Warm and Kind
"I don't know why it is that I find it so very difficult just being here, on this Earth, but I can say with absolute certainty that you have made it much, much better. You make the world beautiful. And warm and kind."
Benedict Cumberbatch as Louis Wain
IT IS HERE. Boy, am I glad to share this video with you today, peeps! I wanted to edit a tribute to Ted and Rebecca ever since it ended over a year ago. And one day, it clicked. That day, I was watching The Electrical Life of Louis Wain.
This movie emotionally wrecked me. It is incredibly sad. It’s also one of the most beautiful pieces of cinema I have ever seen. It had a very peculiar mixture of joy and sorrow. The tone of this video is therefore defined by these two qualities.
I suppose it explores the impact Ted and Rebecca had on each other’s lives. Starting with recognising a kindred spirit in the shared grief and pain caused by their divorce. Rebecca also had a sixth sense regarding Ted’s shaky mental health and the edit shows how much she helped him get through it in small but meaningful ways. The monologue I used by the ever so talented Benedict Cumberbatch perfectly illustrates that.
Louis’ speech to his wife could be Ted addressing Rebecca, but in truth it works just as well the other way around. Hence why I made sure that it was relevant both ways. Anyone having paid particular attention to these two will know how much these words ring true.
The music is also taken from the movie. Isn’t it just enchanting? It strikes a chord in me. It makes me tear up in a way that is undeniable, if hard to explain.
I really hope you will like this edit. I was very moved making it and I hope to move you, too.
Special shoutout to my good tumblr friend @movrings! Oh, the meltdowns we shared hehe. This is my little thank you after having had my own shoutout from her on my birthday last year. Lots of love!

These people call themselves "fans"!?!
Let's put this into perspective. There's an actors and writers strike going on. NO actors are doing promotion of projects. The click bait sites are dredging up old stories to fill their empty "pages".
Fandom Wire is well known for being a clickbait, blow-everything-out-of-proportion, site that often takes a tiny detail and makes it into a screaming headline, that they then walk back in the last few paragraphs of the story.
BC was asked in a MARCH 11, 2021 "Collider" story about the possibility of him playing "Thrawn" and he gave it a hard pass...
So let's scurry ahead OVER 2 YEARS LATER and this old story is resurrected by the click hungry Fandom Wire. This is VERY old news!
But the Haters (who at the time were apoplectic at the mention of him prioritizing his family) are STILL SEETHING!
So Gator's climbed into her delusional soapbox and is now predicting MORE DOOM AND GLOOM for BC if he doesn't dump his wife and disown their children!
But after this story was written in 2021, BC went on to MANY critically successful and highly marketable endeavours, including award winning/nominated TPOTD, episodes of What If...?, 2 Marvel movies (including DS2!), critically acclaimed The Electric Life of Louis Wain and being tapped by Wes Anderson for his Roald Dahl project! Not to mention the Netflix backed miniseries "Eric" staring BC!
If BC was as "toxic" as Gator says, would PRADA contracted him for their latest campaign?
Would he be recruited to play a pivotal role in the new Bob Dylan biopic?
The TOXICITY is entirely in the feculent minds of the Haters! They WANT him to be toxic! They YEARN of him to be unloved!
Because to Haters it's not about BC's talent or personality - it is ALL ABOUT THEIR HATEFUL NARRATIVE!
Only the Haters are toxic.

