They were friends, or so their mutual teasing indicated. She wouldn't have pressed her luck with a nickname he despised if she didn't trust him not to turn his gang on her family, and he wouldn't have reciprocated in kind if he still found her to be a danger to his own. Formalities didn't suit him, of that much Sonia was sure: but how would he fare in the yakuza otherwise? There were only three paths out of street gangs, or so she'd observed: joining the rest of society and obtaining a real job or education, joining the yakuza, or the third option she didn't want to think about. The option that had led him to Hope's Peak and her company in the first place, his friend's demise. Unless he sought employment and set his gang aside, she felt he'd have to face formalities one day. And Mikey, Sonia thought, did not make for a suitable foot soldier in any family: he'd have to lead or, she felt, he'd be discontent. She'd known the boy for only hours and yet that was enough to discern that leadership was natural to him and anything else would leave him unsettled.
More unsettled than a haunted ride, to be sure. Though Sonia preferred the haunts. "A few of them, yes," She confirmed with a smile, far more dreamy and content than most would be when meeting ghosts. She was hardly ever allowed to be so whimsical, or even so cheerful in public. Soft and knowing smiles were allowed under the right circumstances, but showing her passions and therefore her weaknesses...her mother worked so hard to shut them away. It made the entire Borghese Family vulnerable, her passions. And yet she clenched her fists around them and refused to let them go, like a child with a favored blanket. Comfortable yes, but also what she needed to keep a hold of her sanity most of the time. "They possess fascinating stories paired with the ability to make you so very aware of your limited mortality. But that is a benefit of traveling, I think: finding more places that give you inspiration, and people who understand you when you feel alone. Though when you are dancing, you are never alone."
Something Mikey hadn't appreciated, at least where her comfort where the clowns were concerned. Sonia frowned: she'd only been trying to help. If his gang likely didn't fear his feet knocking out several of their permanent teeth, she assumed a bit of teasing around his fear would be warranted. "I imagine a spiteful, vengeful ghost abandoned her," She suggested, half-listening to the story in order to carry on their conversation. Strangely enough, it was more interesting than the ride's lore and she could always ride it again. She likely would, if the clowns wouldn't faze him a second time. "Maybe it is simply too romantic to fathom, if the ghost in question never loved her in the first place and only wanted her for power and control. I see enough of that in real life, who is to say it would not carry into the undead? Nevertheless, it still looks like fun, heartbreak aside. Spending my years haunting somewhere or someone sounds far more preferable than crossing over into the afterlife!"
If only because the afterlife, as she knew it in her family's Catholicism, seemed rather dull in comparison to Limbo, or even Hell itself. She'd read The Divine Comedy as soon as she was able to get her hands on it as a child, alongside plenty of other reading material inappropriate for children.
She followed Mikey off the ride: she'd been first to get on and therefore last to disembark. The walk back out into the sunlight was jarring, both in brightness and heat. "Sure, let us try the...what is it," Sonia paused to glance at the map. "Splash Mountain! A depiction of 19th Century Rural America apparently, based on a 20th Century film. Well, it shall cool us off at least." That, and the drop looked fun. The American West area of the park wasn't too far away and she could see the tan-colored mountain in the distance, and the riders who cried out as their logs began their descent.
But Sonia's smile faded at his suggestion, noticing the costumed character before shaking her head. "I really should not," She sighed, turning towards the mountain instead. "If I am caught here in a photograph by anyone, I imagine my family's security will converge quickly and our day out will end earlier than I think either of us intended. It is probably for the best that I refrain from photography whilst here."
Still, she gave the Mouse a wistful look. She would not have minded meeting him, personally: it was better than meeting princesses, with their overly cheery expressions and espousing of true love. Mostly, Sonia felt sure Mikey would never let her live it down if she posed next to a heavily made up woman in a ballgown and tiara. "So, the Splash Mountain, then?"
He visibly cringed as she called him 'Sano San', vaguely aware that this was likely payback for his little nickname for her that she disliked so much. "Wow and here i thought we were friends. Fine then.. princess. Whatever suits you." He shrugged, playing it off so she couldn't tell how much the formality irked him. Two could play at that game.
It was nice, teasing this mafia boss to be who he'd just met, and having her tease him in return. He couldn't say many people tried to poke fun at him, and if they attempted, it usually ended up with him punching them. Instead, he enjoyed the familiarity of the bantering with her, not able to quite hide his grin as they moved into the line for the ride. "So.. you've actually met these wrathful spirits that your family offed?" Manjiro asked dubiously, not too concerned with the families that surrounded them. They were at the haunted house, and people would likely assume they were roleplaying, or retelling spooky stories. "Nah, I've never left Japan. Might be cool to visit elsewhere sometimes though." If his gang would be okay long enough for him to ever take a vacation... Gods knew he needed one though, and he was still only a teen.
He almost laughed as they watched the ghosts spin around. "Yeah I'm a leader.. but I don't know any dance moves. So I don't think I could lead someone around like that. It's not so easy for me at least. I've never even tried to dance." What good was dancing when he led a gang, that spoke with their fists? He knew that it was something a lot of couples did, but he'd never really even talked to many girls. Yet, the way the ghosts moved around made his eyes sparkle a bit. "It does look kind of fun though."
The ride wasn't fun for long as they entered the room with the clowns. Mikey tried not to give his companion a total death grip, as the juggling clowns grew closer. He would kill whoever thought that clowns or ghosts weren't scary enough, and that they should be combined. He shot a quick glare at Sonia, when she said she wouldn't tell anyone. "I don't need your pity... I won't be scared anymore dammit." He grumbled, forcing himself to stare right at one who was drifting much too close to their car.
Soon enough they were out of the room and onto the next, luckily. He eyed the bride left behind on the altar, and frowned. All the ghosts had seemed to be having fun, until this room, with this sole, lonely ghost. "What kind of deadbeat ghost left her here like this? That's pretty messed up. Makes me want to kick his pasty ass." As much as he'd never thought much about romance, let alone marriage, he knew it wasn't something to be taken lightly.
Then they were on to what seemed to be the finale, as there was a whole cemetery full of ghosts. "Well.. they do seem to be having fun, but would being dead really be like this? Partying all the time?" He had his doubts, although he hoped Satori and Baji had joined a choir and learned some dance routines. The car finally went to the end of the ride, and they pulled up where they started. The workers ushered them to get off.
Originally, he'd wanted to go to the roller coaster next. They were his favorite kind of rides. Now that she mentioned it though.. it was a rather hot and humid day, and the inside of the haunted house had been a bit warm and stuffy. "How about the water ride? It's a good way to cool off. We can do the roller coaster after if you want. We should have time for both."
He checked the map and headed for the log ride, as long as she agreed. There were more games on the way, a giant statue of mushu, an enormous castle seemingly made of ice, and.. "Oh hey it's Micky Mouse." Mikey pointed over to the guy in the costume, walking around. He was surrounded by children, taking photos as he went. "You can get a picture if you want, since you've never been here before."

@hcpefulmarshmallow asked: [ splash ] (but reversed because sonia is very welcome. also, any verse, go wild.)
