I made a post abt this a while ago but I couldn’t find it (thx tumblr)

it was about Tommy’s possessive side purring when he sees bruises in the shape of his thumbs on Buck’s hips because he loooves gripping him there and sometimes he gets carried away (to Buck’s delight). Buck adores feeling claimed in that way, the evidence of Tommy’s love and worship on his body. One day, he gets Tommy’s thumbprints while he’s knocked out after a 48, and takes them to a tattoo shop to get them tattooed right where Tommy’s thumbs slot on his hips. He manages to keep them from Tommy for a couple days since Tommy has to lead some lafd course.

Tommy pounces on him the minute he gets home and when he sees his thumbs permanently etched onto Buck’s hips, where they belong? Well, he fucks Buck within an inch of his life, slotting his thumbs right over their tattoo counterparts as he fucks him face to face, and keeps them there when Buck rides him as soon as they can catch the breath. Buck tells him if they gave out Oscars for sex, they’d definitely win one, after all that.

Outside of sex. Tommy LOVES rubbing his thumb over that tattoos under Buck’s shirt, especially when someone flirts with Buck. Not that he needs the reminder, but it makes Buck shiver every time because he’s Tommy’s.

Been reading through your recent posts bc I love reading them. And I just had a thought:

Eiffel spending lots of time on eBay post canon trying to get vintage Star Wars action figures/comics/etc.

Minkowski sighing and telling him he should try and save money for once.

I don’t have more to this thought process but I’m just imagining Hera and Minkowski hearing Eiffel swear loudly as he loses another bidding war.

yesss, i love that!! i was just talking to a friend yesterday about how eiffel is the kind of guy who wants a Man Cave, and the only thing keeping him from that is money. in my mind, post-canon eiffel and hera are minkowski's slacker roommates, so it's extra funny to me to imagine she's trying to check on him like, hey, how's the job search going? and instead he's hunched over, laser-focused on outbidding someone who's become his one-sided nemesis over the past however many hours. and he would have terrible, awful luck. he would end up bidding on some junk he didn't even want, and losing nearly every auction for anything that was actually a good deal. he hypes himself up and swears he's going to get this one, he's going to buckle down and focus, this is like a showdown at high noon in his mind. and then he gets distracted by something or his internet is slow and someone snipes him moments before it closes, every time.

(after a few of those, i think hera would snipe him on an auction on purpose just to gift it to him later. that's the kind of thing she'd do.)

7, 18, and 54 for the fic writer asks?

7. How do you choose which POV to write from? Interestingly, this isn't really something I ever actively think about before I write (especially before I write fic). Usually when I have an idea for a piece it will just necessitate being from a certain point of view because a character has to be somewhere to have an experience, or it's inherently about them doing a certain thing? Or if a character's story is about a thing I'll just be drawn to writing about them/that element of them when I want to write about that thing, rather than having an idea and then deciding on a pov character later. Like, I was really mad about something a while ago and thought, you know who else gets angry? Charles Rowland. And then I wrote crushed alyssum to get out my feelings (sorry, Charles <3). (Unless this question means like 1st, 2nd, 3rd person pov in which case it's always 3rd limited for fanfic and (so far) for novels, and sometimes 1st for short stories)

18. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles? A combination of all of them! Sometimes a title comes to me really naturally from the piece's content. like molliculi (soft little things) couldn't possibly be titled anything else. the whole story is about Edwin's struggle with that very word. he's too SOFT (and also that word means like, soft, gentle, tender, or effeminate things and it's the masculine plural, so it's just like an inbuilt Charles and Edwin word). and it's also about the way his early education is warped by his trauma and his afterlife, so having a latin title made sense. and then I, a certified 2012 tumblr user, couldn't possibly give up an opportunity to do the (rest of the title in brackets) thing!!! Or sometimes the title is a bit separate, like I came up with The Case of David Bowie's Made up Sexuality after writing a single scene in that fic and thought it was really funny. (AND David Bowie, basically the first person to publicly use the word bisexual, had in Charles' lifetime REVOKED it and said he was a "closet heterosexual" and then Charles died before he kind of "came out" again much later?? it was just poignant and silly and stuff). Obviously, sometimes I get to the point of posting and then just scroll through for a line that would make a good title. Like in the grand scheme of a life cut short.

