Phoenix is not by any means a bad dad. I'm not going to pretend he was a perfect dad because that would be incorrect and boring. it's definitely Not Great from a parental standpoint that he has to get his daughter to help him cheat at poker (and later in court) ((although from a non-parental standpoint I think this rules and is awesome)) and seems to semi-regularly be off the grid for awhile with trucy having no idea where he is or what he's doing. And it's definitely Bad that trucy feels in any way responsible for her father's well-being, they are definitely codependent in a way that's not super kosher ((I also think this is awesome)) but the thing about this all is that these are all failings in responsibility that are super consistent with phoenixs previously established behavior. This is the kind of guy who would drag an 8 year old around a murder scene because it helps him pull himself together.

And there's also just the larger context of like. Phoenix was literally 26 years old, just lost his job, and suddenly had an incredibly precocious and traumatized child dropped into his lap to raise as a single parent. and the. Somewhere along the line being unemployed changed to having two jobs - playing poker at various clubs and also developing the jurist system which seems to have been a pretty Involved process. So yeah. Of course he was kind of flaky! Dude is probably under a killer, nightmarish amount of stress and responsibility for a really long time. And also somewhat heavily implied to have a drinking problem.

But despite the fact it is beyond clear at every turn that he loves trucy so so so much, and does the best he can to take care of her at every turn. She's happy and healthy and loved!! but not only that, phoenixs "I'm the only one who knows how she really feels" line near the end of aa4 makes it pretty clear that phoenix understands trucy has a lot of issues she's masking and is there for her in that regard too. What more does a guy have to do to be considered a decent dad around here!!

Record of Justice: Wonder Woman! Reader HCs

I am so gay for Diana.

- Brunhilde doesn't HESITAITE to choose you as one of her champions, seeing as you're both demi-gods who come from a warrior race of women, I can see you and her honestly having a lot in common together.

- But yeah, no, Diana's whole thing is that she wants to save the world of man so even of Brunhilde didn't choose her, you would have still chosen to fight because it was your duty.

- So Wonder Woman has multiple origins: Her original one being that she was born from clay by her mother but there are versions she has a dad which kinda switches between Hades and Zeus. Zeus will be your father in this case because I genuinely like the idea of him blowing his fucking gasket when he sees you enter in the side of humanity.

- "YOU KNOW HER, YOU LOVE HER: LADIES AND GENTLEGODS, GIVE IT UP FOR THE AMAZONIAN PRINCESS AND SAVIOR OF MAN: (Y/N)!!!"

- Ares and Wonder Woman have so much beef in the comics so you and him definetly don't see eye to eye now. In fact, Ares would fight you himself if he could but like, you're also kinda scary when you're mad.

- Zeus and Poseidon are literally about to blow a fucking gasket when they see you. Zeus is more subtle as usual as he's all: "Oh, well she's always been the black sheep of the family!" but in reality, he feels deeply betrayed. Poseidon isn't surprised honestly, he genuinely believes you should have grown up with the Olympians instead of on Themyscira because then maybe you'd learn to look down on those pathetic humans instead of protecting them.

- Tbh, Poseidon does have a bit of a soft spot for you as his niece because you're the only one whose ever DARED to back talk him despite knowing his power. He wishes your mother, Hippolyta, wasn't such a stubborn woman. I can totally see moments when you're absolutely destroying Gods and Poseidon just smiling proudly at you but then quickly scowling so no one can see him.

- However the Greek Gods who explicitly still care for you are definetly Hermes, Hercules, and Aphrodite.

- Aphrodite, being your big sister, absolutely adores you even if you two aren't on the same side. She smiles when she sees you and if she can, she will try to catch you in the hallways and pull you into a hug, meanwhile you're kinda suffocating in her bosom. She compliments you on what a strong and beautiful woman you've become, the only reason she isn't upset with you for "betraying" the family is because...well, you've always been like that. It's just nice to see you again♡

-As for Hercules, you both are Demi gods and while you acknowledge humanities faults, you welcomed him with open arms and appreciate his dedication. You two might not be bound by blood but the way you carry each other's ideals and respect and tease each other, its very clear you two have an unbreakable bond.

- Hermes adored you since you were born. Despite Themyscira's laws that men weren't allowed on the island, he was a God, and would happily come and see you to play with you. Taking on a big brother role in your life, he smiles softly as you glare at your father and he thinks you're just as cute as when you were a little toddler struggling to walk on the sandy beach coast of your island.

- As for the human side, they're all in literal wonder of you...which makes sense regarding your hero alias, but when they watched you at work: you impressed everyone while Brunhilde smiled at you and it pissed Zeus off even more when you both shook hands and sent him smug smirks on your faces.

Enemies/People Who Dislike You:

- Ares is a huge hater as I stated before, maybe you humiliated him in the past in front of Zeus, or maybe it was that one time you stole his helmet in a fight and became the New Goddess of War for a while but either way: you and him should never be in the same room together because not even the Gods can predict that disaster.

- Loki thought the rope thing was kinda hot but found out the hard way WHY it was called the Lasso of Truth. Even when he is shaped shifted, he will revert to his normal form if you ever catch him with it AND YOU ALWAYS FUCKING DO. He also can't even try and mislead you by telling you half truths because he just blurts out the truth right away. Everyone absolutely adores you for it, ngl since Loki doesn't even bother pulling tricks when you're around and when he sees you fight for humanity, he throws a huge tantrum...He still finds the rope thing hot tho...

- Zeus. He has conflicted feelings for you, he does love you but he wishes you wouldn't always go against his wishes...though he supposes thats what he gets for having your mother raise you instead of him. You show him respect but you clearly harbour bitter feelings for him betraying your trust and wanting to wipe out humanity and he understands that. It still doesn't give you the right to laugh about him with Brunhilde and he'll be sure to get you back for it.

Allies/Friends Who Trust You:

- Brunhilde is honestly a good friend of yours, I genuinely think she sees you the same way she sees Hercules but she relates to you a little more. (The Valkyries and Amazon's would have martinis on the beaches of Themyscira, fight me on that-)

- Shiva, honestly. He likes that you're strict but you can definetly be fun and silly in your own way. You honestly remind him of Rudra, who he totally tries to set you up with so because you two really have a lot in common!

- Obviously Hercules, Hermes, and Aphrodite but also: Poseidon, surprisingly...sometimes. Again, he does soften a bit when it comes to you and he wonders if you're simply stubborn and brave or stubborn and stupid. You are his favorite niece but also, the one that causes him to roll his eyes the most.

- Honestly, all of the Valkyries. When you heard about Brunhilde and her Völundr's, you knew that it was clever but also: that you couldn't just stand to let your fellow sisters in battle fall, the odds being against them. Also, the will all hug you and tackle you to the ground.

- Sasaki Kojiro is a human you take a liking too, he reminds you of a friend whose clad in all black...except he's more cheerful and happy and might have lost in life, but still: he never gives up. You admire those skills in a human and he gets all shy and flustered when you compliment him but I can totally see the both of you practicing sword fights and even moments where he beats you, which you're proud of him for doing, honestly.

- Adam. He genuinely just is the dad Zeus never was, even though you're not one of his own children, he'll fight like you are. Tbh, the only man that deserves to set foot in Themyscira and the other Amazon's would agree. Eve also gossiping with your Hippolyta in the crowd and complimenting her on raising such a wonderful daughter and they talk about mom things.

Admirers/Characters Who Have a Crush on You:

- Thor, just straight up. Since you're a fellow immortal, you two have somewhat known each other, you didn't really care much for the godly affairs so it wasn't often, but he's had the biggest crush on you. When he saw you fight so fearlessly in the crowd, those feelings came back 10 fold. Definetly wants to fight you because that's his way of flirting. Zeus and Odin 100% want to pair you two together to create an official alliance and while Thor wants you to choose him out of your own volition, he will suggest that it is a good idea.

- Jack the Ripper. HE HAS BISEXUAL PANIC BECAUSE HERCULES WAS ALREADY SOKIND TO HIM BUT YOU?? OH, YOU'RE TRULY DESERVING OF THE TITLE OF GODDESS, your color is so gorgeous; filled with such love and passion. After his battle, after he killed Hercules, he is ashamed to face you. But, amazingly, you do not look at him in disgust or shame. You kneel down and gently hold his face, you are in mourning, but you still kiss his head gently and tell him: "You fought well. Rest." and he just short circuits as you begin to carry him.

- BUDDHA, BABY. He loves how serious you are but also, that you can be pretty goofy honestly. Also loves how you stand up to Zeus constantly. Not to mention he certainly has a thing for strong women. But also, he finds your work inspiring, trying to guide humanity to a better life of enlightment. HIPPOLYTA ALSO TRYING TO SET YOU TWO UP BECAUSE SHE'S A COOL MOM AND SHE'S ALL: "You know, that Buddha has been staring at you~" and you have to be all: "MOTHER!" And he walks over to you and offers you a snack and you take it. Zeus hates him because he thinks Buddha would be a "bad influence" on you.

