Orphan Detective Generator
Equipment: 3-5 detectives, 52 playing cards
Congratulations! You've graduated from a detective-generating orphanage. Time to solve real mysteries with(?) your fellow detectives!
What do you mean, "that sounds unethical"? Don't worry about it.
CHARACTER CREATION
Every detective draws a card for Strength and Ranking.
Strength:
Hearts: Charisma
Diamonds: Analysis
Clubs: Memory
Spades: Beating People Up
Higher card number means better Ranking. (Ace = 1, J-K = 11-13.) Break ties by suits: hearts > diamonds > clubs > spades.
CASE
The lowest-ranked detective places a card:
Hearts: Murder
Diamonds: Theft
Clubs: Disappearance
Spades: Inexplicable Phenomena
Everyone describes a Clue (places another card).
The game's afoot! Going clockwise, each detective selects a Clue (call it c), then draws a card (call it n).
n is in range c-2 to c+2: You resolve the Clue!
n = c: Your solution is masterful.
n < c-2: You don't connect the dots.
n > c+2: You go overboard.
If your Strength fits the Clue, increase potential success range by 2.
If you fail, place the new card down - another Clue!
WORKING TOGETHER: Everyone involved draws a card. Pick the best outcome.
WORKING AGAINST: Pick the worst outcome.
GAME OVER: when all Clues are resolved, or the deck runs out.
"the rankings don't do anything?" yeah. exactly.
this is fine to archive! it is very strongly inspired by the death note series, but probably not enough to warrant copyright striking. (elaboration on fandom stuff in tags.)
if i had more space i'd probably add more reminders to roleplay, though then again surely people playing rpgs know that already. describe how the rankings tear your group apart, or bring them closer together! describe your clues! describe how you (don't) solve them! have fun! if anyone ever plays this i'll weep with happiness
200 Word RPGs 2024
Each November, some people try to write a novel. Others would prefer to do as little writing as possible. For those who wish to challenge their ability to not write, we offer this alternative: producing a complete, playable roleplaying game in two hundred words or fewer.
This is the submission thread for the 2024 event, running from November 1st, 2024 through November 30th, 2024. Submission guidelines can be found in this blog's pinned post, here.

I recolored the Lightforged Vaard piece from the ask to a classic Vaard for the fun of it, also the fact that it's one of the better front view faces I've done. I struggle a lot with this angle so it's great practice, and I get to see both versions.

Day 14 of 31 days of COD
Word count: 1k
Relationships: team as family
Tags: sleepy ghost, fluff, humour, crack-treated seriously
“Probably,” Soap agreed, pulling out his own phone. “Reminds me of that time I found him under the table. Thought he was dead at first, but nope—just asleep.” Gaz raised an eyebrow. “Under a table? Really?” Soap grinned. “Aye. Had a right laugh about it. You’d think he’d learn to find a proper spot.” OR Ghost falls asleep in the most random places; the team reminisce Keep reading under the cut or on AO3 This was a response to this lovely ask hopefully i did you justice anon o7
The safehouse was quiet. After their latest mission, the 141 had scattered to wind down. Soap sat at the table, idly flicking through a magazine, while Gaz stretched out on the couch, his head resting against a pillow. Price stood by the window, arms crossed, ever-watchful for any signs of trouble.
In the small bed tucked into the corner of the room, Ghost was fast asleep, propped awkwardly against the wall, head tilted back slightly, and arms folded across his chest. The sight was familiar, but still comical—an intimidating figure utterly at ease, snoring lightly.
“Out like a light,” Soap muttered, smirking as he glanced at Ghost.
“Good,” Price grunted, moving closer to the bed. “He needs it. Hasn’t slept properly in days.”
Gaz looked up from his phone. “Reckon this is the longest he’s been down in a while.”
“Probably,” Soap agreed, pulling out his own phone. “Reminds me of that time I found him under the table. Thought he was dead at first, but nope—just asleep.”
Gaz raised an eyebrow. “Under a table? Really?”
Soap grinned. “Aye. Had a right laugh about it. You’d think he’d learn to find a proper spot.”
“Ghostbusters”
Scrub-a-Dub (Soap): Oi, found the big lad again. Under the bloody table this time.
