Between his talking about hell, his focus on a reward after death, and quoting the Serenity Prayer, it’s hard for me to see Dekker as anything other than Christian. Obviously Jews can refer to Christian concepts because of cultural osmosis (I’m Jewish myself and do it all the time) but man does the way he talk ring specifically Christian for me.

and that’s completely understandable! like i said in my post, i absolutely get it and i know why it’s the primary interpretation for him, and why i’m not Arguing when i explain my HC, or trying to say that jewish dekker is directly implied. it’s not! it’s just also not impossible. the HC was proposed to me by a jewish friend who thought about it just as thoroughly as you have, and i think that’s sort of the nice thing about it! 

like, yeah okay, jonny most likely was going for christianity there, but there is still enough to counter that it provides a neat Discussion? of the ways it could still be different even with those references being made, etc. similar to how the main cast is written as Pretty White™ but we've got plenty of room to shake it up beyond that, i think. small ramble quick!

and honestly i don’t think the world they operated in makes much room for actual heaven and hell, either, and any references to those concepts made by anybody in this business are mostly going to be more just... expressions than anything. refer to that one post highlighting the contrast btwn him and father burroughs.

also his farewell to gertrude! that seemed to have like NOTHING to do with faith but rather something respectful that would mean something to her, as someone who he knows doesn’t put stock into it. he was talking to her through the world they DO share, the world governed by the powers, and was speaking to the things that hang over her that he wishes her free from. that was a beautiful thing for him to say, and i think it had like, zilch to do with anything else. not that you brought that up in your ask i’m just thinking about it constantly and have feelings.

seraf brought up a cool point, too: interfaith families exist! there are a lot of ways to reverse engineer, not to completely diminish canon material but strengthen it in interesting ways. maybe his dad was christian, who knows. anything’s possible.

seraf’s main points are “a) there are like. literally zero canon jews in tma b) when was the last time u saw a black jewish character in like, anything” which i gotta say Yeah Agree.

and re: reward after death, most of us also honestly interpret that as being more in reference to Rest than anything? what stuck out to me more was that he could “face his death gladly, knowing he had done his duty before g-d” which can still be read through a jewish lens, like. just being at peace with how he had lived his life.

i also think about what gertrude said she thinks happens after death when gerry asked her in mag 162, how she thinks that after death the fears can’t touch you. i really don’t think it’s outlandish to imagine she and adelard having those discussions! they very well could have, and he very well could be referencing that there. the reward could literally just be peace, y’know? the end he always knew was coming.

to quote seraf bc he’s at work also:

anything more from me is just repeating what i’ve already said but! again i completely get why you’d read him as christian it does come across that way very easily and was probably what jonny had in mind, but i like thinking outside the box on this stuff, esp because no matter what faith he practices, his relationship to it is going to be complicated and unconventional by default given the contrast of the work he does in Eldritch Fear World. 

i enjoy talking about this without anyone really being Wrong because to me, i can see the merit in both. i just personally prefer to think of one over the other, because it makes me happy.

So, hmmm, Fitzsimmons at Hogwarts headcanons, let me see.

Well, first of all, I think that they're both Ravenclaws, with very little question about that? Fitz could maybe be a Gryffindor, maybe, but ultimately I'd say they're both classic Ravenclaw. They'd also both be those Hermione-esque students who are naturally brilliant at magic, and get all the spells right through a combination of homework (high five, Jemma 🤣) and talent.

I also think that Jemma would be made a prefect pretty much as soon as she was old enough - because, come on, she's literally perfect for it. Responsible but still compassionate, and more than smart enough to keep up with her school duties despite having other responsibilities - yup. Fits the bill perfectly!

Fitz, I think, would be more of a wild card prefect-wise, because he's a little shyer and less natural with people, and also if we have Daisy in the story, he's bound to get into some kind of shenanigans with her 🤣😝

Thirdly, and I don't know how relevant this is at all, lol, I'm literally just spamming you with my Hogwarts-y thoughts and ideas here - but I've always thought that, in pretty much any Hogwarts AU, Coulson would make the most PERFECT Dumbledore, and May the best McGonagall. I mean, just. 😍😍😍😍😍

Ohhh, my gosh, and the last thing I LOVE to headcanon is that Fitzsimmons is That Couple who the entire school ships, and wants to get together - best friends, or maybe enemies (! 👀), but either way very much into each other, and very much mutually oblivious about it.

You Were Never Gone from Teen Wolf - this song is, and probably always will be, my number one Fitzsimmons song. Even if the lyrics weren't positively perfectly suited to them (which they are) I also saw an AMAZING Fitzsimmons edit on it once, and that now lives rent-free in my head, along with the stirring and fantastic song itself.

