Terastal Irregularity (A Magopon AU fic)

Prologue: Remembrance of Pain

Deep within the night skies of Dreamland, Planet Popstar, Magolor laid asleep in his ship, the Lor Starcutter. The ship looked majestic and calming, but the captain was having a horrible dream.

In the dream

“Grah! Pon, PON!” Ogerpon yelled, fighting the Loyal 3. “Yipp-ippiti!” The bird yelled. Magolor was just standing there, not seen or heard. What he was witnessing was a bloody scene, Ogerpon wildly swung her cudgel, wanting to avenge her loss. Her loss of a friend. But suddenly, the scene shifts to another time.

He saw the same trio, a bird, a dog, and a monkey. But this time, the bird looked remorseful, and the monkey… looked satisfied to see the badly beaten Ogerpon. Then, two humans came to the scene, both female. “What do you jerks think you’re doing?!” The girl with black and red hair said, sending out a Sinistcha, Magolor remembered that one. “Matcha Gotcha!” She called out the Pokemon’s signature move. Then the dream ended there.

Magolor’s starry eyes shot up. “What was that?!” He shouted aloud. “G-god, that sucked” he mumbles, then starts tearing up, “Arceus above, I remember everything. But… why can’t I just tell them. Why did I lie to Meta Knight that it was all gonna be fine. Damn I need a walk.” Magolor continued then took his Teal Mask along the way out. He then took to the deck and flew off, his mask shining in the night sky. He went to Cookie Country, where he felt the most at peace. Magolor himself always went here to heal mental scars.

“I remember… that cursed day. When… when he… died, … but I suppose when I found out who I am in Another Dimension, I did swear to… forgive them.” Magolor said to himself, smiling sadly. He stayed there for a while, flying aimlessly. But there was a tugging feeling from his soul.

had another au idea so here’s some thoughts

it’s like like kieranpon AU, but i’ve thrown my own little spin on it!

after kieran, briar, carmine, and the main character (haven’t decided whether i will have florian or juliana) go to area zero and find terapagos, kieran ends up terastalizing terapagos, as we know

but instead of what normally happens, kieran gets hit with a tera blast, and is unable to help with the whole. thing.

eventually everyone runs out of pokemon and. well. in the simplest terms i can put it only briar makes it out. if you know.

kieran, and carmine, and the MC, however, due to the Overwhelming Amount of Terastal energy in the area, do survive, but in their own way.

they are placed in an alternate timeline, with no memory of the previous one. this displacement however, causes them to “merge” with existing characters

Carmine and Kieran end up taking attributes from Ogerpon, and the MC ends up taking attributes from Terapagos (they’ve already been in contact with large amounts of terastal energy with the whole time machine thing so.)

Kieran, however, has a. special situation.

due to his mental state and all, he kind of ends up getting split in two (unaware from his knowledge. well, at least the Ogerpon half)

The part of him that ends up merging with Ogerpon takes most of his personality and such, but has no memory of the previous timeline.

The other part of him, however, it ends up merging with Pecharunt. This half, however, is much smaller than the part that merges with Ogerpon, and therefore is kind of working with scraps. the Pecharunt Kieran is aware that he is only part of a whole, and is extremely envious of his other part

The Ogerpon half has NO idea that the Pecharunt half exists, though

outside of main story lore:

All of them have forms that resemble their original pokémon selves, though Carmine, Kieran (Ogerpon Half), and the MC mainly stay in a human like form. Pecharunt Kieran, however, due to only having scraps of his self, switches between both forms often.

also, Pecharunt Kieran is like a mishmash of both Kieran AND Pecharunt, while Ogerpon Kieran is mostly Kieran in terms of like. identity

Well when it comes to the fusion. You need a few details:

How did Kieran fuse with the trio?

We need some background info as to what happened.

How is the fusion designed? (Reskinning, sticking random parts, a hybrid or looks-to-be-a-fusion-but-could-be-its-own-character?)