Wanna talk about mischaracterisation? They’re literally a comedic duo who interacts 24/7. Marchil is crazy bc ppl are like "did those shipper read with their eyes CLOSED?? They have no chemistry!" Meanwhile canon is like: "She’s obsessed with knowing everything she can about him and she reads him like a book." In her eyes he’s like that extra rare and hard and shiny unlockable dating sim character, that brooding mysterious character trope that’s thrilling to crack open and typically is at the center of the plot. The wife roleplay???? "Hey, did you know his type is blondes. Hey did you know he likes his women pretty and blonde. Hey did you know he likes her hair. Hey did you know that he teases her 24/7 and it’s one of the few things that consistently gets him grinning because he finds her reactions cute." Like a schoolyard bully pulling on the pigtails of the girl he likes.

It’s not like they have any thematic narratives or relevance. It’s not like she’ll live to 1000 and has existential dread about it while he’s logically gonna be her next friend to die at 50 and wether it’s romantic or platonic it’ll terrify her to lose him. It’s not like it’s fear of death x fear of rejection so they’re both obsessed with the thought of loss looming, past and ongoing. It’s not like it’s half-elf x half-foot and there’s an inherent journey that was and still is to dispel prejudices and truly come to see each other. It’s not like he’s painfully real and raw and flawed but still a good man, that he’s not the figure of prince charming that she’s always dreamed of while still being virtuous and worth fighting for. Or you know, her hair being golden and it being the epitome of beauty to him, and his hair turning silver and it being Marcille’s worst nightmare.

Just a weird wacky ship who means nothing but shallow things to people who have weirdo reasons for liking it. Like can you not. If you’re not imaginative enough to think of reasons why this ship may have an appealing dynamic that’s not my issue. But yes, yes, they’re both flat asses to me, thanks.

HOT TAKE. As a society, we are conditioned to hate final seasons. This is fair. We were all betrayed by Game of Thrones and Supernatural and whatnot. As someone who has never watched these (I have only heard generalised complaints about them), let me (drunkenly) yap about the Umbrella Academy s4.

I'm gonna try and keep this vaguely organised.

Luther

I was an adamant Luther hater back in season one and two, I will admit, meeting his actor at Comic Con in 2021 did colour my opinion a little bit, but I loved him in season three. I mean, his romance with Sloane always felt a little rushed to me, but it was certainly sweet, and their wedding was a nice tie in to the "we only see each other at weddings and funerals" thing.

Pros;

In season four, I loved him. He's optimistic about life and goes to great lengths to brighten the moods of people around him, which is the kind of person he lacked all his life. He's being the person he always needed and I love that for him.

The implication that he's pushing aside his festering feelings of dissatisfaction for his life to be there for other people is so moving, and also I love those moments where him and Allison get to just be normal siblings, showing that he's moved on from that toxic era of his life.

His fight scenes are epic and he's all round a good character this season. I understand people's disdain for being sidelined, along with his grief for Sloane, but there are a certain two factors that should be taken into consideration here. The first being that, by s4e1, its been six years since he lost her. He has probably processed that grief and moved on by now, despite how profound the loss. Obviously he still thinks about her, which is why he occasionally brings her up, but it's been a long time. Additionally, he's semi-sidelined because his character arc was pretty well rounded by the end of s3. He's moved on from Allison and was on a trajectory for a healthier life. Its tragic that he lost Sloane, but good that he continued trying to be happy.

Cons;

I do wish his relationship with Ben had been more developed this season. To me, I think the implication is that he's hanging on to Sparrow Ben as a brother (in-law) because he's the closest remaining connection to the Sparrow Academy, therefore Sloane.

Why is he living in the decrepit Sparrow Academy house? Why? Literally why??? This needed more explanation.

Diego

My mother hates him. I lowkey love him. In season two, his character plus his saviour complex was explored so fucking well. I loved him then. I think his character in season three is a decent testament to how boring 'settling down' can be.

Pros;

He reacts very well to everything that happens. That's the best way I could explain it. The realisation that sometimes life is just normal. Its a sweet plotline and I enjoyed it

I loved his relationship with Luther, his visit to the CIA and the fun approach to his power this season.

His final words to Lila, that he knew she didn't mean to hurt him, were so mature and a brilliant way of rounding off his character with a sense of satisfaction and finality. I loved it so much. In that moment, before everything, he was her husband, and that was beautiful.

Cons;

I have very few. I think his depiction as a mailman is silly. I just wish it had been a different job.

Also I wish he'd spoken more Punjabi because I'm pretty sure (correct me if I'm wrong) he learnt that to converse with Lila and her family in their native language, despite Lila's family speaking English.

Why was he immature enough to fight with Five over his wife when the literal world was ending? Not very consistent with his character development but I still liked that scene. Honestly, that was obviously written in as a segue to Five going back to the subway so I guess it did have to be there it just felt a bit weird.

Allison

Oh dear God. Allison Hargreeves, what happened to you? I loved her so much in seasons one and two. Season three Allison ruined everything ever forever. Not through bad writing. Through very good and despicably devastating writing. She has lost so much and she coped with it so badly that she altered all of time to avoid her grief. The evillest girlboss of all time.

Pros;

CLAIRE! Claire Bear. I love you. Thank you season four for giving us Claire and Claire/Allison bonding time.

Also the fact that she's coping with her being a terrible human being by babysitting Klaus for five years (which she is obviously very spiteful about) is very well written.

I like the return of Allison badassery when she shows up and literally busts a man's balls.

I like how she ends the show being physically vulnerable and now Klaus is taking care of her now. That was cute.

Also I love that she's being held accountable for her actions and it makes her a slightly better person! That was fun.

I like that we learn that without her power she was a B-list actor at best.

Cons;

What the fuck were her powers this season? I know they got janky marigold but why is she literally just telekinetic now????

Why didn't they tell us why Ray walked out? She literally altered time to get him back. Like, I know Allison has fucked up every relationship she's ever had but PLEASE tell us what happened.

Also fuck you for what you did to Klaus.

Klaus.

Oh, Klaus Hargreeves, the man that you were. Season one. TRAGIC. I loved it. Season two, the exact same commentary. Season three, I loved him so much, he keeps being my FAVOURITE and also the idea that the drugs and trauma thwarted the full potential of his powers, but the drugs was the only thing that could keep him sane because of his trauma and his powers was so cool. Well done for beginning to overcome your rampant daddy issues Klaus. Season four. He is still my favourite.

Pros;

Having him sell his body in the weirdest way possible was amazing. I love to see it.

The moment between him and Claire where she knew exactly what was happening and he just repeats 'it's too late' and swears at her. Beautifully devastating.

Him getting buried alive was so fucking fitting I can't properly explain it I just love it.

His final line, and the third-to-final line of dialogue in the whole shows being 'I just wanna say, I love you guys, but you're all assholes' sums up perfectly. And it just had to be him that said that. He can never escape his nihilism and I love him for it. Its who he is.

Learning that the 'real' Klaus is a total germophobe was fun.

Cons;

Give my man more screen time. I beg. I am on my knees begging. Please Mr Blackman. Please Mr Way. Give the love of my life more screen time.

I wish Dave had been mentioned once or twice. Dave is forever a part of Klaus. Why didn't he try to contact him when he got his powers back? Why has he forgotten him? If Luther gets a Sloane mention then Klaus should have gotten a Dave mention. I guess Netflix hates the queers unless they're from Heartstopper (/j)

Five

Five is my mother's favourite and she was vomming this season because of you-know-what. The poor woman. She still loves him though, So did I. Five defines The Umbrella Academy. He spent two seasons wearing the uniform, he got the first f-bomb, he was responsible for SO much exposition. All in all, he is quintessential to the aesthetic, plot, and entire existence of the series. Did season four give him justice?

Pros;

I love Five being a CIA agent. This is so him.

Jerome is a funny name for him.

He doesn't ever stop being himself and I love that.

I like how blunt he is about the fact they all have to end their existence. He understands existentialism and his place in the universe more than his siblings (and most people ever) can fathom. It had to be him to deliver that news and he does it so well.

Cons;

The elephant in the room. Him and Lila. I see it. I see the vision. Yes. If two people spend seven years with only each other for company, suspended in time, they will probably develop a romantic relationship. That doesn't make me like it. It is in character for him to lie to Lila (or withhold information from her)about knowing the way home. I just hated every second of it. I thought they were going to steer clear of Five romantic relationships because of how weird his ageing is. He's mentally more than twenty years older than Lila and physically more than ten years younger than her. It is gross. I hate it. It was a reasonable plot choice Honestly, their relationship remaining strictly platonic would have been less realistic than what happened but when has this show ever been realistic? I will say, it makes sense for Five to revert to old coping mechanisms (I am referring to Delores) in a time like this, it's just that this time he had a real person to enact them with. In times of utter distress, Five is a romanticist, so at least his character is consistent.

Why didn't they let him wear a suit that fits him? That was not nice.

Ben

Sparrow Ben is a sexy cunt. I love how much of a knob he is. All the time. This season was a slay for him. We heart assimilation allegories for love and obsession.

Pros;

I repeat - I love the assimilation metaphor. He didn't get to go with grace. I've seen people criticising that he got no meaningful death scene but that's the point. His meaningful death was stolen from him because of his unhealthy obsession with Jennifer and how deeply in love with her he was. It's a commentary of how toxic and co-dependant relationships will destroy a person. I love it.

I love the scene where him and Jennifer are sat either side of the wall watching the same movie. That was so fucking cute.

Cons;

The CGI for his powers was shit. He looked like the squid version of She-Hulk.

Why have the Umbrellas just adopted him into his family? That was weird.

