For a girl who's been briefly involved with all sorts of dangerous people and groups over the last few years of her life, Yukari never fails to get excited over meeting someone she hasn't before. Especially someone from a side she isn't particularly familiar with.

"I've never had the pleasure of seeing one of you in person ever before! But I've heard such wonderful things."

Of course she's nervous talking to the man before her. Not only is he a Hunting Dog, but he does not look particularly friendly. But still curiosity far outweighs her fear.

ㅤOf all the things Itachi had expected/hoped to be surprised by after leaving his homeland behind, certainly ice cream had not made it to the initial list - yet here he was now, more than ready to revise his priorities. Not that ice cream, in and of itself, was anything that extraordinary, even. What with Wutai having been turned to the general tourist resort it was nowadays, exotic snacks made especially [and having a super expensive price tag slapped on them] for tourists could easily be found at every corner of the main streets.

This one was... peculiar, though. Salty, but also sweet.

ㅤ«Sea-salt, was it?» The title was appropriate, given the uncanny mix of flavors. In fact, it was making him curious enough to go and check the ingredients, later. Maybe even spare the time to learn the recipe. Once he returned home, he could try his hand at making some for his little brother. Glancing back at Xion, who'd so kindly introduced him to this tiny masterpiece, he smiled after another lick. «I can see why you were talking so highly of it.»

the first sign of a nearby person is marked by stella's dog, gretchen, wiggling around excitedly. stella tightens her hold on her little elderly pug. "whoa, easy gretch! what's going on, girl?"

the sight of a stranger certainly catches stella's attention, too. she turns to him, her surprised expression soon shifting into something warm--friendly, even. the little streets of scarlet hollow are practically abandoned even on a good day, so it's always a surprise to see someone new.

"oh, hey! i haven't seen you around here. are you visiting from out of town?"

"Thanks a ton, pal, I really appreciate the assist." The creature says with gratitude, standing atop the ruined remains of the Sentinel the two had just defeated together- multitude of green eyes that adorned all parts of his body (except for his head) darting about over the massive robot, though two remain steadily faced at the other.

"No idea what this thing's problem was, it just jumped me out of nowhere! Who could I have possibly ticked off this much...?"

He questions audibly, kicking a bit of the robot that had been encased in ice, clearly unaware of the automaton's intended purpose, and even less why it had identified him as target for it.

❝ Hey Dad! It's me. Aaagain . . . ❞ Charlie bites her lip as her hand clenches reflexively around her phone, the other playing mindlessly with the stray strands of hair that frame her face. She's sat on the window seat in her bedroom at the hotel, eyes casting over the view of the city. Her city. Her people. A flaming wreck, littered with discarded weapons and corpses left to rot beneath the crimson sky. In the distance, she can see Heaven glow, situated as though mocking them from its position on high.

Charlie blinks away angry tears from her eyes. She does not hate Heaven — Charlie tries her hardest not to hate anyone — but her heart breaks for her people, and righteous fury rises within her at the knowledge that all this could be PREVENTED if Heaven and Hell could just talk to each other. If her father — her own father !! — wasn't complicit in the wholesale slaughter of their citizens.

❝ I just wanted to — to talk. About. You know . . . ❞ She heaves a heavy sigh through her nose. This is not the first time she's tried to initiate this particular conversation, and it's never gone the way she'd planned it. There just has to be a way to make him see what a mistake he'd made in allowing the exterminations. But maybe she doesn't hold enough sway over her father's heart to change his mind . . .

❝ If you have some time maybe you could . . . call me back! ❞ Charlie forces her voice to remain chipper. This aggressive cheerfulness is how she's gotten through everything her adult life has thrown at her ; she's always thought people are more likely to say ❛yes❜ to a smiling face. ❝ Maybe we could meet up. It's been awhile. I — ❞ Miss you. I miss mom. I miss how things used to be. ❝ I'll wait for your call. ❞

Hitting the END button, Charlie stares at the phone in her hand. Waiting.

Frederick hasn't been at this manor for nearly as long as the others. Though it feels like it's been an eternity to him, it means that he's still getting to know the other survivors who've found themselves trapped in this place.

And Emma Woods... is one of those people. It's such a bizarre feeling, seeing her now. While he'd never known her in life, he had heard of her - as a girl who went missing in mysterious circumstances several years ago, her life sensationalized and her disappearance treated as an unsolvable mystery by those who knew of her.

Never would he have dreamed he'd ever end up joining her among the ranks of the missing. ...He wonders if they're looking for him, too. They must be - while not for the reasons he wants, Frederick Kreiburg is a well-known name among the higher classes, and yet... that fact brings him no comfort at all.

Regardless. It's cruel of him, but the one thing that strikes him as he looks at her now is what he knows of her past. Knowing she's been a patient at an asylum for so much of her life... to be quite honest, it chills him to the bone. The reason for that discomfort is difficult to identify - or maybe, deep down, it's something that he simply doesn't want to acknowledge.

Today, though... there's only one question on his mind. Though he doesn't know if it's curiosity or paranoia that drives him to ask.

"Tell me. Why did you approach me, of all people, for this?"

and there was a sigh from shinobu, tending to one of her wounds caught on the battlefield — an inevitability, when she only had her speed and wits about her. she had little strength to rescue her when she met her match in a physical fight.

a tug of a bandage, before she eventually creates a sling. 

“you don’t have to worry so much, hashibira-san,” she tries to be lighthearted despite the fact she’d broken an arm, “it’s — not as painful as i’d expected when that demon bent my arm in such a way.”
