Summary: (y/n) is chased by the Predator through a forest and is luckily found by Taabe and taken back to the tribe where her injuries are treated.
Word count: 1.1K
Warnings: blood, injury detail, monsters?

Italics = Comanche

Stumbling through the forest I trip on a root before falling over. I hiss as my shirt is cut leaving scratch lines across my arms. Sighing and wincing I pull myself back up and try to continue, just trying to put one foot in front of the other. I wipe the sweat off my aching head and look at my hand seeing the red, metallic liquid coating my fingers.
I feel my head becoming heavy but I refuse to pass out, not in this situation. Something’s chasing me, or it was. A massive creature, taller than any man, with some sort of braids reaching past its shoulders. It was covered in metal, a mask covering its face and plates attached to all parts of its body. It made a clicking sound as it disappeared into the trees, quite literally disappeared - it seemed to just stop existing at the click of a finger.
A stick cracks underneath my feet, I drag my feet behind me then I hear the clicking sound again, It’s back.
I feel my heart pounding in my chest and my breathing is hitched as I try to run. My legs burn as I make myself go forward, my body begging me to stop. I trip over again as I push myself after one of the trees. Still falling to the floor I feel the sharp stones and chunks of wood cutting up my skin
“Arrêt! S'il vous plaît! (Stop! Please!)” I say feeling the tears trickle down my face before a different mysterious man appears in front of me holding a spear. I look up at him before finally passing out. Before I’m out cold I hear the clicking sound again.
A few moments later, it could’ve been minutes or it could have been days, I wouldn’t know. My body’s moving but I’m not walking. I can hear footsteps, they’re in time with the way my body moves. My eyes flutter open as my head rolls around but suddenly I jolt up and look around. My vision is still blurry as I try and identify where I am and what’s happening.
Wincing, my headaches as I finally re-adjust to waking up. I look up at the man holding me in his arms and feel my stomach drop as I see his forehead covered in blood.
“Que fais-tu? Que ce passe-t-il? (What are you doing? What's happening?)” I ask, startled but he just looks at me confused and holds onto my wrists as I start squirming around. I look at him and how he’s dressed, the dress and patterns of the local tribe. I researched it before I got taken here, culture being one of my interests. I repeat the same questions in Comanche and notice that he seems to understand and then replies.
“I found you in the forest.” He says.
“We’re still in a forest,” I say, drowsiness evident in my voice as my head rolls from side to side.
“I’m taking you to my tribe.” He replies as we emerge from the forest.
I lift my head up and look around. Tipis line the horizon and smoke flies up from the fire. Women and children walk around cooking, and gathering whilst the men are finishing up with their hunting and unpacking their hunts.
“It’s incredible here,” I say in English as I tend to switch in and out of languages routinely.
“It’s pretty.” He replies and I’m a bit shocked that he understands English.
“You speak English?” He nods with a small smile before the rest of the walk is spent in silence.
Heads turn as the man, who I now realise I don’t know the name of, continues carrying me. Suddenly the injuries I suffered start to hurt again, it feels like my skin is on fire.
I hear whispers in Comanche.
“Who is she?”
“Why is she here?”
“Is she okay?”
Hushed questions and whispered curiosities. The man walks past all of the people and places me down in one of the tipis.
“Where are you going?” I say starting to feel my heart race at the thought of him just leaving me here even though I don’t even know his name or who he is.
“I’ll be back in a minute.” He says before walking out of the tipi and closing it making sure that the sunlight doesn’t peak through.
I hear speaking outside but it still only takes minutes for me to fall back asleep.
Sunlight shines through the tipi as someone pulls it open and walks in sitting down by the side of me. Feeling the warmth on my face I blink open my eyes and rub my forehead although not from the pain this time. For some reason, I don’t feel any pain. I look down at my arms and legs and notice the cuts are covered by cloth tied tightly but not too tightly. A piece of cloth decorates my head as well, with a little dangly bit which I tuck behind my ear.
Sitting up I feel a bit of dizziness in my head but turn to look around and see the man sitting next to me. Jumping slightly, I take a breath before smiling at him slightly.
“Hey.” He says, silently chuckling at me as I jump at seeing him.
“Hi.” I reply. “Did you, umm, do this?” I say indicating to all the pieces of cloth tied to my arms and legs. He nods. “Thanks.” I say running my hand through my hair, untangling a couple of the knots. “What’s your name?” I say after a small pause.
“Taabe. What’s yours?”
“(y/n).”
“Nice name, foreign name.” He says.
I take a sharp breath as I remember the creature from the forest.