Victor

I have always loved him. Best trans representation I've ever seen. Autism coded. The amount of times I said 'His powers are just autism sensory overload' or 'his powers are just anger issues' has probably burned the phrase into my mother's mind.

Pros;

I like that he was a manwhore in Canada.

I love him having control over his powers this season. We support self control my man.

I love how adamant he is to save Ben. All this man has ever wanted was to save someone. And he never could. So he sacrificed himself to save the world.

Cons;

I was not here for the fit this season. The boots. The jean jacket. Not a serve. I am sorry.

He was kinda cringe and irrelevant this season I'm not gonna lie.

Lila

Thank you Lila for being what I picture when I hear Golden Brown. It makes me happy.

Pros;

A devoted mother. We love her. I also love that her character involves her children but she's more than that. But she still sacrifices everything for them. "Make sure to read to Gracie every night! And don't let the twins fight!" absolutely destroyed me.

I don't know what it is but her fit ate this season.

Her final words being 'Fuck you!' was fun.

Cons;

Her 'LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME' personality got annoying after about four episodes. Not even in s4, just in general.

I wish her backstory had been more addressed this season. It was just completely ignored. Sad.

The Plot.

Pros;

If this show is anything, it is self aware. It makes fun of itself for just doing the apocalypse four times. I love it.

The tragic ending. Too many shows have happy endings these days. I need my bittersweet tragedy and the Umbrella Academy delivered. It actually made me bawl because these characters meant so fucking much to me.

I always said that Klaus's story couldn't end without him dying. I also felt like Five dying would work. Now I think that if one of them goes, they all have to. They were born at the same time and they died that way too. It explains WHY they keep ending the world. Their very existence is apocalyptic. They are a collective incarnation of the apocalypse and that just rounds off the show in such a meaningful way.

I know people hate the 'one true timeline' thing and the 'they all die' thing and feel like its a copout, but its so beautiful to me. They were the problem the whole time. They can't just find some creative and resourceful way out of it this time. This is the end. That's WHY the SONG in the TRAILER WAS 'THE END' by My Chemical Romance!!!!!!!!!!!

Cons;

The plot holes like why does Luther getting his powers back give him his monkey body back when the life-saving surgery that he didn't need in this timeline didn't happen???

Along with many other plot holes that have already been pointed out within this post and by other people a million times so I won't go through the tedium of doing what has already been done.

Special mentions!

The Gene & Jean dance scene! The show knew they couldn't get away with making the Umbrellas dance again but they needed an obligatory Umbrella Academy dance scene and they ATE IT UP.

The song they danced to was also a banger, which segues nicely into my next mention which is the SOUNDTRACK. It SLAPS. Muse! Bloodhound Gang! Cher! ALL IN ONE SHOW. The Umbrella Academy's soundtrack has always been amazing and season four is not any different.

The closing line "On the eighth of august 2024" etc. DESTROYED ME.

Random criticism though - the casting for the teen versions of the Umbrellas was ATROCIOUS. Klaus somehow looked five years old and in his mid forties at the same time.

You and Bella had been together for three years and not even once you doubted that you wanted to spend the rest of your life with them. Bella was everything you’ve ever wanted. They were kind, funny, beautiful, and most importantly, they always made sure to make you feel loved. 

You knew how important their career was to them and you respected that. The Last of Us was a huge success and Bella was out a lot, doing interviews and even getting new jobs. You were so proud of them and just seeing that sparkle in their eyes was enough to make you forget any problem you had going on. 

Well, you had a few problems going on. You just released your second book and the book launch was awesome, except for a little detail. Bella wasn’t there. 

It’s okay, you thought. They were busy with work. It happens. But just because it happens doesn’t mean that it didn’t hurt a bit. Especially when you found out that they didn’t show up because of an interview. Interviews can be rescheduled. Especially when it was someone like Bella. Pedro rescheduled an interview two times a while ago just because his sister needed some help with the children. He said that family always comes first. 

It was your second book. You had been writing it for two years, working every single detail of it. It was a big deal. Maybe she didn’t see you as family, you thought. That was when all the problems became to appear. All your insecurities, all your internal conflicts. You spent the whole book launch overthinking every part of your relationship. 

When you got home, you knew Bella would be there. They had your key and asked if they could go to your place after the interview. You said yes, of course. Didn’t matter if you were slightly hurt, you just wanted to be with them. 

“Hey! How was it?”, Bella smiled when they saw you walk inside the apartment. 

“It was good”, you smiled back and gave them a big hug. “I missed you so much.” 

Bella laughed at how muffled your voice was because of the way your face was hidden on the curve of their neck. “I missed you too, darling.”

“I know. It’s why I ordered some pizza”, they pointed to the box on the center table in front of the couch. 

“Oh, you’re the best!”, you throwed your body on the comfortable couch and sighed. “Is it pepperoni?” 

“Yes...”, they sat next to you and grabbed one piece, giving it to you. 

“Thank God... I mean, I know you’re like, a hater of meat eaters, but...” 

“I’m not a hater!” 

“You are kind of a hater. It’s why I appreciate this”, you grabbed the slice of pizza. 

Bella grabbed one slice of the other pizza, the one without meat, and looked at you. You two smiled at each other and toasted the slices before eating it. 

The time went by and considering how hungry the two of you were, it didn’t take long for the pizza to disappear. Between one bite and another, you told Bella about the event. You told everything, like you wanted them to see it. You really wanted them to see it. And when Bella realized it, they felt terrible for not being there. 

“I’m so sorry I wasn’t there.” 

“You already said that”, you laughed and held their hand. 

You were with your head laid on their shoulder and you felt them kissing your hair. 

“No, I mean it.” 

You raised your head to look at Bella. “It’s fine, you were working.” 

“You’re not mad at me?” 

“No!”. 

You were a little mad, but it would pass. There was no reason to ruin that moment with a stupid argument. They were sorry, that’s all that mattered to you. 

“At least you read my book, it’s more than what my own mother did, so...”, you joked. 

But Bella didn’t laugh. In fact, they gulped. 

“You read it, right?” 

The response was the silence. All the walls you used to hide how disappointed you were collapsed right there. 

“You didn’t even read my book?”, you dropped their hand. 

“I was going to...” 

“I gave it to you, like, a month ago.” 

“I was going to read it, I swear! It’s just that there were so many things going on that I...” 

“Oh my God”, you stood up from the couch. “You really don’t care, do you?” 

“What?”, they stood up as well. “Of course I do!” 

“Yes, of course you do, but never as much as you care about your own work!” 

Both of you were angry now. Bella was feeling offended. It wasn’t like they were terrible all the time, Bella was always doing the best to make you happy. 

“Are you kidding me?” 

“No, Bella, it’s just the truth.” 

“Imagine if I told you that every time you say no when I invite you to an event, how would you feel?” 

“It’s different, Bella. You’re great at what you do.” 

“And so are you!” 

“It’s not the same thing!”, you yelled. “People love you. You’re successful.” 

“So what? You want me to not be good at my job?” 

“No, damnit! What I'm trying to tell you is that we’re different. You’re on, like, a thousand tv shows”, you pointed at her and then at yourself. “My biggest achievement was a book written three years ago and after that, all I do is sit and watch while the world around me continues to move.” 

Bella stood silent, waiting for you to finish with tears in their eyes. 

“The one thing that kept me going was this stupid plot I had in my mind during a shower, a stupid plot that I worked so fucking hard for two years. You were there, you saw it! I fucking cried myself to sleep wondering if I would ever do anything good again”, you dried your tears with the sleeve of your sweater. “And I finally did it! I did it, and it’s so good, and I wanted you to be there so you could see how good I am. I wanted to give you a reason to be proud of me!” 

When you were done talking, Bella didn’t say anything. They didn’t even look at you. 

“I think I should go”, they said. 

“You’re going to leave? Really?” 

“I just...”, they sighed. “I need to be alone now.” 

Bella gave you no time to say anything. They grabbed their bag that was on the corner table next to the door and left. 

“Yeah, that is really fucking mature, Bella!”, you yelled before the door was closed and they were gone. 

The morning after that night was awful. You and Bella never had a fight like that. You tried to call them 2 times since you woke up, but it was useless. At first, you thought they were asleep, that’s why they haven’t answer. But the day went by, the night came again, and they still gave you no answer. Talking to their mom, you found out where Bella was. 

“Locked in their room”, she said through the phone. 

“Okay, can I talk to them?”, you asked nervously. 

“Did you guys have a fight?” 

“Ah...”, you were not sure you wanted to talk about this. 

“Alright, you don’t have to tell me”, she calmed you down. “Bella asked me to say that they’re busy, if anyone called.” 

Shit, they were going to break up with you. 

“I though Pedro and Bella were supposed to be on a tv show today.” 

“Bella rescheduled.” 

Okay, so whatever Bella was doing, it was more important than you, apparently. 

“Oh...” 

Bella’s mom sighed. She knew the two of you enough to tell that something was off. 

“Honey don’t worry”, she said. “I’m sure you guys will figure this out.” 

It didn’t feel like it. 

“Okay”, you agreed. “Thank you, I'll try to call them again later.” 

“Bella loves you very much, you’ll be fine.” 

You thanked her again before hanging up. Not a second after that, you got a message from Pedro, answering one of your texts asking about Bella. 

“They didn’t say anything to me. Just that something came up and that it was urgent, so we had to reschedule the interview.” 

