Choosing the Right Maid Service in Thane

1. Reputation and Reviews
Start by researching the reputation of various maid service providers in Thane. Look for online reviews and testimonials from previous clients. A company with positive feedback is likely to provide reliable and satisfactory services.

Ensure that the maid service you choose offers the specific services you need. Whether it’s cleaning, cooking, or childcare, make sure their offerings align with your requirements.

5. Flexibility and Customization
Look for a service that offers flexible scheduling and customizable packages. This ensures you can get the level of assistance you need without being locked into a rigid contract.
6. Cost
Compare pricing between different maid services, but don’t make your decision based solely on cost. Consider the value you’re getting for the price, as the cheapest option may not always be the best.
7. Initial Consultation

5 Essential Tips for Maintaining Your Modular Kitchen
Tumblr media
Modular kitchens are popular for their functionality, aesthetics, and space-saving qualities. However, to keep your kitchen looking pristine and functioning efficiently, regular maintenance is crucial. Whether you’ve invested in a luxury modular kitchen or you’re exploring modular kitchen models, here are five essential tips to help you maintain your kitchen.
1. Regular Cleaning of Surfaces and Cabinets
One of the most important aspects of maintaining your modular kitchen is regular cleaning. Dust and grime can accumulate on surfaces, especially in hard-to-reach corners. Use a soft cloth and mild detergent to clean cabinets, shelves, and countertops. Pay special attention to glossy or matte-finished cabinets, as they can show smudges and fingerprints easily. For the best modular kitchen in Thane, investing in cleaning solutions specifically made for modular kitchen surfaces can go a long way in preserving their shine.
2. Check and Tighten Hinges and Fittings
The efficiency of a modular kitchen relies on the smooth functioning of drawers, cabinets, and other hardware. Over time, the frequent opening and closing of drawers can loosen hinges and fittings. Ensure you regularly check for loose screws, handles, and door hinges. If you spot any issues, tighten them immediately to avoid long-term damage. Luxury modular kitchens come with high-end fittings, and ensuring their proper upkeep will maintain their premium appeal.
3. Maintain Proper Ventilation
Kitchens often deal with heat, steam, and odors from cooking. In a modular kitchen setup, inadequate ventilation can cause moisture buildup, which can lead to damage. Use exhaust fans or chimneys to keep your kitchen well-ventilated. This will prevent steam from affecting the cabinet materials and also protect your kitchen appliances from moisture-related issues. When you’re browsing a modular kitchen shop, inquire about installing proper ventilation systems.
4. Use Heat-Resistant Mats and Liners
Cooking can involve hot pots, pans, and utensils, which may damage your countertops. Protect your surfaces by using heat-resistant mats under hot cookware. Additionally, use liners in drawers and cabinets to avoid scratches and stains caused by kitchen tools. This is especially important for luxury modular kitchens, where maintaining the visual appeal of high-end materials is key to long-term satisfaction.
5. Keep an Organized Storage System
The key to a long-lasting modular kitchen is efficient use of storage. Organize utensils, spices, and kitchen gadgets properly to avoid clutter. Invest in drawer organizers and shelving solutions that suit your specific kitchen needs. Modular kitchen models are designed to offer ample storage, so make use of them effectively. For those with the best modular kitchen in Thane, ensuring that every item has its designated spot will make your kitchen more functional and easy to maintain.
Conclusion
Maintaining a modular kitchen is all about regular care, organization, and the right tools. Whether you’re shopping for new modular kitchen models or maintaining your existing setup, these tips will help keep your kitchen in top condition for years to come. Remember, regular upkeep not only enhances the beauty of your kitchen but also extends its lifespan.

For Malvani chicken, add a touch more yogurt to the marinade to match the dish's creamy texture.

Tips and Strategies for Purchasing a 2 BHK Flat in Thane on a Single Income
The pursuit of buying one's dream home is often considered the pinnacle of achievement in the lives of millennials. Finding a place to call home is a deeply personal and meaningful endeavor. For many individuals, the purchase of a 2 BHK flat in Thane is the ultimate accomplishment, symbolizing a sense of security and the end of rental worries. However, acquiring a home on a single income can present unique challenges. In today's society, the desire to own a home before the age of 30 is a prevalent goal among millennials. This aspiration is further complicated when considering the financial constraints of relying solely on one income. While co-ownership and shared expenses are common in some cultures, the trend is shifting as more millennials embrace the idea of single-family homeownership. Although purchasing a 2 BHK flat in Thane on a single income may seem daunting, it is indeed feasible with careful financial planning, particularly for first-time homebuyers. Here are some valuable pointers to help you get started on your journey:
1.Establish a Realistic Budget for Your Down Payment
In India, the government allows for up to 80% financing, meaning that you will need to provide a 20% down payment for your property. Saving diligently and starting early is crucial if you want to achieve your dream of homeownership. However, accumulating such a significant amount can be challenging and may require exploring alternative options for securing a down payment. By closely tracking your income and expenses, you can gain a clearer understanding of your monthly budget. This knowledge will enable you to identify unnecessary expenditures that can be eliminated or reduced, thus freeing up funds for your down payment. For instance, if you find yourself spending excessively on food delivery, consider cooking at home and exercising at home instead of paying for a gym membership. Adopting financial discipline is the most effective way to save for a down payment on your 2 BHK flat in Thane.
2. Select the Ideal EMI Plan for Your Circumstances
When applying for a home loan on a single income, choosing the right Equated Monthly Installment (EMI) plan becomes paramount. Evaluate your monthly income and determine the maximum amount you can comfortably allocate towards your home loan repayment. As a rule of thumb, your EMI should not exceed 40% of your net income, allowing you to maintain a healthy financial balance. If you have additional sources of income outside of your primary salary, consider increasing your EMI to shorten the loan term. Keep a close eye on any changes in home loan policies, interest rates, and government relief programs, as they can impact your repayment obligations. Bear in mind that your monthly EMIs are likely to be higher than your current rent, so using an online EMI calculator can provide valuable insights into the amount you need to set aside each month to fulfill your loan obligations. By gaining a thorough understanding of your financial situation, you can identify 2 BHK flats in Thane that suit your income bracket.
3. Improve Your Credit Score
A solid credit score (typically over 750) not only qualifies you for a home loan but also empowers you to negotiate more favorable interest rates. Given the long-term nature of home loans, the amount you pay in interest can far exceed the principal amount borrowed. For example, a 30-year loan of Rs 60 lakh at an interest rate of 8.7% per year would result in a total interest payment of Rs 1.09 crore. However, if you have a poor credit score and are charged a higher interest rate, the total interest paid can be significantly higher. For instance, at a 10.5% interest rate, the total interest paid over 30 years would amount to Rs 1.97 crore. Before applying for a home loan, it is essential to ensure that you have a high credit score. Avoid making any significant purchases (above Rs. 65,000) prior to applying for the loan, as this can negatively impact your creditworthiness. Additionally, closing credit cards just before applying for a loan can decrease the average age of your credit accounts. It is wise to lower your credit utilization ratio by reducing your credit card limits. By striving to maintain an excellent credit score, you increase your chances of securing a better interest rate on your 2 BHK flat in Thane. Take proactive steps to improve your credit score, such as paying your bills on time, avoiding excessive credit applications within a short period, utilizing no more than 30% of your credit card limit, and addressing any inaccuracies on your credit report.
4. Consider a Guarantor to Strengthen Your Financing
While not always necessary, having a guarantor can improve your chances of getting your home loan approved. However, it is important to understand that being a guarantor for someone is a significant responsibility and should not be taken lightly. Your request for a guarantor can have significant consequences for their financial stability, so it is crucial to approach this option with care. A guarantor's support can expedite the loan approval process for your 2 BHK flat in Thane. Although having a guarantor is not a mandatory requirement for obtaining a home loan, having a third-party guarantee can streamline the application process. It is important to be aware of the risks involved when seeking a guarantor for your home loan. When a guarantor signs on your behalf, they become legally responsible for loan repayment, and their own eligibility for future loans may be severely impacted. Typically, a guarantor is a close family member.
5. Invest in Insurance Protection
Having financial protection in the event of unemployment, injury, or death is crucial for you and your family. Acquiring insurance coverage that can cover your loan obligations provides peace of mind and safeguards your investment on a single income. Short-term and long-term premium policies are available to protect your single-income investment from unforeseen circumstances that may lead to non-payment. Purchasing an insurance plan for your 2 BHK flat in Thane is highly recommended, as it provides you and your family with financial security in case of job loss, accidents, or untimely death. You can choose between short and long-term premium plans that offer comprehensive protection against unexpected events. In conclusion, homeownership is not always a straightforward journey, but delaying it indefinitely may not be the best option either. While your income is likely to increase in the future, so will your financial obligations. It is crucial to educate yourself about effective financial management and make necessary sacrifices along the way. The journey to owning your dream 2 BHK flat in Thane may require perseverance, but the rewards will be worth it in the end.

