Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I will mention that Rolf Ohst's other work isn't "comfortable" which is a large part of what I like of the piece I've included here. He has a lot of fat surrealist nudity.
I've seen a recreation of Laocoon and His Sons in person! I love the movement and the struggle.
If I bought a recreation to hang in my home, it would be (a Van Gogh or) The Lament for Icarus. Divine and human, mortal and eternal, tragic and beloved.
All of Lucy Liu's paintings struck a chord me. The response her collection that came after this one received, was something so familiar to creators of se/xu/al material that have been censored for commercialism, especially when they depict non-straight intimacy.
I'm tagging a bunch of people, I want to know what your favorite four works are! @umbralstars, @razrogue, @tepkunset, @retconomics, @neechees
@cherrypikkins, @xmaveria, @littleplasticrat, @lucius-the-sinful, @jackalopedread
@the-eldritch-it-gay, @sp3llw0rk, @bladesandstars, @paleiido, @bloodcathedrals
@boghermit, @luinen-bluewater, @ghostwise and YOU!

The Contestants Are Here!
Thank you for your patience, I'm now ready to announce our contestants for the Obscure Character Showdown! There are 300 characters, split up into 6 groups of 50.
Here's how the schedule will work: Day 1 is Group A Round 1 Part 1, Day 2 is Group A Round 1 Part 2, Day 3 is Group B Round 1 Part 1, Day 4 is Group B Round 1 Part 2, Day 5 is Group C Round 1 Part 1, and so on and so forth until we reach Group F Round 1 Part 2, and then the next day we'll fold back over for Group A Round 2. I'm splitting up the rounds because tumblr can interpret posting many polls at once as spamming, and each group contains 25 polls, so. 13 one day, 12 the next.
I expect to start polls by Wednesday, May 31, but I may be a little later than that. I'll keep you updated.
The polls will be tagged with 'obscurecharactershowdown,' 'obscure poll,' and their group letter and round number.
Under the cut is the groups and matchups. Thank you all for your submissions, and I'm sorry if your submission didn't get in! If it was a submission for your OC, a mythological figure, a Real Life Thing, an album character, a commercial character, etc, then you may not be out of the running yet. Be patient, I have something else I'm working out!
Please don't come into my inbox, replies, dms, etc, and tell me that a character I chose isn't actually obscure at all. No one's media experience is universal, and from my own experiences, I picked to the best of my ability.

"your top 15 favourite tv shows can say a lot about your personality!"
i've been tagged by @plavoptice and @aimmyarrowshigh and boy are y'all in for a ride. in no particular order:
diagnosis: murder -- first live action non-soap that was appointment television for me. it ran from 1993-2001 on cbs and i've seen every episode. dick van dyke plays a doctor who helps his son (played by his actual son barry) solve crimes.
the simpsons -- my dad loved this show while we were growing up and we watched every episode until i was in high school.
the young and the restless and all my children -- abovementioned soaps. these are the soaps my mom watched. she would record them on the vcr (they ran back to back on different stations) so she could watch them later without commercials. i have been watching shemar moore since i was 7 years old.
survivor -- for DECADES i watched every episode. i was in 8th grade when season 1 aired. the last 4 or so seasons i haven't bothered watching, though. when people who hadn't been alive when the first season aired started being cast i just couldn't. :|
band of brothers -- since i met a couple of the surviving members of easy company in 2004, bob has held a special place in my heart. it took like 14 years for me to latch onto the show in a fandom capacity. between 2004 and 2018 i would most often view it as i napped on the couch while it ran on spike tv or something as a marathon over memorial weekend, the fourth of july, or veterans' day.
grey's anatomy -- watched a bunch of this in college because some girls on my hall freshman year were superfans. <3 please note i began college during season 1.
the walking dead -- i found the first 3 episodes online in fall of 2010 after a friend on livejournal had tagged it as potentially interesting due to the casting of norman reedus. i didn't know who he was. i don't regret starting the show, but i do regret staying on past season 6, even though there were 2 episodes in season 10 that were like ... exquisite.
deadliest catch!!! -- i fly southwest mostly and there's always a couple of episodes available to watch for free. i just ... idk, it's cold and wet and super dangerous and the captains are so fucking catty with each other. i just like it (still).
law and order: svu -- my comfort show. i have probably seen every episode.
pitch -- we got one season, and were robbed.
chicago fire -- while i watched med first, and i'm currently flying through pd, fire is ... well, it's something.
rescue me -- speaking of fire ....
big love -- i've re-watched just once, it might be time for another.
the wire -- my first watch was later than it should have been.
lost -- of course. the first couple of seasons were amazing, and then i learned that the creators didn't have an end in mind and uh... by the end of season 3 that was very, very clear. i still don't understand the finale.
i'm taking the cheap way out and tagging anyone who wants to. please tag me if you choose to complete this!!

“Mobster from Dimension X”
Tumblr media
Season 10, Episode 6  First US Airdate: October 19, 1996
The Turtles battle an alien amoeba crime boss who seeks to steal a supercomputer on behalf of Lord Dregg.
The tenth season of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles continues with “Mobster from Dimension X”. As with the rest of this year’s episodes, this outing is credited to Jeffrey Scott.
