You suddenly find yourself in a white void. Where there's absolutely nothing. Nothing to see, nothing to hear, nothing to touch. When all of a sudden, three portals appear just inches away from you...

The first portal you come across, feels to be quite freezing, and appears to be rather dark inside.. A white figure though appears to be sitting just inches away from the portal... Yes you cannot make out their face, for their back is turned to you. Yet you can still hear their enchanting melody, from the other side of the portal...

The second portal you come across, feels rather hot and humid.. The burning light within the portal seems to be emitting from some sort of massive fireplace.. A houndoom like figure can be barley made out in the far off corner, of the dungeon like place... There the mon simply is resting its head against a big black pole of the sorts, yet snarling its fangs at something to far off in the distance to he made out...

The third and final portal you come across, appears to give off a a distinct scent.. A scent of dampness... Within the portal appears to lie but a vast and lucious forest, full of many different and unique plants from the blurs of color you can make out from your side of the portal... You then, see something not to far off from the portal. A peculiar creature that appeared to have horns, and many glowing eyes... You try to call put to thr creature, but it appears it cannot hear you...

So, traveller.. Now I must ask you...

Halloween Dancers

I had an idea, I'll probably write it properly later but for now I'm getting it out of my head. I was reading a post a out Dash being a talkshow host and leading to them outing Amity and this came to mind.

A cousin of a citizen of Amity heard all about all the crazy stuff going down, they keep them updated in their weekly phone calls, but thought they were making it up. Eventually divolves into an argument and they decide to look to prove them wrong. And find the internet oddly sanitised, which makes them look deeper. Eventually they get others involved wondering tf is going on over in Illinois. They manage to break through but mess up, instead boosting the signal so much that the halloween livestreams take over a large chunk of American media. T.v. s, computers, phones, etc all playing the phantom streams, where someone sees phantom just chilling and starts streaming. this time it's Samhain and the place is eerie. Blue tinged fog covers the place, it's dark out, no living person in sight and the camera pointed to the sky. In the sky you see glowing figures dancing to music coming from nowhere. An ageless youth in regal clothes spinning his partner, white hair drifing like he's underwater, his partner dressed like the pharohs of old spinning alongside him. A woman dressed in victorian ballgowns joining their dance. Other etheral beings coming out of the woodwork, spinning in the sky alongside their king. The dead dancing in the starlit sky as the veil becomes thin enough they can all come through with no major issues. And this haunting scene taking over every screen within the signals range. As the hours go by the sun begins to rise and the fog fades. they bow and begin to fade back into the realms, leaving the original three waltzing in the sunrise as the stars fade before leaving themselves and the stream cuts off.

Turns out their cousin wasn't lying, wierd stuff is going on in Amity, and no one, including the JL, knew about it. Someones head was going to rule for the lack of info. This stunk of a coverup.

A BTAS style title card for the DP reboot/au that lives in my head rent free

if I were in charge of a DP animation reboot and I had an unlimited budget, I would make significant and meaningful style changes. The basic change: everything that happens in the 'human world' would be black and white, and only the ghosts would be in color.

I've been calling it the "Pleasantville AU" in my head, though it's really not an AU as much as a lore-relevant stylistic overhaul reboot.

Humans and everything in the human world is black and white; ghosts are full technicolor

Danny, as a halfa, is still mostly black and white, but his eyes are green and his skin is. Skin colored idk. (Also black sclera because it's cool shh this is my fantasy reboot au)

The more powerful a ghost is, the more colorful it is. Moreover, the most powerful ghosts are capable of changing their coloration to "hide" in the human realm

Humans can't see colors well, and most recording equipment can't "capture" the image of a ghost well. You need special equipment to see them clearly and special cameras to photograph them

Places where ghosts have had a prolonged presence or big impact start to "bleed" colors. If you get wounded by the ghost, you get splashed with color (will fade to white "if you take care of it")

The Guys In White find these colorful, ghost-touched areas and "clean"/bleach them

The longer Danny hides, the more his presence in Amity Park starts to affect things

I didn't love the "Sam is responsible for Danny getting ghost powers" storyline in the OG, so in the reboot Danny was alone when he had his accident and he didn't tell anyone. He thinks he's a straight up ghost/is becoming a ghost and will eventually become evil (in this au becoming a ghost is thought to be a long term process a la vampirism. This isn't actually the case but I love "bad scientist Fentons" so that's their prevailing theory)

(He'll tell them eventually but I love identity shenanigans so I think it's more interesting if he hides it from them for a bit while also interacting with them as Phantom on occasion)

Oh yeah, because Phantom is mostly black and white, he's the first ghost that a lot of people are able to see.