“What happened to the creature?” I ask desperately.
“There wasn’t a creature, I must have scared him off.” He jokes slightly. “How are you feeling?” He asks tightening one of the bandages.
“Better, what did you do?” I ask.
“My sister is a healer, she gave you some plants to help with the pain.” He says with a small smile.
“Why are you helping me? I heard them shouting about me earlier.” I say rubbing my arm slightly awkwardly.
“You’re hurt, you’re not gonna hurt me.” He says, matter-of-factly. “You’re a translate aren’t you? Question is, who for?”
“This French guy, my parents owe him something so to pay him back I’m helping with translation.”
“Thought so.” He says. “I told them you're not a threat, you can’t hurt us and I don’t think you would. You’re not in a great position to do so.” He says with a smirk. “They said you can stay.”
“Well, thanks.” I reply.
“Don’t worry, you can pay me back sometime in the future.” He says with a wink.

Hi I know it's a bit weird but before I give you the details I was wondering if it would it be fine to have a Prey 2022 scenario with Taabe x S/O. Love the guy, he's an absolute gem. But there's not much content for him.
Ooohh yes!! I loved Prey! Best of the movies! 💕
Taabe was such a sweetie, such a good brother!!
First off, he will absolutely brag to get your attention! Half the time you indulge him and the other half just bantering with him.
Naru likes you automatically! You’re her friend and in a way, you keep her brother humbled but she knows his feelings for you.
Also may tease you both (mostly him)!
Taabe has a bit of a soft side to him as well. Wanting to take you on walks in the woods, made a flower crown for you once, kissed you under the sunset
A whole sweetheart! Flatterer and always has a sweet compliment or nickname for you
Bit protective of you but knows you can also handle yourself
If you’re a healer, weaver, or would-be hunter like his sister, he’s entirely supportive of your choices and helps you with whatever you need
In the quieter moments, he can be a bit of a cuddler and kisses start off sweet and tender before his arms are around you.

Plucking the fruit from the bush I quickly place it in my bag before raising my arm and sneezing into my elbow. I sniff before moving on to the next fruit plant. Throughout the day my sneezing and coughing gets worse, my voice becomes croaky and eyes start drooping.
I trek back to my home following behind the others, rubbing my eyes as I watch the sky start to dim. Dropping off the fruits at the storage tipi I sit down by the fire with a few others. It’s where we wait for the hunters to come back, Naru sits down next to me and Aruka sits down just afterwards.
“Hey.” I say tiredly, not even managing a smile.
“(y/n), you don’t look so good.” Naru says and Aruka raises her hands to my face. She holds my face and turns it looking at the bags I know are under my eyes and who knows what else.
“I’ll get you some medicine, you look awful.” Aruka says, worry painted on her face.
“No, I’m fine really, I’m just tired.” I say starring at the dancing flames.
“Go to bed then.” Naru suggests.
“I will after Taabe gets back.” I say almost as a compromise.
“No, you need to go to bed now, (y/n), I’ll send Taabe to see you when he gets back.” She says with her hand on my back and a small smile on her face.
“Okay, fine.” I say getting up begrudgingly.
“I’ll send him to you later with some food and medicine.”
Aruka has always looked after since my parents died when I was a young child. She practically treats me like her daughter and is set on me and Taabe getting ‘married’.
Dragging my feet I make my way to my tipi. I quickly succumb to sleep when I lay down. It’s easy to fall asleep when what I have look at is the colours of the sky twirling around mixing with the clouds.
Through my closed eyes I see light coming through the entrance (AN: I hope you guys know what I mean) and slowly open my eyes.
“(y/n)?” I hear a voice that I know is Taabe’s.
My eyelids flutter open as they adjust to the light from the fire.
“Hi.” I say with a tired voice.
He crouches down in front of me holding a bowl of something.
“My mother made you something, it’s got medicine in it.” He says in a hushed voice as I sit up, shimmying out of my blanket. He tries to pass it to me but he’s interrupted with me coughing nearly spilling it.
“Sorry.” I say quietly as he nearly spilt the hot food on himself.
“How are you feeling?” He asks passing the bowl back to me then placing his hand on my forehead. “You’re quite hot.”
“Tired and sad.” I say with a small, fake frown.
“Why?” He asks kneeling down on the ground.
“Because you weren’t here.” I say with a chuckle as he reaches for my hand.
“Well, I’m here now, are you happier now?” He says, a smile etched in his face.
“Yes, much.” I say managing a smile as he leans down, kissing my cheek.
