I want this poster in my dorm. Let’s get to work.
(Lots of images and a bit of a long post below the cut)
First order of business is to get a straightened image of only the poster. Aspect ratio seems to be 3:4. I don’t think I can just print this with the prominent green overlay- it’d look out of place. And ink is expensive.
I’ve made a recreation of the poster, with the cropped image as my guide. It’s made to print on white paper with standard red and black ink. The poster will be aged/stained/distressed whatever you want to call it after printing. Here's mine with the original on top, and the clean version alone. Couldn't get the letter spacing perfect, but it’s not bad, and it only took four saves to get a file I was happy with. Sent it off to the print shop!
In the meantime, it's time for a test run of tea-staining. I decimated the tea bag and rubbed the grounds into the paper to get the mottled effect on the top two pages. The bottom paper was done with green tea and as you can see it's barely evident.
We are gathered here today in honor of the chai* we lost along the way, bravely sacrificing themselves in the line of paper-staining duty. Their efforts, while experimental, are nonetheless vital to the success of the project.
*there was also green tea but the stain was weak and I don't like green tea as much as chai so I don't feel bad about it
Then the water pump to my house broke so I went to a hotel overnight to have running water which was in the same town as the print shop so I got to pick up the poster! The red's a little washed out but oh well. The lady at the print shop unrolled it to show me so that I could verify it was the right one, and she thought it was great. I told her it's for my dorm room and that I felt a dorm needs at least one real weird bit of decor, and she agreed that it really adds to the aesthetic. It's here, I have running water to make tea with again, now it's time for teabaggi- nope, can't say that. Um. Time to stain it.
The first stain was done with one bag of double-spice chai. It didn't go very far because i prepared the tea for, y'know, drinking and didn't get to dip the bag back in to refresh it. The second stain was with two bags of single-spice which I dipped back into the tea to get more stain. I kept dipping them after breaking them open, then forgot I did that and went to drink the tea only to remember it's full of nasty leaf bits. I drank it anyway and brushed my teeth afterward. Here it is before staining, after the first stain, and right after the second with the tea bits still on it.
Here it is all done and hung up!! It's an accent piece, a conversation starter. Now to invade Mr. Gaiman's inbox.

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR FAV OC
Despite how many bad ideas I’ve put him through, my first OC Teabaggy will always be my favourite just for how big a part of my life he is artistically.
I made him in 2008 with the help of friends based on stuff i intensely liked at the time when I was a teenager - basically, punk, demons and the devil may cry 3 aesthetic LMAO
Sorry Kevin, but he was the original asshole ha ha

Fresh food assistant section manager- art tba
Teague Buchanon (T.B. or “Teabaggy”) - Age 28/ M / Single / Rogue melee / 5″8
T.B. is difficult to work with in a sense that no one entirely can figure out whether they are apathetic, calm or plain lazy. Emergances are dealt with in the same nauchelant manner as everyday tasks are and, as such, everything tends to flow in the same time span regardless of pressures. It’s either a sign of a relaxed hindsight and reliability beyond his years, or a complete lack of time sensitivity and effort, below par of that expected of an ASM.
The brutal truth is you either love him or hate him. He is very much a lads lad type of personality all said and done, with his looks openly displaying everything that he is and will be. When the heat really ramps up, he will however muck in where needed, offering an explosive boost to the team when he is personally asked to or in extreme cases, actually threatened. When accused or confronted he is first to attack in defense, preferring action to prove a point than mince words, which again does him little credit to those whom can’t mesh with his personality or proving worth to those needing to impress.
All in all, the section he runs is pretty autonomous, leading T.B. to do pretty well on the shop floor maintaining morale and helping with general tasks whilst not actually dipping his toes in too deep to put in much serious effort. An everyday rota that suits his casual attitude pretty well to his standards. If anyone needs a good half an hour or “banter” he’ll find a spot for you to relax away from prying eyes under the guise of “giving orders.” Hey, it keeps people happy, right?
Likes include: Punk, punk rock, rock, music and the like, booze and/or energy drinks, dirty talk and/or smack talk, smoking cigs, lads nights out, payday
dislikes: running out of money, maths and paperwork, being made to work when he cannot be bothered, music he doesn’t like, the cold seasons, children and/or smug parents, bosses coming around
Emma speaks: My boi... my first OC... he has gone through a lot of personality changes and although he is still an ass I will forever love him as my first boi... no art atm as he appears later in the story but I have drawn him all spoilery before so hey ho I’ll get to it eventually lmao

TELL ME EVERYTHING ABOUT YOUR OCS
HO BOI well let me start off with the #retail story and often #my art has a lot of my stuff in it regardng OCs. My art blog has some too.
The images below are from this post but I haven’t a dedicated OC summary page yet (I’m still making loads of them bdjsndsh
T.B (Teabaggy) is my oldest OC , almost the very first I ever made a decade ago. A demon fire weilding punk, lazy af. Kevin has two incarnations, my pathfinder character and my original story version, both differ in personalities but I love them both. Pathfinder came last year and really kickstarted my recent OC madness, Xiphias being my first PF character (RIP) and Kevin surviving as the second. (melody is my third pF character but she’s not in this original work) Dave is Kevin’s BFF in pathfinder but I wanna redesign him for retail story.
Damian was a doodle guy from my previous job and is my “worksona” and thus narrator in my plans.Chuck is based off of some unused old FNAF SL plans and totally not a rOBOT NOPE. Ash is inspired by my actual friend also named Ash, though not the same person. Others are just worked from things i liked in the past or from old doodles I never ever used…
I’ve gone on a bit here though, so I will consider setting up proper character bios at some point as I complete a whole bunch of work on them. I have done a bunch of concept work on my OC Ween - the eyeball dude - today so I am… trying eeep
But basically I could talk for years on my pathfinder dudes and esp Kevin like damn man…. damn
#my own characters#i will set up a new tag and character bios methinks#would help me find stuff too ngl#thanks for asking and inspiring me to sort this out!#ask#ask me#Anonymous

