CDE Asia Plant installed in Pune’s Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipality area for C&D Waste Management
Tumblr media
10 February 2022
SSN Innovative Infra LLP, a Pune-based construction company recently commissioned a Construction and Demolition (C&D) Waste processing plant to be installed at the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipality area of the city. This commissioning is the direct outcome of Pune’s drive to implement best practices in eco-friendly waste management across the city and state’s booming construction industry amid rising developmental demands.
With construction waste building up, being dumped haphazardly, and affecting the ecosystem adversely, the future of Pune’s urban development and the environment at large is at peril. According to the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board’s 2019-20 Annual Report on the C&D Rules affected in 2016, less than 1% of the annual C&D waste generated by 384 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in Maharashtra is being processed/recycled and the rest is being disposed of as landfill waste.
In his words, “My journey with CDE Asia has been an eye-opener. Not only have I gained perspective and understanding of the waste recycling industry, but also come to appreciate their superior and unmatched processing technology that can efficiently process large quantities of waste to produce M-Sand and construction raw materials and be an active agent towards achieving a circular economy. Finally, when I received positive feedback from their operating plants in Thane and Surat, I knew I had made the right decision.”
CDE Asia’s newly installed ReUrban D2100 in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipality has an output capacity of 200 TPD, takes up minimum space, recycles 95% of the water used, and works at 140KWH power at its peak capacity. Equipped with CDE Asia’s cutting-edge wet processing technology, the plant has the ability to convert debris into usable and marketable construction materials such as bricks and manufactured sand of 4 different grades (+20mm, 20mm +8 mm, 8mm +3 mm, 3mm – 0.075 mm) which can again be fed into the growing construction and infrastructure based industries in the municipality and beyond.
CDE Asia is grateful to its client and responsible authorities for the opportunity to take part in Pune’s journey of building greener tomorrows.

What Does Capital Market Mean In Finance?
Planning on jumping into a capital market course but confused about where to start? Let’s eliminate some doubts about what the terms mean. A capital market is a platform where savings and investments find their way into the hands of individuals and entities who need it, such as businesses and governments.
From the perspective of a finance expert, capital markets are composed of primary and secondary markets, the most trades being done through stocks and bonds.
Most Capital Market courses are replete with concepts like inflation, The January effect, deflationary prices, market caps and so on. But what do they all mean?
Tumblr media
Primary markets serve as the trading grounds where securities are issued and sold while secondary markets trade existing stocks and bonds. The suppliers for such capital tend to be large conglomerates such as life insurance groups, charitable trusts, and pension plan groups.
To further understand what makes securities so important in this financial environment, one has to understand the importance of equities and ownership. Securities in a primary market are often called initial public offerings(IPO) which reflects a company’s position once it goes public. On making this transition, the company sells its net market value to investors in the form of stocks and bonds.
Secondary markets, on the contrary, are well established and regulated by a federal or governmental organization such as the SEC(Securities and Exchange Commission) in the US or the SEBI(Securities and Exchange Board of India).
Issuing companies have no part in the secondary market. They play an important role in maintaining market liquidity and providing bullish strength for investors to purchase securities.
Capital Markets Today: How They Work?
With capital market courses becoming abundant amongst interested individuals, investments have become common on electronic media. The public can view and obtain certain information about the markets, with the exception of certain confidential agreements.
Financial centers like the stock exchanges in Mumbai, London, and New York are great examples of capital markets that clock in countless investments on the trading floors each day.
Who trades in the capital market? Pretty much anyone who needs and possesses capital. This can be an individual investor looking for returns on a portfolio or even a government or municipality seeking funds for a project.
One of the most important purposes of the capital market is the movement of corporate bonds. These act as an instrument of debt used by a company to pay for its expenses. As bonds and stocks are purchased, investors are promised a par value(which includes the repayment along with interest).
The rates offered by the exchange can differ from company to company and can be hedged to reduce risk on future price movements. Students of capital market courses may be aware of the Black, Scholes and Merton models developed by economists to track such erratic investments.
The Realm Of Capital Markets
Capital Markets aren’t just restricted to stocks and bonds. Corporate groups can too leverage instruments for non-financial entities. For finance experts, this means that the invested capital includes the funds collected to form a weighted average cost of capital.