“You should get some more rest after you’ve eaten.” He rubs my back gently as I eat some of the soup like food.
“I’m fine, I can still do my gathering and jobs tomorrow.” I say sipping on the liquid.
“I don’t think you should,” He pauses looking at my slightly annoyed face. “Just in case, my love, just in case I think you should take the day off.”
“But I’ll be fine-”
“Just in case, I think you should stay in bed tomorrow.” He interrupts me and I sigh.
“Fine.” I say giving in. “I won’t go gathering tomorrow. But I still think I could.”
“Thank you,” He says stoking my hair and kissing my forehead before standing up again. “Get some rest.” He says, I nod and he leaves the tipi.
---------
The sun breaks through my eyelids, blurring my vision as I slowly open my eyes. I sit up slowly, rubbing my eyes, not hearing anyone talking outside. Everyone must’ve gone to work already. Pulling on my boots and draping my jacket over myself I venture out of my tipi. I feel the cold nipping at my skin so pull my clothing closer to myself.
I walk out, towards the communal area (the fire), I sit down on one of the logs and greet Aruka who’s cooking something.
“Hello.” I say tiredly.
“Oh, (y/n), how are you feeling?” She asks putting down her tools.
“Fine.” I say with a sigh. “Is there anything to eat?” I ask her looking over at the pot she’s cooking out of.
“I saved you some food from earlier.” She says holding out the food with a smile. I take the cooked meat off of her and dig in not noticing how hungry I was until after I finished.
Sitting by the fire, a feeling of uselessness overwhelms me, I could be gathering or cooking but Aruka won’t let me do anything.
“Are you sure there isn’t something I can do?” She sighs, it’s got to be at least the fourth time I’ve asked this now.
“Why don’t you do some beading or sewing?” She says.
“I don’t know how.” I say quietly, embarrassed I never learnt.
“I’ll show you, I always do beading in my spare time.” She says with a soft smile. “Come on.” She says taking me to her tipi.
She shows me how to do it and it seems simple when she does it.
“Do you know how to do it now?” I nod even though I know I don’t know how. “Okay, I’m going to help Kateri with her baby, I’ll see you later..” She says and leaves.
Sitting on the floor of the tipi I look at the scattered beads and frayed rope. Confused, I thread the pieces together and try to re-bead it but it doesn’t work so I undo it. I repeat different things and try different methods until finally I created something that bares some semblance to a necklace.
The beads are in no sort of pattern and the colours don’t go together. Where the rope is knotted the ends are frayed and sticking out. Sighing, I place it on the floor next to the other pieces of rope and beads. I look at it on the floor and regret not learning earlier in my life, I was too busy playing with Taabe and Naru, I roll my eyes but smile at the thought.
I move the necklace to the side and try to make a new one but to no avail. Eventually I give up and just sit there practicing the different types of knots I know, I had much more success with that.
Finally the hunters get back along with the gatherers. Basically everyone finishes their work for the day. Chatter envelops the camp, laughing and cheering. I’ll go out when it’s time for food but until then I’ll sit and wallow in my misery and boredom.
That is until the cloth door is pulled aside and Taabe walks in.
“Hey.” He says sitting down on the ground in fron of me.
“Hey.”
“How are you feeling?” He asks pressing the palm of his hand against my forehead. “Your not so hot anymore.”
“Wow, thanks.” I say jokingly but he remains oblivious for a moment too long. Then he gets it and chuckles. One of the things I love about him is his obliviousness to everything but hunting. Put him in the jungle and he’s aware of every single thing, tracks, sounds, everything but put him anywhere else he isn’t so aware. Like jokes, and flirting and things like that he’s completely oblivious to but it’s cute.
“What have you been doing all day? Sleeping I hope.” He strokes the side of my face.
“Mostly, but I tried something new, I tried making a necklace.” I pull it out from behind me. “It was gonna be for you but it didn’t go very well.” I say looking at it, sad I couldn’t even manage to make him a gift. “I think, I’ll just get rid of it.” I say sadly.
“No you won’t.” He says in doubt.
“I’ll rip the damn thing!” I assure him imitating ripping it.
“You will not!” He says taking it out of my reach until I stop making grabby hands. “I love it, okay?” He says putting it on.
“No, you don’t have to, really-” I say looking at the ground
“I know I don’t have to, I love it, anything you make or do I love.” He says sincerely. “I’ll wear it forever.” He says and from now on every time I see him he’s wearing that damn necklace. He wears it to meals, he wears it hunting, he wears it in bed. And every time I look at him wearing it, even from a distance I can’t help but smile.