Tumblr media
At a college campus, Professor Huxley is seen unveiling a revolutionary “protein computer”, watched from afar by Donatello as the other Turtles reluctantly tag along. Huxley goes on to demonstrate how a headset can allow him to link up the computer and mentally control anything connected to it such as lights and air conditioning. A group of laser-gun wielding gangsters show up to steal the computer, but their efforts are thwarted by the Turtles, with both parties escaping when the police arrive.
Tumblr media
Back in the Lair, the Turtles try and determine why the gangsters had targeted the computer when an early warning system sounds, informing them that traces of transporter energy have been detected. Convinced that this is a sign Dregg may have returned after being banished to Dimension X in the previous episode, the green teens head off to investigate.
Tumblr media
At their hideout, the group of gangsters try to downplay their inability to steal the computer to their boss, a bright green slime monster in a suit and fedora named The Globfather. One of the men is punished by being turned into a pile of goo, and the others are warned the same fate will meet them should they fail in the future. The Globfather reveals that he was sent to Earth to retrieve the protein computer “by someone who is willing to pay dearly for it”; his underlings are promised that if they succeed, he’ll provide them with enough alien weaponry to easily take over the city. The crooks are instructed to try and steal the computer again, this time under the direct supervision of their boss.
Tumblr media
The crooks leave moments before the Turtles arrive in their van, having determined that the teleportation activity they detected took place in the hideout. Once inside, the team find the puddle of goo that was once a member of the mob group on the floor, and are shocked as the puddle of slime manages to utter a few words, revealing the name of the criminal kingpin and his intent to steal the computer from Huxley’s lab before reverting to being lifeless ooze once more.
Tumblr media
At “Computer Science Lab”, Huxley is seen continuing to conduct his research, his son Ronnie hanging around nearby and playing with a radio-controlled car. Dressed as military officials, the gangsters infiltrate the facility and inform Huxley that it's under attack, offering to escort him safely outside. Dressed in uniform, the Globfather then reveals his true intentions, his men filing in to steal the computer seconds before the Turtles arrive. Seeking to protect his computer’s “brain” from being damaged during the battle, Huxley secretly places it in the shell of Ronnie’s RC car.
Tumblr media
Act one ends with the Globfather attacking Raphael by wrapping him in goo, which he promises will turn him into an amoeba, “just like [him]”; When the show returns from commercials, the other Turtles are warned that should they touch him they’ll become blobs too. The gangsters make their exit with the computer (minus its brain), with Ronnie leaving soon after; meanwhile the Turtles are left to deal with Raphael’s predicament, which Leonardo resolves with some unintentionally hilarious rapid-fire swishing of his katana blades.
Tumblr media
Reviewing the lab’s security camera footage, the Turtles watch Huxley place his computer’s brain inside the shell of his son’s toy car, before in turn dropping this into his backpack; moments later Ronnie is seen picking up the backpack and leaving the building. The team set out to find Huxley’s child before the Globfather realises what’s happened, contacting April and asking her to have the police help in the search for him.
Tumblr media
At their hideout, the gangsters realise that the computer is incomplete. Globfather presses a tied-up Huxley for information, threatening to turn him into an amoeba too if he doesn’t comply. The Professor coughs up the information about where the brain was stashed, though this leaves the crooks in a position where they still can’t visually identify the boy. Fate intervenes as a Channel 6 news broadcast displays a photograph of Ronnie, with viewers being asked to contact the authorities should they see him. (This marks the penultimate appearance in the series of the Walter Cronkite lookalike newsreader, who quite incredibly is the last recurring human character to appear in the show bar April, having even outlasted Shredder.) Globfather makes his exit, leaving a large portion of goo on Huxley to ensure he doesn’t attempt a double-cross.
Tumblr media
Ronnie is chased by the mobsters but the Turtles intervene, with Leonardo snatching a pair of their laser weapons to use against them. The Globfather arrives in his limousine and is trapped inside by our heroes, but uses his shapeshifting abilities to slide through a vent onto the street before re-forming. He soon changes shape again, rising via a drainpipe before snatching the backpack from an escaping Ronnie as act two ends.
Tumblr media
We begin the final act with Ronnie left dangling from a balcony. Globfather taunts the Turtles, challenging them to make the choice of saving the child or retrieving the backpack, and makes his escape as the team choose the former option. Back at his hideout, the slimy mob boss contacts his “benefactor”, Lord Dregg. The alien warlord outlines the next phase of their plan, as he intends to have Globfather connect Huxley’s invention to the national telephone network. This will allow Dregg to “control all Earthly computers” with his brain, including military defence systems. (This seems to presume that all computers on the planet are hooked up to a dial-up modem which is connected all the time, I really don’t think he’s thought this through.) We also learn that a new Dreggnaught is in the process of being constructed by the microbots, the completion of which will take several days: once it’s done, the vortex transporter will allow for the villain’s return to Earth.
Tumblr media
The Globfather and his men barge into the phone network facility, where the protein computer is hooked up to the system; the mob boss then uses the telepathic headset demonstrated by Huxley in the episode’s opening scene, gleefully declaring that he “can feel [his] mind connecting to millions of computers around the world!”
Tumblr media
I’m becoming increasingly convinced that since leaving Channel 6, April has chosen to fill her free time by becoming addicted to this newfangled “Internet” thing, and is justifying her dependency by telling herself it’s in the name of journalism: rarely nowadays, outside of her direct interactions with the Turtles, do we see her anywhere other than hunkered down in front of her computer in her apartment. That’s exactly where she is as the next scene opens, and when the Internet goes down her response is to immediately whip out her notebook computer (which she helpfully declares incorporates a cellular modem.) Using the device, she views an image of “all the world’s phone lines”, which are being tapped into: seconds later, the Globfather appears on-screen, announcing that all communications systems are now under alien control and threatening reprisal towards anyone who tries to interfere.
