I wonder if I said this before but I really, really appreciate your stuff, FlowerBloom. Your artwork ranges from humorous to ethereal-looking. That panel where Mrs. FIllyjonk's body is turning into stars is mindblowing! Wow! And I have to thank you as well for offering some Moomin trivia and stuff. I'm looking forward for RMN.
Thank you so much!!! I really means alot to me, especially when it's coming from a fellow artist like you 🥺
Also, RMN was kind of a one-off thing, but maybe I'll do something similar again? I had alot of fun with it, so it's likely that I will.

PRESS FREEDOM!
Juvie Garde
It was February 22, the day of our symposium with a theme "The fight for press freedom". With that theme it catches my attention because we all knew that the media nowadays have been the great enemy of our government in a sense that they are willing to sacrifice their own lives just for us to know the truth. We have three guest speakers namely Mr. Rey Legario, who is an anchor of RMN Radio Statiob, Mr. Herminio Legaspi Manager of Rombo Radio Station and Atty. Erlan Deluvio the OIC Regional Director, Comission on Human Rights. This three big names really contributes a lot especially in serving our community. What I really enjoyed in that symposium was the sharing part where in the speakers shares their thoughts and ideas about the freedom of the press, they also sight some of the laws in which it preserves their rights as an individual. One of the speakers cited this from Horace Greeley " Journalism will kill you, but it will keep you alive while you're at it" and yes its very true, I can see that she's very eager to stand as a journalist the way she speak and the way she delivers her point of views. We all knew that the journalist was well-known as "watchdog" in which they are strong enough to deliver the truth even though their lives is in danger. For me being a journalist is not only a job but it is a job in which only brave people can do. And as a person we need to respect our journalist just like how we respect ourselves they are humans too, they also have feelings. We need to think critically in order for us not to be played by those politicians, not only for politicians but also to the people that surrounds us.

February 22, 2019 we had a symposium that was Friday morning with a theme “The Fight for Press Freedom Continues”
Nowadays Press or Media is a hottest topic people based on the different latest news articles they see in their social media accounts even in the television and radio, we need to think first before we say because everybody can judges you. I realized that it’s not easy to be a broadcaster or anything that connects in media or press. Freedom of press is a freedom of fear, Freedom of intimidation and Freedom of violence not only for the journalist and for those citizens mean the right to tell the story share opinions and give voice and ideas, no matter how can because journalists involve seeking and telling the truth. One speaker said Journalism will kill you but it will keep you while you’re at it. If you know something speak out let the world hear the truth. Freedom of the press is not just important to democracy, it is democracy.

February 22, 2019 is our symposium on Press Freedom. The theme was "The fight for Press Freedom Continues" and it is all about the freedom of speech to voice out, to fight, and to stand the rights of individual. Journalism is threat by the politicians because they are the one who can speak about the truth.
Danah Malinay
The recent controversies have come up regarding press freedom. The symposium brought awareness and useful information of what was happening to the Philippines and the journalists affected from recent issues. It brought an alarming thought of how much troubles such as threats journalists face just to speak abut the truth. Because of the existence of journalism, the people has every right to know what is going on. Journalism brings a lot of importance in the Philippines to my eyes because of how controversial the government can be.

On February 18-22 is an ordinary week for me because as what we are expecting for as usual, we make our research good even I’m very stress in my 14 subject but all of that is useless if I cannot manage my time well and I can handle myself. Memories in making our research even though it so hard in making our research but we trying to make our research better with confidence and with our strength and hearts. But despite of that hardship on February we know that all of my tiredness result good and better future and those teacher who help me I want to say thank you and also I cannot attend to the symposium because I had a class during time day even though I want to attend but it is hard for me to manage my time and it result conflict of schedule.

“You get a one teaching and a related assessment. It is also correlated with my text.”
Freedom of the press is the right to circulate opinions in print without censorship by the government. Americans enjoy freedom of the press under the First Amendment to the Constitution, which states: ‘Congress shall make no law…abridging the freedom of speech or of the press.
basically it is the right of the press to critic public officials especially when they can see something wrong . The media personnel contribute a lot that they come to the point that their willingness in sacrificing their lives just to give and spread the truth to uplift justice  for the people who badly needed it. I salute those media men who continuously give the honest and true information  about the current issue that happen in the society. Hence, let us give honor to those press who were killed by those people who are trying to covered the stains in their name just to look decent personnel.

The Beauty of Social Sciences
Journal Entry # 3
Danah Mae Malinay
“The Roles of Social Science Practitioners in the Past, Present and Future”
The seminar forum was an opportunity to expose ourselves with people who are at the peak of their careers. The guest speakers were invited to discuss their careers, and each represented categories within the Social Sciences. A politician, a sister, an Anchor Broadcaster, and a Teacher.
The guest speakers were Hon. Vic De Jesus, the Vice Governor of the province of South Cotabato, Sr. Marie Han. Alo, the Oblates of Notre Dame of Marbel University, Mr. Rey Legario, the anchor of RMN Radio Station, and Mr. Jayson Troy F. Bajar, Faculty of NDMU.
The person who caught my attention in the forum was, Hon. Vic De Jesus, the Vice Governor of the province of South Cotabato. He was the first to introduce himself, a man who never expected himself to be involved into politics. He talked about his journey through his career and learned how he took the opportunity and nevertheless expected himself to be passionate about it. It took me by surprise when he showed a side of politics where it wasn’t stereotyped to be corrupted. Yes, the game of politics is dirty, but the forum opened a path of understanding that people in politics do strive for the betterment of our country.
Mr. Rey Legario, gave his own insights as well about how it is their duty to give the truth to the people. It’s their duty to question everything on what goes on in their country, risking themselves for the sale of truth. He made me understand the importance of what goes on with things that people aren’t aware of. Sr. Marie, too also has their thoughts and opinions about what goes on in the government, even for the fact that what she does not involve any help coming from the government.
These three representatives of their field of expertise had one goal, they all do it for the people. Yes, our opinions are different to each category, but we can’t deny the fact that these representatives were genuine to what they want to give for the people, and what benefits the people.
As the forum went on to discuss every category of profession present in the seminar forum, I gained insights of each category and learned to appreciate the existence of social sciences. It gave me light to be more involved and maybe someday, pursue a career like theirs.