Forex Services in Thane- 10 Essential Tips for Buying Foreign Currency Before Travelling Abroad
Travelling abroad is an exciting adventure that many of us eagerly anticipate, whether it's a backpacking journey through Europe or a relaxing beach vacation in Southeast Asia. However, one crucial aspect that should not be overlooked is buying foreign currency for your trip. It is essential to ensure that you handle this task correctly, as it can greatly impact your overall travel experience. The last thing you want is to incur excessive conversion fees or fall victim to unlicensed money exchanges, potentially leading to legal complications. To help you make the most out of your currency exchange, here are ten valuable tips to consider:
1. Exchange Currency before Flying Abroad
The Indian rupee is not widely accepted as a global currency for exchange purposes outside of India. To avoid inconvenience and unfavorable exchange rates, it is advisable to convert your currency to the desired foreign currency within India before your departure.
2. Purchase from Licensed Money Exchanges
When buying foreign currency, it is crucial to engage only with authorized money exchange companies possessing an RBI Authorized Dealer-II or Fully Fledged Money Changer license. While unlicensed agents or stores may offer seemingly cheaper rates, there is a significant risk of receiving counterfeit foreign currency notes from them. Possessing counterfeit currency abroad without a valid bill of exchange can lead to severe legal consequences.
3. Conduct Thorough Online Research and Choose the Best Deal
Numerous websites allow you to compare foreign currency exchange rates offered by RBI-licensed money exchanges in your vicinity. Take advantage of these platforms to evaluate exchange rates and the overall cost of purchasing forex. Through careful research, you can identify the best deal that suits your needs.
4. Request Various Denominations
When acquiring foreign currency for your trip, it is wise to request a variety of denominations. This strategy enables you to make purchases more conveniently and reduces the risk of overpaying for small items due to a lack of change.
5. Familiarize Yourself with KYC Document Requirements
As per RBI regulations, every resident Indian must possess specific KYC documents to purchase foreign currency within India. These documents include an Indian passport, valid visa (if applicable), confirmed air ticket (indicating travel within 60 days), PAN card, and a government-issued photo ID proof such as Aadhaar, voter's ID, or driver's license. To ensure a hassle-free transaction, remember to bring along these documents when exchanging currency.
6. Consider Ordering Foreign Currency for Home Delivery
If you are pressed for time or find it more convenient, you can opt for home delivery of foreign currency, similar to ordering groceries or other items online. Several websites, such as ExTravelMoney.com, EbixCash, and Thomas Cook, offer same-day delivery services. Choosing doorstep delivery can save you time and simplify your travel preparations.
7. Avoid Currency Exchange at the Airport
It is advisable to refrain from exchanging currency at the airport, as this can prove to be a costly mistake. If you have ever purchased a cup of coffee at an airport, you are likely aware of the inflated prices charged there. This is primarily due to the high rental fees imposed on shops operating within airport premises. Consequently, these shops pass on the additional costs to customers by charging higher prices for their products. The same holds true for currency exchange outlets at airports, making them an unwise choice.
8. Do Not Rely on Currency Exchange at Your Hotel Abroad
While some hotels abroad may accept Indian rupees, it is best to avoid exchanging currency at such establishments. Although it may seem convenient, hotels typically impose higher exchange rates and fees compared to banks or dedicated currency exchange offices. Moreover, they may have limited amounts of currency available, restricting your options.
9. Adhere to the 30/70 Rule
A prudent approach is to carry 30% of the required foreign currency in cash, distributed across various denominations, and keep the remaining 70% in a forex travel card. A forex travel card is a prepaid card that can hold multiple foreign currencies. It serves multiple purposes, allowing you to withdraw cash from ATMs, pay for accommodation, dining, and shopping, and conduct online transactions such as flight and hotel bookings. Carrying a reasonable amount of cash is useful in situations where card payments are not accepted, while the forex travel card offers enhanced security features like chip and PIN, ensuring the safety of your funds. Furthermore, forex cards are usually more cost-effective than purchasing foreign currency notes due to their favorable exchange rates.
10. Keep an International Debit/Credit Card as Backup
Lastly, it is crucial to have an international debit or credit card as a backup option. This ensures that you have access to funds in case your primary card is lost, stolen, or declined. Moreover, many international cards provide additional perks such as access to airport lounges, where you can enjoy amenities like free Wi-Fi, snacks, drinks, and showers. Before embarking on your trip, remember to activate international spending on your card. This can typically be done through your bank's mobile app or by contacting customer care. Notify them of your travel plans and request the enabling of international transactions.
Navigating the process of exchanging foreign currency in India can appear daunting to those with limited experience. However, armed with the right resources and knowledge, you can successfully navigate this process with ease and confidence. By following these ten essential tips, you can ensure a smooth and rewarding currency exchange experience, setting the stage for an unforgettable journey abroad.

Pternadon for the dinosaur asks, for a peaceful scene please 🥺
Ok, I really had to scour my WIPs for something peaceful (eep) and this is what I found for you. It's a Lein and Argis snippet. Only the very best will do for you.
It doesn't sound like it's a peaceful one at the start, but trust me, it ends kinda playfully peaceful? It was the best I had, and it's very affectionate and fluffy.
(mlm (human) pairing from Footsteps in the Snow)
__
Lein woke with a start and rolled over. The sheets were cold. Argis was long gone. He frowned, and then, with a rush of fear, he heard the sound of clashing steel from outside. Flinging the covers back, clad only in his linen undergarments, he raced out of bed and grabbed the daedric bow and arrows from the stand, flying towards the enchanting tower. He scrambled up the ladder and popped the hatch open, sneaking up onto the roof.
He was met with a blast of icy wind which etched colour deep into the apples of his pale cheeks, but he bit it down, creeping along the roof tiles towards the source of the noise. Below, where he expected to see Argis battling bandits, he saw Valdimar swing his sword through the air and tip Argis over onto his back. Winded, Argis let out a laugh and slapped the ground. “That’s the first time all week you’ve managed to hit me!” he roared.
Lein felt his muscles relax and he shivered as the arctic wind lashed over his practically naked body. Valdimar reached his hand down and made to yank Argis upright, but the latter put his foot into Valdimar’s torso and flipped him over his head and sprang to his feet. Lein had to laugh. He was glad they got on so well. He wasn’t jealous. Much.
Slinking back down the hatchway, because he would just die if they found out how he’d panicked, he returned his beloved bow to its rack and slipped into some clothes. The kitchen downstairs was empty, no sign of Iona anywhere, and their clanging fight still resounded from outside, so he set to cooking some breakfast for them, hoping to be done before they finished. A little while later, he emerged with two plates of crispy bacon, two fried eggs, some tomatoes, and some fresh bread also fried in the bacon fat.
The two men looked up as the doors to the hall opened, and Valdimar got in one last blow on Argis’ blind side as he turned his head all the way to look at Lein properly. “Oi!” Lein yelled in mock seriousness. “No taking advantage of him. That’s my job.”
Argis snorted and, without turning to face Valdimar, blocked the next incoming blow and flipped him onto his back. “You heard him. No one takes advantage of me,” he laughed.
Lein set the plates down on the pile of logs at the edge of area of clear ground they used for training.
“What’s this for, thane?” Valdimar asked warily as he picked up his plate and eyed it like it might be poached frostspider eggs.
Lein’s bark of laughter echoed off the trees, and made his horse’s ears prick up in the stable. “I thought you could use a cooked breakfast after training, that’s all. What kind of thane would I be if I didn’t look after those in my employ.”
Argis picked up his own plate and came over to Lein, standing near but not so close as to make Valdimar uncomfortable. “Thank you,” he said softly.
Lein narrowed his mismatched eyes at Argis and said, “You,” and raised his finger. “You have a little more work to do for getting up and leaving without waking me.”
Argis’ eyes softened. “I didn’t want to disturb you.”
Valdimar took his leave silently, though not without nodding once at them with a grin before retreating into the house to  find Iona. When he was gone, Argis opened one arm to Lein and invited him to step closer. Lein leaned his body against Argis’ warmth and reached up to plant a kiss on his jawline. “I missed you.”
“No,” he grinned, “You missed having a human furnace next to you.”
“That too.” Lein smirked and stole a rasher of crispy bacon off Argis’ plate before whirling out of Argis’ grasp.
The huge warrior belted a laugh and said, “I’ll make you pay for that later, Lein.”