G-Force (Gaz): Oh, for real? Where’s the proof?
Old Man (Price): What’s he doing under a table? Taking cover in his sleep?
Scrub-a-Dub (Soap): See for yourself.
Image attachment: Ghost curled up under the briefing room table, one arm over his face, completely knocked out.
G-Force (Gaz): You’ve got to be kidding me. How does he fit under there?
Old Man (Price): Leave him there. Unless Suds burns the place down again.
Scrub-a-Dub (Soap): That was one time!
G-Force (Gaz): He’ll wake up thinking he’s still in the field. Don’t mess with him.
Old Man (Price): Exactly. Let him sleep.
Price chuckled, crossing his arms. “Well, he certainly hasn’t learned yet. What about you, Gaz? You must have some funny stories.”
Gaz nodded, chuckling softly. “Yeah, I remember that time I found him in his office. Thought he was just deep into some files, but nope—out cold.”
The laughter bubbled up between them as they shared the memory. “Didn’t even wake him,” Gaz said, shaking his head in amusement. “Just left him be and went about my business.”
Big Gaz Lad (Gaz): You lot are never going to believe where I found Ghost.
Scrub-a-Dub (Soap): Let me guess, under a rock?
Old Man (Price): In a dumpster?
Big Gaz Lad (Gaz): Close! In his office, sprawled across his paperwork.
Scrub-a-Dub (Soap): Is he snoring?
Big Gaz Lad (Gaz): Like a bloody chainsaw.
Image attachment: Ghost face down on the desk, arms hanging off the sides, a pen still gripped in his hand.
Old Man (Price): Can’t believe he made himself at home with all that mess office.
Scrub-a-Dub (Soap): At least he’s not under the desk this time.
Big Gaz Lad (Gaz): True. I guess that’s progress?
Old Man (Price): Just let him sleep. I’m sure he’ll be thrilled when he wakes up to a mountain of paperwork.
“We’ve seen him sleep in the oddest places,” Gaz added, leaning back in his chair. “Can’t believe he hasn’t ended up in a bin yet, still waiting to capture that one.”
“Speaking of bins,” Soap said, an amused glint in his eye. “Didn’t you find him in your bed once, Cap?”
“Ghostbusters”
Old Man (Price): Ghost is in my bed. Out cold.
Scrub-a-Dub (Soap): Guess you’re bunking somewhere else tonight.
G-Force (Gaz): Yeah, don’t even think about waking him.
Old Man (Price): I wasn’t planning on it. Can I crash with one of you?
Scrub-a-Dub (Soap): Got space here. C’mon over.
G-Force (Gaz): Same here. Just bring your pillow, mate.
“Best part was he didn’t even care,” Price chuckled. “Just rolled over and kept snoring.”
Soap laughed, shaking his head. “You’d think he’d have a more dignified approach to sleep, but no. Just plops down wherever.”
They all glanced at Ghost again, still blissfully unaware of their conversation. Gaz felt warmth in his chest, knowing how well they all understood each other.
“Remember that time we were making our way back to you guys from that base, and he fell asleep in the middle of the debriefing?” Soap said, a mischievous grin creeping onto his face.
"Ghostbusters”
Scrub-a-Dub (Soap): Lads, Ghost is out cold during the debriefing.
Old Man (Price): No way!
G-Force (Gaz): You’re kidding me.
Scrub-a-Dub (Soap): Nope. Head down on the table, drooling and everything.
Image attachment: Ghost with his head down on the table, oblivious to the open video call in front of him.
Old Man (Price): We should just let end it, pick it back up tomorrow lads?
G-Force (Gaz): Absolutely. Let him wake up when he’s ready.
Gaz laughed heartily, picturing the scene. “Just snored right through it!”
Price shook his head, chuckling. “That was one for the books. I thought I’d have to ask Suds to carry him out.”
“Well, he’d probably have preferred that,” Soap added, a teasing glint in his eyes. “A hero’s exit.”
“Right, like he’d ever admit it,” Gaz said, grinning. “Can you imagine?”