This can include public bonds, equities, and private debt.  Most capital for the terms must exceed a year to be operational and ready for trades in the market.
Capital markets can extend to banks that provide financial services like venture capital trading and brokerages for public exchanges. Real estate derivative instruments like REITs are a good example of this. For finance starters, imagining a capital market portfolio is no different than a typical stock option setup.
Companies and individuals have access to a portfolio where they are allowed a minimum number of trades such that no major debts are incurred. They can then take a short(sell) or a long(buy) position in order to keep a healthy portfolio. A notable difference to remember is that certain capital market gains might be taxed differently depending on whether they are short term or long term.

Thane Metro Gets Maharashtra Cabinet’s Approval
Tumblr media
The Maharashtra cabinet, on March 5, 2019, cleared a 29-kilometre metro line for Thane, which will be implemented by the Maha Metro, on behalf of the Thane Municipal Corporation. A statement from the chief minister’s office said the project will take four years to be completed and will be built at a cost of Rs 13,095 crores. Of the 29 kms, 2.2 kms will be underground and the rest will be elevated, it added.
Guardian minister of Thane Eknath Shinde, said the cabinet has approved the proposal and it will help decongest the densely populated areas of the city. It will have 22 stations and is projected to have a daily ridership of 5.76 lakhs, once commissioned and its fares will range from Rs 17 to Rs 104, an official said. The metro will start from the New Thane metro station in the old city area and will connect to the Wadala-Kasarvadavli Metro at two places, namely the New Thane station and Dongripada. It will also have a link to the Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan Metro Line 5 at Majiwada Junction.
“The roofs of the metro stations have ample space and can fit about 10 lakh solar panels, which will provide about 65 per cent of the network’s energy requirements,” the statement said. “The intra-city metro line is expected to not only help citizens travel to different ends of the city but also aid those travelling to the neighbouring cities through its inter-modal system,” the statement said.
Mumbai-Thane metro line to finally become a reality
Providing a boost to connectivity between Mumbai and its peripheral regions, Maharashtra’s chief minister has approved a 32-km metro line between Mumbai and Thane, which is expected to be completed by 2021
June 6, 2016: Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, on June 3, 2016, approved a 32-km metro line connecting Mumbai with adjoining Thane.
The 32-km Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane-Kasarwadavali metro line is estimated to cost Rs 14,549 crore. The government expects to complete the project (Mumbai Metro Line 4), which will have 32 stations, by 2021.
After the commencement of services, the distance between Wadala (Mumbai) and Kasarwadavli (Thane) will be covered within 64 minutes.
The CM accorded approval to the project, during a meeting of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), an official statement said.

Maharashtra, Gujarat brace for Cyclone Nisarga amid COVID-19 lockdown; 'severe cyclonic storm' to make landfall near Alibaug
The cyclone, denominated Nisarga as per the cyclone naming system in South Asia, is set to make landfall in north Maharashtra and adjoining south Gujarat coast between Harihareshwar and Daman, close to Alibaug around noon on 3 June. It intensified into a cyclonic storm from a deep depression on Tuesday evening, said the India Meteorological Department, adding that it is likely to further strengthen into a severe cyclonic storm in the next 12 hours.
Upon landfall, Cyclone Nisarga is expected to have a speed of 105-110 kmph and is likely to cause heavy rains in south Gujarat and coastal Maharashtra, the IMD has said.
Rains in Mumbai, south Gujarat as cyclone nears land
Cyclone Nisarga has led to constant drizzling in parts of Mumbai. Areas like Parel, Mulund, Goregaon Vasai Road, Navi Mumbai reported drizzle since early evening. Districts including Palghar, Greater Mumbai, Raigad and Mumbai have been put on alert.
Meanwhile, areas like Valsad, Bhavnagar, and Amreli are also likely to receive showers overnight, IMD said.
Satellite image of Cyclone Nisarga as on 2 June 4.30 pm. IMD
The cyclone has been named 'Nisarga'. The name has been proposed by Bangladesh, IMD Director General Mrutunjay Mohapatra said.
