#Taxi Driver is both very simple to understand and very complicated in how it is made in the best possible way

I just made my own post instead of dumping this on a reblog bc it's not a big deal but....when did Martin Scorcese become a stand-in for "guy who makes gangster movies" or "film-bro pretentious?"
Most of Scorcese's films are not about gangsters. Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Cape Fear, New York New York, The King of Comedy, The Age of Innocence, and in fact pretty much every major Scorcese film that most people have seen that isn't Goodfellas or The Departed...is not a film about gangsters. (Mean Streets is great but it's a deeper cut). Gangs of New York, I think you could put in that category, but it's also a historical period piece and not the Goncharov'd/Godfather'd aesthetic that you would associate with a "gangster movie." Oh, I forgot The Irishman, but come on, that one only came out a few years ago and I know none of y'all watched it or remembered it unless you were a huge film nerd. I didn't even get into it.
When did Scorcese, of all people, become the stand-in for "filmmaker people assume is pretentious?" Was it when he said everything correctly wrong with Marvel films? Or on this site maybe Goncharov effect?
EDIT: I also totally forgot about The Departed, which I guess from one point of view is a "gangster film" (or really, a crime film). I distinguish between films like Goodfellas or The Godfather which are what most people think of as "gangster films" in that they focus on the perspective of people in organized crime vs "cops vs robber" films like Heat which usually include the perspective of law enforcement and The Departed is the later, but that's splitting hairs. It's a crime film, sure, and also a thriller.
#Scorcese has always been extremely populist in his sensibilities#it took him decades to win an Oscar for directing because of it#contrast to Christopher Nolan who is also someone who is very populist and it took him what 15 years to win Best Director compared to#Scorcese having to wait from 1973 to 2010?#I don't think most of y'all have seen a Scorcese film if you only think he does gangster films and think he is more *pretentious* than he i#except I have come to hate the word *pretentious* because online it has come to mean *likes things that are better written than a Marvel*#Taxi Driver is both very simple to understand and very complicated in how it is made in the best possible way#edit: actually I did the math and if we are counting from the start of the Batman trilogy (when Nolan went from indie to mainstream) then#18 years not 15 but close enough#granted the Oscars were also more likely to go for blockbusters pre-Weinstein (Rocky beat Network Star Wars AND Taxi Driver for Best Pictur#Network should have won even though Taxi Driver is my favorite out of those nomineees personally)#but even in THAT era Scorcese was not enough which is why I find it funny that people who haven't sat through a Scorcese films think he is#The Pretentious Film Guy probably because of his MILD and btw CORRECT comment about Marvel films taking over cinema that was more about the#impact on the industry than the quality of the films#but then again we would not have gotten the bonkers glory that was Goncharov if not for it#like I know the person who made the poster likes Scorcese but if it weren't the fact I'm pretty sure most people who were Gonch blogging#didn't know what one of his films would actually look like then Goncharov would not have been so fun and batshit crazy and silly so no#complaints. but yeah I feel like even the most obnoxious film bros I know don't see Scorcese in that light#like chose someone French New Wave if you want to pick someone famous enough to be recognizable but someone you'd associate with snobs#(fairly or otherwise). like not that he deserves it either but Jean-Luc Godard is right there

Princess Grace Talks About Life in the PalaceÂ
How she manages the children and the Monegasque Red CrossÂ
By JOHN BAINBRIDGEÂ
"Here, you don't just rush by the little things in life, the very things that make daily living more enjoyable, that make it less monotonous.''Â
HER Serene Highness Princess Grace of Monaco (nee Grace Kelly of Philadelphia) has been, after the Duchess of Windsor, by far the best known American living abroad ever since her marriage in 1956 to Prince Rainier III, ruler of the ancient Mediterranean principality that comprises three hundred and seventy acres, or half the area of New York's Central Park. Although there have been occasional snide remarks in the gossip columns about the movie star turned princess, the consensus of well-informed people is that she has handled her role as the leading lady of Monaco with dignity, style, and industry.Â
"Grace works very hard." I was told by a mutual friend, the wife of an American couple who live in Europe. "In the first place, she went to work and learned to speak almost perfect French. She is also a very good mother. She takes the kids with her everywhere. When she and Rainier came to visit us last year, she brought them along. They are fine children.Â
"She handles all of her official duties with aplomb, giving receptions and doing all those things, and she also works very hard for Monegasque Red Cross. This is considerably different from the typical Red Cross activity in American suburban communities. In Monaco, just about all of the social service organizations are wrapped up in this one organization the Red Cross. Furthermore, I think that many of the international events that are now held in Monaco to generate publicity and stimulate tourism were Grace's ideas, although she has never mentioned anything of the kind herself. Finally, I believe it is a very successful marriage. She has to be given some credit for that, too, doesn't she?"Â
Through correspondence, I had arranged an interview with Princess Grace at five o'clock one afternoon in mid-December. I took a taxi from my hotel to the Palace, which dates from 1215 and overlooks Monte Carlo, and en route followed the old journalistic custom of trying to sound out the local temper by striking up a conversation with the driver. He complained, naturally, about the traffic. He said there are 25,000 people in Monaco and 12,000 automobiles. He had a few sharp words for Aristotle Onassis, then a very large property owner in Monaco, for opposing Prince Rainier's plans for developing the local economy.
But when I asked about Princess Grace, the driver smiled. "Is good princess," he said. "First year, we didn't know - real princess or Hollywood princess? Now we know she is real princess. Is good mother. For Monaco people, that is everything. Is also hard worker Red Cross, old people, orphans. French people, Italian people still say, 'Ah, Hollywood princess.' They just jealous of Monaco people, because Monaco people pay no taxes. We know she is real princess."
Arriving at the Palace, I alighted in front of an archway, on either side of which a soldier smartly turned out in a light blue helmet, black tunic, white belt, red-striped trousers, and white spats stood before a peppermint-striped red-and-white sentry box. An officer, whose uniform was made even more resplendent with an abundance of peppermint braid, appeared and saluted, and, upon learning the purpose of my mission, escorted me through the side gate into a small reception room. There, a man with the appearance and manner of a reservations clerk at the Ritz telephoned the Princess' secretary that I had arrived. A few minutes later, a footman came to the reception room, and escorted me across the cobbled courtyard to the small private suite in the west wing of the Palace, where the Prince and Princess live with their family.Â
I was met at the door by an American woman named Mrs. Dale (her husband, I learned later, is employed by the Prince in a business capacity), who said that the Princess would arrive directly, and showed me into the sitting room.Â
Although I was aware of the way the Princess is properly addressed ("Your Highness" initially and "Ma'am" thereafter), I don't recall having used either form, because, from the minute she walked into the room, shook hands, and apologized for being late, until I left, nearly two hours later, she created an atmosphere so pleasant and unaffected that formal terms of address would have seemed out of place. She was wearing a handsome suit in a soft brown shade, a single strand of pearls, and a large pearl ring. She was carrying a pair of light-colored, bone-rimmed glasses, which she toyed with at times while talking but never put on. Maturity has, if anything, enhanced her beauty. Her complexion is magnificent, her eyes are arresting, and her voice is dulcet, adding interest even to her inconsequential remarks. Most engaging is her manner, which combines elegance with an easy casualness - a quality that has no doubt gone far in winning acceptance as a "real princess" by the people of Monaco.Â
After Mrs. Dale had left I asked what aspects of living in Europe she had found most enjoyable.Â
"One thing I enjoy is that people here take the time to live in a pleasant way," she replied. "They are not as rushed, not as hurried, as they are in the United States. For example, there is the midday meal, which the family takes together. This is a custom that I think is very pleasant. It is one part of taking the time to enjoy the days. Of course, this manner of living can also be carried too far and become annoying. It is really not too hard to change one's ways and become as lazy and indolent as any Mediterranean.Â
"A strong sense of values is another thing that one perceives here. In Monaco, there still exists a respect for authority. This is so important, particularly for young people. On television, in pictures, and in books there is so much effort expended in trying to be funny or clever, which often has the effect of actually tearing down the important qualities that young people should hang onto. It seems to be the case that young people who are in search of truth and reality are afraid to admit that something old can be something of value. I was just reading an article in which Margaret Chase Smith said that the word, 'square,' has become outmoded. It used to be one of the most respected words in our vocabulary. We talked about the 'square deal' and the 'square shooter,' and they were honored words. She said that nowadays the person who seems to get the attention and applause is the one who plays the angles. What we need today, she said, are more square people, more people who are dependable in the old-fashioned way.Â
"Another difference is that in Europe there is more emphasis on manners. This has its good points and its bad points, but I think on the whole more good than bad. People here are generally more polite, and the children tend to follow that lead. I'm always appalled when I see parents intimidated by their children, and I must say that I see that quite often when I go to the United States. If I say something about the discipline in our household, they say, 'Can you do that?' Now, really. Parents do have to take a stand. They have to put their foot down. So far, we've been very fortunate with our children. So far, so good. But, of course, they're not teen-agers yet. It is a problem with teen-agers everywhere. But how a teen-ager behaves depends very much on how he behaved before he was a teen-ager. People who are indulgent, overly indulgent, with babies often say, 'Oh, he's just a baby.' Babies, one finds, understand quite a lot.Â
The subject of help having been brought up, I asked the Princess how many servants she has.Â
"If you mean the number who run the Palace, it would be over a hundred," she replied. "That includes the Prince's Cabinet, secretaries, a governor who overlooks the Palace, a Regisseur, who is a kind of general manager, gardeners, personal staff, electricians, a curator of archives and his assistant, a woman who does bookbinding, a housekeeper, a man who is restoring paintings, upholsterers, carpenters, painters, and probably a few more. In our personal household there are a major-domo, three butlers, five footmen, my husband's valet, my personal maid, the women who wash and sew, a chef, and an assistant chef.Â
"Both the chef and his assistant are French, so we have mostly French cooking, along with many Italian dishes. We also have American dishes that I tell the chef about now and again. I have a collection of cookbooks, and I give him American recipes out of them. One thing he did recently, for the first time, was a pumpkin pie. And he bakes American cakes now, too. They're quite different from European cakes, you know."
I asked if there were any aspects of American life - the pumpkin pie and cake situation being well in hand - that she did miss.Â
"One misses American efficiency, I think, more than anything else." she said. "The French - and i wouldnât be surprised if it were true of Europeans generally - have a way of complicating things that should be relatively simple. One does miss that fine American custom of saying, 'Of course, it can be done. Why not?'
"As for the things that I do like here, I must say that one is the custom of having babies at home instead of in a hospital. Perhaps it is less hygienic, but itâs much more pleasant. Even if one has a baby in the hospital, the husband and others in the family can see the baby and hold it. That practice of keeping the baby away from the father, behind a sheet of glass, is so impersonal. As for the baby, to come from the mother's womb and almost immediately be placed in a room full of screaming infants - I'm not at all sure that that is a good practice. I feel sure that the system here is much better."Â
A butler came into the room to deliver a message, and after he had left, I asked the Princess if she had retained her United States citzenship.Â
"Yes, I have," she replied. "On marrying the Prince, I became Monegasque. As I have never renounced my U. S. citizenship, I have dual citizenship. So do my children. Our son will, of course, have to renounce his United States citizenship. I would like to keep mine, because I am very proud of it and sentimental about it, too. If ever there were any political problem connected with my retaining it, I would, of course, give it up.Â
"You know, I find myself admiring American traits and characteristics, often without being aware that they are American. I try to incorporate these traits into my children's upbringing. For example, the hospitality for which Americans are so well known. People here are not hospitable in that way. You can know a Frenchman for twenty years, and never be invited to his home. He will entertain you very handsomely at a restaurant, but you won't see the inside of his house. To an American, this is very strange."Â
At this point, a door to the sitting room was pushed open by a small, gray poodle that entered and proceeded to prance back and forth in front of the lounge, barking.Â
"That's my daughter's poodle," the Princess said. "It goes through this routine every night. It means that the children are not far behind." They presently arrived, accompanied by two young women who were apparently governesses. After the children had greeted their mother and had been introduced to me, they continued into the dining room, where they and the governesses carried on what sounded like a lively conversation while having their dinner.Â
Princess Grace had spoken to the children in English, and I asked if that was customary.Â
"Yes, I always speak to them in English," she said. "They have an English nurse. But they are completely bilingual. Their school is conducted in French, so they read and write better in French than in English.Â
"We have lunch with the children at least two or three times during the week, and always on weekends. We breakfast with them every morning, and we lunch with them on Thursdays and on Sundays and on any other day when they are free of schoolwork.Â
"The children here are in school until five in the afternoon, which makes a very long day for them. Our daughter is being educated at a convent. Our son studies at home with two little friends who come in. One day he has gym in the afternoon, and on Thursdays, he takes football lessons. In French schools, I think, the sports program is insufficient. The emphasis on sports may be carried too far in American schools, but there must be a happy medium. Here, there are not as many team sports, and I think that is unfortunate. It is so important for a child to learn to play on a team, to learn teamwork. Learning to get along with the other fellow - that's basic in life today."Â
Getting back to Monaco, I asked the Princess if she would tell me something about her official duties. "As president of the Red Cross, I supervise all sections and departments," she said. "We have a secretary as well as heads of the various services, but I see or review every case treated.Â
"I am also interested in a committee that is preserving or trying to preserve some of the landmarks and other historic sites of Monaco. Some of the new architecture is far out of keeping with the original style here, and some of the original, I feel, should be maintained. Unfortunately, there are not a great many people here who are of the same opinion.Â
"In addition, there are the musical events, the ballet, and a variety of other affairs. We try to group the official events in November, December, and January. Lots of congresses and international groups meet here, and many are received in the Palace. Other duties are presented from time to time. When we celebrated the centenary of Monte Carlo, I organized the committee that carried out that program. Incidentally, I have never been inside the Casino. There is a ruling that no Monegasque can go there, but I could, of course, if I wished. However, it is the custom that nobody in our family does.Â
"As far as the daily schedule is concerned, the morning is largely taken up with matters pertaining to the running of the household and with the mail. The afternoons are largely devoted to Red Cross work and to the other interests and activities I've mentioned.Â
"So there is something to do every minute - and more. I mean, I never sit around and say, 'I wonder what to do.'"