OK so I realised that my first proper OC I made in school is probably 10 years old this year???? This is Teabaggy, a character made from Gaiaonline during my school life - the name was from “Explosive Teabag” account name, which I then naively discovered is a video game move involving teabagging with grenades. SO I uh, made him Teabaggy instead. Being a teenager is to live with regret.
REGRET - heavy personal development and personal stuff under the cut:
This OC was used as a learning tool, and I would like to say right now before you read more, that I do not do these things in my character designs and development anymore. I am writing this all down as a helpful example to other young artists or writers on how NOT to create a character, but also how to learn from your mistakes. Thank you.
I threw out the vast majority of my school drawings so I only have two of the first few drawings from 08 of him. I have a lot of mixed emotions about his origins as a design and character. The reason why is being on gaiaonline I used the avatar as a “joke” - I clad a male entirely in pink clothes but “wasn’t gay” to prove my own point. But then when RPing “as a joke” I made him gay with their OCs, drawing kissing, in drag etc - which isn’t funny as sexuality isn’t a joke. My drawings are peppered with this toxic trope and I am glad to be rid of it by learning how ignorant I was. “Ha ha I’m not gay he says as he makes out with a guy and dresses in drag” was how I viewed sexuality. I thankfully learned that this was homophobic and no longer use this trope.
Sadly people then THOUGHT I was a guy and in my naivity, I went along with it, feeling good in letting people think “there are good guys out there” when I really wasn’t that gender. When people started tryng to get pictures of me irl and wanna talk to “male” me as more than a friend i realised I was catfishing, so quit the account immediately and dropped his entire personality. I learnt a lot from that experience and if anyone ever finds this tumblr and recognises the art from gaiaonline: I AM DEEPLY SORRY AND I ACCEPT IT WAS A BAD THING TO DO.
My biggest drawing splurge was around 2010 when I started joining devianart OC tournaments to pass the time after leaving school, but Teabaggy was the most outgoing of what very few OCs I had prior to 2015 so I revamped him for that purpose... but as usual I rushed them and didn’t use references. It shows. I didn’t get past round 1 and deservedly so. But I got photoshop around then and I got to practice traditional lineart so... not an entire waste. I still use my fav pen from making those pics!
((I HAD BEEN STUDYING RACISM AND THE CIVIL RIGHTS OF THE US IN SCHOOL AND THOUGHT A RACIST CHARACTER WOULD BE “FUNNY” - AGAIN DO. NOT. WRITE. YOUR. CHARACTERS. LIKE. THIS. If they are racist, make them having a reason to think like that and write in the impact of their belief - I learned a LOT from this writing mistake -!!!!))
I then stopped drawing regularly from 2012 until late 2015, so there is no Teabaggy popping up until I brought him back this year.
I have always used him as my avatar in avatar creation games, and he, looking back, has been the sort of “tester” character for learning mistakes and practice, which is why I have mixed feelings about him. I am glad I made him an asshole, I am glad i made him flawed, but i do not like the way I went about it, but I know now in hindsight WHY they were mistakes because of it. I can drop the “gay jokes” and the “I hate furry/racist” undertones because you do not them to make a fully fleshed out character. I can make him a selfish prick without trying to make him a gimmick. Sigh. I hope people learn from this.
The first thing to sort out is his 90s boy band bangs and install a quiff at the front to even out his face. And you know, don’t be lazy on his dESIGN AND ANATOMY. I am drawing him for an ask reply and for the retail story - T.B. “Teabaggy” is going to be a manager (somewhere) where his philosophy is “How quickly can it be done, does it involve any effort from me and how much is the pay rise for doing it”
Happy birthday, you complicated pink bastard.

It took a lot from me to post about my life growing up with school OC Teabaggy, but I wanted to share it because you know what; I am proud I learned how wrong I was to project flawed ideas onto him, because now I will never do it without establishing a proper reason to.
My Pathfinder character Melody is an actual racist to orcs, something I have researched into how to play and RP fluidly and earnestly. There is no “joking” about it: Melody/I back up our statement with what they believe and our characters argues and debates in game with other characters over it (especially with the half orc - yikes-) so we develop very quickly and intensely because of it. I do not condone with the thought of “orcs (or anyone) are inferior by nature and design” but I can write and play it because I do not treat it as a “joke” anymore. There is a reason why she believes it, horrifically flawed as it is.
By learning how wrong i was about online avatar use and homophobic stereotypes, I have now made it my mission to create well developed personalities at the forefront instead of using sexuality as a “personality trait”.
It is OK to make mistakes as long as you acknowledge why and how to improve. Do the best for your characters and yourself! try out new things and points of view yes but use hindsight and experience to pull yourself back where you need to.
Thanks for reading.
