Day 1 for May DWC 2024 Mysterious - Appearance

★ Backstage Glimpses at Hearts of Tenacity Fest ★

'It's for the show, I'd do anything for the show.' He thought to himself internally for the thirtieth time tonight. 'Elune please, I beg of you please make my nose stop itching.' Mind over matter Kon... you are tougher than this. You can get through this. "Bare with us a little longer Kon, how are you holding up in there?" A familiar voice said though his eyes were still closed. "I'm managing, but my arms are getting heavy." "Do you need us to get you some broom handles to hold onto?" The question brought a sense of hope. "NO! No we can't his palms haven't finished curing yet." A different yet also familiar voice exclaimed. And like that, his hope was gone in an instant and the weight of his arms grew even heavier. "I will be alright everyone, worry not." Kon said sounding calm and confident even if he was internally dying. Who'd have ever thought that being mostly naked with only a tight thong on his body would make him hotter than hell itself. Or course, he was also covered literally head to toe in high performance platinum silicone rubber specifically designed for creating silicone makeup and fake skin effects. Did the audience truly know how to appreciate the artwork that went into such special FX? Did they know how many hours one had to stand perfectly still while layer after layer was applied. Hours spent sculpting each wound, each scale on his body and each scar. The science behind creating certain spray molds and smooth casting. All the chemicals used and mixed perfectly and time spent letting them cure in their molds to later be applied to his body. All the talcum powder applied and the adhesive applied painstakingly to every inch of his body. Being forced to resist the urge to twitch when it tickled, to scratch when it itched, to move at all and risk an imperfection of something falling off or not sticking when it wasn't dry yet. Light forbid if you have to take a leak during all this, a bathroom break was NOT an option when this heavy of effects were applied. One had to risk dehydration from the moment they woke as they could not risk having a full bladder till the show was over. And even as the last of the prosthetics were finally applied, then come the hours of makeup to get the color and tone just right to make it more believable. So much so the audience would genuinely feel it was real as they quite literally could reach out and touch it. It was all for the visuals and the more real it looked, the more real it became. This was nothing Kon told himself, trying for a moment to just imagine what it would be like to become an Illidari in reality. To embrace the fel magics and your literal inner demon as your body is twisted and torn into something grotesque for the power and ability to fight fire with fire in the most literal of sense. What he was going through now paled in comparison to the real deal. But tell that to the literal STING in cheek DEMANDING to be itched. To the ache in his arms as they felt like 50 pound weights. To the crick in his back for standing still for so long without moving. To the throb in his feet as every muscle scream to move. To the... "TALTHORN!" Konietzko suddenly yelled, head jerking up from the backstage table it had been resting on. A few cotton balls stuck to his skin from the heat he'd generated in his short respite he'd unintentionally taken to get a little shut eye in the dressing room backstage before the big show tonight. His eyes wide with alert and darting around confused as he was ripped from his slumber so suddenly. "Sorry Kal'dalah, I didn't mean to wake you." The magi replied not too far behind him mid wince as he picked up the brush he'd just accidentally dropped from his own hand. "Damn thing got tangled in my hair." he whimpered trying to fix the tiniest of knots in his long well kept silver locks.

Still somewhat confused in his sudden wakefulness, Konietzko staggered out of his chair and went to Talthorn taking his hands a little desperately as he looked him in the eyes being rather dramatic. This was nothing new to his husband of course so he just laughed as he held Kon in return. "Pleeeaaaseee tell me you're going to use your magic to apply my Illidari makeup for Inner Beast's set tomorrow." Kon whined making Talthorn quip a brow. "Of course, do you doubt my talents love?" "NEVER!" Kon exclaimed as he breathed a breath of relief so big it was as if he'd been holding it all this time. "Thank Elune I married a magi." Talthorn laughed as he reached up to remove those cotton balls on his cheek. "You didn't marry me just because of my magic did you?" "Of course not Kal'dalah. Only -mostly- for your magic." Kon teased at him as he leaned in to kiss his husband holding him tight in a warm embrace with a deep smile curved along his lips. "GET A ROOM!" A shout cried followed by many giggles from the nearby doorway. A quick look and both saw a few of their fellow stars standing there watching them. "Why when being watched is soooo much better." Kon purred in his deep voice as he slid a finger down Talthorn's thigh then hooked his leg and raised it up around Kon's own thigh. Talthorn played along, pressing his body against his husband as he hit the onlookers with a look only this silver fox could pull off and that made many jealous of Kon's marriage to him in all honesty. The doorway filled with smug grins, laughter, a few yelps and even the sound of a few feet running away suddenly down the hallway of the backstage area. It filled the elves both with laughter of their own as they looked to one another once more. "Guess we'll just have to save it for the Talicious show." Kon teased as their leftover audience groaned their displeasure. What happened backstage at HoT Fest stayed at HoT Fest... or usually wound up on their stage in some form. Either way, noone ever complained.