Awkward Scenario Prompts
Nearly as soon as the double doors were opened for her at Lotus Entertainment, Sonia Nevermind felt stifled. It wasn't even the multitude of smiling faces, from the CEO and Borghese Family Capo Isabella and the various tutors and instructors not otherwise engaged with trainee and debuted idols alike, or the thick stench of Isabella's Versace perfume. It was a tension in the air, one that broke through the happy expressions and lavished praise upon Hope's Peak's Ultimate Mafia Boss, the current underboss of Europe's most lucrative and successful crime family, and settled upon her shoulders. Sonia had gone from school, to her penthouse condo, and finally to the high-rise in downtown Towa City that served as Lotus' headquarters. From floors devoted to publicity, to dance and recording studios, to the dorms, the structure operated as a one-stop shop for the Japanese idol machine known as Lotus: the only one owned and operated by a woman, and a gaijin woman at that. It was the music industry's most well-known and best-kept secret: it was run by the mafia, and bringing that to the attention of the police or using it as slander was cause for death. After the first dozen mysterious murders, the industry had learned its lesson, as did most of the restaurants, nightclubs, concert halls, shops, anything the Family and their idols needed to keep the recording company and its stars afloat.
But it wasn't enough, at least not for the trainees and idols with less-than-ideal debuts. The students there, all close to Sonia in age, were either signed by their own accord or, far more likely, performing to pay off favors and debts their families had made with the Borgheses. In a desperate attempt to keep their performers pristine, it wasn't uncommon for Borghese soldiers to pay a visit to families their idols never saw, pressuring them to make sure their children provided a good return on their investment and that they wouldn't default on their deals. The pressure was too great, especially for the newest idols to debut. As Sonia smiled, tight-lipped and shifting her weight in her cocktail dress and stiletto heels, one young woman burst out of the crowd of idols who had paused their practices to gawk at the Ultimate Mafia Boss, many not believing she really was eighteen until they laid eyes on her. For most of them, it would be the closest they'd get to the blood family of the Borgheses and its feared Donna, Valentina Borghese.
"M-Miss Sonia!" She sputtered, stopping less than a meter from the blonde. With thin limbs and lank, droopy hair, the combination of strict diet and exercise in order for her to retain her "idol look" had done its damage. Or perhaps it was the sheer stress of it all, settling in dark circles under her eyes, her shaking hands, and a nervous sweat that broke out over her face and arms. "I'm...I'm Yuki, my debut was six months ago? I'm very sorry that my concerts and meet and greets aren't going as well as you'd like, but I'm trying very hard! It's just...it's just that my family has nothing more to send to the company. But I thought that maybe if you listened to my debut songs, maybe play them at a party? That you could help get the word out. I'd be forever grateful!"
Before Sonia could get a word in, the other girl dropped to her knees and fully bowed, prostrating herself before her. She tried her best to stay stern but concern creeped into her blue eyes, accented with black liner and shades of gold shadow to compliment her one-shouldered violet dress, which hugged her form and stopped just above the knee. But the dress was the least of Sonia's problems: right now she had a shaking fifteen year old at her feet, terrified for her family's lives and dripping sweat all over her Jimmy Choos. And she had an air of authority she needed to keep, especially as Isabella was intent on taking her and several of Lotus' far more successful idols out for a meal that night, hoping Sonia would pass on a good word to her mother and perhaps cover up Isabella's indiscretions involving Host Clubs and Pachinko parlors owned by their affiliates, the Kuzuryuu yakuza family. She had to think fast, to assure Yuki that there was no need to fret and if she could, to get some rest.
"Please, there's no need for this," Sonia sighed with a gentle smile, stooping to her knees and taking the girl by her bare arms, pulling her to her feet. "I'll listen to your songs. Do you have a USB drive I can have?"
It was enough to make Yuki squeal with delight, reaching into the pocket of her sweaty tracksuit to produce the stick drive Sonia requested. After thanking the blonde profusely, she quickly bowed to Isabella before darting back into the crowd, tears joining the sweat on her cheeks. Sonia smiled awkwardly, holding the stick between her thumb and forefinger. In the process of comforting the younger girl, her hands and the drive were now covered in sweat.
"Oh goodness, what a mess," Isabella sighed, flicking her dark brown hair over her shoulder. "Yuki's such a basket case, no wonder the fans can't warm to her. Please Sonia, take this and allow me to escort you to a restroom. At this hour, you should not be disturbed while you wash your hands."
"Yes, I'd appreciate that Isabella, thank you," Sonia nodded, watching the woman reach into her handbag for a hankerchief, revealing the inside of her left arm in the process. Like every high-ranking position in the Family, she was branded with a unique flower. In her case, her lotus tattoo in shades of pink and purple stood out against the delicate skin of her forearm, one she hardly paid attention to as she passed the white cloth to Sonia. Unlike plenty of Borghese Family members, Sonia included, she kept her family affiliation in an easily visible place, if just to strike fear in the hearts of idols and idol hopefuls. Wiping at her hands, she followed the woman into the elevator, taking it to the seventh floor, a quieter floor of the building primarily serving as idol apartments. "I imagine this floor should all be at various practices, so you'll be fine. I'll wait for you with the rest of the team on three so we can begin your brief tour and studio updates."
Sonia affirmed her approval before disappearing into the bathroom. The bathing areas were all co-ed, something that only worked and kept the idols distraction-free due to the rule in each and every one of their contracts: dating and sex were strictly forbidden while under contract with Lotus. Only once the door had closed did Sonia sigh deeply, her plastered-on smile turning into a concerned frown. She'd have to bring up Yuki's file once she was home and away from Isabella's prying glances. Surely there was something she could do for her, but to see a girl so close to her in age and so desperate and fearful for her life and those she cared about...it distressed the Borghese heir more than she could ever let on. Slipping the thumb drive into her leather handbag, Sonia moved in the direction of the sinks. But as she turned on the faucet, her eyes widened: the cold tap she now set her hands under was not the only source of running water in the bathroom. The nearest shower, with its glass-paned walls and doors that left little hidden beyond the steam created within, was also running. And it had an occupant.
It was enough to make her head turn, to make her forget about the icy water that streamed over her palms. Through the pockets of steam both in the shower and the rest of the bathroom, Sonia could clearly make out exactly whom she was sharing the facility with: Nagito Komaeda. Nagito, Lotus' most popular idol whose songs, dances, and perhaps most importantly, his good looks seemed to captivate fans across the country of all ages. Sonia had barely talked to him before and yet even she couldn't escape his visage: from giant billboards across Towa City, promoting his next concert or some product endorsement, or the fact that the Ultimate Idol was part of her class at Hope's Peak, Nagito (that was how his fans called him, anyway. Last names were irrelevant. When interviewed by the market research division, it was clear his fans went on a first name basis with him if only to fancy themselves close to him. Preferably as his lover) was, quite literally, everywhere. And now he was here before her, clear glass and steam the only barrier between her gaze and his pale skin, lean physique, fluffy hair, and green eyes that fans and employees at Lotus alike melt with a single look. As the clouds of steam both formed and dissipated, Sonia was treated to a view of his shoulders, the muscles in his upper arms and chest, and clean lines that tapered down his torso to-
Oh hell. She looked. Not that the steam had given her much to see, but Sonia had actually looked there. She needed to finish washing her hands, she needed to leave before-
Sonia swallowed. Before she could finish her train of thought, his green eyes and locked with her blue. With a sharp intake of breath, it was now painfully clear that Nagito Komaeda had caught her looking. At least she could play off the pink color of her cheeks as due to the heat in the bathroom. Didn't he have his own apartments, whether located at Lotus or elsewhere? As the highest-earning idol, it was custom to give private living arrangements as a gift. Why was he using the dormitory bathroom? And why was he running late? He was supposed to be part of the dinner party leaving in thirty minutes. But those were questions she couldn't bring herself to ask in the moment, as she tore her gaze away from his pectorals to his face, though it was a far more difficult task to look him in the eye. Just...just fuck. This is not good.