Perfect by Ed Sheeran - this song is probably the most romantic love song I've ever heard, and nothing short of perfect (😝) for any OTP.

Birds by Imagine Dragons - getting angstier here, but this song captures the pain of everything Fitz and Jemma have gone through exquisitely well, and how they still keep hoping they'll find each other again.

Work Song by Hozier - c'mon, you can't have a halfway decent playlist without a Hozier song on it, and this one, especially the part where he sings about how no grave can hold him back from his love, just seems very Fitzsimmons to me.

Please Don't Say You Love Me by Gabrielle Aplin - this is one of those songs that make me think of a very specific time period in FS's history; namely, in season 2, when Fitz had confessed his feelings to Jemma, but she isn't sure how she feels yet, and just doesn't want things to change. Also, Iain de Caestecker is in the music video, and, come on, you don't get much better for FS feels than that! 😝😍

No Light, No Light by Florence + the Machine - another time-specific one, and another SUPER angsty one. To me, there's no song that captures post-Framework Fitzsimmons better, especially the part where she sings about no light in his bright blue eyes. 💔

The Scientist by Coldplay - the last one on my list, and maaaaybe a bit of an obvious choice, lmao, but still one that I think fits them regardless. It's full of heartbreak ("no-one ever said it would be this hard") and also the haunting, sincere wish to "Oh, take me back to the start // I was just guessing at numbers and figures // Pulling the puzzles apart // Questions of science, science and progress // Do not speak as loud as my heart." The meeting: There are different ways s/o meets link but here are a few ⬇️

Nurse S/O:

S/o hums quietly as they organize the potions, medication, and tools by name and color (for potions). They were in charge of the little clinic while the main doctor was out for lunch, nothing really happened in their small village which is why when S/O heard screaming and their door being kicked in, u best believe it gave them a scare. “Doctor! We need a doctor!” One of the villager said as he and the other villager placed the badly beaten man on the table, “he’s on his break” S/O said frowning quickly rushing to the man’s side. They start examining the man for open wounds that might be causing the horrendous blood spill, they discovered a large stab wound on his upper chest but from what they could tell the stab wound wasn’t deep enough to cause serious complications such as a puncture lung but enough to cause serious bleeding. “Please leave him to me, he’ll be fine just a few stitches here and there” S/O said softly waving them out of the door before closing the door and rushing back to the man, this was their first time having to perform a surgical procedure on a patient especially by them self and they were determined to help this man to the best of their ability. Many thoughts ran through their mind as they washed their hands and placed surgical gloves on, grabbing a clean cloth they press down on the wound to stop the bleeding. They start to disinfect the wound and washing the wound out which payed off since a piece of metal was still in the wound, it was half way through stitching that the man sprang up causing S/O to jump but not far enough because the next thing they know they’re pinned to the wall with a fist ready to make contact with their face, they flinch waiting for the blow but thank the goddesses that it never came (well for now). They slowly opened one eye to look at the male who was looking straight at them with a pink tint covering his cheeks, he lets go of the poor individual and looks around from what he can tell he was in a doctor’s office. The male look back at the beautiful individual and sign a “sorry” to them, they nod and huffs “ can you please lay back down, I don’t want u to fal-“ before they could finish their sentence the poor man’s leg started to shake uncontrollably and like that he dropped to his knees (thankful he managed to get a hold of the bed as he fell). S/o rushed over to him and (some how) manage to get the muscular man back on the bed, “please stay still while I finish the stitches, I want to make sure that they’re perfectly a-line so that it closes perfectly” they said as they continue to sew the wound close, hearing a light grunt here and there. Once finish with the stitches they start bandaging and disinfecting the smaller injuries all while the man silently stared at them watching them/ analyzing them, once completely finish they gave the young man a small smile and gave him a sticker “we ran out of candy so that’s the best we have, now I’m going to prescribe you some ointment for the wounds and if the wound starts getting infected feel free to come by anytime but in the meantime you may choose to stay here until your wounds have healed or stay in one of the small rentals” they handing him a white shirt seeing that they had to cut the top of his tunic open to get to the injuries. The man grabbed the shirt and placed it on himself, he looked into their eyes for a whole 5 minutes before signing “ my name is Link, what is your name?” causing the nurse to smile “my name is s/o and you’re always welcomed here link” oh how they would regret ever meeting.

Things he does:

This man literally comes over for the littlest of things, he got a paper cut? Whelp off to S/O’s clinic! Don’t want it to get infected!

He deliberately hurts himself or jumps into a group of monster or bush filled with thorns just to come crawling back with his life barely intact.

