Whelp. The Ithaca Saga for Epic the Musical came out. Last saga of the musical. Jorge had decimated me musically. The animatics and animation he commissioned have devastated me artistically. I don't know what to do now that it's done, now I'm just waiting for Mr. Jalapeño himself to give something new for us-

I need you to know that I saw “Epic” and a Spotify preview and ALSO let out a very shaky sigh, because I knew. I KNEW what was coming was going to blow me away, and it ABSOLUTELY DID. 😭

“Would You Fall In Love With Me Again” OUGH right from the get-go, the immediate relatability. I can absolutely see it with Isabel and Scrooge, especially since … by his own admission, he’s still a little hung up in her. Keeping the watch and all. Not to mention the amazing slip of, “we are … were merely engaged.” Yikes.

In his youth, he mourns the loss, willing her to give him a second chance that never comes.

Perhaps he dreams about it sometimes. Bumping into her. Or her appearing before him, wanting to try again.

And Scrooge/Marley in the afterlife too, OH MY GOSH. Imagine having such a second chance after thinking it would never be possible. After expecting it was over, and giving all to save the man you love from eternal cold and dark, only for there to be a chance to come together again? Unbelievably poetic. 💕

And Scrooge/Connie. Oh boy.

I have such soft feelings.

They’re people who thought they’d never love again. Hell, they don’t think they should ever love again. Because it hurt too much last time. Because what if they can’t be the partner their love deserves? What if they fail again?

To Begin Again, for them, is also to Love Again.