You couldn’t stop a tear from rolling down your cheek as you typed. 

“I think they’re gonna break up with me” 

Pedro was fast to answer that one. 

“Bella is crazy for you. Shut up.” 

You let out a sad laugh. Pedro was so sure of it that you were a bit jealous of that confidence. Bella never did that before. Honestly, it felt like it was already done. You could imagine them coming to your apartment to pick up their stuff and you could see yourself begging for them to stay. Were you being dramatic? Maybe, but it felt real. 

You laid on your couch, curled up in a ball of blankets that smelled like Bella. It was funny how much you missed them, considering that you saw each other last night. But this was different, this time they didn’t say the ‘I love you’ that they always said before leaving. No, they said ‘I need to be alone’. 

That was it? Three years of relationship thrown away because of a book. 

The sound of the doorbell brough you back to earth in a flinch. You stood from the couch and stared at the door. What if it was them? You didn’t want to hear it right now. You couldn’t handle it. Not now. 

“I know you’re in there, the lights are on.” 

Shit. It was Bella. Trying to be silent, you reached for the light switch and turned it off. 

“Did you just turn the lights off?” 

“No...”, you answered, soon closing your eyes and hating yourself for being so fucking stupid. 

With no other options, you walked to the door and opened it. 

“Why did you kill him?”, Bella asked. 

They had dark circles around their eyes and on their hands, was the book you gave them. Your book. 

“What?”, you were still trying to process it. 

Bella entered the apartment without even asking. “Why did you kill him? Do you know how sick and twisted this is?!” 

“What are you talking about?” 

“Your book!”, they pointed at it. 

You closed the door and continued to stare at them without having any idea of what was going on. “You read it?” 

“I read the first two pages last night and just couldn’t stop”, they said, gesticulating every word in excitement. “Why did you kill him? Do you know how much I cried?” 

And then you realized. She was talking about the main character on your book. 

“Well, I...” 

“I mean, do you have a problem with happy endings? This is the best book I've ever read, and you had to kill my favorite character?” 

You didn’t know what to say. “How did you finish it so fast?” 

“I was up all night.” 

Oh, so that’s why... 

“And you didn’t even think of, I don’t know, check your fucking phone?”, you yelled. “I thought you were going to break up with me!” 

Bella finally stopped talking and looked at you with confusion in their eyes. 

“Why would I break up with you? I love you.” 

You breathed in relief and closed your eyes. “You dumbass”, you whispered before wrapping your arms around their waist on a tight hug. 

Bella was still confused, but they hugged you back and ran their fingers through your hair. “I’m so sorry I made you think that.” 

You raised your head to look at them. With all the tenderness in the world, Bella touched your cheeks and kissed you on the lips. All the worries, all the sadness, it was all gone. When they pulled away, their arms were still around your neck and your faces were still close. 

“So that's what you were doing?”, you asked with the smile on your lips that Bella loved so much. They nodded. “And you cried?”, Bella nodded again. “Good.” 

Bella laughed and gave you another kiss. “I should’ve been there. And I should’ve read it the same day you gave it to me...” 

“It’s fine.” 

“Shut up, let me finish”, they interrupted, and you let out a laugh. “I am so proud of you. You’re so good at everything you do and this book...”, Bella sighed. “This book is just heartbreaking, perfect, sad, beautiful, thrilling...” 

“Yes, I got it”, you giggled, already blushing from so many compliments. 

“Exciting, original, sensational, fantastic...” 

“Okay!”, you covered their mouth with your hand. “You loved it, I get it.” 

Bella tried to say something, so you removed your hand. 

“Are we good?”, they asked. 

You answered it with another kiss. 

“Okay, I think we’re good”, Bella smiled. 

“Yes. Yes, we are.”

Haters wear pink - Eurylares Chapter 2 (Long chapter)

Trigger warnings: Some blood here and there but other than that, nothing.

Side note: Epic is going to be like the movie Hercules; Ancient Greek times but with modern elements and slang during further chapters.

It's been a good five months since Eurylochus and Ares have been dating. Things have been going normally. Well, as normal as dating a god would be.

Eury has never been happier to finally find someone and same for Ares. Yeah, he was in a relationship only eight to nine months ago but that was more of a scandalous thrill to him, this...this felt real and serious to him though.

Every god in the Greek Pantheon knows about their relationship already without even meeting Eurylochus. Zeus is indifferent but wants to see how things turn out (knowing how Mortal and God relationships turn out). Hera is happy for her baby, at least SOME relationships have the ability to work out...hopefully.

Athena was mildly concerned at first because she's never seen him so...giddy or excited before. Not even in his last relationship. But now she's a little happier for him.

Hephaestus is still GREATLY bitter about what happened between him, Ares, and his ex-wife. So, he could care less about what happens to either of them.

Eury's family and friends are greatly concerned for his wellbeing but know they can't do anything about it. Even when Eury assures them, he's okay they still worry. That's what family and friends do.

Hades and Poseidon could legitimately care less, and that goes for the rest of the Pantheon. It's interesting but not worth their time to fully invest themselves in.

But you know who is angry though? Aphrodite! But why? Why would the goddess of love and beauty be hateful of their relationship?...Ares broke up with her four months before, that's why. For somRe context, Aphrodite and Ares were sneaking around with each other...while Aphrodite was married to Hephaestus.

One thing led to another, and Hephaestus caught both of them in the act by an 'invisible' golden net, and if that wasn't embarrassing enough, he invited all of the other Olympians to laugh at them both.

Now, even though Aphrodite was forced into the marriage by Zeus, Hephaestus was a good husband to her. He adored her greatly and showered her with divine gifts he made with his own godly craftsmanship. Aphrodite played him like a fool and had many affairs behind his back, one of which was Ares. So, his anger towards both of them is warranted.

After being humiliated in front of everyone, Ares broke up with Aphrodite in the middle of the divorce. Aphrodite pretended that she understood but was greatly pissed on the inside.

"It's okay Ares, I understand, no worries"

He dares break up with her?! THE Aphrodite? he must've lost his mind.

Two months after they broke up, of course, Ares fell in love with Eurylochus, we know this. That was a problem for Aphrodite in and of itself, but when Ares said

"You are more beautiful than Aphrodite herself"

Yeah...if you know anything about Aphrodite, you know she doesn't take others being more beautiful than her lightly. Especially not others being called more beautiful than her.

The sheer audacity of that statement made Aphro's gold blood boil tremendously. First, Ares breaks up with her, next Ares finds a MORTAL to date TWO months afterwards, and lastly...he called this mortal more beautiful than her.

Ares surely didn't care for Eurylochus' wellbeing...

Now, as Eurylochus is minding his own business tending to the crops on his farm. A being that glowed light pink watched him from afar. Aphrodite was getting a good look at him.

Eurylochus was in a grey toga, his skin had a few droplets of sweat on it, making him glisten a bit. His eyelashes were long, and his full lips sat on his face with a natural pout due to his genetics.

He's quite the looker, much to Aphro's dismay, if it weren't for the current situation she would've went for him herself.

Slowly, she made him way over to him, going around the crops and looked around. No other person in sight. Her blonde hair swayed with the wind and her green eyes zeroed in on him as she quietly made herself stand behind him. Target acquired.

"You must be Eurylochus"

The sudden unfamiliar voice made Eurylochus pause for a moment. The young man (Well, he'd be thirty in a week, much to his dismay) turned around and was face to face with a very tall, beautiful woman. Around four to five feet taller than him at best.

'Aphrodite' his mind told him. It couldn't be anyone else. Most men weren't as tall as Eurylochus, let alone the women of Ithica. That and her entire body had a soft pink glow.

What was she doing here?

Before he could even get a word in, she spoke-

"It's finally nice to meet you, Ares has told me soooo much about you!" Lies, Ares hasn't spoken a word to her since they broke up. Her voice was as sweet as her honey tanned skin, but her eyes told something much more...sinister.

Eury raised a brow as he saw right through her lie in less than a Peloponnesian minute but wouldn't voice it. No point.

"He has? Hm, well, nice to meet you I suppose...is there something you...want to know?" Eurylochus tried to sound as nice as he could without sounding suspicious, but he wasn't the world's greatest actor.

"Oh yes of course, but I would like for you to do something for me first!" Her smile got wider as she clasped her hands together.

"And that is?"

She was hoping he would ask that, gosh, mortals are so predictable.

"I'm so glad you asked!" She said cheerfully, "You see, Ares is a good dear friend of mine, and I don't want him to get hurt."

Oh dear...where was this going

"Okay"

"So, do you think you could do some tasks for me? Just a way to show your devotion to him?"

"Tasks?" Eurylochus put his hand on his right hip as he narrowed his eyes at her. Bullsh*t was afoot, and Eury could smell it.

"Yes, just some simple tasks, shouldn't be a hassle" Aphrodite looked at her nails to pretend she wasn't all too interested in the conversation...but oh boy, she was. A smirk seeped into her lips as she looked back at him, putting her arms behind her back "Do you accept?"

"Do I have a choice?" Is something Eurylochus WOULD have said, but he knows now wasn't the time for sarcasm. Plus...he would do anything for Ares, so why not?

The mortal man sighed with his head down and for a few seconds, he was quiet, putting the basket down. After that he looked up at her and straightened up his posture. His arms crossed over his chest boldly.