Chapter 5 - Can You Answer Your Phone
Taehyung x Reader - Fluff/Angst/Future Smut - 2.2k words
A/N - Hello! I really hope those of you that have found this little story are enjoying it, thank you so much for the likes and follows, Iâm only a little blog and I still donât really know what Iâm doing with it, so it really means a lot!!
Chapter One ~ Two ~ Three ~ Four ~ Five ~ Six ~ Seven ~ Eight ~ Nine ~ Ten ~ Eleven ~ Twelve ~ Thirteen ~ Fourteen ~ Fifteen ~ Sixteen ~ Seventeen ~ Eighteen ~ Nineteen ~ Twenty ~ Twenty-One ~ Twenty-Two
Taehyungâs note lay on the floor by the side of the sofa, apparently unread. Reaching down to retrieve it, he sighed heavily as he saw your name in his handwriting. Jimin tried to comfort him, mainly by attempting to encourage him to see reason. It had been fun spilling the details to him, just like two normal friends their age might, and the younger of the two could tell his excitement was becoming contagious throughout breakfast, as they both anticipated Jimin meeting you.
But you had gone now, god knows where, and all he knew about you was your first name. Realistically last night's meeting would just end up being one of those chance encounters that one â or both â of you may think about occasionally, once alcohol had taken effect or if sleep was elusive. Jimin was only asking questions that would make complete sense to anyone else. How close could you have really gotten in the space of a few hours, exchanging a few simple sentences? Taehyung had agreed with him that the loss he felt was irrational, but the entire situation with you was, and he felt it deeply nonetheless.
âI canât explain it well, Jimin.â He had paced up and down the room for five or so minutes after Seong-min had left to arrange transport to the shoot location for their second day of filming. Finally ceasing his restless movement, he sat by the window and rested his elbows on the small glass table there. âShe had absolutely no idea who I was and it didnât matter. The only reason she wanted to be here was because of me,â and possibly to distract yourself from whatever had occurred with 'Mark', but he quickly shook that thought away, not wanting to sully the memory of your encounter. Also because he hadnât necessarily divulged that element of the story to his dark-haired friend, and he was unsure whether or not he intended to.
âWhy is that such a surprise to you Taehyung-ah?" He asked softly from his standing position by the door. It was widely acknowledged by anyone they encountered that Taehyung was unreasonably good-looking, but it wasnât the fact that you found him attractive that was surprising to him. It was the look you gave him as he was tending to your leg, and when he brought you a change of clothes. Even when he had simply held the lift for you, a look of astonished gratitude shone from your face, as if no one had shown you the smallest of courtesies before. You had looked at him like he was your hero.
People were often dismissive of him, mostly contributed to by the persona he had ultimately adopted within the group. Before he had gone to Seoul he was the big brother, but as soon as the members were put together he was suddenly one of the youngest, and he fell in to the 'role' with ease. That wasnât to say that he wasnât silly and boisterous, and even he would admit that he thought in a very different way to everyone else. But he was often serious and introspective, and thought frequently about the direction his life was heading and the decisions he had made that led him down that path, and sometimes â only ever for the briefest of moments â considered if he had done the right thing by leaving his family in Daegu all those years ago.
He had grown up idolizing his father absolutely, and from the age he was old enough to understand that one day he would be a grown up and able to have a family of his own, he had wanted to be exactly like him when he had a wife and children. He wanted to look after them and protect them, and the possibility of having people who depended on him â although hypothetical people at this point â made his heart swell with longing whenever he thought about it.
In their frequent late night conversations, he and Jimin had often talked about the possibility of romance, and they had always concurred that for now it just wasnât something that wouldnât be fair on any party involved, such were the complications inherent of being an idol. But you didnât know about him being an idol. You had never seen him playing the fool on variety shows, or witnessed his aegyo on a broadcast. To you, he was simply a young man who had helped you, and he was ecstatic to have been able to play the role of saviour for you. Unless he could find you, he imagined it would be a very long time until he felt that way again.
~~~
You directed the taxi driver to the bar where you worked. It wouldnât be open yet, but Ronnie â your boss and pretty much your second father â lived in one of the two rooms above it. He would allow you to stay in the other room, having been unable to rent it out due to the unfavourable neighbourhood the bar was situated. Itâs usual occupant Hannah, Ronnieâs daughter and your best friend since practically birth, was away studying and wasnât due to return for almost a year.
As children, you and Hannah had gone around telling everyone you were sisters and you may as well have been, you had spent the majority of your childhood at their house, being taken care of by Ronnie. Your situation at home was â to put it delicately â troublesome, and it was something that Ronnie and your teachers spent a lot of time agonising over. In fact, it seemed that every adult in your life was deeply concerned about your well-being, with the only exception being your own parents.
You decided it would only be fair to let Ronnie know you were on the way, rather than turning up out of the blue and pounding on the fire exit at the back of the building until he woke up. You took a deep breath in an effort to ensure any evidence of tears had vanished from your voice, reluctant to cause him any undue concern, as he worried about you enough already. You plunged your hand in to the depths of your overnight bag to retrieve your phone, only to discover that it wasnât anywhere to be found. Dragging everything out of the bag frantically, the driver glanced at you through the rear-view mirror, observing your actions and instantly recognising the spastic movement of someone who had misplaced their handset. That coupled with the wide-eyed stare and muttered cursing, it was something he witnessed in the back of his car at least four times a day, and it often led to a higher fare as the passenger undoubtedly would need to go back and recover their most precious of possessions.
âDo you need to go back, sweetheart?â he asked, his fingers already poised above the indicator, ready to perform a u-turn.
It occurred to you that you hadnât actually had sight of your phone since before you had set off to the hotel yesterday, meaning it could be in any number of places you had been in the last 17 hours. You shook your head âI need to come back to get my car anyway, forget it.â
The thought crossed your mind that maybe you should seek out Taehyung on your return, but you quickly suppressed that urge. He was nowhere to be found when youâd woken up, and you still werenât entirely sure that the room had belonged to him anyway, given your bizarre and fraught wake up call.
You appeared to have over-romanticised your interactions with him. You admonished yourself for once again creating the beginnings of a fairy tale in your imagination. It was something Mark had often mocked you for, the fantasy land that had taken up residence in your head, and you suddenly felt embarrassed. How must you have looked to Taehyung, arguing with one man and almost immediately following another back to their room?
Then a laugh escaped you as you realised it didnât make one single bit of difference what he thought of you, it wasnât as if you were going to see him again, you probably werenât ever even going to cross his mind. This final realisation suddenly hit you like a punch in the gut. No matter how much you may have misread his intent, he still took care of you and provided you with a much needed refuge for the night.
Your conflicting thoughts, and your hangover, were causing your head to pound relentlessly and you felt relief overwhelming you as the taxi pulled up outside Ronnieâs bar. You knew that you would feel better as soon as you had one of his bear-hugs and heard the colourful swear words he would undoubtedly use to refer to Mark.
âIs it okay if I stay here for a while Ronnie?â You asked as he placed a bottle of beer in front of you, your nose wrinkling at the smell and raising an eyebrow, shifting your eyes pointedly to the clock behind the bar.
âHair of the dog,â he cited seriously, as would a doctor prescribing antibiotics, before tipping his own bottle back.
âWhatâs your excuse then?â you asked, taking the smallest sip of the amber liquid, feeling your stomach roil in protest.
"Quality control,â he declared without missing a beat, âitâs a new crate.â He smiled warmly at you, pulling up a stool beside yours, placing a meaty hand on your shoulder. âYou are always welcome here y/n, I thought you knew that.â You returned his smile, your affection and gratitude for him causing your eyes to burn with fresh tears, your wobbly grin startling him. He placed his bottle on the high table and pulled you to his side, squishing your shoulders together as he squeezed you comfortingly. âWhat on earth has happened? Trouble in paradise, is it?â
He attempted to ask the question in a neutral tone, but he had never made a secret of his distaste for Mark, and the hopeful intonation at the end of his enquiry belied his concerned facial expression, the blatant fallacy causing a laugh to escape you. Leaving out any details of Taehyung, still wanting to keep that part of the night just for you â to enjoy the fantasy just a little while longer â you gave Ronnie the abridged version of events.
What followed was a stream of profanity so varied and creative that it was almost poetic, and it would have been funny were it not for the murderous look in Ronnieâs eyes. âWell who does he think he is then, godâs gift? I will throttle him when I see him, the useless bastard.â
You slid the remainder of your beer over to him and stood up to stand behind his seated form. You tucked your chin over his shoulder and wrapped your arms as far as you could around his waist. âIf you donât genuinely think he has done me the biggest favour by giving me a reason to leave then youâre lying to both of us.â
He turned in his seat and planted a kiss on your forehead. âHeâs given you a million reasons to leave these past four years, y/n.â He countered, his voice softer. âWhy didnât you call me?â
âWhat and spend my first night as a single woman giving a police statement after you throttle my ex-boyfriend?â you quipped, then remembered your lost phone. âCan I use the bar phone really quick?â You knew Ronnieâs phone would have been upstairs still, he had never really made use of the 'mobile' part of the deal.
He nodded his consent as he made his way to the cellar to bring more crates of the beer you had just been presented with. It passed itâs quality control testing then, you thought wryly, making a mental note to discuss Ronnieâs day drinking with Hannah on her return. You dialled your own number, tapping your foot impatiently, wondering if your battery had ran out. You listened as it rang and rang. You only hoped someone had handed it to reception, that you had dropped it in the restaurant or in the bar, or that housekeeping had found it. Your generic voicemail greeting clicked on and you sighed, placing the handset back in itâs cradle.
The bar phone rang loudly almost as soon as you had hung it up, making you jump a little. Hardly anyone ever rang the landline phone, with the exception of the partners of some of the more seasoned regulars, and never when the bar was closed.
Feeling a little like you were in the beginning of a 90âs slasher flick, you hesitantly reached towards the phone, raising it slowly to your ear. âHello?â
You heard a large intake of breath on the other end of the line and then a rich, deep voice. âHello...y/n?â
The instant elation you felt as you heard his voice was so overpowering you had to lean on the bar to stabilise yourself. âTaehyung?â
You heard a voice in the background, and you recognised it as being different from the man you had encountered when you initially woke up. âGeunyeo ya?â said the voice, followed by what sounded like a lot of shuffling and a small banging noise, and then a distant, âYa!â
When he said your name again in confirmation, you were assured that your interpretation of events between yourself and Taehyung were not a product of your imagination, and you were ecstatic to find that he sounded as relieved to hear your voice as you were to hear his.
Broken Happy Ever After / Jin x Reader
Overwhelmed by the sudden realization that this life was not as easy as it had first seemed, you choose to put an end to your marriage, despite loving Jin with all of your heart. However, heâs not going to let you go without a fight.
Pairing: Jin x Reader
Warnings: strong language, A N G S T, but also some fluff iâm not an absolute monster
Words: 6k.
Request: Hey! Could you do a scenario with Jin ? It's about him and his wife (the reader) ? A sasaeng aggressed her and she was so traumatized that she decided to divorce and start a new life, somewhere away from Seoul, but Jin kind of managed to make her stay ? (Angst) đ
Thank you for requesting this! I hope you enjoy! đ¤    Â
You havenât slept well on Sunday night, which is why this Monday was twice as difficult for you. Obviously, you regretted staying up so late, but once you went on Twitter you hadnât been able to stop scrolling. And soon enough, you found an entire hate account dedicated to you.
You knew Jin didnât like it when you read the hate messages some people sent you and usually, you stayed clear of them but that night you just couldnât. Curiosity got the best of you and you werenât in control of your actions when it was 2am, so you clicked on the account and for the next two hours proceeded to torture yourself by reading the hateful tweets that were apparently submitted by different people.
You knew Jin had fans who werenât particularly fond of you. After you two got married, the number of such fans decreased, but there still were some. Or so you thought. That night you found a whole new world of people who hated you with passion.
This realization hit you so hard that even after you managed to go to bed and feel the warmth of Jinâs body next to yours, you still couldnât close your eyes, every single hateful tweet replaying in your head over and over.
When you woke up that Monday morning, Jin was already gone but he left you a post-it note on the pillow on his side of the bed like he usually did. Smiling for the first time in nearly twelve hours, you picked up the note to read it.
âGood morning, my beautiful wife (Iâll never get tired of calling you that). Have a great day. Canât wait to see you in the evening. Love you. Your husband (Jin).â
You chuckled at the last part of the note. Just this simple gesture - a note that he probably wrote at the last minute before leaving - managed to make the pain, that you felt the whole night, go away in a matter of seconds.
You carried on with your day then, not even feeling the exhaustion of the sleepless night youâve had.
Work was difficult that day. It seemed as though everyone wanted the impossible from you and then got angry at you for not delivering it. You felt like you were going crazy and you couldnât wait to go home.
And then your car broke down. You couldnât even drive out of the parking lot of your office. Annoyed, you called the service to pick the car up. At first, you thought youâd wait for them to come, hoping for a lift, but then you realized youâd freeze if you stood in one spot, waiting. And despite it being cold, it was a beautiful night. So, feeling like you could use the twenty-minute walk from your office to your house, you decided not to wait any longer and deal with your car tomorrow.
Just as you started to walk, your phone began to ring. Before picking it up, you noticed that it was your travel agent calling.