Is this form curated so its less monster-ish or a series of random mutations that it looks hideous?

What are its power sets and power combos?

How strong is it?

Does it retain Kieran's memories or is it a savage beast?

it gains pecharunt’s toxic chain, ogerpon’s ability Embody Aspect and part of it’s type, and terapagos’s ability to terastalize (but it’s only activated when the Pokémon is jn control of it’s mind)

At full power, he could possibly be close with mewtwo in terms of sheer power. But in base, he’s possibly more close to say, the legendary birds or beasts.

at first he seems like a savage beast due to all four of them (ogerpon and pecharunt, especially) sharing the same body and thus are unable to gain full control. After a battle against Florian/juliana and carmine (and some well needed therapy), they all decide that Kieran should get (mostly) full control of the body.

also his battle theme would be a distorted amalgamation of all four of their respective themes but barely visible audio of the cries of pecha, oger, and tera barely visible in the background and a womanly wail representing Kieran.

I have so many ideas for Pokémon scarlet and violet, but I just know that if I start I will never finish, and honestly I have no one to discuss them

Like I have managed to sort of planned a no terastalization au, which is just Juliana (I picked Juliana) being unable to terastalize (for reasons that Are slightly integral to the plot), and Nemona is the only one knowing of this secret because they battle quite regularly, enough for Nemona to at least pick up that her rival doesn’t do the one mechanic in this region which is quite damning for her when she can’t win with her rival who is technically handicapped in this area

Everyone else however assumes that Juliana does this out of choice, and she doesn’t really confirm this but it gets out of hand after Iono accidentally hypes up this area, saying she hopes to be the one to force the Juliana to terastalize (her and that no weakness mismagius), which leads to a bunch of trainers coming at her trying to battle her and force her to terastalize

Nemona on the other hand learns about this, and instead of taking this like some douchebag rivals probably would, is absolutely STOKED

Her rival is awesome, she can’t terastalize and she still beat the gym leaders, she doesn’t think of you less if anything she thinks you’re the world to her

Also I headcanon that Nemona got the idea that she needed a rival from watching television (like some shounen protagonists), and the tendency for rivals to be from the same hometown is higher, so she’s just waiting for the perfect rival to beat her up and than Juliana comes along

Also in this AU I take inspiration from a tumblr post I read that suggested what if one of the professors built the other professor instead (so Turo builds AI Sada, or Sada builds AI Turo), because I wanna foreshadow some plot with regards to why Juliana can’t terastalize, let me know who posted it I’ll credit you

I just think there’s something sweet/romantic/horrendously tragic about someone building their loved one into an AI, which also makes Arven’s story more tragic because he had both parents (technically) but both of them were very busy (and one of them can’t leave on account of being a robot), only for him to realise BOTH are dead, one earlier than the other

Also an additional thought, but like what if the AI tried to build another AI of their creator, so now Arven really gets gaslit two times harder

We get twice the number of paradox pokemon chucked at us by two AI

Actually I doubt that our helpful AI would subject a second AI to their fate, so only one would be forced to go away, the other can’t leave until another plot point happens

Weird AU idea

Currently I have been watching a lot of Rick & Morty, and with my obsession with Pokemon SV and the AUs that I have seen here…. I came up with this.

Cass10p31a.01

A Penny from an universe where Team Star became so powerful to the point of becoming a citadel all over Paldea. There are no traces of Arven, Florian, Juliana, Nemona, the Elite 4 (She get rid of them), not even the other Team Star bosses. As you see in the image, the “Andromeda City” works with terastal energy, which is extracted from the Great Crater of Paldea and Terapagos. Unfortunately, the terastal energy of both will run out at some point, so Penny had no choice than travel to other universes to get new terastal energy, that being Terapagos, the usual in Galar ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Personality and Behavior

This Penny is more “sociable”, at least can talk to people without any problem. She has a calm and direct attitude when talking to others, she usually only talks to others to ask for favors, although when you bother her she becomes colder and more serious, and if she doesn't get what she wants from you, she will just leave (She won't give up so easily, she doesn’t stop until she get what she wants). She is more expressive when online or under her alias of Cassiopeia, or in this case, Cass10p31a.01.

