Aprende idiomas con software libre y GNU/Linux…

Para Android existen multitud de interesantes aplicaciones disponibles para aprender idiomas. Entere ellas yo destacaría dos sobre todas las demás, una de ellas es Duolingo (gratuita) y la otra ABA English (de pago), por otro lado tenéis también otras bastante buenas como Memrise (gratuita) y otras más. Pero de lo que trata este artículo es de hablar de todas las opciones disponibles para aprender otro idioma o lengua extranjera desde nuestra distribución GNU/Linux con algunos programas interesantes.

Puedes usar muchos recursos, como por ejemplo crearte tus propias smartcards y poner dibujos o imágenes y la palabra correspondiente, algo que se ha empleado en la enseñanza de los más pequeños pero que resulta bastante eficaz también para los mayores, ya que es más fácil para nuestro cerebro relacionar imágenes que solo leer palabras y sus traducciones… Incluso se me ocurre usar el grabador de voz de tu distro para escucharte a ti mismo pronunciando el otro idioma e incluso usar Audacity. En la red ya sabes que cuentas con multitud de páginas webs de ayuda, e incluso de Google Translator, que incluye una función para leer las palabras en cualquier idioma. Pero no queremos esto, lo que buscamos aquí son programas específicos y locales para poder aprender algún otro idioma:

OpenTeacher: es una app de vocabulario para aprender otros idiomas. Se trata de un programa de código abierto y gratuito en el que podrás almacenar listas de palabras en un idioma y su traducción para repasar.

Perroquet: es otra aplicación con la que podrás entrenar tus habilidades orales en otros lenguajes.

FLTR: puede leer texto en otro idioma para que puedas hacer tu oído y ver cómo se pronuncia. Aunque cuidado con algunos programas de este tipo que usan sintetizadores de voz para leer texto y la pronunciación puede que no sea correcta… Te recomiendo mejor aquellos bancos de voces grabadas por nativos que puedes encontrar en la red.

Parlamentar: es una app de KDE para practicar el vocabulario en otro idioma, similar a lo que puedes hacer con OpenTeacher.

Verbiste: solo sirve para conjugaciones de francés e italiano, pero si estás buscando aprender estos idiomas puede ser una buena opción para ti.

Tagaini Jisho: igual que el anterior, se centra en vocabulario japonés y diccionario kanji, así que no es para otros idiomas…

Anki: es un interesante programa extensible para aprender mediante tarjetas didácticas, que como dije antes es una buena forma de relacionar conceptos.

Learning with texts: un programa para aprender leyendo y escuchando con textos en otro idioma.

Step into Chinese: se centra en el chino, un entrenador que ayudará a los que quieran aprender el idioma asiático, aunque está dirigido a los angloparlantes, por tanto necesitas saber este idioma.

No olvides que muchas de las apps de Android como Duolingo, ABA, etc., disponen de una interfaz basada en web también, por lo que puedes usarlos desde tu navegador.

Y no olvides, lo mejor de todo es usar programas de mensajería instantánea o de videoconferencia para hablar con extranjeros. La mejor forma de aprender idiomas.