âYeah?â you picked up, a little surprised.
âHello, Y/n, itâs Mina. Iâm afraid thereâs been some complications with your trip,â she said, making your stomach sink. âCan I explain and offer some alternatives?â
Your and Jinâs first anniversary was coming up and ever since the wedding, the two of you have been dreaming about a trip to New Zealand, which is why you decided to surprise Jin with tickets to Auckland as an anniversary gift.
âYes, please. Whatâs wrong?â you asked, already feeling like this Monday was the worst one youâve had in a while.
âYou see, the airline that we were using has bankrupted andââ
Suddenly, you heard two female voices behind you and stopped listening to what Mina was saying on the phone.
âSheâs probably on the phone with some guy.â
âKnowing how big of a slut she is, I wouldnât be surprised if she was on her way to meet some guy right now.â
âPoor Jin. I canât believe that he doesnât see through her.â
You stopped breathing when you realized that those two girls were really talking about you. Clutching the phone to your ear tighter, you decided to speed up and hope they will just walk away.
ââwhich is why I think itâd be best to postpone the trip,â Mina concluded on the other end of the phone.
âWait, postpone it?â you suddenly asked. âI canât postpone it. The trip was supposed to be a gift. Is there any other alternative?â
âUh, let me check,â Mina said and you heard her start clicking buttons on her keyboard.
Meanwhile, the two girls behind you were getting louder, indicating that they were now closer to you.
âI kind of want to talk to her, you know? Like, tell her how much of a worthless bitch she is to her face.â
âGood idea! Maybe sheâll finally understand that she doesnât deserve Jin.â
Your heart was in your throat when you heard the sound of running. Suddenly, you saw one girl on each side of you. You tried to calm your breathing and avoid panicking.
âActually, Mina,â you interrupted the travel agent. âNowâs not a very good time, Iâm on my way home from work. Can I call you back in just a few minutes?â
âSure,â Mina replied and you hung up the phone instantly.
Carefully, you slid the phone into the pocket of your coat and turned to look at the girl on your right.
âCan I help you?â you asked her, trying to keep your tone neutral.
âYeah,â the girl answered. âWhy donât you just fucking die, bitch?â
Your heart hammered in your chest as the other girl laughed at this.
âSeriously,â the girl on your left started. âWho the fuck do you think you are, always acting like youâre so much better than everyone else? You think just because you managed to seduce Jin, now youâre the queen of the whole fucking world?â
âIâm sorry,â you said. âBut I really have to go.â
âOh, thatâs cool,â the first girl said. âWeâll walk with you. Get to know each other. Bond a little. Do you mind?â
âActuallyââ
âOf course she minds, Hanna,â Girl #2 interrupted you. âSheâs too good for us, remember?â
âLook,â you stopped walking and turned to look at them both. âIâm sorry you feel that way. I really am. But I have stuff to do and I need to be on my way.â
âOh, so weâre bothering you,â the first girl, Hanna, said as she took a step closer to you. âDonât you think thatâs kind of hypocritical, considering youâve been a pain in our asses for the past⌠how many years was it? Four? Five?â
You almost corrected her by saying that itâs been six years â not four or five â since you met Jin but chose to stay quiet, so as to not add more fuel to the already blazing fire.
âI hope you know youâre a huge fucking bitch,â the second girl added. You tried to start walking again but they blocked your way. âAnd thereâs not a single person in the world that loves you.â
âCan I please justââ you tried, only to be interrupted again.
âDie? Yes! About time you do that!â Hanna snapped.
Afraid of their close proximity, you tried to unlock your phone without getting it out of your pocket so you could call the police if things escalated.
âWeâd help you with that,â the other girl said. âBut we donât want to get our hands dirty. Iâm sure thereâs someone else whoâll do it for us, though.â
You werenât breathing anymore, afraid that if you moved a single muscle, theyâll do something far worse than just harass you with words.
âScared all of a sudden?â Hanna said, noticing that youâve been frozen in your spot. âGood. Itâs time for you to understand your place. Youâre nothing. You hear me?â
You stayed quiet as you watched her walk even closer to you and stop centimeters away from your face.
âFucking answer me, you slut!â she yelled into your face.
You closed your eyes but stayed quiet, not being able to get a word out due to paralyzing fear.
âNow sheâs going to pretend we donât exist to her,â you heard the other girls voice.
âFucking bitch,â Hanna added and then â despite not seeing her do it â you felt her spit on you, her saliva landing on your scarf, right below your face.
You flinched in horror as you opened your eyes and managed to see both of them laugh loudly and walk away from you, giving you the middle finger while you still stood in the same spot, unable to believe that this actually happened.
When you finally managed to walk again, you chose to call a cab, fearing another similar encounter.
The taxi driver picked you up in five minutes and he tried to make small-talk with you the entire ride to your house but you stayed quiet, only nodding or shaking your head politely.
Once you finally got home, you could tell that Jin was already there because you saw the light in the kitchen from outside, and because once you entered, incredible smells â that partially soothed your shaken up heart â greeted your senses right away.
âYouâre finally back!â Jin exclaimed when he heard you lock the door. âDid work hold you back tonight?â
You saw your husband exit the kitchen and walk down the hallway to give you a kiss on the cheek. The sight of him in his favorite red apron always made you smile lovingly, but you didnât even notice if the apron was on today.
âY/n,â he said, after having pulled away from you. âAre you okay? You look really⌠weird.â
âIâmâŚâ you started but then stopped, not knowing if you should be telling him what just happened. And if you should, then how? âCan we talk?â
âTalk? What happened?â Jin asked, suddenly alarmed. âOh, God, if youâre breaking up with me over something stupid that I did, then please donât. I swear I didnât mean it. Itâs because of the phone charger of yours that I broke, isnât it? Iâll buy you a new one, I promiseââ
âJin,â you stopped his seemingly endless tirade. âItâs not that. And by the way, I didnât know about the charger.â
âOh,â Jin swallowed. âForget it then. Letâs go to the kitchen. Iâm almost done with dinner.â
You nodded and followed him to the kitchen. As he finished preparing the meal, you slowly told him about arguably the worst Monday of your life. He listened patiently while you talked about the stress of work, the anxiety of your car breaking down, and the utter fear of the two girls who harassed you.
âAnd youâre sure they were fans?â Jin asked once you were done.
That was not the question you were expecting from him.
You shrugged your shoulders. âIt seemed so. They mentioned your name multiple times.â
Jin sighed. âNo, but see, ARMYs donât do that. Theyâre not⌠theyâre not like that.â
âOkay,â you chose to agree with it, never wanting to stand in the way of him and his fanbase. âSo they werenât fans. They were just obsessed with you.â
Jin bit his lip as he thought about this.
Seeing how difficult it was for him to find the right thing to say, you chose to speak instead.
âLook, Iâm not telling you this because I want you to do something about it because I understand that thereâs nothing to be done,â you said. âI just donât want to keep secrets from you.â
âNo, I get it,â Jin nodded. âI just find it hard to believe that someone would actually do this. I mean, it sounds ridiculous. Are you sure they werenât just talking to each other and you sort ofââ
âJin, they spit on me,â you said with wide eyes, not being able to believe that he was doubting your story. âThey literally blocked my way, yelled at me, and then spit on me. Iâm pretty sure I didnât imagine that.â
âOkay, okay,â Jin said in a voice that showed you he wanted you to calm down and that riled you up even more. âI understand. Iâm just saying that maybe thereâs a logical explanation whyââ
âA logical explanation?!â your voice was visibly raised now. âSince when is harassing strangers on the street logical?!â
âWellâŚâ
âAre you... actually trying to justify their actions right now?â you asked, staring at him in disbelief.
âNo, honey, of course not,â Jin told you in a soft voice. âIâm sorry this happened to you. I guess Iâm just trying to find a way to explain this because it makes no sense.â
âYouâre damn right it doesnât!â you shouted. âBut that doesnât mean it needs an explanation. Those girls freaked me out. Iâm not asking you to hunt them down and get them arrestedââ
âWell, what are you asking me for, then?â Jin interrupted you, his voice louder, too. âDo you want me to apologize to you for their actions? Fine! Iâm sorry they claim to hate you!â
âThey donâtâthey fucking threatened to kill me, Jin!â you have lost all patience right now and groaned as ran your hand through your hair. âI donât care about the hate I get, okay? I mean, of course, I care, it makes me sad, but it doesnât make me scared for my life. These girls said, and Iâm quoting, that theyâre sure thereâs a person whoâll kill me, so they wonât have to get their âhands dirty.ââ
âMaybe theyâre children, they donât know what theyâreââ
âThey looked my age!â you countered before he could even finish. âAnd sure, maybe they canât suffocate me with their bare hands but thereâs guns, Jin. And lots of other weapons.â
âGuns?â Jin raised his eyebrows. âDonât you think thatâs a little extreme?â
âItâs not extrâokay. Iâm done,â you said, turning around to exit the kitchen. âI donât want to talk about this with you anymore. Iâm going to bed.â
âY/n, come onââ
âDonât. I want to be alone.â
And Jin made this wish come true.
He only knocked on your bedroom door when it was time to go to sleep and by this time, you had already fallen asleep and he didnât want to wake you, so he just quietly got into bed next to you. He stared at your sleeping features for hours, soundlessly apologizing for not being there for you.
When you woke up the next morning, Jin was gone again. The memories of your fight last night flooded your brain as soon as you saw the empty space beside you. You felt bad about not making up last night, but also youâd be lying if you said his indifference to the attack didnât hurt you.
Jinâs post-it note was on the pillow again and with a racing heart, you reached out to pick it up.
âGood morning, love of my life. Iâm so sorry for everything I said last night. I wish I could apologize to you out loud but you look so beautiful when you sleep, I donât want to wake you. Call me when you wake up, please? I love you so much. Kisses, your husband.â
You could barely read the last few sentences due to him using smaller letters so the whole text would fit into the note.
Not wasting any time, you picked up your phone, calling Jin immediately.
And you stayed on the phone with him for two hours. You were already in your office by the time you finished the phone call â actually, you only finished the phone call because your boss was giving you angry looks and tapping her wristwatch to show you that it was time to get back to work. Jin claimed she was just jealous of your love and that made you laugh, cheering you up even more.
You had high hopes for today. Jin promised to pick you up and take you to a restaurant to make up for the fight and you werenât going to say no. Also, you finally rescheduled the flight to Auckland, and you thought the dinner with Jin was the perfect place to announce the trip.
Once you finished work, you exited the building to see Jin already waiting for you with the biggest grin on his face.
âThereâs my wife!â he yelled loudly, despite standing ten feet from you.
You laughed as you approached him and allowed him to hug you tightly as if he hasnât seen you in forever. Then, he opened the passenger door for you and jogged around the car to sit behind the wheel.
The trip to the restaurant was filled with light-hearted banter and Jinâs favorite dad-jokes that somehow never failed to make you laugh (both of you thought this was why you fit so well together).
The entire dinner was just as fantastic. Jin was a gentleman and you kept teasing him about it but he said he just wanted to show you how much he loved you. And he successfully did that. You were smiling all throughout dinner, not even thinking about anything that caused you pain the previous day. The news that you had booked a trip to New Zealand for your anniversary seemed to remove the smallest traces of last nightâs fight that there could have been left. Jin basically picked you up and spun you around in the middle of the restaurant, after you told him about the trip.
 A few hours later, before heading home from the restaurant, Jin stopped by the bathroom and you stayed in your seat to finish your dessert.
Suddenly, right as you were about to put the last spoonful of cake into your mouth, someone dragged your chair back. Confused, you raised your head to see a girl, staring at you.
âExcuse me?â you asked, awkwardly watching as she released the back of your chair and walked around to face you.
A few people from nearby tables have turned to look at what was happening and you started to realize that this girl was not good news. Besides smelling like she just finished drinking the entire bar of the restaurant, she also looked like she was about to snap your neck in half.
âCan I help you?â you asked her quietly, already looking around for security to notice this encounter, but none of them seemed to think that the girl in front of you was dangerous.
âActually, yeah, Y/n. You can,â the girl said and right as you were about to stand up and walk out of here before any drama could start, she extended her hand and placed it on the back of your chair, above your shoulder, pushing you backward harshly.
You fell back with your chair, groaning when your back hit the floor and going dizzy for a moment from the impact. You heard the people around you gasp and put their cutlery down.
The fear you felt when you saw the girl climb on top of you and roughly throw you off the chair so you were lying on your back on the floor, was evident in your eyes, and that seemed to fuel her.
âI want you to fucking die, you stupid bitch,â the girl screamed as she grabbed your hair and pulled at it with all of her might.
You screamed in pain and tried to kick her off of you, but she proved to be a lot heavier than you were.
âDonât fucking fight me,â she snapped at you, suddenly releasing your hair and standing up from you. âYouâre the most disgusting thing Iâve ever seen. Iâm going to fucking kill you for what youâve done. You thought youâd just get away with marrying Jin? You thought everything would be over? Well, guess fucking what. Now itâs time you get what you deserve.â
Right as she said those words, she kicked you in the thigh. As you yelled in pain and rolled over to your side to grab your hurting leg, she kicked you in the back, knocking your breath out of you.
You heard her yell something but no more kicks came. You couldnât see anything because your tears have blurred your vision but based on the other voices, you assumed someone pulled your attacker away from you.
The pain in your back was so severe that you couldnât stand up and you were breathing in quick shallow breaths, feeling your lungs ache with every intake of air.
âY/n,â you heard Jinâs voice. âY/n, baby, can you look at me?â
You tried to roll onto your back but this movement caused you even more pain, so you just shook your head, while you tried to control your tears.
âShould we call an ambulance, sir?â a different voice asked.