Likes to stay/hang around at the clinic and watch the doctor closely especially when it comes to doing surgery, he may not look like he enjoys watching the doctor but in reality he finds the doctor cutting open patients satisfying.

Link day-dreams about cutting open his chest and S/O’s chest and placing his heart inside of them and theirs in his so that they’ll always be “linked” together

He comes around so much that the only way to get rid of him (for at least an hour or a day) is by giving him extremely long and extremely stupid quests. This man will literally do it if it means hanging around S/O for just 5 in a half minutes.

On multiple occasions he’ll “accidentally” cut S/O by “losing” his balance and scratching the them or “accidentally” cutting them when showing them his new dagger.

Whenever he sees blood seeping out of the freshly made wound he created on S/O it takes all of his will power not to lick the blood or store it in a jar.

If S/O donates blood it’ll “magically” disappear while under Link’s care, and no one ever suspects Link because... why the fuck would the Hylian Champion need the blood for?

Merchant S/O:

S/O sighs as they look out the window, they haven’t gotten much customers today as they wish but the quiet was fine too. They look over at the clock and stared at it for what seemed like an hour before the small bell placed on top of the door brought them back to reality, they smile and look over at the customer. The male didn’t seem to notice them or hear them as he walked in looking at the shelves, he pushed a few potions here and there before letting out a victorious little cheer as he holds up the items he was looking for up in the air. A little strange but S/O didn’t mind it as they continued to smile as the male walked over to the counter his smile never leaving his handsome face, he placed the bottle on the counter and looked up. His eyes widen as he eyes took in their beauty, his cheeks started turning a bright red as their eyes locked into each other. They didn’t want to look away but they knew that if they didn’t sell the potion and kept on with this staring game their father would be unhappy with them, they let out a small cough breaking the trance the man was in causing him to scratch the back of his neck nervously and gives them an embarrassed expression. He points at the potion and signs “how much?” They smile at him and leaned over the counter to grab it, they turn it over and checked the price “15 rupees” they said before sliding the potion in front of him. The man nods and pulls out his wallet/bag, from their angle it looked very heavy and worn out since the leather was already pealing off. The man placed fifteen green rupees on the counter and slid them towards them, they took them and nodded at man. Just as the man was turning around to leave, he was stopped by a light “wait!” causing him to turn around and face the individual. They seem to be holding something out to the young man “Father has always said that the best warriors need the best equipment” they said as they hand him a beautiful new wallet, the man hesitated when reaching for it but once he had it in his hands he admired it’s fine stitching and amazing fabric. “I-I made it myself” S/O said blushing a bit “and you don’t have to pay for it since it’s free.” The man smiles and nods before signing “my name is link, what is your name?” Causing the individual to smile “ my name is S/O and you’re welcome to come back anytime Link” they respond. The man gave them one last smile and nod before leaving the little shop.

Things that he does:

He comes over everyday or every other week if he has a quest to complete

Constantly refers your shop to other people which is part of his plan to get you to like him

Constantly helping around even if it’s something minor like dusting the shelves you can’t reach

Becomes good friends with your father and constantly ratting you out whenever Link doesn’t agree with your actions or friends

Sometimes “accidentally” bumps you into a sharp table corners

Will “accidentally” drop broken glass on you or in places you walk bare foot (so he has an excuse to help you and touch you)

Has wondering fingers whenever you hug each other.

Goes around town tell people you are an item and always makes it look like the two of you are together with or without your knowledge

Rub up against you when you’re not paying attention and tell you he was joking whenever you tell him off

hewwo! i can answer this! im literally gonna do a quick list of both deh and bmc characters for u under this readmore! :D

im gonna start with deh because smaller cast!

evan: 

isn’t so much stuttery as he tends to repeat things and uh stammer a bit here and there. stutters over his words sometimes but it’s more l-like this and uh, like… like this

evan hansen has anxiety. he is not anxiety. evan hansen fucks up and makes mistakes and probably internalizes a lot of things. very polite when in public but he can be a bit snappy (as seen w evans comment abt how zoe’s parents have never been poor i believe? it was something he said to zoe)

soft spoken, most of the time. probably not the kind of guy to vocally ask for things until he’s at a comfortable enough point that he feels like he’s not bothering you (same buddy)

i see evan as someone who gets frustrated with himself easily. not as a sense of “god i wish i were normal” but more of a “i should be able to do this, why cant i do this, i want to do this but i cant” because sometimes it’s just a matter of i literally cant do this and i dont know why? and god its so frustrating sometimes

jared:

jared kleinman is a fucking asshole and he knows it. very sarcastic and uses it to cover up his own insecurities, probably the kind of dude who laughs in your face when you tell him off when internally he’s just OH FUCK OH SHIT FUCK FUCK FUCK

a lot of ppl write jared as being insecure abt his weight and tbh i don’t see that being a problem for him? i see jared as being insecure abt the fact he comes off very snarky and assholeish but he turns it around and tries to own it even though… that’s not something you want to be proud of? and he knows that

not the kind of dude who stops to assess his feelings. he powers through shit and insists he’s okay until he’s out of steam. i think it was psy who said he’s a “needs therapy boi” and tbh she’s right? 

