Tata Tigor EV 2023: A Comprehensive Review of India’s Most Affordable Electric Sedan
Tata Motors, a trailblazer in the Indian automotive industry, continues to drive the nation towards sustainable mobility with the launch of the updated Tata Tigor EV 2023. This electric sub-compact sedan has undergone a significant transformation, featuring enhancements in its driving range, color palette, variant options, and a slew of new features. In this detailed review, we delve into the key facets of the Tata Tigor EV, including its revolutionary powertrain, performance metrics, pricing strategy, and overall driving experience.
At the heart of the Tigor EV 2023 lies Tata's cutting-edge Ziptron powertrain, boasting a substantial 26kWh battery capacity—an upgrade from the Xpress-T model. This enhancement not only extends the driving range but also enables fast-charging capabilities. With a 25kW DC charger, the Tigor can reach an 80 percent charge in just 60 minutes, making it a practical choice for urban commuters.
Speaking of range, Tata claims an ARAI-certified 315 kilometers for the Tigor EV 2023. Real-world tests reveal an initial range close to 200 kilometers, ideal for daily city use. However, the system conservatively reduces power below 25 percent battery, a common feature in electric vehicles to optimize range.
The Tigor EV 2023 lineup includes four variants: XE, XT, XZ+, and XZ+ Lux, priced competitively between Rs 12.49 lakh and Rs 13.75 lakh (ex-showroom). This pricing strategy positions the Tigor EV uniquely in the market, although it indirectly competes with other Tata EV models.
Behind the wheel, the Tigor EV provides a distinctive electric driving experience. With measured acceleration and a Sport mode for peppy performance, it strikes a balance suitable for city driving while preserving battery life. The vehicle takes 13 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in Sport mode, showcasing its practical urban utility.
Handling and safety are commendable, with a balanced steering feel and a reassuring 4-star Global NCAP crash rating. The interior is well-equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system, connected car features, and a high-quality Harman audio system. Despite a few compromises in material quality, the Tigor EV impresses with its spaciousness and comfort.
The exterior design maintains the sharp aesthetics of the standard Tigor, with electric blue accents, a distinctive flat panel in place of the traditional grille, and unique rim designs highlighting its electric identity.
In conclusion, the Tata Tigor EV 2023 emerges as a capable and affordable electric sedan, ideal for urban commuting. While it may not match the performance of higher-end EVs, it fulfills its purpose efficiently. With the increasing push for EV adoption and government incentives, the Tata Tigor EV 2023 presents a compelling option for environmentally conscious and budget-conscious buyers in the Indian market.

Progress To Electric | Tata Tigor EV First Drive Review | TopGear India
Talk about electric vehicles, and the first question that springs to mind is ‘how far can you actually take it?’ Trust me, the lesser things we commit to, the better, and larger sections of automobile consumers aren’t ready for a commitment of charging their vehicles. It all seems like a worrying task piling up on an already hectic schedule.

Tata Tigor Long Term Review: March 2018
Considering that I was on leave and driving the Dzire for the better part of last month, I haven’t been able to clock too many kilometres on the odometer of the Tigor. That said, a good portion of the mileage this month was on the highway. A couple of runs to Pune and back were enough for me to realise that the Tigor’s engine doesn’t like to be pushed hard. The car gains some energy when you go past the 2,000rpm mark, but even then, the surge forward is just not strong or quick enough. It even starts to violently express its discomfort as you push it in three-digit speeds. Continue to accelerate further, and you may notice that it isn’t the most efficient car on the highway. Just like we experienced with the Tiago before this, the Tigor too is more of a city tool. There’s just enough punch to zip through traffic between lights, which by the way is further…

Tata Tigor Long Term Review: January 2018
A busy schedule has led all of my drives this month, which is north of 600 kilometres, to be predominantly in the city. With a small 1.05-litre diesel motor, the Tigor is best suited for urbanscapes, but it is far from being perfect even in this setting.
2017 Tata Tigor Review: First Drive
It’s a well-known fact that restoring a brand in the Indian market is no mean feat. And Tata Motors knows it very well. Undergoing a revamp, slowly, the brand has been gaining traction in the market, albeit there is much more that still needs to be done.

The third-gen Maruti Suzuki DZire is all set to go on sale across the country. Bookings of the new compact sedan are already open and we’ve already got a detailed look at it during the official unveil a couple of weeks ago. Now, while it’s a given that the new model will straightaway go on to become a best-seller for Maruti Suzuki – let alone dominate its segment

How does the newly launched Tata Tigor stack up against some of the other similarly priced cars in the market?
Tata first showcased the Kite 5, the concept form of the Tigor at the 2016 Auto Expo last year. The Sanand-based car maker then unveiled the Tigor in its production form at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March this year and launched it in the Indian market on 29th of the same month. The Tigor has been priced from Rs 4.7 lakh to Rs 7.09 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The price that it comes at, the Tata Tigor will have to hold its own not just against compact sedans

Tata Altroz iTurbo review: High hopes, modest numbers
Tata Altroz iTurbo review: High hopes, modest numbers
When we drove the Tata Altroz for the first time in December 2019, it was a refreshing change from the Tata Motors products we had seen previously, and felt like a deliberate start of something new. It was a competent, practical, good-looking car that checked the boxes and exceeded expectations. Back then, Tata was still making hotter JTP-branded Tiagos and Tigors, and we hoped that they’d put…

New Tata Nexon Facelift Electric Review- First True Indian EV
New Tata Nexon Facelift Electric Review- First True Indian EV
Electric cars till now in India have either been expensive or have too little range for making any sense. At the lower price point cars like Tata‘s own Tigor EV was not meant for personal car buyers hence this is the first proper affordable EV for India.
By affordable we mean at a price of Rs 13.9 lakh starting. You can buy the car across more cities (22) than any EV too with nearly 60 dealer…