Tumblr media
With Globfather preventing anyone from making phone calls, April instead reaches out to the Turtles, as the Turtlecom signal is apparently unaffected. From their van – and despite the warnings of Ronnie – Donatello attempts to establish a connection with the phone network. This somehow grants the crime boss control of the Turtle Van, and he quickly utilises its weapons to blow the rear doors off before setting the vehicle on a collision course with an oncoming truck. After Raphael destroys the on-board computer, the team regains control, steering the van to safety at the last second. Ronnie attempts to advise the Turtles on a plan of action, but the team talk over him, deciding to return to the Lair.
Tumblr media
Dregg teleports in to join the Globfather just as the military is about to claim control of the communications network, and instead uses a weapons satellite to stage a counter-attack. He warns a group of world leaders that the planet’s nations have only fifteen minutes to surrender, threatening to use the satellite to begin destroying cities if they don’t comply.
Tumblr media
In his workshop, Donatello – drawn in one particularly lengthy shot as Raphael, “R” belt and all – constructs his own telekinetic headset which he intends to hook up to the computer system and counteract the efforts of the Globfather. When the headset malfunctions, Ronnie again tries to provide advice, only to be ignored by the Turtles who fumble through and resolve the problem themselves. Tired of being brushed off by our heroes, Huxley’s son quietly makes his exit.
Tumblr media
The leaders of “all nations” managed to agree within that fifteen-minute timeframe to surrender to Dregg, which somehow might be the most implausible thing to occur in this episode about a mob boss made of slime who takes over the world with a computer hooked up to a chunk of meat. Never fear, as the Turtles infiltrate the network facility to begin taking out Globfather’s blaster-wielding goons. Aware that he’s under attack, Dregg prepares to use the satellite space lasers to begin destroying cities as planned. Donatello uses his own mind control helmet to try and counteract this, leading to a brain-off between the two that ends when Ronnie re-emerges, using his RC car to damage Dregg’s control panel. Donatello is then able to assume command, connecting with a mobile vacuum robot that sucks up the Globfather. His plan foiled, Dregg teleports back to Dimension X alongside the robot now containing the defeated mobster.
Tumblr media
Ronnie is reunited with his father, and the Turtles congratulate the Professor’s son for helping them save the day. Michaelangelo is enamoured with the RC car, convinced he could have pulled off the same trick in using it to defeat Dregg, but instead is knocked to the floor by it as everyone laughs and the episode wraps up.
“Mobster from Dimension X” isn’t earth-shattering, but following on from a trilogy where the Turtles were presented with one of their greatest challenges ever, I appreciate that the show is taking an opportunity to slow things down for a bit ahead of the upcoming series finale. Structurally this is the 1987 Turtles as it used to be: some scientist invents a game-changing doohickey, a bad guy makes a play to steal it, and our heroes work to get it back before it can be used for world domination. The key difference of course is that typically in the old days it was Shredder doing the deed, having received his marching orders from Krang, and as this is a Red Sky-era episode there’s a greater emphasis on action than on one-liners.
The Globfather is particularly interesting as he represents an area where late-stage TMNT has an edge over the classic era incarnation of the show. Off-the-shelf mob boss characters alternated with evil scientists throughout seasons three and four and hampered the show by being boring as hell: Don Turtelli, Pinky McFingers and Mad Dog McMutt were just three of this seemingly endless parade of crime kingpins who were barely distinguishable from each other. They presented the Turtles with little challenge and felt out of step with the imaginative and outlandish characters that drew kids to TMNT in the first place. The Globfather takes that same archetype and makes it work within the context of the series: while there’s nothing revolutionary about him, his design is visually solid and the ways in which his slime powers are utilised suggest to me he could have had a long run in the show had he been introduced in the early days. This is a long way of saying that I wish all the Pinky episodes could have been Globfather ones.
Hopefully you enjoyed this breather. Next time, things will begin ramping up again: Dregg returns with yet another scheme as the Turtles fight to prevent the planet from being pulled into a black hole in the penultimate episode of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, “The Day the Earth Disappeared”.

15 questions for mutuals
I was tagged by @pralinesims and @stargazer-sims, thank you so much for the tag!
Are you named after anyone? No, although as a curious fact I was almost born in a van. 😆
When was the last time you cried? I don't remember, as I tend to cry over silly things rather than really serious things.
Do you have kids? No, none. And for the moment I prefer it that way because I'm not much of a babysitter, so a few less of my own.
Do you use sarcasm a lot? No, I learned to recognize some of them over time, but I don't use at all. Only with people I know and with those will understand my sense of humor.
What sports do you play/have you played? Basketball, skateboarding, football, volleyball, ping pong and tennis, now my level of each one if I'm good or bad I'm not asked, so I leave it to your opinion.
What’s the first thing you notice about other people? Their lips, I don't know why, but I do it instinctively. (When masks are used, it's a little more complicated).
Eye colour? Black. (I mean, it's very very dark brown, but you can only distinguish the pupil of the iris with sunlight or fluorescent light, with regular lights are very difficult to distinguish.)