Thanks for asking, friend!

Oh Captain, M̴͇͕̻̱͛y̴̢̘͈̱̌̆̋͘͜ ̶̧̞̩̤͗͗̈́C̴͓̰̜͎̐̈͗̑͘ą̷̮̇͗͠͝p̵͕̣̐́t̷͔̜̰̗̀́ȧ̵͇͖̌͌̐i̴͍̒͂n̴̪̼̭̔̃̈͑̓ ?????????
In which ̴t̷h̷e̸ ̵c̶a̸p̷t̵a̵i̷n̶ has a conversation with his y̷̻̔͆e̸̻̞͝o̵̹͛m̷̢̟̈́̈a̵̯͐ǹ̶̨.̸̤̞̋͝-
It was midnight. Not that Valerian could truly tell.
The ship hummed with almost organic rhythm around him. If he sat still for long enough, he could convince himself it was a heartbeat.
Which was why he couldn't sleep.
The commons area had only a single light on at this late and terrible hour- a single bulb, bright and white and unmoved from its fixture.
The The The The The illumination showed only that of the booth, a terribly tacky and dreary leather bench that was stuffed to the brim of cushioning.
Atop the table was evidence of busy lives: Rosalie's greased tools were strewn about and Ophelia's dueling swords sat leaned against a chair leg. Valerian could spot Sergio's brandy glass, tipped over but empty. Peter's mug, Thane's medical journal, and Javier's half-drunk carton of milk were not too far off, either.
It was foreign to Valerian in a lot of ways. So many different lives combined at the commons, each so unique and yet so capable of harmony. Some days Valerian truly wonders how they ever manage to get along, but he catches himself when seeing a scene like this. It was different, but dare he say exciting?
"You're supposed to be asleep, Captain."
He jumped.
The voice came from no singular source- in fact, the voice didn't belong to anyone at all. The artificial intelligence that controls most of the facilities on ship made itself known through the speakers, it's soft, melodic voice a far cry from its robotic, choppy counterparts.
Valerian released a long, deep breath, closing his eyes and placing his hand against his chest. It never feels good to get the daylights scared out of you,
"Sara," Valerian begins, uttering the A.I's name more for himself than as greeting, "you're um- awake."
Silly thing to say. A.I don't s̴͈͂̃́̾́̆l̶͙̖̮͉̹̥̯͐̌͋̅ȅ̶̗͚̃͑̒́̈́̚͘͠͝e̷̝̣̱͆p̷̨̧̺͚̬͍͚͇̣͓̱͒ ̴̡̝̺̎͂̇͐̀͌̿̈s̷̢̤̜̟̣̝̺̯͔͎̦̉̀l̸̹̹͔͙̅̓̇̔͒̎̐̉͂̕͠ḛ̵̼̭̈͊̂̽͘̚͝e̶͓̖͇͓̲̜̱̭̠̎p̸͇͓̺̰̬̥̜̓̾̑ ̶͖͍̝̻͖͚͌̈́͘̕s̷̫̒͋̄͌̕͝ͅļ̵̰̮͙͍͙̣̋̃̒̽̄̕ę̸̬͓̦̰̫̖̦̞̈́̏̀̍̂̋̆̈́͆͘͠ę̵̫̟̰̥͖̼͒͒̈̾̿̇͋͜p̴̧̮̲̦̘̳͐̍ ̴̡̺̃͑̐̽ͅs̷̫͔̞̜͗͗͗͒̀ͅl̴͍̜͠ę̶̯̪̬̀̚ḛ̶̡̛͇̬̜̥̼̹̟͔͚̔p̸̩̩̺͙̫͚͊͋͂̐̂͒̆͘ ̸̧̛̦̟͚̻͒̀̓̇͜s̴̆́͒̎͒̈́̈́͜͠l̶̬̣̖̄̒̎̓̏̂̿͑̉͝ͅe̷͈̗͎̻̘̤͕̋͌̓̂̐̀͝͝e̷̖͎̹̬̐͛̒͗͠p̷̡̢̼̲̤̠̱͔͔̱̈̐̿̀̑ ̴̡̺̩͔̝̖̠̟̫͂̔͊̕ͅŝ̸͍͕̈́͝l̴̩̱̻͍̫̠̣͚̾̽͂̎͐ͅẻ̵͇̙̺̮͈͈ͅȩ̶̰̗̻̼̘̩̱̥͕̾͛̾̈́̉p̶͙͐

"I am not programmed to a day and night cycle. It is not necessary. But, Captain, protocol suggests that I advise you in your duties as commander of this ship. Sleeping has been known to rejuvenate the mind. It is necessary for your safety, Captain,"
What is also necessary for his safety is not being piloted around by some alien A.I that, if given full control of the ship, would probably fling him and his crew into the sun.
But Valerian ignores that for now.
"Mind turnin' some of the commons' lights on, Sara?"
"Of course, Captain."
The room illuminates in a blink of an eye- the space filling with a white- but still rather dim- light. Valerian blinks his eyes, scratching them to adjust to the sudden lack of darkness that was there moments before.
Stumbling his way toward the kitchen, Valerian opened on of the cabinets, his face instantly twisting into a grimace at the sight of cream of wheat. The next refueling station was a couple days away, which means Valerian was stuck with some of sloppiest, tasteless food known to all creation.
Valerian ignores that, and pulls the box out anyway.
"You do not like your rations, Captain?"
Valerian jumps again, this time clenching the box of hot cereal reflexively,
"It's not my favorite," he admits after a moment, though Valerian feels as if he was truly speaking to no one, "but it'll do, I guess,"
"Javier has saved Hulpora eggs from the previous stop at the refueling station," Sara announces evenly, as if the information was hers to share, "they are in the ice box if you wish for a more pleasing breakfast,"
"And risk his leather-wearing wrath? I'm good, thanks."
Sara said nothing to this, and Valerian thought nothing more of it. The cream of wheat he cooked clung and stuck the pot, the sad concoction more of a paste than anything of edible substance.
He dropped the 'food' into a bowl, and felt his stomach turn as he shoved his spoon into it. The utensil full of slop barely touched Valerian's lips before Sara, out of nowhere, spoke,
"I do not understand, Captain."
Sara's interruption was disruptive enough to cause Valerian to jolt from his place once more, dropping the spoon into the cream of wheat with a slow, slick thud.
Valerian was less concerned about the war crime of a meal that sat before him, and more about what Sara was confused about. It's an A.I, after all, thinking was sort of...their thing.
"Understand, Sara?"
"Hulpora eggs are some of the most nutritious poultry products a human male of your height, muscle density, and species can have. It would be of great benefit to you to have cooked a Hulpora egg, instead."
Valerian nods slowly, the point missing him entirely,
"And?"
"You leave it for Javier. This puts your ability of survival at a risk, does it not?"
Valerian huffs a laugh, "No more than teasing Ophelia for plucking her feathers at the dinner table, Sara."
Silence.
"...That was a joke,"
"Acknowledged," Sara says, "but my point still stands,"
"It's Javier's, Sara. Even if it was better for me in the long run those are his eggs, and besides, he deserves them,"
"I see," Sara says, and Valerian double takes- swearing he heard something akin to being thoughtful in her voice.
Valerian was digging his spoon out of the cream of wheat when she spoke up again,
"That is very kind of you, Captain."
"I try to be," He says absentmindedly, his fingers still digging for the spoon, "wouldn't be in this mess if more people tried to be that way,"
"They are not?"
"They look out for themselves," Valerian explains, "think about their own survival without thinking of another's. Selfish."
Valerian got the spoon out, settling it onto the table, and stared at the mess in silence. He felt tired.
"I am glad I am not capable of having those emotions, Captain," Sara says after a while. Valerian no longer jumped to the sound of her company, "this seems confusing."
"Nah, Sara," Valerian says with a yawn, "ain't nothing to bein' decent, I promise."