They all shared a laugh, the camaraderie warming the space between them. It felt good to reminisce, a reminder of the bond they shared, even in the chaos of their lives.
As the laughter faded, the room settled into a comfortable silence. Ghost remained deep in slumber, and the three of them relaxed, grateful for this rare moment of peace together.
“Glad he’s finally resting,” Price said quietly, leaning back in his chair. “We all could use it.”
“Definitely,” Gaz agreed, stretching out on the couch. “It’s good to see him like this, even if it’s a bit random.”
Soap nodded, gently adjusting the blanket around Ghost. “Not the first time we’ve kept watch over him. Just part of the job.”
“Ghost Watch, as always,” Price said with a grin.
They sat in the calm of the safehouse, a sense of camaraderie filling the air. No teasing, no interruptions—just the unspoken understanding that this was a moment to cherish.
And as they continued to keep an eye on their lieutenant, they shared quiet smiles, grateful to have each other.

Hi there. I always read fics where Warriors doesnt know that Time is Mask. But i was thinking why not the reverse? Children don't have that strong of a memory. So although Time remembers the Captain from the war and how much he meant to him, he didn't quite make the connection that he and Wars are one and the same. Meanwhile Wars over here is very proud of his little brother and also constantly trying to offer him hugs and giving him like a bedtime or something and Time is like ???
Do with prompt what you like, maybe when time finally makes the connection.
Also it's totally alright if you don't feel like writing it, no pressure. <3
Sorry this is uhhhhh two years late, Anon. I made it a little silly. :)
--
It was probably the scarring, Warriors mused, idly thumbing the thickened tissue that pulled at his nose and lips. No matter how prettily he attempted to smile, his expression bore a perpetual grimace. It didn't seem fair, but that was life, after all. The end of the war hadn't quelled any of the resentment from those who believed that the Hero should've been quicker, or smarter, or stronger; if anything, the peace that had followed merely gave them time to redirect their ire, and their blades. Warriors hadn't been able to feel his right cheek for nearly a year.
He imagined the length of his hair didn't help the situation either. It was longer, now, and it curled around his jaw if he didn't apply any product. Warriors rather liked it like that, maybe especially because of the way it looked nothing like the practical cut he'd sported during the war.
But still, surely Time recognized him. Yes, he'd gained a few healthy pounds, and he cared about things like moisturizers and conditioners when he'd never before had the chance to, but goddesses above, the scarf was pretty recognizable, and so was his "annoying, posh-ass accent," or so he'd believed.
He certainly remembered Mask, regardless of the decades that must've passed for the other hero.
But they'd been traveling together for days at this point, all nine of them, and Time's countenance revealed not even a semblance of familiarity whenever he looked Warriors's way. And that was...
Well, not great.
So Warriors waited for the right time, and when the younger heroes went off on some questionable exploration of a something called a "fire fruit orchard," he sidled up to the Hero of Time with the closest thing he could manage to a grin. "Portals," he began with a conspiring wink, "am I right?"
Time didn't seem to share his amusement. Not even for camaraderie's sake. "Are you not going to follow the others?"
"No, they'll be fine." Probably. Mostly. "I figured you and I should take the time to talk."
"Hm." Time busied himself with cleaning the back of one of his gauntlets. The metal practically gleamed already. "About what?"
Not one to be deterred, Warriors stepped closer. "It's only right that we get to know each other. Call it bonding, or... unmasking." He paused, waiting to see if the joke connected, and he couldn't help but lean forward to bump their shoulders together just like he'd done to Mask dozens of times during the war.
Somehow, he ended up on his ass. Literally.
"Not interested," Time answered flatly, drawing his leg back as if he hadn't just stepped aside and tripped Warriors with it.
A blushed warmed one side of Warriors's face, and he cleared his throat. Belatedly, he remembered to stand up. "I only meant--"
"I know what you meant." Time held up his left hand. A plain silver ring decorated his fourth finger. "But I'm taken, jackass."
"That's--I didn't--Mask--"
"Try that euphemism one more time, and I promise you won't experience a single peaceful night on this goddess forsaken journey."