Scary movies or happy endings? I love scary/horror movies! (But the psychological ones, I don't care about the gore ones as they usually have a very poor plot and only focus on blood and misplaced limbs), but I love the ones with happy endings too (unless they contain a lot of "cliché", because then they bore me, especially if I see too many of the same theme in "a loop").
Any special talents? I can spell words out loud if I'm told to do so. Although I suffer from aphantasia, when I hear a word, I imagine it with my open eyes in the back of my brain (it's a little complicated to explain) and I spell it quite easily (no matter if it's long or short). I hear sounds more clearly than voices, i.e. if there is water sounding very faintly I can hear it even though that too (that could be considered a talent?).
Where were you born? Almost in a van, then almost in an elevator and finally in the delivery room of a hospital.
What are your hobbies? Drawing (physical and digital art), videogames, creation of 3D models (hair, clothes, shoes, accessories, objects, etc…. Everything that interests me at the moment and I can create from scratch in general, because I love challenges), and my OCs (Original Characters) and those of others, especially Lea's, because they're the ones we create and share in our games in general, either sims or any simulator that you can make your own character (Ryuuya, Icaro, Noah, Luka, etc… We constantly create many and we always attach to all of them, every time they appear in our sims game when we play with others we recognize them and even create theories if we see interacting with other OCs from other families). If we talk about specifics, currently with SK8 the Infinity (I've been two years and a few months in a row without stopping thinking about the series since I consumed it in 2021 when it came out, drawing, theorizing, roleplaying, writing about them, etc… ) and Kingdom Hearts since I was 8 years old (ditto to what was previously said on SK8, I really care very little when people say Kingdom Hearts doesn't make sense and they haven't played the whole experience, if they consider themselves casual gamers and simply say they're the ones who don't understand the plot, I have no problem), currently they tend to be my two hobby constants to which I dedicate more time (together with my OCs), including it in drawing, videogames and 3D model creation (ie, drawing them and creating and playing with them in the sims, and that's what Lea and I do with everything we are passionate about when we start, we not only limit ourselves to the main characters, we try to recreate almost all the secondary characters if not all, when we gradually create more content for them before bringing them out into the world, also the lots [residentials, commercials and general locations], and accessories they normally use, hair variations, and original characters such as family members, friends etc.. …, you could say that we never get bored because we always find something to do, with our OCs or with one of these two series).
Do you have any pets? Yeah! Currently my "little" dog Yuka, well, "my" not, since I don't own her, she's just another member of the family. Her name is because in Japanese Yuka [床] means floor and she loves to stretch out like a blanket on it (like a blanket, literally), so we decided that would be her name. A few years ago besides Yuka we had a goldfinch named Yuki and a rescued canary we named him Zeus because we rescued him one stormy day, and he died of old age. And well in the past we had more dogs and birds that all died of old age, TriggerWarning except for one of our dogs that a neighbor poisoned her and little by little she became blind, deaf and the vet told us that we had to put her down because she was suffering and %&$%&$%$ I will never forget that, because I was still a child and I suffered a lot with that experience. In the future I would also love to have a cat, but for the moment I would like to give all the love and affection only to Yuka, I'm sure she doesn't think it's bad at all.
How tall are you? 173cm (5'8) [I wish were taller]
Fave subject in school? Art, music, Latin and Greek.
Dream job? Content creator with my OCs, to be able to make comics, books, illustrations and have people love them, identify with them, theorize with them and their struggles, with the story, etc… Or to be able to work solely as an illustrator making money from it. It's my dream job… if I had less lack of concentration, perseverance, patience and opportunity to be able to be diagnosed of what I have by "official way" and so that I can learn to know what is happening to me and how I can deal with my day to day situations, money sucks bc I can't make any of this without it. (Because I'm sure I'm not a lazy, every day I struggle to be able to work as a "normal" human being but I'm incapable of it) for sure I could achieve it, but as I'm not as far as I know and my social skills are almost null, I always stay at the beginning of the road.
I have no idea who's already done this because I spend too much time offline creating CC, writing and drawing so I'll only tag who I know has not done it, tho feel free to do it if you want.
I'll tag @lea-heartscxiv because I know you're someone who haven't done it, every day I see you so I asked and you said me no. But feel free to ignore, tho. I also tag anyone who likes Serial Experiments Lain, you can skip it but you'll be cursed and will never appear on Wired again. [joke, skip it if you don't feel comfortable doing these things]

What Are The Top Benefits Of Choosing A Reconditioned Ford Transit Engine?
Tumblr media
When it comes to engine failure, Ford Transit owners face a difficult decision—whether to buy a brand-new engine, opt for a used one, or invest in a reconditioned engine. A reconditioned engine offers many advantages, providing both reliability and cost-effectiveness. This article will explore the top benefits of choosing a reconditioned Ford Transit engine, breaking down the reasons why it’s a wise choice for vehicle owners. We’ll cover eight key areas of benefit, from performance to environmental impact, to help you make an informed decision. A reconditioned engine, also known as a rebuilt engine, is one that has been carefully disassembled, cleaned, and fitted with new or refurbished parts to restore it to optimal performance. For Ford Transit vans, which are widely used for both personal and commercial purposes, opting for a reconditioned engine can extend the vehicle's lifespan and provide substantial savings. Reconditioned engines are increasingly becoming popular due to their reliability and reduced environmental impact. If you’re facing the need for an engine replacement, a reconditioned engine may be the ideal solution.
