I think the thing that drives me crazy about bioessentialists is that they've clearly never taken a biology class past 8th grade and assume that class told them everything they needed to know about genetics. Like not taking biology classes past the age of 15 is fine, but to then go and say shit like 'there's only xx and xy that's just biology!' even when actual biologists are telling them to their face that those aren't the only options? Fucking ridiculous. Because ok, you didn't learn that xxy or xyy or xxxxy or any of the other variations exist, but like. Maybe 8th grade biology teachers think that understanding the concept of what an x and a y chromosome is good enough and didn't want to overwhelm you with more complicated concepts.