Warriors stared, and for once, Time stared back. The look in his eye was fucking terrifying. Warriors couldn't help but admire the man, even if his skin crawled from the intensity of that stare. After what felt like one of the most dangerous moments of his life, he finally sighed and threw up his hands. "Do you truly not remember me, you brat?"
Time blinked, then narrowed his eye. "Should I?" As if it was a threat!
"Captain Link?" Warriors tried, drawling a little out of frustration. "Time travel? The War Across the Ages? Any of that ring a bell?"
For a moment, it seemed like Time had truly forgotten, then his jaw dropped; the stupidity of the look suited him. "Captain?"
"Nayru's sake, yes!" Warriors scoffed, feeling his scarred lip catch briefly. "I can't believe it took you so--Oof!"
He ended up on his ass again. This time, Time was on the ground with him. All things considered, it wasn't the worst hug he'd ever received. Not by far.

If the Pokemon world had their own "Remnants of Despair", who do you think would be in it. (Junko somehow made a portal there or something.)
Buckle up fellas this is gonna be a long one
Ooo okay that’s a super interesting thing to think about! There’s a lot of things to consider when picking remnants in this sort of context (fighting tooth and nail against the instinct to just bonk my favs with the villain au bat but I shall resist!)
I think it’s important take how the Pokémon world works into account, like having Junko just physically torture someone into despair (think Chisa) wouldn’t fly, Pokémon’s ratings as a franchised wouldn’t allow it. So I’ve only picked characters who already had something that Junko could pull on to manipulate them into despair. I also tried to get at least one person from every region! I'm not 100% certain about some of these, so I’d definitely love to hear other people’s thoughts! (And let’s see if anyone can guess which character I had the most thoughts for lol)
Kanto:
Chloe: I think I’ve talked about Chloe’s villain au potential before, but at least during the early part of the Journeys anime she fairly closed off and distant, her dad paid more attention to Goh and Ash then to her, and there were loads of instances where he put his Pokémon work above her needs and family plans.
Jessibelle: Listen, Jessie and James are too whimsical for something like this but Jessibelle was already a physically abusive gold digger lol so I’m sure Junko would have something to work with there.
Johto:
Silver: Not only is his dad a globally wanted criminal, but he also abandoned Silver when he went into hiding (I think that’s the backstory at least), and Silver has a lot of dialogue about treating Pokémon only as tools. If being a strong trainer didn’t get Giovanni’s attention, then maybe being a Remnant would.
Clair: Okay I’m going to be honest, I realized there weren’t enough girls on the list and threw Clair on last minute, but she also is super annoying in the Johto games lol. Like come on I won the battle just give me the badge!!
Hoenn:
Courtney: So in the Pokémon Masters phone game there’s a bit where Courtney is shown to really believe in the Team Magma cause and really hates Team Aqua even after everything had been resolved at the end of ORAS, so I think Junko could get her that way. Have Courtney convinced that it’s her duty to keep Team Magma’s ideals alive even if the rest of the team forgot them.
Sinnoh:
Cyrus: Cyrus failed. All that effort to create his perfect world, catching the lake spirits, scaling Mount Corinette, he got so close— Just to have it all come crashing down at the last moment. His life’s work destroyed by some kid! He already had little to no patience for humanity, so thanks to Junko’s influence fine, he’ll make this world so unbearable to live in that people will beg him to create his perfect world at last.
Saturn: Saturn will follow Cyrus anywhere, both Pokémon Masters and the Chronicles of Arceus movie showed that if the Commanders are put in a situation without Cyrus they will go to any lengths to get him back. Saturn's devotion runs deep, so if Cyrus says despair is the answer then that’s what it’ll be.
Unova:
Roxy: I’ve got nothing to justify this one with other then Junko wanted an Ibuki replacement to preform silly little despair concerts and I needed someone to rep Unova.
