good here and I just feel so pathetic. A few years back I thought I had such a bright future, but now, not so much. I hate my major (I know, I messed up when I picked it) and I'm not good at it, and I don't know what I'll do after school and I sort of hate myself for fucking this great opportunity up. Probably a hopeless cause but if anyone has any advice, I'm listening
Response from Opal:
Hey bud. There is nothing pathetic about you, there is nothing dim about your future, and there is nothing hopeless about your situation. I don’t recall too much from my physics classes, but I did learn about this nifty thing called a frame of reference, and I think it is worth keeping in mind that the coordinate system with which we measure our successes and failures here at Princeton is fixed by a set of reference points that are already astronomically higher than most. What I’m trying to say is that no matter how you think you are doing relative to everyone else here, when you come out on the other side and enter the real world, you will find that you are still more well-equipped to accomplish what you want than the majority of other people. Princeton is not a one-time chances to make the game-winning free throw. It is a master key that you can keep using for the rest of your life to open various doors. That is not to say that everything will be handed to you on a silver platter, or that I approve of how inequitably opportunities are distributed within our society, but something like choosing the wrong major will not cause you to lose that key or restrict your access to any of the doors that you wish to walk through. You have already made it into the uppermost echelons of educational privilege. You may not yet know what you want to do after graduation, but when you do decide upon something, you will definitely have the means to go out there and do it. Your path may well look different from those of your classmates. Nevertheless, you are going to be just fine.
That being said, you do only get one college experience, and while it is regrettable that you do not enjoy your major, I don’t think you should resign yourself to being apathetic at best and hostile at worst toward academia. First of all, no need to beat yourself up for making the wrong choice - we are still so young, and we learn so much about who we are and where our passions lie while we are here, and declaring a major that ends up not being the best fit is both understandable and more common than you think. Second of all, even if absolutely none of the classes that you can take for your major could possibly bring you any joy, you definitely have room in your schedule to explore your true interests. Do yourself a favor and enroll in at least one class next semester that you know you will continuously look forward to. Having even that one class makes a world of difference, in my experience, in how you feel about your life as a student. I also encourage you to actively enrich your free time, in any way that makes sense to you - take up an extracurricular activity that you wholeheartedly love, independently study what you are actually passionate about, start learning skills that you will need for the career path that you hope to follow and that you know you cannot acquire within your current academic structure, etc. Learning does not start and end in the classroom!
I am sorry that my advice is not more concrete. I am neither experienced nor wise, and I do not know the details of your situation. What I am really encouraging you to do is to find ways to enjoy life and being alive without predicating any of it on narrow measures of academic success or having a clear vision of the future. Spend more time with people you care about. Fall in love with the multitude of things that you can already do and the things that you have the potential to do. Envision yourself as someone who makes the space around them warmer and brighter, no matter what they are doing or where they are. I promise you that things will fall into place with time, even if they don’t do so in a fashion that you expect or are accustomed to. The future may be unpredictable - but then again, when is it not? Keep your chin up, buttercup.

She’s fiery and passionate, telling you what she believes whether you agree or not, while he almost blends into the background, supporting her the whole way through.
Platonic Connections:
Esther Yoo (Best Friend): Esther and Malia just click. When Malia first came to Chicago, Esther was the first person to reach out and include her in pack activities. Esther was the maid of honor at her wedding, and they see each other every day.
Chris Bialar (Alpha): She has a great deal of respect for Chris, but finds him pretty old fashioned when it comes to a lot of things. She pushes him to be more of an activist for shifter rights.
Noel Crais (Running buddy): Noel is the only person who can keep up with Malia. They chat about the pack while getting their daily work out.
Clara Fields (Associate): Malia has taken up talking to Clara from her activist work. She was surprised at how progressive many of the older shifter’s policies were, and also at her willingness to consider new ideas.
Jalissa Toll (Associate): It’s almost an open secret that the rats have some way of spying on every pack.
Rebecka Blake (New Friend): Malia thinks Rebecka is wonderful. She’s smart, well read, and is the only person in her life who loves to argue. It has taken a lot of the accidental arguments and debates with Esther and Miles out of the picture and they’re much happier.
Arthur King (Brother-In-Law): Malia punched Arthur when they first met. She thought he was Churchill walking around in Miles’ face again. They laugh about it constantly now but Malia admits she was fearful of him due to his reaction that first day.
Hostile Connections:
Carter Bialar (Pest): Carter actively refuses to vote, and finds a bizarre amount of pleasure in rubbing this into Malia’s face.
Churchill Darling (Hate): She found out from Jalissa that Miles’s face had been stolen by a human shifter. She wanted to go after him, but Miles convinced her not to. Her worst nightmare is waking to find out Miles really isn’t Miles next to her.
Percy McCormick III (Dislikes): Percy blatantly pushes lies and intentionally misinforms the public. She thinks that’s one of the lowest things you can do as a publication and has gotten Amaria to ban the rags that the Nimbles run.