What’s your favorite part about the fanfiction writing process? omg it's both 1 getting to just play around in someone else's sandbox with characters someone else made and I love!!! and 2 READERS and lovely COMMENTS <3 the irl writing industry moves so slowlyyy and it's so rare you'll really be able to connect with readers in the same way, so being able to post something and people who also love the same thing will read it and be enthusiastic and talk to me about it is just the most lovely thing.

The Hierophant: Is Rook religious? How do they feel about the religious organizations that impact their life the most?

I’d say he is mostly neutral on the topic. He wasn’t raised religious, didn’t have much cause to pursue it on his own, but he is culturally Andrastian, and has fond memories of religious celebrations in his childhood alienage. What he doesn’t like is the Chantry’s stance on mages and elves. He sees through the politics involved in much of what the Chantry does, and is wary of that; especially being from Antiva, where ties between the Crows and the Chantry are still strong in some places. I think he’d say he’s “Andrastian, but shit at it”.

The Moon: How does Rook’s past impact their values? Does their past come with any biases or blind spots they have to account for?

Oh he’s very much influenced by his past. Firstly, he comes from poverty, so he still has a scarcity mindset. His mom was a thief, and a violent one at times, so he figures nothing he can do would be as bad as all that—and if it were, well, hell, that was just his upbringing. He doesn’t feel bad or remorseful about stealing from others, especially if they’re wealthy, and I have a great little scene in mind where he uses an inkwell off Varric’s desk and adds a drop of ink to a glass of water; tells him the way the ink dissipates through the water is how money dissipates through the world. It’s natural for it to spread out. It’s not natural for it to stay put. Nobles and the excessively wealthy are fair game in that sense.

The Tower: How does Rook respond to unexpected catastrophe?

He takes it pretty hard, actually! He takes things personally. Needs to be alone for a while. Gets real quiet and withdrawn, as he struggles to verbalize or address what’s happened. Basically represses it to hell and back. Then carries on, and hopes things go better next time. But there’s only so long that can go on for, before the weight of it becomes too much to bear.

This most recent chapter of cbmthy is... it's everything to be honest. I got the notification that you posted while I was at work (you're forever catching me while im doin things), and I hid for a lil bit to read.

I love the little snippets of reader's interests that we see while Az is still carrying her through the sky. Especially because it makes me pretty excited to see their trek through autumn and summer as their relationship develops. I can easily imagine reader wandering away from Az's side and having him find her hunching over a lizard somewhere. Then she info dumps on him the second she realizes he's behind her because she's just SO fascinated and can't help the word vomit.

"His hide pattern is super unique, his dorsal stripe is broken up in ways that aren't natural to their species- my books mentioned occasional genetic mutations but nothing like THIS" and then a tasteful amount of 🤨😐😑 from Az

I loved watching their trek through the coastal town as well, the descriptions of everything really just plopped us right into the thick of it. I loved the colorful houses but I'm hesitant to believe Malachite's place would be particularly colorful 🤭 I wish we could've been in Az's head just to see what he thought about reader butting heads with Malachite.

I imagine it would be along the lines of 🤨😬🥴😅

I can't say im surprised, there had been too many mentions of him specifically being far from reader that I had a feeling SOMETHING was up with him going to winter. Can't say I expected him dead before ever getting there though, I thought maybe reader just wouldn't be able to track him down or that he'd change his mind about forgiving her because it hurt too much. This is better though.

I loved the way you wrote Azriel calming down reader too. It's such a small display of care from him in the way that he calms her that means so so much in as a turning point for their relationship. He doesn't turn her down which sparks relief in her, then uses that relief as a stepping stone to get her to calm down enough to sleep. Poor girls been through so much that I don't think much else would have been able to work to be honest, (if you DID have to change his approach, what would it look like?).

Reader holds a special place in my heart, sick human girl turned fae who can't quite outrun her mortality like her sisters did. Having Azriel's emotionally constipated ass as a love interest is the cherry on top.