Cost-Effective Alternative to a New Engine
One of the most significant benefits of choosing a reconditioned Ford Transit engine is cost savings. Purchasing a brand-new engine can be prohibitively expensive, often costing more than the vehicle's resale value. Reconditioned engines provide an affordable alternative, giving you similar performance without the hefty price tag. A reconditioned engine can cost up to 50% less than a new one, depending on the extent of the reconditioning process and the condition of the original engine. Additionally, opting for a reconditioned engine means you can avoid the hidden costs associated with new engines, such as factory installation charges and the initial high depreciation that occurs when a new part is installed. For vehicle owners or fleet managers looking to minimize expenses while maintaining reliability, a reconditioned Ford Transit engines is the perfect solution.
Improved Reliability and Performance
Many people assume that reconditioned engines may lack the reliability and performance of new ones. However, this is far from the truth. When you choose a reconditioned Ford Transit engine from a reputable supplier, you can expect improved performance and reliability. During the reconditioning process, worn-out components are replaced, and the engine undergoes extensive testing to ensure it meets or exceeds original specifications. The replacement of key engine parts, such as pistons, gaskets, seals, and bearings, ensures the engine is as reliable as a new one. In many cases, a reconditioned engine will even come with a warranty, giving you peace of mind that your investment is protected. Whether you’re using your Ford Transit for heavy-duty work or daily commuting, a reconditioned engine can provide the durability and efficiency you need.
Environmental Benefits
In today's world, where environmental sustainability is a growing concern, opting for a reconditioned Ford Transit engine is a smart choice. Reconditioning an engine requires significantly fewer resources than manufacturing a new one. The process involves refurbishing existing parts and materials, which reduces the demand for raw materials such as metal and oil. Choosing a reconditioned engine also means reducing waste. Instead of discarding an old engine and contributing to landfill, reconditioning allows it to be reused, minimizing the vehicle’s environmental impact. This sustainable approach aligns with the principles of the circular economy, where resources are reused and repurposed. So, when you choose a reconditioned engine for your Ford Transit, you're making an eco-friendly decision.
Quality Assurance and Warranty Options
Another key benefit of choosing a reconditioned Ford Transit engine is the availability of quality assurance and warranty options. Reputable suppliers of reconditioned engines offer warranties that cover parts and labor, often ranging from six months to two years. This warranty provides an additional layer of security and ensures that the engine is of the highest quality. The reconditioning process includes thorough inspections, where skilled technicians identify and replace any worn or damaged components. Advanced diagnostic tools are used to ensure the engine meets industry standards, and each engine replacement undergoes rigorous testing before it’s approved for sale. By choosing a supplier that offers warranties, you can rest assured that your investment is protected and the reconditioned engine is built to last.
Faster Availability and Installation
Compared to ordering a brand-new engine, which can sometimes take weeks to arrive and install, a reconditioned Ford Transit engine is often available for immediate supply and fit. Many suppliers keep reconditioned engines in stock, meaning you can avoid the lengthy wait times typically associated with new engines or custom builds. The installation process is also faster since reconditioned engines are typically prepared to the same specifications as the original engine. This means fewer modifications are needed during the installation, allowing you to get your Ford Transit back on the road as quickly as possible. For fleet operators or business owners who rely on their vehicles daily, the reduced downtime associated with reconditioned engines is a major advantage.
Prolongs the Life of Your Vehicle
Opting for a reconditioned Ford Transit engine is an excellent way to extend the life of your vehicle. Rather than investing in a new van or truck, a reconditioned engine can breathe new life into an older vehicle, allowing you to continue using it for years to come. Ford Transit vans are known for their durability, and replacing the engine can make the vehicle feel like new again. Not only does a reconditioned engine improve performance, but it also eliminates many of the common issues that come with an aging engine. With new seals, gaskets, and other components, a reconditioned engine can reduce the likelihood of breakdowns and ensure smooth operation. This is especially beneficial for businesses that need reliable transportation for daily operations.
Customizable to Meet Your Needs
One of the lesser-known benefits of choosing a reconditioned Ford Transit engine is the ability to customize the engine to meet your specific needs. Since the engine is disassembled during the reconditioning process, it's possible to make adjustments or upgrades based on your requirements. For example, if you need more torque for towing heavy loads, you can request certain modifications to improve the engine's performance. This flexibility is rarely available with brand-new engines, which come pre-assembled with fixed specifications. Reconditioning allows you to work with the supplier to create an engine that suits your driving habits, load capacity, or other performance factors, giving you a more tailored solution for your Ford Transit.
Lower Insurance Costs
Replacing your Ford Transit engine with a reconditioned one can potentially lower your insurance premiums. Many insurance companies recognize that a reconditioned engine can improve the vehicle's overall safety and reliability, reducing the likelihood of accidents or breakdowns. Additionally, since a reconditioned engine is not as expensive as a new one, it may lower the insured value of the vehicle, resulting in reduced premiums. If you’re considering upgrading your Ford Transit with a reconditioned engine, it’s worth checking with your insurance provider to see if you qualify for a lower rate. Over time, the savings on insurance can further offset the cost of the engine replacement, making it a financially sound decision. Read the full article

The Rise of Used Car Dealers: Why They Are Your Best Bet for Affordable Vehicles
Tumblr media
Buying a car is one of the most significant investments many of us will make. Whether it's for commuting, family trips, or leisure, having a reliable vehicle is crucial. However, purchasing a brand-new car may not always be the best option for everyone, especially when budget constraints come into play. This is where used car dealers in Newry come to the rescue, offering a wide array of pre-owned vehicles that provide both quality and affordability.