If you are not a threat, she will not do anything to you, it is not convenient for her, she would only look for you if you are useful for her objectives, but if you are a threat, she will avoid you or try to get rid of you from the shadows. That if she is not in her universe, otherwise, if you are a threat she will just use the Terablaster.

Gadgets

Cass10p31a.01 has an artifact that looks like a watch, which is what helps her travel to other universes, it also can teleport (but only within a 2 meter range), create a force field and change her appearance to someone else (Usually other Pennys). The watch works the same as a Tera Orb, it needs to be recharged after use, each of its functions has a different number of uses before needing to recharge (1 universe travel and change appearance, 3 teleport and 5 minutes of force field).

She has a chip on her neck that helps her imitate other people's voices. She also has another chip in her glasses that connects to her watch to be able to locate the place where she wants to teleport, it also helps locate people with trackers (Yes, she also has trackers) and obtain data of technology, objects, pokemon and people. Needless to say, she retains her programming and hacking abilities, even better than the original Penny, she has more years of experience.

This is not a gadget, but it is something that she uses a lot in the city, the Terablaster. The Terablaster is a massive weapon that Cass10p31a.01 uses on criminals and people she considers threats. This weapon fires a powerful beam similar to the move that inspires the name of the weapon, this beam turns everything it touches into Tera Shards, needless to say, you don't survive that.....

Fun Facts

-She still has her Eevee backpack, it's a little old and torn, seeing it makes her nostalgic.

-She has the 8 eeveelutions but, except Sylveon, she never uses them to battle, they are just her pets.

-The affection she has for her Sylveon is comparable to that of a trainer with his starter, that's why it’s the only Veevee she uses in battles.

-She took Geeta's place, so in addition to being the ruler of Paldea, she is the president of the new Pokemon League, the Andromeda League.

-Eri is the only Team Star boss who shows a trace in this universe, being a member of the Andromeda League. She is the only person who has a friendship with Cass10p31a.01.

-She is online under the pseudonym VeeVeeFan.01 to go unnoticed.

-She is envious of some Pennys because they have a normal and happy life with friends, while she is alone in the Andromeda City. And those that don't? She gives them a little help from the shadows ;)

-She would like to start from scratch, completely move away from Andromeda City and Team Star, start a new life in another region or universe, but she knows it's too late for that… or not?

(And we finished, I'm surprised how long this took me to do, I guess it was because of school and personal stuff :/ Anyway, if this is successful, maybe I'll make a story or those Q&A accounts I see on Tumblr with her, idk it also depends if I'm inspired to do that (Spoiler: I am :3)).

So I made this AU where the top three of blueberry academy are not human through very wack methods basically the timeline: -le bike lizards (koraidon) are brought from past

-one bike lizard is smarter than the other by a LOT, so Sada tried experimenting on it with Tera energy, to the point where it was sapient and could shapeshift into a little girl

-girl bike lizard sees other bike lizard murk Sada and flies away, somehow gets adopted by family and named Juliana

-plot of SV continues on as normal (mostly), but Juliana reveals herself to her friends just before they fly down to Area Zero

-overcomes trauma and stuff and finally wins

-Juliana does all the Teal Mask stuff and almost accidentally reveals herself to Kieran once

-Juliana had issues with Indigo Disk stuff (cough, polar biome and she’s a reptile, cough) but manages to go down again to area Zero with Kieran after some consoling

-When Terapagos fires the blast STRAIGHT AT KIERAN, she reveals her Koraidon form and blocks the beam but half of it still spills offer and hits Kieran directly in the arm

-Kieran musters up enough strength to help defeat Terapagos but then kinda goes unconscious, starts crystalising

-rushed to Paldean hospital where he finally stops crystalising through bringing out Terapagos again to stop the crystalisation