"I...um....I needed to wash my hands. I needed soap," She quickly clarified for him, her eyes still locked on his as she blindly reached for the hand soap on the edge of the sink.

Closed, plotted starter for @the-taboo-king
"Your promptness is appreciated. We'll go to L'Osier, you like French food."
Even for Byakuya Togami, this was a rather curt greeting. Despite being her underclassman, he still spoke to her in same bossy manner he did with everyone else. It made Sonia chuckle, the first smile she wore all day as she finally was free of the demands her phone and laptop required: after an early morning raid on a business that had refused to pay and body count far too difficult for just the capo to cover up, she'd needed to request several favors as the underboss of the Borghese family. And no one refused the daughter of Valentina Borghese, even if she preferred to take her deceased father's surname. Their influence was too vast, infiltrating organized crime in every country in Europe and more recently, Japan, in their vast array of schemes: real estate, construction, gambling, weapons deals, racketeering in nearly anything they could that took advantage of businesses that deserved it, legal sex work...and so forth. Sonia, at eighteen years old and in her final year of high school, was still learning every single bit of dealings her mother orchestrated behind pretty smiles and her collection of bladed weapons. But from high-ranking government officials to the most corrupt of casinos, they all shared the same fear: a beautiful woman with the tattoo of a flower somewhere upon her body there to collect the favor she was owed. It was the largest, most successful business operated by a woman and yet it would never appear in any financial magazine: After all, none of it was legal.
"I'm amused that you're stating this instead of asking my preference," She replied, once her amusement had subsided and her red lips were fixed back into a smug smile. "Considering it's your father, the head of the Togami conglomerate, requesting business with my family, perhaps it might be prudent to at least inquire about it?"
With blue eyes behind large sunglasses, she watched Byakuya sigh with a huff in his immaculately cut suit. They were two of the only students who refused to wear the Hope's Peak uniform, but for good reason. For both of them, business could divert their attention from their studies at any moment and both heirs needed to be properly armored to face it. In her case, her forest green pencil skirt, white blouse, and coordinating green cape blazer would suit anywhere that didn't need black tie or fancier while still somewhat resembling a uniform. Just a luxurious one, with stiletto heels and a leather satchel at her arm, diamonds and emeralds sparkling in her earlobes and around her neck. Even the most talented students at Hope's Peak had people to envy, and more often than not it was one of the privileged three: Byakuya Togami, the Ultimate Heir, Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu, the Ultimate Yakuza, and the only female member worthy of the title: Sonia Nevermind, the Ultimate Mafia Boss. While she made it a point to get along, with possible opportunities to demand favors, from as many students as possible, she did sincerely get on with the two boys the Borghese family had business with. Other students had to attend school to hone their talents, but the privileged three were set for life: school was for making connections in the midst of shaping their careers into something different than what they were destined to inherit.
"Why bother with the pleasantries. Even if your intelligence and, to a degree, dignity, don't make me outright despise you, the reservations have been made and it's a...secure location, for you." He adjusted his glasses as he spoke, Sonia watching his eyes dart about the alley behind the main course building. Being seen speaking to her about actual business and not typical teenage conversations would only cause him problems. Sonia knew such dark, dour locations upset him. Byakuya would never admit it of course, but she knew there was a part of him that relished in the glory of being seen as a person of authority. With her, every meeting about things that mattered were conducted quietly, secretly, with a woman who couldn't be impressed by his billions of yen. Not when the Borghese family was also terribly affluent, the more their various ventures were added together.
But she had to smile, something small but sincere, at his words. Even if he couldn't be seen in the main dining room discussing business with Sonia Nevermind, the privacy was enacted more for her sake than his. Every so often for the past two years she'd tried to nudge him into admitting, even reluctantly, that they were friends but it was the nature of what she was and the businesses she ran, even when they meant to help those in need, that seemed to keep him from showing her any real affection. Truly, it was better that way: friendships that got too close or worse, romantic entanglements, made everything difficult in the Family. Family, not friends, not lovers, not anything, came first. "Thank you, Byakuya. You're right: I would very much enjoy that, and not just for the reasons for the dinner itself." It was honest at least, she did quite like the food. But knowing him the topic of conversation would start and end with the deals and contracts they needed to sign, a young man far more content with silence as he ate his filet than filling it with conversation about anyone else. Unless it was for business, Byakuya was as uninterested in people as Sonia was interested. And for that reason, it was going to be a miserable evening.
"Then we should stop wasting time," He sighed, looking over his shoulder to the black town car parked at the side of the street. "Come on, my car's waiting-"
But before he'd even turned on his heel, something from above pelted the Ultimate Heir square in the chest before exploding. "What the H-" Byakuya sputtered as pieces of rubber fell away from the lapels of his jacket, yellow paint seeping into the wool and dribbling down onto the pockets, his trousers, and finally his leather shoes. A second object joined the first, one that Sonia now recognized to be a balloon, seemingly filled with nothing but yellow paint. It hit Byakuya in the right thigh, splattering over both his trousers and the side of her skirt. Finally, a third balloon joined the other two in its target, hitting him in the shoulder and splashing onto her white blouse and blazer, bits of paint landing on the frames and lenses of both his glasses and her sunglasses. "You complete and utter IMBECILE!" Byakuya shouted, his gaze following where the balloons had come from before she looked for herself. But it was hard for even the Ultimate Heir to appear threatening when he resembled a bumblebee. "Some of us have worthwhile talents and futures to see to! If you intend on being a waste of perfectly good space at this school, do it somewhere else!"
Looking down at her own attire, Sonia's outfit was equally beyond repair as she picked at the paint that now settled into her blouse. Unlike Byakuya, however, the incident only seemed to add to her amusement for the day. "I'm sorry, Sonia, but we'll have to postpone. We cannot turn up at L'Osier in such a soiled state. If you can find your way home, that would be preferable."
"No, no...I can manage on my own, I'll just need to phone a car," She sighed. Sonia wanted to laugh at just how furious he was just by a ruined suit, but she thought better of it as she glanced up at the rooftop: the thorn in Byakuya's side seemed to be gone.

