I'm adding this to here because the idea was revived to me during a talk in the server (or; a part of lore for the current AU I'm playing with [The Legend Of One Thousand Armaments/Ouroboros Stones]), as well as after looking at a few of @quitealotofsodapop 's posts about their Wukongverse AU
•Logged after talking about Dàshèng's 3rd kid (Metal/Chúnjié) and the effects of his other, more older brothers (Reborn/"Róngyù and Revolution/Hóngsè, for my main AU that's currently in the works as I try to add more details/lore.
"Imagine small clusters of crystals and gems growing slowly in places where Dàshèng's body is vulnerable (like his collar where the sickle was put), mending it together. Stronger. It spreads like a growth within his body like a geode amongst all the other minerals, but they are more dominant than the ores and metals.
The crystals are like compacted stars, burning and cooling at the same time. Shining like rainbow jade if they ever get exposed (if Dàshèng gets seriously injured). "
There's also this idea that popped into my head for this part;
The same idea of Dàshèng with crystals— but before or after his imprisonment. Dàshèng had been cooked in the 8 Trigrams brazier for 49 days in the heavenly realm (amounting to a few decades on earth because of time dilation), and Samadhi fire is a main ingredient in this one too. It replaces or imitates magma/lava as a contribution to the formations.
"Diamonds were carbons that were cooked by lava for a long time.
[At depths of over 120km, through intense heat of between 900°C and 1300°C, pressures of 45 kbar and above and over millions and often billions of years, this incredible miracle happens— carbon crystallises to form diamonds]
[Diamond is only formed at high pressures. It is found in kimberlite, an ultrabasic volcanic rock formed very deep in the Earth's crust.]"
Sūn Wùkōng was a Stone Monkey— but what if his stone egg was made out of carbon? Not just carbon, of course, but there would be a large percentage of the stuff that was carved off of the mountain that his stone egg could have been part of.
Imagine Dàshèng being put in the brazier and the carbon (yes, I know that carbon is the most common element in the universe, but we're talking rock-wise here) were just cooked enough at the right pressure and temperatures, until he himself becomes it. His stone monkey properties becoming more apparent at each day/year he spent in there, the diamond clustering from his marrows until reaching bones, nerves, muscles, tissues, everything, reaching the surface of his skin until his fur becomes frozen with corundum.
I also love the idea of it just sprouting, like cordyseps, out from his body. Once that it reached just the right properties it didn't even slow down to become a natural cluster of diamonds/crystals, and when it does it's horrific. Breaking bones as they were splintered from their rightful places but not becoming incomplete, the clusters still held them all in like spiderwebs. Muscles and veins and flesh forming around the base of the cluster as though they were meant to be there, just growing around it.
The imagery of Sūn Wùkōng/Dàshèng coming out from the brazier or breaking out of it, with knots and aggregates of compounded Dao and all the things driven out of that mountain he rested upon while in the stone egg just growing from his body. Like a walking constellation that was the purest of them all, none impurities except the Samadhi that cultivated them into what they are now.
•Another theory is that Huagoushan/Flowers And Fruit Mountain is a dormant volcano, which could explain the abundance and fertility of the mountains.
"Physically, they dominate the landscape, and have an active role in shaping our planet's geography. When they are actively erupting, they are an extremely dangerous and destructive force. But when they are passive, the soil they enrich can become very fertile, leading to settlements and cities being built nearby."
But FFM could also be an extinct volcano, not just a dormant one, or that it became extinct when Dàshèng bursted from the stone egg (that took the life energy from the mountain in order to cultivate as well as it should, considering that Sūn Wùkōng had always been seen with an affinity to fire many times [the sun, the moon, Heaven and earth were largely part of his cultivation]).
For the AU "The Legend Of One Thousand Armaments" or just in correlation;
"The internal heat associated with young volcanic systems has been harnessed to produce geothermal energy. Most of the metallic minerals mined in the world—such as copper, gold, silver, lead, and zinc— are associated with magmas found deep within the roots of extinct volcanoes."
As a stone monkey, Shi Hou/Dàshèng/Sūn Wùkōng would have these elements within him as well, which could somewhat explain @journeytothewestresearch 's answer to this Ask that questioned ["Wùkōng has a heart of gold (literally), as well as iron lungs, and a metal spine from being in Lao Tzu's furnace and eating molten Copper from Guan Yin"].