-boy is now half turtle boy (he can Terastalise, cannot shapeshift)

-Briar pressures Juliana to use Terapagos in a battle again so she can observe, Drayton offers to be the battle partner

-toothpaste boy accidentally walks too close to the battle arena and gets hit by a 120 bp stellar Tera Starstorm right in the chest

-Kieran (now with Terapagos powers) attempts to heal him with defensive energy, but causes the energy to go even more wonk, so he asks Terapagos and comes up with a medicine made of Tera shards and everstones

-onion boy forgot to put normal Tera shards and ghost Tera shards in the medicine :(

-normal and ghost defensive energy (like you know Terapagos’ terastal form shell, that kind of energy) was NOT expelled

-toothpaste boy gets minor injury and painfully (tm) turns into h-zorua

-he has VERY NEGATIVE feelings about that, he communicates with Kieran and attacks turtle boy, Juliana had to intervene

-the three are fine now but all traumatised

to clarify: The three keep their predicament a secret from most, Drayton can use illusions, Juliana can physically shapeshift, Kieran cannot shapeshift but can terastalise

And yes all three of them can battle

I wasn't initially planning to expand on this AU anymore than I already had, because it was quite literally just a fleeting thought about "what if the next Legends game took place in Gen 9?" But I've been getting so many reblogs and comments and even a few asks on this ever since I posted the first set of designs, so I thought I'd briefly go over this AU in text form! So:

What's this AU about?

It's basically a Legends Terapagos, obviously inspired by Legends Arceus. Juliana enters Area Zero after an earthquake takes place in one of the lower caverns of Area Zero, where Terapagos suddenly comes out of it's ball and causes them to travel through time and space back to the distant lands of Kitakami, where the Crystal Pool had begun to form. The time she appears in happens to be around the same time Pecharunt, the Loyal Trio, and Ogerpon and her friend roam. Juliana's goal is to investigate the Crystal Pool's origins, how it connects back to Area Zero, and how to get Terapagos to come out of it's Jewel, as it had retreated once the two had traveled through time and has not since come out.

How did she appear all the way in Kitakami?

Similar to how the professors are summoned to the Crystal Pool by Terapagos all the way from Area Zero, Juliana is send from Area Zero to Kitakami's Crystal Pool. The seismic reading is meant to indicate an overwhelming amount of Terastal energy being emanated, which gives Terapagos the overwhelming power to more permanently mess around with time and space hijinks, and also explain why it has since retreated into its jewel (used too much power.)

Doesn't this then create a time paradox if Juliana is sent all the way back in time to when the DLC legendaries/mythicals originated?

Yes and no...? The Professors have suggested that what the time machine and Terapagos actually do is not time travel itself, but instead crossing into extremely similar alternate timelines, which would also partially explain the Bootstrap Paradox of you naming the Winged King/Iron Serpent, + the professors giving you the Scarlet/Violet Book in exchange for Briar's Book, even though Arven should have the professor's book that eventually gets taken with the time machine....

If you want to call bullshit on this theory though, then let's just leave it at this: there's no reason why Ogerpon, Pecharunt, or any of the Loyal Three would remember her after several hundreds of years when she's only there for a (relatively) short time. They just forget about her for the most part.

Is she stuck in the past seemingly forever, similar to Akari/Rei and Ingo?

No. The "three years post-incident" is meant to indicate that she disappeared for 3 years, but suddenly appeared again.

How and where did she come back?

Shortly after the canonical events between Ogerpon and the Loyal Trio + Pecharunt, Juliana goes back to fervently researching the original Crystal Pool. Ogerpon and Juliana have formed a bond, and she follows her around after the Mask-Maker's death. Using a combination of Ogerpon's terastal energy imbued within her mask, the crystal clusters within the pool, and the amateur Tera Orb the Mask Maker helped her create, Terapagos awakens again, and sends her home.... to the present day Crystal Pool in Kitakami. It's Kieran and Carmine's grandparents who find her after her arrival.