Continued from here for @the-taboo-king
"When you said club, I presumed cocktails, possibly with the addition of jazz," Sonia winced as she lowered herself onto an overturned wooden crate, the closest thing she could find to a chair. When Michiko had sent the directions to the new location they'd be meeting for the handover, she'd already thought the map was rather strange. No properly numbered or lettered streets, common markers replaced with various symbols and sigils, not unlike the horror movies she enjoyed on occasion. Instead, she'd exited the car parked two blocks away and followed the symbols, crudely spraypainted onto concrete floors and walls to direct visitors into the depths of the abandoned warehouse. At least she'd spotted Michiko early on, though the skirts and sheath dresses she so commonly wore to meet the Borghese Underboss were now replaced with ripped jeans, a black t-shirt, and lace up boots. She was a reliable contact but she enjoyed a bit of fun, and once Sonia had descended the stairs she cracked up laughing, but she was the only one in the room who did. "Not an abandoned building where if you trip on anything, you may be in need of a tetanus shot."
"Your assumption, your problem," the woman's laugh finally subsided as she set two foaming cups between them. "By the way, the drinks are free. So what will ya have? Beer or beer?"
Sonia eyed the cup set in front of her warily. She wasn't opposed to most new experiences but the lager had several centimeters of foam on top. Michiko had pumped the keg herself, something that was far more difficult than it looked. But her wary expression paled in comparison to the judgment, bordering on raw hatred, of the fellow occupants of the space. Michiko had a good laugh at Sonia Nevermind, appearing at an underground rock performance in a short, fitted navy dress with one shoulder exposed and coordinating suede heels. Careful to hide her orchid tattoo by leaving her hair down, she would have looked inconspicuous in any upscale bar or lounge. But not here: she could've shown up in pastels and plastic jewelry in the shape of hearts and stars and she doubted the crowd would have reacted any more favorably. At least her longer tendrils of blonde hair could partially conceal the diamond earrings she'd chosen to wear with her ensemble. "Neither, thank you. I have a feeling I'm going to need something much stronger after this," Sonia politely declined, her gaze glancing at the menacing faces around her before turning back to the other girl, still smirking as she eyed the silver clutch in Sonia's hand.
"Did you bring the rest of it?" Michiko hissed. At least this part was a familiar routine: they had to be quick, and with so many eyes on Sonia, her plan of amusement could quickly turn sour. "I wanna watch the show and I bet you wanna get the hell out of here."
Her pale fingers relaxed their grip on the Saint Laurent clutch in her lap. Unlocking the snap closure, she delved inside for the item Michiko requested: a white, unsealed envelope, its contents straining what the stationery could hold. Sonia passed it to her swiftly, pausing as she knew the girl would count every bit of it. "Of course I brought it. Your fee, as agreed upon. Did you bring what I asked for?"
"Yeah, yeah. Here ya go," Michiko smirked, sealing the envelope and sticking it into the pocket of her jacket. At the same time, she retrieved the small item Sonia had just paid for: a USB drive, which the blonde quickly swiped from the other girl's fingers and pushed it quickly past the neckline of her dress and into her bra. It was safer than the bag: if that got stolen, she would recover quickly. But the information on the drive couldn't fall into anyone else's hands. Lives were at stake. "Gotta say, you take a fuck ton of risks with your stunts. Reminds me of the shit I read in English class once, something about a hood who wanted to rob rich people. Which itself is pretty fucking rich, considering it's you."
"Robin Hood," Sonia filled her in. Michiko had abandoned her education years ago, first by choice before becoming so entrenched in gloom that once she'd pulled herself out, she never wanted anyone to suffer the same fate. It was nothing short of a miracle that she'd crossed paths with her. "Steal from the rich to give to the poor, though it is always my wish that they do not remain suffering for long."
"If anyone's got the shit to pull it off, it's you. I'll let you know if I dig up anything else you'll want." The dark haired girl sighed, grabbing both cups of beer for herself. They'd chosen to remain in the back of the room, where it was only marginally quieter but once the music began to play, the crowd directed their anger to the mosh pit instead of the foreign girl in the expensive dress.
Michiko had been right. She had every intention to leave, considering the roar of the crowd made her ears hurt, Sonia pressing a hand to one of them in order to muffle the sound. She couldn't see what was going on onstage and yet she didn't care. Getting to her feet, she waved a goodbye to Michiko, her phone in her hand indicating she'd message her later with further updates. She could make her exit easily now, everyone who'd glared and shouted profane comments in her direction distracted by the song. Which had taken a softer turn and yet still captured their attention.
Except now, it had captured hers as well. Lowering her hand from the side of her head, Sonia held her purse close against her side as she listened, eyelids fluttering closed over her ice blue eyes. The images the singer wove in his words were somewhere entirely devoid of light, of optimism, of hope, a place she often found herself nowadays the more she knew that one day she'd have to fill her mother's shoes, a prospect that thrilled everyone except Sonia. That final kiss was reminiscent of the last bit of time she'd attend Hope's Peak and still be afforded some freedoms alongside fulfilling the needs of the Borghese Family, smoothing out difficult situations and making decisions on various investments. That bit of freedom, similar to the passion of a kiss that no one wanted to end, was slipping away, just like the bewitching bridge of the song. Nothing beautiful or good ever stayed. Not where she was concerned.
But as the crowd roared to life once more, causing her to clamp her hands over her ears while her eyes flew open, the scene before her was enough to drown out the screams. The Ultimate Mafia Boss had been so confident that her meeting would occur without incident, as Michiko had promised that no matter where they met, she wouldn't be recognized. But Michiko had no idea that her classmate of sorts, the delinquent who prided himself in breaking into her condo and bypassing her security whenever he got the chance, also possessed the voice she'd been entranced by a moment ago. Sonia's hands dropped to her side, face frozen in shock as she stayed in place. She needed to leave, because if he recognized her she'd have to explain herself and that was something she couldn't do.
"Oh, shit," She muttered as the song came to an end and Gundham said something about anarchy that seemed to please the audience. With the music over, it was unlikely the crowd would remain distracted and her ability to sneak away was now greatly diminished.

Send 📱 for five texts my muse didn't send yours, and one that they did
[TEXT: Troublemaker] I've been trying to put my finger on it for a while, why you keep breaking into my penthouse and putting the majority of my security team in the hospital. I think I understand now: you don't have too many friends and you're lonely.
[TEXT: Troublemaker] That isn't a terrible thing to realize. None of us can truly exist alone in the world, we all need others. Whether it's for our talents and future careers or just someone to remind us that we're more than that.
[TEXT: Troublemaker] But whether it's your talent or your personality, you seem to shun everyone, especially your own class. I'm pretty sure we have classmates who've never even seen you on school property, much less sitting at your desk (which, incidentally, happens to be next to mine. Miss Yukizome remains optimistic that you'll fill it one day).
[TEXT: Troublemaker] And while they may not share your taste for anarchy, they are good people at heart. Even if you seem scary, someone will befriend you without asking for anything in return. Trust me, I've tried to offer favors when I can but most are turned down. Just sharing a class is enough, being yourself is enough. And while I cannot agree with everyone on every topic, just knowing that when I need them, they'll be there, is priceless.
[TEXT: Troublemaker] Which leads me to my new conundrum: you keep visiting me, choosing to wile away hours with me instead of anyone else. Despite us both being criminals in the eyes of the law, shouldn't I be someone you despise? You detest authority, power, and the abundance of wealth at the expense of others, and yet my family represents the most lucrative organized crime family in the world. With that logic, the only person you'd likely hate more than me is Byakuya Togami (and he's an acquired taste, to be sure). So, tell me. Why me? Because I can't understand you and why you've made your choice.