I was tagged by @woofety (Thanks Chiara!!! It's been ages since I did a tag game ❤)
Tag someone you want to know AND/OR some of your besties.
Favourite colour: Any and all shades of purple! Chiara fyi, the wall of your room looks exactly like mine haha! 🤣 I'm insufferable when it comes to this colour, for real.
Last song: I don't care - Survive Said The Prophet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Msw1dLzG7Mk
Last movie: The Electrical Life of Louis Wain. It was on the tv while I was doing my chores, so I just kept it playing in the background (I wasn't really paying attention at first, but I did eventually sat down to watch it towards the end lol). It was nice I guess? Cute and quirky but a bit sad too.
Currently watching: If you count anime, then I'm watching Jujutsu Kaisen and waiting for the next Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War arc 🥰
Other stuff I watched this year: I'm going to be boring here and say that I haven't watched a lot of stuff this year, but there's a few that I really love! Bodies, the Netflix series was really good! I'm not usually one for binging a whole show in one day, but with Bodies I can't help but want to know what happens next! I also watched the One Piece live action and loved it! I've never watched the anime before (I think I was just too intimidated by the number of episodes shdsjfdh), but now I'm slowly making my way through the anime as well hehe
Shows I dropped this year/didn’t finish: Can't think of any sorry! Like I said, I don't watch a lot of shows or movies these days 😅
Currently reading: I'm just starting to read the Witcher books! Currently about halfway through The Last Wish, and listening to the audiobook while reading. The narration by Peter Kenny is really good, and I've come to love his Geralt voice!
Currently listening to: Well it changes everyday, but I always go back to Survive Said The Prophet or Ad Infinitum after a while 🥲
Currently working on: I'm not actually working on anything atm, but I've been thinking of painting again! I got this colouring book for my birthday last year that I think can handle watercolours (the paper is quite thick so it should be ok?). I've only done one page so far!
(this was done using watercolour pencils instead of actual watercolours, but it held up alright!)
Current obsession: I think it's obvious from my blog that it's Baldur's Gate 3 🥲❤
I'm tagging @acromandus (no pressure to do this Kat!)

Hello my loves! 'Tis I, Mathilde. I am very very excited about this next project of mine currently cooking. A tribute, in all its beauty and sorrow, to the relationship between Ted and Rebecca from the show Ted Lasso. I named it Warm and Kind. Subject to change but for now I like it. I am using a monologue from the movie "The Electrical Life of Louis Wain" as a backdrop to describe what I see as a singularly profound connection. This one makes me emotional, guys. In the realm of tear-jerker videos this one is a doozy, as Ted would probably put it. A stark contrast to the last edit I made, which was all good vibes and sunshine. But I could not be prouder and happier with the result so far. I cannot wait to share it with you all.
You can find my first tedbecca video here