It was a Friday morning at seven in the lorning when I decided to go to school for our seminar forum, together with the other HUMSS students, I felt really excited and nervous at the same time. I was excited in a sense that we had the chance to be with other HUMSS students and to socialize with them, and nervous in a sense that this program is new to me. Frankly, I had no idea what the program is all about. When we finally entered the SMC Hall I was in shock when I saw the tarpaulin, because one of the guest speaker was a very popular person, especially here in Koronadal City. The other one is also a well-known Radio Broadcaster in Koronadal City, and lastly one of the sisters in our school, was also invited to that Seminar Forum. That made me more excited because we all know that those people are very busy especially in their own fields, but still they gave their precious time to share their knowledge to us.
Politics, Church, and Media plays a very big role in our society, without these three what would our community look like? I can’t even imagine. Entering politics nowadays is very crucial because in some instances, they might die if they will run for the election. Some reasons, is that other politicians needs to be on that high position because of the salary the they can get, because they can steal money that is intended to their community, another reason can be, is that they want to be powerful as God. The church entered in the discussion. The church also plays a big role in a sense that it can make us people critically think that are we really voting for the best and not just an average? The Church always taught us that we people was created in the image and likeness of God, but are we really enough to be known as that? Because for me, we are not worthy to be known for that, especially to those politicians who put God’s name just for them to look very religious. And lastly the people in the Media, who is very influential in terms of reporting legit news specially in politics, for me being a broadcaster is not an easy job, you need to be strong as rock to surpass every challenges that you will face along the way. One of the threats of being a broadcaster is the Death Threats that they can get because of the reports that they are making.
“The Roles of Social Science Practitioners in the Past, Present and Future”, this theme talks about our next generation, what would our generation look like if we, the people in our current time, are not well educated enough, especially on what is happening to us. We the past, present and future are the only hope of our next generation. We need to educate ourselves in order for us to be globally competitive. And that is the main reason why we are having this seminar forum with the people who are very influential. And lastly thank you for our subject teacher Mr. Jayson Bajar for the effort just for us to make this program more memorable.

Panel discussion was held with the theme of “The Roles of Social Science practitioners in the Past, Present and Future”. They discussed and shared to us their roles and connection to our society. The guest speaker Mr. Jayson troy Bajar ask the question to the three panellists “ What is the importance of Social Science”? Hon. Vic De Jesus, the Vice Governor Province of South Cotabato answered that “As a leader the importance of Social Science in our community, is you must give to people what they really need, our first priority is health and scholarships for the students to give them the chance to go to school.” Sr. Marie Han. Alo, DND, the Oblates of Notre Dame of Marbel University answered that “We also support the lack of government, also we are trying to do our best to help people, educate children, give livelihood program and we give opportunities and privilege to people”. Lastly Mr Rey Legario, the anchor of RMN Radio Station answered that, “We are always asking questions to government like is the project and happenings in our society. We are doing our very best to do our job even though being part of media is not easy but it is so challenging and some of us is called, "Bayaran na Media”“. this program help me and made me realize, that we live in a society without knowing what is happening in our surroundings. I also learned from them that if I choose my course or future goals I need to be practical, be true to my self and follow my passion, put God first always, don’t be afraid, be humble between knowing yourself, be a servant leader, maintain integrity, be confident, use your learning in school and also have a direction and clear vision in life because if you have all of this nothing is impossible.

On November 16, 2018, we had an open Forums in theme “The role of social science practitioners in the past, present, and future.” The panellists were:
Hon. Vic DE Jesus. The Vice Governor, Province of South Cotabato. Sr. Marietta ALO, OND. The oblate of Notre Dame. Mr. Rey Legario. The Anchor, RMN radio station.
It’s a great experience for me because I gained more knowledge for the things they’ve mention, actually this seminar helped me think of what I wanted to become because of their inspiring story of their past and how they reached their positions now. They give us tips on how we deal or how we choose our future careers, because we never know what will happen in the near future.
What I liked about this seminar is that we’re given a chance to witness and listen to the life of these three persons, who has a name in our society and involvement in the social sciences field.
FEAR IS CHOOSING A SAFE COURSE.
In choosing our course we must identify where we are good at, and when we find out, the next step is to identify our passion because you can’t do that without passion. An example can be when you’re engaging yourself in a relationship without love is useless and will not last long. Next is our patience, this is the one of the most important things to remember in fulfilling your dreams in life. Choosing your course is like choosing your future someday, so we need to think and plan for the better future. In every step we take in our lives, we must need to be thankful for Allah SWT/God, pray always, trust him, be yourself, trust yourself, that whatever happens in the future, you can do it and be the one of the graduate students of this institution in line with a Social Sciences studies.

We are obliged to wear business or any formal attire for the seminar that is held in SMC Hall of Notre Dame of Marbel University. We had these three guest speakers representing the world of politics, religious life, and the world of medias. They were asked about their personal experiences about politics, religious life and being part of Medias. They explained their side about what threat do the Media and Politics receive. Politicians and Media personnel are sometimes consider mortal enemies, in the other hand Politicians and Religious life are often times considered mortal enemies. Politics do their best shot for the people, Medias gives facts to give awareness to people, and religious life they serve other people and keep spreading good news from the word of God. They are selfless.