[Holiday Prompt Response from Anon]

There were not one, but a few people missing during the holiday. Yes, Tartt knew they had their own things and people to spend it with. It was her fellow Tarts and some of the Cast Company members that she missed. She had felt a little left out as it were. Her own brother didn’t even care about her, didn’t care if she lived or died. To Bogble, she wasn’t considered family.

She even missed Umbry, that tall handsome night elf. And Cy. And Leon, and Dice. Nahi too. Not to mention, Ranek, and El, and Tal, and Kon.

She missed the warmth and the laughter. The hugs and the kisses. Winter Veil wasn’t just about helping out Smokywood Pastures and the Copperpinch family. The holiday was a special time for the goblin. The gifts were nice and lovely, but she felt like no one was there to see her reaction to them.

WFC has finished! Did you have any adventures? Favourite stores? What about some late night shenanigans? (Khaeris/Kharris)

Khaeris had a lovely time hanging out with Pollux, Ahuatli, and Fiorenze. She didn't do anything too wild, either. She enjoyed getting her very brightly colored drink at the Getaway Cafe booth, but other than that, she was glad to have a good time. She did enjoy doing her Wheel of Fate quest -- and got to dance with Tal and Kon for that! Dancing is always uplifting to her!

{TMI } Does Phe typically prepare or rehearse for a show before she performs live? Has she learned moves from other Tarts, or do other people or events inspire her?

“I always prepare and rehearse! Specially if I’ve got some real dangerous stuff in my performances. Secret is, there’s always a real actual risk of danger when I’m doing anything that’s not simple singing or casual acro-staff! Like any weapon use, my fire, stuff like that.” She shrugs as if this is nothing though.

“I usually do my own stuff, but before HoT Fest I actually went to Kon and Tal to ask them to teach me some stuff. Had a special performance in mind, needed to learn a bit of aerial and hoop stuff. I’ve cracked a whip for fun from Dice too, but that’s his expertise! I ain’t gonna use whips like that in my performances.”

“I like pulling from my life for my performances, y’know? There’s always something to learn about me from my time up on stage if you’re lookin past how badass I am up there.” She winks with a playful smirk.

Sharpen makes an owl cabin for Kon

Sharpen sat on the floor of Jiroki's barn and spread out his large drafting paper on the hardwood floor. Bales of hay were neatly set aside since his chores this morning.

He swept a hand back over his green hair, itched his brow as he thought.

"It needs to look like an owl. But still be a hut. Or, a cabin. Would that be too big a structure, though? To support wings and a beak, you'd have to..." Sharpen slashed out a few loose lines. He stared at what was barely coming together.

"Hrm. This is no good. I need to go onsite and see how it would fit on the plot. Behind their house, right?"

Sharpen rolled up what would soon become his blueprint. He hooked it under his arm strolled out into the daylight.

"I hope Kon and Tal don't mind me lurking around in their backyard!" He donned a big, silly grin.

@daily-writing-challenge - Aug 2024 - Day 2 - Tenderness

Nahi sat comfortably on one of the log benches nearer to the back of the circle arranged for this special gathering, legs stretched out in front of her, heels digging into the snow and gravel. As probably half the tournament knew by this point, she had no problem being out front proudly sharing her enthusiasm for the performers, but this gathering was for the hosts and that dimmed the vibrancy her excitement through the week sparked.

Trist called Kon and Tal not-dads, which made her laugh, but in many ways they exuded that quality, even this gathering fit the description of family meals she heard others talk about. The welcoming warmth of dinner for their friends was something she felt every time she was with them… Uncles maybe? Big brothers? No label was really needed, but they were locking themselves into special place in her heart.