Kalos:
Sycamore: I’m not the first person to say Sycamore and Lysander were in love if not in a full blown relationship when everything went down in Kalos. But Lysander died, crushed under the weapon he’d risked everything to restore. The longer Sycamore goes without him the more he notices the flaws in humanity Lysander was talking about. People are selfish and greedy, look at the state of the world! Professors in Paldea nearly caused an ecological nightmare! The president of the Galar region Pokémon league almost plunged the world into eternal darkness! Not to mention what the morons over in Hoenn tried to do. If even people that were supposed to be trustworthy were causing this much chaos then there was no hope for the rest of humanity. If he could just get Lysander back, just see him one more time— tell him he’d been right, Sycamore was sorry for not seeing it sooner, that he missed him, and that if he could go back he’d have never given those kids the Pokémon that he was ultimately defeated by. If he could just get him back— if there was just some way— like if there was a big, giant, ancient machine that was capable of bringing back the dead still sitting in pieces in Geosenge Town…
Tumblr media
Alola:
Faba: Is anyone really surprised? Faba is a little weasel of a man and will jump ship to whoever currently holds the most power. He could be a Branch Chief again! Or even better, if he does a good enough job maybe Junko will give him the whole Aether Foundation as a reward! (She won’t, but the possibility would always be held over his head to keep him in line)
Hau: Okay but hear me out— in the Ultra games specifically Hau has a few interactions with Guzma where he taunts him about being in his grandpa’s shadow and never being able to prove himself as a strong trainer. Gladion’s dialogue reinforces this, that Hau is always too busy goofing off and never takes anything seriously. If Hau’s just stuck there, his friends surpacing him, his rivals surpacing him, the mantle of Kahuna an unattainable goal constantly hovering over him, all those expectations and the realization he’s never going to meet any of them— it might become too much to deal with.
Galar:
Rose: He was only trying to help! Why couldn’t anyone see that? Galar needed Eternatus and the dynamax particles it could make, Rose had been saving the world! They were all so ungrateful, locking him in jail for saving them, who do they think they are? He made this region into what it is today! Everyone relies on Macro Cosmos, and he ran the entire Pokémon league on top of that! That Leon would be nothing without him! It was a region of ungrateful brats. But even so, he’ll still keep working to ‘help’ them all again, you’re welcome.
Oleana: *holds up photos of Oleana and of Peko* Corporate needs you to find the difference between these two pictures. They’re the same picture.
Raihan: He had to beat him. If he just trained harder, more sandstorms, bigger dragons, if he wanted it more. Leon couldn’t be invincible, he couldn’t be, and Raihan would prove it. Turn all of Galar to a battle ground if he needed, but he was going to take down that champion once and for all.
Paldea:
Kieran: Again, no one’s surprised. Just take BB league champion Kieran and turn him up to 11, and boom. Remnant Kieran. He’s still on a hunt for a legendary Pokémon, if he can just find one of those then he’ll be strong enough to defeat anyone right!
Bonus, all the Team Star bosses: I’m thinking they’d be like the equivalent of the Warriors of Hope, not really part of the Remnants group but still very much in despair. I mean come on, a group of bullied teens like that, Junko would have a field day.
And there we go! 15 Remnants plus five Warriors of Hope! I thoroughly enjoyed this ask, I know some of the concepts were much more fleshed out then others, I almost went with Misty and Brock for Kanto (his parents abandoned him to raise all his younger siblings while being the city gym leader, and Misty was so stuck in her sister's shadow she ran away from home) but I just couldn’t do that to two of my childhood faves. (Pierce and Gladion also almost made the list).

Its all over now people i have been granted incredible power! Ty to @claiborneart for showing me how to operate a laser cutter eehehe. He turned out beautiful, and i love him🥹
Under the cut: some shots of the cutter in motion, and some process and color test shots.
Here was the original sketch i’d based the linework off. Actually the first drawing of Jim I’d done while i was learning how he worked! The second image are the final lines i used(minus the sparkle, which i added later) for the cutter, and an idea of where i wanted the outside cutlines to be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I sent that through the cutter program and made a bunch of him!
These are some tests i’d done on a few duds to pick out and practice painting the colors:
Tumblr media
After that I went assembly line mode and painted each one extremely carefully one color at a time using the tests as reference!
Tumblr media
Also… he’s got blacklight capabilities eehehe!

My part of the art exchange for the @steddiebang2024 with @bleedingoptimism
This is my colored version of their lineart
I loved working on this! I definitely went a different way than I originally planned but the linework was gorgeous and I'm happy with how it turned out.