Equal Justice Under Law
Pairing: Jay Halstead x Reader (Prosecutor)
Requested? Yes -  Are you still accepting requests? If you are can you do one where the reader is a prosecutor and working a case alongside intelligence. She gets in trouble and jay is the one to save her?
Warnings: Mentions of sexual abuse and murder. Swearing, the usual cuss words.
A/N: Okay so this is HELLA long. I really meant for all my requests to be blurbs (i.e. short fics) so please note that future requests will probably be much shorter than this! I just got carried away on this one! 😅
Also I realise the anon asked for the reader to be working alongside Intelligence, but in mine she’s kinda taking over after the police case is done, which is what happens in the episodes of Chicago Justice most of the time so that’s what I had it my head - hope y’all still like it! I also tried to switch it up this time and write in past tense, which I realise is sooo not my thing because I kept instinctively writing stuff in present tense and then having to go back and change it lol Let me know if you have a preference one way or another because I’m very curious as to how people feel about this!
Up next? 3 more  Jay x Reader requests to fill!
PS: Send me asks/messages/leave a note if you liked this and want to see more!
Tumblr media
You sighed, dropping your face in your hands. Some days, you wished you hadn’t taken up the job as the Cook County Assistant State's Attorney. The late nights and high stress situations sucked, but more than that your job had a way of bringing to light the worst things about humanity.
Looking down at your desk, you ran your fingers across the scattered pictures. Amelia Langstrom, age 16. Pamela Park, age 18. Lacey McDonald, age 19. Julia Sanderson, age 15. Maggie Thane, age 16. Every photo of the girls, smiling at the camera, came with another one. This other photo wasn’t as well-lit, as happy, as pretty. It was an emotionless, clinical photo taken of their naked bodies, covered with injuries and bruises and cuts, surrounded by leaves or trash depending on where they were dumped.
It was an awful, awful thing. 5 young girls, all missing for over a week before their bodies were found. All with signs of sexual assault, yet no DNA left behind to trace back to the killer. All of this, by itself, would be enough to turn your stomach over. Which it did, but above that, watching your boyfriend come home every night with his head down, shoulders sagging, looking completely distressed as he and his team were no closer to finding the perpetrator of these crimesit was terrible.
“You guys will get him. I know you will, Jay.” You said, brushing his dark brown hair out of his eyes as the two of you laid in bed together. Your boyfriend’s green eyes, usually bright and full of life, were dark and distant in a way you hadn’t seen in a long time.
“How many more girls does he have to kill before we find him?” Jay whispered, not even looking at you, as his frown - one that seemed to have made itself at home in his forehead over the last two weeks - deepened.
It was a week later when Anna Valdez, your second chair, knocked on your door. Her face was dark, and her lips were tight.
“Another girl?” You asked, your voice cracking.
Anna shook her head. “Intelligence got the guy.” She replied, still looking troubled.
You frowned, tilting your head at her. She paused, crossing her arms across her chest, trying to shrink herself. Like as if she didn’t want to say the next words. You stood up, now beginning to fear what was coming.
“What is it?”
Anna swallowed. “They’re saying he confessed.”
***
“Jay - ”
“You don’t believe me?! Seriously?!” Jay’s eyes were wide with outrage on the other side of your desk.
“It’s not about whether I believe you! It’s about - ” You lowered your voice, remembering that there were many, many people who were working right outside your office. “ - it’s about the fact that Voight is saying this guy confessed. Hank Voight. He’s not exactly a shrinking violet. And all this on top of the fact that - ”
Jay opened his mouth to cut in, but you silenced him with a raised hand and bulldozed onward.
“ - On top of the fact that there just so happened to be no one else in the room with Voight when Dylan Rhodes confessed? Hmm? And it happened in a - in a cage that’s in basement of your district? No cameras, no audio, no video?” You glared at Jay, barely hiding the seething rage that was boiling under your skin. You leaned across the desk, shoulders tight, voice now raised without a care about what anyone outside was going to hear. “Not to mention he’s got cuts and bruises all over his face from ‘resisting arrest’ even though he’s a 20 year old who’s maybe 120 pounds soaking wet and there were seven of you cops, all armed with guns when you went to arrest him!” You yelled, flinging several of Dylan Rhodes’ mugshots across the table, some of them flying all the way over to hit Jay’s body and land at his feet.
There was nothing in the air but the soft whirring of the ceiling fan, and the squeaking of wheels as you dropped back into your chair, exhausted.
Jay called your name, his voice different now - softer and sweeter. You tried not to look at him, tried to let him know just how angry you were…but you weren’t angry at him. Not really. You were angry at the man he worked for. When your eyes connected back with Jay’s, you could see that he knew that. He placed his palms on your desk and leaned towards you.
“You know that I have issues with Hank sometimes, with the way he does things. You know that. But Y/N, you gotta believe me on this one. I looked in that kid’s eyes. I know he did this.” Jay whispered, and you ducked your head, letting your vision graze over the one remaining photo of Dylan Rhodes on your desk.
You just sighed. Looking back up at him, you shook your head.
“It’s not about him, Jay. I know he did it too, I can feel it. But if I’m putting him away, it needs to happen the right way.” You offered, your voice almost didactic.
Jay’s jaw clenched. “Needs to happen the right way, or not at all?” He straightened, pulling away from you. The look he was giving you was one that you could only describe as fervent disapproval. Like he hated what he was seeing in you.
You decided you were done with the argument. Leveling Jay with a cold, emotionless stare, you spoke.
“Yeah. Because there’s some of us who still believe in the law. Who choose to serve and protect in the right way.”
The words spilled out of your mouth so matter-of-factly that they became so harsh. Jay was speechless, and in the beat of silence that followed, you regretted your words.
Your door opened and you jumped, too absorbed in your tête-à-tête with Jay to even give notice to the outside world. Anna looked over you and Jay - who was staring at his feet, jaw tight - with concern in her eyes.
“What is it?” You asked Anna for the second time in a day, just as terrified as the first time.
“Defense counsel just filed a motion to suppress the confession.”
***
“Mr Howard, if you’re ready we can begin - ”
“Sorry to interrupt, your honour, but it won’t be necessary.” You announced, standing up in the courtroom. Everyone’s eyes were on you, even the court stenographer’s.
The judge raised his eyebrows.
“The People will not object to Mr Howard’s motion to suppress the defendant’s confession.” You said, and a flurry of excitement broke out in the gallery - reporters shouting questions, members of the public yelling, camera flashes going off.
“So,” Anna began, facing you as you stopped to grab a cup of water from a dispenser in the hallway. It’d taken about five whole minutes of gavel banging by the judge to settle everyone down, before she dismissed the session. “Your boyfriend and some of his coworkers are at the end of the hallway, and they keep shooting us looks but no one’s coming.”
You tipped the paper cup into your water, swallowing the ice cold water, flinching a little at the tingly sensation it left in your mouth.
“Do you want to go the other way, or do you want to go talk to them? To him?” Anna asked, softly. If anyone else had been saying it, you would’ve snapped at them to mind their own business. But it’s Anna - Anna, who from day one has been by your side, who’s practically made it her mission to be the person you count on.
You shot Anna a gentle smile, squeezing her shoulder. “I’m good. I’ll take the south exit. Meet you back at the office after lunch?” Anna nodded, trying but failing to hide the concern in her eyes.
Side-stepping her, you walked down the hallway, away from where Jay and the rest of Intelligence must be gathered. A part of you hoped, strangely, that he’d come after you, even though you knew that there was no way he wouldn’t be pissed at you. You’d been with him long enough to know how he operated. How he felt everything so intensely, how he was wired through the heart. Jay lived and died by his instincts and his emotions, and there was something to be said about the simplicity of it. The man was a soldier, and maybe in war you didn’t have the time to think about procedure and precedent, about the sharp edges of red tape and the rules and regulations in a bureaucracy. The cosmetic battles didn’t matter to him – he didn’t care what something seemed like, he cared what it was.
But you weren’t Jay. You loved him, but you were not him. You weren’t a soldier - you were a lawyer, and your battle was in the courtroom, not Afghanistan. And in the courtroom, almost just as much as what something was mattered, what it looked like mattered too.
Dylan Rhodes had to be brought to justice, yes. But it had to be done the right way, not by way of coerced or falsified confessions. Equal justice under law was what you swore to uphold, and damn Voight if he thought you couldn’t put Dylan away while doing your job the right way. And damn Jay too, then.