âYes, please,â Jin answered him and you felt his hand touch your shoulder. âCan you sit up, love? Is anything broken?â
âI c-canât br-breathe,â you managed to whisper.
âBaby, just hold on,â Jin said, his voice full of concern. âThe ambulance is on their way, okay? And Iâm right here. Youâre safe now.â
You wanted to tell him that you werenât safe. That youâd never be safe. But you couldnât. You couldnât talk at all, not to mention breathing. Your entire body ached but most of all, you felt so unexplainably broken that you just wanted to disappear.
The ambulance arrived at the restaurant ten minutes later and by then, you had already managed to sit up and breathe with the help of a yoga instructor who â by a lucky coincidence â was having dinner in the same restaurant.
The police were next to arrive. They arrested your attacker and took Jinâs contacts so he could press charges later.
Jin accompanied you to the hospital, not releasing your hand the whole way there. You still werenât talking and the doctors put an oxygen mask on you so you wouldnât pass out from the lack of air your lungs were receiving.
Forensic medicine examiners looked at your injuries and wrote everything down, already preparing for the court process since they had no doubt youâd sue your attacker.
Luckily, no serious damage was done. Your lungs werenât punctured, so you resulted in a few bruises on your leg that caused it to swell up slightly, and a large bruise on your back from where the girl had kicked you.
However, due to the fact that you still couldnât breathe properly, the doctors wanted to keep you in the hospital, but you just wanted to go home, so they had no choice but to let you go.
Once Jin helped you lie down in your bed at home, the panic youâve been feeling ever since the attack sort of subsided. You felt really exhausted but you were too shaken up to sleep. The doctors had prescribed you sleeping pills but you didnât feel like taking them, especially not after you took so many pills to relieve the pain.
âWould you like some water? Tea?â Jin asked but you shook your head both times. âCan I do anything else for you, baby? Tell me anything.â
âNothing,â you said. âI donât want anything.â
âAre you feeling any better?â
âWell, kind of. I took a lot of pills.â
âNo, I mean⌠emotionally,â Jin said awkwardly.
You werenât sure how to explain what you were feeling.
âIâm afraid to feel anything,â you admitted finally. âI thought last night would be the last time someone harassed me on the street. But then the same thing happened tonight and⌠God knows how many more times it might happen again.â
âWait⌠you think these two attacks are related?â
You stared at him, dumbfounded. âI thought thatâs obvious.â
âW-Why do you think the attack today is related to the one yesterday?â Jin asked.
âBecause both of these people were your fans?â you answered in a sarcastic tone.
âN-no,â Jin shook his head. âI told you, my fans would never do this.â
âOkay, Jin. You love your fans. I get it. But I donât know what else to call the people who love you so much that they think itâs okay to attempt to kill me.â
âTheyâwait. She just pushed you, she didnâtââ
âShe just pushed me?â you frowned. âI canât believe you actually said that.â
âNo, Iâm just saying that she didnât try to kill you, she justââ
âShe literally said âIâm going to fucking kill youâ to me, Jin,â you told him, unable to believe that you two were having the same argument for the second time in a row.
âRight butââ
âYou finish this sentence, Jin, and I swear to God, Iâm not sleeping in the same bed with you,â you told him with a dead serious expression. âI canât believe youâre defending a person who just attempted to beat me to death in the middle of a public restaurant.â
âBaby, youâre going through a lot of emotions right now. Iâm not defending anyone,â he insisted.
âOh, youâre not? Then why do I keep hearing you make excuses for her?â you asked, angrily. âI donât care if this girl worships you, as long as her way of proving her love to you, is by abusing others. Do you hear me? I wonât tolerate violence and I would appreciate it if you didnât either.â
âI donât tolerate violence,â he said, looking down. âIâm just trying to tell you that maybe it wasnât as bad as you imagined it.â
You sat on the bed, unable to breathe and think clearly because of the injuries you just suffered and here he was, the person that you were supposed to trust with your life, telling you that maybe your injuries werenât that bad.
âLeave,â you told him. âGet out. Right now.â
âW-what?â Jin looked at you with a scared face.
âYou heard me. I donât want to look at you right now. Get the hell out, Jin.â
âY/nââ
âFucking leave, Jin!â you lost control suddenly.
Jin, scared of your outburst, got up from the bed and approached the door of the bedroom slowly. He turned back to look at you and saw you hug your knees closer to your chest while you hid your face from him.
He knew you were crying. But he also knew it was best to leave you alone when you asked him to. So he did.
Sitting there, alone in your bedroom, youâve never felt more betrayed. You couldnât understand why Jin wasnât taking your side in this situation. You tried to think rationally and not play the victim but Jin clearly thought the attack wasnât serious, even though your mental well-being was probably damaged for the rest of your life.
Finally, after a tireless night that you spent crying softly into your pillow, youâve decided what youâll be doing next.
When Jin quietly entered your bedroom the next morning, he had expected to see you still asleep. He wasnât expecting to see your suitcase on the bed. He wasnât expecting to see you with your head stuck in your closet, throwing your clothes out, either
âY/n..?â he asked, confused. âWhat are you doing?â
âPacking,â you replied shortly.
âYes, I see that,â he said. âBut why?â
âIâm leaving.â
Jin felt his heart drop. âW-what? What do you mean? Where?â
âAnywhere.â
âWhat?â he entered the room and walked towards the closet, so he could see you. âY/n, what are you talking about? Where are you going? Why?â
You stopped packing for a moment. With a sigh, you turned to look at him.
âI canât stay here when it no longer feels as if weâre each otherâs main priority, Jin,â you told him. âLast few days showed me where your priorities truly are and I respect that. But I donât understand and Iâm no longer willing to question your logic. Iâm done.â
âD-done?â his voice started to shake.
âDone,â you repeated. âMaybe we shouldnât have gotten married.â
This was the final blow that forced his entire world to collapse around him.
âY/n, no. Donât say that. You canât say that. You know we love each other,â he said, desperately trying to get you to see.
âI thought so, too,â you said. âBut real challenges in life show how true that love is.â
âAnd now you think ours isnât true?â
You stayed quiet for a moment and then sighed again. âI donât know what to think.â
âWell, stop, then,â Jin asked, taking your hand into his. You wanted to pull it out of his grip but he just held onto it tighter. âY/n, please, letâs sit down. Letâs talk about this. I donât understand whatâs happening.â
âI donât understand whatâs happening, either!â you said, roughly pulling your hand out of his. âOne moment Iâm talking to my travel agent, planning a romantic getaway for our first anniversary and the next, Iâm being brutally beaten in a restaurant by obsessive fans, while you sit back and defend them!â
âIâŚâ Jin opened his mouth to speak but he was at a loss for words.
âI knew this wouldnât be easy,â you said. âYou told me that from the start. And I put up with a lot. A whole fucking lot, Jin. But Iâm not going to listen to you say that the attacks Iâve suffered werenât serious because they were. I wonât allow you to tell me otherwise.â
âIâm not!â Jin said, his eyes already filled with panicked tears. âI love you more than life, Y/n, and seeing you hurt broke my heart. I just canât believe there can exist such people who would purposefully want to cause so much harm.â
âWell, youâre living in a dream world, then, Jin. Because, newsflash: murderers are very real and, apparently, they live right here, under our noses.â
âOkay,â he nodded. âI was wrong. It was naĂŻve of me to think that weâd be safe from the hate of the world if we didnât believe it existed. Iâm sorry. Iâm so so sorry.â
You stayed quiet after this. You didnât know how to tell him that it was too late to apologize. You had already made up your mind to leave.
You got up from the bed to walk to your suitcase so you could finish packing.
Jin watched you move with sorrow in his eyes. âY/n, please donât go. I canât lose you. I canât.â
âAnd I canât stay,â you answered. âItâs breaking my heart, too. It feels like Iâm dying, Jin. But I just canât stay.â
Jin jumped from the bed and ran towards you, falling to his knees right in front of you.
âY/n, I swear, I wonât survive it if you leave me. Iâll do anything you want me to do. Please, just donât go,â he begged, hugging your knees and pulling you closer to him.
âJin, stop,â you said, trying to get out of his grip and nearly falling off because he was holding you so tight. âItâs too late. You canât do anything. I already know your point of viewââ
âNo, you donât. You donât know anything,â he continued, tears already rolling down his cheeks. âI called the police last night. Iâll be going over there today to press charges against that girl from the restaurant. And I want you to come with me so you could describe those girls from the street the other night. I want you to get a restraining order against them.â
You listened to this patiently, knowing that this was just a drop in the ocean.
âJin, thatâs just us against the world,â you said. âWe sue three people, thereâs three hundred more waiting. I just⌠I canât do this anymore. I canât stand the constant hate. The harassment. The death threats. Itâs just too much.â
âI know, baby, I know. Believe me. I see your pain, I do,â Jin said. âBut you told me I was worth it. You told me our relationship was worth it. What happened? Do you no longer love me?â
You fell to your knees, so you were his height, too.
âI love you with all of my heart, Jin,â you said. âBut Iâm not sure about what you feel.â
âWhat?â he gasped, suddenly offended. âYou donât think I love you? H-how can you say that? Youâre the most important person in my life! I thought I proved that multiple timesââ
âIn this case, words speak louder than actions. I donât doubt that you love me,â you explained. âBut Iâm not sure which place I take in your heart.â
âThere are no places! Youâre the only one!â
You turned your head away from him. âJinââ
âNo, Y/n, listen to me! I know that what I said last night, and the night before that sounded horrible. It wasnât right for me to say those things. I donât know what I was thinking,â he said. âBut you canât leave because of that. Letâs talk about it. Letâs work on this. I swear I take everything I said back. Iâll put every single person who looks at you the wrong way behind bars, just please, donât leave me.â
You tried to stand up, but Jin grabbed your hands, not allowing you to walk away from him.
âI canât, Jin,â you told him. âI need time. I need to think. To recover.â
âThink here. Iâll go. Iâll leave. I just need to know where you are. I need to know that youâre okay.â
You thought about it for a moment. You didnât want to kick him out of your shared house but you couldnât stay with him, either. And if the only way he was going to let you go is if he was the one who left, then you had to accept his terms.
âItâs not right, though,â you said. âIâm the one who wants to leaveââ
âNo, baby, I canât let you leave,â he shook his head, desperately trying to show you how much he regretted his previous actions, while tears poured out of his eyes. âStay here. Stay here as long as you want, okay? Take as much time as you need. Iâll⌠Iâll be someplace else. I wonât bother you, just⌠at the end of the day, please donât end this. Donât break my heart.â
Breaking his heart was never your intention. You loved him more than anything and the thought of hurting him, hurt you even more. But your mind was a mess and you needed to get yourself together.
So, you nodded, agreeing. âOkay.â
âOkay,â Jin nodded, too, standing up from the floor and helping you stand up as well. He wiped his tears away with the back of his hand and took a deep breath. âIâll go. Please, just⌠stay here. And call me when youâre ready to talk to me, okay?â
You nodded slowly.
âCan you just promise me one thing, though?â Jin asked before leaving.
âWhat is it?â
âNo matter what you decide to do,â he said, trying to stop the tears from coming back. âDonât leave without saying goodbye.â
7 Brands Who've Mastered Unique Value Proposition & How You Can Too
In a world filled with billions of people where everyone is connected, standing out as a business has become exceedingly important for any company that would like to succeed within their industry.
To that end, having a Unique Value Proposition has a couple of key benefits.
Most notably, it is to help your employees better understand what is expected of them and to help your audience better understand what they should expect from the business. This message should also be quickly received the moment someone lands on your website.
How to Figure Out What Your Brandsâs Uvp Should Be?
Well, the simplest answer would be to figure out who your target audience is and what new features your company brings to the table. The idea is you should be solving a pain point that your competitors have not been able to so far.
Unlike a slogan or catchphrase like Iâm Lovinâ it, for example, a UVP does more than simply act as an advertisement. It explains to the customer how the product can be used by them, whom the product is ideal for, and how it should be used. It will normally be an image accompanied by a heading and a block of text or bullet points.
According to research by CXL Institute, the longer your UVP is, the more information a customer will retain. If you have more services listed and have more space on your landing page dedicated to your UVP, a customer is more likely to read and remember what your brand is all about.
A good example of this in action is what Cyberchimps has done on one of their product landing pages to display their features-
Of course, this is easier said than done which is why we are going to talk about a few examples as well.
7 Companies That Nailed Their Unique Value Proposition
The most successful companies the world has offered up have had some of the most concrete UVPs. Let us talk about some of the best ones:
1. Stripe
Stripeâs simple yet effective headline gets the point across immediately. It has a robust payment system that any business can depend on no matter what their needs may be. The attention-grabbing statement leaves you with just enough information to keep you scrolling.
Once you keep moving down the page, you are met with relevant graphics and gifs that aid every word on your screen. A list of benefits such as easy-to-use APIS that show a developer Stripe is easy to work with or some of their impressive statistics such as the 135+ currencies and payment methods they support make you want to try Stripe out.
Their bulleted list of benefits also makes it super easy to scroll through what Stripe has to offer. Features like a fully customizable payments flow and a hosted payments page is what helps Stripe to show customers that they can trust them when it comes to payment processing.
Another smart move on the part of Stripe is they do not simply focus on the people who make money online and need to be paid but rather on the business having to use Stripe as their payment gateway. When compared to their largest competitor PayPal, Stripe is more attractive to businesses who are looking to add a gateway to their eCommerce website.
They talk about features like customizing payment flow or increased card acceptance which is much more comforting to hear than simply how easy it is for your customers to pay. In my opinion, this is the primary reason they are able to compete with a big brand like PayPal.
2. Uber
Amid multiple controversies such as the first class action lawsuit against Uber by 350,000 of its former drives filed in 2013 (which claimed that the company should treat them as employees rather than independent contractors) or the GQ incident from 2014, Uber has been far from the most loved app on the market.
