The Manifestation of Trama

I dropped out of high school. I dropped out of high school at the age of 16.

Not because I wasn’t smart enough.

Not because I was pregnant.

Not because I had low ambitions.

Not because I had to help support my family.

Not because I had become to friendly with drugs.

I dropped out of high school because I could not walk in to a classroom with out feeling his icy cold hand under my shirt. I could not walk in to a bathroom with out feeling like someone was following me.

I walk into school and feared for my life because I knew he was escalating.

I walked home knowing he was following me. All 2 miles. Not far enough behind me to forget he was there.

I dropped out of high school because no 14 year old girl should be trying to plan her life is this drugstore test comes back positive.

I dropped out of high school because my molester became my stalker who became my rapist.

I dropped out of high school because it was my fault “ I was asking for it because of my outfit” - But I was wearing my school assigned gym class uniform.

“ I was asking for it because I lead him to believe that I wanted him” - But I told him when he knocked on the front door of my home for the third time this week with a knife in my hand “ if you so much as look at me again I will slit your throat and cut of your eyeballs”

“ I was asking for it because I put myself in an unfortunate situation” - But I was only going to the bathroom in gym class.

“ I was asking for it because I didn’t call out for help” - But I shut down. He was invading my body and I couldn’t process it.

Those are real statements told to me by my female guidance counsellor when I tried to report him.

I dropped out of high school because I was broken and trying to pretend it never happened. It was like I had broken both of my legs and the very next day I tried to run a marathon.

I dropped out of high school because I couldn’t go to school without reliving it all.

The Molesting in history class.

The months of following me home from school.

The Rape in gym class.

I dropped out of high because I left the country but my trama followed through the years and changes of location.

I dropped out of high school so rebreak my legsbut instead of runnin that marathon I went home to let my injuries heal the right way.

I dropped out of high school to heal properly.

I dropped out of high school at the age of 16. I dropped out of high school.

That is how my trama manifested.

Privileged

I am a privileged person. I grew up in a nice neighborhood With nice people that had nice kids went to good schools. No one i knew ever questioned where their next meal was going to come from, Or went to school with holes in their clothes. Everyone had the newest phones, Or shoes, Or car. Everyone had nice houses that were monstrously oversized, and their parents worked from 9 to 5. They took extravagant vacations to Europe and the Caribbean. I grew up in a privileged neighborhood. I am a privileged person. You are a privileged person. We have never earned anything. We have never needed anything, And even if we did want something it was handed to us We grew up to be privileged people. You got what you wanted and took what didn’t belong to you You thought the world was indebted to you. The world doesn’t owe you anything. We are privileged people. We will always be privileged. Nothing can ever change that.