“So, how’s the case coming along?” Will Halstead asked, pouring maple syrup over his waffles.
You leaned against the red leather seats in the diner, in an example of truly terrible posture. Shrugging, you answered him: “You know I can’t really talk about that.”
Will scoffed, picking up a fork and knife. “I think you’re allowed to tell me how you’re doing.”
You raised at eyebrow at the doctor, a smile starting to creep onto your face. “But those aren’t the exact words you used, and you actually asked me something completely different - ”
Will threw his hands in the air:‌ “Okay, we get it, you’re a lawyer and I shouldn’t argue with you.” He rolled his eyes exaggeratedly, and you laughed, leaning forward to swat at his arm.
“Really, though.” Will said eventually, and you just nodded. “I’m feeling good. I think I’ve got motive, and I think I can get him to snap if I put him on the stand.”
Will smiled wide. “Attagirl.”
As you sipped your coffee, you kept going over your question in your head, trying to find the best way to phrase it. But just like his brother, Will could practically read your mind.
“Jay’s…you know how he is.” Will said, in a gentle tone.
“Stubborn, adamant, refuses to think he’s wrong about anything, ever?” You shot back in a grouchy tone, and Will raised his eyebrows. “Wow, you just said the same thing three ways - you must be pretty pissed!” He commented dryly, and you glared at him. Chuckling, Will waved you off before leaning across the diner table. “Y/N, he knows he shouldn’t have pushed you the way he did. He knows that. And he’s sorry.”
“He can’t come say that to me? Send me a message, come by my office, come home? He’s still gotta crash on your couch?” You shook your head, struggling to contain the hurt in your voice.
Will shot you a sympathetic look. “You know us Halstead boys; it takes a little while before the mea culpa can come out of our mouths.”
You stirred the spoon in your coffee, watching the little bits of foam go round and round and round, before dragging your spoon across in the opposite direction. The foam still swirled around a few times before stopping. Too slow.
“My bed’s been empty for a week, Will. I miss him.”
Will didn’t say anything; the good doctor just slid over a piece of tissue, and that was when you realised you’d started crying.