Drivers and customers alike donât always agree with Uberâs policies but one thing the infamous app has done right is narrow down on a solid UVP. They targeted the pain point of every taxi-hailing, exhausted customer, and were rewarded because of that.
Uberâs easy-to-use app has numerous benefits worth pointing out:
You can call a driver to you (wherever that may be) in less than a minute.
You can call for a cab with no cash on you at all because there are tons of other payment options such as using your card or an eWallet.
Women feel a lot safer using this app because drivers are vetted and you can emergency call if something goes wrong.
This serves as a much more preferable option compared to your average ride with a cabbie that involves numerous pointing at signals or arguing about how the cost shot up.
Even when you visit the Uber ride options page, everything is clearly displayed. Each rideshare option is accompanied by a graphic and a quick description. Compared to their competitors like Lyft that offer very similar services, Uber comes up on top because they know exactly what they are delivering to their customers and do not bother beating around the bush.
3. Apple
Apple is facing the heat lately for the decision to drop the earphones and wall brick from future iPhone pieces sold or the ever-increasing price tag on their devices ( $999 for the iPhone 12 Pro) but I can bet you $999 that there are people lined up to buy that phone.
This is thanks to Appleâs Unique Value Proposition. It guarantees a sleek, sexy phone that boosts your status. No matter how many features Samsung adds to their phones and no matter how technologically superior they might make it, Apple sells itself as the poster boy for the sexy phone.
This is mirrored in their web design, their media statements, and the rarity at which they release new models as compared to their competitors. Apple has been successful at doing one thing- going past looking at a phone as a set of features and selling it as a lifestyle.
There is no doubt that Apple has unparalleled security software and some of the best features but all of that can be replicated- what they stand for cannot be.
4. Jetblue
No airline makes you feel like family quite like JetBlue does. If an airline could embody your funny uncle at Thanksgiving- Jetblue would be it. This airlineâs mission (bringing humanity back to air travel) pretty aptly defines what air travel is all about.
It is not all about the free Wi-Fi, endless snacks, or movies on the plane but rather about the customer experience that sets JetBlue apart. You will see this through their campaigns, their social media presence, and even through their employees. An encouraging environment for the team and a focus on keeping their employees happy can be partially credited for the great workforce JetBlue brings to the table.
One more example worth taking a look at- Their campaign, Flight Etiquette, was a creation of videos that consisted of hilarious short clips that touched upon annoying in-flight behavior that we have all had to deal with. Why was this awesome? Because it was honest about the not-so-great parts about flight travel too.
Instead of focusing simply on the good bits, these videos helped the bad bits become funny at the very least.
Another JetBlue trait is its ever-present Twitter team. They are constantly engaging with customers online, solving queries that have been posted to Twitter, and often reply in less than half an hour with a solution for problems as complicated as refunds and cancelations. Twitter is more than a way to update customers on discounts- it is their way to engage with customers.
According to HubSpot, Laurie Meacham, the Manager of Customer Commitment says âWe call ourselves a customer service company that happens to fly planes."
5. Brian White & Associates
So far we have talked about brands that are extremely well established and probably turning over millions in profit. Now, let us take a minute to talk about small businesses that want to stand out within their state or even their town.
Brain White & Associates, a company based in Houston, does this extremely well by focusing on not just the lawyers they bring to the table but the specialty they excel in. They mention it within their heading, the paragraph beneath it, and even the features as you scroll down their home page.
Simple graphics and a list of services make it easy for visiting customers to understand exactly what their next step should be and whether the service is right for them. In a field as complicated as law, most people find it confusing to find the right help. This site is a great example of people that help the website visitor from the very beginning by keeping things understandable.
6. Intuit
Intuit is an accounting powerhouse that offers various services to brands such as Quickbooks, TurboTax, and Mint (an app that makes sure you are never behind on bills by helping you track your budget). Each one of these, in their own way, makes life easier for businesses from a financial perspective.
Offering a multitude of services under the same umbrella helps customers associate Intuit with all things finance. They give customers the bonus of integrating two or more pieces of software together since both have been created by them.
This means if you use Quickbooks for your accounting needs and TurboTax to file your taxes, Intuit allows you to integrate both of these services and use them alongside each other.
That awesome feature helps them climb a few notches above their competitors. Another UVP that Quickbooks brings to the table is their free services such as filing on TurboTax for free. You will find the CTA (Call To Action) for this on their homepage.
Being a powerhouse of brands makes you a bit of a monopoly in your field which is the privilege Intuit enjoys.
7. Walmart
Walmart has made a name for itself as a supermarket that keeps costs in mind while serving you with the best products. In a lot of cases, its competitors may even be giving you the same deal but because of the reputation Walmart has with lower and middle-class shoppers, it more often than not wins the battle.
A visit to their website instantly shows you a list of discounts no matter what time of the year it is and a visit to their store will often involve loads of advertisements regarding new discounts. However, what makes Walmartâs UVP truly brilliant is not just its value for low income and middle-income customers but the fact that it still remains a general choice for everyone.
The benefits Walmart brings to the table when it comes to collection and features pulls in customers from every walk of life. Its smooth supply chain management helps the company move products to the customer quickly which keeps prices low. Other than this, Walmart does not compromise on quality.
It really is an easy formula- Walmart kept it simple, affordable, and up to standard.
Wrapping it up
No matter what industry you are in having a Unique Value Proposition to show your customers what you are all about is imperative when discovering yourself as a brand.
However, remember that things are constantly changing. Your customerâs wants, needs, and preferences are changing by the day. Vegan cheese may not have been relevant two decades ago but which supermarket does not have it now?
I would also highly suggest focusing on brand storytelling as your move forward in your journey. Stories are the only way a brand can foster a relationship with their customer. Whether that is through a great ad like the one Apple created The Underdogs or a real life story of how the companyâs creator fought to make the brand what it is today. Features and headlines are concise and clear. They are what our head needs but if you want to be remembered by your customers, consider giving them a good story.
Listening to your customers and being open to changes within your company is what is going to help you stay on top once you get there.
Mortalityâs A Funny Thing
The elderly woman looked up at the cowled figure before her. She had a tight expression on her face, and all 1.5 meters of her was dominated by the figure hanging in the robes before her.
She ran a hand through her close-cropped silver hair, and asked.
âWhatâs the mission?â
A moment of silence, thenâŚ
âSimple enough. Everything else already in place?â
Another pauseâŚ
âAre we EXPECTING complications?â
In lieu of a reply, the cowl began to fade into the background, and the woman opened her eyes in her sensible bed in her sensible room in a sensible part of a sensible town.
Well, duty called.
 Judi had been working for The Mortality Agency for most of her 82 years, and still didnât quite understand what they did. They guaranteed that people died as, when, and how they were supposed to; how the agency knew this information, however, was beyond Judi.
This mission should be simple - she never got anything too complex in her old age, after all - a young woman driving her mini will skid off the road, hit a lamppost and die within 5 minutes, before the paramedics arrive. She was mainly there to make certain no-one would try to interfere.
And people did try. Some people gifted with the sight or a bit of precognition would meddle in the affairs of The Mortality Agency, making everyoneâs life a bit more difficult (and in many cases, shorter).
Judi sighed. As much of a cliche as it was, she was getting too old for this. The Agency never told you when your time was, neither. Just stopped contacting you for a while and youâd drop dead.
 She nearly had a nervous breakdown in her thirties when she was forced to take some holiday time.
 Judi made her way through the rain-soaked streets by the light of the street lamps, carrying a little yellow umbrella and wrapped up in a blue anorak. She walked along for about an hour, reminiscing about previous, more exciting missions sheâd overseen - a royal assassination, a plague striking a hospital, a whole cult of precognitives who were hell-bent on avoiding the agency.
Those days were long behind her now.
 She came to the side of the dual carriageway, and waited. Sure enough, right on cue, there was the mini, and the woman behind the wheel would see her phone go off, and look down. In that split second, the car would skid on an unseen puddle and crash into a nearby lamppost. A tragedy, unknown to all except the Agency. Judi could see it so clearly in her head.
Wait.
Judi double checked her vision, both with and without the Sight. Something was amiss. What was it?
Frantically looking around, flicking between what should be and what was, Judiâs eyes narrowed on a black taxi about to pull out of the side.
 A black taxi that wasnât supposed to be there.
 Judi clambered over the fence of the dual carriageway, not fearing the oncoming traffic (today was not her day, that much she could be confident of), and strode up to the black taxi. Knocking on the window, she was there was only the driver - no passengers. As he gave her a gesture that would have shocked a woman of more scruples than Judi, she glanced at his eyes and saw. Saw the Sight.
 Damnit! Someone was going to interfere. For whatever reason, this man wanted to meddle in the affairs of the Agency!
 Judi climbed back over the nearby fence, and opened up her Agency Guide, and switched her Sight. She could salvage this. Black threads of fate spun before her eyes and beneath her fingers as she rapidly twitched the strands of the future to a more desired outcome.
His plan was to collide with the girl, giving her injuries but not lethal ones. That much she could see, and sheâd have to watch what she changed because the man with the sight - the damned meddler - could tell if anything too extreme changed and that could get messy. Multiple people with the sight meddling with fate causes a massive mess. Judi wryly smirked and thought of world war one.
 Hmm. His plan was tight, a knot of black threads spun around one another in an irritatingly complex way.
Good thing Judi took up knitting at the age of 16, and was never very good - she had plenty of experience at teasing out knots.
What if⌠this taxi ⌠(heâd stolen it, hadnât he? The taximanâs thread was longer than this, but intersected here, just for a moment. Another thing that shouldnât have occurred)... was overdue for an MOT⌠(Judiâs hands moved the taximanâs string a centimeter to the left at a pivotal point) ⌠and there was a slight fault ⌠(Judi removed a pair of tiny scissors from her pocket) ⌠with the accelerator? (With a defiant snip, which was completely masked by the sound of the rain, a thread was cut).
 The Guide slammed shut, and Judy watched the man in the taxi look around as if something odd had happened. Too late to try to figure that out, however, because a text had just been received in the mini coming down the road.
There it skid. The taxi began to accelerate
The mini head towards a lamppost. The taxi head towards the mini, and the driver took his foot off the accelerator.
The taxi and the mini were very close now, with the taxi showing no signs of slowing, speeding up if anything.
 There was a violent crashing sound, and silence.
 Strolling over to inspect her handiwork, Judi grinned down at the bleeding man who tried to meddle.
âI⌠I knew you were one of them agency bastardsâŚâ the man spat blood at her feet.
âWell dear, Mortalityâs a funny thing.â Was her only reply.
 Judi head off into the night, satisfied with another job well executed.
Father figure wanted. Inquire within.
My father was my first hero, the center of my world. I grew up in a quiet neighborhood in Brussels and, with my Dad around, there was no lack of adventure and exploration. He was a young Argentinean man who had evaded the 70's dictatorship in his country with just a one-month salary in his pocket, crossing an ocean by boat to build a new life and family in Europe; for him, fear was not a barrier. I remember being a toddler, seated on a small seat on the back of his bike, my small hands on the rails, one cheek against his soft sweater, the other feeling the wind blow, riding through the neighborhood, feeling both free and safe. Nothing could stop us. If it had been up to him, our childhood would have been only smiles. Instead, we had to learn early that life and people are complicated. Compliments of my mother who had the habit to love with hate those closest to her, communicating through violence, and changing personalities and moods without notice. At the time, I could not understand why my father wouldn't stand up to her and make her stop. Come adolescence, I distanced myself from both of them. At 19, I left home and started the road of adulthood, moving to Brazil on my own. Many times I would feel sad, lost, and lonely. Without someone to talk to, my heart would hurt with emptiness and sorrow. This pain convinced me I needed to see a cardiologist, which I did, making an appointment with the one closest to my apartment. The universe conspired so that this man, the cardiologist, was a generous and kind doctor who not only did not dismiss the ridiculous teenager I was but welcomed me every time I went to his office, assured me my heart was ok, and would ask me about my life, my worries, my fears. He often would make me laugh and always would give me sound advice. I wonder what he is doing today, my sweet cardiologist; I imagine him smiling, and I hope him happy. I still follow his advice to never watch "The Bridges of Madison", too sad he said. My years by myself in Brazil were cut short, and some years later, I found myself in Chicago, studying film, working during the day in retail, and meeting all kinds of people. Most of them bohemians, the best of them my dear friend Tim, whom we used to call "the man." We had a special bond, which I never fully understood but one I always fully embraced. He made me laugh, I was 23, and he was 40, but we both behaved as if we were 15. He taught me a lot about street life, hardship, hidden things, the black market, and such. He had studied musical composition and had beautiful hands. He loved to dress well and taught me what it meant to be dandy. Introduced me to psychedelics and the world of the foolishly silly. When I met him, he had been a taxi driver for seven years; he had a really old brown car and lived in a rented loft on Milwaukee Ave. It was the 90's. Wicker Park belonged to broke artists back then. He was starting a new illegal business venture, which over the years grew so much that his heart became dark and full of paranoia. After I left Chicago, I tried to stay in touch, but how do you stay in touch with someone that has to constantly change numbers? I will always love and miss who we were. It may sound odd to consider him one of my father figures, he certainly would hate it, but he was, in a way, fatherly. One can be, in many ways, fatherly to those we love. Throughout my travels, I always looked for one, consciously or unconsciously. The best my dear friend Omar; I met him too at 24; he was the older boyfriend of my beloved friend Roberto. I will never forget the first time I met him; Roberto brought him over to my apartment on Noble Street; it was nighttime, and he was very handsome, had a thin mustache, and a beige v-neck t-shirt. He was a simple man, yet there was something about him that always made him elegant. Today I know it was his kindness. Omar was from Colombia, an artist and shaman who over the years, became my closest friend. Saved my life, giving me shelter in his home at my worst moment, always generous with his time, ears, and heart. The years we lived and worked together will always be among my happiest. Unfortunately, the good go early, and he passed away two years ago. I think of him every day. I have not encountered another father figure since, and today I hold the hand of my actual father as he lays in a hospital bed, the shadow of who he was, living between the fear of dying and the lack of will to live. Uncertain of what is to come, I ask myself: what now? Who will give me shelter and guidance? The answer comes from the memories of those who have guided me in the past and is simple: No one. Everyone. Myself most of all.