I'm so so happy you liked those stretching paragraphs from reader's pov, though!! I think generally speaking I tend to be more comfortable writing interactions of some kind, so getting to write such a long section where reader is just thinking her thoughts and observing the things she likes (that one part about Azriel) was both refreshing and kind of me testing the waters and seeing if I liked what the end result looked like?

But yes, I'm so excited to write their trek through Summer!!! All the heat and the smells and the bugs and the colours and the food and the clothing!!!! So excited!!!

Haha I actually love the idea of contrasting their views and the way they observe things? I'll probably stress about it for a while but since Azriel is a spy I think it would be kind of cool to just see the rainforest in each of their perspectives and seeing what comes out?

Thank you thank you thank you!!! I really like the descriptive sections in ch. 24 but they also took so much time to write! With dialogue I kind of get a sense of where I'm trying to go with it, but with description it's kind of for the sake of establishing a firm context so there isn't really a direction to take it in? Unless there actually is and I just haven't had enough practice to know what works best for me

Haha, yeah, I think his would probably have been a little more like that one that was more like a hut and had nets draped down the walls to look more weathered! Then again, he does kind of make his living out of fashion, if you think about it a lot and really twist his occupation. Maybe he enjoys a splash of colour here and there and actually has some pastel pillows up in his own quarters!

I kind of wanted to have it turn out that way, so Az would see more of her bickering, but I really like the sections where she's only a little vicious to Mal behind Azriel's back. It just made me laugh a little, like Az was the only adult in the room and the other two knew they could only argue when he wasn't really paying that much attention because otherwise he'd just shut it down with work-talk

I have to say I am GLAD you didn't see it coming! I was stressing a little over the market scene where she was thinking of him because I kept worrying that if I made her worry too much it might sound too obviously like foreshadowing? I suppose a little bit of 'huh, this character is being mentioned a suspicious amount of times' is good to get the suspicion arising though :)

Again, like with practically every other scene in that chapter, it was stressful to write in a way because I wanted him to comfort her (because I don't think I would be able to redeem him if he just left her to cry on her own) but I still wanted him to feel kind of walled off? Showing an amount of care and attentiveness, but not so much that it would feel weird or out of character for how he's been acting so far in the series?

It was also very soothing though? Personally I find the idea of listening to someone else's heartbeat incredibly intimate, and the idea of falling asleep to the rhythm of someone's heart? Reader needed a little break from misery and it felt like an appropriate amount of comfort. Like Azriel doesn't have to deal with any internal conflict about being emotionally vulnerable with someone through speaking and I feel doing things for someone feels more in line with who he is? And reader gets the physical comfort of feeling him holding her together, which means a lot to her but relatively little to him? But Az does it anyway because he knows it will mean a lot to her?

Whoooo you had me thinking about this for a while but I'm sticking to him being a do-er so I think if I had to think up a different approach for him to take, it would be similar to what he did that one other time? I think he would soothe reader into completing a task for him - like counting backwards from 100, or giving her something to temporarily focus on - and having his shadows watch her while he goes out to find hot meals and something to drink.

I think eating a midnight meal together on the sofa, with reader slumped over while she eats and Azriel keeping a little closer to her side than usual? Just sharing time together and again, with him finding something for her to focus on while calming down.

👻 ghost: can you tease some wip ideas that have been haunting you/something you want to write in the future?

I narrowed down my WIP ideas recently so I can answer this very well actually! First and foremost I want to write my Secondo x OC story. I am never not thinking about them and it will be a passion project, so I am taking it slow, letting it sit with me (like a slow-cooked stew) <3

Besides active WIPs like IKNBS and the Friday Nights series I also want to finally work on my Primo Poison Garden fic this winter that I talked about in the past (which will be a darker story). Some other one-shot ideas I have kept are a Secondo Pygmalion fic, the Libreria in Roma fic where the Cardinal and an antique book seller have their little adventure and then some fics for other fandoms! I do also want to work a bit more on my world-building for the Minstry.

And then I still have this Terzo long fic idea sitting around that is a sort of reincarnation AU where he wakes up unharmed but without memory, meets a descendant of a former clergy member who helps him realize who he is and then has to find his brothers' reincarnations to rebuild the church. I will write it one day– (in the far, far future)