Her recognition this week that she was missing intimacy in her life was eased by the welcoming nature of this group and others she was getting to know better within the performance community. Nahi had known once she and her mother left the keep, that she would be isolating herself, she let Iren in, but she had little choice in that because his love for her mother ended up enveloping her. The decision to step from her comfort zone of Dalaran to begin performing at the Hearts of Tenacity Festival had born fruit in this unexpected way and altered much of her exterior life.

The whole week so far made her brain spark with community, it was on the edge of overwhelming, even for her outgoing nature. There were so many talented people she wanted to sit and talk to. She loved listening to the creative souls, with her newly recovered desire to open up some of her life, she had tried to initiate a way to get to know as many as she could. It was a hard line to find and not cross, the desire to get to know someone in this way versus her wanting to get to know the beautiful bartender at the Orchid club in Dalaran. 

Trist’s arrival pulled her from the woolgathering and people watching she had been doing to begin to chat, they were one of the people she had been thinking about. A budding friendship to help color a life she had not realized had drained to grayscale

Day 3 for May DWC 2024 Shame - Favorite

★ Backstage Glimpses at Hearts of Tenacity Fest ★

While interviewing the performers backstage was always fun, this year the hosts decided to have a little fun with it! Loaded with a bag of Hearts of Tenacity pin sets, Konietzko set forth to offer one Starflower and one Aethril pin to everyone they interviewed to see how they'd respond. Of course Talthorn couldn't resist also asking them how many Talicious Pinups that they had on their walls already too as a further way to loosen things up and keep their minds off the pressure of their shows.

Kon recalled Dicenne saying something about, "The two seem fairly inseparable, no?" Which means the guy was smart enough not to choose either but both. So that made it one point for Talthorn and one point for Kon. The Fangbreakers said they all already had purchased the full set to collect so that too was another point for both making them both still tied with two. Grim had reported that they didn't own any pinups yet, but he couldn't help but wonder if that changed after the festival. They certainly had put on one amazing show as a new soul on their stage. But he also recalled that Grim had chosen the Starflower pin. Aha! Three points for himself and still only two for Talthorn. Illerodora considered herself a woman of mystery so she would not comment on how many posters she owned to which set Talthorn off on a barrage of questions trying to weasel some form of an answer out of her but she never budged, not even for him. He smiled fondly at that memory before recalling that she'd chosen the Aethril pin as it stood out against her skin and hair in such a lovely way even if she actually wanted both. Of course they wound up giving them both to her as how could they resist. But that evened up the score again to three each. Liam informed them that Ranathiel had many pinups in their room, though he hadn't caved yet of having one done of himself yet. It didn't change the score for them either as Liam had both pins already from former years of the fest. Malor expressed his thankfulness for the "beautiful and a little familiar" Starflower pin so that put Kon back ahead of Talthorn four to three. Maybe he should have offered one to his wife, that could have been a double point! Nahilvi snatched both of them from him when offered, the little thief. Course he would have given them both to her but that put them at five to four now. Ranek confessed to having a collection of pinups though he wouldn't confess who he had even if he'd teased the worgen a little about having each one of Kon's. He loved razzing his friend though it was no secret. But he was unable to choose between the two pins and had to flip a coin. Konietzko debated rather to make that count or not in the score because he technically hadn't chosen. He scrunched his nose and decided not to cheat. Rye confessed to having a few pinups of both him and Talthorn to which he was not surprised considering how close they were. But when presented with the pin challenge he chose Aethril without even hesitating. "Starflowers are all well and good, but we both admit that there's a vibrant aura from Aethril that is near damn impossible to ignore." He said much to Kon's chagrin. That put them back to being equal at five to five. Ryland admitted he didn't really collect pin-ups but, "I absolutely do have one of Dicenne. He's been a huge inspiration to me, and he's just really fucking hot." A comment which neither Talthorn nor Konietzko could deny but left them all laughing. Much like Dicenne, he had chose both telling them, "I feel like you cannot have one without the other." So that put them both at six to six now. Soo-Ha the lovely dear had been so kind and gentle when they interviewed her. But she picked Aethril right away as she claimed she was a "sucker for hues of pink and purple." Talthorn couldn't fault her for that nor did Kon so that put his husband back in the lead with six to seven now.