can be very passive aggressive imo it’s something he really needs to work on.

arrogant, sarcastic, and just a big fucking dick who needs to learn how to watch his mouth.

zoe:

not an pure baby angel, by any means. we’re at a disadvantage because we only see zoe when she’s sort of grieving (because grief can and will come in different ways, and while i see her as not missing connor, i do think that her pushing away her feelings is a form of her grieving imo? it’s a weird thing to explain but there’s a part of zoe that does miss (the old) connor’s presence as w the fake emails evan “gave her her brother back” (albeit a very fake version of connor) and sort of standoffish when it comes to the subject of connor

a bit of an ambivert. extremely outgoing when she’s around her friends or when it comes to music and other things she loves.

very individualistic! her style tends to have doodles on her clothes, she dyes her hair a lot, she probably would be the kind of person to make her own jewelry!

very sweet. the castng call for zoe describes her as being the kind of person who learns the names of the kids who sit alone at lunch and thats she goes out of her way to be nice to people since. connor. yeah.

thats all ive got for zoe but u can always send questions in and i can say yes or no after i ask my pals too

alana:

smart gal! valedictorian! president! i love her! tends to overshare a bit. anxiety + depression gal.

probably into gardening tbh? i can see alana having succulents in her room and maybe a dog that just chills with her.

dont be afraid to make alana mouthy. alana is someone whos extremely headstrong in her actions imo and does what she believes is right, even if others dont believe that. like… think about the fact that she literally published what was believed to be connor’s suicide note because she thought it’d get them the last bit of help they needed for the orchard. it literally fucked the murphys over - but she never considered that?

very much an extrovert. just really wants to belong, man. very optimistic on the surface but i can see her being a little less so underneath. she looks on the bright side because if she doesnt, she doesnt know who will and idk i dont think alana’s the kind of person who just... lets that risk be there.

connor:

we dont kno much abt connor in canon but uhhh…. i can see connor as being a loner, sort of aggressive by accident (tbh this dude’s probably used to people being a dick to him so he’s just sorta standoffish in response) but like… whenever i write connor i usually write him as getting better? he’s gotten the help he needs and he’s doin better 

artsy depressed dude. poetry, painting, ect - whatever u want tbh. i just see connor, with help, finding himself in art or something creative (theatre and music included! u do u!)

very much a reader. this dude both has a lot of books on his bookshelf and a lot more books he hasnt fucking read because hes terrible at reading new books. (i personally hc he loves all of poe’s work)

to sorta sum connor up: bold, but not outgoing. caring, but not obvious with it (once he gets help btw). easily angered but sometimes he just doesn’t fucking know why and that frustrates him further. troubled.

honestly if u want to see one of my fave connors - check out @ask-sincerely-memes​! i rly love how they portray all three of the boys, but connor is by far my favorite! (mod con and/or mod ev if u read this i love u)

jeremy:

anxiety boy, but not evan hansen level of anxiety. more just… self deprecating, not super confident in himself, probably underestimates himself a lot.

jeremys hard to explain sometimes because a lot of his actions and dialogue comes naturally since i can actually relate to jeremy a lot, personality-wise? a really good fact to throw out there is i don’t think jeremy’s the kind of guy who just goes for stuff sometimes. he has to sorta be hyped up by others imo. michael motivated him to sign up for the play, rich and michael both played parts in getting him squipped (michael in the aspect of “lets check this out and see if its legit” bc i doubt jeremy would have genuinely done that on his own).

which really means jeremy isnt the kind of guy to just… confess things, unless it’s built up enough (i.e. jeremys confrontation w reader in unlonely since it was a conversation he’d been thinking about for a bit). in canon, he didnt really… confess to christine without the help of alcohol (at the halloween party) or without other people building him up (voices in my head). 

