notice how the only “guards” on the ship were little fixits?? and how terrashock never got a trial (remember he said he got captured then woke up out of stasis)?? the only standard (human-like) decepticon on the ship was overload and thats cause OPTIMUS PRIME HIMSELF locked him up!! so in the Unlikely Situation that the ship crashed or got shredded up in an asteroid field, no autobot lives were lost, and there are a whole lot less cons to deal with

One Decepticon concept I’ve been toying with off and on for RiD15 is a pack of Glitch Mice that descend on Crown City and start causing machinery to malfunction. Conceptually their Robot Modes are based on Beast Wars Metals Rattrap’s cartoony Beast Mode, while their Vehicle Modes are loosely based on Star Wars mouse droids.

I saw them having a controller, as these are more Cybertronic wildlife, and thought of bringing back Slink, the cat burglar Decepticon from the RiD15 chapter books, creating distractions with Glitch Mice as part of a money making scheme. If not her, another cat bot similar to Scratch and Razorpaw then.

Glitch Mice and Retrorats are distinct species, with Snitch, Labrat, Packrat and Rattrap being Retrorats in addition to being fully sentient. Retrorats also appear to enjoy retro things and speak in outdated slang, be it from Cybertron or other planets, lol.

Some other one off ideas I had was a bulldog Decepticon based on Terrashock’s model, a Sharkticon Combiner in the vein of Chop Shop, a Chop Shop recolor made into Tarantulas, a rework of SkyByte who is a Torpedo Deployer (Slapper as a Slicedice retool?), Autobot Dogfight appearing but he’s redesigned to resemble Snoopy’s pilot look in Robot Mode, and helps the Bee Team with an air battle. I’m not sure about this one because I already had Stormshot, Twinferno, Cloudraker and Skyhammer as supporting characters though. I also had considered other Pretenders coming in as guests, though the only one with a shell atm because it’d be plot relevant would be Iguanus, who’d be a large kaiju stomping around Crown City. His true body, in bike mode, is stored in the Pretender Shell’s head, acting like the creature’s brain. Skullgrin/Dauros was also considered possibly in a similar role, and if not, a member of the Buffaloid line instead.

I’ve also toyed with a modified Ultra Bee that possesses a super mode when combined with Stormshot (a gun) and Twinferno (jet pack).

Reoccuring Decepticon mooks working for Steeljaw and Glowstrike would likely be OCs Razorback (Duocon), Mole Dive (Combiner) and Choptor (Ardurian Roc). Choptor is partnered with Mini-Con Sandsting and they partially function as a nod to Blackout and Scorponok from the movies.

pros to having lots of characters in rid2015: there’s a lot to love and a lot to work with

cons to having lots of characters in rid2015: i miss underbite, hammerstrike, chopshop, terrashock, filch, minitron, ped, fracture, airazor, divebomb, malodor and the skunticons, nightstrike, vertebreak, octopunch, headlock, scowl, zizza, pseudo, polarclaw, glacius and swelter, razorpaw, simacore, axiom, theorem, and stockade, and hell, let’s just throw in the fact that we’re probably never gunna get to see the scavengers and starscream’s bounty hunters again, saberhorn, glowstrike and scorpornok’s wasted potential as main baddies in quite possibly their only screen time, and although we got to see them again in season 2, bisk, springload, quillfire, and groundpounder probs won’t get much screentime in the future since they’re not technically in steeljaw’s clique, kickback is just a freaking MYSTERY, overload, crazybolt and slicedice are on very thin ice for relevance and speaking of that i guess megatronus just was absolutely kicked out of everything huh???

I mean that's basically undeniable in rid15; every criminal on the alchemor has a Decepticon symbol but many of them appear to not even be familiar with the war. Specifically I want to cite Terrashock, the buffalo fella? He wakes up confused and disoriented and he very specifically says that the last thing he remembers was getting arrested- he literally didn't even know he was in prison in the first place, and he very clearly describes being an underworld enforcer pre-war. If he went to prison before the war even started how could he be a Decepticon? Even if we assume he became one before the fighting broke out, like... That's not a real Decepticon, he didn't fight in the war, he's not affiliated with the actual war. He's not an enemy soldier.

Heck, going back further in aligned, we know that Bumblebee is an Autobot because at the time he emerged from the well of Allsparks, the Autobots had control over it. Everyone who was born during the war while the Autobots had the allspark became an autobot.

It seems pretty clear cut to me that yes, rescue bots academy absolutely went hole hog and confirmed the existence of child soldiers in this continuity. Prime basically already had with s1 bumblebee- and I guess raf- but like. Wedge was born a con. Seems to me pretty cut and dry, Child Soldiers Exist In Rescue Bots Apparently

In rid I believe many of those bad guys weren't decepticons just criminals called decepticons for their actions. They seem to have nothing to do with actual decepticons. For example if a cybertronian litters a lot post war or is a theif they are called decepticons. I wonder if this ties into wedge?

Pffft yeah the idea with how Cybertron has gotten in RID that they may just throw anybody who causes too much trouble in with the cons is VERY MUCH possible, but IMHO I don't feel like that's what's going on with Wedge. Wedge comments that he was "born as a Decepticon" which seems to imply that he thinks of it as a group you can be born into as opposed to being another word for a delinquent.

Or maybe I just want to believe that because my headcanon that the preschool show confirmed the existence of child soldiers is so full of edgy angst and that's my JAM.
