Not the prettiest baby birds in the world, but so cute

Did I tell you that I love moorhens? I do. I find them cute and funny. I mean they have these very long toes, but then they are very good at climbing and they built their nest quite high up above the water in bushes. And just like the crows they can remember people which is why some of them know me and they come running up to me as soon as they see me. And they are fierce birds that are very territorial and fight for their chicks, even the crows don't want to mess with them.

This by the way is one of the local couples and their only surviving chick occupying the park bank which I usually sit on with my bench buddy crow. They had four in two hatches, but only one made it until now, which is not unusual. They have quite a lot of enemies.

The best thing thing today was that I saw a family of moorhens! Look at them! So cute! <3

I am sorry, but the chicks are so ugly. XD
