Have you read DCeased? If so what do you think about Damian in it? I'm curious what you think about Damian in DCeased: Hope At Worlds End
I read the first DCeased book, Hope at World's End and the start of the next book (can't remember the name) but then fell off because I was mostly reading it for Damian and he didn't do anything of note for several issues. I eventually read the last issue because Damian played an important role in the finale.
I remember really liking the first DCeased book, but that was also probably because at the time the only other book that had Damian as a regular character was the Glass/Thompson Teen Titans run which screwed him over at every turn to turn him into a villain for DC's planned 5G era. So most Damian fans were simply happy to have a book that had Damian as a hero and spending time with not-aged-up Jon Kent again.
After that...it had it's moments, but honestly I think Taylor made (especially adult) Damian way too boring. I felt like Taylor did what he often does, which is to flatten characters to give the readers moments that make them go "awwww" which can become old very fast. It was nice to see Damian be a good Batman for a change, but it's not a characterization I want to see bleed over into main continuity.
The ending made me tear up a little. We really don't get Damian managing to save the day (mostly) on his own a lot in comics and also, my favorite character died a heroic death.
But I recognize that it required writing other characters as a lot less competent to give Damian this solo achievement. Batman privileges are a thing no matter who is wearing the cowl as long as they are supposed to be the legitimate Batman it seems.
