letting my history nerd show with this one
#the assasination was the inciting event that caused the snowball effect starting ww1#ww1's end left Germany- famously the loser- in a very severe and bad shape#the treaty of versailles- an unfair and exploitative peace treaty- only served to worsen Germany's situation#this combined with the economic perils of the great depression gave fertile ground for extremist idologies- nationalsocialism among them#this fertile ground allowed Hitler and his party to take control of Germany#later on kicking off ww2 with all it's horros#This inturn caused the big three to make their vows to no longer have kids; a vow poseidon famously broke#due to this broken vow aswell as general suspiciouns from zeus against poseidon#this caused percy to have to take the quest during tlt to return zeus' lightning bolt#TL:DR - If some austrian dude hadn't been shot in 1914 the entier plot of TLT might just not have happened at all#this joke is the only time where I will accept riordian using ww2 as a plot device#pjo#percy jackson and the olympians