Happy Birthday the lovely Scottish actress Sharon Rooney who was born 22nd October 1988 in Glasgow.
Sharon Rooney is one of the most in demand actresses from Scotland, she attended Knightswood Primary and secondary Schools and was brought up in the Temple area of Glasgow, she left school at 16 to pursue a career in acting, but it all started for her 13 years before, as a determined young lady, aged just 3 she set her sights on becoming an actress after a visit to see the pantomime Cinderella in her hometown of Glasgow. She was even being noticed back then, when an elderly lady in the audience commented “Look at her, she’s in her element” Sharon danced away to the songs in the aisle of the theatre! From then on she want to be Ella Mint thinking, I am, you’re right I’m Ella Mint!”
It must have been a daunting and exciting time when Sharon enrolled on a 3-year performing arts course followed by a degree in drama at Hull University. But I am sure a lass from Glesga took it in her stride. She graduated with a BA Hons in Acting, her early appearances were with Harry Hill and in the Tony Roper play The Steamie.
Rooney began performing stand-up comedy, and toured with a play in various schools across Britain. She also starred in the play Direct Devitt: Mammy, a comedy drama production with an all female Scottish cast which ran at the Edinburgh Festival in 2011.
Sharon started picking up roles on TV in film, her first was the TV movie, Two Doors Down in 2013 as Sophie, she reprised the part in 2016 when it returned as a sitcom. Miss Rooney then got her breakthrough part, the lead role as Rachel “ Rae” Earl in the E4 teen comedy-drama My Mad Fat Diary, it ran for 3 seasons. The series received critical acclaim, particularly for its accurate and honest portrayal of mental illness and Sharon Rooney’s performance. The Guardian’s Sam Wollaston heaped praise on oor Sharon saying “Sharon Rooney’s performance in the lead is natural, effortless and utterly believable; she should win something for it”
And win she did! Picking up a gong at The British Academy Scotland Awards, in 2015, it was third time lucky, having previously been nominated the two years before. Other nominations included Royal Television Society for best actress and the Broadcasting Press Guild for Breakthrough act. Sharon nails the accent in the show so perfect that people found it hard to believe she was from Scotland, people on twitter used to tell her that her Glasgow accent was rubbish!
Sharon was ready to give up her dream of being an actress and take up nursing before My Mad Fat Diary, Appearances in Sherlock and another TV movie, Kerry were crammed in-between My Mad Fat Diary as well as a part in the excellent Peter Mullen film Hector along with Ewan Stewart, Gina McKee and Keith Allen.
I love Sharon’s attitude, of her weight she says;
“Even if I wasn’t fat, and I was smaller, people would then say they don’t like my hair. You will never please everybody. You need to please yourself and as long as you are happy, it doesn’t matter. You will never be perfect or what everyone wants you to be. Someone will always find a fault.”
Being a Glaswegian lassie I doubt if she will get much hassle from anyone!
Back to her career and I must shamelessly admit I have not seen her in the film The Electrical Life of Louis Wain as yet, but as I said at the beginning of the post, she is a busy woman, her TV roles continue to pour in, quality shows like Deep Heat, The Teacher and The Control Room have called on her for roles and she is super excited about a film that she has recently just finished shooting with Hollywood stars Ryan Gosling, Margot Robbie and Will Farrell, Barbie will be out next year. Sharon said in a recent interview with Go Radio presenters Grado and Crofty
"I've just finished Barbie! I've spent so long keeping it a secret that I feel like I'm not allowed to say that but I am allowed to say that!”
Miss Rooney has just appeared in the biggest Hollywood film of the year, Barbie. Sharon said it was is her most empowering role yet.Sharon plays 'Lawyer Barbie' in the rose-hued Barbie blockbuster. Next up for thehigh flying lass is a TV series called Nightsleeper, which co-stars a strong Scottish cast including James Cosmo, Sharon Small, Alex Ferns and Katey Leung. Described as a real-time drama, the series is set on a sleeper train travelling to London from Glasgow in Scotland. Two people who have not previously met before must work together to try to save the lives of the passenger.

They made a movie about him just a couple of years ago
Still watching this youtube channel about what I can only describe as "Dark Classical art" and this one absolutely floored me because I was unaware of it and I want to share it because it changes my perspective on this artist completely.
You might be aware of Louis Wain. If not by name then by his art. He's the artist behind that series of cat drawings that slowly became more and more abstract and bizarre.
This series of paintings of cats are often labelled as a visual representation of Wain's deteriorating mental illness and schizophrenia. Even more so often labelled as "a tragic display of a painter's failing battle with schizophrenia."
The paintings look like this and were painted around the very early 1900s.
Ok got all that?
So here's the thing.
Although Wain did suffer from a mental illness that was strong enough for him to be institutionalized, his mental illness was never diagnosed with clear certainty. Although "Schizophrenia" is so heavily applied to him based purely on how his series of paintings LOOK, despite actual specialists widely disputing this. On top of this, although he did paint the kaleidoscope cat portraits during this time, it was not the only things he painted, and he was quite capable of painting "normal" pictures of cats.
The Kaleidoscope Cat portraits are more images of him experimenting with colour and shapes, something the Smithsonian themselves state on their website.
Wain had actually made his entire living painting whimsical images of cats, often for product adverts, before he was incarcerated and was actually a very beloved artist at the time. When his friends learned of his incarceration, they started a collection of donation money to help transfer Wain to the Bethlam Royal Hospital instead, one of the best mental health facilities of the time. Even the Prime Minster of the time donated, and they raised a large amount of money across England to help him.
4 years later, Wain drew this as his final image which he released publicly
I knew all about "the Schizophrenic cat Guy" but he had always been presented to me as some tragic case of an artist going mad and his skills and work unraveling as he went insane.
Which is why I wanted to share this information which was new to me. And because I think it's important.