His coloration is the driving force for the Fentons to declare him "the worst ghost", because they accuse him of trying to pretend to be human.

His coloration is a big reason why other ghosts dislike/distrust him, too, because he looks too human

The Vlad is a halfa reveal happens way later and way differently in this reboot; Danny meets him and knows he's "ecto-touched", but the Vlad = Plasmius moment would have more impact if Danny has had interactions with Vlad before, imo. Anyway I have Plans(TM) for Vlad but I'll leave it at that for now😏

just finished zelda ocarina of time for the first time. this game is so perfect. it is literally so excellent in characters in gameplay in design in soundtrack in everything it actually blows my mind that this thing came out in 1998

I think valve's philosophy regarding games is that a new game has to have something entirely unique and innovative before it can be released. If it is innovative enough, it can be released twice and done way better the second time. They release experimental first games, and the successful first games get the privilege of becoming polished second games. Gong past that is a waste though. High quality, inspired, design happens when new mechanics are introduced

If valve really did release half life 3, then 4, then 5 and so on, the series wouldn't be any better than call of duty 9 gorrilion and seven

Think about it

Half life: first successful FPS with a functional third axis, polished in half life 2

Portal: first FPS physics puzzle game, polished in portal 2. Previous canon is not abandoned by setting this in the same universe as halflife, but the gameplay is fresh. Another action shooter wouldn't have kept as much attention

Left4Dead: first co-op PvE shooter where teamwork was implemented into intended game design (special infected) unique enough to be polished in a second game

Team fortress: one of the first (maybe the first) PVP game with a class system, later polished

And then there's all the not so popular games valve released:

Death match kinda sucked, experiment failed, no second game

A whole bunch of VR titles, they kinda sucked because VR just isn't there yet. No polish expected

I think it's against valve's development/greenlighting philosophy to create a new game while using an old formula. It's why they keep making such great games. It's not the same slop every time they release a new title. Modern warfare 9999999999 plays the same as modern warfare 2. There's no improvement to be made after the first sequel and it's not a good idea to invest resources into games whose only real differences are improved graphics

Valve can count to three, they're just enlightened enough to know that counting to three yields boring games with nothing special or unique to make them worth playing

Hear me out. You listening? Reading? Good. 

 Cryptid batfam, but they’re very ecto-contaminated. I mean, in some continuities they straight up have a lazarus pit in the batcave. At least five of them have died before! Everyone in Gotham is ecto-contaminated in some way or the other- there’s a reason normal poisons don’t really work or how they’re not lead poisoned despite Gotham canonically being half made in its entirety with lead mixed in. Now everyone is variously ecto-contaminated, some more than others. But the batclan, who have a lazarus pit? Who have died and returned or been born from those waters? 

Liminal. Hella liminal. That pit is exposed, there’s nothing stopping the ecto energy! There’s already another lazarus pit under Gotham itself! And curses! And several pits of hell and temples to gods! Batman canonically had a portal opened on top of him by Barbatos- hell he was the portal. Sound familiar? 

Now imagine you are a normal goon. You might have a bit of eye-shine, but that’s nothing new here in Gotham. You’re a henchman, you do the job, get paid, hope you don’t die, and go home to pay your bills. Batman? No idea what that is, you think it’s some sort of hazing. Robin? Yeah right. But you swear that light was on over there, you know you put those boxes up in the proper way, so how did it fall? That window didn’t have a crack on it, and you can feel eyes on you. And it’s not the way you’re used to, like a mugger or something, no this is something worse. 

 This is something actively hunting you, and you can’t tell where it is.