im literally rereading jeremy fics rn because im trying to come up with a good way of describing him

extremely horny teenage boy. hormones suck. for anyone who writes nsfw: i dont see jeremy being incredibly kinky and sexual and dominant (god forbid) his first fucking time having sex. especially if its both him and the readers first time. sex can be clumsy. you can laugh during sex. but also sex smells. like… once you’ve smelled it, you fucking know it - its just a weird combo of sweat and bodily fluids.

not an uwu anxious depressed innocent baby boy uwu. remember that michael literally withheld the mtn dew red from jeremy because he wanted an apology. remember that michael wouldnt have been squipped because michael had been completely comfortable with who he is. michael likes his place. he doesn’t want to be cool and popular - he likes who he is. michael in the bathroom was a peak moment of michael finally letting go of emotions he’d been withholding - jeremy calling him a “loser” was the final straw that broke him. thank u this has been a psa.

a goofy boy. probably snorts when he laughs and im not projecting there what are you talking about-

okay, canonically: likes video games, likes retro shit (probably the kind of nerd who LIVES for arcades and record stores and vintage clothing stores even if he doesnt mix that into his personal style), very into music. there’s a lot you can do with this! 

imo he’s very caring? like. okay, yes he did withhold mtn dew red from jeremy - but michael still went through the trouble of finding and obtaining that in order to deactivate the squip. i think michael’s a fairly understanding dude, even if he has moments of anger.

just a very warm person. probably the kind of person who stops and makes sure people are okay when he notices they’re upset.

god - one of my favorite boys to write sometimes because there’s a lot to do with jake’s character

he’s the ultimate cool dude in high school. probably the kind of dude who would join a frat in college. handsome, popular, flirtatious - you fucking name it man.

sorta effortlessly popular and cool. there’s problems underneath - considering his family - but it’s hard to see that he has flaws when everything just comes so easily to him.

he makes mistakes. he gets aggressive and protective and just angry physically - he did try to attack jeremy, albeit drunk, based purely on the idea that jeremy was having sex w chloe - so like... that’s a good thing to acknowledge

i said hes flirtatious and he is - without realizing it. someone probably has called him out on it and he’s like “sorry what?” bc he was caught up in talking to someone and not realizing that the dillinger charm never went off. because it never goes off. rip.

post-squipcident: getting better. sorta numb at first before happy, outgoing rich resurfaces because He’s Fine! Do Not Worry! but y’know like... he definitely has a lot of problems with what he did and who he was while he had the squip

a bit sensitive imo. easily upset on certain topics, easily angered on others. really misses his mom (i hc she died and his dad took up drinking as a coping mechanism and its mainly rich and his older brother relying on each other but thats just me tbh.)

rich is tricky to write when it comes to his home life. while i see rich’s dad as being a loud drunk, others see him as being physically abusive and so forth and - okay, that’s your decision, but please make sure you’re being respectful and you post trigger warnings because some people are in abusive homes and it’s not a fun thing to read. 

great sense of humor imo. flirtatious but in the more obvious “haha hey lets bone ;)” way. alternatively: flirtatious with squip, floundering a bit without it because all he knows is “haha hey wanna fuck” 

would probably fight a dick for his pals. rly just loves his friends even if he doesn’t show it.

chloe is a bit hard to write without saying “shes kind of a bitch” but like... she is and she knows it and she fucking owns it.

so like. she’s nowhere near bein a sweet angel baby uwu

has problems. explore them. she literally was down to fuck brooke’s boyfriend since jeremy was dating brooke yknow. part of it could be alcohol but like... dont ignore that fact. like. she probs needs to talk to both brooke and jeremy.

i think of chloe as someone who can see the potential in others tbh. gets slightly annoyed when people arent achieving what they could - but i like to imagine she gets it after a while since some ppl dont have confidence and such. 

yknow the kind of people that take charge when the situation calls for it? that’s chloe. she’s very much a leader. cunning, ambitious - she’s fucking ready.

brooke

more of an angel i guess? sweet, a bit insecure, and a little more caring. not very dominant in situations - tends to be more of a follower (as shown w her and chloe’s friendship)

very caring actually. she literally followed jeremy out and said “uhhh he was kind of a dick to women but i know u like eminem” upon his death in the show??? like??? she literally went to check on this boy.

imo she sorta needs to learn to be bolder. to not take shit. shes probably the kind of person who says yes to a lot of things even if they’re conflicting bc she doesn’t want to like... bother someone and make things worse

very much a big sister figure, post-squipcident. theres this kdrama i was watching where the main protag lives w a couple other girls and one of the oldest one of the bunch is very much a big sister figure that will call other people out on their bullshit because she knows protag isnt the kind of person to do that? thats jenna. and chloe, but mostly jenna.

probably the kind of person who wants to be helpful imo. she likes feeling useful.