[TEXT: Troublemaker SENT 10:15] I have a request: could you please arrange something with my security team so not all of them are hospitalized at the same time due to your brawls in my building's lobby? With few of them able to protect me right now, it would be detrimental to my well-being if my rivals uncovered this change in staff. Such drastic changes means that word will travel back to *her* and I do not want her involved.

@psychcdelica said: Does ultimate mafia boss Sonia accept Yukizome sensei in her mob? Sensei needs a new job :3c
Unprompted headcanon asks: Accepting!
With what Sonia knows about the inner-workings of the Borghese Family, she’d probably ask her teacher if she was completely sure about her decision. The Borghese Family, formerly the Nevermind Family, is run exclusively by women after her mother staged a coup, murdered her father, and took over. While men are accepted as soldiers and liaisons to the Family, all of the upper-level decisions are made by women. So Yukizome-sensei’s got that going for her! The better question is what she wants to do: illegal weapons deals, running clubs and casinos, working for their music and talent label Lotus, shady real estate scams, counterfeit goods, selling prescription opioids, handling loans? Sonia’s the Family’s Underboss until her mother steps down, and has to deal with 90% of the disputes and problems the Family faces (she drinks a lot, watches movies and TV a lot, and tries to form meaningful relationships to deal with it).
They don’t dabble in other illegal drugs or human trafficking, however. They have some morals. Mostly as Sonia would, as soon as she took over from her mother, put an end to both operations. Watching people be forced into selling themselves or getting hooked on drugs is very hard for her to watch, and she’s usually compelled to help.
That said, if you want the verse where Sonia’s usual swimsuit choice is a bikini and she’ll step on you in heels without being asked? This is that Sonia verse. Also see: leather skirts.

@traumagiven said: ∗ 18﹕ which of your verses or arcs is your favorite to write about ?
Experience Yourself Munday Meme - Accepting!
Ooh, good question!
Usually my favorite verses to write in are ‘Non-Despair AU: The Princess of Novoselic’ (My Non-Despair adult verse), Post Neo World Program verse (My Post-SDR2 verse but pre-DR3 finale, if the events of the anime are to be followed), and my Talentswap!AU - Ultimate Mafia Boss verse. And depending on my mood and my writing partner, Sonia’s historical verses as well.
I really like looking at how Sonia, and by extension her Hope’s Peak classmates, proceeded with their lives post-high school. For students who were told they had to be the best of the best at their talents, I’m always wondering if they peaked in high school or went on to accomplish great things. Or did they even stick with their talent as a career later on? Anime in general isn’t great at showing rich, fulfilling lives post high school or university (Japanese culture has a lot to do with that, but I think/hope that’s changing soon!), but I think those are stories worth telling. Especially for high school-aged muses.
And for someone who enjoys writing quite a bit of angst, the post-game verse is always a fun one to explore. Dark and troubling and trying to find their way back to a happy life, but fun regardless. It’s also fun to think about if Despair could well and truly go away after the events of SDR2, which is a topic I’m currently exploring with @despairfiles in our Fate/DR canon crossover verse.
Despite the fact I don’t get a lot of reasons or opportunities to write Sonia’s talentswap, I have to admit it’s an exciting one to indulge in. I originally wasn’t planning to give her a Talentswap verse to begin with, but several mutuals I really enjoyed/enjoy (not many of them are active now unfortunately!) writing with had some for their DR canon muses, with a tone and setting that really resonated with me: darker plots, elements of teen drama, and generally higher dramatic stakes. Originally I’d been presented with the idea to make Sonia an Ultimate Yakuza, but that didn’t quite work for me and the stories I wanted to tell. So Ultimate Mafia Boss it is, and it’s been a really intriguing challenge for me to take elements of her canon personality and history and my headcanons and have them show up in an entirely new talent and backstory. It’s not a verse I bring out often, it’s mostly for talentswap AUs in general or crossovers that work really well (like the DR/Tokyo Revengers crossover thread I have with @phantasmalcalamity). This is now making me miss the muns who inspired me to do a Talentswap in the first place :(
I’ve got plenty of other crossover verses and such as well. The ones I enjoy writing the least are SDR2 game canon threads (unless it’s setting something up for a future dynamic between characters, I feel like this story has already been told through the game) and Pre-Despair or Non-Despair high school AUs. Mostly because I get burned out on ideas of stuff for high schoolers to do that makes sense, is believable, and keeps tension and interest going for a longer thread. I don’t like recycling plots if I don’t have to, but this verse generally makes me recycle ideas more than any of the other ones I’ve got. Crossovers and OCs tend to make this verse more engaging for me, as it’s usually involving Sonia meeting someone new. But, I’m always really surprised/happy when I get a DR canon muse to write with whom I haven’t written much with in the years I’ve had this blog. This just happened with a Mukuro Ikusaba and I was very happy to finally find a Mukuro to write with!

@cadcnce said: Have you ever considered a verse where Sonia gets disowned from her family or otherwise estranged? What would it be like and how would she change if she didn’t have the wealth and status behind her?
Unprompted headcanon asks: Accepting from mutuals!
I’ll answer this in three ways, depending on how much detail you or other people want to read:
Short answer: Yes, but in very specific contexts. No, she’s not great at looking after herself (she doesn’t magically learn how to cook and clean like Cinderella).
Medium answer: Yes, but I don’t write those too much because of headcanon lore I have for Sonia and her family, much of which hasn’t appeared on the blog (yet) in either threads or in headcanon posts, as well as the fact that in many canon portrayals (fanart, fanfic, other roleplayers) it’s already been done. A lot.
Long answer:
I’ll need to break this down a few different scenarios.
In a non-Danganronpa canon (that is, no killing game) and with my headcanons, Sonia being disowned or estranged from her family would result in her Uncle Arthur in power. He hasn’t appeared much in threads yet (mostly as I haven’t had a good reason to introduce him), but this is not a good thing for the country Sonia’s father, King Alexandre, is trying to create and that she wants to uphold and expand upon. The only people who want Arthur in power are Arthur and his very wealthy and powerful supporters. A lot of his reforms would strip away what makes Novoselic special and a wonderful place to live for people of all backgrounds and walks of life, and unless I’m writing a storyline where Sonia has to stage some sort of coup to get her back into power, it’s a real downer of a plot. @electricea and I have briefly chatted about this as an AU, albeit with a happier ending. Because princess movies are a weakness.
Now, Sonia is threatened to get disowned or estranged in some verses, or at least is very much seen as a disappointment in the eyes of her family. In most verses I have with @madamhatter , this is the case due to narrow-minded traditions of what a queen’s role should be.