In recent years, the popularity of used cars has skyrocketed, making them an attractive option for buyers looking for the best value for their money. Let's explore the reasons behind the rise of used car dealers in Newry and why buying a used car could be your smartest choice.
Why Used Cars Are a Growing Trend
Over the last decade, the automotive industry has seen a shift toward pre-owned vehicles. Several factors have contributed to this trend, including economic considerations, environmental consciousness, and advancements in-car technology that make vehicles more durable than ever before. Used car dealerships have been quick to adapt, offering a wide range of vehicles that cater to varying preferences and needs.
In Newry, used car dealers have become the go-to solution for individuals who want to purchase a reliable vehicle without breaking the bank. With numerous options available, buyers can find vehicles that suit their specific requirements—whether it's a compact car for city driving, a family SUV, or even a commercial van for business purposes.
Advantages of Buying from Used Car Dealers in Newry
1. Affordability
One of the most compelling reasons to consider buying from a used car dealer in Newry is the significant cost savings. New cars lose a large portion of their value as soon as they leave the dealership. This depreciation is much slower in used cars, allowing buyers to get more for their money. A car that's just a few years old can cost thousands less than a brand-new one, while still offering great performance and reliability.
Used car dealers in Newry often provide vehicles at competitive prices, making them a smart choice for budget-conscious consumers. Whether you're a first-time buyer or looking to upgrade your current vehicle, a pre-owned car offers incredible value.
2. Variety of Choices
Another advantage of purchasing from used car dealers in Newry is the variety of options available. New car buyers are often limited to a handful of models based on their budget, but used car buyers have access to a much broader selection. Dealerships often carry vehicles from a wide range of makes, models, and years, giving you the flexibility to choose a car that fits your lifestyle and preferences.
Moreover, many used car dealers in Newry have an inventory that includes everything from budget-friendly economy cars to luxury vehicles. This range of choices allows buyers to find exactly what they're looking for without compromising on features or quality.
3. Certified Pre-Owned Programs
Many used car dealers in Newry offer certified pre-owned (CPO) programs, which provide an added layer of confidence for buyers. CPO vehicles undergo rigorous inspections and come with warranties, ensuring that the car you purchase meets high standards of quality and performance. These programs are particularly appealing to buyers who want the peace of mind that comes with buying a reliable vehicle without the new-car price tag.
CPO programs also often include additional perks, such as roadside assistance and service plans, further enhancing the value of buying a used car.
4. Lower Insurance Costs
Insurance premiums are generally based on the value of the car, meaning that used cars typically come with lower insurance costs compared to new vehicles. For budget-conscious buyers, this can result in significant long-term savings. By purchasing from a used car dealer in Newry, you'll not only save on the purchase price of the vehicle but also monthly insurance costs.
5. Better Financing Options
Used car dealers in Newry often offer flexible financing options tailored to the needs of their customers. Whether you have a perfect credit score or are working to rebuild your credit, many dealers provide financing solutions that make it easier to afford a vehicle. Some dealerships may even offer in-house financing, streamlining the process and giving buyers more control over their payments.
For buyers who might not qualify for the best terms on a new car loan, used car financing can offer more manageable rates and terms.
The Importance of Research and Inspection
While the benefits of purchasing a used car are clear, it’s important to approach the process with care. Conducting thorough research is crucial when buying a pre-owned vehicle, and you should always inspect the car or have a mechanic do it before finalizing the deal.
Most used car dealers in Newry are transparent about their inventory, offering vehicle history reports and details about previous ownership, mileage, and any past accidents. Reviewing this information helps ensure that you're making a smart investment in a vehicle that will serve you well for years to come.
It’s also worth considering a pre-purchase inspection. Many mechanics offer this service, and it involves a comprehensive check of the vehicle to identify any potential issues. This step can provide added peace of mind, particularly if you're buying a vehicle outside of a certified pre-owned program.
Environmental Benefits of Used Cars
Beyond the financial advantages, purchasing a used car also has environmental benefits. The production of new vehicles requires a significant amount of resources, including raw materials and energy. By purchasing a used car, you're reducing demand for new vehicles and helping to minimise the environmental impact associated with car manufacturing.
Additionally, modern cars are built to last, and a well-maintained used vehicle can continue to perform efficiently for many years. Opting for a pre-owned car allows you to drive a reliable vehicle while also contributing to environmental sustainability.
Conclusion: Why Used Car Dealers in Newry Are Your Best Option
In conclusion, used car dealers in Newry provide a fantastic opportunity for individuals looking to purchase a quality vehicle at an affordable price. With the advantages of lower costs, a wide selection of vehicles, certified pre-owned options, and flexible financing, buying a used car is often the most practical and economical choice.
The next time you're in the market for a vehicle, consider visiting a used car dealership in Newry. You'll not only find great deals but also the peace of mind that comes with making a smart, informed decision. Whether you're looking for a family car, a work vehicle, or something for leisure, used car dealers in Newry are your best bet for getting the most value out of your purchase.