According to IMD, at present, the depression is lying  300 kilometre south-southwest of Alibag, and 350 kilometres south of Mumbai. It is very likely to move north-northeastward and cross north Maharashtra and adjoining south Gujarat coast.
It will make landfall as a 'severe cyclonic storm' with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting to 120 kilometres per hour.
It is likely to turn into a 'severe cyclonic storm' by Tuesday night, the Cyclone Warning Division of the IMD said, adding that the storm will cross north Maharashtra and adjoining south Gujarat coast between Harihareshwar and Daman, close to Alibaug (Raigad District, Maharashtra).
However, just before landfall, it is likely that the cyclone will start weakening and cross as Category 1 cyclone by tomorrow afternoon/evening between Mumbai and Shrivardhan in Raigad district, private weather forecasters said, although IMD is yet to confirm this.
According to the Central Water Commission (CWC), the cyclone could induce flash floods in Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Palghar, Thane, Mumbai and Nashik, and tidal waves in the coastal regions of north Maharashtra and south Gujarat, CNBC TV18 reported.
NDRF deploys 33 teams in Gujarat and Maharashtra
Following the forecast, thirty-three NDRF teams have been deployed in the coastal districts of Maharashtra, the chief of the federal contingency force said. Both states have been dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, with Maharashtra reporting highest cases in India, while Gujarat has the fourth highest tally of active cases.
In a video message, NDRF Director General (DG) SN Pradhan said, "Gujarat and Maharashtra have 11 and 10 teams respectively and they are being deployed in the coastal districts facing the Arabian Sea".
On Gujarat's request, five more teams are being airlifted to the state from Punjab, he said. Gujarat will have a total of 17 NDRF teams, including two on standby, and neighbouring Maharashtra 16 teams, including six on standby, he said.
"This will constitute a total of 33 teams in the two states," the officer said.
An NDRF team has a strength of about 45 personnel and each unit is equipped with tree and pole cutters, communication gadgets, inflatable boats and a small basic medical unit.
Pradhan said the teams on ground have begun the process of evacuation and have launched an awareness drive among the locals.
"Although this is not an extremely severe cyclone, all precautions are being taken with the basic principle in mind that while we expect the best, we must prepare for the worst," he said.
Gujarat to evacuate 20,000 people
Meanwhile in Gujarat, the Valsad and Navsari district administrations have started evacuating nearly 20,000 people from 47 villages located close to the state coastline, officials said on Tuesday.
Besides, in a relief to people living near the shore, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday indicated the cyclone may not make a landfall on the Gujarat coast. However, it will have an impact in the form of gusty winds coupled with heavy rainfall in the coastal belt, state MeT centre director Jayanta Sarkar said.
As a precautionary measure, the district administrations of Valsad and Navsari have started shifting people living near the coast to safer places.
Maharashtra prepares for Cyclone Nisarga
Flight operations in Mumbai were partially hit due to the cyclonic storm approaching the west coast. Vistara put out an advisory saying, flights to/from Mumbai and Goa are likely to be impacted.
"Please visit http://airvistara.com or SMS UK<Flight no.> to 9289228888 to check updated flight status before booking and leaving for the airport," it tweeted.

Ten teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed for rescue operations.
Meanwhile, Mumbai fishermen have been asked to return from the sea in view of impending adverse weather conditions. Coast Guards have been deployed to help fishermen reach back to the nearest harbour.
Furthermore, News18 reported that schools, marriage halls and other open spaces have also been identified to be used as shelter homes for affected people in Maharashtra.
Elaborating on the government's preparedness for the approaching cyclonic storm, the Maharashtra CMO tweeted that an alert has been issued for Mumbai city and suburbs, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts.
It also said non-COVID hospitals are being made available. The state government is also taking measures to prevent power outages and is also taking precautions in chemical industries and the nuclear power plant in Palghar and Raigad districts.
"Teams are prepared to tackle the likely damage that will be caused by tree falls, landslides and heavy rainfall," the CMO said.
The control room at the mantralaya (state secretariat) is operational round the clock and instructions have been given to the Army, Air Force, Navy and the IMD to ensure coordination, Thackeray's office said.