“You’ve got this.” Anna whispered, as the defense attorney took his seat. The judge turned to you and called for you to make your closing argument.
This was usually your favourite part - getting to talk directly to the jury, showing them the facts of your case, walking them through every step of the process with all the detail in the world so that they could get to the conclusion that you knew to be true.
But today was different. You shoved your hands in your pockets to hide that they were shaking. And when you looked over your shoulder at the gallery, you couldn’t see Jay.
He’d never missed any of your closing arguments. Ever.
Until today.
“Ms Y/L/N? Can we begin?” The judge tossed a concerned look your way.
Your eyes landed on Dylan Rhodes, who was smirking at you like he’d won.
Smiling back, you calmly turned to the judge. “Let’s begin.”
Starting from Dylan’s teenage years, where he racked up countless misconduct records in high school for all sorts of problems, you traced the development of this man, this awful human being. You painted a portrait of him as needy, sad, and lonely, and connected that to his need to hurt and attack girls who were otherwise unattainable for him. As you spoke, you could see the jury process your words and go where you were taking them.
Dylan had, by this point, dropped the cocky smirk. Instead, his face was red, his jaw was clenched, and veins were popping in his neck. You knew you had him - you knew it was over.
“Members of the jury - I have just one final request to ask of you. Today, you have the opportunity to see that justice is served to a man who more than deserves it. A man - a boy, who decided that raping and killing girls was the only way he could live with himself, because that was the only way he could have these girls.” You paused, turning to look at Dylan, who was shaking with rage.
“A boy who decided to hurt girls to cover up the fact that he is so weak, and so pathetic.” You punctuated the tense air in the courtroom with words so sharp they felt like the final nail in Dylan Rhodes’ coffin.
There was a moment of bliss, you knew you’d done your job, you knew you’d brought the jury over, you knew you’d succeeded - but just as quickly as things came together, it all came crashing down.
It happened so quickly - Dylan roared, lunging over the table towards you. Everyone started screaming, and you froze in shock and in fear.
The bailiff intercepted Dylan on his way over to you and tackled him to the ground. It all seemed settled for a second, but they kept struggling on the ground, and all you saw was Dylan’s hands reaching around the bailiff’s and - and his fingers wrapping around - oh god -
“Gun!” Anna yelled, and the release of that one syllable was followed immediately by a gunshot. And then another.
***
“You gonna talk to Y/N? She’s closing the Rhodes case today, you know?” Hailey Upton asked, lifting her feet up to place them on the dashboard of the GMC Sierra.
Jay shrugged, fiddling with the radio in his hand.
“This is the part where you use your words.” Hailey remarked in a slightly sarcastic tone, smiling and Jay just shot her a look. Reaching over, he shoved her feet off the dash petulantly, and Hailey laughed.
Moments later, she turned back, cheek pressing against the headrest of her seat. “Jay.” She said, her tone gentle but still a little pushy. It was what he needed then, and she knew it. The last few days had been tough on him - he hadn’t talked to her about it, other than updating her that he was staying over at Will’s, but his entire demeanour was off - he’d been down and depressed.
Jay shrugged again, frowning. “I don’t know what to say. I screwed up, and I know it and she knows it and - I don’t know. I’m starting to think…” Jay ducked his head, eyes scanning his fingers as they traced the outlines of his radio. “…starting to think maybe she can do better than me, you know?” When he finished, his voice was much lower, much softer than it was when he began.
“Oh, she can definitely do better than you.” Hailey grinned, her dimples showing and Jay just reached across, punching her shoulder. “I’m kidding, I’m kidding,” Hailey chuckles, before turning to face her partner again.
“Seriously though, I’ve seen the way she looks at you - that girl is one hundred percent in love with you.”
Jay’s heart felt full hearing that, and he knew it to be true, too.
“So get your shit together, stop sleeping on your brother’s couch, go back to her and apologise for being an idiot.” Hailey advised. Before Jay could say anything, his radio went off.
“10-1, 10-1, shots fired at the Third Municipal District, hall 5! Dispatch, get Intelligence on the scene now!”
“Isn’t that where - ” Hailey started to ask, frowning. She didn’t have to finish her question, because she got her answer when Jay, who suddenly went as pale as a ghost, turned on the lights and sirens and floored it.
***
“Dylan…just - think about this, okay?”
Your hands were out in front of you, shaking.
Dylan Rhodes was about 10 feet from you, with a gun in his hand. The gallery had cleared out and the people on the jury had managed to escape to their deliberation room, separated from the courtroom with a thick wooden door. The only people who were left with you and Dylan were the judge, Anna and Mr Howard.
Your eyes flickered down to where the bailiff laid in a pool of his own blood. Dylan had fired two shots straight through the bailiff’s chest. You didn’t need to be trained in medicine like your boyfriend’s brother to know that the bailiff was dead.
You’d said hi to him once, in an elevator. He’d smiled back, and asked you how your day was.
You can’t remember what you told him.
“You’re scared now, aren’t you?” Dylan asked, and you snapped back to him. He had a deranged smile on his face.
“Dylan, please, it doesn’t have to be like this - ” You started speaking, but the judge - Judge Kinnaman - cut you off.
“Son, I swear if you don’t drop that gun now, you will never see the light of day. I will personally ensure that.” Judge Kinnaman’s voice resounded in the empty courtroom with authority. Dylan turned to him, gun following his line of sight.
“Fuck you.” Dylan punctuated his words with a squeeze of the trigger. Anna screamed, and you heard a loud thump. When you turned over your shoulder, you couldn’t see Judge Kinnaman at his seat behind the counter anymore - all you saw was blood splatter on his chair and the wood behind him.
The numbness you’d felt until this point suddenly gave way to waves upon waves of fear. It felt like a chill going down your spine - your body was cold, your mind was racing, and you were absolutely terrified.
“Dylan - Dylan, listen to me.” Jon Howard, the defense attorney, spoke softly from the defense table. “Just - just put the gun down, okay?”
Dylan’s eyes practically went red with rage. “You - you fucking…you’re useless, you’re pathetic, you know that?” Dylan swings back around, yelling at you and Anna. “He asked me to make a deal! A deal! What kind of a shitty lawyer gives up before he even tries to win, huh?!” He yelled at Jon, spit flying out of his mouth. Jon flinched, leaning back as Dylan moved closer to him.
Suddenly, a voice on loudspeaker boomed from outside the closed doors of the courtroom.
“Dylan Rhodes! This is Jay Halstead of the Chicago Police Department. We have the courtroom surrounded!”
Your knees almost buckled as you heard Jay’s voice. Relief flooded your veins, but you were still scared as you watched Dylan suddenly turn around, eyes wide.
“We do not want you or anyone in there to get hurt, okay? Just let the people in there come out, and I swear I will help you.” Jay finished, and Dylan just grabbed his head in his hands.
“No, no, no, no!” Dylan whispered to himself, tears springing out of his eyes. You turned to Anna, both of you equally terrified. Suddenly, Dylan raised his head, almost like a lion that had suddenly spotted a gazelle over the lines of grass.
Dylan surged towards you. Screaming, you flattened yourself against the witness stand, but it was to no avail - Dylan’s left hand grabbed your throat, and he pulled you to him, turning you so that you were in front of him, his left forearm like a bar going across your neck. You felt the cool metal of the gun against your temple, and you gasped.
“I have a hostage! I’m coming out, and I want everyone to stand back!” Dylan barked, before walking you to the door. You were shaking against him, tears streaming down your face at this point. The pressure of the gun against your head seemed to be drilling into you. As you reached the door, and Dylan instructed you to open it, all you could think about was that at least you’d get to see Jay before you died today.
The door opened with a loud creak, and you were stunned to see so many fully uniformed police officers with assault rifles standing right outside. Per Dylan’s instructions, they were all standing back, but still it was absolutely terrifying seeing all those guns pointed at you.
Your eyes immediately found Jay, who had his head tilted, looking down the sight on his rifle but the moment Dylan had brought you out, he picked his head up. His mouth was open slightly, his eyes were wide and wet, and he looked to be completely distraught.
Seeing him finally after days apart…it made every argument you’d ever had feel so inconsequential. You were so full of love for him and the only thing you wanted to do was run, run to him and wrap your arms around him. Unable to do any of that, you just mouthed “I love you” as you tried to hold back sobs.
“I want a car, and - and I want a - a jet fueled at O’Hare!” Dylan shouted.
Jay just shook his head. “You need to let her go first, alright?”
Dylan tightened his hold on you. “I’m not a fucking idiot!”
“We know that, okay?” Hailey spoke up, from a few feet to the right of Jay. “We don’t think you’re an idiot. We just want to make sure you don’t do anything you don’t want to do.” She said, putting her rifle down. Raising her hands, she took a couple of steps towards Dylan, who at this point had completely turned to face her.
“No - no, I don’t want you to move! Just - just stay where you are!” Dylan snapped, his voice raging. Your heart was beating so loudly that you could almost hear it in your ears. Closing your eyes, you just prayed silently.
“I know you don’t want to hurt her. So let’s just make sure - ” Hailey spoke gently, but Dylan cut her off, laughing sharply.
“You stupid bitch! You’re all stupid bitches! Damn right I want to hurt her! This bitch - ” Dylan shouted, pulling in his forearm, the immense pressure against your neck strangling you, “ - called me pathetic! I’m gonna show her how fucking pathetic she is when I get her somewhere alone and I - ”
A loud bang goes off, and you jumped. Your eyes flew open just in time to feel Dylan sag against you, and you instinctively leaned out of the way so that he fell to the ground.
Arms wrapped around you, and your first reaction was to flinch, to scream, to turn with eyes wide, trying to claw away from whoever it is. But then you heard his voice.
“Baby! Baby - it’s me, it’s Jay!” Your boyfriend’s eyes were wide and teary. His eyebrows were furrowed deeply, and he looked like he was in pain.
Everything clicked in your head.
“Jay,” You moaned, shaking fingers clutching his vest as you engulfed yourself in him. Jay’s arms wrapped around you tightly and you soaked in his scent, his warmth, his safety. Sobbing into his neck, you refused to let go, still not really believing this to be real. Jay didn’t say anything for a while and you weren’t sure why. But then you heard him crying into your hair, and you pulled back to see him. His eyes were wet, pooling with tears, and you immediately brought your hands up to hold his face. Jay leaned down as you got on your tip toes and you kissed, wet and soft and scared. Jay’s hands cradled your face, and when the two of you eventually split to breathe, you just looked up at him, speechless, shaking your head.
“I’m so sorry,” Jay whimpered.
“It’s okay. We’re okay. Just - just come home, please,” You begged, running your thumb over his jaw.
“Of course. Of course. I’m never leaving you like that again, okay? No matter what. Y/N, I love you so much. When he came out with you - I - I almost died right where I stood.” Jay told you as his face contorted into something painful. You pressed your lips to his again, quick and chaste. Pulling back, you smiled up at him.
“I love you too, Jay.”
The rest of the day was a mess - the cops moved Dylan’s body, as well as the bailiff’s and Judge Kinnaman’s, while paramedics cleared you medically. You flung yourself at Anna when they brought her out, swearing to her that you were okay and asking repeatedly if she was fine. The two of you held on to each other, crying, as Jay kept rubbing your back. In fact, he never left your side, not even for a second. After you were done giving your statement, Jay took you home, and the two of you got undressed and sat in a warm bath together for a while. You kept thinking at times that you were fine, but then you’d remember the feeling of the gun against your head, or the way the bailiff slumped over, and you started crying again. Jay brought his arms around you, pulling you to his chest and peppering your face with kisses as he soothed you.
At night, you curled into each other. The two of you drifted asleep, in the safety and warmth of your embrace.

