Prologue Part 1

KHR TYL!Timeline & Consequences

This all started with a short-sighted act of revenge, like so many other parts of Vongola's bloodsoaked history.

After Byakuran's death, and the death or capture of the Six Funeral Wreaths, Millefiore's downfall was basically ensured, meaning the misplaced teenagers were finally allowed to go home! There were quick, but heartfelt goodbyes and then, one by one, the time travelers stepped through the large, round machine to finally, finally return home.

Accompanying them for a two-way trip, of course, were this time period's Arcobalenos. Just to seal the Past's Mare Rings, to prevent any further heartache. To hopefully change all parallel worlds in which Byakuran succeeded with his hostile takeover.

The machine could only handle one or two people passing through it at once, so sending the teens back became almost ceremonial. Not to mention that there was a brief overlap when some of the teens encountered Vongola's actual Boss. Adult Tsuna instantly grew flustered and uncomfortable with the amazement and praise he was receiving and retreated to the back of the room.

A naive mistake...

Either way, inevitably the young Hibari Kyoya stepped up to the portal. He'd be the last to pass through, right after their Skull, whom this teen unceremoniously kicked through ahead of himself.

Tiny Kyoya waited for the machine to fall silent, signaling that it was fine to pass through, only to turn slightly, now facing the room. That angry, sharp whistle immediately got everyone's attention and the teen gave them an absolutely withering glare. "This was by far the worst week of my life."

Confusion instantly silenced all conversations, several people now alert and worried, but the teen continued easily. His smirk was definitely cloudy and sadistic when he pulled something out of his pocket. "I'm taking these as compensation."

And there, comfortably clasped between the teenager's fingers, wrapped in Mammon's chains, were the missing Sun and Lightning Mare Rings. Every other ring has been accounted for, only those two were presumed lost or destroyed, because they didn't show up on any radar when the scientists checked.

Instantly, everyone lunged for tiny Kyoya, but even as a teen, he'd always been unnaturally quick. At the very least quick enough to pocket some rings and take a step, before any of them managed to grab hold of him. Not even Dino's whip snapped that fast. Tsuna might've stood a chance, but with how far away he was from the machine, he didn't have a clear path.

And just like that, the machine whirred and Teen Kyoya disappeared in a flash of light.

Chaos immediately ensued.

For a moment nobody knew what to do and even then, most of the adult guardians did not have any kind of reason to trust Irie when he urged them to follow the teen to retrieve the rings. And no, Adult Kyoya could not be put back in the machine to force the teen to reappear.

Mostly because he was experiencing advanced symptoms of blood loss. Afterall, he'd been bleeding from countless wounds he suffered at Genkishi's blades for all the days he'd spend in the machine. Tsuna forced first aid onto him immediately, but it was still too late.

Because when the Arcobalenos returned, which they did within minutes, they did so all at once. And that promptly melted through the round machine's core processor and fried most of the attached computers' motherboards. In summary, they are stuck until everything would be repaired, at which point, who knows what that teenaged menace would've done with those rings!?

At least, even with several chunks of their Tri-ni-sette unaccounted for, Time, Space and Reality didn't rip apart at the seams...

... Right?

Two Panels back to back this time because they are having a conversation here that I wanna keep cohesive!

Because I think this really really shows how TYL!Kyoya usually interacts with typical Mafiosi.

First! A reminder: right here Gamma has no idea Kyoya is in any way an ally. Nor that him and Kyoya would ever be allies. They are just making conversation for the heck of it, yet, to me, Kyoya immediately comes across as kind of defensive or irate?

Maybe it's because Hayato and Takeshi have been beaten, but the way he refuses to give any amount of info on himself is odd. Cause he was perfectly fine with revealing that the teens came from the past? But he's just flat refusing to engage with Gamma any further.

Maybe he's just eager to battle, but what if this is just how he interacts with Mafiosi? What if the Mafia hasn't been treating him with any of the respect he's rightfully earned?

I like to think the Mafia blatantly disrespect him on the regular, so Kyoya just doesn't put any effort into being polite or making pre-fight conversation these days. Like I think the way Gamma acts is almost disrespectful in a warped way? He's chitchatting at Kyoya like they aren't about to fight! He is not seeing Kyoya as a serious threat here, this nit giving Kyoya the respect he's owed.

Or!! Another idea/option on why Kyoya is acting this way!! Maybe this is just how he checks what kind of info the Mafia is circulating about him? Cause with minimal effort, he somehow made Gamma reveal some crucial info here.

Like the fact that Millefiore has an intelligence unit watching him somehow. And that Millefiore, or it's Blackspell division at least, isn't entirely sure about his allyship to Vongola.