"Sure, why not, these are going to be simple right?" Eury knew it was a stupid question, but he just wanted to see if the pink goddess in front of him would tell the truth or not.

"Of cooouuuurse, these will be perfectly simple. No biggie. Just three simple tasks" Aphrodite chuckled in her head, please...like he'd made it through the first one.

Once again, he saw right through the lie but ignored it "Alright then, what's the first one?"

Aphrodite giggled and took Eurylochus' hand, gripping it painfully tight. Before Eury could voice his pain, he and Aphrodite popped like bubbles and appeared on in front of what seemed to be a volcano. There were huge iron doors that clung to the volcano's contents, withholding whatever was inside.

"I need you to back a flame from the forge of the god of blacksmiths." Aphrodite handed him a torch, where she got it? who knows.

"Hephaestus?!" Eurylochus asked in slight panic. He stepped back a bit.

"Relax, he's my husband, he ain't there right now!" She said with a kind smile as she grabbed his hand and forced the unlit torch into it.

For some reason, that felt like a lie to Eurylochus. But again, he won't voice it.

"Go on, I'll stay in front. And remember, you only have an hour!" Aphrodite had a pink hourglass appear. White glittering sand was falling down as the seconds passed by.

The large iron doors opened to reveal what looked like a tunnel that curved ever so slightly to the right. A shiver went down Eury's spine but, he will prevail.

Before he could say anything else, the doors slammed shut on him. Great...just great. Hephaestus was the god of blacksmiths...what kind of guards could he have?

Aphrodite knew what she was doing. She knows every god is aware of Eury's existence to some capacity, including her ex-husbands. She hoped that all the anger and bitterness he felt toward Ares and her would be rained down on Eurylochus.

Eury stood there for a few moments...blinking twice just to see if this was a dream or not. He would attempt to pinch himself but decided against it.

He turned around and saw the orange light that painted the tunnel. Welp, no going back now. As quietly as he could, he walked down the tunnel.

At the end of it he heard banging and clanking noises. It was either Hephaestus or the guards, whichever it was he doesn't want to interact with either of them.

Eurylochus peaked his head out from the tunnel and saw...the one and only Hephaestus...great. He was a little far away, but he was standing right in front of the furnace, hammering away at something and mumbling.

Eurylochus couldn't make out what Hephaestus was saying, some of it was in a language he didn't understand, Spanish was it?

He started to think...how was he going to do this without getting noticed? It seemed damn there impossible. Couldn't I just ask?...bad idea. Eurylochus thought to himself. Just announcing himself out of nowhere would be a death wish.

Something in Eurylochus told him to hide behind the table with tools on top. And as soon as he did, Hephaestus moved from the forging table to put a new tool in cold water.

"Who are you?"

The sudden question made him jump and stand like a deer in headlights. Should he answer that? Wait...how the hell did he know he was there?!

Gods naturally knew when a new/unknown entity entered their domain. It was just a feeling.

"I asked," Hephaestus turned around and stared straight at the table Eurylochus was hiding behind" Who are you? And stop hiding, it's not doing you any favors!" He commanded

Eury sighed and slowly stood up. He showed no fear, but he held his hands up to show he meant no harm. Hephaestus raised a brow and tilted his head.

"You...you're the one my brother is fraternizing with after my ex-wife, huh?"

"I-"

"Give me a reason why I shouldn't strike you where you stand." Hephaestus held a long hammer in his hand. Perfect for bashing a fragile skull "You have twelve seconds. NOW"

"I- I, your wife- or...Ex wife, She told me to come here to get the fire from your furnace!" Eury frantically explained as he looked at the hammer and then Hephaestus.

"Why?"

"To show my devotion to Ares I think I don't know-!"

The old man chuckled, but there was no joy in it "Heh, devotion? And you expect me to believe that?"

"Please believe me when I say I wouldn't be here for any other reason..."

"How do I know this isn't just some trick Aphrodite is doing to mess with me? How do I know you, Ares, and her aren't just playing me for a joke?!"

"Because I am a mortal in this...I'm not going to put myself in a situation where I can easily get killed, sir" Eury's body was visibly shaking as he was trying to hold his composure.

Hephaestus knows Eurylochus is right, no mortal could possibly be that dumb. That means it's Aphrodite (and possible Ares) that's playing with his emotions. Hasn't she done that enough?! Did she want something to happen to the mortal?

Hephaestus looked at the furnace and then Eurylochus..."You just need the fire?"

"That's all...then I leave" Eury felt a shiver run down his spine...'please don't toss me in the fire' he thought.

He thought back to how much he cared for her, how much he thought she cared for him...and then she just threw it all away for his BROTHER!

"I have a question"

"O- Okay"

"Are you, Aphrodite, and Ares together? All three of you?"

"No sir, Ares told me they broke up so...as far as I know, it's just me and him"

Hephaestus' eyes widened...they broke up? Oh...this is wonderous! This...this is f*cking hilarious! She cheated on him with a man who left her right afterwards. The old god started to chuckle, then laugh...then rather maniacally.

Yep...I'm gonna die Eury thought as sweat fell down his brow. But something was confusing for him. What did Aphrodite and Ares do to him? Why is she his ex-wife now instead of his wife? Why did she tell him she was his wife if she's, his ex-wife? The hell is going on...

Hephaestus walked over to the young mortal, which almost caused him to pass out, and snatched the torch from him. He walked over to the furnace and put the tip of the torch inside. Watching it slowly gather some flame to it.

After it had enough fire, he gave it back to Eurylochus with a gleeful smile on his face. Hephaestus knew what she was doing now, not the full extent, but he knew she wanted this mortal gone. And he was NOT about her the satisfaction.

"Run along now, si?"

"Uh, t- thanks, sir, I'll be going now"

Hephae watched the mortal walk out of his forge with a smirk. The mortal would soon feel what he felt eventually. Ares had infidelity in his bones thanks to Zeus.

Aphrodite sat outside of the volcano, dreaming of the life she would have with Ares. Three, four, maybe five or eight children. Living happily ever aft-

"I got the fire"

Her thoughts were interrupted by a voice she did not expect to hear. Her head whipped around to see the figure she'd grown to hate severely...with a torch in its hand.

Aphrodite had to remind herself not to strangle him then and there. Pretty Aphrodite, pretty face.

"YAAAAAAAAY!" She cheered, "You got it! Heh...now for your next task!" She said as she smacked the torch away and gripped his hand painfully tight again. This next one HAD to kill him.

With a snap of her fingers, they both appeared in front of gates the guarded a beautiful garden.

"Here, go retrieve a Golden apple from the garden, and bring it back to me" she said as if it were that simple. In the back of Eury's mind, he knew it wasn't that simple. Something about this garden felt off. Too pretty and serene. Not to a mention a goddess took him here so nothing about this was trusting.

"Just a golden apple?"

"Yep!" Aphrodite giggled and let go of his hand. She wanted to toss him in there herself but decided to be polite about it.

Eurylochus narrowed his eyes at her and then at the gate. Slowly, he walked up to it, and it opened for him. Eury raised a brow and tilted his head but continued nonetheless.

"And remember, once you get it, bring it right back to me!"

She bid him her cheerful farewell as the gate closed. Truly sealing his fate for what's to come. He looked back at her for a moment but then looked back.

He could see a garden of apple trees some feet away, but it was still walking distance. In front of him now was just a garden of beautiful flowers.

Eurylochus didn't waste his time to sniff them, he had a task to do. He needed to remain vigilant anyway, who knows what could be here. After a minute or two of walking he finally reached the golden apple tree.

The apples shined under the light of the sun perfectly. They almost looked delectable, but Eury was NOT taking a chance at biting one of those things. Thanks to his 6'3 frame, he was easily able to pick a golden apple off the tree and-

"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH"

A loud blood curdling roar could be heard behind him. The sound made Eury jump and quickly look around. Barely ten feet away, was the dragon Ladon. Ladon was a large green scaled dragon with over ten heads attached to its body.

Every single head had its eyes locked onto Eurylochus. Eury had his eyes on the Ladon. Even though he was fighting the urge to sh*t his pants right now, he waited for the thing to strike or do something. Why did he feel Deja vu?

As he thought, it sped its way toward him, and he dodged quick enough to avoid a large jaw to the head. Without screaming, Eurylochus ran as quick as he could, away from the creature. Weaving through the trees was quite easy because the dragon was having a hard time getting through them.

The apple was tightly gripped in his hand has he tried just about anywhere. The golden tree garden was short as it was surrounded by many other large flora of the like.

As he was about to hide, bright yellow flames brushed past him. Oh yeah, a dragon...fire. Shockingly, none of the trees were nor apples were burned but his right arm was. Not too badly but it still hurt like hell. No armor, no sword, no way of protecting himself from getting eaten or turned into human BBQ. He needed to get out of there...STAT.

Aphrodite already figured Eurylochus as good as dead once she heard the screech. She left to find Ares to win him back. He's somewhere on an old battleground or temple ruin. She has all the time in the world to look for him.

Ares sat on the rooftop of an old temple watching the sunset. It was amazingly beautiful but...not as much as his Eury was. Couldn't even compare in the slightest.

The god of war had the goofiest and lovesick grin on his face as he thought about him. He's been thinking about him all day really.

His feet sat over the edge of the roof and swayed like he was a child thinking about cake. That smile, that laugh, everything about the tiny mortal made his heart pitter patter tenfold.