 With love. Always.
100 Days of Trump, Day 38: Why Are You So Angry?
Welcome back to 100 Days of Trump, where I try to recommend 100 works to help us understand WTF happened in 2016, and it should be increasingly obvious that I donât actually plan these things out in advance because todayâs recommendation is actually a little bit behind all things considered.  I was hoping to move past the psychological state and into the âThe system itself which makes all of this possibleâ state, but I remembered this video series and I want to talk about it, so Innuendo Studios.  Its a video game channel that mostly talks about Indie Games and while all of that stuff is very cool and I recommend you check it out, I want to focus on his six part series on Gamergate called âWhy are you so angry?â Â
youtube
  Now Iâve said it before and I will say it again, to understand Trump you need to understand Gamergate and if it wasnât for Gamergate, I honestly donât think Trump would have gotten elected, within this bubble of internet gaming insanity we see the core of both Trumpâs popularity, and the way he was able to win.  And there is a lot to say about Gamergate, and a lot of it was covered in my earlier series talking about Assassins, or Taxi Driver, or The Wall, or Breaking Bad, or Panâs Labyrinth, or, Protagonist, or Rope, and above all the Social Network, all talking about the misdirected rage and optimistic nihilism that characterizes the Gamergate and by extension Trumpkin crowd (and really they are the same people).   So what does Innuendo Studios have to say which the earlier works donât already say?  Well, in his Why Are You So Angry series focuses on a specific sub set of the reactionary hate mob, not the guys who lead it, but the guys who serve as support for those who do, which he coins âAngry Jackâ
youtube
  Now I think it is important to understand that this video series isnât actually summing up the whole movement, and the Angry Jack is just one small part of a larger WTF puzzle, so donât take this video series as rite and go âOH well, I understands Gamergate/Trump Perfectlyâ not all of his supporters are Angry Jacks and Angry Jack are just one part of a larger system.  But when it comes to this particular subject, he is unto something.  The Ian Danskin posits that a core point of these movements is less malice than a form of ethical laziness, that sloth is the core sin of a lot of these reactionaries.  People like things to be simple and things to be self serving, its human, and when outside information challenges stuff, it is easier to double down than think critically.  To use a non political example, people who donât drink at parties, I donât drink by choice and a friend of mine doesnât drink because it makes her head hurt, and a third friend doesnât drink hard Liquor.  When ever we are at a party, despite having very different reasons for not drinking (and one of us actually liking alcohol) a lot of strangers will react really hostilely to any of use refusing a drink equally, and the ones who drink the most react the strongest.  Because they are assuming judgement to what is actually just personal preference.  I donât drink because I dislike drinking, I donât subscribe a moral value to it, but people who meet me seem to preemptively make me into some sort of prohibition era strawman, and it is doubly absurd for my friends whose choice comes from a place of âI donât want head achesâ and âI like this alcohol but not that alcoholâ.  Because the people who get so pissy are terrified of judging themselves, so they try to create environments where nobody might do so.
youtube
Now this video series isnât perfect, I do think his understanding of Christianity is ironically quite muddled and his belief of where this all stems from is frankly....dumb and juvenile, but look past that stuff and focus on his larger point, and you see why this is useful, a lot of this reactionary stuff is coming out of a sort of defense of oneâs internal state of ignorance, that these people think they have found the loophole to living a morally good life without doing any work for it.  Just donât notice whenever bad things happens, look away and pretend the problem doesnât exist.  And the progressive movement is challenging that, it is effectively acknowledging problems that everybody knows exist.  And in order to make everybody more comfortable with the situation, they lash out to create an environment where people donât have to think about these complicated issues.  Again, most people are lazy, cowardly, and stupid, and prefer it that way, anything that would make them not want to behave like that is legitimately scary if your goal in life is to be selfish and never have to be judged for it.  Even for the less debased, there is the question of difficulty, and people want simple solutions to problems even if those donât exist.  I wish I lived in a world where parents didnât sexually assault children, or if it happened it was done by creepy immediately evil people who I could call the police to instantly handle without any difficulties.  But I donât live in that world, I live in a world where it is extremely common and there arenât obvious solutions.  A lot of people prefer a fantasy of the first than the reality of the second. And this is why so many (but not all) reactionaries are weirdly positive towards the Civil Rights movements and the early feminist movements, because in their mind that was âWhen the bad thing endedâ. Â
  Small note, I donât like how Ian uses the term sociopath, and I think it is very silly, but move on, focus on the larger point.
youtube
  And this is why we need to understand the relationship between Angry Jack and the more open and direct reactionaries, because if you have encountered these people online, you notice that unlike the most dire hard Alt Rightists, they donât openly say the white nationalist/MRA/homophobic rhetoric, they insist it isnât there.  They tune Trump out when he says some things, and tune in for others, and when they interact with Neo Nazis, they pretend they canât see the obvious racist elements because they donât want to confront the reality that they are allied with them.  A lot of these vocal harassers online are internally terrified of confronting who they are or what they have become, and if they were ever in a circumstance where they could calm the fuck down, would be horrified by the people they call their allies.  But they donât want to face that, so they ignore it.  This is what Fox News and other groups like that do for these people, they give them an out.  Remember after that refugee child drowned and everybody briefly pretended they gave a shit about refugees and the Rightâs hypocrisy on the subject of human rights was coming to the forefront?  And then Fox turned it into a Refugee vs. Vet, when both groups are fucked over by their very policies?  It isnât suppose to make any sense, its suppose to be a life raft for the people who donât want to think hard about the fact they are abandoning children to die.  Or how about when Milo got caught advocating for the sexual abuse of children, and the Rightâs response was to bring up Roman Polanski as a âleft wing child rapistâ, nvm the fact that the left has been attacking Polanski for decades now particularly feminist circles.  Its a way to not think about the type of people they are allied with, for the average supporter think about this as an âUS vs. THEMâ argument rather than âHoly fuck, the guy I listened to thinks children should be raped...maybe all of the other things people said of him might be equally true....maybe this whole being cruel for the sake of humor thing is bullshit maybe the other side has a legitimate....oh wait, if I condemn Milo then THEY WIN and fuck THOSE PEOPLE (jews)â  So they march behind actual nazis, and as Hannah Arendt noted, once this all blows over, they will be out there saying they had nothing to do with it and that the Nazis tricked/forced them into participating in these crimes. Â
For the record, I would divide Gamergate into more than two groups, rather Nine see here for my thoughts. Â
youtube
What separates the Angry Jack from the Nihilist MRA people we see in Assassins and Breaking Bad is that Angry Jack really needs to see itself as morally correct and most importantly, normal. Â They might use rebel rhetoric but they donât see themselves that way, they identify themselves as just a dude, and really want to believe that feminism is nothing more than a few thousand rich college students or that the only white people who think racism is a problem are a couple dozen people who have been white guilt-ed into being puppets for the Black Panthers, they want to be the default, and are upset by the notion of having to accept a larger world. Â This is why the fact Clinton won the popular vote is so upsetting to these people, because they really want to believe that they are most of the country, that they are normal and are driving abnormal out of their larger political community, the alternative scares the shit out of them. Â And so much of this comes from my old enemy, simplistic easy morality, something which the left sadly has trouble with as well. Â Because the way we depict morality in so much of our fiction makes this mindset more powerful, it encourages the thought process that is so useful to the right. Â Because if our villains in works are nothing more than evil for its own sake, then we donât have to think complexly about them, we donât have to assume that their evil comes from a place and there are simple solutions to complicated problems. Â And the left should avoid this mentality as well.Â
Also how much of this battle is a fight for vindication, that these reactionaries are furious that society at large doesnât respect them and doesnât take their opinions seriously, and so they are screaming loud and more intensely out of the hope they will finally be recognized and respected for who they are...except that they arenât because they are crazy. This is why Trump supporters are so angry at the media, because they won, they managed to get the most powerful job in the world, and yet people are still calling Trump and by extension them horrible people....because they are. Â And that is why they want to get ride of the Media, because they hope that they can create a reality where nobody criticizes their ideals, which ironically always makes it worse. Â
  Finally since Tumblr only allows 5 videos per post, here is part 6, where Ian talks about how to deal with these problems  This comes off as a tad naive today but it still applies, and this is why it is so important to try to keep people around you from buying into simplistic narrative, particularly because seemingly innocuous  nonsense always gets co-opted by bigots and turn into a recruiting tool for the Alt Right.  That is why these guys are so horrified by the notion of progressive politics making people happy, they find the notion that bioware games have gay relationships terrifying because the moment they acknowledge that is good, they start to validate the progressive arguments and they donât want to go down that road.  Hey, has anybody had something they need to do but they keep putting it off, and you can kinda live with that until a friend says âHey werenât you suppose to turn into those papers?â and you find yourself getting suddenly mad at them?  Its that, because they donât want to face the shitty part of the world, and if left alone, they will concoct a little alternate reality where they donât have too, but they canât do it if people keep poking the bubble.   Remember, so much of this reactionary bullshit is coming from an emotional place of insecurity and is kinda pitiable if it wasn't for how many people they are hurting, and even as the left condemns and opposes them, we need to understand them, because otherwise we wonât be able to defeat them. And for all of their talk of how tough they are, they are remarkably thin skinned.  But this is the most important thing, keep up the fight and keep attacking their arguments and proving them wrong, because while it doesnât seem like you get any results, every time you do that, particularly when you conduct yourself in a more civil, mature, and above all intellectually honest way than your opponent, you keep a pupil form of an Angry Jack from joining up.  They donât say anything, they donât comment and say âThanks dude, your take down of that MRA made me reconsider my life choicesâ instead they take that comment and it sticks with them later in life, and it makes it that much harder for them to make a pact with Neo-Nazis.  And this is important, Gamergate and Trump seem inevitable now, but this is what matters,it took a lot of work for these movements to get started, /POL/ had been trying to get a Gamergate Going for at least three years before this one took off, and the Alt Right have been trying to get a trump going since the 1930s, it takes tremendous amount of effort to craft the sort of narrative to make this double think possible, and it took decades of work for them to make it this far.  And if the left hadnât gone with Hillary Clinton, it wouldnât have worked, by choosing somebody as bad as Clinton, it provided them with the psychological tools they needed to rationalize supporting Trump, which wontâ be true if we go with somebody with less of a dark past.  âThey go high, we go lowâ actually does work, its just that Clinton didnât go high, she stayed in the middle.  And the more pressure we keep up on them, the more their movement frays.  They seem powerful now, but this current state of affairs is on a very weak wedge, and it can come crashing down on them in an instant.  The only way they can keep this up is if we either give up, or support morally debased responses to them. Right to Pursue Compensation After a Car Accident
All car accidents are unpleasant and might be upsetting for anyone concerned. They can potentially leave prolonged damage, both psychological and physical. For all those involved and who feel that they are eligible for compensation it's important to have a simple process, not too difficult to understand which will advise with the procedures to take and at what point they need to take them.
1. The very first thing to remember is that you could possibly bring a claim for any injury suffered as a result of the car accident.
2. The accident needs to have been someone else's fault, otherwise you will not be eligible to pursue a claim.
3. All car drivers must be insured to be certain they are covered in the event of a car accident.
4. The most commonly encountered injuries are whiplash-type injuries which are the result of the neck being jolted backward and forward from the impact in the collision. However, any kind of accidental injuries experienced which are caused by an accident could be claimed for.
Who is able to make a claim? All those who have experienced injury because of a car accident that a third party was at fault could be eligible to make a claim. Therefore those who have been required to have time off work or who's sustained an injury from a car accident should seek independent advice concerning whether or not they should make a compensation claim and how to go about it successfully.
What you can do? First off, be certain that prior to commencing your trip you have the correct vehicle insurance. Assuming you do, in the event you are unfortunate enough to have an accident then try to keep calm. Often in these cases that there could be a conflict with the other person, and it can turn particularly heated as you both seek to state their case. It's hard to provide definitive advice about this type of scenario since everyone is unique, nonetheless as much as is possible try to keep as calm as you can.
What's more, don't apologise to the other party. It is common for people to apologise in such a situation simply because to many it is just a natural response even though the accident wasn't their own fault, yet it is best not to. If you have, understand that the other motorist will probably use this to tell their own insurance firm that you have admitted liability. In this particular situation, apologising would be to acknowledge responsibility that rear end accident settlement could commit your insurance provider to funding damages sustained to the third parties car.
Let's assume that the collision wasn't your responsibility, before starting a claim and getting in contact with your insurance provider, where possible make sure you have got all the details required regarding the collision and the other driver. Additional complications arise should the other motorist have no insurance (the Association of British Insurers estimates there are a million uninsured drivers on the nation's streets) or when they drive off without waiting to pass on details.
Car accident injury claims Getting in touch with a lawyer is crucial advice for anybody intending to engage in a claim resulting from a road accident.
The lawyer will help start the compensation claim without incurring unwarranted expenditure. They can help sort out the paperwork that is inevitably required at this point, to make it much more manageable and also make decision making a bit simpler than would otherwise be the case. The lawyer can also organise for a temporary car to be supplied while the victim's vehicle is under repair.
Many firms provide a "no win no fee" scheme so you can be reassured that the solicitor will do anything possible to try and obtain the most beneficial result for you. The solicitor's costs would be paid through the insurance company of the liable driver.