Choosing the Right Security Gate
If you’re in charge of keeping a commercial property secure, you know the value of high-quality commercial fencing and security gates. Whether yours is a highly secure facility with exterior and interior perimeter fencing and several levels of access control or you need a new automated security gate at an assisted living facility, you have more options than ever before.
Types of Commercial Security Gates
There are a variety of different commercial security gate styles to choose from. Most security gates are made of chain link, steel, or ornamental iron. Which style is right for your commercial property depends on who you want to let in and who you want to keep out.
For example, maybe you need a wider gate at a security checkpoint to give access to cleared employees and delivery vans. Or you just need pedestrian gates/turnstiles to let visitors into your amusement park.
The most common types of commercial security gates include:
Slide Gates
Swing Gates
Pivot Gates
Vertical Lift Gates
Pedestrian Gates
Slide Gates
Slide gates move left or right along a track that’s aligned with the perimeter fence. This type of gate is good for areas where clearance for a swing gate might be an issue. A slide gate is best suited for a flat area such as a driveway or parking lot entrance. The track of a slide gate must be kept free of debris, snow, and ice to work effectively.
Swing Gates
Single or double swing gates can open inward or outward, and extend to 90 degrees. They require a fair amount of clearance, and you should paint lines to indicate where vehicles should wait while the gate opens.
Vertical Pivot Gates
Vertical pivot gates are good for areas where there is not a lot of clearance that would allow a swing gate. The gate pivots open upward and holds until a vehicle passes through, and then it pivots back down. They can be a good option if you don’t want to clear snow around a slide gate track.
Vertical Lift Gates
Vertical lift gates are another option when you don’t have the clearance needed for a swing gate or slide gate installation. Using hydraulics, the gate slides up and down vertical lift gate tracks. These gates are suitable on rough terrain.
Pedestrian Gates
Pedestrian gates, also known as turnstiles, limit the flow of pedestrians into your property to one at a time. This can help you keep track of how many people visit your place of business on a given day. It also allows gate employees to scan for the crowd for security issues, provide wristbands, etc.
Access Control
For an added level of security, most commercial security gates can be installed with an access control system of your choice. You might want a gate attendant to buzz people in. But you could also use the following access control methods to control access to your property:
Ticket machines (for parking garages)
Keypads
Card readers
Vehicle RFID tags
ANPR
Fingerprint readers
Which method of access control you choose will depend on the level of security you need.

Full Biography
TW: exploitative modeling industry, stalking, blackmailing, coercion
Before Olivia Lawani entered the modeling industry, she was a normal girl living in Denmark. Her family, like many, lived paycheck to paycheck, but they were happy and close and that's all a child ever really needs.
It wasn't until Liv turned fourteen that she went from ordinary to something else. She hesitates to say "extraordinary," to her the "extraordinary" are a myth surrounded by luck and a team. And yet, she was one of the unicorns -- discovered at the mall booth she worked at selling hair styling tools on the weekend.
Most people hear that story and assume it was smooth sailing from there, but it was anything but easy. Just like all the other hopefuls, Liv was subjected to countless adults taking her body measurements and lining her up in an almost conveyor belt fashion with other young girls and women to take headshots.
She eventually wound up signed to her first management company, and then she moved to Copenhagen where she lived with ten other girls in a cramped apartment. They became friends because they were all each other had, but the underlying competition was heavy in the air.
Contrary to popular opinion, Liv was not a millionaire or a runway legend overnight. For the first couple of months, Liv was shuttled around the city with her roommates to countless go-sees. Most of the time, she wound up back in the van, waiting for a handful of the others to emerge shy with their new successes. The rest of them did their best not to turn green with envy as their bank accounts crept closer and closer to single digits at the end of the month.
She was just about to give up, modeling was a lonely business that eroded her self esteem, when she finally landed a print campaign. Ironically, it was for hair products.
The success of that first campaign helped develop her portfolio. She then found herself in front of the camera for other commercials, but it wasn't until a popular singer casted her in a music video that some of the world's high-end designers paid attention.
What Liv lacked in the typical "look," she more than made up for with her walk. Hailed as the new generation's Yasmeen Ghauri, Liv made the transition from print to runway at fast speeds.
It was here where things really took a turn. It's no surprise that young models struggle in an oversaturated industry. There's always another young, pretty, talented girl to take your spot. It's no surprise that many girls fall victim to a life of parties and older suitors who pay for their meals, their drugs, and their lifestyles.
Liv expected to leave that behind once she made it, but if anything, it became even worse. She was now expected to book shows on a regular basis. There was always a fashion week somewhere and it hadn't taken long for Liv to become the main financial support for her family. Instead of living paycheck to paycheck, her parents could afford a home and better schools for her younger siblings.
Yet, she was constantly on flights, missing meals during grueling hours, and trying to stay awake back stage. Then, with fame came the cameras and the lights, and the constant hands pawing at her. Managers, paparazzi, bodyguards, and strangers who thought they knew her.
She always noticed the way some managers treated her friends like live-in girlfriends. She also noticed her friends who numbed themselves to the various abuses. Yet, they all begged her to be quiet, and much to her shame she did.
So, when Liv first met her own stalker backstage, her sense of self preservation was dull. She fawned and kept her distance, and when security hauled him off she thought that would be it.
It wasn't, though. She started to notice his face in crowds in front of hotels and brand events. Then, he broke into her home. After him came another one, and another one.