He was so caught up in his own thoughts that he didn't even hear his ex-gf calling his name three times already.

"ARES!"

The deity jumped out of his thoughts and turned around to see the one and only Aphrodite. The sight of her reminded him of the embarrassment he tried so hard to suppress.

"Oh, Aphrodite...w- when did you uh...get here?" He asked nervously and scratched the back of his neck.

"Only a moment ago," She softly said as she sat down next to him. Too close. Ares had to move a bit because she was so close.

"Ah, I see....what can I do for you?"

"Oh nothing," She got closer, "Just hanging out with an old friend is all" After saying that she tucked her arm under his and leaned her head on his shoulder. She couldn't help it; it was natural for her.

This action made Ares pull away from her rather quickly and stood up to back away a bit. "Aphrodite, please, when I said we're done I meant it"

Ares tried to be as nice as possible about it but there was no point, she was pissed now. But as always, she tried to hide it with a smile. Time to bring out the charm.

she stood up and made her way over to him with her hips swaying "Oh, come ON Ares, I know I was a bad girl, but you'd be crazy, not to take me back. I mean, you can't say you don't love me anymore"

Honey he really never did-

Ares quickly dodged her touch and moved around her. "Aphrodite, I said NO, I'm with someone else now anyway."

Oh yes, the mortal that's probably scorched by now.

"You mean that, what's his name...Eurylis fellow?-"

"Eurylochus! And yes, him." Ares narrowed his eyes at her, his eyebrows furrowing at well. "And I would like for you to respect that!"

Aphrodite's' eyes widened in complete shock but then they narrowed with the same fire he held. "Do you know who you're speaking to?! I AM APHRODITE! The most beautiful goddess in the world-"

"Beauty is subjective" Ares simply said while crossing his arms. Was she really doing this right now?

Aphrodite scoffed with a hand on her chest. Did he really just say that to her? HER?!

"Take. It. Back."

"............No"

Aphrodite reveled in the fact that the mortal Ares cared so deeply about was dead. Burned to a crisp or torn to shreds. Either way, she's happy at the thought.

"Alright then," Aphrodite chuckled sinisterly, "Be that way, you'll be back~"

"I doubt it" Ares was very petty and stubborn. Even if Eurylochus died today that last person he would go to was Aphrodite, just out of spite.

Aphrodite left and Ares sighed. Someone so pretty can be just as conniving and cutthroat. Ares thought about the way she smiled, laughed...something in his gut told him something was wrong.

His body glowed a bright red and his wings spread widely. In less than a second, he flew up into the air and towards Eury's house. He just wanted to make sure he's okay...he's okay...right?

Eurylochus is in fact, not okay; his lungs burn, his legs ache from running for so long, and some parts of skin on his arms and legs are burned...and he's tired. But he's alive...with that damned apple in his hand. Eury managed to hide behind a large rock near a Lilypad in the garden. How that thing didn't sniff him out by now was astonishing. But hey, he's not complaining.

Eury knows Aphrodite wanted him dead, the reasons were unclear. One idea in his head was that she wanted Ares to herself and attempted to kill him to get to him.

Well for one, Eurylochus is stubborn and it's gonna take a lot more than a dragon to kill him.

Just as he thought he had a break, a large claw sat itself on top of the rock. Eury slowly looked up and saw all 12 or so heads staring down at him...smiling.

Before one could snap closed on any part of his body, Eurylochus rolled out of the way. Once he was far enough, he got up and ran some more...

There wasn't much more of running Eury could take and it was starting to get dark out. He turned around to see the creature fast approaching.

Before he could turn around, he bumped into something very very hard. The impact itself hurt very badly and caused him to see stars. Eurylochus stumbled back and put his hand on his head.

"Eurylochus! There you are, I'm glad you're still alive" The voice said softly.

Once the world came back to Eury's eyes looked in the direction the voice came from. Standing tall before him was who he presumed to be was Hera.

She was dressed in a yellow gown with light blue highlights on the end of the sleeves and dress. On her head was a white veil that looked like peacock feathers.

"A- Are you, Hera?" He asked cautiously (and a little curiously)

"Why yes I am, it's finally nice to meet you in person!" She beamed behind her veil. She looked him up and down, oh boy this man looked awful "Oh you poor thing, Ladon did a number on you"

"Ladon?" Just as he spoke the large green creature stomped up to them both. Its presence made Eurylochus step back and Hera noticed.

"Oh, don't worry, he won't hurt you while I'm here...why ARE you here, anyway?" She asked as she grabbed Eury's wrist and pulled him closer. Soft yellow magic swirled around the burns on his body and healed them instantly.

"I- Aphrodite, she told me to get her a golden apple" He hesitated the magic swirled around him. "As a task for my devotion for...for Ares" It dawned on Eurylochus on how much this was an odd way to meet your boyfriend's mother. He's not sure if it's a good or bad thing.

"Devotion?" The yellow glowing woman tilted her head, "Aphrodite told you to do this?" Gears turned in her brain until it hit her. That pink attempted murderer.

"Yes, and told me to give it to her once I got it"

Hera thought for a moment, "I see, well, do you have it?"

Eurylochus looked at his hands and realized he must've dropped it during the chase. "Oh...uh-"

"No worries, dear" Hera patted his shoulder and easily made a golden apple appear in her hand. "Here you are, a nice golden apple"

She handed it to him, and he gratefully took it. He looked down at it contemplating a few things. All this for an apple she could just make appear in less than a millisecond.

"Say, did you know what was on the other side of the gates when you stepped into it?"

"No, no I did not. If I did, I would have come with better equipment. I knew something was off though"

"Yet you stepped into the garden anyway? You could have just refused *gasp* does that mean you knew that there would be trouble, but you went in anyway...because you care enough to go through all that just to show your devotion to my son?!" She asked with her fingers clasped together. Eury couldn't see her face but could hear the shock and slight joy in her tone.

"Well...yes, yes I did, why?" He asked curiously

Hera let out a squeal similar to the sound of a tea kettle. This mortal genuinely cared about her baby? So much to risk his life?...this mortal must be protected.

"How about I get Aphrodite for you? You just rest"

"Um, sure, wait...how did you know I was here? You said you were looking for me"

"Oh, I just felt something was up, so I looked into my mirror. To put it shortly I saw you running for your life."

"...Okay...?"

Aphrodite was sitting alone in her flower bed positively seething. How dare Ares deny her, over some mortal? He's gone completely made she thinks. Her room was tattered and just down right destroyed. She may or may not have destroyed everything within the vicinity in her tantrum.

No matter, that mortal was dead, he would stay that way. Nobody leaves her for someone so lowly, NO ONE! SHE leaves the relationship. Not the other way arou-Why is she in the garden again?

Standing in front of her were Hera and Eurylochus, who despite being put through turmoil, looked calm and as stoic as ever. Aphrodite's' eyes widened in utter shock.

"What- how...you...-"

"Luckily I arrived in time before he became Landon's dinner, don't you think, Aphrodite?" The older goddess asked with her arms crossed.

"I uh...why yes, certainly! Heh, I'm so glad!" Aphrodite straightened up her behavior and tried to act happy that Eurylochus was alive....she wanted to scream right now.

"Here's your apple" Eury curtly said as he threw the golden apple at her feet," What's the next task? I completed two, have one more, correct?"

Hera looked down at Eurylochus as if he had grown three heads. Did he just say he had one more task to go?!

If Aphrodite had tried to indirectly kill him twice, what would she do this time?! And Hera didn't need to know if Aphrodite intended to indirectly kill him with the first task, THIS one already showed that.

"Heh, right" Aphrodite's eye glowed as she went for his wrist again, "let's go, this one will be a lot quicker"

"NO!" Hera stepped in front of Eurylochus protectively. No one is going to take away Ares' sacred joy, especially if that joy is devoted to him to the point that he will risk his life to show it.

"Eh...No?"

"I am the only person who should be putting Eury through tasks of devotion. I'm the goddess of marriage for goodness' sake AND I'm Ares' mother! I will let you off with a warning Aphrodite, and mark my words, if you even lay a finger on this mortal or anything close to him, I will rain every bit of wrath I have upon with WITHOUT MERCY!"

The air was intense, and Hera glowed an ominous yellow as she stared down at Aphrodite. It was rare for people outside of her family to see her eyes...but Aphrodite saw them...and it frightened her.

Eurylochus' raised his eyebrows in shock...what on earth could have caused this reaction? Aphrodite was at a loss for words...she didn't quite know what to do with herself at the moment. Much less defy Hera's new law.

"Now, get out of my garden"

The pink hater didn't need to be told twice as she popped out of existence. She'll be back for Eury, some way or somehow, she's going to destroy his life.

The intensity in the air left and Hera was now back to her serene herself. She looked down at Eurylochus and smiled, though he couldn't see it through her veil.