Normally you are eligible to damages for losses that are specifically attributable to the accident. Including a loss of income, damages to clothing along with all insurance cover excess. The victim can also claim for for use of a hire car while their car is off the road. As well as those costs the victim might also claim for the suffering and pain they have were forced to deal with, once again due to the car accident.
Additionally, any forthcoming losses which could have been affected by the accident and its repercussions could be claimed for when the collision is severe enough to mean absence from work, potential loss in advancement at work result. Damages may also be sought if the victim prior to this enjoyed taking part in sport or other sorts of activity and this pastime gets to be no longer achievable or becomes no longer pleasurable as a result of the discomfort involved.
Any kind of rear end accident settlement damages paid out will usually be split into general and special. Special damages are anything that is quantifiable. This means something that you can place an exact value on for instance medical costs or taxi costs both to and from a medical facility. Assuming the victim has retained receipts and also a full record of the transactions which can be related to the car accident then the settlement amount that is eventually received should include that value as special damages.
JACKSON, Miss. â The president is coming to Americaâs poorest, blackest state to open a civil rights museum on Saturday, and people in the neighborhoods surrounding that gleaming tribute to the past would rather have Donald Trump visit their present.
âItâs hostile now, more hostile than in a long, long time,â said Pete McElroy, who employs three men at the auto repair shop that has been his familyâs business for three generations. âPeople almost boast about it: âWe got our man in the White House, and this is the way the ballâs going to roll now.â â
Three miles from the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum, over rutted roads, past littered lots, abandoned houses, and shuttered plants and warehouses, McElroy, 69, and other black residents of this struggling capital city say that after nearly a year of the Trump presidency, they have a definitive answer to the question candidate Trump posed when he spoke at a rally in Jackson in August last year.
âWhat do you have to lose?â Trump asked, making a quixotic and ultimately failed bid for black votes to a nearly all-white crowd.
âWeâre losing a lot,â McElroy said here this week. âLosing Obamacare. Where are people going to go? Losing money. Heâs making the rich richer and the poor poorer. Mostly, weâre losing respect. No way you can evade that. The way he speaks, the racists feel like they can say anything they want to us.â
Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant (R) â an early and avid supporter of Trumpâs â had invited the president to attend the opening months ago, but few here thought he would actually come. Except for crises such as hurricanes and oil spills, no president had set foot in small, poor, reliably Republican Mississippi for more than a decade.
The Black Empowerment exhibit at the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum. (Carolyn Van Houten/The Washington Post)
Trumpâs down-to-the-wire decision to attend the opening seemed to change everything. Suddenly, the focus shifted from the elderly Mississippians who had stood up to police and merchants and employers to demand their rights half a century ago. The president with a knack for dominating conversation had succeeded again. In the local news, at beauty salons and auto repair shops, even in the halls of the new museum, the talk was now about Trump: Why was he coming? What would he say? Would celebration morph into protest and controversy?
[Trump should skip Civil Rights Museum opening, NAACP says]
On Thursday, Rep. John Lewis, the Georgia Democrat who is one of the last surviving leaders of the civil rights movement, canceled his commitment to give the keynote address at the opening. Lewis, who had refused to attend Trumpâs inauguration because he considered him an illegitimate president, joined with Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) in announcing that they will not attend because Trump is coming.
âPresident Trumpâs attendance and his hurtful policies are an insult to the people portrayed in this civil rights museum,â they said in a statement.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders called their decision âunfortunate,â adding that Trump âhopes others will join him in recognizing that the movement was about removing barriers and unifying Americans of all backgrounds.â
On the cusp of the divisive Senate election in neighboring Alabama, Trump has triggered a frenzy of preparation and trepidation. On Thursday, Secret Service agents and state and local police combed every corner of the downtown site where Trump will join aging veterans of the civil rights movement and local politicians for the opening of two museums â one on the stateâs history, the other a strikingly challenging look at the cruelties of race from the 1940s to the 1970s.
Along the streets of Jackson, even people who had no idea that a civil rights museum had just been built with $90Â million in state money knew that Trump was coming.
[In Mississippi, a racistâs rifle tells a chilling story. But will Trump overshadow it?]
âItâs okay heâs coming, but they should take him to the âhood,â said Quinton King, a 22-year-old mechanic at a tire shop on Martin Luther King Drive. âLet him see we living paycheck to paycheck, canât get no credit card. Itâs like theyâre trying to keep everything for themselves up there, and here, we ainât got nothing. Tell Trump to look around â houses abandoned, streets with holes, power lines hanging down in the street.â
King had not heard of any new museum in town. âNot really my style,â he said. And he saw no reason to learn about the people who had risked their lives to win him the right to vote and to live where he pleased. âWe didnât touch on any history real heavy in school,â King said. âIt was all about trying to get you to pass the exit test.â
But although there are no plans for Trump to see any of Jackson beyond the museum, even a quick breeze through its galleries will confront him with a view of American history more complicated than the simple message sent by his âMake America Great Againâ slogan.
âI Question America,â reads the banner over one of the museumâs galleries. A panel headlined âSavage Beatingâ depicts how police in the 1960s, âcharged with enforcing the law, instead often brutalized black Mississippians.â
The museum presents a searing catalogue of bombings, small daily terrors, grinding humiliations, and rousing odes to the power of community organizing. Five towering black monoliths list the names of those who were lynched â more than in any other state â along with the purported rationale for their deaths: âlawlessness,â even âmistaken identity.â
[Trump replies âMAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAINâ to tweet about his attacks on African American]
It is purposely a challenging view of a time that no one would want to go back to, said Katie Blount, director of the state Department of Archives and History, which built the museum. âYou canât understand anything about Mississippi or the nation today without understanding this history,â she said.
Mississippians are divided about whether Trump should have been invited to the opening. Some of his supporters, thrilled by news of a presidential visit, have announced plans to attend the opening, which has some veterans of the civil rights movement worrying that celebration might change into confrontation.
Marshall Ramsey, the cartoonist for the local newspaper, the Clarion-Ledger, tweeted his hope that Trump wonât say, as he did after the white-supremacist rally in Charlottesville in August, that âyou also had some very fine people on both sides.â
âItâs unfortunate that this president, who has created a climate of racial insensitivity and has embraced white supremacists, would choose to use this celebration of civil rights heroes as a photo op,â said Derrick Johnson, who recently moved from head of the Mississippi NAACP to the presidency of the national organization. âThereâs just profound disappointment and sadness that after all these years, Mississippi is finally recognizing the heroes of the movement and this president chooses to be a distraction and an affront.â
Some blacks in Jackson see the museum, however, not as a reconciliation but as another in a long series of slights. âI wonât ever set foot in it,â said Burrell Brooks, a taxi driver who views the museum as an effort by whites to excuse the crimes of the past and the inequalities of the present.
âItâs getting worse, not better, not just for black Americans but for poor whites, too,â Brooks said. âYou see the Confederate banner back up, the whole Confederate monuments thing. This country is going back to more segregation, and a museum makes people think thatâs all history, thatâs all fixed.â
[In feud with John Lewis, Donald Trump attacked âone of the most respected people in Americaâ]
The first thing many African Americans in Jackson mention about the museum is the admission price, which is $8. âThey charge us to see our own history,â Brooks said.
âDonât holler about Trump coming,â said Dorothy Benford, 75, a retired teacher who as a young college student worked with civil rights activists in Jackson. âLet him come. Maybe heâll learn something. If youâre going to holler, holler about the fee, making black people pay to see our own people kidnapped, hung, beaten, killed. Holler about what we have to lose â medical care, day care. Holler about the racist things people are saying about blacks that you did not hear before Trump.â
Former Mississippi governor Haley Barbour (R), one of the most fervent advocates for the civil rights museum, rejects the idea that Trump has unleashed a new era of racial confrontation. âI donât hear that,â he said. âThe vast majority of Mississippians â black, white, red or yellow â think our state has made as much progress or more than any other state in the last 50 years.â
Even if Trump hasnât exactly been a symbol of racial reconciliation, he said, âitâs good for our state that the president, whoever he is, is tipping his hat to Mississippi, coming here knowing that there are things in this museum that we do not want to see repeated. The purpose of this museum was to be honest, open, to be candid about things that were indefensible.â
Jacksonâs longest-serving city councilman, Kenneth Stokes, isnât buying that. He drives through his center-city ward and pronounces that he will never enter the museum. âItâs a statement of white control of history,â he said. âIn the blackest state in the United States of America, you donât have one black elected official statewide. Look at these houses, gutted, falling down, itâs like itâs a hundred years ago. How can you have a museum that says this is in the past? Itâs not a museum for poor black people, not if theyâre charging that high fee. Itâs for whites to make themselves feel better.â
[For Trump, fighting with athletes is a political sport]
Inside the museum, Blount, who is white, nods. She has heard these doubts many times, and she doesnât expect blacks who are skeptical about state power to embrace the museum right away. âWe are a state agency and so was the Sovereignty Commission,â which Mississippi created in 1956 to do battle with federal efforts to integrate schools and voting rolls. Only the reality of the museum can chip away at its criticsâ objections, she said.
The story must be told.
A harsh voice shouts, âGet off the sidewalk. Donât you know your place?â A visitor at the museum has crossed a line on the gallery floor, triggering a recorded reminder of the racial hierarchy that was codified in law and deed in Jim Crow Mississippi in the years before the civil rights movement.
Two miles away from the museum, as Priscilla Sterling recalled, a tense white man cornered her daughter on a street in Jackson. âWould you ever date a skinhead?â he asked, and itâs 2017 and she doesnât know what she can say.
âWhite men following me, intimidating my daughter â this is the craziest time Iâve ever seen,â said Sterling, 49, a Jackson resident and a cousin of Emmett Till, the 14-year-old black boy who was lynched in Mississippi in 1955Â after a white woman accused him of flirting with her at her familyâs grocery store.
âI used to say I could never have lived in the 1950s or â60s, that I couldnât have taken the pressure,â Sterling said. âNow itâs 2017 and Iâve had people follow me and threaten me with vitriol. Itâs vitriol like I never heard before Trump.â
Rant
Today I calle a store.. and was literally on hold for an HOUR because no one spoke enough English to know what I was asking for, or how to get done what I needed w/o transfering me back and forth, putting me on hold for LITERALLY half an hour, and twice, eventually disconnecting me w/no human interaction whatsoever. XP And all I needed.. was to find out IF they had a certain setting spray. SETTING SPRAY. Not that complicated.
And last week I had an experience w/Greyhound on the phone that left me feeling equally as frustrated. Apparently theyâve outsourced to the Philippines, and no one in their call center speaks enough English to understand âservice fee.â Â
Alllll this.. in UNACCEPTABLE. If Customer Service doesnât speak enough English to get the job done, THERE IS NO ACTUAL CUSTOMER SERVICE TAKING PLACE.
I don't mind dealing with someone with an accent (after all, we all come from somewhere else- unless we're Native American). And I donât mind if a person doesnât ahve perfect English. -I- donât speak perfect English, and I was born here. But I DO mind when someone doesn't have enough of a grasp on the English language that they can't understand what I'm saying. as someone with absolutely -no- accent at all, and theyâre supposedly working w/folks in the US. No, we may not have an official language,â but that doesnât mean that when a person walks into a local KFC, they expect the person behind the counter to speak Farsi, Swahili, or Inuit. The US, like it or not, is a largely English-based entity. Because we were colonized by English speakers. Itâs our unofficial, official laugnage. Itâs what people greet each other on the street with. Itâs how we answer the phone. Not with âBonjour!â or âMoshi Moshi!â But âhello!â  So whether in person or on the phone, if you don't speak enough English to do even the BASICS of your job, there is a biiiiig problem.Â
If I'm in a taxi and the driver doesn't understand "turn right up here," or I'm at a sandwich shop and the guy doesn't understand "I'd like 2 slices of provolone, please," that's an issue. And before you get all uppity about this being petty or trivial, please note that this issue can be a matter of personal safety for many. I ride paratransit and taxis frequently, and my basic, personal safety can be put in jeopardy if the driver of my vehicle doesn't speak adequate English. If they go to grab my elbow as I get out of the vehicle and I say "I've got it," they need to understand me so they don't grab me and push/pull me, causing me to fall & potentially injure myself. Or if weâre heading to the vehicle, they jaunt away leaving me alone to navigate dangerous terrain in the dark and ask âcan I please hold your arm?â or let out a plaintive âhello? Can you come help me, please..?â and they don't understand, again, I could get hurt. Literally, PHYSICALLY HURT. Or (and this is much scarier for folks like me), if I'm in that taxi and the driver doesn't understand "turn left at the light," then God knows -where- they might be taking me, inclined to leave me, how long it might take me to get home, or how much they may be charging me (or the paratransit company that sometimes uses their services) to get me home.  I've BEEN in cabs where they couldn't figure out where to go, even though both the GPS AND I were TELLING them how to get to my address- because they didn't speak enough English to understand me or the machine.  And I assure you, that is both extremely frustrating, and pretty damned scary. Last time it happened the guy wandered around w/me in the car around 11 at night, pulling into little alleys, parking in vacant lots and empty bank drive through lanes to do u-turns, get his bearings, nâ stop to figure out where he was nâ needed to go. And when youâre in the car with a stranger as a young woman, that shit is scary. (Nor would it have happened w/someone who might have been new/confused nâ not known their job well. At least an English speaking person would have been able to understand my directions, and that of the GPS.)