But going past my regular non-canon verses, Sonia does actually get disowned and estranged from her family in my Talentswap verse where she’s the Ultimate Mafia Boss. When I started writing for this blog 2.5 years ago, talentswaps for Danganronpa muses was a popular option: a lot of blogs had at least one, of not more, possibilities for different talents for their muses. However, this plotline has yet to get played out because while I plotted it with a mun, that particular blog isn’t currently active and hasn’t been for awhile (which is too bad, it would have been a really great story!). Sonia being estranged would have been Sonia’s choice, and while she wouldn’t have had the power, she’s far more sharp and shrewd in her Talentswap verse: she makes sure she’s taken care of (while fucking over the rest of her family, to boot). Mostly as she has to go into hiding in order to survive. She does have several professions afterward, mostly for personal fulfillment rather than needing to pay bills.
***Friendly reminder I do have a Talentswap verse option available with plenty of its own contained lore. It’s also a much darker storyline for a non-canon/non-killing game verse, if that’s possible. That’s not for everyone but it’s available!***
The last point I want to make regarding my headcanons though: in most of my Sonia verses, she’s not exactly on the best terms with her family in entirety. She begins to understand more about why the dynamics are so unhappy and uncomfortable the older she becomes (her thinking is far more black and white at 15-17 than it is at 23-25, for example, as she understands a bit more about life and how the world works). So while she’s not fully cut off, she’s not exactly in some of her family’s highest favor. A lot of this has to do with lore I have for her that, again, hasn’t had an opportunity or reason to appear in threads yet: such as, why she attended Hope’s Peak Academy in the first place (no, you cannot ask her point blank about this until reasons resurface. She’s actually held to an agreement where she cannot talk about it).
Finally, I don’t really explore this option, especially in canon verses, due to other Sonia portrayals. As much as I can explain this without SDR2 spoilers, a lot of fanart, fanfiction, and roleplay portrayals here feature Sonia being estranged/disowned by the end of the game and having to make a life elsewhere, with her friends or a certain organization (the FF). When I decided I wanted to write for Sonia 2.5 years ago, that was a plot option I simply wasn’t interested in exploring because it just had already been done. A lot. In most post-SDR2 portrayals I’d seen.
Inversely, not a lot of portrayals focused or wanted to focus on the royalty aspect, on what her life was like as a member of a Royal Family and how that changes and develops both post-canon and in non-canon, post-Hope’s Peak verses. And I wanted to explore that instead.
I do have one option on my wishlist where this happens, but it involves finding the right muse and mun to write it with. Mostly as I’m looking for time-travel with mechanics similar to Outlander, cross-century romance, and to a degree, soulmates. And I just haven’t found someone familiar with it and interested in writing it long-term.

Send me "BUNNIES!" and I will tell you about a plot bunny I've had
I’ll start my replies to this meme not with a specific plot in mind, but more of a general reminder. Because it’s my blog and I do what I want.
That being said, especially for new mutuals, have you checked out my verses yet? I admit I’m lazy and I haven’t updated it with my tagging system (and I may never will), but there’s some crossovers and AUs over there I barely get to use!
And one in particular is my TalentSwap for Sonia.
I’ve mostly used it in threads with @hcpefulmarshmallow and @the-taboo-king so far, but I’d love to bring out Ultimate Mafia Boss Sonia Nevermind for the right muse interactions/dynamics. Preferably with other TalentSwap DR muses but I’m open to other ideas and interactions if that interests mutuals. I’d just keep in mind that especially if it’s a school-based plot, you’re going to see less of classroom hijinks/camaraderie from Sonia. Sonia in this verse is very much a teenager living in an adult world (if this isn’t an adult verse for her) and deals with violence, crime, sex, alcohol dependency, and more on a consistent basis. This sort of verse is best if you like teen dramas along the lines of Riverdale, Gossip Girl, and Elite (Sonia in this verse is heavily inspired by Elite’s Carla!).
Basically, don’t expect anime slice-of-life here and we’re good. I like writing a lot of complicated angst ships for this verse but people behaving badly in general is great too. Show me your TalentSwaps!
And I think I need to break out this icon for responding to this meme.

Because chatting with Jace reminded me and it seems sinday-appropriate:
Sonia also has a Talentswap!AU available for those who enjoy talentswap verses. If you’re ever interested in interacting with Sonia Nevermind, Ultimate Mafia Boss and underboss to a prominent European crime family, I’m usually eager to write that verse. I generally just need to know what your content preferences/limits are, as it tends to be a darker, grittier verse for her.
She’s not as naïve as her princess counterpart (she’s seen and done some shit that she can’t forget), but she’s pretty fun.
And for all of you with muses obsessed with being stepped on, that’s the Sonia most likely to do that.

NICKNAMES. Sonia-chan, Miss Sonia (by Kazuichi. Don’t do this.), She-Cat, Dark Queen (by Gundham. Please do this if you are Gundham. Her heart flutters a bit each time!), Bluebird (by Wylan, after Sonia expressly forbade him from giving her any royal or aristocratic-themed nicknames), Homegirl (by Ryuji, which Sonia currently assumes is a nickname because out of her 30+ languages she has at least some fluency in, she’s still learning Ryuji-isms).

In the Fate/DR crossover of this verse, she has a scar on her left shoulder from where Shirou Emiya attempted to assassinate her (she still doesn’t know he was the assailant. The drama!). Talentswap!AU: a scar on her upper right arm from a grazed bullet and under her left breast from an attempted stabbing. Most of her other cuts and injuries sustained from her talent/line of work heal nicely.

@ibukiiiiiiii said: What little things do you do special when writing your muse(s) that you wonder if anyone has noticed? - ibukiiiiiiii
Munday Stuff!
Truthfully, I don’t really ever wonder if anyone’s noticed certain things? There’s things I include when writing Sonia mostly as a way to tell her story, but that’s more because I wanted to do it that way and felt it was important to my portrayal of her versus hoping or wanting others to notice.
But what I do include and how I do so can be boiled down to this: Sonia talks quite a lot. She loves meeting new people, she loves the company of others, and she can be a giant chatterbox full of exchanging information and asking questions. She’s a cheerful, inquisitive muse who, as part of her family’s traditions and personal interests, never stops learning.
That said, there are things she doesn’t say. Either she hasn’t realized it or she can’t bring herself to say or admit certain things, whether it’s her feelings or the realities of her life that she, to some degree, accepts, but to others she’s controlled, stifled, oppressed in various ways.
So I try to say some of those through her appearance, especially in her clothing and chosen accessories.
While Sonia is wealthy and I do name-drop labels in several instances, each one of them is chosen not because they’re luxury, but because that particular fashion house really speaks to Sonia or the Royal Family in what they value. Heritage and tradition to be sure, but Sonia herself likes traditionally feminine fashions, jewel tones, and pale, pastel colors. You’re not really going to see her in too many Earthy tones (barring her brown school uniform) and of course, she’s hardly going to wear black. But certain colors and fabrics are a big indicator of her mood, if she wants to be seen as a Princess (or must be seen as a Princess), she wants to be seen as herself/for her personality, and in romantic ships, if she wants to be seen as a woman and romantic partner. She’s in a passionate mood? She’s wearing red and deep pinks. Thoughtful? blues and some greens. I’m going to make you listen to me? Jewel tones. Shy? Pastels.
Some of it isn’t her choice in the prose, she’ll be made to wear something by her stylists and such, but as a writer I’m making a conscious decision to put her in certain outfits.