"Now, how about we go find Ares? I have a feeling he's looking for you"

Meanwhile:

I’ve noticed in your posts you always mention Harry’s endgame is Ginny or no one, but you’ve never mention it the other way around? I’ve always thought those two loved each other equally and they were each other’s endgames in every universe. Do you believe Ginny doesn’t love Harry as much as he loves her? Or that his love isn’t enough for her? I don’t think anyone could love, support, or make Ginny Weasley as happy as Harry Potter could, and I don’t think any man or women could make her feel the way Harry could, and vice versa.

the following is my opinion, and my opinion only:

to your point, yes, i totally 100% believe that ginny loves harry as much as he loves her. to be explicit, in canon, it is harry or no one for ginny. they have just gone through hell and back for each other that, personally, i just do not see them even considering being with anybody else after the war. the series ended in a way that implied that harry's main priority was going to be centered around building something with ginny, and judging by the fact that ginny never said she was going to wait for him, there's no canon evidence to suggest that she didn't wait in her 6th year (though, obviously, there were more pressing matters at the time.)

to me, it was always inevitable that they would fall back together. they would, of course, have many problems to deal with (harry's communication issues, ginny's fresh grief, harry coming to terms with ginny's very dark circumstances, ginny's sense of self-preservation, amongst so many other things that i think @whinlatter's Beasts does a phenomenal job of tackling, and i can't wait to read more. (those dang eggcups goddamnit 😭.)

now why do i talk more about harry loving ginny than vice versa? frankly because fandom seems adamant on proving just the opposite. and i absolutely refuse to give an inch about it. at risk of pissing everyone off, i'm also more likely to read ginny/other, if not for any other reason than to spite the haters. plus, ginny's love life is so interesting; if you think about it, she really "dated" all tropes of men: the toxic guy (tom riddle, if you count intimacy as not just romantic), the "nice guy" (michael corner), and the guy who's just generally a great person but not the one for ginny (dean thomas). how could you not want to read about it? and it's so beautiful, thinking that after all of that, she finds her way back to harry.

honestly? truthfully? there just is more canonical evidence of harry caring about ginny. (again, this does NOT mean that i'm saying that harry loves ginny more than ginny loves harry.)

why? because unlike ginny, we can actually see inside harry's head. we know for a fact he thinks of her as his greatest source of comfort from book six. we know for a fact he thinks of her like family since book seven. we know for a fact that she is his last thought before he freakin' dies. we do NOT know for fact that ginny thinks these things because we cannot see inside her head. while ginny's feelings for harry are an interpretation (a heavily evidence-based one for sure, duh, i'd be stupid not to think that), harry's feelings for ginny are just...reality.

it's like arguing evolution vs gravity. one is a theory, and the other is legitimately a law.

Devil Judge really is just some overly dramatic love triangle

Yohan is looking for love but not really. Then GaOn comes into his life and it’s like really weird cause he looks just like his brother but being super smart and handsome Yohan figures out this is just the writer’s way of saying “you can’t explicitly love this man, he looks exactly like your dead brother 😱 ”

So now they throw in his crazy ex stalker. She makes really big demands and there’s blood and she gets jealous of the dead bro look a like. I wonder why that is...🧐 She spices things up and tries to squeeze her way between Yohan and GaOn trying to appease the former by bringing him dead treats like some ferocious feline.

Oh, GaOn also has an ex of sorts. Or a situationship. She’s been there to be the opposite of Seona. She’s beauty she’s grace she’ll put you in your place (JAIL) she acts as the angel on GaOn’s shoulder but he’s got a devil judge on his back 😈

So now, finally over the dead bro look, a bond is forged in the fiery pits of a church they become an unstoppable force. Though everyone tries to break them apart (not really just the jealous haters who want them for themselves)

They also have an adoptive daughter who is a powerhouse and seems to be the only woman who isn’t trying to tear them apart. Oh and dead bro is her daddy but there must be something in the blood cause she’s also hooked on dead bro look alike

Until the writers come back in after being briefly being held hostage. So now they must go their separate ways. But there already too much homosubtext residue and though they may be far away from each other they’re love will—

Nope they should’ve been together in the end 😡 . I did not watch them date and have hilarity and blood of corrupt politicians spilled for them to just disappear in a very large building with a small crowd to some dramatic music.

TD Heather character analysis

I’ll start off by saying that little me was a hater. I did not like Heather at all I thought she was an awful person and one of the reasons why was because Gwen was my only favorite.

However now that I’m older and have had time to grow I see her a bit more clearly now and find her very relatable now and have realized that 8 yr old me was projecting very hard. The perfect way to explain that with a few worlds is the saying:

“Hurt people hurt other people”

At the time I found the show I was living at a hospital while a family member was dying and I was mean to many people for no reason because of my grief. I’ll admit I acted a lot like Heather.

Being in a household with a lot of siblings that don’t look out for each other but instead stick to the rule “every man for themselves” she has to fight and survive to get attention, approval and basic needs form her parents. From what we’ve heard from Heather about her siblings they don’t exactly seem to be a walk in the park either. When she describes her brother Damien he seems to be pretty misbehaved as well, so leads to the conclusion that it’s not just her who acts like this. It’s because of living in a dysfunctional home where all she can do to feel safety and not judged is to be in constant survival mode along with having to defend herself from her own damn family is why she’s so used to being the mean, spoiled brat we see her as throughout the show. She’s not allowed to show vulnerability in a place that she’s supposed to call home, with people who are supposed to love her unconditionally regardless of her failures, emotions & flaws. We can’t expect her to be a nice person and to be vulnerable enough to create relationships outside of the house if she’s not allowed to do it at home. We can’t expect it because not only is she not shown it but she’s not welcomed to experiment and show it herself to others in a place and with people who are suppose to be her stronghold and foundation. Children learn from example, if you don’t show them them love or care they aren’t gonna do it in return or to anyone else for that matter.

So of course when she’s placed on an island with complete strangers, she switches her survival mode on to the max. Blocking them out before any of them can get to her and damage her even more than she is.

All Heather was ever really taught in her life was “Do whatever it takes to achieve your goal. No matter the cost.” Let the cost be losing friends, public humiliation, being hated by all the people she knows, sacrificing her feelings for the guy she loves all so she can reach her goal aka the million dollars. But then she’s left with the thought of what happens next. What happens after she gets what she wants? She gets her goal and yet she still is ignored by the people that she wants approval from (her parents) .

When she was sobbing on that volcano, what did she say? She said,

“I worked so hard”.

That is a phrase, a plead, a person gives when they are so tired of making efforts that they now realize will never be acknowledged. Efforts that never mattered in the first place. That there was her plead for rest! She was so done, until she was shown that someone actually admitted and expressed and showed her what vulnerability was. They expressed their feelings of love and admiration for her that she actually stopped and thought for a moment. None the less her unhealthy habit of putting her goals first before anything kinda ruined it😑.

Even so she’s explained how she does feel guilty has resentment about her behavior. We see with Harold in season one she says “it’s become a habit for hers” and she hides how she actually feels about being disliked by others. She doesn’t want to be mean it’s just all she’s ever known. She was never taught to be in touch with her feelings or to be respectful emotionally vulnerable with herself. That’s why I found it so beautiful in All Stars when we saw her being genuinely happy with Alejandro. She seems relaxed and unbothered (til Chris ruined it😒). And I hope that’s how the rest of her relationship will be, because happy Heather is everything ♥️.

Grace, his saving grace.

When people say Grace made Tommy weak, I resent that. She made him stronger not weaker. But, I understand where they are getting it from and let me elaborate on it. Perfect example was the night Grace got shot. Just for a minute here, lets pretend the sapphire was cursed and if only Tommy got it out from her, maybe just maybe she wont get shot. Grace kissed Tommy after he said those iconic words "I need you, Grace, I need you".

The theory was if only Tommy was focused enough, he should have taken the necklace right away and not make her a target but nope, he didn't. What did he do? He held Grace tightly and towards him and kisses her few more times. Grace meant to kiss him just once. In that moment, Tommy was off guard, he was all in focused on Grace forgetting or not knowing really, there is a price tag on him and his family. Now, the bullet was made for him, but the theory was its also meant for the closest to him- his wife who is wearing a sapphire. She became a target as well, all the time. This, among other instances are part of the reasons why they say Grace made Tommy weak that for a man like him, he shouldn't be that way. Wrong. That is not true and that is not the case.

My 2 cents is Tommy has always been vulnerable, every calm demeanor was just a facade to hide his real self. His real self includes the ptsd, the anger and trust issues, the mobster, criminal but also the pre war Tommy, romantic, calm and good. Grace exposed it, the bad and good. It has always been there. The "perceived weakness" was always been there that's why he made bad choices. Nobody corrects him, he was surrounded by "yes people " and a family that is very unstable, too. Then came along, the one person who makes him think twice. Who made him guess, who got him confused, intrigued, who he cannot read her mind. She made him contemplate first on his actions that for once, someone can say No, someone can leave someone can reject him or disobey him. Grace did all that and for that, Grace made him stronger not weaker. She made him human, again. Being a monster is not a strength, its a curse, a burden. Tommy realized that's why he chose Grace despite all odds. What they had was not just any ordinary love or even love per'se, but unyielding, breathtaking love and loyalty towards each other, with the utmost respect and sincerity of two wounded souls colliding in different uniforms but basically one being. They were opposites but exactly the same. For me, its the most beautiful, freaking fictional love story written on a small screen perfectly portrayed by incomparable on on screen couple.