Beyond my paltry personal safety concerns, companies who hire non-English speakers are also setting their employees AND their customers up for failure (not to mention a world of frustration).  if I call Greyhound to get help with a partial refund that they TOLD me to call for back after my trip, it should not take me literally ELEVEN calls filled with numerous attemptsto get help, because no one on the previous call or department spoke enough English to understand what I need.  I got people who didn't understand how to put me on hold or transfer me (rather than hang up), I got people who didn't understand what I asked, and then couldn't understand "I'd like to speak to a supervisor please," etc.  And that's not okay.  Customers end up hanging up out of frustration which isn't polite OR productive, and CS folks probably have no idea why, because they don't speak enough English to grok the problem! And thatâs a waste of time and money for EVERYONE involved. The company loss money from customers who leave them, and the customers lose money from giving up on items, services, charges and other issues they canât gain access to & thus go addressed or uncompleted. People buy from OTHER cable companies. OTHER sandwich companies. OTHER clothiers. And bills go unpaid. Thatâs not okay.
And as a customer, I do my very, VERY best to be courteous and considerate to the folks on the other end of the line, no matter WHO they may be, so please donât accuse me of xenophobia, racism, etc. I make pains to be calm and polite to CS folks because I've been one myself, and my family has generations of service industry people in it. I know from years of personal experience what it's like to be behind the desk (or the phone) and have people treat you like garbage, or a non-person, forgetting that there's a -real- human being behind that phone- or that desk. I get it. So I make pains NEVER to be -that- person. Â
But if your customer service doesn't speak enough English to do even the BASIC TENANTS of their job, there's no -real- customer service happening.  You're essentially paying people to sit there and get nothing done, while your customers get ticked- or brushed- off. Customer or CSR, we ALL have our limits, and putting people who doesnât speak English in language-saturated jobs is like putting a VI person in a sight-dependant job. Iâve been there. It doesnât work, isnât fun for ANYBODY, and sets EVERYONE up for failure. Including your business. I shouldnât be put in a position to have to read smudged, 7pt font, just like someone who doesnât understand more than âhow can I help youâ should be put in a job where complex English phrases are used just to get through ONE call. Either way, the job isnât getting done well or efficiently, or happily. Â
But then.. I as an employee need to be honest w/myself and my boss, just like my boss must with himself, for the sake of his companyâs well-being.  If I canât read 12 point font in a sight-based job and tell someone I can, thatâs MY issue, âcause Iâve lied to my boss and made my problem theirs. But if I say I canât and a boss hires me anyway thinking I can fudge my way through âcause they canât be bothered to hire someone with the necessary skills, then thatâs an even BIGGER one. I donât expect my taxi driver to understand fancy terms like âforced perspectiveâ or be able to converse eloquently about poetry or plus-size fashion. Sure, I get that English is a complex as HELL language, but a person should be able to do the basics of what theyâre hired to do. So if Iâm not asking about complicated food additive ingredients like methyltriglycerodextro-something or other when I call about my cell phone bill, my expectation is that theyâll know enough about the job AND the language to get what I need done. That.. shouldnât be an unreasonable expectation. -Because we expect businesses to be competent in whatever arena weâre PAYING THEM to be proficient in. Iâm not gonna ask my sandwich maker to find my house, nor my taxi driver to make me a sandwich. And sure, new employees exist, and thereâs ALWAYS a learning curve- to EVERY job. I get that. But they donât grok phrases inherent within the realm of their job description, thatâs a problem. No matter the origin, employees NEED to be able to function within their job arenas. Because itâs what theyâre being PAID to do. And "Turn right." "I'm looking for an item in your store, with the title X & item number Y."  Or, worse comes to worse, "I'd like to talk to a supervisor." are not neuroscientific terms that fall directly within certain, specific job descriptions/arenas. Iâm not gonna call Greyhound asking to fix my bank bill, yanno? Most often these conversations are about pretty simple, relatable terms and needs. Sandwiches. Cable bills.  Makeup. Shoes. Bus tickets. A ride home. And if your employee canât comprehend the basic job phrases, thatâs a problem.
And please, please don't patronize people by arguing that nonsense about different native English speakers having different accents and dialects and thus, not being able to understand each other. Sure, I as a person w/no accent may not catch everything someone from South Carolina says, but if weâre at a lake and I hear something about a pole and fish, Iâm not gonna think they wanna take me skydiving.. yanno? If people around the world who speak Arabic, Spanish or French (some of the most widely spoken languages around the globe) can understand one another, regardless of country or dialect, then a person from Alabama should be able to understand a person in Boston- or vice versa. Sometimes it takes patience and time, and yes, sometimes there's a difference in colloquialisms, or ya might not understand eeeevvvery word, but if a person from Nebraska calls a person in Austin, TX, I'm pretty sure they're both gonna understand "I'd like to make an exchange," I need to refund a service fee" or "turn right here at the light, please." Because they have a COMMON LANGUAGE. Â
Iâm not saying it isnât hard to learn English. Iâm not saying it isnât admirable for folks from other countries to movie here and begin to make a new life, which includes learning a HUGELY complex new tongue.  What I AM saying is that it doesn't matter where you're from; the simple fact is, you can't do your job if you don't understand the basic phrases INTRINSIC to that job. Native English speaker or no.  And Iâm tired of having to pay the price because companies arenât willing or able to train their staff well, or hire well-prepared staff, capable of doing the jobs weâre both paying them to do. Â
Itâs more than just a sandwich. Or a cable bill. Or my electricity. Itâs my life.
Get the latest Flash Player Learn more about upgrading to an HTML5 browser Dear Friend, If you earned 10% on your money after just a few minutes work, how would you feel? Pretty happy I imagine. Well, Neil Murton was completely new to trading financial marketsâŚnot to mention forex training! Yet with my help he discovered a proven legal and honest way to bring in a fantastic percentage return on his capital after just a few minutes work. No, he didnât leave home. (Apart from going to a top London restaurant with his girlfriend to celebrate!) He wasnât selling anything. And he didnât gamble. In fact, he didnât even have to take off his dressing gown! Neil is not unique. For the past four years Iâve helped thousands of people to earn an impressive percentage return on their money using simple tried and tested forex training systems. It just so happens I teach people to use the forex market as a vehicle to make â in some cases â life changing amounts. Itâs simple, tried and tested, and has the potential to bring you eye-popping returns over a short period of time. Iâve also helped people like Chris, a freelance, photographer who said: âI recently made 4% on a trade that took 10 minutes to enter and just a few days to hit targetâ Or Lee, CEO of LKM Media, who told me this after his first forex training session as a client: âRobâs a first class trainer and very, very knowledgeable on the marketsâŚhe makes thing very clear and very simpleâ Or Ian, who runs his own PR company: ââŚI would recommend The Lazy Trader to anyone who wants to develop a winning approach to their tradingâ Youâll find more success stories from people just like you both on his page and on the website.. But first, let me ask you this: âWhat If You Could Make a 5 â 10% Return a Month From Our Forex TrainingâŚWould You Be Interested?â
Face it â if youâre like me, youâre probably very, very sceptical. Perhaps youâre thinking this is yet another âget rich quickâ scheme that promises the world but delivers nothing. Or simply yet another trading course with no results to back up the claims. So let me make this as transparent, open and honest as I possibly can. Itâs only fair you get all the facts you need to make up your own mind. Firstly, I would like to reassure you that this has nothing to do with MLM, selling physical goods from home, chain letters, gambling systems or a âbiz oppsâ. It is, in fact, a proven and respectable business that was once only the preserve of the elite banks and institutions. Thanks to technological advances, people just like you and I can potentially make vast sums from trading the currency markets (known as âForexâ). The great news is that you do not need big money to get involved, experience or skills. In fact, it can often be better to come completely fresh to this as we teach people how to make money from trading the currency markets in a very specific way. You can have unlimited access 24 hours a day 5 days a week! You can run it at home or anywhere in the world at your own pace, in your own time and completely on your terms: This is a completely legal, ethical and legitimate way to make money â one that regularly features in The Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, Business Week and The Economist. This does not mean that it is complicated to understand or tiresome to learn. It gets better. Through trading the forex market, we can make money from markets when they rise and fall. So this means that we can potentially make money and a great percentage return in a boom as well as a recession. Itâs 100% recession proof! How many other investments out there offer this two-way street? I cannot think of any. What if I told you that you can fantastic gains from trading but 92% of people who have-a-go do not bother to get the right forex training and therefore fail? You would be pretty worried, right? I donât blame you! But what if there was a way of making consistent profits from the forex market which mirrored what the winning minority did? Keep reading and you will discover. When I first started forex trading before forex training â I was no exception to the rule. I arrogantly thought that I could master the markets on my own, completely oblivious to how much easier it would have been and how much money I would have saved had I decided to get professional forex training. At the time, I did not seem to think so. Every trade I seemed to take lost me more and more money â and sanity! Certainly if you decided to learn to trade by yourself, you can expect to lose countless trades before youâre even on the road to success. I know, I was there. Boy, I will and Iâll shout from the rooftops that I was there with vengence! Itâs a proven fact that without the right forex training 92% of people who try and trade forex fail and wipe out their whole account within three months.I was no exception to the rule. After all, learning how to drive requires a driving instructor and experience behind the wheel and learning to swim requires a swimming instructor and a swimming pool. So therefore, is it fair to say that for a complete novice to conquer the markets from zilch and go from grappling about with pocket change to writing their own cheques would, at the very least, require some form of professional forex training? I didnât think so! I was wrong from the start â and then wrong again, and learned the hard way â from the school of knocks. I tried every money making âschemeâ under the sun from MLM to domain flipping and neither worked for me â but forex training then trading profitably did! That was then, this is now. Iâm Rob Colville â a fund level Forex trader who makes my money from trading only ten minutes a dayâŚand I want to show you how you can do exactly the same. The only thing that separates you from me is a few extra years doing what I am doing. Yes, I have tried pretty much every forex trading strategy on this planet from the various âget-rich-quickâ forex training course touted online â and yes, many of them are are complete and utter garbage. I just happened to stick at it through the darker days long enough to crack the code. My experience has let me discover what works and what does not. I do not want you to go through what I did to get consistently profitable. In fact, I wouldnât even wish it on my worse enemy! Iâm Just An Ordinary Guy Who Just Stuck With Trading Long Enough to Crack The Code
I donât claim to be anything special and this is not about me â but it has everything to do with my method which enables me to make a fulltime living working part time. Iâm not about to tell you to sign up to some high rolling, over inflated forex training course. Iâm not going to insult your intelligence by recommending a piece of âmagic-bulletâ software or robot which will magically triple your money over night. AndâŚIâm not some sort of self-proclaimed guru who has a âtoday onlyâ forex training offer. In fact, there is no reason why you should be excited about what I have to say but you have every reason to be excited about this: My trading practice, which took me 3 years to develop, enabling me to trade 10 â 20 minutes a day onlyâŚand how you too can benefit from it. For the rest of the day I am able to focus on my real passions and interests: In my case, writing, photography, travelling and helping others being just several of them. âŚand so can you! Yes, I used to be a freelance journalist â and this is something I still do for a bunch of national and international publications. And sure enough, I provide forex training and mentor people from all walks of life on how to trade profitably: Lawyers, accountants, teachers, doctors, taxi drivers, janitors, cooks â my students come in all different backgrounds but united in their desire to make their money work hard for them. But hereâs the kicker. Can I honestly say that trading financial markets really interests me that much? Hell no! But then, it does not really have to interest you â or âanyone â in order for you to make money from it. It just so happens to be a vehicle I leverage to create optimal capital growth I would not receive elsewhere. If you havenât asked this already, you are probably thinking it: âWhy Are You Bothering Offer Forex Training If Youâre Making So Much Money Trading?â
People sometimes ask me this, and itâs a great question. I actually asked my mentor the exact same question when I was fresh! After all, those that canât do, teach, right? In some cases, yes, but in my case there are many reasons why. I like to educate private investors and Iâm very fortunate because my style of trading allows me to to free up about 95% of my day so I can do whatever I please. I have a whole bunch of free time I would not have otherwise have had to help others to profit from my forex training. If I traded âintraday,â which typically requires you to be in front of the screen for 3+ hours every daythen I probably would not bother. But I get great personal satisfaction from helping others and I am a great fan of creating âwin-winâ situations. Yes, I make money from charging clients for my services and some industry smarts say I should charge more. However, as Iâm making great overall returns trading,this it has actually enabled me to charge my clients LESS than what I should be charging. forex training Myths Bulldozed
Can trading make me a millionnaire? Absolutely. You can turn chump-change into a golden nest-egg. But it will not happen over-night. It depends how much you start with in your trading account and how consistent you are per month with your results. If you start off with $2,000 and you make 6% per month for 9 years⌠your account will grow to $1,000, 000. Thatâs compounding working in our favour, as opposed to it working against us as with the case with credit cards and mortages. Do the math! Can anyone learn to trade profitably? Sure, but as long as youâre willing to invest in your learning and be coached. If you think you can trade your way to financial freedom before any formal training then you can expect to become an an onconvenient statistic â 92% of people who do try and master the markets by themselves blow their accounts. A broker actually told me, off the record, that 90% of his clients lost decimated 90% of their trading accounts in 90 days. The 8% of traders who make it invest in accredited courses and programmes. Is trading a risky business? If you are a gambler â yes! But not if you have a ârisk managementâ system in place you where you keep the risk low. By selecting high reward trades, risking only a small amount of money (ie. 1% of your account) you will be trading the smart way. Failing to do this will be radion-active to your prospects of growing old without money worries. Do I have to give up my day job? No. The great news is that the forex market is the most versatile market to trade as it is open 5 days a week, 24 hours a day. You can trade a strategy which fits in completely into your life-style, so that you can run the trade without the trade running you. If, like us, you only want to trade for minutes a day, set your trades up and forget about them while they make you money â you can! Or if you want to quickly get in and out of the market â you can! Once you reach a point when you are making more from trading than your day job then you can fire your boss and get them to work for you!
