ohhh shit is it thatw week?????? hell yes i’m so ready for this

tempted to reblog every post i’ve ever made abt this album, when i first started listening i made a point to listen to all 3 in order but i imprinted on the horror and the wild like a duckling

I did THATW week last Feb. 27-Mar. 6 because The Amazing Devil dropped The Horror and the Wild on Feb. 29, 2020. Just bringing the ask game back now for whoever wants to play because it's been getting new notes so I thought, why should it be an anniversary for us to pop into each other's askboxes and yell about The Amazing Devil? IT DOESN'T. Every day is Yelling About The Amazing Devil Day.

On that note, you should absolutely feel free to reblog all your TAD posts! It can be your THATW week on your blog if you want. I'll be there with bells on. (If pressed I would admit that THATW is also the album closest to my heart, so I totally feel you with imprinting on it like a duckling. I can't help it, Farewell Wanderlust owns my soul!)

Fair was actually one of the first songs by The Amazing Devil that I listened to! Upon my first listen, I immediately fell in love with how Joey sang the song. His voice sounded so raw and filled with emotion, that it really felt like a very personal love letter to whoever he wrote the song about. It felt like I was intruding on something private that shouldn't have been shared with the public, but in the best way possible. My impression of Fair hasn’t changed. If anything, it’s become more dear to me.

Recently, whenever I listen to Fair, I can’t help but think of @eidenbabe, specifically upon hearing the lines “It’s not fair how much I love you” and “And if you asked me to, if you asked me, I would lose it all // Like petals in a storm // 'Cause darling I was born to press my head between your shoulder blades at night when light is fading”. They’re the first place my brain goes whenever I hear certain lines of many TAD songs. 

As for visualizations, I don’t really picture colors. I can picture images and scenes of two lovers going about a lazy day: curled up on a couch and watching a rom com, or maybe even a bad sci-fi movie. I can picture them laughing at whatever jokes they tell each other, or at the things they do that they know makes their partner laugh. It’s an intimate moment that is shared just between the two of them; the rest of the world unaware of this perfect little world they’ve made for themselves. 

Sometimes the outside world seeps in and causes some havoc, but they will always reassure each other that they have no intention of leaving the other, regardless of what chaos the outside world brings down onto them.

I think I've rambled enough, but yes. I really enjoy Fair. I really enjoy all of The Amazing Devil's songs, as they all have either certain lines that I really enjoy, I enjoy the song overall, or both.

so in THATW album, the closer I get to the end i feel like they're getting older like. not Madeleine and Joey as themselves but whoever the album is about. like, Marbles and Battle Cries make me feel like it's about an old couple waiting out the rest of their days –they dont have much time left– and they're just trying to think of all the happy memories they have. they're telling stories all throughout the album and Marbles and Battle Cries is about present them