TES OC Answers For Alta Adalrica
Under a cut because there’s so much god damn text.
1. It’s a little unreasonable for everyone in a Middle Ages-esque fantasy to be perfectly literate, and writing with quills was considered legitimate labor! How well can your oc read and/or write? How detailed is their quest log/journal, if they keep one at all?
Alta is very literate; she mostly taught herself how to read as a child by going through her parents books and trying to learn all the stories they had in them.  She does not keep a quest journal, but does compose several songs and poems based on things that happened in her adventures, first as assignments from the Bards’ College to show that she’s not slacking off in her studies while she goes traveling, but later when she realizes that she’s quickly amassing her own legend and wants to keep as accurate a report of her life as she can for future generations to learn from.
2. How educated is your oc? Did their parents teach them, did they have a tutor or were they apprenticed to a master, or did they attend a university? What university? What are they educated in? How long did their education take? (Learned skills like blacksmithing count here too!)
Alta had tutors as a child, and as an adult studied in various different vocations before settling on bard/historian.  She’s shadowed priests, taken classes, and had apprenticeships, making her very knowledgeable about a wide variety of academia.  After settling on bard/historian, Alta then traveled the Empire to learn more about the various peoples of Tamriel, taking in their stories and learning their songs.
Alta came to Skyrim with the express intent of joining the Bards’ College in Solitude to continue her education, and starts off her story having attended the college for a few weeks already.
3. Does your oc have any kind of crafting skills that either aren’t in-game or don’t have as much importance in-game as they would in real life? (For example, can your oc sew or weave, etc? Are they skilled in any kind of art? Can they make jewelry or work glass? Are they musicians? etc)
Since Alta is a bard, she knows how to compose music and poetry, and play a few instruments.  She can play the flute (badly), the drums (passably), the lute (very well), as well as the Nibenese mandolin (exceptionally well).  Alta prefers playing the mandolin to the lute, but the lute is more widely found in Skyrim and her mandolin kind of got broken into a billion pieces early on in her adventure, so.
She also knows how to: sew, cook, book bind, skin and debone a carcass, make and sustain a fire without flint/magic, purify water for drinking, pitch a tent, and take care of her various weapons/instruments, such as restringing her bow or lute (and making a new string from scratch if necessary) and doing light mending to her mace’s handle.
4. What pantheon does your oc worship? If they worship the Cyrodiilic/Imperial pantheon, does that include Talos? If they secretly worship Talos, how do they justify hiding it?
Alta worships the Cyrodiilic pantheon (Stendarr in particular) with one alteration: she worships Shezarr in favor of Talos.  She first found mention of Shezarr as a child and was so stricken by the idea that the world had a whole ‘nother god that people just forgot about, that she started offering him her prayers as well.
When she grew older and learned more about Tiber Septim, she started leaving Talos out of her prayers because she didn’t want to venerate someone who’d done such terrible things, and by the time she’s an adult and running around Skyrim as the Last Dragonborn she’s left him out entirely.  If asked, Alta would say that being dragonborn herself, Talos is too familiar to her to be worshiped, and it would be like asking a child to worship their older sibling.
But in truth it’s because she just thinks he’s a dick.
5. How religious is your oc? Do they come into conflict with others over their beliefs? If their patron deity told them to do something extremely undesirable or against their moral compass, would they do it? Would your oc sell someone’s soul for a corn chip?
Alta’s Stendarr worship is very important to her.  She keeps an amulet of Stendarr on her at all times and always makes a trip to the nearest temple of the divines or wayshrine to Stendaar in whatever city she goes to to thank him for safe passage.  Though many of the virtues Stendarr embodies are things she would be drawn to anyways—mercy, compassion, charity, protecting your fellow man, and providing aid when you can to as much as you can—she feels better when enacting these virtues because of Him.
However, considering Stendarr is also the enemy to Daedra, that means that for a good chunk of her adventure, Alta has a fair amount of difficulty interacting with Orcs, Dark Elves, and to a lesser degree Khajiit because their racial pantheons include the worship of Daedra.  She tries not to judge them or think less of them, since Stendarr makes no distinction between worshipers and heretics, but it does make her uncomfortable for a long while.  She gets better about it later, which is quite the boon by the time she goes to Solstheim.
During the Dawnguard questline, Alta had great difficulty reconciling Serana her friend with Serana the vampire Abomination she was obligated to destroy.  Eventually she decided that as a mortal she doesn’t need to be held to a Divine standard, and would prefer to make a mistake in the eyes of her god than to let someone’s please for help go unanswered just because they’re not alive.
6. Does your oc have a family of origin? How many members of their FoO are still living? Do they have a good relationship? How much contact does your oc have with their FoO? How in-the-loop is your oc’s FoO about your oc’s being Dragonborn/HoK/Nerevarine?
Alta has a mother and father that live in some city in Cyrodiil that I’ll decide later when I eventually get around to playing Oblivion.  She has a fairly good relationship with them—her birth father passed away when she was younger and her step-father was the one who encouraged her to see the world while she was young, while her mother encouraged her studies and skill-training, hoping that her daughter would become someone important one day.  I don’t know yet if she has any sibling but I’m leaning towards no.
Alta sends letters to her parents every few months or so, and has ever since she left home years and years ago.  Since she does a lot of traveling, she directs all her mail to a certain city or village that she spends a lot of time in in any particular region—Solitude, for example.  She doesn’t tell her parents about being the Dragonborn until after Alduin has been slain, but does tell them about occasional things she’s done, like take the plunge off of Bard’s Leap Summit and become thane of various holds.
7. What social class was your oc born into? Did they change classes at all? How?
Alta was born middle class, and remained fairly wealthy until she set out on her own.  Then she got robbed a whole lot.  For a good chunk of her initial adventures in Skyrim, Alta was strapped for cash and mostly made a living by eating what she could hunt/forage and getting coin by playing in inns or trawling through caves.  As she went on adventuring, she went up in ranks to an upper-middle class adventurer-poet, a mid-high class thane and folk hero, a high class politician and war hero, and eventually finishes her story years later as the Dragonborn Empress of the Fourth Empire.
8. How politically active is your oc? Are they obviously influential, or is their influence more subtle?
At first, Alta is not very politically inclined.  She becomes Thane of Morthal a few weeks after clearing out the vampire problem on her way to the Hall of the Vigilant when she makes the return journey back to Solitude, and didn’t put much thought into the position aside from spending one week in Morthal per month for a while since if it’s a political position it must be important.
Since she’s so rarely in any one particular hold for long, Alta doesn’t do much political maneuvering, and doesn’t hold much sway over the courts of each particular jarl.  However, as she travels more and becomes more well-known, she gains a good amount of sway with the jarls themselves, since she’s not only a folk hero, but someone who travels between the holds all the time, and has insight into what’s going on in each of the major cities.
For the longest time, her political aspirations were just “end the Civil War in Skyrim.”  As time went on, they shifted to “stop a second war with the Thalmor”, to “defeat the Thalmor”, to “unify Tamriel into the Fourth Empire”, to “rule justly and fairly as the Empress of the Fourth Empire.”  I would say that at that point she’s very politically active.
9. What unplayable faction would/did your oc join, if any? Why?
Aside from being very active among the Bards’ College (which I’m counting as unplayable because you can’t actually do anything if you join), Alta is technically considered an Initiate among the Vigilants of Stendarr due to the fact that she keeps getting involved in Daedric Fuckery and bringing them artifacts to watch over.  She doesn’t actually have any clout within the organization and it’s mostly just so the Initiates are more apt to take her to the Keeper when she swings by with a new artifact, but still.
10. How trustworthy is your oc? Would they ever change opposing factions?
Alta can fairly reasonably be expected to keep her word.  She’s not going to die over keeping a promise, but she’s not going to lie to you unless the matter is very important.  She also prefers not to pick sides at all in a conflict until she’s reasonable sure that she’s made a good choice, i.e., joining the Imperials because a Stormcloak victory would weaken the Empire and that’s just what the Thalmor wanted.  Once she’s made up her mind, it’s going to take a lot to change it.
11. What is your oc’s main source of income, if they have one besides plundering tombs and adventuring? If they’re mercenaries, are they part of a company? Does your oc own their own business, and if so, what is it?
Alta makes a lot of her money by playing for tips and requests at inns, as well as penning new songs and poems for Viarmo to publish once word gets out that the Dragonborn walks amongst us and their adventures can be your to hear for a small fee.  She’s also published a few books based on strange findings or stranger happenings in Skyrim
The position of Arch-Mage of the College of Winterhold probably has a salary, but Alta doesn’t feel like she’s earned it, so she doesn’t take it and just has that money pumped back into the Arcaneum.
