Life is Sunniest in Sunset Valley - Chapter 10

Saffron comes back downstairs just as Connor and Jared are re-entering the living room.

“Hey, Jar,” she says. “How was the movie?”

“Okay, I guess,” says Jared.

“Jared saw a strange person outside when he got home so we just went to check out if he was still there,” says Connor. “It looks like he’s gone now, though.” 

“What do you mean? “says Saffron. ”What was he doing?”

“He was standing on the other side of the road opposite the house. Jared said it looked like he was texting,” says Connor. He looks intently at Saffron’s face as he speaks. Her forehead wrinkles slightly and she sticks out her bottom lip in a quizzical expression. Then she shrugs and turns to her brother. Connor finds her self-possession is to be both admirable and disconcerting.

“Are you hungry, Jar?” she says. “We’ve got leftover spag bol.”

“Nah, I’m good,” says Jared. “Darren’s mother took us to Macca’s on the way home.”

“Okay,” says Saffron. “Well, Connor and I have some more studying to do. You ready to continue, Connor?”

“Sure,” he says. Jared goes upstairs to his room. After another hour of revising exchange rates and the macroeconomic effects of currency fluctuations, Saffron says she’s getting tired. It’s now past 11 pm. Connor is starting to get a headache, but the thought of going home to his empty house makes his mood darken. His mind turns to what Wes and Laura might be doing right now, and the edges of his mind grow darker still. Saffron hasn’t received any more texts. He wonders if her married man is lurking in the hydrangeas that frame the driveway, ready to pounce on him as he gets in his car. He thinks not. If he is married, then he’s a coward, too lacking in backbone to leave a bad marriage. There’s no way he’d have the courage to confront Connor. Connor feels frustrated with Saffron for getting involved with such a loser, but ultimately it’s her life, her decisions. She’s made it clear that she doesn’t want to discuss her love life with him, and he has to respect that.

“Are you going to be at the library tomorrow?” he asks her.

“Yeah, probably,” she says, with her customary off-handedness.

“Can we study together again?”    

“Fine. I’ll probably be there around lunch time.”

“You can give me my book back tomorrow, then,” says Connor.  

“Okay,” says Saffron. She walks him to the door, and on impulse he kisses her on the cheek.

“What was that for?” she says, making a face.

“I just wanted to say thanks for listening to me tonight,” he says.

“I didn’t have much of a choice, did I?" she says, but he notices that she stays standing in the open doorway watching him until he backs out of the driveway, and even gives him a wave as he drives away.

🏝️Time on Island: Day 31

I startled as Ioannis's fingers gently brushed against mine, momentarily pulling me from the edge of sleep as I drifted through thoughts of home. I opened my eyes to find him gazing at me, a mixture of curiosity and concern etched on his face.

"Apologies, I did not mean to wake you," he said softly, his voice barely above a whisper. "You seemed distressed."

I forced a smile. "I’m fine… just relaxing after the swim. You surprised me is all."

He chuckled lightly, looking a bit embarrassed, and pulled his hand back. I hated that I didn't want him to.

The sun still hovered strong, bathing the island in intense heat. Ioannis and I had made it our habit to explore the shore each day.

“Shall we continue your walk?” He asked.

I sighed, enjoying the softness of the sand beneath me. “In a minute...Hey, Io?”

“Io?”

“Yes, I’ve decided that if you can call me ‘little human' all the time I should be allowed a nickname, hence ‘Io.’”

“I suppose that is acceptable. Go on.” He smirked, clearly amused.

“Do you ever feel stuck here because of me?” I asked.

Ioannis moved to lie beside me, fixing his gaze on me. “Stuck? Not quite. Things have...shifted. You’ve introduced something new that I cannot quite put into words. But there are times…” He paused, choosing his words carefully.

"It is intriguing to think back on my existence before you, and I often wonder how I would spend my time if you were not here. Would my days still feel as fulfilling?"

“Do you mean to say you enjoy having me around?” I teased.

His lips curled slightly as he restrained a laugh. “You are… tolerable.”

“Tolerable!” I burst into laughter and placed a hand dramatically over my heart as if wounded. “Charming.”

The corners of his mouth lifted in a grin. “Charm is not necessary for companionship, is it? Just the ability to endure one another’s presence.”

I rolled my eyes. “Well, your endurance is commendable. And I’ll take that as a compliment.”

Hello simblr community! I go by Geo and I've finally decided to make a simblr blog. :3 I only own the sims 3 so that's going to be my main focus unless I ever decide to play the sims 4 at some point.

My main focus would be story telling so just an early warning - they may consist of triggering or NSFW content at some point. I also like sharing gameplay that may be out of character for my OCs storywise ( they're very goofy <3 )

“Jesus Christ, there’s no way I’ll be able to pick the kids up in this condition,” says Roy, while Anya dances around the living room. His vision follows her movements like a vapour trail, her body like something liquid, slippery and magical as quicksilver. “I’ll have to ring Violet and tell her she’s driving. Shit. What excuse do I tell her? Do I just say I had too much to drink last night and might still be over the limit? That’s believable, right? She’ll have to come here to pick me up. She’ll probably have the shits. Damn. She’s scary when she’s angry. I’ll have to do another bump to cope. We’re supposed to be there at ten. I’ve got a bit over two hours to get my act together. Shit. I totally need to do another bump. Hey, did I tell you how much I love you in the last five minutes? Because I fucking love you. And I cannot fucking wait to tell Sonia about my plan for us all to live together. I’ve decided I’m going to bring it up today. Fuck waiting. The house is big enough for all of us so why not? The kids’ll love the idea. It’ll be amazing. Because, you know, I still love Sonia. Not in the all-consuming-I-see-God-every-time-we-fuck-way that I love you, but in a respectful, humble, mother-of-my- kids type way. I love Violet too. She’s a fucking legend. I love the marital home too. Being back there with the kids has been just the best thing ever. Next to meeting you, of course. Hey, you wanna do another bump with me? I need a shower too. You wanna have a shower together?"

“WHAT DID YOU SAY?” says Anya.

“I said do you want to have a shower together?”

“Yeah...nah. I just want to keep dancing,” smiles Anya, swaying with her eyes closed.

Impromptu Randevous

The Bridgeport Sports Zone isn't really my scene, but I heard they were having an extended happy hour tonight, so I thought I would swing by.

I ended up distracting the bouncer with a game of shuffleboard so this pretty blonde could sneak in - us girls gotta stick together!

Romeo and I got a little carried away with the happy hour and ended up sneaking away for a little alone time, if you catch my drift. 😜