These elements could've been merged as one with Dàshèng's body, that's why he has ["—a heart strong as gold and viscera hardy as silver, a bronze head and an iron back, fiery eyes and diamond pupils."] which were then refined thoroughly after he was put in the brazier.
Volcanoes go dormant because magma from the Earth's mantle can no longer reach the volcano, but in this case Dàshèng could've just taken all the life energy/Dao from the FFM mountain (or just the mountain his stone egg hatches from), which stopped the flow of magma underneath. I also like to think that the laser eyes in the beginning was the energy/'eruption' of the 'dormant' mountain/volcano that Dàshèng took from, shooting out it's final blast before becoming an extinct formation/completely hardening as a mountain as we know it.
•Another is the theory that Sūn Wùkōng's Stone Egg was made of volcanic rock, that is why it was a stone "egg" because there are geodes formed from volcanic rock. Either the [theory] mountain/volcano his stone egg sat upon spat out the stone after one final push of life before becoming extinct, since it transfered all of it's life energy onto the rock, thus it had ["—divine inspiration."] before shortly forming the embryo that became Sūn Wùkōng.
"Volcanic rocks are usually fine-grained or aphanitic to glass in texture. They often contain clasts of other rocks and phenocrysts. Phenocrysts are crystals that are larger than the matrix and are identifiable with the unaided eye."
"Aphanitic"— Of or relating to an igneous rock in which the crystals are so fine that individual minerals cannot be distinguished with the naked eye. Aphanitic rocks are extrusive rocks that cooled so quickly that crystal growth was inhibited. "
"Volcanic rock (also called extrusive rock) is one type of magmatic rock (igneous rocks) and is the condensated product of extrusive magma after diagenesis and compaction, which differ greatly from sedimentary rocks in forming conditions, environments, and distribution."
About volcanic rock geodes;
"A geode begins as a hollow bubble located inside a layer of volcanic rock or another type of rock. These hollows could occur from tree roots or from animal burrows underground. With the formation of the rock, tiny air bubbles surrounded by the rock are initially hot.
Geodes are more or less spherical or egg-shaped rocks containing a hollow cavity which is lined with crystals. They form in both igneous and sedimentary rocks. "
Thus, with this [theory], Sūn Wùkōng was formed within a volcanic rock in which underneath a layer, there formed the pocket where the divine embryo formed. The copper, gold, silver, lead, and zinc were already a part of his bodily properties unlike if it were the latter theory that Sūn Wùkōng/Dàshèng only took the life energy from the mountain/volcano. He took the Dao/essence/chi of the volcano, but not it's properties (or until it reformed in later years, meaning Master Subhodi/Puti— opening up the channels and rivers of Dao within his divine body).
"Volcanic geode: These geodes are formed by gas bubbles in the lava. Sedimentary geodes: These geodes are formed by the creation of pockets between sedimentary layers. Gas, air, animals, mud, and multiple external factors can create these geodes."
"Geodes are formed when there are pockets of air within rocks. This often happens after volcanic eruptions when lava cools around air bubbles. These pockets leave space for groundwater to seep in. But the water itself doesn't produce geodes–it brings along minerals which stay in the rock even after the water evaporates. "
How many are the elements to be seen here? Precisely 5. The coincidentally perfect mixture of properties that helped with Sun Wùkōng/Dàshèng's cultivation. It also corresponds to the 8 Trigrams if you look at it the other way.
Tumblr media
"Those five elements are Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal. The Water (Kan) and Fire (Li) trigrams correspond directly with the Water and Fire elements. The element of Earth corresponds with both the trigrams of Earth (Kun) and Mountain (Gen). The element of Wood corresponds with the trigrams of Wind (Xun) (as a gentle but inexorable force that can erode and penetrate stone) and Thunder (Zhen). The element of Metal corresponds with the trigrams of Heaven (Qian) and Lake (Dui)." From here
"Trigrams are symbols of the cycle of yin and yang energy present in all things. Each of the Eight Trigrams consists of three horizontal lines that represent either yin or yang energy. Yang energy is depicted as a continuous line and yin energy by a broken line. Each trigram is read from bottom to top. The lowest line represents the earth; the center, humanity; and the top, heaven. The circular chart illustrates the relationship of the Eight Trigrams, each of which has its own name (li, kun, dui, etc.), with the cardinal directions, seasons, times of day, and elements (water, fire, heaven, earth, etc.). Each trigram also corresponds to phenomena not listed on the diagram, such as members of the family, numbers, colors, parts of the body, and illnesses. " From here
Sūn Wùkōng/Dàshèng's origin and the structures of his body is so interesting, like there are so many ways you could interpret how his stone egg was formed from or how, and what kind of "divine inspiration" that egg got to start cultivating that way. I could even go as far as link back to the 9 Constellations talk I had about this when I first started reading Journey To The West, especially about the 8 Trigrams parts since he's already to well related to the elements.