If tommy became weak, its not because of Grace its because despite being Tommy, he is a human being. Its entirely because of himself, circumstances and choices. Remember they were together for almost 3 years, they were just alright. Vulnerability shouldn't be perceived a weakness, it should be of strength. Grace made him stronger for she made him a better man. She took the goodness left in his heart and exposed it to the best of both of their abilities. She chose the goodness in him through and through. Just like Padme's last words about Anakin aka Darth Vader "There's still goodness in him, I know". She changed him. She made him a better person and he clearly wanted to on his accord for HER. That's how powerful Grace was and always will be. Haters are afraid of that, that's why they hate her and Tommy being flawed, imperfect and vulnerable is not ok with them, they excuse his bad doings and blame on Grace. Fact is Tommy with Grace has found a life, a real life. It may have been short that they were in paradise, high and low but boy it was real not some made up shit others points out with other love interests. Death will always follow tommy and those he love. If karma took Tommy's one great love in Grace, it is not because of Grace but because of himself. It sucks really for Grace for she deserves better but she made her choice, too. Weak or not, its his choices not hers that took the life of her. To end this, Tommy and Grace's love was the strongest of them all. People have to thank Grace for making him happy and for making their perfect in ther eyes no fault hero a monster, too. For better or worse, Tommy carried on living and I believe, Grace kept him alive until they would reunite in the afterlife. Grace is his savior after all.

i don't think i've ever posted sims content but i've been on a sims 3 kick lately and specifically have started a 100 baby challenge - usually I do legacy gameplay so this is a little different for me! i only just started taking more consistent screenshots though, so they're a bit disjointed and one of the sons actually isn't in any of these! rip valor. decided to do a fairy as my matriarch and my goal is to have as many of the 100 babies be born to her as possible, maybe all if i decide to make her young again! here's some stuff of the family though because i've been getting reaaally into them all! info on Pearletta and her first seven children below the cut! <3

My matriarch, as previously mentioned, is a fairy named Pearletta Delphine, living in Starlight Shores. She's a bit of a klepto, neurotic, very neat and tidy, and is quite dramatic!

Her firstborn son, Derek, is now long out of the house with his wife and his own son, Gavin; and Kieran, his wife, and twin daughters were not far behind!

Derek is a genius, and very technically skilled, and will likely be getting his start in science fields, despite his many fears. Kieran is a hater of all things supernatural, the poor boy, considering he was the firstborn "hybrid" of the family, being born a fairy with the "werewolf trait". He's also a musician, and spent most of his adolescence learning guitar.

Her third son, Jack, is an athletic and friendly sim, and neat just like his mother! Now the oldest of the house, he's a fresh young adult, and preparing to get engaged to his girlfriend. These first three boys were all the perfect spitting image of their mother, and of each other!

Her fourth son, Valor, is also visually quite similar to his brothers, too, but you wouldn't know cuz i didn't take any screenshots of him lmao! But he's just growing into being a teenager, and who knows how that could change! His name ended up being quite funny, I'm not sure why it was what I chose, it was just randomly what I thought of, but he rolled the brave trait immediately! He's a bit lazy, and much messier than the rest of his family, and will likely be leaning towards military pursuits.

But now, after her deluge of sons, her deluge of daughters begins! First with beautiful Geneveive, who's in a lot of my photos! Like Valor, she's a couch potato, but she also loves the outdoors, and can sleep through almost anything. She's not sure where she's going in life yet, but she's a curious girl and loves artsy endeavors.

The babies are still quite young and haven't shared much of their personality with the family yet, but Adelaide and Bonette are both very excitable! Bonette is not one outdoor playtime, and Adelaide can be a bit forgetful, but they're precious additions to the family!! :3

1. little women (2019)

watched it with three of my best friends when it first was in theaters so that definitely added to the message and experience watching it. i love how greta gerwig directed the sister dynamic. she’s gone on record on interviews and also if you can find the screenplay itself that in the script the actors’ lines were written on top of one another to reflect the spontaneity and chaos of sisterhood and family through the film’s dialogue. so genius?!?! this adaptation just felt so real and genuine and i also see a little of myself in all the sisters 🫶

2. challengers

UGH i did like a whole deep dive here but in short: luca guadagnino you absolute mastermind. i love tennis, i love colorgraded film and photography, i love hot people!!!! story was insane, i quite literally had to sit in my car for like half an hour just processing when i got out the movie house before i felt normal enough to drive home lol.

3. emma (2020)

again i did a thorough tedtalk on this one. but i’m a big jane austen fan!!! and the aesthetics and score on this adaptation were just off the charts and so so lovely. love the regency era and i think they translated it to screen in a very appealing and classic (although maybe not entirely historical but hey it’s art) way. i’ll always come back to it as my comfort movie ngl.

4. call me by your name

amazing story. (not a love story mind you!!!) which is actually why it stuck with me sm bc i went in with my hopeless romantic self just to be fuckin crushed. watched it two summers ago and it took me like weeks to recover, it broke my heart in a way that felt so good. also just a downright beautiful film all around (colorgrade, cinematography, acting, music, everything!!). in guadagnino we trust!!!

ok don’t call me a freak, it was pretty interesting— from the aesthetics, to the minimal dialogue, to the overall story. it’s a doozy but imo that shit was art. (or guillermo del toro was the real freak all along)

my fav ghibli film bc it’s just so haunting in a way none of the other ghibli films are and i like that. like the way some of those characters were drawn was lowk gross—but i find that kinda gnarly. so over the top fantastical it makes my brain tingle in a certain way.

isle of dogs

my fav wes anderson film in both stop motion or live action (my fav live action of his was the most recent asteroid city tho!). truly art and has such a heartwarming story but at the same time the DRAMA. my lord. crazy how captivating the story was even if half of it was in largely unsubtitled japanese—unique choice but i actually liked what it added to the movie a lot especially considering the movie’s pov from an english-speaking dog. i’m actually a big cat person but i finished that movie so convinced that fuck yeah that dog is man’s bsf right there

the amazing spiderman movies

andrew garfield’s spiderman is my fav <3 but also i love the darker feel to this version of spiderman. maybe it’s bc i’m also a big batman/dc fan (sorry my marvel babes </3) and generally those movies have been handled with a more dark tone. but nonetheless andrew garfield is hot too so that’s a plus!

cruella

i’m lowk a disney hater but this movie was SO. CUNTY. fuck i loved it. the actors were amazing and the visuals and the FASHION were just mwah, especially compared to other disney live action films (😭).

random thoughts about tell me that you love me, episode nine

(the rest is under the cut because i'm worried about your eyes having to read ALL OF THAT and this post might contain spoilers)

To be honest, the more I watch the show, the more Mo dam is getting on my nerves. I don't like that it seems like he doesn't want to pick sides so he just agrees with anyone depending on how much the situation will benefit him. I understand wanting to appear as good as you can to your parents. What I don't understand is doing so by dragging your sibling. He acts like he's some hero and came to seoul to check up on his sister when in reality, it's just because he also wants to get away from his parents. I'm sorry this was my hater moment but I had to let it out.

I don't know how to feel about the parents' reaction to meeting jin woo. I can understand they're worried about their daughter being with someone who's "different" but at the same time, I don't understand how they're so quick to judge him and eyeing him like that. When they arrived at mo eun's house, they could see how big she was smiling. Isn't that a good thing? Yes, meet him another time so you could get to know each other better but I'm iffy about them, especially the father.

"I somehow became a bad daughter to you (parents)" Oh how I am livid right now. No matter how old your child is, they should never feel like they disappointed you (unless they committed a crime). NEVER!!! How can you look at yourselves in the mirror when your own child said that? The parents should look back at what they've done and realize their mistakes.

I'm glad mo eun finally has the time to sit and talk to her parents one on one and letting all her feelings out. She should have done that a long time ago but I understand it's not easy to have a discussion with your parents, especially knowing how they want a certain career path for you.

I'm relieved the parents assured her they weren't against any of her decisions and are only worried. Good! I hope they meet jin woo and talk with him so they can appease the tension.

The bond between jin woo and tae ho is a beautiful thing to see. They're learning about each other and they're seeing things from another perspective. They're also relating to each other. This wholesome and I really hope the bullying will stop.

I'm in awe. Tae ho is an amazing kid. He was mad at jin woo for not helping him when he needed it the most. Yet, he still took time to learn about jin woo and understood the misunderstanding. He came to apologize and still wants to take the sign language art class because, like he said, jin woo went to school without anyone speaking sign language. He made it through, so why not tae ho too? I'm giddy. I think good things will come out of this "mentorship" (idk how to call it).

Mo eun does have a big heart. She sent the magazine with jin woo's interview along with tae ho's wallet just so there won't be any misunderstanding. That's the power of kindness right there.

The news of the possiblity for sol to be hearing impaired has made jin woo and mo eun's world stop. I think this brought them back to reality where if they were to have a child, the child might grow up like jin woo. It's understandable to be scared of that. They're already living it with jin woo. They know how hard it is so they don't want that for a child, if they want one that is. The only thing I can hope for sol to be okay.

Seeing jin woo opening up more and more to mo eun is freeing in a sense because you can see the walls he's built at the beginning are crumbling down the more they see each other.

Him confessing he was scared of being in a relationship with her goes back to what I said in previous posts. He doesn't want to be a burden. He's scared he won't be able to help her if she was in danger because of his disability.

I am just an emotional mess at this point. Mo eun always takes the time to reassure him she wants to be with him. She doesn't care about his disability, she doesn't want him to protect her. She only wants to be with him because she loves him. And I think that's beautiful.

The preview for episode ten is promising. I can't wait!

Overall this was an okay episode, I'll give it a 8.5/10