Why the Crystal Pool and not Area Zero? Idk I just thought it'd be cool. Headcanon it either way you want to, it really doesn't matter where she reappears in the context of this AU.

What happened to the Zero Crew and the Blueberry kids during Juliana's time gone?

Nemona, Penny, Kieran, and Drayton all join the Paldea league in some capacity, with Kieran and Drayton being recruited to the Elite 4, Nemona as the acting Top Champion, and Penny working in cybersecurity as well as virtually patrolling the closed off Area Zero.

Carmine has also moved to Paldea to Levencia to become a model as well as watch over Kieran.

Arven doesn't resent the current League, persay, but he does not keep frequent contact with anyone after Area Zero is sealed off. Juliana's Pokémon other than Terapagos were left behind, and they were dispersed across her friends to take care of them. Arven takes Koraidon, though he becomes just about as standoffish to it as he was at the beginning of the game.

Amarys, Lacey, and Crispin are still in Unova, training to be gym leaders after graduating Blueberry. They keep in frequent contact with Carmine and Nemona.

What happens after Juliana returns?

Juliana has a hard time remembering her friends for a while because of how long she was gone compared to how long she knew them, even when they remind her of times spent together. Her relationships with everyone are strained for a long while before she begins to open up about her experiences. Although she had once been the prospective Top Champion of Paldea, she doesn't find the idea of joining the League or becoming a gym leader enjoyable anymore. Instead, she returns to working with Jacq, who has since become a Professor specializing in Pokémon biology and variants, and shares her experience with the regional forms and convergents of Kitakami's Pokémon. Arven and Penny become much less hostile after Juliana's return, Nemona and Kieran's spunk begin to come back, Blueberry's former Elite 4 + Carmine visit more often to also help Juliana ease back into modern life. It's a happy ending, even if not a perfect one.

If you have more questions, feel free to ask, though I can't guarantee I have a good plot-hole free answer, let alone one at all haha. I don't really see myself going in on this AU much more after this, but who knows, maybe I'll return to it later after I get my current one out of my system.

POKEMON SCARVI AU

3 years ago, Juliana was tasked by Top Champion Geeta, also known as La Primera, to investigate a seismic reading found within Area Zero's depths.

Within 3 hours of Juliana's entrance to Area Zero, the seismic reading goes silent.

Within 5 days, a rescue team comprising of three of the Paldea Elite 4 as well as one champion leveled Naranja student are deployed to pull Juliana out.

Within 2 weeks, a quiet excursion comprising of three Naranja Academy students and six Blueberry Academy students are deployed to pull Juliana out.

Within 2 weeks and 3 days, Juliana is officially declared a missing person.

Within 2 weeks and 5 days, Area Zero is officially sealed from all personal, public and private.

Within 5 weeks, Top Champion Geeta resigns from her position as Top Champion, with Elite 4 member and Naranja Academy professor Hassel taking her place.

I offer an idea for your terastalisation au: Koriadon crystalising when they jump in to protect Kieran. Now they match their trainer in having tera jewels on their self, and in such proximity to Terapagos, it miiight flare up just a bit. Surely there'll be no consequences for this afterwards?

I saw your terastilized juliana art and it reminded me of a moment in the dlc. When you approach the elevator, your asked if you've gone down it before. Answering 'i dont know' makes Briar say "Oh? Did you already forget what happened last time you were here? Perhaps this is a side effect of prolonged exposure to Area Zero..." Which just, gives so many ideas to ways being down in area zero for too long could mess someone up

That was where I was coming from with it, though my interpretation is pretty sure that the response comes from being uncomfy about Briar’s intentions, which, thoughts about Briar aside (and I have a l o t to say), my inspiration from it actually came from seeing the crystallized tree you find in the Underdepths. (Which reminds me a lot of Xerneas which, yknow, the theories about Paldea and Kalos being connected and the crater a result of it have some ground here I would think.)