By the time Liv turned 25 she was burnt out, but she never complained. Her family was doing so well. She was doing so well. Yet, the industry was eating her alive, from the outside-in.
Liv always noticed the predators within the industry, but somehow she managed to avoid direct contact with most of them until she didn't. It started when her manager retired. Her new manager was a little too friendly, but he was shark. Liv, like many of the other models, weighed the costs and the benefits. It wasn't until her new manager tried to corner her at an afterparty, hands clawing at her skirt, that something snapped.
She refused to fall in line. She was blacklisted alongside a handful of others and with that came a string of losses. The worst was the lack of security.
She started to notice cars tailing her more and more. With every email that came in asking for her to tell her story, more threatening letters piled up at the door. Then, they started to trail after her family.
So, Liv made the decision to hide for awhile. She was only 29. She could start over.
She went to the French country side to spend time at a guest home of a dear friend, of one Henri Fortier. It was a wonderful summer. One filled with fine wine, jazz music, and a beautiful love that finally had the chance to blossom.
As summer turned to autumn and then to winter, her hiding place was uncovered. Liv made the mistake of thinking she could leave it all behind, but even her escape had its demons.
Her pregnancy was unexpected. What was more unexpected was Xavier Fortier and the demons he unleashed. He explained it had to do with her fame, but really it was because her fame was out of his control and that made her dangerous. Fame he couldn't control meant eyes looking too closely at his rot.
He gave her an ultimatum. Leave or he would expose her location and without her security team she would be completely exposed.
Liv ran once again. This time vowing to rely on no one ever again. She changed her name, and disappeared to a different countryside. Safer waters. She gave birth to her daughter -- Anaya. It's been five years and as the tides change, Xavier Fortier has passed away, she's found herself pulled back to the shore.

8 Types of Careers You Can Pursue With a CDL.
Tumblr media
A CDL allows you to drive large, commercial vehicles for companies and organizations. There's a variety of positions and industries you can enter as a professional with a CDL. If you have your CDL or you're considering pursuing it, learning more about the types of careers where you can use it can be beneficial. In this article, we explain what a CDL is, detail the types of careers you can pursue with one and offer tips for earning your CDL.
What is a CDL?
A commercial driver's license, or CDL, is a credential that shows a person's ability to operate vehicles other than standard personal vehicles. It's necessary for those who want to operate commercial motor vehicles like buses, box trucks and dump trucks. For example, those who are interested in becoming commercial truckers earn their CDL prior to driving semi-trucks or 18-wheelers. By earning your CDL, you gain the skills necessary to operate large vehicles and keep yourself and others safe on the road.
8 types of careers you can pursue with a CDL.
Here are eight types of careers you can pursue with a CDL:
1. Bus driving
Tumblr media
With your CDL, you can operate many types of busses, including tour buses, public transit vehicles and school buses. Bus drivers often use communication and organization skills besides their driving abilities to help passengers and ensure they adhere to safety rules. The national average salary for a bus driver is $43,615 per year.
2. CDL instructing
Tumblr media
CDL instructors are professionals who help new drivers learn how to operate commercial vehicles. They can administer exams and provide training sessions in turning, braking and maneuvering vehicles. The national average salary for a CDL instructor is $65,771 per year.

7. Delivery
Tumblr media
Delivery drivers haul packages and goods from manufacturers to those who order them. They can drive box trucks and other larger vehicles, operate scanning and tagging equipment and carry boxes. The national average salary for a delivery driver is $64,625 per year.
8. Trucking
Tumblr media
As a trucker, you can choose to drive long haul or locally. Long-haul truckers often transport goods through many states and may leave home for weeks at a time to complete their tasks. Local truckers may complete many shorter deliveries and have the opportunity to spend more time near home. The national average salary for a long-haul driver is $79,978 per year. These are some types of trucking you can choose from:
Auto: Truckers who haul autos transport at least half a dozen cars or other vehicles at a time. They often perform deliveries for car dealerships.
Dry van: Dry van hauling is a very common type of trucking in which the driver hauls a rectangular trailer containing packaged, dry goods.
Flatbed: When truckers use flatbed hauling, they transport equipment or machinery by attaching it to a flat, open trailer.
Freight: This type of hauling includes most things that don't fit into or belong in dry van trailers. This may include oversized cargo and hazardous products.
Refrigerated: A refrigeration trucker understands the importance of delivering products on time, as any delay may result in a loss of goods.
Tanker: Tanker trucking is a more hazardous type of hauling because the tanks often hold hazardous liquids and gasses.
Prepare for interviews with practice questions and tips
Tips for earning your CDL.
These are some tips for earning your CDL:
Understand the requirements: CDL requirements for applying and earning the credential can vary depending on which state you reside in, and these requirements can include aspects like your age, citizenship and physical abilities. Ensuring you meet the requirements can help the process of earning your CDL proceed without delay.
Get a copy of the CDL manual: Each state offers its own CDL manual for prospective drivers, and you can often find copies online or at your local DMV office. The manual includes information about how to earn the credential and what you may encounter during testing.
Create a studying schedule: To commit CDL information to memory and avoid cramming prior to the exam, it's best to create a consistent studying schedule. Consider studying for at least one hour each day leading up to the exam.
Learn about the testing structure: The testing structure for CDL certification can vary depending on the state in which you reside, so it's important to learn about each component of the test. For example, some states may include vehicle inspections assessments and specific on-road driving maneuvers.