Not to mention how Water Curtain Cave/Shuilian Cave would've been cultivated and/or created with 'same' essences as him. I don't think we had any explanations yet on where all the magnificent things behind Water Curtain/ Shuilian Cave came from (if anyone knows please correct me so I'll onto it), and the possibilities that could be stemmed from that is delightfully varied.
Though I like to think that the mansion, shining iron bridge and stone thrones and furnitures, and other such things, were cultivated with the same length of time that Sūn Wùkōng/Dàshèng did. Meaning that they could have been 'manifested' together and then the treasures behind the waterfall were made just to serve the Monkey King, already knowing the fate that lies within him. As if the mountains of Huagoushan already knew what sort of creature slumbered within that divine egg, and wanted to make sure that it fit in his image. Why else would it be there waiting, then?
But the concept of the Monkey King's crystallization still stands and I'll keep adding onto it if I am able to collect more in the future (probably), and the processes and theories of how that can be true or wrong will still stand to themselves.
Sūn Wùkōn/Dàshèng's thing about his stone properties, stone body, and other properties regarding the elements and the trigrams will stick to me as well. Of how he can be seen as an extremely rich deposit of life energy/chi/essence because of the mountains and fertility around him, the other things that helped besides those, and how that affected his cultivation to a huge margin. The what ifs about where his Stone Egg came from/was made of/how it was made, how he came to be/his purpose/why he was there in the first place/why his body is like that would still keep coming from me as soon as I get more time for myself. It's a really fun thing to learn about and do!
(HC/Headcannon that whenever Sūn Wùkōng/Dàshèng [as a summoned being] touches stone that stone will be gifted a certain level of jade properties, depending on the karma of the person who summoned him. Sometimes it's useless as the property was too low [the person has bad karma/makes awful life decisions], nothing even changes at all at certain happenstances, but sometimes the stone's properties will skyrocket as it turns with good jade qualities [the person has good karma/non malevolent] that will cost a person nicely enough.)
Anyway, sorry for the long read but I got so pumped up about this jsnsjns. I'm currently half asleep rn so sorry if I got wonky towards the end lol. I can go on for much longer but I'll post this now as—
Part 1 of the archives of "The Legend Of One Thousand Armaments/TLOOA" and "Ouroboros Stones" Lores [tagged as #The Legend Of One Thousand Armaments #TLOOA #Ouroboros Stones and #Sunny Lore Archives, tagged for the more detailed studies]
So this will be it for now! I'll add more to it tomorrow if I can.
Hero Is Back Sun WuKong but he's quasi-crystalized bc he was kept in there for too long and now the crystal merged w his skin.
The crystals sort of 'replacing' his fur and every strand is just extremely tiny and thin strands that's feeling too close to velvet for comfort. Corundum teeth and nails that shine and glow as he bites into fruits, that crystallization spreading at each touch, and his 'fur' mimicking the glow of the prison he was stuck in for 500 years, and formations forming in his bloodstream that burst into clusters and clusters of crystals.
Idk, I think it just seems fun.

Bruno's Peaceful Life by LaughingWithMyBackAgainstTheWall
Sometimes, the world is kind. It gives and takes (rinse and repeat), and it knows us for the things that we do and the things that spill from our mouths. It hears us in it's serenity, listens to us in it's necessity to provide and to admonish.
The world is kind, it gives and takes (rinse and repeat)— but as all cycles do, it will be left interrupted and broken for the saints to fix it when Time decides it's finally the hour to reap.
And Bruno, for all his kindness and patience and growing bitterness, for all his tries and fails, of a vision left to be unspoken (of a niece to be left behind)—
Maybe it's time to leave.
The world is kind, it gives and takes (rinse and repeat, over and over again), but sometimes it's hateful enough to drag us with it in the pits of Hell.