The same goes for some of her accessories that appear often, or beauty choices. I don’t really have Sonia getting multiple piercings, tattoos, or cutting/dyeing her hair based on regulations her family and Royal Council have for her. Most of the time, she’s happy to go along with it because it makes her feel good about herself but she’ll wish, on occasion, to try something else for the sake of trying it.
The exception being her TalentSwap!AU as the Ultimate Mafia Boss. Sonia actually does have a tattoo in that verse: a purple orchid on the back of her neck, in accordance to other high-ranking members of the Borghese family so they are easily identified (those tattoos are intricate and hard to replicate!). But the reason why Sonia’s flower is that particular color and variety is all tied into symbolism, particularly the Victorian language of flowers. You’d think that with her Despair!gown motifs, it would be roses, but it’s not.
Also, her mother’s flower is the rose and Sonia would very much like to distance herself from Valentina as much as possible.
Kind of a long-winded answer, but the point being is that when I put in details about her clothes, accessories, even her living space, part of it is to illustrate the scene a bit better but a larger part of it is to communicate feelings and values Sonia can’t bring herself to say.
#more-than-a-princess answered#more-than-a-princess musings#ibukiiiiiiii#(Munday Stuff!)#(I hope that works for an answer?)#(Though there are times I'll include visual details that have no deeper meaning whatsoever too. Mostly because I thought 'pretty!')#(But a lot of them. Yes. There's some meaning behind it. Sometimes with a lot of layers to unpack.)

@againthemartyr said: What is an AU you really want to play with your muse?
Munday! (Accepting)
I know I’ve said it before, but: Non-fantasy, non-magic, non-medieval Historical AUs. I love European history, particularly anything that’s made into historical fiction, a TV drama, or a costume/period piece film. Magic and fantasy just aren’t my cups of tea when it comes to RP (some urban fantasy aside. Mostly because I wrote in the Harry Potter fandom for a long, long time and I’m burned out on it), but something from the 16th Century onward, and in particular, 18th Century to early 20th? YES. Rococo, Regency, and various periods of the Victorian era I absolutely love. Partly why I gravitate to Hakuoki and Code: Realize AUs: even though there’s supernatural elements in them and it’s not exactly period-accurate, it’s a start.
And since I’ve been digging through my old tags and aesthetics recently: Sonia’s talentswap!AU. This is very much for muns who don’t mind a giant departure from canon, but I love my Ultimate Mafia Boss girl.
Finally, I’ve been very interested in AUs, or just storylines, I’ve lifted from books or TV shows that I’ve yet to write. I’d love to write a ship storyline where an adult Sonia is supposed to be getting married in a grand, over-the-top royal wedding and her intended spouse never shows up. She’s likely convinced herself that she’s in love with them as they’re the ideal choice for her family and her country, but behind the scenes they either never wanted to go through with it or even better, they’re part of a conspiracy plot to overthrow the Novoselic Royal Family. She ends up being assisted (or rather, targeted) by a muse completely unfit to be a royal (or so she thinks) to uncover why she was really disgraced on her wedding day. Bonus for having to live in relative seclusion for months until the press dies down, because clearly: let’s blame the future monarch for her ruined wedding (For more, check out the book The Royal Runaway, where this plot is lifted from!).
I’d also like to write a storyline where her father passes away unexpectedly outside of a post neo world program verse. It would be a very different atmosphere of Sonia assuming the throne far earlier than she was ever supposed to, but it would change her life instantly as well as her various friendships and relationships/love interests. This would probably be in her university or adult verses (I’m less interested in writing this in high school, tbh. Her mother would be regent until she turned 18 and that’s...not wise).

THE POSITIVE & NEGATIVE; Mun & Muse - Meme.
fill out & repost ♥ This meme definitely favors canons more, but I hope OC’s still can make it somehow work with their own lore, and lil’ fandom of friends & mutuals. Multi-Muses pick the muse you are the most invested in atm.
My muse is: canon / oc / au / canon-divergent / fandomless /
Is your character popular in the fandom? YES / NO / Depends. I think fans usually love Sonia or hate her.
Is your character considered hot™ in the fandom? YES / NO / IDK.
Is your character considered strong in the fandom? YES / NO / In some aspects.
Are they underrated? YES / NO.
Were they relevant for the main story? YES / NO.
Were they relevant for the main character? YES / NO /
Are they widely known in their world? YES / NO.
How’s their reputation? GOOD / BAD / NEUTRAL / Verse-dependent. Mostly good, unless Despair-verse or post-Neo World Program/post-SDR2 for canon verses or Talentswap!AU for my Ultimate Mafia Boss AU. Sonia's reputation is pretty terrible in these.
How strictly do you follow canon?
I do the best I can, considering that for most Danganronpa characters, there's limited information unless they're a protagonist. Considering DR, depending on the timeline of Sonia's class, takes place in various settings, realities, and states of mind, it can be a challenge to keep everything consistent. While I don't do a lot of threads that take place strictly in the SDR2-verse, where I do try to keep events canon to how they unfold in the game and as precisely as Sonia is presented as I can, other verses tend to be a bit more canon-divergent in order to fill in character building gaps that the game and anime don't really offer. The biggest change I tend to do is that unless I'm writing a thread of Sonia's arrival or first year at Hope's Peak or during the Neo World Program of SDR2, I don't tend to write many of her slang or word mix-ups. While Sonia reads and writes her 30+ languages better than she speaks them, I still believe she picks up on foreign languages easily and learns from her mistakes. She's a smart person, considering all of her talents mentioned in the SDR2 game alone. I also tend to disregard some of Hajime's free-time events with Sonia, particularly in terms of the hero legend and how she would allow the fabled hero to immediately marry and rule with her. My Sonia, for the most part, is a self-rescuing princess (and has a tendency to want to rescue everyone else too!).
SELL YOUR MUSE! Aka try to list everything, which makes your muse interesting in your opinion to make them spicy for your mutuals.
Is your muse looking for a friend and/or significant other who's just fascinated by everything they do and will support them no matter what? Someone who doesn't care about where you come from, your family, your looks, your socio-economic status but only who you are? Someone generous, kind, gentle, optimistic, smart, well-read, well-mannered, and will always be your muse's biggest cheerleader? Then your muse will definitely want to meet Sonia Nevermind, Hope's Peak Academy's Ultimate Princess and occult and serial killer-lover extraordinaire. She's poised to inherit a European country that thrives under absolute monarchy, a ridiculous amount of wealth and prestige, her own military, and more homes and assets than one person, and one family, really need. But get her talking about her favorite books/movies/TV shows, particularly horror and romantic dramas, and she'll be ecstatic. She loves exploring haunted locales, questioning the motives and methods of serial killers (real and fictional! I hope you've seen Friday the 13th, Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, etc. Is your muse Team Freddy or Team Jason?), and experiencing a 'normal' lifestyle unbefitting of a royal. Novoselic has no amusement parks, so your muse can really wow Sonia by introducing her to her first roller coaster! While she can't actually participate in Freemasonry or murdering people (Despair and Talentswap verses aside!) due to her title, she's still quite intrigued by it all. And like any proper Novosonian, she adores her chocolate and her wine. She's got a massive sweet tooth, perfect for her usual sweet and kind demeanor.