I did have a mini uh au/worldbuild about it that I’m mentally fleshing out.

Putting stuff under the cut —

Originally it was inspired from the fact that AI Sada and Tulo both terastalize as a failsafe result of the programming and also just from overuse of the time machine harvesting terastal energy.

My idea was that the Paldaen Squad all got ‘terastal scarring’ as a result of this; it affected EVERYONE, but MC (Juliana) gets the worst of it from directly taking the burden of battling AI Sada/Tulo.

For the most part, cos they all left immediately afterward, they were pretty okay from it and it didn’t have too many adverse effects.

So it isn’t until MC agrees to go down to the depths the second time around that the consequences start really taking effect due to the energy being more pure and potent than from the caves above. And the deeper they go the worse it gets and then I haven’t quite yet worked out the rest, but I am thinking extremely heavily about the emotional ramifications regarding the ‘Dons and how it affects everyone else (including Kieran). The image of a Titan Terastal Koraidon trying to defend MC (Juliana) currently lives rent free in my brain. And maybe there’s a way Terapagos can be helpful rather than being misused.

When I work it out, I’ll make a post and draw stuff about it (probably) but yeah.

Chapter 3: Dreams and Tales Lost to the Stars

“Wa? Magolor? What do you mean by that?” Sailor asked, not understanding what Magolor meant. “Is anyone going to tell me anything? What’s happening? I can’t get anything!” She said, wanting to know. Magolor looked like he didn’t want to talk but,Meta Knight did not want a lie. He wanted the truth, and Magolor is going to give it him. He sighs and says, “Well, I suppose I better start talking. You saw how I handled Dipplin earlier. That crystallized state is called ‘Terastallization’. It’s a phenomenon in the Paldea Region.” He pauses, giving everyone time to let it sink in.

“I never thought that I’d open the can of worms this early, but it is what it is. Anyway, this little tale that I’m going to tell you starts in the Land of Kitakami. Well, at least parts that are important. My name was Ogerpon, the so-called Ogre of Kitakami’ but there’s more to the tale. Long time ago, a friend and I were traveling until we came across Kitakami. But because we looked different, we were cast out of the village and we had to stay at a mountain. Honestly, nothing really changed except us staying in one place. No one bothered with us like helping kind, but there was someone that took pity on us. The village mask maker.” Once again Magolor paused, taking the Teal Mask from his head, looking at it for a while then continuing,

“He made the masks, yes the Teal Mask was part of it, so we could attend the Festival of Masks. Soon enough, we were the talk of the festival. Word spread about the beautiful masks here and there. And it only took three lousy Pokemon to ruin it all.” Tears now started to fall from Magolor.

“When I left that fateful day, I never knew it was the last time… I… I would see my friend. I don’t know what happened, and that hurts me! If only I knew… when I returned to the den, I only found… my Teal Mask… and signs of a struggle. It Arceus damned stung!” He said, tears now flowing down, close to a breakdown. Meta Knight may have suspected Magolor hid so much, but he never expected it to be so much. So much to the point that it would trigger an emotional breakdown. “I never thought… that it would be this much. No wonder he didn’t want to share the tale. I can keep Sailor quiet about this. And because almost no one studies that far in time, they would take him for crazy.” Meta thought, shocked at the amount of emotional baggage Magolor had.

“Magolor?” He asked to the mage, who was still crying, blaming himself. “Magolor! Calm down. Take deep breaths, follow my lead. In, out, in, out.” Meta said, trying to calm Magolor. The mage was able to, but he still looked pained. “S-sorry. I-I’ll continue now.” He said, pained by what was going to be said next, but still powered through with it, though Meta Knight tried to make him stop. “Those l-lousy idiots, t-they took the other three masks. The Hearthflame Mask, the Wellspring Mask, and the Cornerstone Mask. I made them pay, pay for that. They were killed by me… and I regretted everything. They were revered as the heroes and me as the villain. Is it so, so wrong to avenge someone?!