Those are things Kyoya could absolutely use to his advantage. And he barely had to work to get that out of Gamma. I think this just shows that Kyoya is an expert in acquiring info at this point. But also these headcanons can be merged. Kyoya can be defensive and still be gathering info.

Why and when did Kyoya leave Namimori?

I think Kyoya left Namimori when he turned 18. Because I headcanon Sawada Nana is a cloud that used to have Namimori as her territory before Iemitsu messed her up. When Kyoya finds this out, he feels A LOT. None of his emotions are good about it btw.

Did he leave willingly?

In the end, he leaves Namimori of his own free will, even if he has to force himself to go. In fact, he just straight up disappears off the face of the world for a while. Leaves behind his armband and a letter explaining what's up and disappears without a single warning lmao. Tsuna&Co freak out about it too.

Was he on a mission of Foundation work?

I think after Kyoya leaves Namimori he has too much freetime so he creates the Foundation to keep himself busy. So he was doing Foundation work before the Millefiore attacked and he had to go back to Namimori for the first time in 8 years.

Was Kyoya in Italy when the Vongola branch fell?

I don't think Kyoya would've been in Italy when the Millefiore attacked. Even TYL!Kyoya doesn't strike me as someone very interested in the mafia, aside from the fighting. He probably tends to keep his distance unless there is information or battles to be had. Even Gamma claims the Millefiore intelligence couldn't figure out if Hibari was Vongola's ally or enemy but that will be a different post altogether :3c

Did he have an ulterior motive aside from saving the teens?

I think Kyoya has a lot of love and affection for his fellow guardians so his return was primarily to protect them. But I think there was an ulterior motive too. Afterall, helping Vongola out would put a lot of his personal projects on hold. That motive being... Rokudo Mukuro. Cause I think they've come to an understanding (will be it's own post) and Kyoya wanted him freed.

Was this the excuse he needed to return, or would he rather not?

I think Kyoya would prefer to keep his own business and Namimori a little seperate these days. He tends to hyperfixate and Namimori grabs his attention very easily. So he probably came back at least somewhat unwillingly.

Also some my headcanons for the TYL timeline and what Hibari did after leaving!

Don't worry folks! He reappeared after like a month at the Cavallone mansion in Italy. People were so mad at him, but he wasn't in a good place either, so any anger got met with dismissal and annoyance. He didn't even feel up to fighting for a while cause forced cloud territory removal hurts. Luckily Dino had some spare patience and understanding laying around so Kyoya wasn't kicked out onto the streets.

After recuperating, I think Kyoya packed some stuff, bought a cheap campavan and went to travel the world on his own. Plenty of shenanigans were had. Foundation was created. Kyoya accidentally forged a whole worldwide network, so he does qualify as a pretty good informant these days.

Kyoya is actually met with a lot of disrespect when it comes to mafia people, especially clouds, cause they view him abandoning Namimori and being wishy washy about the Vongola as his loyalties being fickle. Incorrect since he kept the Committee alive and well. Namimori is still absolutely thriving under his long distance love.

Kyoya leaving actually improved his relationships with Tsuna&Co in the long term since they had to seek him out when they needed him and eventually ended up spending prolonged periods of time with him one on one. No crowding, no noisiness, no fighting. Under these specific circumstances Kyoya is an absolutely pleasant lad I reccon. This headcanon skews heavily into All/Kyoya territory lmao. Kyoya likes skinship and intimacy to show affection. He's no good with words lmao

This is the first time we actually see TYL!Hibari Kyoya. And this one panel brings with it a whole entire slew of my headcanons!!!

Because Kyoya said 'It's been a long time Namimori' which immediately makes me think that he left Namimori quite a while ago. Perhaps several years. Which brings me a whole slew of questions to be answered!

Why did TYL!Hibari say this?

When did he leave?

Did he leave willingly or did he feel forced to go?

Was he just on a mission, or does Foundation require that he permanently be away from Namimori to do his resesarch himself?

Where was he? Was he in Italy? If so, does that mean he happened to witness the fall of Vongola's Italian branch?

Why did he come back? Obviously to protect the teenage Vongola, but did he have a personal reason? An ulterior motive?

Was this the excuse he needed to get back to Namimori, or... Would he rather avoid tending to Namimori in person?

OR!! Is all this moot and he's just being dramatic? Like he was gone for a week on some random retrieval/beat em up mission and he's bitter about it?

Do consider just a few panels before or after this TYL!Yamamoto claimed this when talking about Kyoya: 'I was just on a mission myself, so I have no idea where that guy is.' All of which, to me, indicates that Kyoya moves about frequently. Within or outside of Namimori's borders.