Now the OPPOSITE, list everything why your muse could not be so interesting (even if you may not agree, what does the fandom perhaps think?)
She's not terribly edgy or sarcastic in most of her verses. It's very easy for Sonia to get duped by someone, as she's quick to consider people friends unless otherwise shown differently. She's very poised and polite due to her upbringing and doesn't often act on every impulse she has or speak her mind, especially if her opinion is divisive or negative, unless she trusts your muse. It's easy for her to accept friends into her life and far more difficult to accept romantic love, as she's frequently facing people who love her for her looks, title, and apparent purity, which frustrates her. She doesn't want to be put on a pedestal, she simply wants to be treated normally. She also doesn't get into too many fights, especially if she's been slighted. This is not a muse who's going to throw a punch, but she's excellent with firearms of all sorts. Pistols? Check. Rifles? Mastered them. Rocket launcher? Her favorite! And of course, she learned how to drive a tank before she could drive a car. If you're looking for a meek and shy muse to write with, Sonia's not that type. She's reserved in some things, but if your muse is really out of line? She'll call them out on it. She also has a tendency to want to lead in everything (it's a struggle for her to give up control, she can't help it!) and is a workaholic unless your muse distracts her.
Sonia has a fair amount of Rich People Problems. If that doesn't interest you or your muse, you may not enjoy interacting with her. But she remains as humble as she can about it all. She's terrible at putting herself first and admitting feelings for anyone, automatically assuming the person she cares for wouldn't want to be close to her, platonically or romantically, because of how complicated her life is as a future monarch. There's a lot of press, official appearances, and times she has to be a Princess before a person. She never wants to feel like a burden to your muse, which can sometimes come off as passive. But in life or death situations? Her bravery comes through.
And let's not go into how her Despair verse could be potentially triggering to some muses and/or muns. Sonia's absolutely disgusting when in Despair: lots of gore, lots of torture, lots of death, lots of blood, and a fair amount of sex with bad intentions. She's a gross human being (and has to deal with all of that in a post-Neo World Program verse!).
What inspired you to rp your muse?
I've been roleplaying for a pretty long time (not necessarily all on tumblr, but for awhile. I'm old!), and I've played action/fighting muses, know-it-all/brainy/witty muses, and muses who border on the mean girl trope with a heart of gold. But I've never really played a sincerely kind and good person. I tend to prefer writing female characters (I'm just more comfortable writing women than men most of the time!) and I've always had an interest in royalty and European history since I was a child. I played and watched Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc originally and while I found it fun, it didn't really hold my attention for long. It took 5-6 years or so for me to try out SDR2, and upon getting introduced to Sonia it was just a perfect fit. I love how kind and open-minded she is, how much she believes in the best of everyone, and how her interests in the occult, serial killers, anime, and dramas are a stark contrast to her royal upbringing. So many royal characters are complete snobs with no interest in commoners, which was never the sort of muse I wanted to write. But I loved the idea of Sonia's fish out of water situation of being the only foreigner in her class (and likely most of the school), who's just so happy to be there even though she gets various customs wrong and is just plain weird due to her personal interests. Additionally, I have a strong interest in horror, the occult, and serial killers myself, so it's been fun incorporating my thoughts on what Sonia would like outside of what the game and anime offered.
What keeps your inspiration going?
This might be corny, but it's Sonia's innate curiosity about the world and everyone in it. Admittedly, I'm not terribly up to date on current and popular anime (and I've only played DRV3 once, so I don't know those muses as well, and I never completed that game's Talent Development Plan), so it's hard when I don't always know the franchise of the other muse Sonia's interacting with, but she's still so fascinated about others and is inclined to ask questions and take on new experiences. But when I'm feeling stuck on inspiration, I'm returning to books, movies, and TV shows. For Sonia specifically, I watch and read a lot of historical and royal-focused dramas, as well as horror and classic literature. I also follow blogs featuring royal history and modern royal coverage (though when it turns too gossipy, I tend to cringe!) for plot ideas.
Still, it's the hardest for me to interact with other muses whose muns automatically assume I'm familiar with their fandom, especially when it's popular. I tend to do a fair amount of apologizing in that case, as most of my favorite anime are considered old or classic at this point.
Some more personal questions for the mun.
Give your mutuals some insight about the way you are in some matters, which could lead them to get more comfortable with you or perhaps not.
Do you think you give your character justice? YES / NO.
Do you frequently write headcanons? YES / NO.
Do you sometimes write drabbles? YES / NO.
Do you think a lot about your Muse during the day? YES / NO.
Are you confident in your portrayal? YES / NO.
Are you confident in your writing? YES / NO / Most of the time!
Are you a sensitive person? YES / NO.
Do you accept criticism well about your portrayal?
Not terribly. In general, if someone doesn't like my portrayal, I question why they're following me (especially if we aren't writing together). I'm much more the type to respect someone's space if they decide to unfollow and/or softblock than want criticism of my portrayal. Of course, it's different if I'm writing with someone for awhile and we have multiple threads and character development, I'm a little more open to criticism but likely won't change my portrayal based on it.
Do you like questions, which help you explore your character?
I do! In general though, I tend to prioritize threads and IC asks over OOC, starting with what I've got muse to write with first. I have anon turned off and so I don't really get a lot of random questions about my muse anymore unless I've posted a meme asking for muse headcanons, but when I do get them, I try to answer them to the best of my ability.
If someone disagrees to a headcanon of yours, do you want to know why?
Not really. It's okay to disagree with my headcanon, that's totally valid! But if it gets to the point where I'm being told how to write my muse, I get annoyed. When I write with a mun, I accept their headcanons in our threads, no questions asked. I prefer the same courtesy with my muse and their headcanons too.
If someone disagrees with your portrayal, how would you take it?
Doesn't really matter to me. My general assumption is, is if someone disagrees with my portrayal, they likely won't write with me, follow me, or accept ask meme submissions from me.
If someone really hates your character, how do you take it?
We probably aren't roleplaying together. They likely either don't want to write with a Sonia or my version of her, and that's ok! What isn't ok is gossip and anon hate. I've turned off anon for this reason and won't turn it back on unless I need to (for example, a mutual I trust wants to send something on anon IC). It's a significant weight off my shoulders, not dealing with OOC anon rudeness.
Are you okay with people pointing out your grammatical errors?
Sure! No one's perfect. The only one that bothers me is different spelling for US English and UK/AUS/CAN English. I'm from the US and it's just easier to write in that, so I don't get anything wrong.
Do you think you are easy going as a mun?
I like to think so! I'm pretty easygoing and understanding of things like hiatuses, no writing inspo, etc, as long as I'm told that's what it is. Of course, I have my preferences for writing style (I don't do much one-liners or crack RP, just not my thing. I write a lot and try to avoid purple prose as much as I can!), but otherwise I like to plot, to wing it, coming up with new AUs and ships, etc. I also like chatting fandoms and such OOC as well! Admittedly I'm not great when it comes to mental health struggles, as I go through them myself and while I'm pretty high-functioning, RP and tumblr is my escape from my career and horrible stuff IRL, keeping me grounded and such. I like roleplaying, chatting fandoms and fun things, and just having a good time over here and on discord.
That’s about it, congrats for filling out!