Starman was a riot to question, he even blushed a bit with those freckled cheeks when asked about the pin-ups. He said, "I've made sure to update the collection each year... Every performer is gorgeous in their own right, and they can be rather inspirational when writing scripts for future performances. There's actually a small handful that have inspired my performance for this year's Talicious Block." That certainly left them both curious but boy had he brought on the heat with his show. Aznhin did NOT disappoint. Course he declined the pins as he already had both so the score remained with Talthorn in the lead. Much to Kon and Tal's amusement, the Starstriders gave a specific number confessing they had at least five posters. But they kept the score mostly the same as Leo chose Starflower and Trist chose Aethril putting them at seven to eight, Talthorn leading still.

Tarscale tipped Talthorn ahead even further having chosen Aethril as she seemed fond of the pink flower shape so that put his husband ahead with seven to nine and Andy put him ahead even further having chosen Aethril simply because his sister Velathra grew them in her garden. But fair was fair so the score was now seven to ten for Talthorn. Zane at last was their final score to count, admitting she had a few posters on her walls but she too decided to choose the Aethril pin as it was more her style. Course she wanted both in the end but that initial choice counted in this favorites game putting Talthorn as the winner with their scores of seven to eleven. Konietzko couldn't blame anyone for chosing him or Aethril more, honestly he had chosen him over himself too time and time again. With a laugh he called out to Talthorn. "Seven to Eleven, you win!" Celestial Journey

Took me above the heavy veil of eve and falling snow

To a place that welcomed to where I truly could belong

Where my soul would be eternally warm in beautiful song

How fellow stars would say they had been waiting for me

In all their cosmic wonder and phenomenal energy

A place where my mind could finally understand

All the answers to the questions my life had in its span

However every time I brought myself to this promised realm

I could only watch in frozen shackles held in silent overwhelm

To only view with the universe would be never enough for me

So I would return here and be left with the elusive mystery

What had I been missing in all of my years?

Did I want too much to walk those frontiers?

As so more time passed and my search would go on

For the epiphany I desired for so very long

As fate brought my feet to through into the veil of heavy eve and snow

There was a light that drew me in, attempting to hide its mystifying glow

In the vision of a handsome man and aura that dismissed the chill of night

His deep words could melt a soul of ice much to my mortal ears delight

The way he truly captivated was how he saw me within his amber eyes

He saw straight past to my inner self through my ever guarded disguise

We knew that those pieces of us on display, were not the sum of our parts

That we were so much more and began to share our dreams and our hearts

Our lives became one when our shells of fear shattered away

And accepting we were worthy of this love to celebrate everyday

The path that was once only mine, was now -ours- to explore

And he helped me find the key to unlock my stubborn mind’s door

The calling within both of us swelled to embark to the star’s domain

We dared to reach together with our magics of life and arcane

I did not know, where we would go or what we would see

Would I discover the path once more was still frozen for me?

My arrival was the same, where I struggled to move 

And with patience and explanation I began to improve

Kal’dalah showed how I was limiting myself to what I thought I knew

To accept I was already a part of our universe we nurtured and grew

In that moment he took my proverbial hand 

Shared his words in thoughts only I could understand

Our essences flowed in motion and at last we could dance 

Around the illuminating star we made in spiritual romance

Never could I had imagined such a divine moment in time

In what we made together with this shining new paradigm

Where our music held me warm and I could do more than merely observe

And forms we knew transformed and took flight with a relishing verve

We had but a taste of the celestial horizon but knew there was so much to learn

To transcend here in our eternal future is an honor we’d have to earn

Which we shall in every step forward and liberating breath

With every song and understanding from this life into death

But this life of ours is far from over, so we will embrace and strive

The passions and pursuits that make us all feel alive

When we are ready for another journey to begin

I know there shall never be any doubt in…

Where will we go and what will we see

It’s the home and happiness that were meant to be

Where we meet each other in our special place

Beyond what we know of time and space

Our songs of will echo in a harmonic destiny

And we can dance among the nebulas for all eternity

Our souls will soar on a never ending adventure of the unknown
