I'd like to start by saying that Okoye has always been an exceptional player. There are certain elements that are always memorable to me when I think of draft day lasting memories and guarantee that I'll continue to follow certain players I do not have any actual attachments to and Okoye will forever be one of those guys.

There was a lot made about the possibility that Okoye, 19. was going to be one of the youngest players to be selected in the first round. He chose Louisville when he was only 15 and decided to turn down Harvard to make the choice. He played college football when he turned 16. He was a student at the time of his graduation. He made the second team All-American at 19. He had a huge head on his shoulders. He was an outstanding athletic for his age and the thought of what Okoye could become was an overwhelming thought. But at a certain point are we over-emphasizing the player's potential as opposed to what he is? Is it possible that Okoye would have been an appropriate choice in the third round as a development project to perhaps play on a regular basis when he's 23 or 24. instead of when he's 20?

But the Texans did not consider his age and took him, while also overlooking the next group of players who were drafted, which included Patrick Willis, Marshawn Lynch, and Darrelle Revis. What do you think of the Texans today without Willis and Revis?

One could note that the 2007 draft was full with disappointments. There were players selected ahead of Okoye like Levi Brown, Jamaal Anderson and Ted Ginn Jr, but Okoye seems like the one that stands out the most due to the fact that it was always a risk to select a teenager into the Madden NFL 24 that earlier in the draft. Six Ohio State Players Selected in 2022 NFL Draft

Ohio State University has one of the most distinguished college football programs in the United States. The Buckeyes football team, founded in 1904, has won 40 conference titles and eight national championships, the most recent of which was in 2014. The school has also done a great job at preparing athletes to play in the National Football League (NFL). Fifty-two former Buckeyes were on NFL rosters at the beginning of the 2022 season, which was second to only the University of Alabama. Six Buckeyes were selected in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Wide receivers Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave headlined Ohio State's 2022 NFL Draft class, as they were selected back-to-back at 10th and 11th overall by the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints, respectively. Wilson was the first Ohio State receiver to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft since the Miami Dolphins took Ted Ginn seventh overall in 2007. His first-round selection marked seven consecutive years in which a Buckeyes player was drafted in the first round.

Named a first-team All-American by the Athletic and the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), Wilson finished the 2021 season with 70 catches for 1,058 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. He is tied for eighth all-time in career receiving yards (2,213) by an Ohio State player. He is also tied for eighth in program history with 143 career receptions and ranks seventh with 23 career touchdowns.

Olave, selected by the Saints one pick after Wilson, was the ninth Buckeyes receiver ever taken in the first round of the NFL Draft. A team captain in 2021, he finished his senior year with 65 catches for 936 yards and 13 touchdowns and was named first-time All-American by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). Olave holds the Ohio State record for most career touchdowns (35) and is third and fifth, respectively, in receptions (176) and receiving yards (2,711).

Offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere (Tennessee Titans), tight end Jeremy Ruckert (New York Jets), defensive end Tyreke Smith (Seattle Seahawks), and offensive lineman Thayer Munford (Las Vegas Raiders) were the other four Buckeyes selected in the 2022 NFL Draft. Petit-Frere, chosen 69th overall in the third round, is a 6-foot-5, 315-pound tackle who was considered among the best in college football at his position last season. He was named first-team All-American by CBS Sports and the FWAA.

Ruckert, also selected in the third round, is a 6-foot-5, 252-pound tight end who played 46 games for the Buckeyes from 2018 to 2021 and was included on the 2021 Mackey Award Watch List for the top tight ends in the country. Smith, a fifth-round selection, was a key member of the Buckeyes defense who won three Big Ten titles with the team. He concluded his Ohio State career with 55 tackles and seven sacks.

Munford, selected in the seventh round, earned four all-Big Ten Conference honors in his five-year career at Ohio State and was an AFCA first-team All-American in 2021. He was awarded the Ohio State Block “O” jersey for displaying unmatched character, toughness, and accountability in 2021.

Two other players on the Ohio State roster in 2021 signed free agent deals with NFL teams. Defensive tackle Garrett Haskell signed with the Titans, while running back Master Teague III signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