12. Is your oc good with finances? Bartering? How long can they keep the money they make?
I’d say she’s good with money!  Alta is pretty good at sums and estimates, and has a fairly good idea of how much most objects are worth at fair market value due to traveling all over Tamriel and seeing all kinds of different markets to value things in.  She rarely keeps a lot of money on her though since coins are heavy and noisy and easy to misplace.  Most of her money is either in investments with various businesses around Skyrim, or split between banks in all nine holds with her housecarls instructed to use the funds to maintain the household while she’s away.
13. Does your oc have any particular rivalry or mutual dislike with any NPC?
She utterly loathes Elenwen for all her Elenwen-ness, and after the Battle of Windhelm (which ended in Ulfric being forced to surrender without the promise of a glorious death for the bards to sing songs of), she’s really grown to dislike Ulfric Stormcloak.  She disliked him before due to his stubbornness (as well as Tullius’s stubbornness) during the war meeting at High Hrothgar, but him laying down his weapons and asking to die struck her as an act of unforgivable cowardice since he was the one who wanted to die fighting instead of just surrender quietly, and especially after he and his sad little war had given Alduin so much power and caused Skyrim so much strife.
Alta also dislikes Delphine, but that’s more because Delphine’s just rude as hell and lowkey using you to enact a vendetta against the dragons than anything truly unforgivable.  They only become easier allies after a forceful reminder that the Blades are supposed to serve the Dragonborn, not the other way around.
Oh wait that said mutual UHM probably the one girl in the bard’s college who says’s she’s better than everyone.
14. How well-liked is your oc? What is their reputation, if they’re well-known? Are they simply liked/disliked, or are they respected but feared, or personally liked but not taken seriously, etc? Do major factions consider your oc an important player?
I want to say Alta is fairly decently liked?  Or at least as much as a non-Nord in Skyrim can be.  in the beginning she was just a pretty good bard who was always ready to help you out if you needed her to, and then things got more complicated when she was recognized as the Dragonborn.  Since word doesn’t spread fast and there’s no photography in Skyrim, Alta basically has three reputations: the Dragonborn’s, the Bard’s, and the Imperial’s.  Her identity as the Dragonborn is more liked than her identity as Alta Adalrica, and her eventual identity as a renowned bard is probably liked the most of all since bards don’t have to make moral choices.
To the Bards’ College, she’s pretty much just another bard, albeit an especially famous one.  She’s the Arch-Mage of the College of Winterhold, but the professors mostly just consider her a fellow scholar who doesn’t yet realize her talent since she claims to not be worthy of the position on account of only knowing a handful of Restoration spells but is one of the only people alive who can Shout.  The Dawnguard and the Vigilants consider her to be a valuable addition to their ranks, but mostly just another person on the team.
The Forsworn hate her for killing Madanach.  The Dark Brotherhood (or what’s left of it) probably hate her for killing everyone.  Valerica is the only remaining Volkihar vampire after Serana became human and mostly doesn’t care so long as Serena is safe, like at worst she’s peeved that the Dawnguard killed all her minions.
The Companions and the Thieves’ Guild Do Not Know Her.
15. Does your oc have a horse/other mount? A pet? How did they get this animal? If they were given the animal, do they have the money to maintain it? How careful/careless are they with their animal? What do they do with their pets while adventuring, especially on dangerous quests?
All Dragonborns are required by law to adopt Meeko.  So she did.  Meeko lives in Silian Manor with the rest of Alta’s children, pets, and followers.  Alta does have the money to maintain Meeko, though initially she just fed him scraps from hunting and preparing meat in the wild.  After coming back home from Solstheim she also adopted the Steadfast Dwarven Sphere, who mostly just scoots around the floor of the house like a steam-powered roomba.
Alta has tried to keep a horse over the course of her adventures, but they generally end up getting stolen or killed.  After the second dead horse she just said fuck it and stuck with walking and carriages.  Once she came out of the Soul Cairn though, she would end up summoning Arvak to ride on if she needed to go somewhere too far to walk since she doesn’t have to worry about him dying.
16. Does your oc take their time as they travel, or are they purposeful? How do they survive in the wilds, especially if they aren’t hunter-types? How dependent is your oc on civilized society?
Alta sets out intending to go quickly and do only what she needs to do, but she keeps stopping in various buildings or caves for shelter during the night only to end up fighting trolls or wiping out a bandit camp.  And that’s not even getting into “I was halfway to my destination when someone implored me to help them with a thing and I couldn’t just say no.”
She’s able to survive fairly well in the wild, but has no idea what to do if she runs out of plants to forage or animals to hunt, so her ability to survive is ultimately limited before she’s forced to return to civilization.  Additionally, unless she’s traveling somewhere, Alta would get bored to tears pretty quickly in the wild.  She needs her books.
17. What does your oc like to eat? How much food do they eat? Can your oc cook, and can they do it well?
Mostly, Alta just eats whatever she can hunt and forage while she’s traveling on the road.  She keeps a few containers of fresh and dried herbs/spices, and she knows how to look for wild edible plants and fungi.
Alta is a fairly decent cook when she has access to a full pantry, and she enjoys baking things.  He favorite food is mammoth cheese, something that she can, and has raided giant camps for when doing bounty jobs for the various hold jarls.  If you introduced her to fried mammoth cheese it would probably blow her mind.
20. What does your oc wear in the city/settlements? In the house? When travelling, but not adventuring or expecting combat? Do they vary their clothes depending on what hold/city they’re in? If they don’t, why not (e.g., if your oc wears the same outfit to tend their garden or lounge around the house as they did to meet Ulfric or Elisif, why?) Does your oc have a good or bad sense of fashion? How many clothes does your oc have?
Alta wears regular civilian clothes when not adventuring.  If she’s traveling, she’s almost certainly going to end up in combat at some point, either with a bear or a bandit so it’s just practical.  If she’s going somewhere she needs a specific outfit for, she just puts on her Vampire Armor and keeps her normal clothes in a travel bag.  Alta has a decent sense of fashion, but she prefers styles from her native Cyrodiil that aren’t popular in Skyrim, and thus comes across as kind of unfashionable.  I would say she has enough clothes to go two weeks without having to to laundry.
21. How picky is your oc about their gear? Do they have different equipment for different adventures, or is it the same suit of armor for everything (not counting upgrades like from steel to ebony)?
Alta pretty much has the same equipment for everything.  She packs lightly for more maneuverability, and prefers her Vampire Armor over Scale Armor or Elven Armor because it’s more versatile—you can disguise Vampire Armor as a fashion choice at a party or use it to fool vampires from a distance, but you can’t really do the same thing with a suit of Elven Plate.
She’s used a few different weapons over time, settling on a bow for primary combat and a mace to fall back on.  Starting with a carved wooden club and a simple hunter’s bow, she ended her journey with a dragonbone mace and the Bow of Auri-El.
22. How does your oc acquire their clothes, and from where/whom?
Alta mostly buys her clothes, though she will occasionally sew them herself.  She gets a lot of clothes from Khajiiti traders as well.
Her primary set of armor though, came from very early on in her adventures through Skyrim: she’d taken a stop in Morthal on her way to the Hall of the Vigilant after exorcising Sheogorath from the Blue Palace and receiving the Wabbajack, and got roped into dealing with the vampire problem there.  After dealing with Morvath and almost getting killed for not having armor on, she swipes a set of Vampire Armor from his lair and wears that for most of her time adventuring in Skyrim.
23. Can your oc swim, and how well? Have they ever swam in the ocean, or only lakes/rivers? Remember, it’s much harder to swim in the ocean than in a lake!
Alta is bad at swimming.  She knows how to float, and she knows how to paddle, but she’s not going to be able to fight a current and she’s not going to be able to swim quickly.
24. How easy/difficult is it to rob your oc? Pickpocket? Bribe?
When she’s starting out?  Having been a scholar all her life whose only combat experience was hunting for sustenance, it’s really easy to rob/pickpocket her.  Later, when she’s a more experienced adventurer, it’s still fairly easy to pickpocket her, but she keeps several small caches of coin/valuables on her person to make sure that losing one or two isn’t that big of a deal, and she’s a good enough combatant now that outright robbing her is hard.
Alta can only be bribed if: the thing she’s being asked to do is something she would be okay with doing afterwards, and the bribe is something other than money, like rare books or fried mammoth cheese.
26. How helpful is your oc, and why? Are they helpful or kind even during difficult situations? Are they pragmatic, or do they have a hero syndrome?
Stendarr teaches that you should always help your fellow man if you have the means to do so, so even when she doesn’t want to help, Alta will at least try to do something.  She will try to be pragmatic about things, but that doesn’t always work.
Alta is naturally helpful and tries to diffuse any difficult situation she comes across as best she can before taking action: for instance, after finding Aventus Aretino performing the Black Sacrament and mistaking her for a Dark Brotherhood assassin, she sat him down with a cup of tea and talked to him about why he wanted Grelod to be punished so badly and why he felt assassination was the right way to go before making a visit to Grelod herself.
